Jack Chambers
@GovenrorChambers

The type of elitist LA and east coast language I’ve heard dragging Alabama in the mud while criticizing Norm Lee is disgraceful. If you disagree with the man’s politics that’s fine but your elitists disregard for rural, southern and middle America is the reason why Wolf won, and if your gonna keep it up, then prepare to lose again in 2020!

Stuyvesant Analytics Polling May 2019
Image

Stuyvesant Analytics has conducted another round of polling for the 2020 Republican Primary, for the first time without a "hypothetical" question. A decision was made to follow the direction of fellow polling firms and to focus on declared candidates, given that most major prospective candidates (with the exception of Vice President Tawney) have declared their intentions. Since the last poll was taken, the race has been dramatically shaken by the entrance of Former Secretary of Defence Bernard Porter, Mr. Arnold Wolf Jr., Senator Arthur Bragg, and Congresswoman Diane Paulson. Senator Jeffrey Calder has suspended his campaign after mostly flying below-the-radar for the past few months. Our analysts believe this decision has come due to the campaign's dwindling cash on hand, and the increasing likelihood that the Senator would not qualify for the June debate stage.

National
Sen. Arthur Bragg: 7%
Gov. James Burgun: 4% (+2)
Gov. Jack Chambers: 1.5% (+.5)
Cong. Diane Paulson (2%)
Fmr. Sec. Bernard Porter (7.5%)
Gov. Jonah Prendergast: 15% (+4)
Gov. Nathaniel Richardson: 16% (-2)
Mr. Arnold Wolf Jr. (30%)
“Someone Else”/Undecided: 18%

Iowa
Sen. Arthur Bragg: 10%
Gov. James Burgun: 7% (+3)
Gov. Jack Chambers: 2.5% (+.5)
Cong. Diane Paulson (1%)
Fmr. Sec. Bernard Porter (7%)
Gov. Jonah Prendergast: 10% (+1)
Gov. Nathaniel Richardson: 19% (-4)
Mr. Arnold Wolf Jr.: 27%
“Someone Else”/Undecided: 16.5%

New Hampshire
Sen. Arthur Bragg: 7%
Gov. James Burgun: 3% (1%)
Gov. Jack Chambers: 1% (0)
Cong. Diane Paulson: 10%
Fmr. Sec. Bernard Porter: 5%
Gov. Jonah Prendergast: 15% (+4)
Gov. Nathaniel Richardson: 19% (-2)
Mr. Arnold Wolf Jr.: 25%
“Someone Else”/Undecided: 15%

Nevada
Sen. Arthur Bragg: 6%
Gov. James Burgun: 2% (+1)
Gov. Jack Chambers: 1% (0)
Cong. Diane Paulson: 1%
Fmr. Sec. Bernard Porter: 8%
Gov. Jonah Prendergast: 13% (+4)
Gov. Nathaniel Richardson: 12% (-2)
Mr. Arnold Wolf Jr. 29%
“Someone Else”/Undecided: 28%

South Carolina
Sen. Arthur Bragg: 5%
Gov. James Burgun: 1% (0)
Gov. Jack Chambers: ~0% (0)
Cong. Diane Paulson: ~0%
Fmr. Sec. Bernard Porter: 7%
Gov. Jonah Prendergast: 17% (+4)
Gov. Nathaniel Richardson: 32% (+3)
Mr. Arnold Wolf Jr.: 30%
“Someone Else”/Undecided: 8%

Key Takeaways

-At last...Two long-anticipated have tossed their hats into the ring, and have disappointed many. Bernard Porter entered the race as an early front-runner, and saw his support slip within the first few weeks of his candidacy due to a series of controversial statements and events. He is still in a favourable position and could easily mount a comeback. The other candidate to enter was Arnold Wolf Jr., who has emerged as the candidate to beat thanks to his connections with his father and his large national profile.

-A new alpha wolf? Arnold Wolf Jr.'s support is larger than hypotheticals indicated due to a consolidation of supporters who were holding out for his sister, Lilyana (current favourite for RNC Chair) and some crossover support from voters holding out for Richard Tawney. Should Tawney enter the race, it is likely he would regain these supporters, though nothing is certain in politics.

