+++Psychological Analysis: Zahra Mousavi Valadkhan is an outspoken young woman, and a strange paradox - deeply religious yet deeply resistant to traditions she deems unjust. Noticeably superstitious and surprisingly spiritual for someone so rebellious against authority, she seems to relish in defying expectations. Though generally quiet around those she doesn't know, when opening up she quickly proves to be loyal to those she trusts, passionate about her beliefs and willing to engage in deep discussion of philosophy and religion.
+++Weaknesses: A relatively young and untried rookie pilot. Insomniac. Anger towards perceived injustice and a strong sense of morality can restrict Second Lieutenant Valadkhan's ability to accomplish objectives and distract her from the task at hand. Passionate and outspoken, Valadkhan was pressured to resign from the Iranian Air Force for her inability to toe the line.

+++Bio: Raised among distant, rural family who lived nomadic lives along the coast of the Persian Gulf while her parents were embroiled in the changes and shifts in Iranian politics, Zahra Mousavi Valadkhan grew up hunting, riding and living a much different life than that of her urban, educated parents. She nevertheless followed in the footsteps of their political activism [...] Grandfather was an ace pilot in the Iran-Iraq War, flying an F-14 Tomcat. Family remains very important to her. Used to be in a garage band that didn't work out. Joined the military for the adventure, soon realized the naïveté of this but decided to stick to it, tended to get in trouble for back talking and questioning orders. Flew sorties over Kurdistan and the Persian Gulf, enjoyed buzzing Turkish and Saudi military units and supporting international anti-piracy operations.
+++Why You're Fighting: To honour her ace pilot grandfather's service in the Iran-Iraq War, a misplaced sense of revenge for China's treatment of Uyghurs, a desire to liberate oppressed peoples and pure and simple monetary gain have all been offered as reasons to those who have inquired into Second Lieutenant Valadkhan's motivations. And while all these factors seem to carry merit - her love of her grandfather's stories, her anger and passion for justice, her financial destitution - Valadkhan genuinely seems to have a passion for flying and the thrills it entails.

+++Augmentations: Bionic left arm, tapetum lucidum in eyes granting enhanced low-light vision and (limited) infrared vision.
+++Rank (O-1 or O-2): O-1b, First Lieutenant
+++Call sign: Karim has a list, including "Simurgh", "Talisman", "Shamshir", "Alicat" and "Ayatollah of Rock'n'Rolla". Valadkhan has vetoed the entire list and stands by her superstition that picking their own callsign would be bad luck.
+++Psychological Analysis: Charming a scruffy, laid-back kind of way - at least he thinks he's charming. Karim has been through a rough life and come out... generally unwilling to get worked up about things. He remains easily excited and prone to anxiety over little things and great danger alike, yet often acts - perhaps only appears at times - calm and easy going. Described by some as goofy, Karim seems to use humour to diffuse stressful situations and the scars he carries from a life of turmoil. He does not pretend to be a hero, or a virtuous man, but nevertheless does care about those close to him and wishes to do good.
+++Weaknesses: First Lieutenant Karim can be recklessly blasé to danger at one moment and an anxious wreck another in high stress situations, though his pairing with Second Lieutenant Valadkhan seems choice as she tends to be able to keep him balanced in combat. Karim is also overly laid back, indifferent to concepts military discipline and hierarchy, and is known to spend more effort in avoiding tasks he would rather avoid than it would take him to actually complete said tasks.
+++Likes/Dislikes: Likes: romance movies, sad stories with happy endings, comic books, train surfing, funky music
Dislikes: heights, yelling, grouchy old people, bombing civilian buildings (or civilians period), unnecessary risks, airsickness
+++Interests: Aircraft, football (not the American kind), cars (the American kind), cats, dinosaurs, anime, knitting, picking up a new hobby every other week
+++Fears: Spiders, a painful death, intimacy and attachment

+++Criminal History: Petty theft
+++Skills: Excellent knowledge of the limits and possibilities of air frames and electronics, quick to adapt and improvise solutions, skilled air-to-ground and weapons officer
+++Bio: Growing up in the wartorn nation of Afghanistan, Ibraheem Shah Karim was orphaned by an landmine that killed his sister and parents. Working alongside his uncle in his garage from a young age, Karim proved to be something of a prodigy with machinery and electronics, and later joined the Afghan military to serve in the Afghan Air Force, hoping to earn a living and protect his country. Cutting his teeth repairing and installing non-approved modifications on A-29 Super Tucanos, including leading overhauls to support Afghan special forces commando operations and rigging JDAM guided bomb systems to a Cessna. Dicharged from the Afghan military for misconduct, Karim traveled to Iran in the wake of the Persian Spring to visit what little family he still had, then living as refugees in Tehran.
There, he joined the Iranian Air Force and received further training in advanced aircraft systems, learning from the senior technicians who had kept decades-old F-14 Tomcats flying for years with a prayer and a handful of blackmarket spare parts, becoming a leading figure in the modernization of the indigenous Iranian aircraft industry and serving as an accomplished weapons systems officer. He quickly earned something of a mixed reputation - those who liked him saw a jovial, friendly man who had built himself a set of skills both on the ground and in the air. Those who disliked him saw a lazy, shabby looking hick from a wartorn backwater. The latter tended to be his immediate superior officers, and in time Karim followed the advice of a young woman he'd befriended and left to go find his own little piece of sky.
Turns out mercenary work ain't so bad. Even if Zahra nearly gets him killed every once and awhile.
+++Why You're Fighting: First Lieutenant Karim has gone where the winds have taken him his whole life - it seems his path now leads to the wartorn lands of the Heavenly Kingdom. He likes money, planes, and money - and who was he to argue against Valadkhan when she told him to come? She's kinda scary.
