Madrid, Spain
12th September 1949

The nationalisation of the Suez Canal had brought mixed feelings in Madrid. On the one hand, it undermined a key advisary of Spain, the UK, and overall disemboldened Spain's enemies through socialist measures. However, Spanish ships frequently passed through it in order to trade goods and arms with Japan and other socialist nations in the East. Spain did not want that trade disrupted. The Spanish war cabinet had met and Spain released a statement to the international community.

ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE SPANISH SOCIALIST REPUBLIC

Spain welcomes the nationalisation of the Suez Canal and wishes to end capitalist imperialists' intervention in the economics of other nations. Spain will also increase patrols of the Gibraltar Strait and impound any vessel which it suspects will deliver soldiers or military ordnance to an invasion or preparation for an invasion of Egypt. However, no blockade has been reimposed and civilian and merchant ships can still pass freely. Spain also requests that the Egyptian government still allows the free flow of international shipping through the Suez Canal, or our support for the Egyptians will cease.

We are incredibly happy to hear Spain wishes to end colonialism in Egypt. As such we would imagine they will in kind renounce all colonial possessions and claims to nations like Morocco that should be independent.

Should they apologize for the blockade and compensate any loss of money by nations and private companies during the period of the blockade, China will sponsor the membership of the nation to the UN.

Using the temporary Suez diversion, De Klair began to prepare a mass assault on Western supply lines. Upon reading several military essays, he figured that the best way to destroy an enemy's army without fighting was to destroy their supply lines and then let them starve. It was logistics-based warfare, an important part of guerrilla warfare, as he saw it. The main targets would be ports and roads, hoping to at least destroy them if the ALA was unable to take control. There would be night and day raids, each one starting from different directions to confuse the enemy. These raids would eventually wear down stamina and morale, as Western troops would start believing that all sides were filled with enemies. Mass militias would be formed from village and town populations, forcing the West to face resistance wherever they go. Each key strategic location was filled with landmines, traps and barbed wire. Pits and camouflaged caltrops would be placed down, ensuring maximum casualties when Western troops would march forward. Wooden fortifications allowed quick defensive structures to be formed and easily burned down, with every step being dangerous for Western forces. Anti-air batteries were set up, preventing aerial reinforcements to ground troops. The offensive part of the operation was known as Operation Deluge, and the defensive part was known as Operation Spring. Operation Deluge and Operation Spring would work together, as one cut off supplies and the other prevented them to take use of supply in newfound territories along with dragging the war out, causing the West to suffer from lack of supplies and increasing casualties massively. De Klair reckoned he could mobilise about 3-10 million people if needed, helped by the ALA's recruitment of women. These troops would be untrained, but provide a good resistance nonetheless.

Whilst preparation for both began, the operations would only begin once De Klair could secure Soviet assistance before the end of the Suez crisis, taking advantage of diverted British troops to rip apart their lines with brand new Soviet equipment and reinforcements.

Crisis In Alexandria
Image
Pictured in the Aquila Aircraft carrier docked in Alexandria

As tensions in Spain and Gibraltar finally ease another situation has arose in the time since the end of a crisis. In the land of Pharaohs and Pyramids a recent crisis is to shake some of the worlds powers. Recently a Egyptian government has declared an end to British influence as well as nationalising the Suez canal. This does have implications towards Brazil mainly that Brazil was using the British military base in Egypt as a key refuelling and repairing centre. Even as this article is being wrote the Aircraft carrier Aquila is being repaired inside the Alexandria with the help of British engineers to make the ship sea worthy to make the journey across the Atlantic ocean to be base and fitted in the Natal naval dockyard. This also comes days after the United States of Brazil became allies of both Britain and the United States of America and also a observer state of NATO.

It has been reported from the Brazilian Naval Command that the Aquila and one of the escort ships Bellerophon are currently stationed inside Alexandria and the crews of both ships have taken measures to secure the safety of Brazilian personal, Equipment and intelligence. It has been reported that Brazilian forces have establish a small guard around the dockyard from Marines and sailors of both ships to protect them as well as some foreign expats and their families.

What the Brazilian government is doing now is sending the Bahia a ship originally tasked with protecting the Aquila but was tasked with doing potential military action is now returning to Alexandria to aid in the protection of Brazilian interests. As well they have released a statement stating "While Egypt has not done anything to directly harm Brazil, it would be important that the Egyptian government understand its position and should action be taken against British officials or Brazilian personal then action will be undertaken by the United States of Brazil. The Suez canal is important to international trade and should shipping be disrupted expect the international community to react accordingly."

What is know is that Brazil will protect its assets currently in Egypt.