-Bursting Bernie's bubble...Bernard Porter's supporters have mostly gone to Arnold Wolf Jr. or back to the "undecided" category, but the candidate's rapid decline has been exploited by James Burgun. The governor with abysmal name recognition made headlines during the past polling period for his views on issues like the possibility of instituting a national language. This attracted enough former Porter supporters to give him a polling bump. His work to stump in Iowa has helped him as well in the first caucus state.

-Not to brag... Arthur Bragg surprised many when he entered the race. As a minority from the more moderate conservative wing of the party and chair of an influential Senatorial committee, he has been a high profile subject of media attention since the Tea Party wave of 2010. He started with reasonable support for this reason, but it is yet to be seen how long this support will last and if he will be able to grow. He was able to win over a number of former Porter supporters who prioritise military experience in a candidate.

-First in first out? Not likely. The early candidates such as Nathaniel Richardson and Jonah Prendergast have held strong in recent polling, with both candidates proving they can hold support and still grow their numbers. Nathaniel Richardson still holds a narrow lead in the state of South Carolina, though our analysts believe he could be reaching his ceiling in the state- at least until there is more clarity on whether or not Rick Tawney intends to run.

-Presidential bump? Both Burgun and Prendergast received were the subject of positive tweets from the President, which were circulated on conservative media outlets and social media platforms. This has contributed to the polling bump each candidate has received. Jonah Prendergast seems to be picking up momentum. It is unclear whether it will last, but he has proven to be a formidable candidate despite being written off only a few months prior to this poll.

-Death by a thousand cuts? Nathaniel Richardson has seen his polls slip in most early states. He came under fire briefly from the President for his stance on a controversial bill, and though the issue was resolved it still likely hurt him. He is also bleeding support to newer candidates, namely Arthur Bragg and to a lesser extent Diane Paulson. He has even fallen behind his arch-rival Jonah Prendergast in Nevada, who is also hot on his heels in New Hampshire. However, our analysts strongly advise readers not to count the North Carolina governor out yet. He's proven an aggressive campaigner and a resilient candidate. The fact he has remained in the lead in South Carolina is indicative of his strength with retail politics.

-Resting on his laurels? Arnold Wolf Jr. has not shown himself to be very similar to his father. His rallies in Massachusetts and New Hampshire were decent and he has proven an excellent fundraiser, he does not have the same gusto as his father's in 2016. Perhaps he will find his footing when he moves his campaign deeper into Wolf Country. One thing is for certain, though he is the front-runner today, he may not be tomorrow. If one thing is clear, it's that this race cannot be run from a front porch.

-Endorsement sweepstake...The President could likely decide the primary in under 100 characters, by simply firing off a Tweet. However, he has proven hesitant to do so. Some analysts expected him to endorse his son within the same day as his announcement, but that did not happen to the surprise of many. This fact could become glaring if the President remains silent, but it has not made much of a difference at this point in the race.

-Finally, one in the chamber? Jack Chambers seemed unlikely to qualify for the debates or make much of a splash, but his campaign has seemingly received a shot in the arm in recent days. After stumping across the west, being buoyed in Iowa by his name recognition in the West of the state, and receiving most of Jeffrey Calder's support, he is on track to meet the debate threshold, setting him up for future success.

-The debates next month will shake everything up.

-It’s still anyone’s race!

Governor Jonah Prendergast Jr.
@JPJ4USA

After so many tried to count us out, Stuyvesant polling shows that the JPJ4USA campaign is working! Up 4 points since the last poll nationally, and we're now number 2 in Nevada behind that good gentleman Arnold Wolf Jr. The Wolf Revolution I am so proud to be a part of won't be killed in the primaries, let's keep fighting the good fight!

On this day Jillian was in something to match the mood: a white shirt with the writing 'May the Fourth be With You' while she engaged in her retail politiking.

"The hardest part about being a woman in politics," she paused, taking the question in with due consideration, "its not knowing whether or not you're being masculine enough for the political posts you're in while also being who you are. I'm running for President, there's an automatic expectation that I can be as jovial on the trial as possible, all while exuding some degree of authority, but as a woman, exude too much authority and you're not 'in control'," she used airquotes, "you're a bitch. Exude not enough, and you're 'too weak'," Jillian concluded, "if I had an answer for where the sweet spot is, I'd be writing a book."

The crowd laughed.

"Yeah," she gestured to the next person asking a question.

