TASK FORCE AEGIS SAFEHOUSE
NAKASONGOLA
Uganda Province, Central African Association of Nations

Nakasongola was a small, but thriving town of approximately 29,000 people. With a bustling downtown market of various fruits, agricultural products, and exotic goods such as coffee beans, the town seemed much larger than it actually was. The quick and steady modernization of the Central African Association of Nations (CAAN) had brought a swift economic growth to the town. Its houses were mostly solid concrete houses, with their walls painted light pastel colours to help reflect the sun's rays away. The build-up was mostly concentrated around the three criss-crossing roads that made up the downtown area, with narrow, winding alleyways populating the town. Nakasongola thrived on those who were passing through the town towards the larger northern cities of Gulu and Lira. However, the provincial government maintained a loose presence here despite the town's proximity to the capital of Kampala, making it ideal for Task Force Aegis to set up a safehouse here.

The safehouse, from its appearance outside, was a one-story, narrow building, with almost an abandoned look to its exterior. Located in the backstreets of the downtown area, the safehouse was in a populated yet also in a secluded area at the same time. With the majority of its windows boarded up from the inside, many of the local residents pay no attention to the building itself. In order to maintain its rundown exterior, the immediate interior of the house is given a very "abandoned" aesthetic to it. Upon further inspection however, many could notice a few boards out of place, or a couple of refurbished pieces of furniture in the house. Throughout the house, in hidden caches, ammunition, extra weapons, equipment, MREs, logistics, and other important pieces vital to a successful operation can be found. The upstairs bedrooms are all furnished with beds, and a small desk, where a laptop could fit easily.

The house in general, is a high-tech set-up designed by the CIA, and was meant to be a back-up in case of the main safehouse in Kampala being compromised. As a result, it was not on any of the files or computers recovered by the CAAN forces. Thanks to this, Task Force Aegis' presence in Nakasongola, and the CAAN in general, has been unnoticed. Operatives have been inserted via border smuggling from Somalia, Sudan, and Ethiopia, and have gone undetected by CAAN authorities. All of their equipment has been placed at the safehouse, where the operatives are now able to plan their operations against the CAAN authority to accomplish their mission.

OPERATION GRIZZLY - Day 1
'Safehouse', Uganda Province, CAAN
NATO - Task Force Aegis
TASK FORCE AEGIS PERSONNEL REPORT - CONFIDENTIAL - DESTROY UPON COMPROMISE

It was a grizzly day for Cédric. When men in black suits approached him with the prospect of international service, up-close and personal with the thrill of danger, capping bad guys in the name of NATO, Cédric couldn't have asked for anything less. After a measly night in 'the Safehouse', he'd be willing to trade in his sister for a decent bed and some bug spray.

It was excruciatingly hot in the compact building, and if the CIA were courteous enough to provide their front-line personnel who were responsible for protecting their paychecks (over human net-worth) a simple air-conditioner, they didn't bother telling anyone he knew how to use it. Cédric knew for certain that he had packed a personal fan, but wasn't willing to pause his impromptu game of solitaire to even bother searching the dozens of sealed caches, one of which had his belongings. In his rolled up dress-shirt, worn rosary, and khaki pants, he tried to concentrate on anything -his deck, his cigarette, his fantastic looks- anything to keep his mind off of the shithole he somehow managed to find himself in. How long does it take for an informant to reach the CIA's special-agent hotspot in the middle of nowhere to give a simple briefing? If his superiors don't give him the green light to kill a bad guy in another day, he might have to go AWOL. Only after this thought had it dawned on Cédric that he may have made a mistake, as rare as mistakes are made for him.

"I could have had a comfy desk job in the Montreal Department. Instead I've resorted to playing solitaire", Cédric stated out-loud without looking up.

"Is anyone else feeling this gargantuan sense of dread and monumental regret, or is that just me?"

Cédric puffed his cigarette before reaching for another, preparing to dump the one he had in his mouth. He was bold to assume that the battle-hardened group of killers he was with wouldn't mind.

OPERATION "GRIZZLY"
2225 Hours
Nakasongola, Uganda Province, CAAN
Task Force Aegis

The night insert of Task Force Aegis had gone fairly well. The majority of the assigned team had arrived safely at the safehouse, with no visible tails or MIAs. The last thing the operation needed right off the bat was a bonafide shitshow and for the KIAs to start rolling in before any progress had been made here. While the Uganda Province, in CAAN's eyes, was a safe and secure location where little to no hostile threats could be present, the recent bust of the CIA operatives must have had the locals on high alert regardless. It was Hoffman's fear that they would be compromised before even being able to step foot in Kampala. They needed to get their assets back, including HORNET.

