Character Name: Arnulf ‘The Old Man’ Zjevnik

Bio:
While tales around a campfire might portray Arnulf as being lost Redanian aristocracy, a bastard born to a Skellige Chief and Nilfgaardian prince or the sire of a dwarf and a troll the truth is far more simple.

Born to a blacksmith in a small Temerian village along the Redanian border Arnulf’s early years were of little interest. He took on his father’s trade as an apprentice, married the miller’s daughter and by all accounts was to live the life of a peasant until an incident at the border drove a nest of necrophages into the town leaving a 17 year old Arnulf as the only survivor.

This moment changed everything as Arnulf took what was left of the town and forged himself a blade and a horde of trinkets and crafts to sell in the capital. Hiking to the nearest town with a loaded wagon carried behind him he traded for a horse and made the long journey south, plying his craft where he could and picking up any lessons in combat he could muster. By the time he arrived in Vizima these had borne fruit and he was found himself a competent, if unconventional, fighter.

Using connections he made on his travels Arnulf found himself work for the military repairing their equipment in exchange for bed, board and basic training. Within the year he found full employment among them and garnered a reputation for forging tools to aid in training and battle.

It was among the military Arnulf found his true calling and served for 47 years fighting, training and conscripting across the land for his crown and country. During his time Arnulf fought beasts and men, guarded and trained nobility and led forces for covert operations across the borders. Most common however were the numerous pursuits and assaults he led and joined against Elven rebels, rioters and dissidents. The exact truth of this time however is well lost as his tales vary from the impossible to the incredible.

Since his retirement Arnulf has travelled the Northern Kingdoms looking for a new lease in life, giving young men and women the tools they needed to find their callings as he did himself. Hearing news of Witcher setting up on the Sodden-Temeria border Arnulf decided to make his way and see for himself what the Witcher’s were really like, and if possible, spend his final years giving them any extra edge he might find.