"You've spoken before about styles of politics, can you offer an explanation of what's different about yours?"

"I love that question," Jillian replied enthusiastically, "when I talk about style, I mostly mean the view of our country provided now and the view of where we're headed. When I was Governor of Virginia my fixation on education came from the decent economy we had and continue to have. Now as a Senator, my constituents are Virginians but my actions impact the nation and so I'm fixed on electoral reform, education and healthcare. It sounds generic but there's a messaging from some of the other candidates on the stage that I find frustrating, if not downright wrong, this idea that we need some sort of revolution to fix our problems. This idea that we can't work with Republicans, or that disagreements should result in intraparty battles for ideology. Once upon a time, we had disagreements and we'd compromise, we'd find a way through it. Democrats may control the House, and in a good year we may have every branch of government, but Republicans represent the mindset of at least 40% of voters at any given moment, and we have to represent all Americans when we pass laws. Congressional Acts shouldn't be passed and repealed, that's now how you attain progress in any direction. Real activists make change. Every candidate who relies on anger or frustration to power their voter base is divisive, and that's not the American way. I want to see us bring a politics of respect, and fairness to D.C. In Virginia we managed to deliver the first universal affordability plan for tertiary education in the United States. More Virginians are enrolling in Colleges statewide than at any point in our history, a record number of them being the first in their families to go to college. We passed that in compromise with Republicans. This idea that by not talking and listening with supposed red state voters we're somehow better off as a party, movement or candidacy is ridiculous. The American dream is not dead. It's not the same as it once was, but the core remains the same. I like to think of mine as a belief in a Fairer America. We can make a Fairer America a reality for us all, we don't need to rebuild the system for it, we just need to reform it. I'm deeply saddened by the President's decision to veto the bill making Election Day a federal holiday, and I promise that'd be one of the first bills I'd sign within my first hundred days as President. Yes," she gestured.

"Governor Caldwell has labeled Senator Westra a misogynist, Senator Goldman has labeled Senator Little a misogynist. Do you agree with them?"

Jillian contemplated the question for a split second before replying very flatly, "both of them should evaluate their behavior, Senator Westra especially, I like to think he's a cordial person, but he has some indefensible failures when it comes to defending the rights of women. Senator Little is a different story and I do think he was particularly disrespectful to the good Governor of Washington, but I don't think it stems for misogyny, it stems more from frustration and a desire to wrap up what was a very unproductive roundtable. Yes," she pointed to someone in the far back.

"Will you raise the minimum wage?"

Jillian very proudly picked up the button on her stool; a button showing 'Dayton 2020; A FAIR MINIMUM WAGE'

"Yes!" she replied happily into the microphone, "we'll raise it first to $12.00 and then peg it to inflation so there's an annual raise in the wage, no more waiting on Congress to get off its ass to act," she glanced up at the time and began wrapping up, "folks please do come up and ask any questions you may have, but I'm mindful that spending Star Wars Day with me is not as appealing of an option for you as it may be for my husband," she would say, appreciative of the small laugh, she put the microphone down and began taking selfies, conversing and at one point took a selfie with someone wearing an identical shirt.

She may just yet get used to this campaigning thing.

Meeting with Levi Murphy

Puertollano wrote:"Yes, that's where I was trying to hint at. I just didn't want to assume since you're a woman that you definitely wanted to argue on abortion," he said. "That's good then, we've got that sorted. "I also wanted to talk to you about vote splitting. I'm planning on staying till Super Tuesday, that's where I've placed my eggs, but probably so have you, since you'll do quite well in Washington. But I believe, depending on how we go in the first states, one of us should make room for the other."

"I agree. Although I must admit I have a similar agreement with Emily." The woman Anne was referencing was, of course, her old House colleague Emily Davenport.

Meeting with Caroline Simone

Gordano and Lysandus wrote:"I certainly wouldn't think any less of you if you decided not to, but I do need to have something on hand if I'm going to lean in on the Speaker on this. Ditching Winthrop was not a decision anyone wanted to make, but between the botched introduction of the Off Fossil Fuels Act and the fact she and Murphy are actively and openly working to unseat a whole host of incumbents holding difficult seats..." She shook her head. "Bitter pill to swallow. Representative Piotrowska's work on the carbon tax is a lot better when it comes to laying out the climate policy."

