It was early in the morning as the sunlight had just broken the horizon, the blacks and blues becoming more of a haze of yellow as the sun came into sight, the wind was calm, perfect for what the fleet needed for flight operations that would be taking place. However, despite the calm, the air had an unnecessary tension. Sailing forwards was ¾ of Amerce’s Carrier power, aboard the flagship FCN Saratoga, in the main room sat a collection of men talking with hushed voices they were nervous to them what would be happening over the next few days or hours for all they knew, but the war game college was on their side but the truth was they had no clue what would happen.
On the bridge of the Saratoga, Admiral Halsey stood serving the water before him looking for something that he did not see but knew was there. As he stood there a sailor came up to him “Admiral, it would be a good time to send up the recon planes.” He stopped looking out and turned to him “Well then, tell Commander Wilson that he can send this planes up.” With that the chain of command rolled down the carrier, passing one person after another till the small scouting wing of Vought VE-7’s rolled off the deck of the Saratoga.

"They paint us as if we have lost the democratic traditions this nation was founded on, that can not, is not, further from the truth in this nation, do they not know what we went through? the 30 years of war that was started by men who did not listen to the people? This Republic will weather the storm, we will fight to the death and win, then welcome our enemies into our great state."

It was about 30 minutes later in the Voughts scouting mission that they spotted flying at an altitude of around 3,200 meters they were the forward eyes of the fleet holding a loose formation as they surveyed for any sign of the opposing fleet. The Flight Lead looked down at control panel of his VE-7 looking at the remaining fuel of the plane, before doing some quick math to figure out the time remaining, they could search at the pace they were going. Not that is really mattered if the fake enemy fleet that was out there, they would have been close by there was almost no reason for them to play the long game that would have only given the carrier force better footing to take them out. But however did not stop the scouting process to be boring, as they flew forward, but things got interesting when the number 3 of the flight called over the radio that below them 3 destroyers sailed forward in patrol.
“Contact report, 3 enemy destroyers, 90 nautical miles North-East”

First Strike
6/29/1934
7:30 AM

Admiral Collinger stood out on the bridge of the New York, looking out at the small fleet of ships he had along with the few land-based aircraft he also had. The base that was designated by the wargamers was conveniently Collinger’s own home base, with its opening facing out into the ocean where the enemy fleet was coming from. While Collingers’ view of the carrier was a support role, he knew that the aircraft would be a pain in keeping his fleet’s location known to the enemy, he was hoping that the destroyers that were scouting would be able to spot the fleet of which he would engage the enemy and sink the ships. Has he stood there, thinking over the battle to come, he knew that it would be the time to give out the order for the fleet to move out with both the carrier planes and land-based ones assisting in the battle to come.
“This is Hawk-1 we are shadowing the destroyers they look to be covering the southern 1⁄4 of the canal, patrolling, it’s unknown at this time if they detect us but if you are going to strike now would be the time.”
The attack squadron comprised of 24 SBU Corsair’s push forward their mission to sink the destroyers before they could spot the carrier fleet pushing forwards, the lead of this dual squadron strike mission was one, Jim Dale Wilson, while not as important has Doolittle was for Naval doctrine and avocation, he was a skilled pilot and knew his way around Naval aviation, which for this little war game made him for de facto leader for strike missions. As the wind wiped by the formation of aircraft Wilson looked down on his lap the small chart holding the markings of where the destroyers were spotted and their route up until the Recon craft needed to break off for fuel. He looked back up out onto the open skies and seas the idea of 24 Corsairs attacking 3 destroyers sat unwell with him but if the larger strike were to happen then this plan would need to be carried out.
The timing on finishing this thought could not have come better or worst, the destroyers were spotted and it now was a do or “die”. He radioed to the other aircraft in the attack that the destroyers were spotted and now was the time to attack. So the aircraft began to make their dive picking up speed, their altitude slowly but soon quickly lowering. As the dive was being made Wilson looked to the destroyers seeing their reaction and by that where they would be going to make sure his bomb lined up on target on the middle ship of the three. Which given by the delayed reaction of the ships and the speed they were now coming in it would be a perfect bomb drop and right on target. He began to count getting the sight lined up on the ship, 3, 2, 1, release. Pulling back on the flight stick to get up and away from the destroyers to not get shot down he looked back. Waiting to see if the bombs and sunk the ships, he was happy to see all three change course two pulling south to the shore and one north if he had to guess, two destroyed and one badly damaged but he would need to wait till the carrier to know for sure, where the Wargame masters would tell the success of the strike.

