Not to mention the cost of it all. It quite literally makes the government bigger." said Ruler, repeating a bit of what his staffers had informed him about the proposal.

He sighed at the mention of Anderson.

"It's a chance to mean that rural areas like yours can get more representation too, and an expansive caucus gives you a lot more latitude to be true to yourself rather than to prevailing dogma. And the cost isn't much in the grand scheme of government finance." She pondered for a moment, taking a sip of her water. "I feel like Volker and his whips take you for granted, John. They seem to think that because you're new here, a bit disoriented, that you'll do whatever they say."

"Though if you want me to be a maverick, help me get into the Senate." he stated plainly.

"You know asking me to sabotage our own Iowa Senate campaign is a step too far for me to commit to, but it would certainly help you in the Senate general to appear somewhat more independently minded than the national party as it's a swing state. Plus, Iowa gaining representation increases Iowa's power at the expense of, say, liberal Vermont. You could stand by that."
