Nate

Nate and Gregor were several shots into a drinking game. It was weird, ever since he had gotten fast, Nate had suddenly been able to consume far more than he had used to, without even half the effects. Downing the last shot of rum in the line the pair had set, Nate wiped his lips and said "You've lost big fellah."

Gregor looked up, saw that he still had half the line of shots left, and waved his hand, standing up. Mark laughed as the large outside stumbled off the porch saying something along the lines of "I'm gonna piss, no one fuck with my drinks."

Nate chuckled a bit before leaning back a bit and saying to Mark "You ever get tired of this dude? Surely there are places more interesting to blow your summer money at than this shit hole."

Mark leaned back against the kitchen counter as well and said "I guess, but in a way, I don't know. Growing up in boarding schools and shit, this is the only time that ever felt like home growing up."

"Funny, it is my home, and I'd do anything to get out of it." Nate stood up and wandered around the house before finding a group of four people having a smoke. Nate pulled a blunt out of his own pocket and producing a lighter, lit it up before joining in with the group. Offering it to Izzy, he blew out a puff and said "Here you go. Sorry to overhear things, small party is all. I dunno, I haven't noticed anything too weird out in the scrap, though I generally stay off the stuff that makes you see those things. How bout you Logan?"

Entering and shutting the door behind him he spoke in low tones "5 days ago i got a bad headache and the next thing I knew... I was different... Seems like something similar happened to you both?"

Stephen nodded, he was pretty sure something was wrong for the past five days, like, something changed in him, then there was today, and that, hallucination (?) in the bathroom, he wasn't sure how to describe it, it felt more real than a hallucination, but he also heard that hallucinations looked very realistic, and this headache, it couldn't have been nothing

Freddy was glad to get out of the kitchen. Lots of other people - most he didn't know, but recognized a customer or three - were coming in and leaving. He was relieved to have gotten out of there.

And when Glen asked about getting a headache 5 days ago and Stephen nodded, that made this weird week really weird for him. "Wait a minute. 5 days ago for me, I didn't get a headache per se, but it was a more like a body ache. Like every cell in my body was sore."

Something weird was definitely going on.

Dentali wrote:
Glen says "alright im trusting you guys here..." Glen walked over and with one hand lifted a heavy cabinet in the room, not breaking a sweat. It was obvious given his build the inability to do this normally, clearly something weird was going on. Glen proceeded to go around the room performing feats of strength, showing that he did indeed have abilities that were unnatural.

Freddy's eyes bulged, and he felt something he hadn't expected to feel at all that day. Freddy felt thankful. Thankful that he was not the only one. He smiled and his eyes began to move to tears, though he tried to hide them.

"Then I'm not going insane," he thought to himself.

Clapping softly at Glen's feat of strength, Freddy breathed in deeply and said, "K. My turn." Taking a few more breaths in and out, Freddy thought of the guy he had seen in the mirror that morning, the stronger, fit senior with hints of gold and grey in his skin, but who also looked like he might have the flu. And as he was thinking about that persona, it almost felt like Freddy began to slide into that form.

"I don't know what it means, but this is what I looked like in the mirror this morning. And," glancing at Stephen, "partly at work today too."[/quote]

Through the whole of it Stephen was looking in disbelief as both Freddy and Glen performed miraculous feats, he tried to say something but at first his jaw just moved then finally he got it out " I-I can't do anything like that, that, that in the bathroom was j-just a hallucination, I mean, I couldn't just project an image onto a wall or a roof, it's impossible" he said, staggering a few times.

Hearing Stephen freak out, Freddy felt sympathy for the older vaycay. "Look, man, I thought I was going insane, too. I still don't know what to tell my parents if they ever find out. Waking up this morning and looking like this? I'm just glad I made it to the bathroom in time. And that I changed back to normal afterward."

He thought of being normal again, same old fat Freddy. And he felt that sliding feeling again. After a second, he looked down and saw belly rolls on himself, and his skin was just the same medium black it always had been.

