I read the first few IC posts and all of the general info on this thread and the other. Anyone mind giving a brief summary on what's going on now?

Which other thread, Endless Knot or Andromeda Burning? Also if you are okay with it, join our discord as it has kind of supplanted the OOC thread for general use.

As for your question, I am kind of behind on this thread's IC myself

One group of kids with superpowers is about to depart the island on a big grey trawler along with their principal, who was apparently a sleeper agent intended to get them all out of danger. There are a whole bunch of others that will remain in the island. All we know that it is dangerous to remain.

So that will have an interesting effect if I choose to introduce my character in the way I'm planning.

I was hoping to introduce him via him waking up on a beach (not the same one as the party) on the island, considering it may be hard to insert him into the story as if he wasn't aware of what all has happened already.

I'm happy for you to bring in a character but someone waking up on a beach could be disruptive to the whole big secret that's playing out in the background of Pref.

I'd suggest writing another High School student that has only just discovered they have powers. I can give you the TL;DR for what would have happened to your character in the first chapters of the thread.

Character Description
    Name: Rosalind "Rosie" Llywelyn
    Gender: Female
    Age: 18
    Appearance:
    Pic
    Rosie stands 5'5

Strengths and Weaknesses
Skills: Limber and dexterous from years spent as a gymnast and cheerleader. Generally athletic with a good amount of stamina, capable of performing even lengthy Iron Man Matches
Weaknesses: Can only copy things she is physically capable of doing (copying a powerlifter doesn't grant her the ability to suddenly lift 300 kilos). Prone to bore people with tangents about things literally no one is interested in but her.

Phase One Power: Skillset -Adoptive Muscle Memory - Lvl 1: Rosie user can perfectly copy any and all movements and actions after observing it performed once, she can even perfectly mimic movements via indirect observation. Including acrobatics, martial arts, and other physical stunts. With these skills, she can become masters and incredible at what they do, by combining what several forms and movements in rhythmic motions instead of using the same thing over. Rosie can adapt the skills she copies for her own needs and personal condition. She can use this ability both instinctively and with perfect recall and execution each time.

Phase Two Powers: Skillset- It's Still Real To Me, Dammit! - Lvl 2: To quote Jim Cornette, "Wrestling isn't fake, it's scripted." The storylines might be fictional, but getting hit with a steel chair hurts. Most wrestling moves, however, don't actually cause much if any legit pain for the person receiving them. The difference is, wrestling moves aren't being performed by someone with strange powers. Rosie's dedication borders on dissociation, as she legitimately applies various holds and moves to her opponents that cause the apparent pain that they do in kayfabe. A Figure-Four Leglock can break a leg, the Sharpshooter puts painful torquing pressure on the lower back, the Cobra Clutch can cause unconsciousness, etc. Rosie is also able to tolerate any knocks or injuries she might get from throwing herself around bodily. Her physical abilities are also heightened to the point where they can perform any physical act without difficulty.

Dexterity - Cruiserweight - Lvl 1 Rosie isn't exactly a towering powerhouse. She's no Nia Jax or Chyna, so she can't rely on raw strength to get by. Instead, she's adopted a more nimble and occasionally high-flying style associated with lighter weightclass wrestlers like Rey Mysterio, Dean Malenko, Chris Jericho or Io Shirai. She can balance extremely well on thin pathways, and leap off of them onto a target either directly or after some stylish (and damaging) flips. She's very quick on her feet and capable of dodging physical attacks made by larger, slower opponents.

Phase Three Powers: Skillset - ELECTRIFYING! - Lvl 3: To be good at professional wrestling, you need to be able to do more than just fake a punch and fall down when someone does a kick. A wrestler is a performer, they have to capture the crowd's attention outside of the ring so that they pay attention to what happens inside. Some wrestlers are better at it than others, and some have a natural gift. For every Dwayne Johnson or Randy Savage, there are two dozen Shockmasters, Giant Silvas, or Jumpin' Jeff Farmers. Rosie now has such control over her image that it borders on impossible. She delivers scathing promos with ease, capable of burying a once promising star to the midcard forever. Whenever she needs it, her theme music plays, pyro detonates, and an invisible crowd pops, cheers, and boos at the appropriate moments. Her outfit also can change to either the most flamboyant entrance gear to workable ring gear inspired by one of her favorites, Alexa Bliss, when needed with no hesitation or need for a changing room. Some claim to hear the disembodied voices of good ol' JR and Jerry 'The King' Lawler calling the matches, but who knows for sure.