Open Waters

Collinger stood in the map room with the other captains of the battle group he had, they were discussing the plan of action for this engagement, how they were going to lure the carriers into a trap and sink them. When an aid came in “one of our destroyer portals was hit by aircraft, two were sunk and the other was badly damaged in the attack.”
Collinger was caught off guard by this news he knew the carriers had better distance in striking power but this a strike was almost if they wanted to get sunk by the battleships and by that regard hand him the game, but he was going to get overconfident he put a lot into keeping battleship the pride of the fleet he would not burn that bridge, the carriers pulling this move meant that he would be in better range with his battleships, he only needed to worry about being spotted so if he could stop the aircraft from spotting him that would give him the range he needed and the win, with that thought he put his hand up quieting the room.
“No matter this is still our game, make ready the fleet we sail out now.”
One of the other captains looked at him “and what of the carrier? What role do you want to give it?” Collinger turned “Have it gets its aircraft up, and to work with the land-based craft to cover our ships.”

The mood on the Carrier groups War Room was a satisfactory one there still worked and they now had mostly open water to the battleships and victory for them. However there was a problem the carrier group did not fully know where the ships were they could very easily run into the battleships us on the open seas which would be bad given that is the last thing the carriers wanted they needed range to stay safe but if they were too far then their planes could not reach the ships. So a plan was made a small force of ships would sail ahead they would watch for the battleships while planes would be sent out behind and to the sides in case of a flank, there the men hoped this would cover the based and keep them safe.

Trouble on the water
4/29/1934
1:23-5:32

Collinger fleet sailed forwards in the open waters having left the port they were in a couple of hours ago, their search had primarily been unsuccessful with no signs of enemy planes or ships anywhere. It was now the afternoon of the first day, and Collinger did not like this but time was on his side, the carriers need to sink him, and he needed to sink them, the carriers had to face him. Otherwise, they would lose the war game. Just then, the spotters called it out a group of enemy ships just off in the distance; they were not the carriers, but they were of the enemies none the less, and they would work for revenge against the three destroyers lost earlier in the day.

Order was clear all ships to engage and sink them quickly before they are able to fire back and sink them, and so the ships began to trade shots the few destroyers and two cruisers trying their best to avoid the incoming shots and hit back, it was, however, little the number of ships and the range they were at made it clear the game masters that the screening force was done for. So the ships were sent back to port having been destroyed in the small engagement, Collinger was proud revenge for the earlier days attack had been dealt, and the more important task of finding the carriers could be done, which he hoped that the planes he had up in the air could do this.

The Carrier group was in a bad spot the forward screening force was too far forward to cover them, all they had to rely on now was the ¾ dozen ships and the Combat Air Patrol covering them in the air the screening force was their forward eyes and if something were to slip in it would be very bad for the group of ships, very much if the battleships were in between them. However, the concern was not the battleships at this time, but a large group of aircraft coming down on the carriers, both Carrier-based and land-based bombers. This was not good for the admirals in charge of the carriers given there were advocating for Airpower, and the Carrier has a whole.

The Combat Air Patrol moved to intercept the large force of aircraft bearing down on the carriers they would leave alone the bombers it was likely that the bombers would miss, and they would not need to worry about them, but the “small” group of dive bombers and Torpedo bombers bearing down on the ships has a whole would be the focus, of which it became a very big mess of aircraft with fighters getting shot down and payloads getting released. But they had weathered the attack the strike from the aircraft was largely ineffective on the ships there were shot down aircraft and ships and taken light hits but all the bombs and torpedoes had missed their marks. But in all this action, a bigger problem came out the battleships were in range and now closing quickly on the carrier group and be within range soon, and with no strike aircraft up, it seemed like the carriers would soon meet the end.