The humid, tropical heat of the Uganda Province was definitely something Hoffman was not used to. He noted this as he sat on one of the cots used by the operatives as beds, reviewing a small, military-grade tablet. That tablet, was one of the only ways Task Force Aegis could communicate with their higher-ups. Essentially, the "important" operatives got one, mainly those in charge of intelligence, drones, and reconnaissance. It had everything from briefings, to notes on targets, to much more. Nothing was classified for Aegis, and it became painfully noticeable with the briefings where Hoffman usually had to go through pages and pages of filler just to get to the good parts.

Operation "GRIZZLY" was no exception to this. Hoffman fluffed his pastel shirt to create a gust of air underneath it to help himself cool down. For all the CIA was given in terms of assets, they go ahead and get compromised, and don't even leave a working fan in their back-up safehouse. How the hell was Aegis supposed to survive here? Regardless, Hoffman had to get through this mini-briefing, just so he could figure out what Aegis' first plan of attack was.

Their target was a local military airbase, about 5-10 kilometers north of them. Despite being a critical part of CAAN's military presence in the Uganda Province, it had little to offer in terms of assets. A light garrison of about a platoon worth of regulars and a company of provincial militia company guarded a couple of helicopters and a single, yeah a single, fighter jet. NATO's intelligence on the site suggested that the brand new military airport near Kyenjojo was a much tougher target. Regardless, a quick raid on the Nakasongola site would be a simple task for Aegis, a way to ease back into things.

Hoffman sighed, shut off the tablet, and tossed it onto the cot behind him as he stood up. Making his way downstairs to where the Aegis operatives should be located, he noted one of the newbies, Cedric Lagare, making small chatter and deciding to smoke a cigarette in the safehouse. This, was Hoffman's pointman for the operation? A kid who definitely should've been in university, but instead thanks to some pencil-pushing, had ended up in Aegis. And instead of shotgunning Molson Canadians in the bathroom of some dorm, he was instead going to be shotgunning down doors alongside peers easily a decade older than him.

Jesus. Fuck.

"Lagare," Hoffman quietly growled at the youngster, making eye contact with him. "No smoking in the penthouse. We're supposed to be ghosts right now."

Quickly, turning his attention to the rest of the operators, Hoffman nodded.

"Alright, let's have a chat guys."

Staff Sergeant Nevaeh "Nev" O'Davoren
Explosives Tech/Demolitions
TF Aegis Safehouse, Nakasongola
Uganda, CAAN
2225 Hours

The first thing Nev did when she arrived was sort out her own gear. If for whatever ungodly reason the Skinnies rolled up outside their lovely little hotel, one didn't have the luxury of digging through boxes to find a gun, better to get kitted earlier rather than later. After that, sleep as someone took watch.

The safehouse was quaint. At least it was an actual building with actual furniture instead of a dirt hole in the ground or some godforsaken cave in Syria or Iraq. Her time with the 33rd and SAS were all spent in desert or arid highlands. Heat stopped bothering her years ago, despite being born in the nigh subarctic of Belfast. Snow was a stillborn dream at this point, rain a distant friend that only came around when she was in Hereford. The smell of sloe in the countryside had long since faded from memory, replaced by cosmoline and gunpowder.

UKSF selection had weeded out any right to complain from Nev, Belize wasn't too far flung from Uganda in terms of climate and fauna, even down to the malarial water. So the humidity and bugs in the region weren't as effective at annoying her. Nev had learned her lesson in central america, bug spray and anti-malarial pills a clear indication of that. As of right now, she was simply staring out of the first floor window, a crack about half a centimeter wide. Eyes boring a hole into any vehicle or person who happened by at this time of night. While the CAAN was far flung from the other parts of Africa, it still wasn't a place to walk around in the dead of night, so to say there wasn't a whole lot of movement would be an understatement.