"I don't think it was a hallucination, man. I mean, I don't know your circumstances, but something weird has affected all three of us. Think about it. At the same time, we either get headaches or a whole body ache. We all think we're going nuts. We all have done something weird. Or something weird done to us. You say you projected an image onto a wall? Man, I'd rather do that than what I woke up to this morning. You don't have to explain why you are suddenly not you..."

Freddy took a swig from his 2nd Mountain Dew. "Also, look, I know we just met. But I'm a straight up honest guy. And I can vouch for Glen. We're not out to scam you or something. Whatever you say or show in this room, I promise I will keep a total secret."

The Party

“Hey. I’m Logan. Not sure who you have in mind. Been here for a long time, just out and about. How’re you?” A sudden epiphany struck him, before turning back to her. “Lizzie, right?”

At that moment, he heard a familiar voice addressing him from nearby, with a very intriguing proposal. He turned to see a girl that he had seen around in the town and recognized. His smile broadened, both at seeing a familiar face, even if his opinion of the girl was shaped by her sometimes strange remarks about Outsiders, and at the offer for a drink.

“Jessica, how’s it going? Hey, I’ll never say no to another drink, especially a whiskey. Wanna trade cups?” Lighting up a cigarette, he opened the package and offered a cigarette to both girls. At the sims time, he puffed some smoke away before continuing. “Anyway, how do you feel about this party, thus far?”

Sammuramat wrote:"Izzy," she corrects Logan cheerfully, "- I'm so sorry about your drink!" She'd offer to refill but Jessica seems to have that covered, so instead she sips her own drink nervously. "I've been okay - it's been a busy week. Haven't had time for many parties, so I was looking forwards to this. It's, uh, quieter than I thought it would be..." The thought strikes her that maybe there's been an epidemic of strange skin rashes and that's why people aren't partying as hard as normal. She tries to put it delicately. "Have things been normal in, erm, your part of town? And, erm, either of you got a light?"

"Sorry, I don't smoke." Jessica replied to Izzy with an apologetic shrug, "Except when I'm really drunk and someone else suggests it." she gave the pair a broad smile, producing a bottle from somewhere inside her jacket which she set down on the kitchen table with a slight flourish.

She shed the jacket, tossing it carelessly onto an open space in the counter, then rolled up the sleeves of the black sweater she was wearing underneath; apparently she was getting down to business, "So with the party... I think it needs serious livening up. We have a classical music jamboree in the corner and very few people doing any serious drinking," as she spoke, Jessica rummaged opened and shut kitchen cupboards, hunting for something, "So I'm going to pour some shots and the three of us are going to do them and then we're going to make this party excellent... aha!"

She reached into one of the kitchen cupboards with both hands, coming back with four shot glasses in each hand which she laid out in a neat line, "So funny you should ask about things being normal. I saw something pretty odd today, but it's one of those things I don't think other people would believe. Why do you ask? Has something odd happened in your world?"

Logan Ashfield
The Party

“Quieter? Heh, a polite way to say boring.” Logan addressed the girl, Izzy, as he blew another smoke ring in the air. He was about to present the lighter to Izzy when Nate swooned in. The two Outsiders knew each other well from the Scrapyard and so he greeted the boy warmly.

“Hey Nate, how’s it going? Don’t know, everything is weird when you live by yourself out there, but anything too extraordinary? I am not yet sure.”

As Jessica returned with the glasses, Logan removed his jacket as well and prepared for the drinking to resume with a passion. She spoke of her experiences the day that went by and, after a moment of hesitation, and with help from the alcohol that was pouring, Logan added to the conversation with the three others.

“Now that I think about it, this past week has been a bit strange, all around.” He smoked the entirety of another cigarette, losing count of how many he had gone through in an afternoon, and turned back to Jessica.
“I’ve seen some shit, girl, let me tell you that much. After everything, I promise you, I’ll believe you. What did you see today?”