Council of Ministers, Cairo, Egypt
September 10th, 1949

Prime Minister Aly Pasha welcomed the other ministers as they began the meeting. Of priority was, of course, the British response to the passage of the Suez Nationalization Act. "Prime Minister, we're looking at 35,000 Brits deploying to the Canal. We could hit them hard at Port Said, target the naval base in Alexandria-" the Defense Minister began before being cut off. "With respect, Tariq, we're not at that stage yet. The British reacted as we thought we would. We both know very well that despite the training the British gave our soldiers during the Second World War, we would be defeated by them in open combat. Besides, any attack on their forces at the Canal or in Alexandria would leave the capital open to attack by their damned forces just south of here. By Allah, they cannot leave soon enough. No, this requires a delicate approach. We must maintain the course, we haven't attacked them, and all His Majesty wants, that we want, is for Britain to hand over the Canal and for their troops to honor the wishes of this Government in that they withdraw their forces from Egypt. Patience, my friend." After tackling a few other items, the Council of Ministers dispersed, and the Prime Minister began working on the next stage of the Suez nationalization, sending a telegram meant for Prime Minister Churchill.

To: The Rt. Honorable, Sir Winston Churchill
From: The Honorable Aly Maher Pasha
Encryption: Moderate

Prime Minister,

Three years ago, His Majesty, King Farouk, formally requested the removal of British soldiers from Egypt, as there was no more war to fight. Your government has continued to ignore this request. And now, after His Majesty's government has declared its ownership of the canal with financial reparations for stockholders for their trouble, your government responds with force. Rather than respond with the defense of our sovereign and independent territory with armed force, as would be within our right, His Majesty's Government would request that the British government begin a new chapter with Egypt. We request the following, for a start:

1. The government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, henceforth referred to as "the British government" shall recognize Egypt's ownership of the Suez Canal per the Suez Canal Nationalization Act of 1949; and
2. The British government shall withdraw all military forces from Egypt.

While His Majesty would like to see formal recognition of his and Egypt's rightful claim to the Sudan, His Majesty is a reasonable man, and understands that this is a conversation best had at a later date. Should the British government agree to these two terms, the Egyptian government would look favorably on negotiating a favorable lease for Britain's continued use of the naval base in Alexandria. Furthermore, Egypt would publicly guarantee that the Suez Canal would not be closed, and that free trade would continue to resume through the Canal under Egyptian ownership. We look forward to your response.

Sincerely,

Prime Minister Aly Maher Pasha

Tokyo, People' Republic of Japan

Having things develop as they were - the Gibraltar Crisis had now turned into the Suez Crisis. As things were developing, and with still the Imperial Resistance a nuisance - the Communist Party of Japan was evidently a bit worried. While such incidents didn't affect them - it might affect their greatest ally and supporter the Soviet Union. If things continued along similar paths - they may have to spread their resources elsewhere. A situation that may leave them open to the Imperialists or perhaps even the Americans if it got bad.

Thus with their economy recovering and getting better year after year - those in power, had started laying the groundwork for a renewed Armed forces to be restored. Though they had begun to slowly militarize, this would be the largest expansion so far. As the building bloc for new People' Liberation Army - as they couldn't rely forever on the Soviet Guard Administration to provide security forever here.

For that end, General Secretary Rin Sora wrote a letter to Stalin personally upon their upcoming situation.

To: Soviet Union; General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union; Joseph Stalin
From: People' Republic of Japan; General Secretary of the Communist Party of Japan; Rin Sora
Classification: High

Dear Comrade,

These recent few months have put the whole world on edge and it is our fear - that this continued attempts to spark conflict or war may be detrimental to the stability and progress of socialism in Asia. Though we are grateful for the Soviet Guard Administration for restoring order and law, helping to arrest Imperial sympathizers and any enemies of the Revolution - we fear that the coming months may push even your resources to the limit.

In that regard, we have seen fit to increase the militarization of our nation - the creation of the People' Liberation Army had been one in motion for several years now, however these recent events have forced us into expanding and accelerating our plans. In that regard, we wish to triple the export of arms and resources from the Soviet Union. We will also see to it, that our armed forces will be able to take over duties from the Soviet Guard Administration operating over Japan.

The continued growth of China is proving to be more problematic with each passing year - as they seem evident in continuing the ways that lead to the collapse of the 'Chinese Empire' and driving their people into ruin and poverty. In that regard, we do not think completely removing the SGA from Japan to be a move we want to follow. Instead, we propose that the majority of them be concentrated on the Island of Hokkaido. Not to mention the establishing of a joint Soviet-Japanese Shipyard in Sapporo - that could be home to both the new People' Liberation Navy and also the new home of the Soviet Pacific Fleet.

Regards,

Comrade Rin Sora

Indonesia is still a young country but the economy are slowly decreasing. It would be nice that the country will be in need of financial support to prevent the nation from going through a period of unrest and poverty. I hope that you understand the hardship that we are going through at the moment.

