After thinking long and hard, Linda had decided that by simply moving to other things, we could come back to this question at a later time or date. Not wanting to be embarrassed on the whole house floor, or get into trouble with party leaders, Linda walked to the clerk and swapped her vote, in a low whisper

Representative Linda Lazare
[Democratic - 7th District of the State of Texas]

"Hi, I'd like to change my vote from Nay to Present. Thanks."

Dear colleagues,

The House Democratic Caucus will have a free vote on the confirmation of Jay Joseph Dietrich, but there is an expectation that his confirmation will pass the House of Representatives.

Yours,

Mac Faulhaber (D-TN-9)
House Floor

Mac raised an eyebrow. "Let's end with the stupidity of partisan politics. J.J. Dietrich is about as good as Republicans come and the best we are going to get from the other side on this issue. I move to vote on his confirmation." he said, eyeing the progressives.

"Let's get on with real work and real debates. Like codifying Roe or pushing minimum wage laws, not this."

Francince Sullivan (D-AK)
Senate Floor

The elder Alaskan looked disappointed at her colleague. Hoping to have been able to play off a victory that she had convinced her caucus to back a famed Alaskan like Jay would have been great. Instead, Karel had no control over them and the progressives were set on putting on a show. She would remember this.
