Okay everyone, we will be time-skipping to the next important mission point in my next post... which will be very soon indeed!

I feel the distinct need to mention that a Vehicle’s battery is the primary means of starting it. You can’t really take it out and start it unless you’re literally turning it over by hand.

I was just about to say that as well... Mercatus, it might be worth editing what George said as, at the moment, it doesn't make much sense for a number of reasons. I am going to move the scene forward, however.

On top of what Sivala pointed out, you also wouldn't need rechargeable capacitors on a petro-chemical vehicle; the alternator would keep the electrical systems running.

Also, you don't need capacitors/batteries/the alternator to heat a petro-chemical vehicle. The heater core transfers heat from the engine block (via the coolant) to the cabin.

I thought the battery going flat only affected electronics? I thought the heaters would be electric too...

Dammit I should've done more research on how cars work.

I just did a quick google search and cars can run without a battery as long as the alternator is there and working, I'll edit accordingly.

No problem! I'd have left it, but I figured I probably wasn't the only one with a bit of mechanical knowledge. I used to have a car and not a lot of money so became rather good at fixing it myself :P

I think you can have electric heaters though I'd imagine the alternator would probably keep them going as well. Though if you have liquid cooling in the vehicle you might as well make the most of the heat that you need to carry away from the engine block.

Also, time skip is up. Think we're in a good position for all characters to get involved again.

Ard... if you liked the idea I sent to you by PM, this would be the moment to go with it.

Should I RP the driving lessons and thieves coming in the middle of the night or no?

Not unless you really want to. If you want to write something, might I suggest you join the Discord and co-write it?

I know we got bogged down a bit when the groups got split up, I'm trying to get everything back on track so the group can move forward with the story!

Well I don't have discord and my parents won't let me use it, maybe we could just say Rebecca learned some basic post-apocalyptic driving and the thieves didn't come that night?

That's a pity. If things do change, you can access it through a web browser... And I maintain a very strict non-toxic server.

If you want to write anything describing Rebecca feel free. You can write her as generally capable but easily frustrated by failure. Overall though she will be thrilled by the opportunity George is giving her and very grateful.

    Image

Equipment: Energy Lance (Think Symmetrical Lance from Dead Cells), Miltary Backpack, 4 plasma grenades

Strengths and Weaknesses
    Skills: Combat Abillites, Hunting abillites
    Weaknesses: Jokes, his jokes suck

Background:
[list]What did you do before the War: Marine Sargent
What do you do now: Hunter and Revolutionary
Personality: All around he's a good man, he's friendly at times and puts off an aura of respect. When he's in "Command Mode" he's a no-nonsense warrior who seeks to do what needs to be done
Backstory: Before the War, Sgt. Riker was a Miltary Sargent at The US Military Dep, PA. he had a wife and kids and was generally an all-around good man. When the Ragon first came to earth, He, along with others fought valiantly to defend it. During the first battle for earth, Riker obtained his famed Energy Lance. His victory was short-lived though when the Ragon returned with their fleet. He and his division fought bravely at the battles of Philly, Newark, and Queens. Sadly, when the Ragon won, he was left alone, with only two of his best men with him. He went home to find his home devastated, and family dead. He couldn't have done anything to save them, but he could find the ones who did this. He and his two men went on a rampage, slaughtering, and Rogans that crossed them. his left-hand man, Corporal Granger, suggested destroying a Rogan school, but Riker refused. Eventually, the group ended up in the place of their last fight, Queens.

I thought I might make another character to introduce along the way, anyways here is the app:

Character Description
    Name: Sergeant Michael Jenkins
    Gender: Male
    Age: 35
    Appearance:
Caucasian male standing at 6'3" with dark red hair and a Crew Cut. He is rather muscular but keeps a smaller profile. He has metal plates covering areas of skin and muscle that were burned off, most notably covering his right eye and sheek and bottom left area on the jaw. His right eye is cybernetic and glows red. His right arm and both legs prosthetic (they look more like something out of Terminator than modern prosthetics.) The uniform/armor that he wears is standard Army green, covering his torso, legs, and arms, and is looks rather bulky.