To say there was no panic within the carriers is a lie, the battleships were a lot closer to the carriers then they thought. So much so that the carriers were minutes away from being in range of the battleships and given that the battleships had now seen it time to disregard the screening force and strike the carriers it would only be a matter of time before this wargame ended with a battleship victory, so there was only one option with no planes to strike and the range they were at the carriers pulled hard around and began to run. That was their main focus get as much distance between them and the battleships to buy time for a strike, there was a small problem out of the three carriers in the battle group the slowest of the three, the Langley, while ideally, they wanted all three carriers intact by the end of the wargame, however, they would try, they would indeed try to keep them all, so the order was given for the Langley to push forward has fast has it can to keep up with the other two carriers at all cost and to outrun the battleships, this pushed the carriers engine to the max of what it could do for the minutes it was running this speed but the plan was working they were pulling away from the battleships the distance between the two groups was climbing, but it was taking a toll on the carrier and if the engine broke the order was clear all aircraft were to strike the battleship group and take has many ships with them, do has much damage they could, thankfully the battleships broke off not being able to catch up to the carriers, and not wanting to break their own engines and slowed down, but he was hopeful that they scared off the carriers and that this could be seen a victory for his side.

Endgame
6/28/1934
9:28 AM

Most of the evening had been a debate between the commanders of the carrier force over the next course of action their plan had been while not derailed had been thrown around. And while there was no time limit to the wargame, it was clear if the carriers could break though the battleships, they would have lost, their mission of making there way pass the warships failed and a victory for Collinger and his group of like-minded individuals. So the night was spent figuring out the next plan of action and buying a bit of time to enact it. The plan was early in the morning before sunrise they would launch all aircraft, torpedo bombers, dive bombers, then fighters. The mission to all of them was clear overwhelm the enemy ships, with the main targets being the Battleships and the carriers proving that a carriers’ strike wing can overcome a battleship’s defenses and sink it.

As dawn broke over the battleship contingent patrolling the waters looking for carriers hoping to sink then once and for all ending this wargame, then has the ships were sailing the sounds of aircraft engines came quiet at first but then louder has all of a sudden as close to 200 aircraft came bearing down on the small fleet of ships, despite the number of guns and the dodging ability of the boats the sheer number of aircraft was too much for the ships to dodge and despite “shooting” down a fair amount of aircraft it was apparent to all those involved that the damage was done and that most if not all of the Battleships had some form of damage and that the carrier was sunk.
"This nation has the means to end this war in a definitive and elegant manner, we seek not destruction and conflict but a balance of power and restoration to peace, and it will be done with reason and justice from beginning to end, and the world will be grateful, only then will they see the way to true peace."

July 1st 1934
Alten Stadtschloss
Alten-Lindenstadt
11:03

Kaiser Martin sat at his dining room table, servants bustled around him, "The morning paper sir," the head butler, Bernhard Schumann, said handing the paper to the Emperor.
Martin sipped some coffee from his cup and read over the paper. There was news of Amercian wargames, opinion of the attack in Nator, and other boring stories. In other words there was no news.
A servant, still wearing his hat and coat, ran up to Bernhard and handed him an sealed letter before bowing and walking away.
"A telegram has arrived from Jutland," Bernard said with a matter of fact tone, "from the King's Palace in Copenhagen."
Kaiser Martin drank some more coffee and finished reading the article on the wargames before opening the telegram.

Friedrich is dead. Cancer. Gustin in line.

The Kaiser's eyes lit up, this was news indeed, "Bernhard, fetch me the Imperial Parchment," Martin ordered.
The Butler quickly returned with the paper and a pen. Where Kaiser Martin wrote

I, Kaiser Martin Scherwinburg II King of Austria-Lombardy, hereby declare a stop to all presses within the Holy Caesii Empire and the Kingdom of Lombardy. All articles to be published will be reviewed by my government before publication. Any and all articles referring to King Friedrich Karl von Hohenzollern shall be removed and replaced with the governmental article instead until July 10th 1934 Anno Lucis.

Martin handed the decree to Bernhard saying, "Get this order out to the 8th army and to the rest of the military. Furthermore have an official obituary be written for me to read this afternoon. Also inform Goldritter that his cousin is dead just in case Jutland has not."

The lions den.

Postby Nator State » Tue Dec 03, 2019 6:59 pm

July 3rd 1934 1740

"I own the Nator State National Zoo, our gorilla exhibit opens in two days however the gorilla has died in rout to the zoo. A replacement gorilla will arrive in nine days. Postponing the grand opening of our gorilla exhibit would be at a huge loss. Your an actor. I bought a gorilla suit. Having one act out the gorilla role until the replacement gorilla arrives on [date] is the only alternative to canceling the grand opening." Proposed Mr. Sebastian Boar to Bill Armbruster.

