Sir,
This communication is to be kept a secret. As you might have been made aware by your Deputy Foreign Minister, Egypt cannot be seen to be friendly with you. However, we now have a dilemma. The Spanish are attacking the Moroccans, whose independence we recognize. The Spaniards appear to be set in their path to colonize Morocco. Egypt must respond by alleviating the Moroccans under siege and fighting Spanish troops there. But we have no navy - a condition of our occupation that has led to this woeful realization. It will take years for us to manufacture a fleet that could escort transports to Morocco. But, as it is, you have a fleet nearby. Would you escort our transports to Tangier? Under a pretense, of course, but all the same. Neither of us wish to see the Spanish retake Morocco, for one reason or another. Our troops aren't battle hardened, but you did train us to fight in the Second World War. We are mobilizing troops and supplies now, but we need escorts. Please provide a confirmation or rejection as soon as possible, so we might pursue other avenues if need be.
Regards,
The Honorable, Aly Maher Pasha
Prime Minister of Egypt and the Sudan

"Sir, message from Egypt." The Prime Minister reads it over. "Send this back, immediately."

Sir,
The British Government has been planning to intervene in the Moroccan conflict, via airstrikes from the Royal Navy and Gibraltar. As such, we agree to escort Egyptian transports to Tangier. They can be moved along with a convoy of reinforcements heading for Gibraltar Naval Yard. As for the bad relations, let me make it clear that the United Kingdom of Great Britain has no quarrel with the Kingdom of Egypt. The only reason relations deteriorated was because of lack of communication from the United Kingdom. Either way, the British Mediterranean Fleet will escort the Egyptian transports to Tangier.
Regards,
The Honorable Prime Minister Sir Winston Churchill of the British Empire & Commonwealth
