Application
Name: Bruce Adam Janssen
Position: United States Attorney General
Age: Born February 4, 1996 (age 71)
Appearance: Image

First Impression:
Outward personality:
Character history: Bruce Adam Janssen was born on February 4, 1996 in Lafayette, Louisiana, to Anna Marie (née Mereaux; 1971 - 2043), a french-speaking nurse at Lafayette General of Cajun descent, and Richard Bruce Janssen Sr. (1970 - 2021), a police officer at the Lafayette Police Department. Richard Janssen was of Scandinavian, Irish and German descent. The Janssens' had three other children; Richard John "Dick" Janssen Jr. (1993 - 2021), Mary Margaret Janssen (1998 - ) and William Michael Janssen (2000 - 2061).

The family moved to New Orleans in 2000 when Richard Sr. got a job with the New Orleans Police Department. In 2004 Anna lost her job due to stress and while she later found work doing odd jobs and working part time the family struggled financially. During hurricane Katrina they lost the family home and had to endure several months of homelessness. While eventually the family managed to find a new home they struggled. Richard Sr., always a heavy drinker, had developed a serious drinking problem and the marriage between Richard and Anna was fraying.

Though his early life was thus marked by hardship young Bruce Janssen was a well adjusted child who did good in school. He attended De La Salle High School where he participated in the Reserve Officer's Training Corps program and competed on the debate team. After graduating high School in 2014 he applied for the police academy after briefly considering enlisting in the army. Completing the program with honors he took a job as a police officer for the NOPD where his father and Dick Janssen already worked, determined to make money for college. In 2015, while working full time as a police officer, he began studying Criminal Justice & Political Science at Delgado Community College. It was while at college that he met his first wife Madeleine Ann Cleary (1996 - 2021).

In 2019 he graduated college and married Cleary. (Constitutional crisis stuff)

After graduating Harvard Law School in 2023 Janssen was offered an internship in the office of an aspiring young senator, Melinda Delcastillo. Janssen joined the office of Delcastillo as a congressional aide. Janssen, despite his past in the militia movement, was greatly impressed with Delcastillo's drive to bring an end to the instability and chaos of the Constitutional Crisis. Despite his youth and lack of political experience Janssen worked tirelessly to facilitate career of Delcastillo. He campaigned vociferously for Delcastillo in 2024, serving as her deputy campaign manager in Louisiana, a state which the senator carried. After Delcastillo's inauguration Janssen, a true believer in Delcastillo-ism, was appointed Associate White House Counsel and thus came to play a key role in defending the extrajudicial behaviour of the new administration. A highly competent lawyer and a fierce advocate for the president's agenda Janssen was a respected member of the new administration earning plaudits from his superiors even if some expressed unease with his ruthlessness, and most colleagues predicted that Janssen had a bright future in the Delcastillo White House. Yet his tenure there would prove brief. In 2025 Janssen was approached by Andre Lavoie, Janssen's former boss from his days in the NOPD. Lavoie, a friend of Janssen's father and a fellow former militiaman, had been appointed FEMA administrator by President Delcastillo. His nomination hearing had been tense and he had had to settle for the status of acting FEMA administrator while the administration scrambled to secure a senate majority for his confirmation. In need to better lawyers he asked Janssen to join him in FEMA as Chief Counsel. Janssen, surprising most of his colleagues, took the job. Despite having publicly argued that President Delcastillo had the legal right to retain the office of President pro tempore of the Senate after being sworn in as President of the United States of America, Janssen had privately argued that it was both a strategic mistake and a violation of the constitution. When in 2025 President Delcastillo put herself on the Supreme Court Janssen, while continuing to argue the president's right to do so, had had enough. Befuddled colleagues, who did not knew Janssen to be the least bit squeamish about the authoritarianism of the president, debated whether he was motivated by genuine belief in the sanctity of the constitution or if perhaps he had ambitions to sit on the Supreme Court himself one day and was disappointed at the prospect of the body being discontinued. In any case Janssen left the White House for what most considered a demotion to work as Chief Counsel in FEMA.