Sincerely,

President Sukarno

By Order of the Riksdag, acting on behalf of his majesty Gustav V, have approved of and passed on this day, September 5 1949, the Internal Security Act, hoping to promote national unity and peace within the kingdom.

-Recognizing that the world is today split between two rivalling ideologies, and the great war that has divided Europe for the past decade has simply entered another phase, the Riksdag has endeavored for the past year to agree upon a new national security act. Recognizing the existence of extra-governmental paramilitary organizations founded in recent years, particularly those known colloquially as VF and HF, the Riksdag has endeavored to find a solution to a problem recognized to contribute to the rise of dictatorship across other western nations in the past few decades.

-Passing, this day, September 5 1949, the Internal Security Act allows for the creation of a new security agency, the Säkerhetspolisen, or SAPO, to perform counter-espionage and internal policing that the National Police Board cannot provide. This new unit will be open for all members of listed below neutral paramilitary organizations to join.

-Forbidding, from hence forth, all non-approved organizations aligned with the ideology of Communism, including the organization known as VF. All organizations that fall under this banner, or are percieved to fall under it, have a one month time period to disband, or be disbanded by the government.

Signed,
Tage Erlander, Prime Minister
Gustav V, His Majesty The King of Sweden

Stockholm
September 6, 1949

A man in simpler cloths for the time rushed down the street, holding a satchel to his side. He held a flatcap to his head, a souvenir from a trip to England that the man held very dear. The streets were filled with activity for the city, now one of the busiest in Europe thanks to the war. Foreign Ambassadors, eager to beg the Riksdag for more iron, Patrols of soldiers, trying to keep the peace, and various business men all streamed through the avenues, keeping Stockholm, at least for the moment, the trade capitol of Europe. An important trade post for the Soviets, an important business point for the Americans, and the key to any exported industrial goods to rebuild the ruined continent, for the moment Stockholm was the crossroads of the world.

And that made it a hotbed for all sorts of "counter-cultural" thinking. The young man turned a corner and entered an alleyway. Turning another corner at the end of the sidestreet, he found himself in front of a steel door. Normally unremarkable, etched into the corner was a simple symbol, a gun and a girder. While on the public propoganda the VF gave out the red lion rampant was used as a symbol, to their own followers their own Swedish version of the hammer and sickle took precedence. The young man knocked on the door, rapping out a specific pattern. A slat on the door opened, revealing a pair of intense, almost lightening blue eyes. The eyes scanned the man's face for a second, before the slat closed and a series of clicking noises was heard on the other side. The metal door swung open, allowing access to a small basement.

The man stepped inside, before the door slammed behind him. A large man, the owner of the intense blue eyes, now stood between the young man and the exit. The young man gave the brute a small tip of his cap, before moving through the small entrance room and into a larger cellar. The cellar was busy with activity. Several different operations of varying legality were going on in the cellar. In one corner, a printing press hammered away printing dozens of posters for the VF cause. In another, several men inspected several crates of Shpagins, fresh in from some black market supplier in the still chaotic area formerly known as Poland. In the center of the room stood a smaller, unimposing man with black hair. Despite his lack of physical presence, Oskar Nils commanded the small operation like an orchestra. This was only one of the VF's many safe houses, but when Oskar was there, it was the safe-house. He made sure everything around him operated with absolute efficiency. The leader of the VF raised his hand at the young man and said "Ahhh, Sven, was the mission successful?"

Sven stepped further into the safe house and placed his satchel on the table. Opening it up, Sven said while he rummaged through the sacks contents "You have friends in quite a few places Oskar. The National Archives are not an easy place to have such open access to."

"They are not my friends, but those who also seek the Revolution we crave. Stockholm is open to our cause, even if those who sit above us claim otherwise and try to suppress us with measures like yesterday's security act. What did you get?"

Sven pulled out several documents from his bag. Placing them on the table, he nodded and said "Complete diagrams of the Parliament House, Johannson's originals. There are several weak points that we can exploit for our plans. "

"Then we can move forward. The Riksdag shall learn soon that we are not to be shut down, we are not to disband, and we shall be victorious."

Malmö
September 10, 1949

Klas Olasson paced in his office atop the small two story building that made up the HF headquarters. The official government notice about HF's members joining this new SAPO agency had arrived earlier that day, and the once stalwart leader of the people's defense found himself torn. On one hand, joining the SAPO would allow him further access to fulfill his mission of protecting the country he loved so dearly from internal divide. On the other hand it would introduce government oversight and control that Klas hated more than anything else. A small head poked it's way through his door. Looking up, Klas recognized the face of his secretary, and daughter, Heidi."Yes, my dearest?" he asked.

Heidi said "There's a man here to see you father, he says that he can help you with your current dilemma."

Klas raised his eyebrow for a second, before saying "Very well, send him in."

