THE SETTING: WAR'S END

It is 1000 YEARS BEFORE THE BATTLE OF YAVIN. The NEW SITH EMPIRE has been defeated and the RUUSAN REFORMATION has come to pass- as the republic demilitarizes and the Galaxy begins to rebuild after a war that cost 2/3rds of the known galaxy's population many do not yet know- but this is the start of a golden age in the REPUBLIC. The ARMY OF LIGHT is to be disbanded, the JEDI are to become keepers of the peace and guardians of Justice- the emergence of the JEDI COUNCIL is at hand as the REPUBLIC reforms and the people rebuild.

Claudius Antilles
The Peacemaker
Approaching Mek-Sha

Claudius sat at the helm of his vessel as it barreled out of hyperspace and near the asteroid the station of Mek-Sha was built into. It was a long flight from Coruscant, and during the trip he reviewed what files the Jedi Archives had on the station, though there wasn't much to be found: it appeared to be little more than a haven for smugglers, gangs, and other various unsavory types; the only significant entry was that it was evidently once the site of a conflict between Republic and Sith forces over fuel during the Third Galactic War back before the Hutts reclaimed it. Still, it's out of the way and insignificant status kept it largely off the Republic's radar, so if someone was looking to trade in Sith artifacts, Mek-Sha seemed an excellent place to do it.

Claudius flew near to the asteroid and requested clearance to land; looking at the station's lights while waiting for a response through the cockpit window, gazing at a settlement separated from the vacuum of space by nothing more than an invisible shield. When he finally received clearance to land, and was given coordinates for an available landing pad, he made his way through the shield and down to the settlement's surface. The landing fee was, predictably, exorbitant, and if that weren't enough a small gang of ragged looking individuals approached him, demanding he pay them an additional "landing tax." Fortunately, to say they were weak minded was an understatement, and a mind trick quickly sent the group on their way.

Claudius worked his way through the port and onto the ramshackle walkways of Mek-Sha. The poverty of the station was immediately obvious, with merchants at shoddy stalls trying desperately to peddle their wares, beggars asking for food or credits at virtually every corner, and slaves being led through the streets in large groups by Hutt thugs. Claudius kept his cloak closed and hood up as he walked through the streets, eventually making his way to a somewhat wealthier part of the station on a higher level decorated by bright holographic signs and into one of the local Cantinas, where he'd arranged to meet with an old colleague of his who had kindly volunteered to assist him in his investigation. He took a seat at a shaded booth near the back of the establishment, ordered a glass of Alderaanian wine, and waited for his colleague to arrive...