Meteoric Push - Pay-Per-View - Lvl 2: Not every match is made for TV. Some bouts are destined for a grander stage: the pay-per-view schedule. Rosie is determined to make it to the grandest stage of them all, the Showcase of the Immortals: Wrestlemania. Along the way to her dream, she has to do well at the other events first. She can summon the most evil structure in sports entertainment, Hell In A Cell, to surround an area of its size, forcing anyone unfortunate enough to be caught to fight for their lives in the ring contained within the demonic cage. Adding to the risk, the standard variety of weapons usually seen at Extreme Rules or TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs awaits- steel chairs, ladders, tables, bats, kendo sticks, sledgehammers, and possibly even the signature bag of tacks used by Mrs. Foley's Baby Boy all lurk beneath the canvas waiting for a chance to shine. None of these items are permanent though, and they faded out of existence if they're taken 50 yards away from the Cell. The Cell itself dissipates either when the fight is over, or when Rosie is no longer fit to continue.

Background:
Personality: Rosie has spirit when it comes to making friends and talking to people, but sometimes she's a little slow to catch on that she's oversharing and people are desperate to either change the subject or just leave. She's overall a bubbly person and she'll talk to you about almost anything, but if you happen to even tangentially get close to her main hobby, watching pro wrestling, you're in for a ride of a conversation that has no brakes.

Backstory: Rosie was born on Prefeton (though she'd likely be billed from at minimum, Portland) to a relatively normal family. Frankly, everything about her upbringing was "normal". They lived an average, upper-middle class life like many other urban New England families. The most notable thing about Rosalind's childhood is that she had an obsession with professional wrestling. She spent a lot of time after school watching RAW, Smackdown, Ring of Honor, TNA, basically anything she could find on tv. From a young age, she was fascinated by what she saw and knew it was the only thing she wanted to do with her life. Despite repeated warnings of "Do Not Try This At Home", she practiced on her friends from time to time when either they let her, or when they weren't paying attention.

She took gymnastics and joined the cheerleading team, believing that they would be a good way to get in shape to start training professionally after school. Eventually, she realized that she was picking the moves up just by watching them, except this time she was doing them perfectly instead of botching against her sometimes unwilling partners. The more she watched, the more she learned. Instead of thinking anything was wrong, she chalked it up to osmosis from all the time she spent watching or practicing, and set her sights on one day making it onto the card at Wrestlemania.

Not an OP or Co-OP, but I agree, it is a very interesting RP.

Character Description
    Name: Leo Walker
    Gender: M
    Age:18
    Appearance:
    Image
Leo is about 5’10” in height and has almost frost colored eyes

Strengths and Weaknesses
Skills: Leo is good at fighting, losing his cool, and being unable to read the mood often
Weaknesses: Does not possess any physical enhancements, so he is about as durable as your average human.
    Phase One Power:
General Purpose Shift Lvl 1: Leo utilizes his abilities in order to prevent an object or enemy from completely closing in on him. Rather than being too abnormal, it would seem as if he was just exceptionally good at dodging attacks.

    Phase Two Powers:
General Purpose Shift Lvl 2: After gaining increased mastery of his powers, Leo can now willfully create and collapse space between himself and a designated point/object. The space he can create/collapse can go up to, but not exceed, fifty meters.

Dividing Arsenal Lvl 1: Due to his rather average physical capabilities, Leo had to learn to adapt his power in a new way. He can conjure knives that take on the properties of his powers, that being the ability to create space between two points. (For clarification, see https://powerlisting.fandom.com/wiki/Spatial_Slicing These weapons CANNOT slice through dimensions, just things they can touch.) These conjured weapons can only be maintained while in close proximity to Leo, and as such will disappear if they get more than fifteen meters away from him.

    Phase Three Powers:
General Purpose Shift Lvl 2: Same as previously noted iterations of this power.

Dividing Arsenal Lvl 2: Leo has mastered his ability to create weapons and can now conjure swords made of his power. The range limit of these weapons has also increased, only disappearing after the weapons have exceeded a radius of forty meters around Leo

Spatial Compression Lvl 2: Leo can designate a point and compress space in that area in order to create a psuedo-grenade that, when activated, will explode in a sphere with a four meter diameter.