She smiled thinly, clearly trying to be more positive. "I think you're definitely one of the two more prepared-for-power progressives we have in the race. If we go with a progressive, I would want it to be you, Anne."

"I prefer the term 'fit-for-office', but thank you." Anne replied, smiling. "Anyway, is there something else you'd like to discuss?"

"Oh okay, Emily Davenport," Levi pondered. "That still doesn't stop our agreement, we can still commit to that."

He pivoted to a new topic. "I don't like to bring this up, but if you were somehow not successful in your presidential run, you would always be top priority for cabinet under any administration run by me. I like to think that you would reciprocate with me if you were the nominee?"

"That depends on what kind of position you would like to serve in." Anne replied. "I must admit that Minnesota could still vote Republican, if there was no Democratic incumbent running for re-election. I would have to keep in mind my the Senate and its composition if I were elected President, I hope you understand."

Anne briefly considered if she wasn't too harsh on Levi, choosing to add a couple of reassuring words. "But I would love to see you in my cabinet, of course."

Jack Chambers Western Tour: Orem, Utah
May 5th

The bus was riding north through the Wasatch Valley and Jack had a lot on his mind, the call with the Susan B Anthony List had been decent but certainly not the sort of major help he had been hoping for, and now there was new polling to go through.

His advisors kept telling him the polling was promising, a small bump, a chance to fill in for Calder, and in track to qualify for the debates. But 1.5% was 1.5%, and now Wolf JR was in the race leading by a large margin on almost entirely name alone. I mean Jack knew an early front runner could fall dramatically, just look at Bernard Porter, so it remained to be seen how Wolf Jr did, especially against the established Prendergast and Richardson campaigns. Speaking of Porter the man’s polling was another thorn in Jack’s side, the man had literally lead a hate speech rally to neo-nazis and yet had THREE times the votes in the poll as Jack. How could that many hate mongering cranks possibly exist?

Jack calmed himself, fine my advisors say to keep chugging along, so I will. I need to get out of Utah fast and into Nevada and then focus entirely on the early
Voting states. Super Tuesday places like Utah and Colorado won’t matter if I can’t even make an early debate. The first stop was approaching, time to cool off and put in the work

The bus came to a stop at a local library where Jack was greeted by staff and walked in. Once inside Jack was introduced to the various authors reading and signing books. Most of the authors were Mormon writers but a few mainline Protestants were present as well.

Guests hadn’t been allowed in yet so Jack mingled with the authors doing some prayers and talking faith and law. One author in particular, a woman named Megan Hunt, had actually published a book on the role of faith in government. She was a devout Mormon and had family members who’d been local and state officials. Jack purchased her book, over the protestations from Megan that he could have one for free.

After a while the guests began to enter the library room where the signings and talks would take place. Jack made sure to shake hands and greet every guest. He was the picture of stereotypical politician kissing babies and the like. Jack sat himself next to Megan and the two often held a proxy talk for the lined up guests, both expressing typically confirming opinions on faith in government. This included statements in opposition to Obegerfell v. Hodges, statements supporting the new bill in Alabama, and encouraging the use of natural law in courts and legislation.

Around midday the crowds let off and Jack went to lunch with a few of the authors. The group discussed the campaign and Jack’s chance. Tbh the questions were a bit pointed and Jack did his best to talk up his chances but often the only thing he could fall back on was faith, the hole left from Calder, and the early nature of the campaign so far.

That afternoon Jack wished the authors goodbye and returned to the library to rethank the staff. Jack then boarded the bus to head out north to Salt Lake City for his last stop in state.

FROM: Karen Brookshire
TO: Governor Norm Lee

Dear Governor,

Given your recent buzz due to your bill to restore strong protections for life and defend the law, I hope to speak to you regarding the Texas special election. I'd love to have a conversation to hopefully show you why an endorsement from you, or at least a conversation giving me advice, would go a long way in keeping Texas red and giving you a strong ally in the Senate.

Please let me know and thank you for your time.

Sincerely,
Karen Brookshire
Candidate for U.S. Senate (R-TX)
CEO of Brookshire Grocery Company

To: Karen Brookshire
From: Norm Lee

Good to hear from you Ms. Brookshire, I think keeping Texas red is an important agenda, but I’m very happy with state politics and not sticking my nose into that election for mere “pull” over the swamp. Send me a good list of work on issues you’ve done I can get excited for, and then we can talk.