Equipment: Cybernetics, both internal and external, he requires these in order to live, as many of his internal organs were badly damaged, a few of his bones were also replaced with titanium as well. He has more strength than your average marine because his body doesn't need to supply energy to muscles that don't exist, and standard blows with fists can be more damaging or stunning. Titanium armor with kevlar jumpsuit beneath, will protect against Ragon bites and human bullets, but not against plasma.
Weapons:
M26 Bullpup SOCOM Variant: This rifle came about when US Special Operations Command wanted a bullpup burst rifle that had a full-length barrel and a more powerful cartridge than standard 6.8mm. The result was the M26B1 SOCOM, a powerful three round burst/semi auto rifle that fired from a 21 round magazine and chambered for the new 8x35mm Remington. The 8x35mm Remington, mostly just called 8R by those who know about the cartridge, is a flat-nose round designed to destroy any flesh or bone in its path, and the case holds 2x more powder than the weight of the bullet, helping it achieve high velocities for distance engagement. Michael's rifle has a scope he stole off a DMR, a laser sight, and a flashlight, as well as a unique magazine holder strapped to the opposite side of the action. This rifle can hurt a Ragon more than a standard M26 can, but still won't drop one easily.
M54 Heavy Duty Shotgun: A very powerful and heavy weapon, the gun unloaded weighs 10 pounds, and it even looks bulky. It is chambered in 8 Gauge, and the shells aren't too hard to find if you look for them, as they were recently reinstated to production shortly before the war. The shotgun itself holds 5+1 rounds, and recoils very hard for those who haven't trained with it. As well as that, the muzzle flash is also very prominent, and this gun is not advised for stealth operations. The report is much louder and more noticeable than other weapons. It is very powerful when all the shots hit, and would probably hurt a Ragon much more than most other shotguns and rifles, but the user still has to pump in a lot of lead to kill one.
M7 Pistol: His standard no-frills no-chills pistol, customized with Holographic sight and a flashlight.
Ragon Plasma Knife: A sword in human hands, he found this off of a dead Ragon that he spent much time and effort trying to kill, and this was his reward. The handle is rather heavy and a bit bulky, but in his hands it swings smoothly and swiftly. The blade itself is only a bit shorter than a Longsword, and is colored red.
M3 Combat Knife: His dear old standard issue knife, made of stainless steel and has a green polymer grip. The blade is serrated for easy cutting, and a formidable close-quarters weapon in the right hands.

Strengths and Weaknesses
He requires his cybernetics to live, and if something goes wrong with them it will be very hard to find someone who can fix them. He is, however, incredibly strong even for a marine, able to hit harder with his cybernetic prosthetics tha with non-cybernetic limbs (however, it is not to an overpowering level, just more than your average marine.).
Skills: As to be expected of any space marine, very skilled at combat, but also has learned many useful things when it comes to fighting Ragon. He is a very accurate shooter and also very skilled with the plasma blade. Very skilled with the MCMAP (Marine Corps Martial Arts Program) training he received. He is good at repairing machines, especially weapons. He can also be very intimidating if such intimidation is needed, like in some sort of interrogation, but could do things that may seem a bit brutal, like physical torture.
Weaknesses: Do not, I repeat, DO NOT, put this guy in a position of leadership, he will get confused and not know what to do, and generally doesn't like ordering his comrades around. He also can't swim, and isn't very good at cooking.