Every so often, her mind would wander to their objective here. Three captured Yankee intel officers, which were to be retrieved if possible or shot if not. A grim conclusion that Nev would like to avoid, but sometimes one didn't have the liberty of options. There was also the issue of one of their own, known simply as 'Hornet', likely being in hostile hands. Not a great situation for him, but if his training was anything like Nev's, he'd hopefully still be tight lipped. If not, Nev could understand, human mind and body could only take so much before survival instinct kicked in. Only a certain amount of time before the reptile braining took over and did what it could to get whatever duress to stop. If possible they'd be locating Chicom gear and Skinny HVTs, those tasks took a backseat to non priority objectives.

The smell of cigarette smoke finally got to Nev, and for the first time in nearly 8 hours she looked away from her little spot at the window. Eyes bearing down on the chain smoking Quebecois, Nev was moments away from saying something as the man reached for the next out of God knows how many cancer sticks. Instead of that however, Hoff said all that needed to be said. If anyone on this team needed to be told something more than once, they were beyond a liability, so Nev figured she wouldn't have to say anything. Nev's gaze went back through the crack in the boards, as her ears took rapt attention to Hoff.

Staff Sergeant Scott"Fish" Fisher
Designated Marksman/Sniper
TF Aegis Safehouse, Nakasongola
Uganda, CAAN

2230 Hours

Africa, why did it have to be Africa? Scott had operated on the continent before, particularly in the northern part of the continent, but this far south was new. The air was sticky, even in the low fading light of the day. Scott did his best to keep his head down and covered beneath a hat and sunglasses. While a white person in this area wasn't unheard of given the recent investments and development in the region, he didn't want to attract attention.

The surrounding houses reminded Scott of South America, with their pastel shades doing their best to bring some color to the town. All around, he could hear the sounds of people eating dinner, listening to the radio, or yelling from house to house. He did his best to dodge some children playing soccer in the main thoroughfare, the ball skidding in front of him a few feet. The children did not even bother to look in Scott's direction as they sprinted past, chasing the ball down another side street.

Exposed, that is how Scott felt. They knew the CAAN was on alert, even given their recent success. If they did have those operatives in custody, the CAAN must know that NATO would send someone to attempt a rescue. With luck, the CAAN would assume that any sort of insertion and gathering of resources would take time, and they would be caught off guard with the swiftness of the response. The PRC was also supposed to have potential assets in play as well, and while Scott was doubtful of the CAAN forces' skill, he was sure the PRC knew their business.

Owing to his training, Scott spared looks at the rooftops as he made his way down the street. Most buildings were relatively squat, with open roofs. Plenty of spots for him to get a good vantage, but also good placement for a potential ambush. The team would need to play it careful, potentially split up when enroute to an objective. Getting bogged down in one of these streets with no backup would be the end of it.

In a seemingly forgotten corner of the town, Scott finally came upon the safehouse. As expected, it was about as unremarkable as it gets from the outside, and clearly had little of the lived-in charm that many of the other dwellings deeper in the town possessed. Entering through the discreet doorway into the safehouse itself. If Scott thought it was muggy outside, in the building felt like he just stepped into Satan’s armpit.

Looking around the room, Scott saw the faces of his new team. Among them, a kid playing cards, a tall, scowling woman, and the sarge, easy to identify with the beard. Hoffman, he recalled.

“I was hoping for the Four Seasons, but this has its charms too,” Scott said, to no one in particular as he set his bag down.

No one seemed particularly enthused with his joke, but Scott knew that this would be a particular heavy group. In order to even be aware that TFA exists, you had to be swimming in some gritty channels.

He nodded at the faces around the room.

“I'm Fish, looking forward to doing some good with you all,” he said, taking a seat while all eyes turned to Hoffman.

OPERATION GRIZZLY - Day 1
'Safehouse', Uganda Province, CAAN
NATO - Task Force Aegis
Cédric looked at the Captain and took one more puff as he put his deck of cards away.

"Alright Chief, but If I really wanted to be a ghost all I'd have to do is just down a few more of these."

He discarded his cigarette and cleared the coffee tabled before adjusting himself in the sofa to face the team leader with full attentiveness. He caught a glimpse of 'Fish' speaking from the other end of the room. What the hell kind of a name is 'Fish', eh? Must've done something real embarrasing to be stuck with that nickname, but with a sense of humour like his, he'd be good company in a losing firefight - Cédric expected a lot of those.

Next to him was the solitary Imperialist Brit' who oddly enough wouldn't take her eyes off a crack in the boarded up windows. Had she found a rock to colonise or something? Cédric had his fair share of shy kids but shed off that attitude when he reached adulthood. He hoped she could actually speak.

