...
" Hang on, everyone!!" Allison yelled out before Kristen did her thing. The track star started kicking her legs, using her powers to propel them faster than humanly possible. The velocity of her legs moving kicked up a lot of water, before the boat started moving forward faster than before. Allison nearly fell as the momentum of the boat moved forward, but she was able to keep upright, bracing one leg against the railing of the boat.
As quickly as the tentacles had appeared from the water, then suddenly shot back down, leaving nothing but ripples and a lack of sound. It wasn't that the ship was silent, far from it, there was still conversation, the slop of the waves and ripples hitting the hull, the groan of the damaged decking and, of course, the sound of Allison thrashing about in the water, but without the noise of battle it seemed almost silent in comparison.
Tefford stalked silently to the port side, sitting down where he could look forward, one massive arm draped over the gunwale. He frowned into the middle distance, seemingly lost in thought, cocking his head to one side like a bird studying a tasty morsel it had spotted in the grass. There was a long moment. Long enough for people to start to question what had gone on, before he spoke up, "Slow the ship down," he said, though he didn't offer any explanation for the sudden instruction.

"Hey!" she yelled, stopping to jump up and down, waving her arms in an arc over her head, "Over here!"
Immediately, she saw one of the little purple monsters turn in her direction, bounding towards her on stubby legs that nevertheless seemed to power the creature with unnatural speed. She took off, racing back in the direction of her house leading, the creature, and a handful of others after her. She would, hopefully, the pack away from Rashaad and his family, though if she managed to get home, she had something there that might give her a chance to even the score a little...

Eren Fritz meets Leo Walker
..
Eren nodded, "Then let's go to my house - I'll show you the way."
And with that, Eren began fast-walking in the direction of the house he and his Mother lived...
“Okay.” Leo followed Eren as they made their way their way towards his house. There were questions floating inside his head now, but he could wait until they reached their destination and knew they weren’t being listened to to ask.
Much to Leo of Eren's bad luck though, they happened to be heading in the direction Atalia was coming with at least two dozen of the small purple monsters on her heels. They weren't as fast as her, though they would do a more than adequate job at catching either of the others. She skidded to a halt, just about colliding with the pair. The pack were probably less than 20 seconds behind and, now, closing fast, yapping, barking and cackling with sadistic energy, "You two, get off the street! Now! Run!!"

Eren didn’t need Atalia to tell him to run - He knew how dangerous those creatures were. Turning to Leon, the young man said, “Of course we’re running - We’ve talked enough already!”
He then turned to Atalia’s direction, fast-talking to her as he waited for the signal to run, “Name’s Eren Fritz - There are weapons in my house and not all of them are guns, so if you’re not already running to somewhere safe, I suggest we go there!”
Then he pointed in the direction of his well-to-do house near the edge of the suburbs and began running towards it - Said house was barely in sight and already locked-up, and it was a good thing Eren had a spare key. But should the young man see Atalia running somewhere else, he’d shift course to it so that there was no risk of their plans clashing with each other.

Allison walked over to Ascot and grabbed him by the collar. " Shut up and get a hold of yourself!! Bitching is not going to solve anything!"
"Is there any way through the barrier? Can I break through it or something? I don't think going back is a good idea."

A good half of the creatures took off after her, though a fair number moved towards Leo and Eren. For everyone confronted by the creatures though, including Rashaad and Annie, the behaviour pattern was different. Last time they had attacked people in a frenzy, this time though they were searching, but once they found someone they didn't move in for the kill, just circled their targets, bailing them up without actually causing any harm... though that was little comfort to anyone who had seen them attack at the Harvest Ball; the creatures could move pretty quickly if they decided they did want to rip someone's throat out, after all.
For Rashaad, a couple of minutes passed, before the sound of running feet echoed down the street. The surviving creatures growled, then slunk away as suddenly a half dozen people in white CBRN defense suits appeared. They were armed and held the weapons at the ready. They looked like soldiers though it was hard to tell without any visible insignia and any uniform covered by the suits. A man stepped forward ahead of the others, his features obscured by the darkness and protective gear, "Rashaad Pennel?" he asked, "Why don't you head inside son, the streets aren't safe at the moment."