Background:
What did you do before the War: Special Operations Marine stationed at the US SOCOM base on Jupiter's moon Io.
What do you do now: For now, he doesn't have any special occupation, and hasn't even met the people who live at the hub yet.
Personality: Has a no-nonsense, tough attitude, and his voice generally commands the same of others. He can come off as a litte too serious sometimes, but he is generally helpful if you get to know him. He doesn't always take insults or confrontation lightly, however. He is still skeptical of Russians, as he fought them years before the Ragon Invasion even happened. Upon meeting new people, he will distrust them greatly because his squadmates left him for dead on Io, believing that people would just betray him.
Backstory: Sergeant Michael Jenkins shipped out to Io after helping squash a violent cell of Brazilian rebels on the home front, and was an American marine stationed in Brazil at the time. When he arrived at Io, he was fighting on the side of NATO against the Russians. Things at the covert SOCOM base remained quiet for about a year until a small Russian fleet discovered the base, after which months of grueling battle ensued. He made many friends as well as lost many friends, and seemed unusually enthusiastic about fighting the Russians. He became such a skilled soldier that he was feared by the Russian infantry stationed on Io. He took well to this, and used that reputation to terrorize the Russians even after most of the fighting subsided. The Command on Io decided to give him a promotion and a small squad, but he failed miserably, saying he preferred just to be a normal infantryman. When the Ragon invasion began, it wasn't long before his base was found and destroyed, and it was during that battle when he sustained his grievous injuries. He was struck be several plasma bolts, had his arm and leg cut off by a Ragon plasma blade, and an explosion burned other areas of his skin and even organs. His squad saw all of this, and left him for dead because of their fear of the advancing Ragons. A surgeon later found him, barely alive on the surface of Io. A procedure that took many hours was performed by the surgeon in a remote outpost, away from Ragon activity. He had to fight and survive on Io when the Ragon garrison was left there, and eventually found an old shuttle that could take him to Mars. On Mars, he fought his way to an abandoned science base that had a return craft back to Earth. He spent 4.5 years in space before crashing in New York City, and has only begun familiarizing himself with the situation, and finds it strange that there seem to be few Ragon vessels left in the Solar System.

One question on this app... What is the energy Lance? If it's a melee weapon that's cool. If it's ranged, we'll need a chat to figure out performance.

Also, the Ragons will always have human soldiers at a massive disadvantage. A Ragon soldier will go through his human opposition like a knife through butter; they're bigger, smarter, stronger, have better senses, better armour and better weapons... Though after the initial invasion in the NY area it will mostly be civilian Ragon hunters killing people for fun. A well trained soldier would stand a decent chance against these guys, but you can assume he has seen a lot of colleagues die in the process.

Ditch the backstory bit about the school. There are a few small Ragon colonies but near the equator and you can assume they are effectively impossible to breach.

Hmm... I like it, nobody had done cybernetics yet, or an offworlder who had found their way back. He's accepted.

Wait, at this point Ertuğrul just walked in and all he said was that he tracks Ragons, meaning, he seeks to find them. He's not trying to come off as a show-off, or even a hero.

Mercatus, it was Trent, not Ertuğrul, who smuggled in the condoms. And why would George just talk shit about Trent right in front of him? Still, that post you made was funny.

Those thoughts are more to do with Hannah's cautious and suspicious nature. She soften in the next post.

Lol George is going to get a few raised eyebrows I'm sure. War zones and other high stress situations don't tend to encourage celibacy.

Remember that Ertuğrul himself isn't using the condoms or having sex with anybody; those 2 other blokes are doing it(literally doing it) behind his back. Ertuğrul's just as disgusted as everyone else, if not more so.

Hello everyone! If it's not too I'd like to apply for this.

Character Description

    Name: Zaiden Pazad

    Gender: Male

Age: Nineteen or twenty. One of those, he can't quite remember.

Appearance: Standing at around 5'6” (167 cm) Zaiden is a pretty typical looking guy, or at least as typical as one can be during the end of the world and neglectful of their appearance. Zaiden has brown eyes and unkempt ear-length hair that dances a fine line between dark brown and black. His physical stature is not entirely impressive as Zaiden has the look of one who's gone without quite a few meals, appearing rather thin in an unhealthy way. His most defining features are his apparent lack of hygiene as Zaiden can often be found with dirt and dust dawning his face and general appearance. Additionally those observant enough will make out a stylized scar on his right cheek in the ever creative shape of an anarchy symbol.

Equipment:
Pipe Slugger- Zaiden is equipped rather poorly, probably to be expected from one of his profession. The Pipe Slugger is a clear sign of this. As its name might suggest this weapon is nothing more than a shoddy makeshift smg which is just as likely to jam as it is to actually fire. Designed less for actual offensive combat and more for intimidation purposes, this weapon is capable of wounding an opponent but is practically useless against well armoured individuals and laughable against Ragons.

Serrated Hatchet - a modified version of a common wood hatchet, it's blade had been replaced with a serrated blade. Another weapon meant for "persuading" others, but if needed this weapon makes a competent enough melee option.

Strengths and Weaknesses

    Skills:
Having the pleasure of living in a wonderful paradise known as a Ragon farming settlement and later being “strongly encouraged” to join a band of merry scavengers wrongly labeled raiders, Zaiden is, if nothing else, resilient.