Cédric returned his focus to the Hoffman. He looked at him with blue puppy eyes.

Mcpl. Sogand Najafi
TF Aegis Safehouse, Nakasongola
Uganda, CAAN
2225 Hours

The tropical African weather was almost unbearable for Sogand. She had spent the better part of the last 6 years in Arabian deserts or Afghan mountains. She grew up in southern Alberta with its extreme cold in the winter and extreme dry heat in the summer. She could handle all of that. But operational requirements for CSOR we heavily focused to Canada's commitments in the middle east and the possibility of having to counter Russian aggression in Europe. Jungle warfare training wasn't a focus. The safehouse had no air conditioning either, making the effects of the climate even worse. She'd already gone through who knows how many bottles of water. At least the moisture wicking fabric of her combat shirt helped prevent discomfort from sweat to a certain extent.

From the time she arrived at the safehouse, she had been going over intelligence and mission information. Alongside being a capable operator, intelligence collection and analysis was her job. For now though, she only had the same intel everyone else had. More would need to be collected in the field. Hopefully it wasn't all in Swahili...

The small table she was using as a desk wasn't exactly the most well organized place either. Papers were messily stacked, a collection of water bottles was accumulating, and a cup of cold coffee was dangerously close to falling off the edge. A plate carrier, C8 carbine, and ballistic helmet were propped against the table. It wasn't the clean, air conditioned CSIS office she could have been working in had she just gone to university instead of getting sucked into the military world, but it would do.

The team for this op was quite a mixture. There was another Canadian which was a welcome sign. A JTF2 operator from Quebec. Unfortunately, he was a heavy smoker which made the safehouse even more miserable. An American sharpshooter was also on the team. He seemed like a decent guy who tried to use humour to make the best of bad situations. It was usually good to have someone like that on your team in her experience. Another woman was on the team, an explosives expert from Northern Ireland. She kept up watch, at least someone was doing so. And finally, their American team leader, who had just come to deliver their briefing. Sogand turned her chair around to face the team leader, while the Quebecois made a comment about air conditioning.

OPERATION "GRIZZLY"
2225 Hours
Nakasongola, Uganda Province, CAAN
Task Force Aegis

Much like his fellow teammates, Wojciech was quietly suffering through the jungle heat of East Africa. Despite having been in Afghanistan earlier this year, even Wojciech hated what Africa was dishing out, as apparently there was a major difference between a dry heat and a humid heat. Still, Wojciech didn't make much of a fuss out of it, he wasn't the type to complain about something he couldn't change...or complain out loud anyway. Wojciech was more of the quiet type, and so he didn't draw much attention from the other operatives despite being one of the first to arrive at the safehouse thanks to the staggered schedule the group had kept for insertion into the country. And so, as everyone was gathered in the main room to listen to the team leader, Wojciech entered as well from the kitchen where he'd been laying low in the corner.

Garbed in khaki cargo pants, black combat boots, an olive drab combat t-shirt, and a black belt which supported his holstered FNX-45, Wojciech found a spot to lean back on the wall to listen to Hoff. Scanning the room Wojciech took account of the others, giving a respectful nod to the team leader when his gaze fell on the man, but otherwise reserving judgement on his other teammates.

'They're all better experienced than me anyway...well, except for that Canadian kid, I definitely have more experience than him.' Wojciech thought with a mental smile, making sure to keep his poker face to avoid standing out from the rest of these down-to-business comrades.

Alex "Hoff" Hoffman - TEMPEST ACTUAL
Image

OPERATION "GRIZZLY"
2225 Hours
Nakasongola, Uganda Province, CAAN
Task Force Aegis
As the team made their way into the room and took their positions, Hoffman cleared his throat. Whilst he was familiar with a few of the operatives, he had not worked closely with them. Instead, he was more familiar with a couple of operators he had served with in Venezuela and Indonesia. Despite this, NATO had given him, what felt like, a "prove-it" array of operatives. A challenge, or an opportunity. Regardless, it didn't matter in the grand scheme of things. They were here to complete two objectives: either recover or eliminate the CIA operatives, and recover Task Force Aegis Asset HORNET. WASP, or as Hoffman had known him as Mikey, had been killed in the CAAN raid on the CIA safehouse in Kampala. Everything was supposed to be professional, but deep down, Hoffman felt like the death of a comrade made things a little bit more personal.