Into the Shadows
“It’s not too far, you can hoof it right?”
That’s what Annie told Maurice when she jumped into the car to go pick up her cousins. Out of all things, she had not expected Tefford to be ready to go right away. If they were truly leaving tonight, she knew she had to hurry and get her cousins. Annie rushed off in her car, but tried to avoid breaking traffic laws. As desperate as the situation felt, it was important that she not alert any suspicion. She needed to get in and out as soon as possible, and that wasn’t possible if she was pulled over for running a red light. Usually, she kept the radio on for an enjoyable night ride, but this was anything but. It was a drive home to say goodbye and to at least make off with a few people: her cousins. Sitting at an empty intersection filled the air with a silent tension, as if the sky was becoming a gel. Like a stagnant Louisiana summer night, but cold.
As soon as the light turned green, Annie pressed on the gas and went a few over the speed limit. Not enough to draw the ire of the average cop, but every millisecond counted in her book. All of a sudden, there was a creature in the middle of the road. A purple fuzzy beast, like at the dance? She shook her head. No, it couldn’t be true. They couldn’t be back already. It was too soon; had the people at the boat house already left? Was this why Tefford was in such a hurry to leave?
An instant decision. She swerved and ran it over with her wheel. Two thunks assured her that, if it wasn’t dead, it was at least going to be disoriented enough not to see her car. She turned off her headlights. On arrival at her street, she parked at the end, and slid into the shadows of the night. She stayed out of the light, careful to avoid even her shape being seen in the lights of the street lamps. And she hurried, as fast as she could. Being without a real feeling of mass as a shadow let her move faster because it was easier to move, but at the end of the day it was still a sprint. And as she sprinted, one with darkness, she saw another one of the beasts mulling about in her front yard. She didn’t change from her shadow form. Instead, she slid between the door and into her house. A quick peek out the window showed that she hadn’t yet been detected, but there was no time to waste.
She grabbed a large duffle bag, and started stuffing it with her own essentials, mostly athletic clothes and some sweatpants. Then she did the same for her cousins. Moira-Lee stirred slightly. She made a peep—quite literally, and Annie popped out of the shadows to hush her.
“We have to move quickly,” she hissed to her half-awake little cousin.
Her pleas were met with nothing but drowsy confusion. Suddenly, Annie heard a faint crash, sort of like that of a raccoon getting into the trash. But in her heart, she knew what it really was from the screech that accompanied the clutter. Annie slung the bag over her shoulder, and held her hand to her mouth to hush her cousin. She slid back into the shadows and into Gilligan’s room. The boy was, luckily for his sake, sound asleep. Annie hurried to put on the baby carrier. She clasped her hand to Gilligan’s mouth as she plucked him straight from his bed and put him into the carrier. It was a tight fit for the poor boy, but when he mumbled complaints, Annie held her hand against his mouth tighter to muffle the sound. She slid back into Moira-Lee’s room. The young girl was groggy and crying a bit, more so from the upset of all that was going on than from sadness or real fear. She didn’t know what was happening.
And then Annie’s hand reached out and yanked Moira-Lee into the shadows. She yelped, but strangely, Moira-Lee was part of the shadows, just like Annie. Annie had expected so much more trouble, but there they were. She was in the shadows with both of her cousins. Safe. Or so it seemed. All she could do was hush her cousins until the creature left long enough to sneak out to her car...

Meanwhile, at sea...
Tefford seemed relieved as the ship slowed down. He stared forward for a moment, cocking his head to one side... then suddenly lunged fully to his feet, sprinting for the boat's cab, almost yanking the door off in the process, "Everyone hold on!" he yelled, then grabbed the wheel, swinging the boat hard to port. It was a sudden, jarring movement that seemed to have no purpose at first...
A few seconds later there was a crunching impact from the starboard side that was hard enough to throw people from their feet. The boat groaned and squealed ominously as it dragged itself along the length of an invisible wall, "You remember what I said about sailing off the edge of the world?" Tefford called out, over the groaning ship "Well it looks like they've got the sides up after all! I'm sorry kids, but we'll need to head back to shore and work on finding another way off the island."
After a long moment the sound stopped and the ship seemed to be moving normally again, albeit back in the direction of the island. Looking back behind the ship would show only the slightest hint of something unusual in the pattern of the waves. The barrier itself remained completely invisible to the naked eye. Tefford growled, slamming his fist on the ship's wheel, pausing for a long moment before saying to the ship at large, "There will be a way on and off this island. There has to be. Is there anywhere where people seem to come out of or disappear into?"
"You kids don't listen. No wonder they went with teenagers," Tefford growled, then, ignoring what everyone else was doing, went into the cabin to retrieve a life jacket, pulled it on, then, seemingly having forgotten about the tentacle monster from earlier, jumped off the side of the ship and began swimming towards the shore in a swift and efficient freestyle which appeared to be partly supplemented by his metahuman abilities. If the creature under the waves was interested in a swimmer, it hadn't come for him... yet.
Meanwhile, the surface layer of the wall had cracked, flaking off into the water to reveal what appeared to be a thick layer of steel reinforced concrete that had been concealed behind some kind of high tech camouflage. Once the camouflage layer was gone it made the wall seem a little more understandable.

No plan survives first contact with the enemy. In Maurice’s mind, this was the most obvious maxim for the rapidly changing situation he had found himself in. New variables both at sea, and, thanks to his link with Annie, on the island had made themselves apparent with the complications they both brought. He should have adapted. After all, this plan was a long-shot at the end of the day, but Maurice was human at the end of the day. Stress and anger won out over cold logic as one word ran through his mind over and over again;
fuck.
The seemingly overconfident and overeager voices within the group proved to only worsen Maurice’s mood. Jack’s notable resistance to the idea had only prevented Maurice from completely losing control of his emotions as he scowled at the wall that blocked them from safety. This was reinforced concrete and they had no idea about the thickness. If they could break it, it would take time to make a large enough hole from the boat. Time which they didn’t have given the Kraken thing, which there was probably more waiting for them on the other side.
“Listen up,” He loudly spoke over the crowd, “We’re going back to the shore. Breaking through the wall is too risky. Beach the boat close to town if it means avoiding the kraken.” His posture was incredibly tense as he looked over the others. He brought them all this way, he’d be the one to get the back. “Before we go,” he continued with a more commanding tone, “someone take a picture of the damned wall. We’ll need it to convince the others why taking a boat won’t work. Now, I know there’s something going on in the town. I know what I’m about to say sounds insane, but we need to get many of the other kids with powers as we can and go to the military base.”
Maurice paused for a moment, letting the idea linger in the air as he once again looked over the others. “And I need to know if anyone here can fly,” he added with a sigh. “It’s risky, but we need to know what’s waiting for us at the base before we get there.”