Best,

Norm Lee
Father, Reverend, Governor

Bill Proposal Sheet
Official Name:Nickname: Human Life Protection Act

Section 1: This act shall be known as The Alabama Human Life Protection Act

Section 2: Section 2. Legislative Findings.

(a) This state's statute criminalizing abortion, Section 13A-13-7, Code of Alabama 1975, has never been repealed. It has remained unenforceable as a result of the U.S. Supreme Court decision in Roe v. Wade, 410 U.S. 113 (1973) and its progeny, which struck down as unconstitutional a Texas statute criminalizing abortion and which effectively repealed by implication and made unenforceable all other state statutes criminalizing abortion.

(b) On November 6, 2018, electors in this state approved by a majority vote a constitutional amendment to the Constitution of Alabama of 1901 declaring and affirming the public policy of the state to recognize and support the sanctity of unborn life and the rights of unborn children. The amendment made it clear that the Constitution of Alabama of 1901 does not include a right to an abortion or require the funding of abortions using public funds.

(c) In present state law, Section 13A-6-1, Code of Alabama 1975, defines a person for homicide purposes to include an unborn child in utero at any stage of development, regardless of viability.

(d) In the United States Declaration of Independence, the principle of natural law that "all men are created equal" was articulated. The self-evident truth found in natural law, that all human beings are equal from creation, was at least one of the bases for the anti-slavery movement, the women's suffrage movement, the Nuremberg war crimes trials, and the American civil rights movement. If those movements had not been able to appeal to the truth of universal human equality, they could not have been successful.

(e) Abortion advocates speak to women's rights, but they ignore the unborn child, while medical science has increasingly recognized the humanity of the unborn child.

(f) Recent medical advances prove a baby's heart starts to beat at around six weeks. At about eight weeks, the heartbeat can be heard through an ultrasound examination. A fetal Doppler can detect a fetal heartbeat as early as 10 weeks.

(g) It is estimated that 6,000,000 Jewish people were murdered in German concentration camps during World War II; 3,000,000 people were executed by Joseph Stalin's regime in Soviet gulags; 2,500,000 people were murdered during the Chinese "Great Leap Forward" in 1958; 1,500,000 to 3,000,000 people were murdered by the Khmer Rouge in Cambodia during the 1970s; and approximately 1,000,000 people were murdered during the Rwandan genocide in 1994. All of these are widely acknowledged to have been crimes against humanity. By comparison, more than 50 million babies have been aborted in the United States since the Roe decision in 1973, more than three times the number who were killed in German death camps, Chinese purges, Stalin's gulags, Cambodian killing fields, and the Rwandan genocide combined.

Section 3. As used in this act, the following terms shall have the following meanings:

(1) ABORTION. The use or prescription of any instrument, medicine, drug, or any other substance or device with the intent to terminate the pregnancy of a woman known to be pregnant with knowledge that the termination by those means will with reasonable likelihood cause the death of the unborn child. The term does not include these activities if done with the intent to save the life or preserve the health of an unborn child, remove a dead unborn child, to deliver the unborn child prematurely to avoid a serious health risk to the unborn child's mother, or to preserve the health of her unborn child. The term does not include a procedure or act to terminate the pregnancy of a woman with an ectopic pregnancy, nor does it include the procedure or act to terminate the pregnancy of a woman when the unborn child has a lethal anomaly.

(2) ECTOPIC PREGNANCY. Any pregnancy resulting from either a fertilized egg that has implanted or attached outside the uterus or a fertilized egg implanted inside the cornu of the uterus

(3) LETHAL ANOMALY. A condition from which an unborn child would die after birth or shortly thereafter or be stillborn.

(4) MEDICAL EMERGENCY. A condition which, in reasonable medical judgment, so complicates the medical condition of the pregnant woman that her pregnancy must be terminated to avoid a serious health risk as defined in this act.

(5) PHYSICIAN. A person licensed to practice medicine and surgery or osteopathic medicine and surgery in Alabama.