July 5th 1934 1200

Armbruster sat in a cage wearing a gorilla suit scared to move lest he reveal the stitching in the costume. He visual observed the medium size tree in the pen and the lion exhibit sharing a border with his cage. This cage consisted of medal bars that would be sufficient to hold a gorilla or lion but a human might be able to fit threw if they tried especially if they were a female or a child. Eventually he succumbed to boredom and began to pace around the cage. The actor noticed increased interest from his audience as more spectators drew near to the bars of the cage migrating from the loin exhibit adjacent to the 'gorilla' pen. Bill Armbruster being an actor craved attention. He began doing handstands and somersaults attracting the attention of more and more zoo going people to his exhibit. While Swinging from the branches of the tree in the center of the pen has hands slipped and he went flying threw the bars of his pen into the adjacent pen reserved for the king of the jungle. The actor recovered then horrified discovered himself in the wrong cage. Panicked he tried to squeeze back threw the bars but was unable. The lion sat up from the grass he had been laying in and began to walk towards the 'gorilla'. The actor yelled "help, please help!" as the lion got closer. When the lion was nearly on top of him it opened its mouth.

"Shut up, you will give us all away." whispered the lion.

Official Letter

From the U.S Department of State

John Kearns
Secretary of State
1800 Colorado Avenue
Engleton, PA 27654

4 July 1934

His Majesty, La Vasiliás
Monarch Qentaïn Jiurdaine II
Head of State, La Vasilirea D'Ausfonaïle
Coralios, Ausfon

To His Majesty, Monarch Qentaïn Jiurdaine II of Ausfon;

I hope this letter finds yourself and your nation in good health. I write to you to request on behalf of the United States, to be permitted to join the Entente formally.

I believe that the entente, with the membership of the United States, will be in a more significant and dominant position on the international geopolitical level than without. The United States can allow the entente a greater level of access to the Pacific Ocean which may further cement the continent from further invasion from the east, and repel said invaders. Furthermore, the United States offers a significant supply of oil, across the union. The United States may also offer a significant economy in which to supply the entente, especially with foodstuffs grown in the heartlands of Palma and Kalinea, and the ranches that raise cattle and other livestock throughout the union.

The United States, despite the rising prominence of industry, would still to conduct plentiful trade to modernize and develop its economy and infrastructure. The United States would, without hesitation, trade oil and foodstuffs to the entente, in exchange for purchasing machinery, industrial equipment, and other goods to complete the development of the United States. The U.S would also be willing to purchase unwanted military hardware (tanks, aircraft, warships) to modernize and manufacture for U.S utilization.

It is with sincere hope that you consider this extended inquiry thoughtfully. I eagerly await your response.

Yours;

John Kearns, Secretary of State.

Elegance Beauty
7/9/1934

It was mid-afternoon in one of the few war colleges in Amerce, the forefront of development for the military doctrine to be put in place by Amerce, in one of the classrooms a young but smart General by the name of General Mattew Torres was teaching about the essential uses of Artillery. “It’s important to understand the beauty and elegance of artillery, as any study of the Great War would tell you this, the Holy Caseii Empire and Ausfon used this weapon to great effect on each other. Suppressing each other for weeks on end before launching all-out attacks on each other, and while the Caseii Empire was able to find a way to break the idea of trench defense to some minor degree. It would be important to note still the power of the artillery gun has been a statement that will continue to be an important tool throughout history and warfare.” pausing for a second to let them take it in, he continued. "So use your imagination when it comes to the battlefield, do not be afraid to experiment with it, to use it aggressively to strike down the enemy you face. There is no shame in that, the men under you, their lives mean something, so let that guide your actions to protect them and take them to victory.

Sonacism in the NPF

Postby Cotour » Sun Dec 08, 2019 12:23 am

7/12/34

Sonacist influence has been increasing over the past year, as Shinguo has been influencing the politics of the NPF. This has grown Tiangdu and the NPF closer as officials are pressured into working with the sonacists. Referendums have also been affected, as propaganda is spread in large villages and cities, attempting to convince people. While some are concerned about the spread of sonacism and foreign influence from Shinguo, many are constantly exposed to sonacist influence, making it more accepted. Some have attempted to fight back, but have been silenced. Many officials have been subject to blackmailing and bribery. While some have attempted to do away with these threats, their opponents have plenty of resources, and are well hidden. Many have realized they have nothing they can do besides admit defeat.