Background:
Personality: Leo is just as how you would imagine a high school boy to be. He can be quick to act on rash decisions, get too heated at inappropriate times, and can be extremely oblivious to the world at times. Most of the time he is outgoing, kind, and quite cheerful.
Backstory: (I apologize if this backstory seems too generic. I just tried to do what I was told :( )
Leo was born and raised on Prefer Isle, much like many of the other residents there. He had his mother and father to take care of him, much like the majority of the other children on the island. He was a bit of a trouble maker in school though, as he was easily provoked into fights with the other children and often found it difficult to justify why exactly he had gotten into those fights to his teachers. This kind of behavior continued throughout his years in school and admittedly, he eventually became quite good at fighting. Outside of these incidents though, he was a kind boy and never intentionally sought to harm anyone that hadn't wronged him first.

Eventually, after he entered high school, Leo noticed something was beginning to change when he fought. Some punches that should have connected or at least grazed him continually missed him. It felt like he could almost control when it happened. As he continued to fight he gained increased mastery of his abilities and, soon enough, began to question whether or not there were others like him. With his new abilities in tow, Leo is now searching for other people with awakening powers such as himself. He wants to help them to make the right choices with the mysterious abilities they’ve been given and hopefully prevent any kind of super villain from coming into existence if he can help it. All is easier said than done, as Leo must first find others before he can do anything.

Character Description
Name: Jane Arnette, and she has already begun spitballing hero names, currently favoring "Rebound"
    Gender: Female
    Age: 16
    Appearance:
    Image

Strengths and Weaknesses
Skills: Jane is an aspiring drummer, and although Prefeton has little in the way of a music scene to showcase her talents, she still excels as a member of the school drum line and through individual practice at home. She has latched onto her mother's creative encouragement and is currently entangled in trying to finish a stage play. Whether keeping the beat on a piece or taking lead of a group class project, she prides herself on her ability to communicate what needs to be done and lead the way to that goal with a level head.
Weaknesses: Jane can come off as fairly aloof when not focused on her own projects or leading an effort, and this manifests itself most often in her awful sense of direction. She also tends to get tunnel vision when occupied with an especially challenging obstacle to overcome, become obsessed with finding a way to succeed.
Phase One Power: Kinetic redirection 1 - Jane's body is able to absorb the shock of blows she takes, and is able to redirect the kinetic energy from punches, kicks, or even a ball hitting her hands, repurposing this energy for her own use. At phase one she is able to apply 100% of the kinetic energy she absorbs to the energy she produces from her own kicks, punches, thrown items, or leaping ability.

Her power does not nullify the harm she would take from these punches or, at most extreme, kinetic projectiles like bullets.
Phase Two Powers: Kinetic Redirection 2 - At phase two, Jane is able to redirect the full kinetic force she absorbs, and her body amplifies this force by half of the total energy (i.e., she deals back 1.5x the energy) as well as adding this force to her own naturally produced energy.

Heat/Light redirection (Lvl 1): Jane is able to snuff out artificial lights and flames within 10 feet, able to redirect their energy into a burning attack. She is able to project this energy from her body up to 5 feet with the same force as allowed by her Kinetic Redirection
Phase Three Powers: Kinetic Redirection 3 - At maximum capability, Jane's is able to redirect 3.5 times the energy she absorbs. She is able to apply this force to her own natural blows and leaping ability, or eject it in a 5 foot sphere of force around herself.

Heat/Light redirection: Jane is able to snuff out artificial lights and flames within 10 feet, able to redirect their energy into a burning attack. She is able to project this energy from her body up to 5 feet.

Partial Kinetic Nullification (Lvl 2) - Jane has realized the ability to reduce the effect of physical blows, thrown objects, and even bullets on her body. This means Jane is only subject to half the kinetic force as the blow makes contact, meaning she can still be harmed by objects that are especially large or quickly traveling, like vehicles. However, she still absorbs the entirety of the kinetic energy. Bullets are still effective in deterring her, simply less fatal, depending on caliber and weapon make.

Background:
Personality: Outgoing and energetic, she is in her element either perfecting her own art or performing in the school's drum line at sporting events, flipping her sticks about in as much a show as she can get away with while still fulfilling her role. Intensely focused on her goals and best ways to achieve them, it is nearly impossible to deter the stubborn teen from a desire she's begun to pursue. Jane is ever the optimist, and even her failures tend to fill her with the resolve to rebound, appropriate for her innate ability and an inspiration for her currently preferred dream crime-fighting alias.