(6) SERIOUS HEALTH RISK TO THE UNBORN CHILD'S MOTHER. In reasonable medical judgment, the child's mother has a condition that so complicates her medical condition that it necessitates the termination of her pregnancy to avert her death or to avert serious risk of substantial physical impairment of a major bodily function. This term does not include a condition based on a claim that the woman is suffering from an emotional condition or a mental illness which will cause her to engage in conduct that intends to result in her death or the death of her unborn child. However, the condition may exist if a second physician who is licensed in Alabama as a psychiatrist, with a minimum of three years of clinical experience, examines the woman and documents that the woman has a diagnosed serious mental illness and because of it, there is reasonable medical judgment that she will engage in conduct that could result in her death or the death of her unborn child. If the mental health diagnosis and likelihood of conduct is confirmed as provided in this act, and it is determined that a termination of her pregnancy is medically necessary to avoid the conduct, the termination may be performed and shall be only performed by a physician licensed in Alabama in a hospital as defined in the Alabama Administrative Code and to which he or she has admitting privileges.

Section 4. (a) It shall be unlawful for any person to intentionally perform or attempt to perform an abortion except as provided for by subsection (b).

(b) An abortion shall be permitted if an attending physician licensed in Alabama determines that an abortion is necessary in order to prevent a serious health risk to the unborn child's mother. Except in the case of a medical emergency as defined herein, the physician's determination shall be confirmed in writing by a second physician licensed in Alabama. The confirmation shall occur within 180 days after the abortion is completed and shall be prima facie evidence for a permitted abortion.

Section 5. (a) An abortion performed in violation of this act is a Class A felony.

(b) An attempted abortion performed in violation of this act is a Class C felony.

Section 6. This act shall not apply to a physician licensed in Alabama performing a termination of a pregnancy or assisting in performing a termination of a pregnancy due to a medical emergency as defined by this act.

Section 7. The construction of existing statutes and regulations that regulate or recognize abortion in Alabama that are in conflict with or antagonistic to this act shall be repealed as null and void and shall recognize the prohibition of abortion as provided in this act.

Section 8. This act shall become effective six months following its passage and approval by the Governor, or its otherwise becoming law.

This bill is then honorably presented to the Alabama House of Representatives for consideration in order to protect life improving Alabama law and is backed by Governor Norm Lee and Representative Stacey Sanders on May 4th, 2020

Tim Westra 2020
May 4th, 2019
St. Joseph Catholic Church - Columbia, South Carolina

After taking a quick day off from the trail to chart course, Tim was back out, ready to reboot. He was going to make some key announcements over social media today, after his stop in South Carolina. Catholic Churches were in the minority in the Palmetto State, but Tim had been raised Catholic and thought it best to make his speech here. He had asked the chief pastor at the parish if he could make a speech to the congregation, and was accepted. The event was to be streamed on social media platforms.

"Good morning, brothers and sisters. I think we all know that in our faith, the question of how one is saved is of paramount importance. One of the most important lessons I learned as a child from the Bible is the saying from John 1:9, which says that 'If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.' The Lord is patient and hopes that all should seek repentance."

"I do not just seek forgiveness in the next life, but in this life as well. Today I come here with humility to ask forgiveness from the people in America who are suffering the consequences of beliefs that were similar to mine. I ask, humbly, for forgiveness from women in America who I have made to feel dispensable, or who have felt that I have a special inconsideration for their rights."

"Today in America, where the people in power are willing to set the clock back on women's rights in the name of our Lord, I feel it is my duty to repent for my contribution to this status quo. I do not believe that the United States is a theocracy. We cannot impose the will of a specific interpretation of sacred text on an entire people through the legal code. To impose one interpretation of one faith and discount the 2,000 other ones - that is a form of religious malpractice."

"My views on the question of bodily autonomy have developed. Our bodies are temples of God, they are holy. He breathed life into all of us and formed us in His image because He wished for us to have freedom. There is a passage in the Gospel of John where Jesus states that he wishes that we 'might have life and have it abundantly.' In other words, he hopes for us to live full and meaningful lives. Would the Lord subject any of us to live through the indignity of bearing a rapist's baby, or struggling through economic insecurity because of lack of access to contraception?"

"I value life, Jesus values life. What we call life is debated these days, and that personal choice should be held sacrosanct. He hopes for every child of his to live a life that is full, in their own way. There is reason that the Bible does not mention abortion even once, not even in parables. And while I know many women wouldn't make the decision to abort a child, that is not a decision for a government to make, especially not a government dominated by white males."