When Janssen joined FEMA in 2025 the primary purpose of the organization was responding to disasters. Lavoie, Janssen, and a cadre of Delcastillo loyalists they brought into the organization, however felt that the organization had too narrow a mandate. Regarding the Constitutional Crisis as the greatest domestic emergency in the US since the civil war, Lavoie and Janssen, having both lost much during the crisis, regarded the faillure of FEMA to react during the violence of the crisis as a betrayal of the principles of the organization. If the Constitutional Crisis had not fit the bill for an emergency to be managed Lavoie and Janssen, knew not what did. They decided that FEMA would in the future take a more active role in managing not simply natural disasters but also political and criminal emergencies. This, Janssen impressed upon Lavoie, was not legal as it wildly exceeded the mandate established for FEMA by the Reorganization Plan No. 3 of 1978. So a division of labor was agreed. Lavoie would begin transform FEMA into a tool of the Delcastillo revolution, able to suppress dissidents and pave the way for the dictatorship, while Janssen would defend the legality of such actions against both the opponents outside the administration and the ones within it, including the Secretary of Homeland Security and the great many, in Janssen and Lavoie's view, naive Delcastillo staffers who failed to acknowledge that democracy had ended and that maintaining Delcastillo's rule would require getting one's hands dirty.

For the next three and a half year Janssen earned a reputation as a ruthless and efficient defender of the increasingly unconstitutional and brutal actions of the new FEMA. Repeatedly Janssen was called on the defend FEMA in court, before both chambers of congress and even in the media and public opinion. Using creativity, quasi-legal maneuverings, bribery, threats and above all the tacit approval of the president, Janssen did so with great success. Nevertheless the opposition from the moderate democratic factions within the Delcastillo administration, a group derogatorily referred to by Janssen as "wets", eventually grew too vocal to be ignored by the president. In 2028 when news broke that a leftwing group advocating for the restoration of democracy in the US had been detained in a FEMA camp in Texas without trial and made to do forced labor in what became known as "Dentongate" the outcry was too much for the administration to handle. The Secretary of Homeland Security threatened to resign over the matter, and a clear majority on the Supreme Court seemed about to take action. The President, seeing that FEMA had gone too far, fired Lavoie to placate her "wet" allies, the media and the general public.

The "wet" deputy administrator of FEMA, who Janssen and others suspected of being a whistleblower in "Dentongate", was passed over for the position of acting administrator. Instead the President nominated Janssen for the position and asked him to assume the role of "acting" administrator, pending confirmation by the senate. This later move was legally dubious and the nomination of Janssen proved immensely controversial. It was not until 2029 that Delcastillo was able to force his nomination through with a paper thin 51-49 confirmation vote in the Senate chamber.

Describe the last time your character and Melinda Delcastillo spoke: During cabinet meeting on September 13

First draft. Note that my character spent two years holding two separate cabinet positions. Pretty sure this is illegal in the US, but its not at all uncommon in dictatorships so I figured it would be alright. In fact I was wondering if it would be possible for my character to unofficially be in charge of both DoJ and DHS?

I don’t think it would be illegal since the First Citizen holds three jobs

I’d like to keep the cabinet positions seperate, just because it does not focus too much power in the hands of one person. The trick here is to use whatever limited influence you have to get ahead.
The name's James. James Usari. Well, my name is not actually James Usari, so don't bother actually looking it up, but it'll do for now.

The dual cabinet position is purely historic. My character would have not been Secretary of Homeland Security for seventeen years.

Application
Name: Conrad Autumn
Position: Governor of Texas
Age: 31
Appearance:
Image

First Impression: When you first meet Governor Autumn, he comes off as very confident and at most times annoyingly arrogant. You can tell he cares about his appearance by his well-groomed attire and formal manners.

Outward personality: Governor Autumn is an extremely suave and charismatic individual; what he lacks in his father's intimidation factor and military prowess, he makes up with his personality. As stated before, the Governor is very arrogant, often his childlike demeanor can get the best of him leaving him in fits of rage.
Character history:

To fully understand Governor Autumn, we must begin with the tale of his family and of his father, the legendary Colonel Sebastian Autumn. The Autumn family had belonged to a long line of aristocracy from Russia, often with its men as ranking cavalry officers and or military advisors to the Czar. After the February Revolution, in larger part of the Bolshevik, the current family patriarch saw the futility in fighting the Red Army, fleeing the country with their possessions and emigrated to America. Alexei Autumn settled outside of Dallas, investing the families fortune into cattle. With their blue-blood background, they soon were taken in by the social elite of Dallas. Although now entrepreneurs in this brave new world known as America, the Autumn family continually stressed civic duty and honor above all with their newfound patriotism.