She can be overzealous in pursuing her desires though, and it sometimes blinds her to the physical or emotional harm she may bring to others while chasing her goals. As she learns to manifest her powers in new ways she grows more disobedient and absent-minded, daydreaming of striking out on her own, away from sleepy Prefeton to make use of her newfound abilities.
Backstory: Jane Arnette moved to Prefeton from Manhattan two years ago, at the conclusion of a shaky divorce proceeding between her mother and estranged father. She'd never really cared to ask why or when it began. She took after her mother apparently -- at least, that's what Julie Arnette told her daughter -- in that when things got tough she found a new creative pursuit or hobby to throw herself wholly into. It became drumming, something she had already been getting into during her middle school years and had only grown to love more heading into high school, getting the chance to be a part of a properly funded musical program.

When she and her mother left Jane's native Manhattan and moved to Prefeton, it was a homecoming for her mother and a new world for Jane. The quiet little island was a far cry from the city that never slept, the ever so slightly more pronounced to make a difference, the summers less exciting. Jane found her own excitement in her pursuits, which her mother said Prefeton would allow her to focus on properly with its small-town serenity. Before her first school year Jane had been more focused on her creative projects than actually getting to know the town and her classmates.

Even today she's not as familiar with everyone as she would like, especially those outside of the school's band. She is far from cold or unfriendly, she's simply had her mind elsewhere, still learning to cope with the massive change of scenery and new life she was handed so suddenly. She doesn't know the others particularly well, and didn't bother to show up to Atalia's beach party.

Strange occurrences have drawn her further out of her own bubble however. She first noted it when some half-hearted roughhousing ended with her shoving another drum line member into a band hall wall and leaving a noticeable indention, landing the band in a world of trouble for months. After other similar incidents around the same time -- with the last resulting in her kicking a soccer ball so hard back towards the practicing players it ended up on nearly on the other side of the field -- Jane began to suspect something was strange, and set about finding answers as to what was going on.

Character Description
    Name: Eren Fritz
    Gender: Male
    Age: 18
    Appearance:

    Image

Strengths and Weaknesses
Skills: Eren loves guns, either actual hunting rifles, shotguns, and pistols, or model guns which look real enough but cannot shoot. However, and more embarrassingly, he likes sewing and embroidery, as well as ballet, along with certain kids shows which many would say are too kiddy and girly for him. He also likes stuffed toys, including that of soft furry creatures. He also knows First Aid.

Weaknesses: Eren doesn’t want to lose his ‘cool’ image, and so goes to great lengths to hide his fascination with ‘girly’ things, especially a kids’ show about tiny equines. He is also a lazy, indolent bum when he isn’t maintaining the ‘cool’ image he has tried to cultivate, or pursuing his many interests.

    Phase One Power:

Blood Production (Level One Power) - Eren can increase the production of blood in his own body whenever he is wounded or wounds himself, to the point where he can create several pints of new blood in a few moments, and keep doing so until he runs out of spare energy/calories. This is a requirement for his next powers.

    Phase Two Powers:

Lifeblood (Level Two Power) - Eren’s blood now contains every antibody and immunity in the known world, making him immune to any disease, and his blood production jumps up to the point where he can produce several gallons of it in a minute.

Lesser Bestowal of Benefits (Level One Power) - Eren's blood, which is already O-Negative, can be transfused to anyone, even people who are AB-Negative, without any medical problems, and act as a near-instant cure to any disease they might be afflicted with as long as the cause is microbial (Yes, this means that Eren can cure HIV and other currently incurable diseases, but not autoimmune sicknesses or cancer).

    Phase Three Powers:

True Regeneration (Level Three Power) - Eren can heal a broken bone in three hours, and regenerate lost limbs after three days, as long as the main part of his body (head and torso) is intact.

Bestowal of Benefits (Level Three Power) - Eren can give the benefits of True Regeneration through prolonged skin contact or contact with bodily fluids (including sweat), and a direct blood transfusion can put autoimmune diseases and cancer into remission as long as the patient receives regular supplies of it. This cannot heal the dead.

Background:
Personality: Aside from his fixation with looking cool and being indolent, Eren thinks of himself as ordinary, although he most definitely thinks that the responsibilities of having powers are not to be avoided. Unlike other people, he tries to be patient and diligent, and is disappointed in everyone when they don’t plan rationally for the consequences of their lives never being the same. Then again, he himself doesn’t know the first thing about being rational - It’s just that he knows it. And when asked why he hadn’t acted sooner, he’ll just say to everyone else:

“I’ve always been here - You just haven’t noticed.”