The sonacists are hoping to gain a majority in the upcoming election, seeing as they’ve already moved the NPF towards Shinguo and Tiangdu rather than the MHD. They hope to see great gains, and to gain enough power to take control of the nation to turn it to see the light of sonacism. There are already plans for uniting with Tiangdu with a joint government which the sonacist party has drawn up with the help of Shinguo. The effectiveness of this propaganda from Shinguo and Tiangdu seems to be extremely high, meaning many bolder measures are being taken in order to seize more power. While this may result in great gains, it is a risk, but a risk worth taking to ensure a sonacist future.

The leaders of the sonacist party, Wang Jingwei, Zhou Enlai, and Hu Hanmin, have all approved of these measures, and suggest going further. They argue that the next election is essential, as it is likely the civil war will begin again. They say it must be ensured that the NPF will be sonacist, and therefore joined with Tiangdu. Some ideas are radical and dangerous, but could provide great benefits for the sonacist party. They plan to hold many meetings to discuss possible courses of action to best ensure their victory.
"A revolution is not a dinner party, or writing an essay, or painting a picture, or doing embroidery. It cannot be so refined, so leisurely and gentle, so temperate, kind, courteous, restrained and magnanimous. A revolution is an insurrection, an act of violence by which one class overthrows another." ~ Mao Zedong

July 10th 1934
Amalienburg
Copenhagen, Jutland
14:12

Light shined through the stain glass mirror onto the open coffin of Friedrich Karl von Hohenzollern. Some official was speaking about the former King. Kaiser Martin remembered the first time he had met the man. It was the late 80s shortly before Martin’s grandfather, his namesake died, before the Unification War. Perhaps it was just childhood memories, Martin was only 6 at the time, but Friedrich seemed happy then. After the death of Kaiser Martin I and the following Unification war the man was always grumpy. Losing a war would do that to a man, but he had always seemed irritated at Martin himself. His electors certainly did not vote for me Martin thought recalling his election.

Kaiser Martin smiled, despite these hard tensions, Friedrich has done well both for Jutland and for Hohenberg. Kaiser Martin remembered serving alongside Friedrich’s son, Gustin Wilhelm, while Martin was a Oberstleutnant in the Großkrieg. Despite all the anger, Friedrich stayed loyal to his people and family.

Kaiser Wolfgang von Hohenzollern XII shifted his body restlessly, placing his hand on the cumbersomely long rapier ornamenting his side. He gazed with a mild contempt upon the extravagant coffin that Friedrich laid in.

”Grumpy old knave, even in death does he look so bitter.” Wolfgang thought to himself

To say the relationship between Friedrich and Wolfgang was complicated would be a complete understatement. The two showed great hostility towards each other throughout the years, with insults being hurled from both sides. Friedrich once saying “Wolfgang’s immeasurably exaggerated self-confidence and brash desire to show off highlights the true annoyance and pettiness of his character.” Wolfgang was recorded firing back by calling the king “an incompetent senile old turkey who lost his purpose long ago.” Though these two barely respected each other, it was clear that blood was thicker than water; the two had a semblance of civility around each other and were sometimes capable of creating merriment.

“There is no greater sin than to defy the anointed servant of the Lord and this bitter old man surely did that!” The Kaiser continued to think negatively about the dead man but something changed. His heart softened and he started to think about the good this old king caused. He still didn’t like him, but the old man had gained his respect. A truly impressive feat for sure…

Pope Caelestinus XI rose from his chair and walked to altar where he read from the Book of Paul. He read of the story of Maidalis sorrow after her husband and adoptive father to Ashur, Jacob, died. “Maidalis was filled with doubt in her abilities. Ashur was still young and she felt alone. She became absorbed in raising the Son and left no time for family or for friends. When after taking a nap, she could not find Ashur, Maidalis panicked. She screamed for Ashur to return to her, and when she finally found the Son he was playing with Peter the Apostle. Maidalis yelled at Peter for kidnapping the Son, yet it was Ashur himself who defended the man saying, “No human works alone, no human lives alone. Though life is fleeting through the grace of God nobody is ever truly alone. The word of the Lord.”

“Praise be to God,” the church responded.