"Alright, good to see we're mostly all here." Hoffman began, making eye contact with the team members looking at him. "Welcome to the Uganda Province. As you all know, we're here to recover four HVTs, three of which can be expendable if necessary. Our goal here is to complete our mission without drawing too much attention to ourselves. That means, suppressors, minimal casualties, and absolute stealth. We're ghosts."

Taking out a small electronic device, Hoffman reviewed the screen's contents as he began the impromptu briefing, trying to avoid as much talking as possible. The more words that were spoken, the more their risk of being compromised rose. In the essence of things, it was a dumb thing to think, but you could never be too careful. They had to know everything, yet if captured, could not pose the risk of compromising the entire operation. There would be a global war if that were the case, and no one really wanted that.

"As you may have guessed from the files you were given before your insertion prepared by HOPLITE, the CIA's experienced a setback of some sorts here in CAAN. By setback, I mean their local operatives got cocky, disorganized, and allowed themselves to get compromised. CAAN recently launched a raid on a CIA safehouse in the provincial capital of Kampala, capturing all three operatives, taking one of our own, and killing another." Sighing, Hoffman ran his hand through his hair. "Since, y'know, this is the Uganda Province, CAAN's home turf, we're not expecting that heavy of a security presence here. That being said, we do need to figure out the lay of the land, and to start trying to pinpoint where we can get our boys."

Stepping forward, Hoffman produced a file, inside of which contained various satellite photos of a small military airbase. Additionally, photos of the two optional targets, Lieutenant Colonel Kibuuka Tikumanda and Major Damba D'Uganja, popped out with a small report of them. As he did this, Hoffman turned back around to face the team. He wanted each of them to be informed of what they were getting into. On top of that, he wanted to minimize casualties and conflicts between them and the CAAN regulars nearby.

"I pulled some strings and got a couple of photos of a potential location we can raid for intel." Hoffman shrugged, as if to be somewhat proud of himself. "ARCHER's online for any recon assistance from the satellites. In general, we're going to be hitting an airbase for intel on the local area. As far as we know, the security there is pretty light, with barely any regulars to worry about, and only a company of provincial infantry to focus on. They're motorized, not mechanized as far as we know, and they're decommissioning the airbase for a brand-new one near Kyenjojo. When we hit this, we hit it hard, we hit it fast, and we get what we need before booking it before any QRFs are formed. The last thing we need is to be bogged down.

"For this, I'm gonna need Fish and Nev on overwatch, Nev's spotting. There's a large hill that overlooks the airbase about half a klick south-west of the strip. Nev, bring a LAW, just in case. If we go loud, and we get hit by armour, I need you to be as diligent with that fucker as possible. Fish, until you hear from me, you don't fire. You guy's will be Tempest 2. Tempest 1 is myself, Marszalek, Lagare, and Najafi. Like I said before, we're going in fast and hard, and getting out of there before they even know we're here. That means, Najafi, you gotta be quick on your shit. Reports show that the ATC building has a small memory bank in the tower itself, so that'll be our target. Take a quick look at the map there. ARCHER has mapped out two potential insertion points as well as an overwatch position that can see all of the MSRs going into the airbase that don't lead from civie areas. If you guys have any questions, now's the time. Otherwise, we're kicking shit off at 0300 hours."

Cédric looked up at the Captain and tried to convince himself he brought his 9mm silencer. He adjusted his tie.

"Uh- yes sir."

Cédric raised his hand and spoke,

"Rules of engagement; does 'minimal casualties' mean covert and non-lethal for as long as possible?"

He stood up and grabbed the map off of the file,

"And we only need intelligence, right? So the ATC Tower is the only thing we're hitting?"

Iakovos Manakis
Opertion Grizzy
2225 Hours
Nakasongola, Uganda Province, CAAN
Task Force Aegis

It was a nice change of scenery from Afghanistan since that was the only county he has visited since joining the military. For once he is not in a quarter-mile of sand and not near any camel spiders. Nearly got hit by one while relaxing at a base and why do they have to be so big. The heat though was something he was not used to and wondered why the CIA did not have at least a fan in this place. Even at night, it was freakin hot but, he did his best to hide his discomfort. No one wanted to hear someone complain about the heat even though Iakovos would be okay to someone complaining once.