Backstory: Eren was born in Preferton to a mother who worked at home and a businessman father who worked in the mainland. He was close to said mother, though not as close as a ‘normal’ parent and child would be, but resented his father for being away so much. He took up embroidery and other girlish things as an act of rebellion against said father, only to find himself being ridiculed for it by other kids, causing him to take up toy guns as a result. Ironically, this led to him reconciling with his father and him joining several hunting trips on the Mainland.

Either way, he never formally joined any club, and occupied a position as a middling-popular kid, getting invited to various parties, including Atalia’s first bonfire, where he saw indiscreet usage of powers plus the beginnings of the Doon’a’tay plague. After some thought, Eren did what he did best, and waited, breaking his wait only to discover his ability to produce more blood when he was nearly torn apart by mutated rodents in the School Dance. Seeking answers, he was a customer in the Rider Restaurant when the boy named Ascot attempted to coordinate efforts for cooperation but was undone by his arrogance, and then continued to wait.

He was also part of Atalia’s most recent party/meeting, quietly listening and watching, before returning home in order to prepare for his own escape and departure from the island...

Character Description
    Name: Leo Walker
    Gender: M
    Age:18
Appearance: Leo is about 5’10” in height and has almost frost colored eyes

[/list]

Apologies for the slow response! He is accepted and good to go. One thing worth noting though, is that if you had been weighing up between weapon summoning and something else, there are a few people with similar abilities already.

From reading this it looks like you haven't done the maths on powers correctly. At Phase 3 you should have 6 points. This looks like a 9 point character.

Please can you revisit this with the following formula.

Phase 1: 1 point total.
Phase 2: 3 points total.
Phase 3: 6 points total.

If you wanted to just keep what you've got at Phase 3 I'd accept it (Bestowal of Benefits is definitely Tier 3, not Tier 2 so it is a 6 point build), but I suspect that isn't what you want to do.

Character Description
Name: Jane Arnette, and she has already begun spitballing hero names, currently favoring "Rebound"
    Gender: Female
    Age: 16
    Appearance:

    Name: Alterio Henderson
    Gender: Male
    Age: 16
    Appearance:
    Image

    Strengths and Weaknesses
Skills: Not super book smart but doesn't matter when you've got a bit of common sense and resourcefulness. He's a bit a of a decent planner though he far more prefers to plan for his own personal goals. Great with directions, the yoyo for some reason, and some good upper body strength. Certainly not afraid to take risk nor to bend or break the rules to win. He's very hand's on though not a builder he has a jack of all trades skillset when it comes mechanical and hands on labor.
Weaknesses: not a leader but certainly headstrong does not do super well following someone but doesn't mind working as a team. He's not wise and pretty one track minded preferring to get things done his own way. An avid believer in the phrase 'if you want it done right, you do it yourself' he doesn't have the best history with trusting other people. Sometimes breaking the rules get him hurt or other hurt and that weighs on him a lot. The thought of love is a weird concept to him and anything more than acquaintances makes him feel embarrassed.
Phase One Power: lv1"in the kitchen" Body is resistant to burns and temperatures up to 76 degrees celcius and takes long to burn at exceeding temperatures

Phase Two Powers: lv1"stay out" A quick combustion of flame ignites around the body or from a focused point on a limb. The full body flames reaches 2 feet all around or 5 feet from a focused point. The flames can only reach 525- 600 celcius and are only maintained with concentration (which means no prolonged fires and no getting hit atleast not hard or constantly) and the combustion generates paltry force. (the user can only choose to ignite the whole body or to shoot flames from two of their limbs, not both.)

lv2 "in the kitchen" body is heavily resistant to burns but body temperature rises with prolong use (a likey chance for heat stroke and still get qwispy) Body is resistant to temperatures up 228 and has takes a longer time to burn at exceeding temperatures

Phase Three Powers: lv3 "I took the heat" The only way for the user to get burned is from temperatures exceeding 1510 celcius Heat stroke is now more likely than burns.
lv3 "Eruption" The combustion now produces 60 pounds of force and full body flames reach 20 feet while focused flames reach up to 50 feet with temperatures up to 1700 celcius. The user can now use all their limbs to shoot fire however they still cannot ignite their body at the same time, and still must maintain concentration.