Colonel Autumn SR. was born on September 8th, 1980. Sebastian yearned for nothing, he grew up in a very privileged state. He was a very intelligent child, earning honors in his academics. When the time came; he opted for WestPoint Military Academy. His father served in Korea and before that his father served in World War Two, it was only right that he continued his prestigious family lineage. Sebastian excelled through his course and soon became an army officer for the 187th Infantry Regiment. He came out the other end a war hero; reaching the rank of Lt. Colonel, seven tours of the Middle East, earning a distinguished service cross and a purple heart along the way.

During his illustrious military career, Sebastian had been engaged to the heiress of the Rutgers Oil fortune. This had been an arranged marriage between the two families to ensure that the Rutgers, without any male heirs, to allow someone of high esteem to ensure the survival of the company. By the time Sebastian hit his 22nd year in the armed services, tragedy struck. His name was almost destroyed after word got out that he ordered the execution of a village that had been harboring Taliban. He was able to escape this nearly unscathed; with his family name, wealth, and military service it was thrown under the bus yet he was forced to be honorably discharged by those at the Pentagon who had deemed Sebastian a threat. See, Sebastian had flirted with far-right extremism, extreme patriotism, and the notion of fascism.

Booted out of the military, under the guise of "honorable discharge", Sebastian returned home to run the family estate. He had other ideas rather than to live an ordinary life, he soon formed the Patriot's Reserve, a citizen's militia with the title Colonel above him. With Sebastian's wealth and influence, his militia ever overpassed that of the Texas Light Foot Militia and earned national respect from other armed groups such as the Oath Keeper's. During the Constitutional Crisis, the Patriot's Reserve became one of the main combatants in Texas. Such a large state had hundreds of political faction fighting amongst themselves; but the Patriot's Reserve became very apparent. With the wealth afforded by Sebastian and the control of many of Texas's oil lines through his marriage with the Rutgers, the Patriot's Reserve were well-armed.

They rampaged through the state; hanging malcontents down the highway, beating those who didn't live up to the "Anglo-Saxon Christian" values, and even contributing to the infamous Sacking of Austin in which the Patriot's Reserve burnt the Texas State capitol building to the ground and executed the previous governor by firing squad. Melinda knew that Texas was a larger territory to subdue, as said before hundreds of political factions fought within the Lonestar state not counting the thousands of renegades and bandits that plagued the highways. Sebastian knew that Melinda would reunite the United States, it was just a matter of when. He reached out to her and gave her his terms "I, Sebastian Autumn, be granted the governorship of the State of Texas as a respected military individual and a presidential pardon for all actions considered 'crimes' during this ever-lasting period of conflict in return for my support for the Delcastillo administration in both military and economic terms". While she originally was opposed to this notion, as Colonel Autumn was labeled a war-criminal, she gave into the demands which ultimately saved him from the Special Federal Tribunal for War Crimes. Under the name of First Citizen Delcastillo, Colonel Autumn began an aggressive campaign to subdue the rest of Texas. After the head of the last revolutionary rotted upon a pike placed on Highway 15, Colonel Autumn was granted governorship of the state of Texas. Many cried out in anguish as this fascist war criminal could walk away without a scratch and become a government official.

Governor Autumn, although ideologically different than Delcastillo, loyally followed her. He poured millions into the restoration of America's infrastructure and leased the Rutger Oil refineries to the United States government. In return, Autumn was granted near autonomy in the State of Texas. He 'enslaved' thousands of discontents to work in the oil fields under the guise of 'rehabilitation'. The Patriot's Reserve became a Texas government paramilitary group in charge of "protecting American Democratic values and fighting communism" enforcing the SS-esque police state in Texas. Autumn created a cult of power around him, many of the far-right conservatives in the United States revered him.

He served as governor and steward of the state for nearly forty years, he finally passed after a stroke. This left the helm to a young and unexperienced Conrad Autumn. Conrad served in the Patriot's Reserve, specifically the Alamites, the guard of the Patriot's Reserve. Although unlike his father, he had seen no real combat. For the purpose of legitimizing his rule, Conrad enacted the first gubernatorial elections in years for Texas. Black hooded men ensured that Conrad won by a whopping 95% for a ten year term as governor. Conrad was not as intelligent as his father but far more ruthless and ambitious, he was determined to etch his name in history just as his father did.

