We drove them back, and now giving chase to prevent them from rallying. All warriors have died except a few. Pretty much a mob of angry brew drinking men at this point (civilian troops who choose to fight).

Essentially. In this case the vampire deaths came because ill-disciplined recruits preferred to hunt men then animals.
