Name:Alard the Iron willed

Alard is a tall young man with black hair and a few slash scars scattered about his body. His teeth are surprisingly clean for a person of his time

Race:Human

Faction:The Lords of Ferrow

Age:25

Magic:N

Specialized Skills: Master Swordsmen, Speech/haggling, Hunting and tracking, and cooking

Personality:Alard has been said to be a lively figure always speaking of his exploits throughout his time being a Lord. He doesn't take much seriously which can and will come off as annoying to others a fact which he knows but does not care about. His carefree attitude extends towards everything he does regardless of the importance of the matter.

Bio:Alard was born as a failing merchants son abandoned by his mother. As a boy, he was taught the ways of a merchant and the benefits of a silver tongue, two things that he was much better at than his father. Slowly bringing back the life of his father's trade post. However, he grew disillusioned with his life of swindling and trading and at 20 he hit the road as an adventurer. He went on many travels locally never really traveling far from his home. One day early in his career he met an old man who mentored him in his combat abilities. He never really gave Alard his name for reasons he found out later...

After a few years of dealing with bandits and grabbing the occasional treasure for his aging father, he stopped at a local village where they told him a great and terrible beast was raiding their livestock and ruining their farms. Thinking of it nothing more than a large bear he took off into the forest with nothing more than his sword and some basic armor, little did he know he would find a Snjókall waiting in a cave. He entered into a bitter battle with it, only barely escaping with his life. As he returned into the town with the Snjókall's head there were cheers and the bestowal of his promised gold and expected acclaim his mentor approached him. The crowd grew silent and Alard confused cane to share some of the reward with his mentor. It came a surprise when his mentor introduced himself as Lord Orion, one of the legendary Lords of Ferrow, and even more pleasant when he wanted to take him as an apprentice. He gladly accepted the offer and went on his way to the capital.

The trip was uneventful until they had reached the king's chambers which were astounding to him. He had never even thought of the possibility of being here among Lords of Ferrow and the King. As it turns out he wasn't just to be an apprentice, he was to be Lord Orion's successor, and that an ancient evil was returning. The Mirgowan. He had heard of them in legend but hadn't given much thought of them seeing them as fables to further cement The Lord's reputation. The king speaking of them in a deathly serious tone made him reconsider his beliefs, and then Orion along with the rest of the Lords with their successors lead them into the keep and transferred their Ferrow soul fragments. Alard's next thought was about the adventures the next few years we're going to bring.

Looks good, but Alard would only have been told stories about the Lords of Ferrow, not that his "father" was one. He could have been raised as a noble, but he wouldn't know about his father's role until the transferring of souls. I'll TG you with more details.

Question: Is gunpowder readily available in this fantasy world, or perhaps an equivalent? Because I have an idea for a character.

Name: Marie Väihken (pronounced MAH-ree-ay)
Marie is 5'7 and quite thin with sharp, blue-violet eyes, angular features and a heavily freckled face, some have even compared her appearance to a bird of prey. So she does have a striking appearance but is not considered beautiful...however she does have an impressive mane of blonde hair that she is quite proud of and is her one great beauty.

Race: Human

Faction: Shimmering Tower

Age: 28

Magic: Thaumatic

Specialized Skills: Mage: she's almost entirely devoted to her spellcraft and her specialty is abjuration, spells that protect, block or banish. She's also skilled in potion brewing and in the drawing of sigils.
Personality: She's actually a bit reclusive, spending time among her small circle or among her spell tomes than any new people...she doesn't really speak much and prefers to keep to herself unless she's around people that she trusts.