Jessica Bishop: The Party

"Yes, I'm sure you've seen 'shit' but unless you're a wizard I don't think you've seen what I saw," Jessica paused for a heartbeat, before adding, "Unless you've seen something that couldn't be real as well? Tell you what," she motioned at the glasses, "If you can down three of them before I can, I'll not only drink the two that are left over, but I'll tell you what I saw. If I win, you tell me whatever this 'shit' is that you've seen. Unless you mean that literally, in which case I don't need an explanation."

She grinned broadly, putting her hand on the first glass, "Oh and Izzy and Junkyard Jim," she nodded to Izzy and Nate, "You're up next, so get your game faces on."

Apparently it had never occurred to her that people might not want to get paralytically drunk...

Izzy thanks Nate for the light with a smile and a giggle as she raises the cigarette to her lips and cautiously takes a drag. It isn't so different from what she's smoked before, and she relaxes a little.

But what makes her considerably less relaxed is what they're talking about. Well, the bit about more alcohol consumption, she's very much okay with. She doesn't think anyone who really knows her is watching, anyway, so she might as well loosen up a little after such a stressful few days. But... seen some shit, a strange week, something that couldn't be real. Izzy shakes her hair loose and twirls it around her finger as she listens wide-eyed.

She could show them...

They're only Townies and Outsiders, it shouldn't be a big deal. They're fun to hang out with, it turns out, even if she still doesn't really feel at ease. But their opinions shouldn't matter too much. And she's pretty sure there are no Vacays here to judge her for hanging out with them, let alone taking her top off for them. She could do it, rip off the band-aid, stop being so goddamn anxious about it. Would it even matter? Maybe they've got the same...

Or maybe she'd just be humiliating herself in front of them, too. Maybe they're talking about something completely different. Maybe there's some drug going around laced with hallucinogens. Izzy nervously takes a drag on the cigarette, and then some more vodka. At least these are drugs she can trust. Mostly.

"I can't say I've seen anything that weird," she says, which she thinks is technically the truth. It gives her some plausible deniability. But does she really need it? She drinks more, and thinks, or rather struggles to think. "But... get me drunk enough and you might get to see."

Logan Ashfield
The Party

Logan listened closely as Izzy spoke, more relaxed than before it seemed. He was interested in her last words, but his half-drunk state didn’t let him be fully aware of what she meant.

“Get to see? This party is getting all the more fun. How about you, Chief?” He added turning to Nate that was standing near the others. This whole conversation was beginning to reinforce what had crossed his mind a few hours before. That his freak abilities weren’t unique. But still he wasn’t sure. Maybe the extensive vodka was speaking for him.

And as Jessica proposed the game, that became all the more apparent. Logan looked at the girl opposite him and smiled heartedly. He left his drink by his side, as he straightened his back and cracked his neck at both sides.

“I’m up for the challenge. And you’d be surprised at what I have seen.” He grinned back at Jessica and flicked the butt of the cigarette that he had finished into the ashtray nearby. “If you win, that is. So, when do we start, princess?”

Jessica Bishop - the party

"Princess? Well I guess I do know how a hairbrush and a shower work so I'm doing quite well compared to most of your scrapyard Sallys," Jessica taunted in response, favouring the group with a brief, cheeky grin.

She motioned at one of the lines of shot glasses, "Your line -" she put a hand on the first glass in the other line, "-and my line. Last one to drink all three, loses!"

She waited for Logan to put his hand on the first glass in his line before saying, "Okay so we start on the count of the three. One... Three!"

Jessica had the first glass in her hand in a flash, though despite her attempt to cheat, she heard the noise of thick glass hitting the counter while her head was still tilted back. He was winning! She raced to finish but, unsurprisingly, still lost. Oh well, she had tried to cheat.

There was a moment, just as she reached for the third glass, quick and easily missed, when she reached across the table... and the glass moved as well, jumping a couple of inches from the table into her hand. It was easy enough not to notice that Jessica seemed to have missed what she'd done, "Fine," she pouted, picking up one of the remaining two shot glasses, downing the contents, then moving onto the last.