A smaller, balding man with glasses stepped into the room, saying simply "This is a good office, good view."

Klas looked at the man and replied "Yes it is. And you are?"

The small man raised a hand and said "My name is Per Engdahl. Like you, I am a politician of sorts."

"I am no politician Mr. Engdahl."

"Well yes, hence the 'of sorts' in the statement. I am not a traditional politician either, but here we are, both leaders of political movements. Tell me Mr. Olasson, what do you make of the new Internal Security Act?"

"Is this a trick." When Klas reciveived indication to the contrary, he started again. "Mr. Engdahl, I shall show you trust here, and I hope it is returned to me. I do not know what to make of the act. While I am appreciative of the Government taking a larger role in the fighting of these terrorist movements who seek to destroy our nation from within, I do not like them taking the people's defense out of their own hands. We have a right to defend ourselves."

The other man nodded and said "I too think this way. The Riksdag is an innately untrustworthy government, especially while it is in the hands of Erlander and his cronies. I have a proposition for you. You see, I am the leader of a political group whose goals are much aligned with your. I fear that there are dark days for our people ahead, and I wish to make alliances while I can. The HF provides a banner under which those who oppose the communists and the SD can unite and save our nation. I wish to align my organization with yours."

"And what Organization would that be, Mr. Engdahl?"

"We are known as the New Swedish Moveme-"

"Ah, I see. I have heard of your movement before Mr. Engdahl. While I appreciate you taking your time to come to me with your proposal, I do not think I shall require your help. While I have my own disagreements with the same parties that you do, I also have plenty of misgivings about those who served the dictators of the south. Now please, leave me to my work, as you must know I have several important decisions to make."

Engdahl seemed to take the hint, and reached into his pocket. Removing a small card, he set it on the desk and departed without a word. The card had only the man's name and his telephone number written upon it. Klas briefly considered throwing it into his fire, but, just in case, in the worst case scenario, he tucked it into a desk drawer. Making sure Engdahl had left, Klas returned to pacing and thinking.

Stalin listened to De Klair's request, and was willing to talk about it. "I must admit, the resistance you're heading is impressive and I would support it. We will offer Soviet military advisers, along with technological aid. Imperialism must be stopped at all costs, and we applaud your efforts to end the capitalists hold on Africa. The Soviet Union understands your concerns, and we will support the idea of a re-mobilized Japan. The Red Army stationed in your country will now assist in training a new Japanese army, and will accept the export of arms and resources you proposed. Further details of this agreement can be worked out, but the basis is now established. The Soviet Union will be cooperative with Japan's plans for the future.

President Sukarno are wary of the ongoing rebellion that is occuring throughout the nation that is, Darul Islam. With this, the President have passed a law called the "Anti-Terrorism Conflict Legislation", a law that allows heavy policing in major cities such as Jakarta but it will take a toll on taxing. That includes policing in schools and universities. People were afraid that the law might take away their freedom but they will be safe.

General Secretary Joseph Stalin,

I am the Imam of the city of Isfahan, Farhad Khamani, and on behalf of the faithful hardworking Persian people, I would like to offer cooperation. As you already know, the current monarchical leaders of Persia favor the west and do everything in their power to support the European and American businesses in our beloved land while not paying as much attention to the needs of the common people. I have gathered a group of simple, yet zealous, people who come from the working class and wish to enjoy the same benefits as the wealthy of this country. It is our belief that together, our mighty countries can cooperate in many areas. But for now, we are just a movement; however, with your military and logistical help, we will be able to yield more power and spread justice across Persia

Furthermore, he also ordered ASPG-controlled factories to begin getting ready for production of Soviet equipment. The equipment upgrade from 'lead pipes with a trigger' to AKMs was substantial, and the ALA would get its first proper tanks. There had been armoured cars beforehand, but now tanks would be made. A transition to GAZ-64s were also made, performing a function similar to American jeeps. This was the coup de grace against the West as De Klair saw it. Sven felt very trapped at the moment. After a full week of planning, the "Initiation" as Oskar had called it was finally underway. After a night of pouring over the diagrams and blueprints of the Parliament House, they had found an easy point of entry. An old bricked over sewer tunnel that a few VF scouts had torn open again last night. Though it was compact, especially for grown men like Sven and his comrades, it would fit the men they needed to get inside. Finally, after what seemed like an eternity in that dark hell, the men found themselves in a small cellar. Checking his map of the building, Sven gestured to a door. Pulling up a red bandana that he wore, Sven waited for his men to get in position before kicking down the door.

Stepping into a small hallway, Sven saw one guard directly in front of him. Before the other man could react, Sven delivered a quick punch to the gut, followed by a hard knee to the face. Drawing out a smuggled Welrod, he turned and fired two shots, downing the guard at the other end of the hall. Signalling for the other men to move through, Sven said "Line the hall with the explosives, then draw the detonator as far back into the tunnel as you can. I'll keep watch."