Bio: Marie was born in the walled empire of Endervald to Zullie, a magician who was highly sought after for magical favors, and this is how she made her living. Marie never knew her father, but didn’t really have any desire to actually...she considers her childhood a happy if uneventful one with her mother and older brother and sister doting on her (they were joined by a younger sister when Marie was five). Ever since she was old enough to read, she learned the magical arts from her mother and knew that she wanted to be a great wizard one day. Always a little withdrawn, she would spend her time helping her mother or reading when she wasn’t playing with her siblings, but as she grew up she wanted to see and do more. When she turned nineteen, Marie left her home for the first time to travel the world as an adventurer and at first she didn’t want to join any factions because she wishes to keep her independence. However, she knew that the Shimmering Tower has access to spell tomes and magical knowledge that she probably wouldn’t be able to access on her own, so after making a bit of a name for herself on her own she came back to join the faction. While Marie has nothing but the utmost respect for the Tower and their work and enjoys spending time with many of her colleagues, she prefers not to be chained so she doesn’t plan on staying forever. During her adventures with them, she met a young mage that worked with the Merchant’s Guild (apparently their current employer wanted to make sure that somebody would show up for the job in case one couldn’t make it) and she had to end up competing with this man for the job and the prize money. Eventually they ended up teaming up reluctantly when a foe became too much for either one of them to face alone and split the prize money between them. The man’s name was Silas Blackmore and over the years they kept running into each other, becoming friends and eventually getting married. They usually adventure together when they’re not working with their guilds and have time for freelance stuff.
Equipment
    - Family Grimoire: a copy of the original Väikhen grimoire made by Zullie for all her children, contains additions of spells that Marie made herself learned the years.
    - Potions: She has a set of ten potions, five of them are for healing, one is a poison the other four are poison antidotes.
    - Robes: Standard Shimmering Tower Robes as well as her own coat that bears her family crest.
    - Dagger: In case you can’t use your spells and need to cut a b****
    - Cloak: A cloak sewn with patterns of stars
    - Hat- Blue and wide-brimmed, decorated with moons around the brim (not pointy, thank you)
-Scrolls: She has four scrolls of magic, two are for invisibility and two are disguise spells
-Ring: This ring acts like a wand in a lot of respects, amplifies and focuses magic by storing a portion of energy for rapid-fire spellcasting in an emergency.

Looks pretty good, but I'm afraid I'm going to have to adjust the potions a bit. Invisibility and disguising is a bit outside of what I had in mind. Would you consider replacing them with Scrolls of magic? They would function similarly, but be runes inscribed on a piece of paper that allows complex and taxing spells to be cast nearly instantly. The healing is fine for potions though.

And this is just a minor nitpick of mine, but I see Witches/warlocks as magic users twisted into something different than mere mortals- more monstrous. I prefer the term mage over the others, but that is just mine and what I'll use.

I'll telegram you with more info on the mechanics of magic tomorrow after I sleep.

Name: Silas Blackmore

Silas is tall and slim, around 5’9 and surprisingly fit for a mage. He’s actually considered quite good looking, with black hair that reaches his shoulder blades, hawkish features (people find them more appealing on men than women for odd reasons) and bright green eyes that twinkle with mischief and arrogance behind round silver glasses

Race: Human

Faction: Merchant's Guild

Age: 29

Magic: Thaumatic

Specialized Skills: Silas is more of an elementalist mage, and ice is his specialized element...he's often using ice spells for offence and defense and while it's not the only branch of magic he knows, it's the one he's the best at. Due to his father, he also has some training with how to fight with knives.

Personality: Silas is the cockiest of the cocky shits. While he's not a supreme wizard, he's good at magic and he KNOWS it. While he is a rather good person, outgoing and very friendly, he sometimes just can't resist bragging about himself and that gets on EVERYBODY'S nerves, even his wife sometimes (mostly she just finds it amusing af these days). He's the living embodiment of the word extra, he's sooooo extra it's not even funny. Sometimes it appears that he only takes a handful of things seriously, but at the end of the day he's reliable and loyal to those he cares about. He adores his wife more than anybody and would fight you for her.

Bio: Silas was born in Acraenalon to Arus Blackmore, a retired member of the Crows and his wife, a tavern maid and daughter of a wizard. He has an older brother named Arien whom he was always close to despite their differing personalities with Silas being outgoing and bubbly while Arien was more withdrawn and shy. Silas trained under his father in the skills of an assassin, wanting both of his sons to be Crows like he once was and while the boy did the training for a while, he decided that he much preferred to become a mage instead. His maternal grandfather was more than happy to train him in the matters of spellcraft, and the boy learned quite quickly (when he wasn't flirting with girls and stirring up trouble, of course). Eventually Arien became a royal knight in service of the king, and Silas decided to go his own way without such restrictions. While researching different guilds, he decided to join the Merchant's Guild to make some cash and to be able to establish a network of connections...it was actually during one of these adventures that he met his future wife Marie (although it wasn't exactly love at first sight), after having to work with her to defeat a monster for a client. Since marriage, neither have slowed down much and has a goal to become a master wizard as he continues to make his way in the guild and around Yigros.