She grimaced, raising her hands triumphantly, as she drank her fifth shot in quick succession, "Give it 20 minutes and I think this will be the start of a fun evening! So what was it I was supposed to tell you?" she paused for a heartbeat, "Oh yeah! So I'm pretty certain I found a homeless Wizard, or Jedi or something similar, out in the woods. He had a staff so I think Wizard is more appropriate. I know I wasn't on mushrooms or drunk or anything but he was doing some totally freaky, physics-defying stuff with water. I think. He might have just been a really awesome magician, but I don't know why someone like that would hang out in the woods; squirrels aren't great tippers."

Freddy was right there with Glen. Other than touching the guy - because, well, he's a guy and Freddy doesn't go around touching other guys.

"Stephen, look man. I'm just glad I'm not going insane. When I woke up this morning, I thought I was certifiable. Like they were going to send me to the loony bin. But it's not me. It's Glen. Nate

Nate snorted at as Jessica made somewhat of a fool of herself against Logan. Townie's always thought themselves big shots for these kinds of games. Then weird stuff started happening. The first thing Nate saw was a shot glass apparently glide across the table into Jessica's hand. Looking around, not even Jessica seemed to notice this oddity. Then Jessica began to drunkenly rant about a wizard, and when Nate thought about his newly gained ability to run, he had officially reached a weird limit for this conversation. Raising his hand, he said "I'll go get more ammo, be right back." to the group, and walked back over towards the Kitchen. As he got around the deck however, he saw something that blew that entire conversation out of the water. A pale blue glowing mist had begun to float out of the forest...

Nate saw Jackie looking aghast in the same direction. Nudging Mark, who had somehow ended up next to him, he said "Hey Mark, you seeing the weird fog?"

Mark looked out at the woods and chuckled "You might want to tone it back Nate, you're seeing shit and it isn't even midnight yet." Nate overheard Jackie's friend say something similar to her.

Nodding like he agreed, Nate purposefully slurred his response "Yeah, probably... probably need to piss..." and stumbled down the deck stairs, ignoring Marks laughs as he did so. Once he was out of sight, he regained his normal gait and began to walk towards the woods. Turning around, he noticed Jackie had followed him down from the porch. Nate nodded and said "Look, I appreciate that you want to take advantage of a drunk man, but I've got more pressing shit to deal with right now."

Jackie

The insult cut her deep but she didn't care. Looking Nate in the eyes, Jackie said calmly "What, having to do with the mist? I can see it to you arrogant fuckwad."

Nate chuckled and said "Well, we can have a whole conversation on arrogance and it's definition Coldwell, but that's for another time. Fine, you want to come along, let's go. Any theories why we can see this stuff and others can't?"

Jackie shrugged and said "Mark drugged our drinks?"

"Unless Mark for some reason tried to use peyote as a date rape on us, I doubt it. Nah, I think there's something weird going on, and I think you're thinking that as well. Notice anybody acting strange recently Coldwell, or developed anything strange recently?"

"Like what? Are you asking if I'm going through puberty?"

"Believe me that would be easier. No Coldwell, I mean superpowers."

"You know, any other time I'd laugh you off and say that Mark really did drug our drinks."

"I'm sensing a but."

"But... I have. I've seen some weird stuff over the past week, and heard even weirder stories. You, for example, beating a D1 athlete in a footrace."

"What, you don't think I'm capable? I might have jets for all you know."

"I know because... I can sense it. Kind of. When I touch people I've seen or heard of doing the weird shit... I get a vibe from them. Others just give me an empty feeling but with people who can do stuff like you... or that Gregor kid..."

Nate paused and said "Wait, my Gregor? You mean the one who is currently in the woods covered by this weird fog bank? That Gregor?"

Jackie pushed her hair back and stopped at the edge of the treeline with Nate. "Yes, that Gregor. What, you didn't know he could do something?"