These were good men for the job, long-time Byggnads, or members of the Building Worker's Union. They were also long-time members of the VF and the explosive specialists. The batch they had worked up today came from a wide degree of smuggled and recovered bombs from both sides of the war. The Amatol explosives would level the building when they went off, and signal a new age for Sweden.

After about 30 minutes, the Byggnads gave Sven the all clear, and the group retreated back into the tunnel. Once the group were back in the sewers, Sven gave a small countdown with his fingers, and the man with the detonator pressed it. For a few long seconds, it seemed like nothing was going to happen. Then the Earth itself seemed to shake like some kind of giant was attacking it from above. Sven smiled, knowing they had succeeded.

Up above, Tage Erlander and his assembled government were debating the latest import bill and the balance between East and West. In another time, Tage might have been Sweden's greatest PM, but now, his life was cut short as a fireball burst forth from below him, consuming the Riksdag. Parliament House seemed to heave as the explosion blasted off the roof and a good portion of the back half of the building. A signifigant crater began to form as several underground tunnels collapsed between the House itself and the National Bank's building next door. That building as well heaved, before falling inward. As if to add insult to injury, after the majority of destruction was done, half of the remaining facade fell into the smoking wreck.

12:00 PM

Explosions continued to rack the city as various VF bombs destroyed crucial government infrastructure and buildings. Several party HQs and government agencies had also found themselves subject to attack, and now Stockholm burned. Oskar Nils stood in front of the ruins of the Parliament House, the black banner with the red gun and hammer of the VF flew behind him as various reporters, comprised of those sympathetic to the revolution and those dragged there by VF militia. Oskar raised his hand to them, and said "Gathered members of the Press. You have been asked to come here so that you may send out my words so Sweden and the World knows them. My name is Oskar Nils, where I come from and anything else pertaining to my identity does not matter. Earlier today, the Revolution was brought to Sweden by the force known as the Vänsterförsvar. I am their leader and chosen representative. What you see here is the combined effort of the working man to end Monarchist and Reactionary oppression, and bring about the world revolution. As of today, we have set up a new Provisional Government, headed by myself, to guide Sweden through this crucial phase in our efforts to abandon capitalism and Bourgoise influence. I urge all national troops to join me and the militias who removed your opressors today..."

The offices of the HF were buzzing with activity. Across the country the paramilitary group had been activated and ordered to fight off Revolutionaries as they rose up. Klas was in regular contact with the surviving military leaders as both sides in this growing revolution rushed to form lines and prepare to push the other back. The military needed to regain control over Stockholm within a week, and the Revolutionaries needed to spread out of the old capital. Klas was doing his part, trying to stamp out any additional revolutions that popped up in the meantime. However, his men were spread thin, and the logistics of a country wide operation were far beyond his pay grade. He needed help. Realizing that these were the worse circumstances he had though of last week, Klas reached under his desk, and removed a small card he put there a week prior. Picking up his telephone, he dialled the office of one Per Engdahl, to further discuss business.

Crisis in the North, Commies in Sweden?

Ruins of the former SD Party Headquarters, Stockholm Sweden

(15 September, 1949) The morning was bright, sunny, and peaceful in Stockholm three days ago. That peace was obliterated by explosions that ripped through the Swedish capitol around 11 o'clock. A communist group known as the Vänsterförsvar enacted a city wide bombing campaign, destroying the Swedish Parliament, many government organizations, the national bank, and political parties in one fell swoop. Announcing themselves as the true government of Sweden, and asked for the military to join them. The military has responded by rapid mobilization and appears to be moving to surround the former capitol. Meanwhile, right-wing paramilitary groups keep peace in the country side. Many in Europe fear that the Swedish Crisis might devolve into a civil war, and potentially war between the Soviet Union and the United States, as Sweden holds important control over regional iron deposits, as well as being a potential staging base for either an invasion of Russia or Europe. Only time will tell how this story will continue.

Second Address to the World
12:01 PM, September 17, 1949

"Seems Like once more the words I have given, resorting to violence within their own nations to find a means to an end. Yet what more use is fighting for your wants, when you are fighting your own people through self-destructive efforts. Terrorism is very much an active force in our world, where several people had to face its wrath, such as the Nazis had done with our people in the holocaust. That was a movement of terrorism that had led to the almost complete obliteration of Jews living upon European soil, but this terrorism was carried out by the state. What are we to ask us during when its the people who bomb the Government and use weapons and bombs to carry out their means.