U.S Navy Adopts New Naming Conventions

Image

The U.S.S Capeton, now renamed the U.S.S Kalinea, leads the Navy’s fleet of 3 Destroyers

12 July, 1934

The United States Navy had adopted a new naming convention for warships in U.S Service. To clarify naming conventions created in the 1911 Naval Identification Act, ship classes will be named after individual states in the Union, and ships within said classes will be named after cities, landmarks, and persons that are located in or have resided in, historically and currently. These changes in naming policy will not affect non-combat vessels, such as cargo, transport, and hospital ships in the service of the U.S Navy. The serial numbers and other identifications for naval vessels have not been altered by this change in policy by the Department of the Navy.

The U.S.S Capeton, formerly the first ship of the Capeton Class of Destroyers, was renamed the U.S.S Kalinea, and was redesignated as a Kalinea Class Destroyer. The two sister ships of the U.S.S Kalinea were also renamed, to the U.S.S Martleburgh and the U.S.S Reseda, respectively. The Kalinea Class was named in honor of the U.S State of Kalinea, and the two sister ships of the class were named after the cities of Martleburgh and Reseda, respectively. Upon the expansion of the class with the addition of future ships, said ships will be named after cities, landmarks, and famous persons that the state has hosted, or currently hosts in the modern era.

Washington, Amerce

It was midday in the Amerce Capital in Washington, sitting at his deck ambassador Edwards was working on some paperwork, things had been picking up in the foreign relations office of Amerce, the large upcoming deal that would be made over Western Kykia. While Edwards placement dealt with Western Kyria, he still needed to deal with some of the ramifications of this deal and needed to be at least up to date should some nation over there, find a problem with it. But thankfully he could not see a problem the document that would cause an uproar in Western Kyria, but he did not envy those in the Kykia department they must be tearing out their hair given the amount work that was needing to be done. Has he sat there reading over the paper writing down notes over it to tell his staffers making stuff not to miss anything that would be important to know, but this was a trying process, which did cause him to stop and rubbed his eyes. As he did a knock on his door looking up, it opened revealing one of his personal aids. “Edward, the Amaurita Ambassador is here and would like to speak with you.” Edwards was confused, why was he here, there was not a meeting he missed was there? “Weird, I don’t remember a meeting, but I could use a break from this, send him in please.” Edwards spoke out while motioning for the sid to send him in.

William Favours, the U.S Ambassador to Amerce, entered the Amerceian Ambassador’s office. Walking swiftly towards the ambassador’s desk, and warmly offered a firm handshake. ”Ambassador Edwards,” Favours began, ”I’ve been looking forward to meeting with you.

Ambassador Edwards stood from his desk, and accepted the handshake from his Amauritan counterpart, and acknowledged the Amauritan. ”Ambassador Favours, the pleasure is all mine.” Still standing, Edwards questioned the Amauritan. “So, what may I do for you?”Edwards motioned for the Amauritan to have a seat at his desk while returning to the comfort of his own chair.

Ambassador Favours took his seat and removed his spectacles from the inner pocket of his suit. As he placed the spectacles onto his face, he began. ”Ambassador, I’ve brought myself here today to begin discussions in regard to the future relations between our respective nations. I believe building a strong and meaningful bond between the United States and Amerce can strongly benefit both of our societies.”

Edwards briefly looked down at the pieces of paper over the developments on Amerce’s home continent and gave a small laugh, oh how things work out in the end. “Well, that is an ask, but something that I’m sure we can come to an agreement on, but if you don’t mind, why us? Not to say I am annoyed with this but are their not thoses closer to you, why come halfway across the world, would not the HCP or the Entente be a better pick then us?”

Favours played with the inquiry in his mind for a few moments, then delivered his answer. “Sir, our societies are not that different, despite being half a world away. Our societies are capable of tracing both our lineages to the Evestish settlers who settled and conquered the land all those centuries ago, establishing colonies caught between the vast oceans and deep, unexplored wilderness beyond. Society in Amaurita and Amerce strike to preserve the principles of the republican form of government, uphold the natural rights given to all citizens at birth by a common Creator, and therefore serve as a shining example for the world to see. So overall, they’re not that different, Amaurita and Amerce, which makes it so there is no reason why they should not have excellent relations.”

Edwards was happy to hear something like that, to him it meant either of two things he had done his job well or that Amerce was a great place to be “Well, I’m glad to hear that, what would you like to get started with a trade deal, assistance?” Edwards motioned over to Favours waiting for a reply.

