Northeast is a wide expanse but has roving bands of steppe folk
Southeast tends to be isolated and sparse not much is known
And the center is a huge mountain range called the spine mountains, and woodland.

As for mechanism, I'm thinking most artifacts are given life through a slight drain of energy from their crafters, and sustained/refueled by feeding off of their owners over time, bit by bit. So an amulet consumes a small trickle of power from the wearer over years or months, to be released in a burst when called upon.

I don't really have a name for that school, but it is certainly distinct from anything we have at present. Any thoughts on naming?

Pretty much was thinking that for early forms of artefacts due to lack of materials. Anyway any bonus science, like +2 or +4 for already partially developing it?

Was thinking of calling it cast crafting, but this is better. Guess I'll reserve that term for the crafting process and use artifice as the name of the school.

Nah, just make their current abilities effect their development. Imagine a human, probably some bloke from the Hierarchy, mentioning some dark practices in the northland's, great plainswalkers, who capture enslave all in their path. Those captured face a grim date, some are used as labor under the worst conditions, all the way to mere resources used to expand the capacity in which these dark Arameri use to store their fell Mana.