"I know that some of you here disagree, and disagree strongly. That is good. I encourage you to continue preaching what you believe if you think you are fighting a righteous fight. That is the spirit of living an abundant life. There are pro-choice activists who are fighting for their freedoms and their right to live a life that is full. There are pro-life activists and preachers who have chosen a cause they believe to be worthy. I think that is fair and they should be able to do that work to change public sentiment over the issue. But it is not fair for a government to get involved in that debate."

"It is hard to remember sometimes that human beings are fallible, even United States Senators and candidates for President. I have made grave errors in my life, and I have many blindspots. I do not purport to be perfect, and we shouldn't believe any politician who pretends to be perfect. But it is our job, if we seek the highest office in the land, to do everything in our power to learn from our mistakes and prevent them from occurring again. We have access to the best advisors, the largest organizations, and the most trustworthy information in the country. Eventually, our excuses run out."

"I have appointed campaign managers, senior staffers, and advisors from a diversity of backgrounds, from campaigns that have broken glass ceilings and from places where their lived experiences can fill the gaps in my background. I hope that this makes me more complete as a candidate and more palatable as a potential president."

"There are women in this race who have been fantastic in their leadership for the right of women to make their own choices. Senator Goldman showed leadership in the Senate over the DFLA where I failed to show the same interest and failed in my responsibility as a representative of all New Jersey constituents, including women. For that I ask forgiveness from my state."

"Some may ask, if I truly value the leadership of women, why I am still in this race. Some have called for the suspension of my campaign. I will tell them why I will not make that decision until the first vote is cast. My career has, admittedly, not been dedicated to standing up for bodily autonomy and the specific rights of women. My experience has been shaped by economic justice and worker's rights. It was my view that this issue is one that binds us together, regardless of gender, or sexuality, or race. But I now understand that no worker is safe unless their human rights are protected as well. From this point on my campaign will expand its message to focus on issues of social justice."

"Social justice is the message of our faith. To heal the sick, to fight with the poor, to stand up for the marginalized. It was the mission of the Lord's son and it is the mission of all of God's children. If there is a meaning to life, that meaning is to fight for your brothers and sisters just as much as you would fight for yourself."

"Because the fundamental issues of our time - they are not left versus right, they are right versus wrong. We live in a time when corporations are treated as people and people are treated as things. The religious left, the religious right - there's no such thing. There is only a moral center, one that belongs to each of us and is expressed in our universal values of sharing, of honesty, of kindness, of forgiveness."

"America, I hope to earn your forgiveness. Thank you."

He stepped away from the pulpit, meeting some disapproving looks and some looks of admiration. But he felt as if he had dropped a weight from his shoulder.

I condemn the Alabama Governor's assault on a woman's right to choose. The United States is not a theocracy. To impose one interpretation of one faith and discount the 2,000 other ones - that is a form of religious malpractice.

I am also happy to offer my full support for @JNLynskeyMA's Senate candidacy. This was a decision born not out of a sentiment of who I'm against, but the causes that I am for. Massachusetts deserves a strong progressive with a record of concretely improving the lives of working people. Governor Lynskey is that person.

@GovernorRichardson

I would like to voice my support for Alabama’s anti-abortion bill. I fully expect this law to be challenged in the courts but even that will be vital to the ongoing national discussion. This is a national conversation we need to have right now about the consequences of Roe v Wade and our moral character as a nation.

That was actually a big part of what I did on the city council in LA, I really made it a goal to take steps to make a valley full of suburbs feel more like a cohesive city. I grew up closer to downtown LA than Brooklyn is to Manhattan, but there’s no way to get to downtown from Glendale except a long bus or a very congested drive. We never got the full-scale subway system I wish they’d have, but it we did get some line extensions. But that’s part of what I wanted to stop by for.” He stopped for breath as he tried to tie his digression back to his point. “My goal, my dream here in the House is to modernize America’s infrastructure and transportation. Improvements to these systems are great equalizers, mobility helps the working poor find better opportunities, and advance in society. I think that’s part of why I’m here today, I want to build a coalition around rebuilding America’s crumbling infrastructure and keep that issue on the forefront of everyone’s mind.”

"Yes indeed, if you don't mind me saying this, LA's transport infrastructure is rather inept compared to NYC's. That Californian HSR project could boost it, but it keeps getting caught up in bureaucracy."