Iakovos had not talked to any of his teammates, sticking to himself and did not draw attention to himself. He does not know much about his new teammates, only some passing information about them. Some Americans, Canadians, Polish and British. He has worked with Americans and the British before back in Afghanistan. Iakovos had no complaints about them and thought that things should go smoothly with working with his teammates. That is unless something bad happens or he finds out that one of his teammates happens to be a prick. As long no one is like Photios and his overly cocky attitude that purposely hit his old scar which caused Iakovos massive pain. He knew it pained Iakovos and he did it to get a kick out of him. Iakovos was glad that he does not have to deal with Photios anymore after he joined the 13th.

Iakovos barely got to the room in time for the briefing and quietly moved to the back of the room. Leaning against the wall and listened to what Hoffman started to talk. So the CIA operatives screwed themselves and got themselves captured while they were in their safehouse. Iakovos signed, and all the while in CAAN's backyard, these CIA better be thankful for the rescue once this is over. Iakovos was optimistic about this mission even though he knew full well that things can easily hit the fan. Given how this is a stealth mission and to keep casualties to a minimum. And maybe getting the secondary targets that are nearby, this Lieutenant Colonel Kibuuka Tikumanda and Major Damba D'Uganja. Just maybe they can get those two but, Iakovos is more focused on getting the CIA out.

That is odd, he thought as Hoffman listed who was going to be on what team and he was not mentioned. Iakovos waited until Hoffman was done speaking before speaking up and partly raised his hand. "Sir what about me? Where do I fit in?

The gathered team was varied. The Polack with a few red crosses on him, Marszalek; the Yankee sharpshooter she was paired with, Fish; The cig fiend Neo-Frog, Lagare; Iakavos, a Greek autorifleman; Najafi, a canuck who seemed mildly out of place with her camera, and of course, herself. It was multinational alright, people from all walks of life about to assault an airbase to save 4 Americans... If Hoff hadn't said what he just did, Nev would've quipped something.

Ontorisa wrote:"For this, I'm gonna need Fish and Nev on overwatch, Nev's spotting. There's a large hill that overlooks the airbase about half a klick south-west of the strip. Nev, bring a LAW, just in case. If we go loud, and we get hit by armour, I need you to be as diligent with that fucker as possible."

Nev winced looking away from her crack in the window, the M72 was not known to be a long range launcher, neither was the AT-4. Both of them were disposable tubes meant for if a squad got caught against armor with their arse hanging out. Neither had a snowball's chance in hell of hitting the target after two maybe three hundred meters. Let alone half a kilometer. As far as Nev was aware, those were the only launcher they had in the safehouse.

"Problem. LAW's max combat range is at best 200 meters. AT-4's not much better. Half a klick is out of the picture, otherwise I'm gonna have to close in to reasonable range, leaving Fish alone, or I'll have to stay with him, exposing our position and, make right fucking bags of the shot, even if myself and Fish carried two LAWs each the odds wouldn't be great. If there's an NLAW or a Javelin collecting dust somewhere in this shack I'll gladly lug that along. Otherwise the only people with any chance of hitting an AFV at that range is you lot. Sorry to say."

Scott "Fish" Fisher
Opertion Grizzy
2230 Hours
Nakasongola, Uganda Province, CAAN
Task Force Aegis

Scott looked at the map, paying attention to the topographical marketings. The spot Hoffman picked would work, but Nev was right. They were too far to do anything with the launchers, at least directly. Nev could move and provide more direct cover, but then she would be out in the wind, and Scott wasn’t sure he could cover her and the team if things went south. The MSR would get the job done against anything they might run into on this mission, but such a wide field of support would be cutting it close.

“If there's an NLAW or a Javelin collecting dust somewhere in this shack I'll gladly lug that along.” Nev said. “Otherwise the only people with any chance of hitting an AFV at that range is you lot. Sorry to say."

“Mortars might get it done, if we had any.” Scott said, glancing around the room. “And I’d hate to waste a Javelin on something like this.”

He looked down at the map, tracing the routes the enemy might take to and from the base. Getting the CAAN bogged down in cover while Tempest 1 made their escape would be the priority, if it came to that. Odds are they didn’t want their first action in Uganda to be a firefight against a few platoons of locals. That might stir the hornets’ nest enough to make the next phases more difficult.

Still, if armor showed up, the infil team may be in trouble. Difficult to go hard and fast carrying heavy equipment, and Scott wasn’t sure how much training these folks had aside from the basics on a launcher.