Equipment
-Spell Tome: Inherited from his grandfather, added on to by Silas himself
-Wand: Made of alder, used to focus spells and amplify them to increase their power (stores a small amount of energy to make casting easy in a pinch)
    - Warding Pendant: A pendant that has the ability to create a shield around its wearer
    - Set of Knives: A pair of steel knives that once belonged to Silas' father
    - Stationery set: For writing letters
    - Rucksack: To hold his equipment and money
    - Cloak: Nothing magical, just a really stylish cloak
    - Feathered hat: Again, nothing magical but it sure looks good

Additional information: (optional)

I also just edited Marie's app.

Hey all! Here is my app:

Name: Ser Konahrik Thorn

Image

Race: Human

Faction: The Lords of Ferrow

Age: 22

Magic: N

Specialized Skills: Singing, poem writing, horseback riding, swordsmen.

Personality: Flamboyant yet charming remembers his courtesies. Often overestimates his own skill and also has an obsession with flowers and fear of fire. Loves the warm weather.

Bio: Born to a wealthy family in a large city with one elder brother. As a child was obsessed with being a brave knight capable of vanquishing any foe who stood between he and his ambition. He often dueled with the other children with wooden swords (but lost almost every time) yet never felt ashamed of his failures. His father was disappointed in Konahrik's less then efficient skill in battle and enlisted a swordsmen to teach Kon how not to die giving him basic child advice like stick them with the pointy end.

His brother Alyxandro was less enthusiastic about knighthood and instead dreamed of lordship but the two Thorn children got along very well. However one day savage tribesmen attacked a carriage his family was in while Kon was training with his instructor and news reached that his family had been taken hostage. The city lord paid the ransom however Alyxandro was killed by the barbarians and his mother grief-stricken poisoned herself with a dangerous herb she found. His father returned and solemnly they buried his brother and mother beneath a bed of golden flowers.

His father however had changed pessimistic and brooding. His father feared that his anger would bring harm to Konahrik so he had a smith forge Kon a sword and a lance then sent him away. Konahrik vowed to wield the strength his family did not hold and he anointed himself "Knight of Flowers."

Equipment
- Thorn of Alyxandro (steel sword gilded in gold)
- Lance
- Heavy armor of armor gilded with flowers and colors
- Gilded flower locket

Additional information: Terrified of fire due to traumatic experience with witnessing his brother and mother sent back from the barbarians charred and burned.

Hope I didn't miss anything!

Just asking again; does this fantasy world have gunpowder or some kind of explosive element? I was just gonna make up some single shot pistols for my character to use.

For reference on Zad.

Name: Zadkiel

Image

Race: Astra

Faction: Aarkin

Age: 576

Magic: Either

Specialized Skills: Angelic Legionnaire, Astral Smite

Personality: Patient and reserved like most of his kind, Zadkiel has grown weary in his many years fighting to keep demons and other maladies at bay. Still, he harbors a fierce love for the mortals, seeing it as his duty to protect any and all he can even when most Astra would see it beneath them.

Bio: Born over half a millennium ago, Zadkiel was instrumental in thwarting the plot of the demon lord Balrael. The great fallen beast had obtained the power of the Waystone, an object of great power capable of tearing open the veil that separates Sheol from the over-world. If that would be allowed to happen, demons would surge from the pit, consuming all of Yigros before ascending to the heavens above. With a band of adventurers, Zadkiel was able to slay the monster, stopping the incursion before it could begin.

Zadkiel was hailed as a hero, serving his self-imposed penance for feeling he was responsible for releasing Balrael from his imprisonment in the first place. In the centuries since, Zadkiel has continued to serve the mortals of Yigros.

Equipment
  • Legionnaire's Cloak: A brilliantly white cloak that transforms into a pair of wings capable of channeling the power of Ether
  • Heavenly Blade: A sword forged from a silvery, nigh-unbreakable metal not found on Yigros.
  • Legionnaire's Armor: Made of the same material as the blade, the armor of the angels has been the envy of mortal smiths for millennia

Additional information: Like all Astra, has a deadly aversion to Iron. Contact will burn his skin through clothes and armor if he tries to touch it. It also rapidly drains his stored Ether, making it more difficult for him to heal afterwards. It is also one of the few things that can kill him outright via an iron blade through his "heart".