If ever there was something Zaiden could thank the Ragons for it was igniting a passion for farming and plants, granted it wasn’t exactly optional. Though hardly a botanist or anything remotely close to a biologist Zaiden has enough knowledge on plants to at least be something of an amateur farmer. Capable of identifying some plants and their possible properties.

    Weaknesses:
Surviving out in this brave new apocalyptic world isn't as simple as seems. Or at least not for Zaiden. Especially not with the fine fellows he's managed to keep company with. In his groups desperation for food and rationing Zaiden has settled for living off sugar every now and then. Its small, easy to carry, and neatly packaged in cute colorful little pouches. The point is Zaiden knows sugar. He knows it perhaps too well, so well in fact that he's become something of a sugar addict. This can lead him to value the sweet substance over anything else if his addiction is not catered to.

Zaiden's a farmer, even if not by choice that's all he really knows how to do. All that fancy shnazy sciencey stuff, including high tech objects is beyond him. Not that he couldn't learn about it. Just don't expect him to be the most tech savvy person out there.

Background:
What did you do before the War:
Zaiden was a freshman in high school when the invasion happened. He always heard high school was a wild time, just never thought it would be that wild. There was also that time when he worked in a farming settlement. Not exactly the best or safest of working conditions but at least the Ragons offered something in the way of an occupation. Even if it was mandatory.

    What do you do now:
This brave new world doesn't offer many career paths. At least none that Zaiden really knows about. These days he occupies his time as a scavenger with others. Sure their method's aren't exactly orthodox and they may 'procure' a lot of items from others without their explicit knowledge or permission, but it's steady work. Some might see this as banditry but Zaiden prefers to call it preferential survival.

    Personality:
Zaiden knows two things: survival and sugar. Survival to get sugar, and sugar to maintain survival. This addiction has practically become his personality causing him to be impulsive and moody depending on if he gets his fix. That being said Zaiden has enough self awareness to know not to pick random fights unless it's certain he can win. After all can't get any sugar if your dead.

    Backstory:
Other than being a student at his local highschool Zaiden didn't really do much. His life wasn't exactly the most exciting especially coming from some middle of nowhere small town in the US Midwest. It wasn't until the first Ragon ships came that anything became remotely interesting in his little part of the world. The Fanfare of what was believed to be the victory over the invaders was not lost on Zaiden’s town. The Parties, that excitement, the food, he remembers it all well, event small talk of the war with the russkies possibly ending. Those were probably one of his few really good memories from back then. Of course it was short-lived. Then the actual invasion began. At first communication with the outside was cut off. No one in Zaiden’s town really knew what was going on just that something was happening. Still in high spirits from the last "victory" against the Invaders, the town formed a small malita believing that either the Alien menace would be repelled again or be weakened enough that the town could fend them off. Least to say the fight didn't last long. Zaiden still isn't entirely sure how it all went down only that he ran. Ran into the cornfields in a vain attempt to escape. One of creatures caught him, but instead of outright killing him then and there Zaiden was taken captive. He was lucky as far as he knows he was the only survivor that day. His last memory of then being the burning ruins of what he used to call his home.

His life after that was mostly dull, or as dull as being prisoner to hulking man eating aliens can be. He was moved from settlement to settlement carrying out whatever tasks the Ragons demanded of him and his fellow prisoners. More often than not though Zaiden would end up farming. It was here he first tasted sugar, often using it as a supplement for his lack of meals. He probably was just too young or deemed too weak to be of any use for the Ragons or so he figured. Maybe that's how he was lucky enough to survive this long? Zaiden got his big break when he and other prisoners were being transported to another facility. Their transport was ambushed by resistance fighters, and during the chaos Zaiden and a few others manged to make a break for it running anywhere. Anywhere that was far away. He's not sure if any of the others or resistance made it, but their sacrifice gave him his freedom. Even freedom has a cost these days, for Zaiden being alone and unfamiliar with the outside that cost came when he was conscripted to join a pack of raiders being given the alternative of dying. It wasn't so much that which convinced him though, rather it was the peculiar pink pouch dangling from one of his new captors packs. Sugar. Branded with an anarchy symbol on his right cheek, the symbol of his "crew", Zaiden now roams this new world on a never ending search for another hit of the succulent paradise of crystalized sweetness.
