But I can try my best. I suppose you’re thinking you would like somebody on the Republican presidential ballot to support this to help it seem more tolerable for Republicans?”

"It'd be good to put it out there. Take a leaf out of Prendergast's book, talk about the 'forgotten' and 'left behind'. Whatever support you can muster for the bill, I'd appreciate. I know there's not much appetite out there for expanding Congress but it's a debt we've been building up now for over a hundred years and it's frankly a disaster."

As Montgomery was taking in the view, he heard something at the corner of his ear. "You guys hear something?" Montgomery heard what sounded like a music box a little bit at a darkened corner of the trail, near some heavy vegetation.

Felix tried to listen for whatever Ben had heard but didn't hear anything.

"No, what'd you hear?"

Theo clutched his pocket, almost as if reaching for a gun yet not realising he didn't have one. He instead picked a long, thick stick off the ground, hoping to at least LOOK threatening.

"Let's see..." He began to hide amongst whatever vegetation he could, trying to spot out the music. He pulled something out of his backpack, something that looked like the telescope from earlier. He turned on a light on it, trying to find where the sound came from.

"Let's see..." He began to hide amongst whatever vegetation he could, trying to spot out the music. He pulled something out of his backpack, something that looked like the telescope from earlier. He turned on a light on it, trying to find where the sound came from.

Felix struggled to stifle his laughter at Vohoffsky's attempt to appear threatening. He pulled out his phone and turned on the flashlight, turning it on each bush in succession.

"Hang on, I got this." Ben said, as he looked deeper into the bushes. Ben shined his flashlight from his phone near the bushes. He saw something small but shaped like a box. Sure enough, there was a small music box playing faintly in the bushes. "Where did this come from-" Ben was about to ask, until suddenly someone jumped out of the bushes. They jumped up on Montgomery's back, piggybacking him where he immediately panics. He tried to swing his phone at them, but they just laughed as they were riding him.

Both Holt and Vohoffsky saw a random man with clown makeup smeared all over his face with a knit cap on. Some random t-shirt and jeans were what he wore. Montgomery tried to throw him off, but he was onto his back tight.

The post-debate meetings and shenanigans began, Jillian invited Martin Spellman to join her for a coffee before they hit the trail once again, then when back in D.C. arrived at the office of Tim Westra first, she'd scheduled a meeting with Frank Doyle following this one. First, came Spellman.

"Well, for starters, I want to work on legislation with Republicans and Democrats that actually require urgency. Both electoral reform and to an extent gun violence are not seen as issues that require urgency by most voters. But tell them that Social Security is in danger? That it'll be insolvent in 15 years? Then that's urgent, especially for the seniors that voted you guys - the Republicans - in."

"You know when the last time Social Security saw massive reforms was? It was in 1983, with a Democratic House, a Republican Senate, and a Republican president. The parallels to the current day are clear, and I think there's a good bet that I can get us to take action on Social Security in a bipartisan manner."

"In terms of the gun bill and electoral reform, I haven't decided on a position for the latter yet. But the gun reform bill? It's really not a big deal, it's basically exactly what they did in Florida. Background checks, raising the gun purchase age, red flag laws. Even Republicans support those, I can vote for it easily."

He arched his eyebrows, "Malcolm Douglas is no Tip O'Neil,Warrick is no Baker" his face seemed to dishearten as he said, "and Arnold Wolf is no Ronald Reagan. I'd be interested in the contents of this social security bill."

"Have you secured Jonah's endorsement, he's your best bet at pushing someone out for their votes," he leaned back in his chair a little, "then there's the second debate in due course," he waved his hand, "that one will matter as much, if not more than anything you do between now and then."

"Oh, my race is not yet run, you little shits." Theo then began sprinting at them, his blunt object in hand. He caught up to one, striking him straight in the head. This didn't kill him, but it certainly hurt.