"Let us look back at the war my people fought in for their very survival, we were living under terror as Arab forces began attacking Jewish people and we were forced by the leaving British to organize and defend ourselves. That is fighting terrorism with equal force to ensure survival and stability, that of which we fought would not be justified no matter who the victor was to be in the war, thankfully it was us who had won and so protected our sovereignty our people. Yet two days ago, we've seen terror on a scale not yet seen before, conducted by the very people of Sweden upon their own Government. They claim themselves to be working for the people against oppression, but what oppression had the Swedes done to one another from the Government? Had the King abused his powers and suspended parliament, no they had not. Yet in the peaceful nation's wake is a small group of revolutionaries bombing an entire city in the name of their ideology, killing not only Government officials but also innocents in their efforts. They do this in the name of liberation yet use the weapons of oppression and killing the very people they claim to protect.

"What we need to do is face against this growing threat around the world, of communism that is violent and erratic but it needs not always be communism that concerns it. All people may struggle, when they are being oppressed and terrorized, yet when it is the same people that are fighting with tooth and nail that do not attempt a peaceful solution first. They are terrorists, not revolutionaries who fight for a better tomorrow, but killers. It is the duty of all nations to stop such violence, along with making efforts for a peaceful solutions to the several crisis that have been arising as of late, we cannot let peace escape our grasps a second time. We need to fight back against this growing threat of not only domestic terrorism but of possible terrorism abroad, such as the growing African Liberation Army which had been a growing movement having control of land and claiming itself to be united. Yet it is only several groups together loosely connected, the people themselves are not united despite what they claim to be, but with proper training they can be a deadly force. They could not only arm other movements for violent overthrow of governments in Africa, but also around the world as a safe haven for terrorists that could receive training and asylum from efforts by Governments as home. We must work together as a community, to prevent the further spread of this fire in the hopes that peace can prevail, that we prevent these possible hotbeds of terrorist training and that peaceful solutions to be found over violent ones."

17 September 1949:
Several days had passed, as the tensions around the Suez Canal continued to build with Great Britain already mobilizing a sizeable amount to the defence of the Suez Canal.Saud knew that a military conflict could and would happen at any given moment.Earlier, he and his officers had settled on a diplomatic solution to the crisis, in order to make sure that their own importance is not jeopardized. To that end, in under an hour, he had an official letter that would be sent to the King of Egypt.

As-salāmu ʿalaykum

Your Majesty,

Firstly, I would like to pledge my gratitude to Allah, Creator of the Universe for allowing me to converse a letter to you at this very moment.I wish you and your family good health in advance.

It has come to my attention that upon your own request, an invasion of the strategic Suez Canal that is held by the British is underway. My friend, I could see the reasons why that led you to take this fateful decision but know that even if you come out successful in the end, there is a no definite prediction on what will happen next.

However, I would not abstain from supporting a common cause in uniting our fellow Muslim brothers. But hear me, before we both see a world of bloodbath and wars, I'll ask for you to heed the least of my advice to a more comprehensive solution, no matter what.

Signed,
Saud bin Abdulaziz Al Saud

The Creation of The Southern Atlantic and Oceanic Treaty Organisation (SAOTO)

It has been reported from sources inside the Brazilian Government that arrangements have been made to create a new intergovernmental military alliance similar to NATO. This organisation has confirmed that this alliance is not meant to rival NATO but instead to focus its efforts on the Southern Hemisphere mainly as a bulwark against Communism spreading into the Asian Islands, Southern Africa as well as keeping South America from potential soviet influence. An invitation to the alliance has been sent to all of South America, Oceania and it has also decided to invite China in order to help contain Japanese Communism as well as potential communist government in South East Asia.

The Brazilian government has also requested that the United Kingdom give observe status to some of the Colonies in Southern Africa in order to protect them from potential Communist take over by a rebel group which has become known as The African Socialist Provisional Government. It has also requested from Portugal permission to station troops inside Portuguese Angola and Mozambique once again to contain the spread of Communism in the area.

It is also said that the Headquarters first meeting will be held in the Brazilian city of Rio Grande do Sul along the Southern Coast of Brazil should those wishing to join the organisation delegates should be sent in order to discuss further the creation of the Southern Atlantic and Oceanic Treaty Organisation.

BELGRADE

Tito walked into the board room full of his advisers and confidantes.
"General Secretary, what a pleasure to see you." Darin Brodsky said as he stood up, saluting Tito.

"Brodsky." Tito replied sternly. He sat down in his chair and looked at his advisers.
Tito knew what the meeting was about. The turmoil of the Second World War still shocked the nation, and people were still starving on the streets. The economy was in tatters.

"General Secretary, we need economic aid from the Soviet Union. They are the only ones who are even remotely close to sending us economic aid." Brodsky said.

"Brodsky. Do you know what I fought for? I... we fought for independence. If we ask for aid from the Soviet Union, we will become nothing more than a mere puppet of Stalin and his ambitions. We are already aligned with them, wouldn't they already send us aid?" Tito replied.