    Background:
Personality: Alterrio just make a joke out of anything his pain or others pain for better or worse. He tries to avoid dealing with the implications of words and likes to dance around issues if he can. He believes his own purposeful ignorance could give him at least some peace of mind but that's a lie. He's inquisitive and curious but doesn't want to be. It owes to nature to explore everything around him constantly but also means he has to actively avoid facing the truth of things he can't fix. That is why he took up odd jobs because it was so much easier to apply onself to things that were easy and could fill the mind with more mundane things, making people laugh, making sure the fauces could keep running with a twist, adding a couple numbers on the register. All alot easier than thinking or meditation. Being alone with one's thoughts is terrible.

Backstory: Preferton local street urchin who focused a lot more on messing around than taking education seriously. Many people probably haven't seen him around school since he much prefers to hone his skills on hands-on work since in his opinion it's a lot easier than trying to apply complex formulas to real life. Alterio has been in Preferton most of his life bouncing from foster home to foster home until he go too 'old' to bounce around anymore. He wasn't clumsy or aggressive just unruly and sly. He took a lot of fun in making and performing elaborate schemes to cause trouble. Whether it was something minor like figuring out how to grab the cookie jar from the cabinet or how to turn a potato gun into a tp cannon much to the ire of many neighbors he had. What he saw as harmless fun was considered destructive and disrespectful but no one ever explained to him why.

Despite what many believed his behavior and bad grades would lead him to Alterio always stayed the 'fun slacking jokester' to those that did know him around the school. Then when he wasn't at school he kept himself busy, either trying to be funny at the convenience store he worked at, climbing some other building only to be told off, and or fixing something up anything. In a way, he thought by making other people happy he'd be happy somedays it works and other days he wonders why it's so hard. Now with these powers maybe he could be someone of worth maybe he'd matter for once.

Character Description
    Name:Zachariah Allen
    Gender: Male
    Age: 17
    Appearance:
Slightly shorter than average, average build, dark hair, grey eyes

Strengths and Weaknesses
Skills: Average student who struggles in math, but scores very well in history and writing. Also does not panic easily and takes stress well.
Weaknesses: Not athletic and has poor coordination. Requires glasses or contacts to see more than five feet in front of him.
    Phase One Power:
-Is capable of influencing the minds of others subconsciously to agree with him or help him. This is not mind control, and only makes others see things from his viewpoint a little bit more.

    Phase Two Powers:
-Is capable of conscious influence over other people's minds. This is not actual mind control, and only works so long as he himself is convinced in what he's doing. If he commits a crime he can't make a cop simply not arrest him for it, only maybe understand why he did the crime however far that goes.
-Capable of limited manipulation of electricity. This goes as far as an shock you might get from static or turning on and off a light. Requires physical contact and is not capable of harming someone significantly.

    Phase Three Powers:
-Greater ability to influence other's minds up to actual mind control with some effort, although willpower can overcome this.
-Capable of manipulating electricity to such a degree to make lightning. Not as powerful as actual lightning, but can kill or seriously injure someone if he puts some effort and time into it. Control over electricity directly is also enhanced.

Background:
Zachariah, or Zach as he's more commonly called was not born in Preferton. Instead his upper middle class family moved there for work when he was 15. Because of the opportunities he had and free time when his parents, both of whom who worked, weren't home Zach has had a lot of time to decide what he believes and why. As Zach becomes more convinced of his beliefs his powers will grow as they're directly related to his will and desire to change reality in front of him. Zach is an only child, and has no real solid connections to anyone in Preferton partly because of his relatively recent arrival there.

Personality:
Zach generally doesn't hold a high opinion of people he doesn't think are 'correct'. He has very rigid ideas of how things are supposed to be and why, but is generally polite and sociable. He is very picky with his connections and likes a friend who can stimulate his mind with a good conversation.

Backstory:
Zach's parents ostensibly are consultants and bureaucrats for the town government, much to Zach's discontent. Zach, partly because of his own dissatisfaction with his family (who he loves anyways and as such as a harder time using his abilities on) is developing ideas as to why his parents seem to care more about their work than him and are increasingly treating Zach as a vessel for their own interests rather than his own. Partly as a result of being forced into taking classes he dislikes and going toe vents he also does not like to please his parents Zach is growing increasingly cynical. Despite this he has no particular anger at the world or his parents, but instead sees his parents more as victims of the social structures that surround them. It's these views that drive him towards certain ideas of how the world should look like.