Describe the last time your character and Melinda Delcastillo spoke: First Citizen Delcastillo invited the newly-elected Governor to the capitol to "congratulate" him on his political victory and ensure the same loyalty his father had shown. As he arrived, the two sat down for discussion in which began with Delcastillo questioning him about loyalty. Conrad, with a short-temper, made several sexist remarks and scoffed at the fact that he more-or-less pledge his loyalty to the frail women. As Delcastillo tried to ignore his remarks, she asked him about renewing the lease for the Rutger Oil Fields for the betterment of the nation, in which Conrad exclaimed that the First Citizen was greedy and that she reminded him of the same villains his father sought to exterminate. After a heated exchange, Conrad left the capitol, leaving the fate of Texas and bond between the Federal Government and Autumn regime unknown.

Application
Name: Curtis Berrywood
Position: Secretary of Homeland Security
Age: 39
Appearance:
Image

First Impression: A tall man with broad shoulders and a severe face, Curtis isn't the kind of man you'd expect to tell a joke. The first time you meet him he is likely on the move going somewhere to meet someone in his continued pursuit of another ulcer. Putting out the end of a cigarette and lighting another, he would give you a firm handshake and a thin smile before asking you what was up? You would likely notice that even though he has about fifty other things happening at once, you have his full attention in that moment, and the answer he gives you may not be well thought out per se, but it is direct and to the point.

Outward personality: Curtis used to try and be the "cool boss", which lasted right up until the end of his first month as a Sherrif. He is likely to be scowling and he looks downright unfriendly. Which isn't to say he is unfriendly, he desperately wants to be "cool boss" again, but he knows that he has a lot to deal with and not a lot of time so more often than not he's likely to handle a situation quickly and, if he can't deal with it there, direct the problem to the member of his staff most qualified to carry out his instructions, before moving on.

Character history: Curtis has the enviable (unenviable if you have asked him lately) luck of falling backasswards into promotions. He was a Sheriff's Deputy straight out of high school, a strong sense of civic duty leading him into it. He was good at it, not great but good. It didn't take long to get ranks and by 24 he was a Captain. Weird? Yes. Unheard of? Also yes. But god help him, the unlucky idiot was going to do his best. By the time he was 28, he fell into being the youngest Sheriff of Plumas county to date. Once again, he was good, not great, but good. Crime didn't go up any more than it already was and a few bad murders that caught regional attention were solved, helping put his face on the late-night news circuit. Most important though? He was popular. His county loved him and he always seemed to be able to say the right thing or at least the thing that resonated the most with his constituents.

His first taste of federalism was when Ms. Delcastillo visited his county in the aftermath of a devastating forest fire that claimed the county seat of Quincy. In a private conversation with him, Ms. Delcastillo was struck by just how genuinely effected Curtis was with the ~200 lives (assumed) lost in the fires, and how his response spared nearly no expense, with even Curtis himself making his way out into the burned mountainsides to look for bodies. When she asked him why? Why was he, the Sheriff, putting on boots and digging around the middle of nowhere a mile down a mountain trail that sat on a 70-degree incline looking for someone because their friend had gotten a text from them saying they were going to be "in the area"? All he could do was shrug and say "She was someone's kid Ma'am." and leaving it there.

His luck would strike again and at just 30 he ran for congress and won his seat, the next election cycle he was a senator. Both times it was the memory of those fires and his ability to give frank interviews and debates that won him his seats. He made a good impression once again in the Executive branch, where even as a young Congressman and Senator he was willing to meet often with the First Citizen where even if the topic was contentious he was capable of keeping an almost conversational attitude with her.

So she made him Secretary of Homeland Security, and to be blunt, shit got really real, real quick.

Describe the last time your character and Melinda Delcastillo spoke: The two of them met in the Nebraska Avenue Complex for coffee and to discuss a hot button situation on the Mexican border where a pair of fugitives had fled to Ciudad Juárez. He assured her that he had spoken with law enforcement that was after the pair and that he had been briefed that they would need to return to the US at some point. He was aware that while the pair posed little actual threat, they had earned the ire of the general public and that he had been in communication with two Border Patrol Section Chief's and was working with them to ensure the pair's capture. They departed on good terms.

I know the app is... weird. If it's too weird let me know.

Disclaimer: I am not some far-right extremist nor do I condone it, my prayers go out to those affected by any form of extreme nationalism in wake of several massacres. I simply enjoy being the villain every now and then.

I don't think we are allowed to do governors as we are supposed to be power players in Washington D.C.