“Absolutely,” Ambassador Favours responded politely. “The United States has an expanding industrial base, and a well established agricultural industry. So in exchange for purchasing machinery to help expand our industrial capacity, I can assure you that the United States will be happy to sell industrial products at a discounted rate, especially in regards to petroleum drilled and refined in the United States. And in regards to assistance, the United States would be willing to purchase unwanted military assets to assist in the expansion of the U.S Military. Any form of small arms, land as well as aerial vehicles, and naval vessels would be considered.”

Edwards thought this over in his mind, and tried to keep an open mind over this on one end it did seem like Favours and if he had to guess the greater Amauritan government were aware of their position and admitting to some degree that they were in a weaker state then they wanted to be. The other hand was that they were simply seeking to improve there standing and be more self-sufficient, but it was not his place to judge something like this simply to a relations manager when it came to stuff like this, and be a judge to deals and what not to given by other nations before passing it on to others higher up. Satisfied with his line of thought he answered back. “What you propose sounds like a fair deal while I can not give promise to the military equipment the others sound like a fair deal, I will simply need to take this up with a few others before it can happen, I see no problem with it.”

“Wonderful,” Favours beamed. “Beyond trade and such, is there anything you suggest to bolster relations between the United States and Amerce? I’m all ears.”

“At this time I can’t think of anything else to talk about between our two nations.” Edwards replied.

“Very well,” Favours answered. Standing up, he extended his hand to Edwards. “It’s been a pleasure chatting with you. I hope to see you soon. Not too soon though.”

Thoughtful Intervention
July 29, 1934, 2:30 PM
Amerce War Department Building(Close door meeting)

This was an important meeting with much of the room taken up with both High ranking members of the military and high ranking members of the Government sitting in on it, in total some 20 people were in one room. The topic was ambassador Edwards meeting with his counter-part from Amaurita, Ambassador Williams some seven days ago.

“So oil for Industrial and Military support seems like a fair deal. Was there anything else of note that was brought up in the meeting?” Alan Shepard the president of Amerce spoke: “Anything at all on to why he would be told to push this?”

“No, I did ask him that question and the reply I have gotten was over a shared heritage and republican values in our governments.” Edwards replied back quickly and nervously given the amount of powerful Amerceian people in the room.

“Well given our own plans this is something to note along with the fact we very give counterbalance to the Shinguo influence that has been rising in that area, Amarurita could very well be a good stepping stone for military action in that area. So it would not be unreasonable for us want to invest in them.” One of the senior military generals answered back “This could be a worthwhile investment for us to make.”

“But how long do we need to wait before that investment makes good? We all have seen the reports 3 was it? Active combat ships along with less than 150 capable combat aircraft. It will take many years and what happens if they back out due to a government change? We can’t just support them blindly.” Another general from down the table leaned out to say. “Now granted they look to be doing that, but we can’t just prop them up we need to think smart about it, they need to be building up there military not us.”

“Back onto the other point, we were given that being their own industry, does anyone have something to say about that, because I don’t want this to seem like we are trying to build up some military state if we are going to do this I want this to be a deal that works for all parts of Amarurita’s industry, not just the military and benefits us too.” The president stated turning back to face the Ambassador who was still standing there “Ambassador Edwards, I want you to continue working with the Amauritans over this and get this moved along.”
"This nation has the means to end this war in a definitive and elegant manner, we seek not destruction and conflict but a balance of power and restoration to peace, and it will be done with reason and justice from beginning to end, and the world will be grateful, only then will they see the way to true peace."

A Recap of the Events between Feburary 4th and July 29th

Postby Sobeiska » Sat Dec 14, 2019 3:09 pm

Notes for this Year's Book of Knowledge

Professor Abeleburg

February - a tragedy

7th - The ruling coalition and opposition have universally given condolences even the Nativist parties had great respect for the Prophet, who sought not to by force, or deprivation but rather charity and good deed spread Morgigism. The Reichstag agreed that the funeral would take place on February 14th

10th - Hitler, leader of the Frommenationalewiederherstellungspartei, gave a rather empathic speech blaming the Cautra Union for the death of the Prophet, my aide took a rather pertinent section of it down.