"They have focused more on their own country and the countries closest to them. I believe we have to ask them for aid for them to even recognize our existence."

Tito thought for a minute, then he replied with a stern look as he leaned in.

"Ask them for aid. Just this once. In return, give their soldiers training in urban and guerrilla fighting."

The advisers nodded as they left.

Comrade! We never got a chance to give you kudos on your revolution. As you surely know, the countries of Europe require aid. We are one of those countries. We are asking for economic aid from you. In return, we are willing to give your soldiers knowledge of guerrilla fighting, to further destabilize the West in any "proxy war."

Noting our western neighbours financial issues, the USBR proposes a plan to help them with their economy. Parhon and Chervenkov are sending a joint message regarding the purchase of a part of Macedonia.

Dear, Chairman Tito,

We wish to purchase the Southeastern and Eastern Statistical Regions, and the southern half of the Vardar Statistical Region. We will propose 400 million Lei for the three areas. We also will help you with modernisation by sending economic assistants. We would also like to extend our railway network into your major cities connecting the entirety of the balkan region minus Albania and Greece.

Council of Ministers, Cairo, Egypt
September 11th, 1949

The Egyptian ministers were now growing impatient. Britain had now, once again, ignored their wishes. First, three years ago. And now, they had ignored a telegram from their Prime Minister. It would have been one thing, in their minds, if Egypt had attacked the Canal, as some war hawks in government and the opposition benches had wanted. But the Egyptians had not even marshaled their armed forces, let alone declared any hostile wars. And still, the British steamed towards the Canal. And now there were concerns, not entirely unfounded, that the bulldog Churchill wanted to recolonize Egypt. After all, with anti-colonial sentiment rising throughout the old empires of the world, the Egyptian government wondered if Britain would try to put them in their place, even if Britain had recognized Egyptian independence back in 1922. Hell, Egypt had wanted to fight the Germans encroaching on their territory, but the British had feared that the Egyptians would turn around and fight the British. Absolutely preposterous. Insult after insult. And now, a threat on the horizon.

"Gentlemen, we cannot do this alone. And I will not allow Egypt to fall to the British again, not under my watch. And Allah forbid what they do to His Majesty," Prime Minister Aly Maher Pasha began. "However, I'm not so blind as to think that we can win an outright war with Britain. Their African troops are hardened by war with the Germans, and while they trained our soldiers, our's haven't been engaged in conflict. Not to mention we lack armor, an air force, and an effective navy. And if Churchill won't listen to us, then we need to find someone who will make him listen. Or...we might need to make new friends, with new devils." A hush fell over the council room. "You...you don't mean the Soviets, Prime Minister?" the Foreign Minister asked. "If push comes to shove, yes. And if that means throwing the West under them, then so be it. Our first priority is the defense of Egypt. Defense Minister Tariq, begin mobilizing our armies. They are not to engage the British, but at the very least I want them along defensive positions. Make the British bleed for every meter should it come to that. Foreign Minister Abdullah, respond to the Saudis and reach out to the Americans. The Americans want the Canal open, and I trust them over the British, especially if we remind them of the stakes of a failure of a liberal government in Egypt. We'll keep the Soviets on the back burner, for now."

To: His Excellency, Secretary of State George Marshall of the United States of America
From: The Honorable Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdullah Naseem Pasha of the Kingdom of Egypt and Sudan
Encyption: Moderate

Dear Sir,

As you are aware, His Majesty's Government has, by act of Parliament and through royal assent, declared that the Suez Canal should be nationalized, and that compensation for stockholders would be provided for. The British government has responded with the deployment of military forces. Be that as it may, my Government has reached out to the British Government to negotiate. They have ignored our telegram. Our concern is that they will unleash war upon Egypt. Should this Government be removed by force, then we cannot guarantee that Egypt will remain a non-Communist state as a result of the British invasion. And we would prefer Egypt remain non-Communist, not least because we value our independence, and would not prefer to be a vassal of the Soviet empire, nor of any empire. That being said, His Majesty's Government does not want British nor Egyptian blood spilled. We do not trust the British to negotiate in good faith, that is, without a literal gun to our head. Our desire regarding the canal is, quite simply, ownership. We have no desire to close the Canal, as the Canal is a vital economic thoroughfare for Egypt. Quite simply, it is bad for business and bad for the Egyptian economy to close the Canal. But if the British choose to invade us, we will respond accordingly. All we ask of the United States is that they ask the British to negotiate - we do not even presume to ask that your government take a position on the matter. Britain is a power in decline, but a power nonetheless, and they will only listen to another power, one that is on the rise. They will not listen to a government they view as their subject, despite our recognized independence, except, apparently, when they want to bleed their armies. We look forward to your response.

