FYI, if I need to instead app a more conventional “establishment” character for balance, that could be arranged instead. This was a fun idea, but I have many others.

Why does he not just run as an independent?

Mostly for the fun of doing a primary. He might be interesting as a Democrat too. In a lot of ways he’s just a deviation of the Yang-Tulsi type of single-issue unorthodox American liberals (I would stray from calling either progressive). Yang had UBI, Tulsi had Regime Change Wars, this dude is going to be the legalization guy, and other than that, basically be an independent mixture of libertarian and progressive ideas.

Actually, running as an independent would help him build funding ahead of the general and his name recognition is very high (on the level of say Eddie Vedder or Dave Grohl), so it is a possibility.

Now that I see it, that is Doyle’s seat. That changes things a bit.

NS Nation Name: Free Ward Marchers
Character Name: Meridith Esther Brookley
Character Gender: Female
Character Age:83
Character Height:5ft 6in
Character Weight:132 lbs
Character Position/Role/Jobs: Representative for Florida's 4th congressional district (1978-1990), Governor of Florida (1992-2000), U.S Senator (2018-present)* *undecided/do not know if will be allowed
Appearance: (Photo preferred, not required):
Character State of Origin: Florida
Character State of Residence: Florida
Character Party Affiliation: Republican
Unown unless otherwise stated
Black Lives Matter
Extremly For
Brookley having always been a civil rights advocate since the late '50s, and she willingly and intensely supports African American rights movements.

Gun Control
Against

Brookley thinks the constitution is the law of the land, and the government has no right to meddle with the people's right to bear arms, however, Brookley does see the need to have background checks and regulations.
Medicare for all
against
Brookley believes that broader healthcare competition will drive down costs and that medicare for all is an expensive and non-functioning solution

Immigration
Mixed/leaning towards reform
Brookley sees immigration as a problem but believes that the atrocious immigration judicial system is mostly to blame

Tax the 1%
Mixed/Leans against
Although Brookley sees the reason why there is a higher tax for the wealthy, she doesn't think someone should be punished because of their wealth

The war on drugs
Against
Brookley believes that the war on drugs has put innocent people (a majority of the African American) behind bars. Brookley believes that the use of drugs should be legal, but selling them should not

Abortion
Against
Brookley believes that abortion should be illegal unless it is a medical emergency, rape, or incest

All other beliefs can be assumed to match up with the republican party beliefs unless otherwise stated

Main Strengths:

Political Moderate: In these trying, and politically polarizing times Mrs. Meridith Brookley prides herself on being a right-leaning centrist, a quality that many people admire.

Anti-Wolf: Even running against Incumbent President Arnold Wolf in the 2016 republican primaries (and was in third place until the Iowa caucus in February after a bout of pneumonia) Mrs. Brookley has never changed her stance on President Wolf which is in her own words " Wolf is the most unstable, politically dangerous, and unholy man to ever grace the Whitehouse with their presence". This gives her a one up with centrists and even some moderate democrats

Interparty Cooperation: Being a centrist of sorts, she, unlike the current administration, is completely willing to reach over the aisle and work with Democrats to get things done

Political Insider: She has been in the game for a long time and knows how the system works inside and out

2016 election: Her running in the 2016 republican primaries has given her well-known recognition and a nice (but small) following of Anti-Wolf republicans (which she likes to call true republicans)

Main Weaknesses:

Out of the Loop: Mrs. Brookley hasn't been in political office for almost 20 years a lot has changed, and she struggles to stay relevant and up to date.

Old Age: Although she has a mind as sharp as a knife Mrs. Merdith is still 83 and her age puts voters off

Anti-Wolf: Although her Anti-Wolf sentiments give her recognition among moderates most republican voters support Wolf and his efforts. So much so that after she dropped out of the 2016 primaries she tried running for senate and lost by a good margin

Health concerns, and a defeat: In the 2016 Primaries Mrs. Brookley was in third place until February when debates and polling were going on in Iowa. Before the debate, she got seriously ill with a bout of pneumonia and was unable to go, causing her to lose all three states to Wolf, and dropped to last place in the primaries

Biography: Meridith Esther Brookley was born April 10th, 1936 to a working-class family in Jacksonville, Florida. Early on in life, she showed a talent for public speaking and debate, being nicknamed "the silver tongue" by her friends and family, for her ability to persuade anyone and everyone. She graduated from her small high school with Honors in 1956, from there, she became quite a vocal civil rights advocate and anti-segregationist she would often get into debates on the ethics of Jim Crow laws.