Nate shook his head and peered through the glowing fog, his face partially illuminated it. Jackie wondered what the outside boy was thinking. After a minute, Nate shook his head and knelt down to tie his shoes. Jackie opened her mouth to question him when Nate said "I don't know what's up with this, but whatever it is, it looks very, very bad. So, I'm going to go in there, get my friend out, and then drink away any memory of this. You're welcome to join me." Jackie nodded solemnly, and with mutual acceptance, the pair stepped through the treeline, and into the woods.

Well, that about summed it up. "Nope". Didn't even beat around the bush, just cut right to the chase with a straight-up "nope". It caught him off-guard a little bit, especially coming from such an unimposing figure. His eyes registered a bit of surprise for a brief second before resuming activity, his brain finally leaping back from its initial bout of shock. He couldn't even help himself, he cracked a little bit of a smile, chuckling slightly at the flat, hostile response. He never really was a ladies man, Joe was a bigger playboy. He didn't have time for women, not since the accident at least. His schedule was always blocked out, and there was no slot for a girl in his life. It felt odd just talking to a girl, even though they had exchanged a grand total of one brief sentence and one word. Of course, there was his sister, but she was younger than him, and she was family. It was weird talking to people his age, it was like he had come back from space or something. Now that he had money and his life wasn't a constant string of work-work-work, he had no idea what to do with his empty hours.

Jeez, he had become a bummer.

"Yeah, me neither," he replied in an easy tone, taking another swig out of his bottle. "I'm only 20 and I already feel like I'm too old for this shit. I barely recognize anyone." he ranted, which was truthful. They were all a couple of years younger than him, and he hadn't been in school for a while. He was out of touch with Ribe, aside from the Outsiders. And few Outsiders were partying with Vaycays, they had their own shindigs. "I'm Chuck, by the way, I don't think we've met," he added as an afterthought, clamping off his little spiel.

It's Glen. It's you too. Hey, it might even be others that are doing weird things now. But I'm just so thankful to have met you guys, and I promise I won't reveal your secret if you won't reveal mine."

Stephen slowly got up " Maybe we should just go down to the kitchen to the rest of the party and worry about this stuff tomorrow" Stephen proposed as he made his way towards the door when he noticed something in the window "There's some weird fog outside" he said as he walked towards the window

Among the crowd, Szarlota spotted her three sisters among them laughing and cheering. In their hands were plenty of drinks containing enough alcohol to know them all out for the rest of the night. Turning her attention back to the music, the Pole was surprised how well she was able to blend in the music with the guitar melody Yang was playing. Strange at first, since she was so used to playing traditional sheets. She almost felt like Zimmerman with this bizarre mix of classical and whatever Yang was playing. So unfamiliar yet this combo worked so well. Ada went over to Szar to give her a hug and a kiss on the cheek. Her backless dress turning heads to face her smooth skin.

"Wonderful show." her sister complimented as she offered her cup for Szar to drink.

"Thanks." the jester girl replied while she took a sip with one hand while the other continued to dance on the keys.

Stephen was right. The fog was weird. Who knew that fog could be blue? Wasn't fog supposed to be clear-ish?

As Glen and Stephen discussed the fog and the options were laid out, Freddy was still staring out the window. Was that? Wait. "Guys! Right there! It's... oh, shoot, he's gone into that Smurf pea soup. But I thought I saw someone go in." Two people had, apparently. A guy and a girl. The girl he didn't know at all. The guy? Freddy couldn't swear on it, but he thought it looked like an outsider who had gotten in a bloody fight that summer and who could pulverize guys like Freddy if he saw them. Nate.

So now it came down to, go after Nate into the weird fog? No, thank you. Staying here wasn't an option, either. "I think we should tell someone. Or like, everyone."

Glen looked a bit confused "Why would we do that? Its just fog, fast moving fog is odd but not that weird. Besides I think the others will notice since they have windows on the ground floor. I think we need to focus on the WE HAVE SUPER POWERS issue."

"Did you guys do anything weird or out of the ordinary before this happened? Encounter something strange? Go swimming somewhere? Their needs to be some sort of factor that links us."

"I don't think we should investigate though, could be radioactive or something."