“Hoff, how about a swap,” Scott said, looking at his team leader. “What if we put Nev on the infil team, and put Manakis with me,” he said, pointing to the new guy. “You’re our heavy fire support, right? Put us on the hill, we can clear you a lane if it comes to that and Nev is close enough to use her toys.”

The idea had potential, Scott thought. If they wanted to be fast, carrying around a heavy machine gun wasn't going to cut it, and they needed to keep the enemy pinned down first and foremost, rather than slug it out in a long term engagement. Manakis and he would have to set up their hides correctly, and the gunner wouldn't be right next to Scott on the hill in order to reduce the chances the enemy would track both their positions, but it would give Tempest 1 the flexibility needed to complete the mission.

OPERATION "GRIZZLY"
2230 Hours
Nakasongola, Uganda Province, CAAN
Task Force Aegis
Hoffman listened to the team's concerns about the operation, as well as their revised course of action. Nodding to O'Davoren, Hoffman silently agreed with the Explosives Techie, as he had forgotten about Manakis at the meeting. The guy hadn't made himself known to the group, and so Hoffman had just glossed over the automatic rifleman. Nevertheless, they were flexible, and it worked perfectly as Hoffman had no need for an automatic rifleman for the assault team, yet.

"Rules of engagement is if you can, avoid dropping guys. But we're still going lethal for this." Hoffman looked over at Lagare. "Just keep it quiet, suppressors on. Essentially though, the goal is to hit the ATC as soon as possible. If we feel like we're too exposed at the airfield, we can always hit the electrical station to cause a distraction and get some patrols out of place."

"Iakovos, right? I'll have you roll with Fisher instead. Our assault team needs to be fast and I don't think we'll need a light machine gun with us, not yet." Hoffman nodded to Fisher. "You guys keep us safe on overwatch, and light anything the fuck up that comes on the MSR. I don't need an IFV dropping on us outta nowhere."

"Alright, if you guys have any more questions, now's the time. Otherwise, get ready, get your gear, and get set. We'll be inserting at Entry Point Bravo, and EXFIL through Alpha."

OPERATION GRIZZLY - Day 1
'Safehouse', Uganda Province, CAAN
NATO - Task Force Aegis
Cédric looked up and down at the battle-plan once more.

"All seems well. Sounds good Chief."

Cédric turned to Najafi.

"Sogand, I'm counting on you to keep me covered for all entry-points. Every Canuck should be on the same page."

He gave a smile, and a nod, then headed upstairs and out of earshot to unload his cache.

Staff Sergeant Nevaeh "Nev" O'Davoren

With mentions of hitting the substation, Nev perked up, a notable grin on her face, "Gimme five minutes at the substation and I can rig it to light up brighter than RAF Fauld." a pause, "Or if need be I can make it seem like an electrical fault. Obviously the latter's less fun but probably a bit more discreet. Just lemme know when we're out there."

With that, Nev headed upstairs to get fully kitted out. Going with her usual collection of kit with an extra M72. Uncommon knowledge was that three M72s still weighed less than a single AT-4. In her time with the SAS if Armor was expected it wasn't uncommon for teams to carry two or three a piece. It helped give some assurance when your whole squad could nail a T-72 twenty one seperate times. Though for this op, two was enough. Next was the actual explosives bit of her gear, usually she'd only take what was necessary to blow open a door, but stealth was the only option in this mission. Meaning it was to be a simple 2 charges and about 12 feet of det cord. Associated blasting caps and an unrigged detonator were stuffed into her assault pack. Her rifle was the bog standard with a foregrip and ACOG. On the left side of the upper receiver "Lúin Celtchair" was etched into the frame.

In due time, Nev was fully set and ready to go, simply waiting for the confirmation.

OPERATION "GRIZZLY"
2230 Hours
Nakasongola, Uganda Province, CAAN
Task Force Aegis
Hoffman noted everyone's input, nodding to O'Davoren's offer. If they found that the airbase would be too tough to penetrate, they would most likely opt for sabotage in order to make it easier for Task Force Aegis to infiltrate the base. Otherwise, they would have to try their best to avoid making too much noise, and to give away their presence in CAAN.

"Alright, if there are no more questions, get set. We're kicking off at 0300 Hours." Hoffman started to turn away, before he shot another glance at the team still present. "Keep it quiet, remember."