Brookley despite her support of African American rights would still support the economic model of the republican party and identified as a republican. The Brookley Fund went bankrupt in the winter of 1962, but Brookley's passion was still strong especially when she joined Martin Luther King Jr. on his march on Washington on August 28, 1963, this is where she knew things needed to change

After the march on Washington Brookley went to Harvard and graduated in the fall of 1968 to become a lawyer specializing in civil rights infringement. She goes on to work as a lawyer for almost 5 years until she is convinced to run for Florida senate after a disastrous political campaign Brookley was only able to secure 13% of the vote, but this gained the attention of the GOP who convinced her to run again this time for representative for Florida's 4th congressional district in 1978. During her three terms as a representative she was known as a "Soft-handed compromiser" for giving out on most republican issues to please the democrats for this she lost her fourth term reelection by a slim margin.

During the start of her second term, she met the 5th term, republican senator Karl Brian Quince in 1987 and married him in December of 1988 (deciding not to take his last name). After her time as a rep, Brookley decided not to for another political office and focus on her own life, Until she was coaxed by her husband to run for Governor. Even with her unappealing status back as a rep, Brookley was just barely able to beat her opponent in 1992. During Brookley's first term as Governor, she mostly passed civil rights legislatures as both the house, and the senate were under democratic control. Through-out her second term, now with a republican house and senate, she passed several immigration reforms, abortion restrictions, and severely reduced income tax

Fast forward 16 years and Brookley is staying comfortably in her home in Jacksonville, and her husband in poor health, Brookley had no intention of holding political office that is until she heard about the candidates. Brookley knew about Arnold Wolf very well, an opportunist to the highest degree, and a destructive force to the sanctity of democracy she couldn't sit around and do nothing. When she announced her presidential bid in January of 2016 most people scoffed "who is this 80-year-old woman doing running for the highest office in the free world" they said at least they said that until the debates came. Brookley during the debates was ruthless mostly targeting Wolf and his crackpot ideas, she eloquently and logistically was able to pushback Wolf and his mindless name-calling and misogynist rhetoric towards her. Her vigilance and take no shit attitude bolstered her to third place in the polls that was until she got sick with a terrible bout of pneumonia. It was the beginning of February and Brookley was not at Iowa to stop Wolf in his tracks at the debates, this severely damaged Brookley's campaign. Wolf went on to chastise and mock Brookley every chance he got, as an example at the debate Wolf was asked what he thought about Brookley's current health and what that meant to the campaign his response was "We can't have ye old Granny Groucho dementia shuffling her way into the presidency, we need someone reliable"

Having lost Iowa to her rival Brookley still recovering and discredited withdrew her bid and went back home, But just because she lost that time doesn't mean she can't win, and her supporters are hoping she will claim another political office

Other Info: Brookley has announced her intention to run for Florida senator again when the time comes, Brookley's husband Karl Brian Quince died at the age of 90 of natural causes (February 2019)

I fixed the last bit you talked about, i ended up swapping her governorship and representativeship for it to make more sense. I was also wondering because there are two Republican senators in Florida, and only one is claimed if I could say i claimed the other one in 2018

1. How old was Karl Brian Quince when she married him? He would have to be 65 minimum.
2. Why would the legislature block all her legislation out of spite? She's married to the Senator from Florida and she won the governorship. At least she had the loyalty of her own party.
3. If her first term was such a disaster how could she win a second term?
4. You need to give us a few details on her political positions

1. Meridith and Karl married in 1988. Meridith was 52 Karl was 59 remember Meridith is 83
2. I get how that's confusing I changed that so now it makes sense
3. I also changed that to
4. I hope I did a decent job explaining her positions
5. sorry I took so long to respond

I feel like it adds some fun if incumbents are facing new opponents. Doyle is a Progressive so if you're primarying him as a Moderate, you're basically Joe Kennedying the guy lmao

I think I'll be dropping the independent run until the general, since whilst I do have good character plans, none of them are suitable for the 3 states or Texas.