I have an idea for a character but the race would be like a spirit, and as per your request I am asking permission before apping. So can I make a character who isn't like an undead spirit but more like a being comprised of Mana.
The flag I have is an image of Bronya.

Name: William Holzmann
Image

Race: Human

Faction: Order of Aarkin

Age: 23

Magic: Rudimentary knowledge of Ether magic

Specialized Skills: Excellent archer & woodsman. Good hunting, crafting & melee skills.

Personality: Holzmann is a humble and simple person from humble and simple origins. He is bound by a strong moral code originating from his family, and constantly expanding and changing as he learns more. William knows that he knows little about life, accepting reprimands and recognizing his mistakes without much resistance, even if he is unknowingly right. Overall, Holzmann doesn't demand much, yet he is obsessed with the idea of ‘moving up in life’, and pursues anything that he views as contributing to that goal. Oftentimes, this can be quite unhealthy.

Bio:
William Holzmann of Acrænalon, was born to a humble carpenter. Though simple was the Holzman family, simpler still were William's yearnings, and his childhood contained much contentment. Many a festival and hunt went by as he learned his father's trade and played with his eldest siblings. However life as he lived it could not last forever, and shortly after his eighteenth birthday, his father perished during an ill-fated hunt. The family possessions were gathered and counted. William, the youngest, was naturally given very little. Secretly angered, and sure that he had no future in the trade, Holzmann packed up his meager belongings. With nary a coin in his purse and a bow on his back, the young man set out through the fields.
Unbeknownst to his fellows, tales of urban life had seduced William and inflated his desires, but his idealistic ideas were far from true. Upon his arrival at a coastal settlement, the eager man was not eagerly met, and finding a job was harder than he had bet. Through street and hall he scoured for a position to fill. Day and night, William fought a battle uphill. Eventually, the trail of odd-jobs and services he followed let him to the Merchant’s Guild, where he found many a well-off man in need of services. There, he offered his woodworking skills, which proved to be more profitable than he expected. For a year or so, Holzmann worked at his workshop, carving all manner of wooden goods, from great pieces of furniture to interesting devices. He was content, and staved off Poverty and Hunger, which were knocking at his door.
It then struck him that the whole purpose of moving to a town was the thrill of adventure and new experiences, not carpentry.
Holzmann once more approached the merchants, this time offering his muscle. He was sent away in several adventures, rubbing shoulders with great adventurers and foul rogues alike. He served as a messenger, bodyguard and dungeon crawler, following money, but after three years of this new lifestyle, he felt… empty. In fact, he was worn down. It was true that in the pursuit of riches, many men in the service of the Guild left morals in the sidelines, and this clashed against the rural values he had been taught all his life. Furthermore, many men he met in the trade told fantastical tales of lands far away. These desires converged in the Order of Aarkin – which oftentimes appeared as heroes and great men in the stories and rumours he heard – and drove him overseas, to the base of the Order's tower. After a probation period, William was deemed worthy of entering their ranks, and he now looks eagerly to his new career.

Equipment
  • Yew longbow - A 6 foot bow with a hemp string. Excellent for war, good for hunting.
  • Flanged Mace - Blunt, sturdy, efficient. Surprisingly good against armour.
  • Dagger w/ sheath
  • Steel Sallet
  • Canvas satchel w/ spare clothes
  • Carmine cloak - William’s most prized garment. It is embroidered with golden patterns.
  • Gambeson jacket - A large quilted jacket which protects well from both sword and cold.
  • A Horse - As of yet unnamed, provided by the Order.
  • Leather belt w/ 2 pouches
  • Mess kit & hunting trousse
  • Pair of leather gloves
  • Quiver w/ 36 arrows of varying types
  • Tinderbox
  • Waterskin
  • Wrist guard - A leather brace to protect one’s wrist from the bowstring’s twang.

The Aarkin pretty much only use Ether magic, and disavow thaumatic.

Also, I assume you want to be an Aarkin inquisitor like our other Aarkin app?

Yes indeed, I must have forgotten to change that. As for rank, Inquisitor would be quite pleasant.