Sincerely,

Abdullah Naseem Pasha
Foreign Minister of the Kingdom of Egypt and Sudan

To: His Royal Highness, Saud, Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia
From: The Honorable Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdullah Naseem Pasha of the Kingdom of Egypt and Sudan
Encryption: Moderate

Your Royal Highness,

Wa-Alaikum-Salaam. His Majesty is pleased to receive a communication from his Arab cousin, and wishes many years of prosperity and peace on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Kingdom of Egypt and Sudan passed a bill that would nationalize and return control of the Suez Canal to its rightful owners. The British have responded as they only know how to: by sending their troops to subjugate our independent kingdom. We have attempted to make contact with the British Government, but it appears that they refuse to respond. Our armed forces are being mobilized to defend our territories, but we will not meet the British. His Majesty's Government has no wish to leave the people undefended to the whims of the British barbarians. We have asked the Americans to intercede and urge the British to negotiate, but we do not know if they will do so. Egypt may be forced to defend itself. Both of us know the humiliation of being subjected to the Ottoman Empire, but thankfully your people were not doubly humiliated by then being subjected to the same imperialism on a different side of the coin. While His Majesty's Government would not presume to put the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in a position where it must fight the British, any support Your Royal Highness could offer would be much appreciated. May peace be with you.

Sincerely,

Abdullah Naseem Pasha
Foreign Minister of the Kingdom of Egypt and Sudan

Image

My Brave People,

My Government has tried to open negotiations with the British. They have refused. This, despite the fact that we have not fired a single shot towards any British soldier. This, despite the fact that we have not sent troops to seize the Canal by force, as some would urge us to do. No, instead, the British attempt to force us to our knees, without dialogue, without peaceful settlement. They aim to force us to swallow a poison pill. They aim to force us to acknowledge them as "master." If we must, we will, with a heavy heart, defend our Motherland with our lives. My brave, noble people, the British have so readily forgotten that there was a time when we offered to fight alongside them in the defense of our Motherland against the German invaders. The British have so readily forgotten whose blood and sweat went into the construction of the Canal. And they have so readily forgotten that our Kingdom is an independent, sovereign nation, and a member of the United Nations. Perhaps the British wish to emulate the Germans in their invasion of an independent country to which they have no claim over? We know not. But we do know this: the Kingdom of Egypt and Sudan has attempted to negotiate with the British, and they have replied with silence and guns to our heads. If this is how the British will treat an independent Egypt, we fear to think how they will treat the people of India and those who remain under the British yoke in Africa. In any event, we will not fire the first shot. But if Britain invades Egyptian territory, we shall be forced to respond, as is our right as an independent nation to respond to any incursion on our sovereign borders.

Karate which is a Okinawan martial art are becoming increasingly popular throughout the country and it was the result of the Japanese occupation in Indonesia at the time. Schools were opened especially in rural areas but silat is still common. Indonesians called it "Hand Thrusting" or "Proto-Silat". The Shotokan are the well-known style of karate in the country.

Dear Sir,

As grateful as we are to receive this telegram from the esteemed President of Indonesia, we are currently unable to arrange any such meetings, for myself or any member of His Majesty's Government. Not even His Majesty, the King, will be able to leave the Kingdom, let alone Cairo. While we hope for a speedy and peaceful resolution regarding the Suez matter, we do not trust the British to be anything remotely "peaceful". As His Majesty has informed the public, this Government has tried to reach out to the British, but to no avail. It is our hope that perhaps members of the international community will shame Britain for its warmongering. But for as long as this situation continues, the Egyptian Government cannot arrange a visit to your beautiful country at this time.

With Deep Respect,

Elections are up!
And....
(drumroll please)
The Liberals have won, and now have 56 seats!
The French government
(under Jean-Jacquois Dupont)
has requested, once again to join NATO.

Meanwhile, 3 minutes after the last congressman leaves the building of congress, and is outside of that area, a bomb goes off. After an investigation occurs, It was seen that the Communist Party did it, and they are banned from running in any election. Their seats are given to the Liberals, whom now have a Supermajority in Congress.

Sofia
Upon hearing of the elections in France, Chervenkov has decided to make a public statement.
"It has come to my attention that the french just wrapped up an election cycle. While I congratulate the winning party, I condemn the fact that they banned our brethren Communist Party from participating in any future elections and stripping their MPs of their seats. France is supposedly a free and democratic nation, which will change eventually, yet they continue to stamp out people's freedoms of expression by ballot box and their rights to assemble. In a nation that stands behind their capitalist rule of law principle, they seem to immediately find guilty all members of the Communist Party of supposedly committing a bombing. We also do not accept the results of the investigation and wish to see it reinvestigated by a neutral party to avoid foul play. Seeing how France is moving further away from communism and going towards a democratic capitalist style government, we in the USBR accept any French Communist political refugees. We will provide jobs, housing, and a fair chance at life."