"My Morgigite brothers and sisters! Our Recusant brothers at-large! I believe this to truly to be one of the most disheartening moments in our history. I believe this to be no less painful than the death of Josef Schimdt himself must have been to our ancestral brothers and sisters. But I must sadly, pain your hearts once more, our providence once more must pull itself to face the darkness. He began in a vicious tone. The heathenous beasts, the subhuman swine which cheats and steals and rapes among its own kind, to our north has taken our glorious prophet from us. The crowd roars viciously and Hitler lightly lifts his palm and waits for them to calm The fiendish demons of the Cautra Union have struck the same chord Lucifer struck with our Heavenly Father, they have fallen from our graces and shall plummet to face our hellfire!

Do you hear of the treatment of our brothers and sisters in this so called union? Have you? No because it is not a story the liberals wished to tell you, it is not a story the heathens who still live in our country, who harbor such disgusting red ideologies as communism, would wish to tell you! These pigs have as much right to live as any common pest. Perhaps their children can be saved but none are free of sin, and especially those of that destitute, unrepentant, unrecusant, hellbent nation!

For so long I have warned you, I have watched calmly, I have peacefully asked in the Reichstag we position ourselves, to prepare ourselves, to protect ourselves. But no! Now our Prophet is dead because of those liberals, those communists, those socialists! But alas, now my brothers you must feel as I do, in step, in heart, and soul that the only way this world shall be freed of this sick demonology of religious relativity, this sick cruelty of want-on capitalism, and the Luciferian materialism of communism is through the acceptance of Recusantdom in every corner, every crevice, and every heart in this world!

It is our duty, is is our heaven-sent purpose to ensure this world be saved from sin, that we evangelize and truly restore the promise of Caesii upon earth. This is what Heavenly Father promised! This is what the heathens have feared! No more will we turn our better cheek, no longer will we be forced to reason, we are absolute truth and our authority is absolute.

We are the end-times, we will purify this planet, and it shall be borne anew!"

Feburary 14th - There is much infighting in the parliament even within the ruling government, it seems Hanenburg was the keystone stopping all from falling in, a new Reichskanzler is unlikely. The Heilige Luft Journal speaks of potential for a worrying political future characterized by violence as multiple paramilitary groups have become prominent: The Rotehemden for the FNWSP; the Rotfront for the People’s Party; and the Drei Wimpern among the combined liberal forces.

February 17th - Failing the formation of a new government, the parliament agreed to dissolve itself agreeing upon an MP from Rosenkranzes symbolically to become Reichskanzler to dissolve it. The election was set for June 25th

March - The nation entered a sense of frenzy, from wall to wall in every major town were political posters and it seemed the more radical factions were striking twice above their weight

April - Much of the same continued with increased clashes between the paramilitaries, Hitler continued to hammer his point on Cautra and expand the cloud of blame far over his opposition

May - Hitler managed to curry support from the Demokratische Recusantische Union’s more conservative factions greatly increasing the threat of a potential government and enlarging his base. [Do not report] Backroom talks leaked with its leader Alfred Essenburg seemed to ensure this

June - The fateful month of the election, and perhaps the end of the Old Orden

June 25th - At last election day arrived, and it seemed perhaps in the hearts of every radical, every stalwart ideologue the hope of their victory day. But perhaps none was stronger than in that of Hitler himself, who promised to his followers bullishly “a total and utter victory”.

This perhaps, was not entirely a blind promise as there were mass reports of the FNWSP paramilitary, the “Redshirts” restricting poll access in poor native areas and threatening violence to those who did not vote for the FNWSP or DRU.

June 30th - Tenative results indicate the FNWSPi is projected to have a massive victory; the Liberals are upset; the Recusant DRU makes gains; and the Nativist Party loses ground as the People’s Party gains.

July - A triumph for the radical

July 14th -The New Reichstag meets: the Frommenationalewiederherstellungs-partei controls 80 seats, the Volkspartei controls 23 seats, the Liberaldemokraten control 30 seats, the Demokratische Recusantische Union (DRU) controls 56 seats, The Nativistische Partei controls 6 seats, and Independents control 5 seats. They begin proceedings and attempt to elect a new Prime Minister, though deals fail for the day before fights break out in the parliament between the factions.

July 15th - A government is struck between the FNWSP and DRU with Hitler as Reichskanzler, as the chamber goes about calling roll with each vote a roar rises out of the liberals and communists as they realize they’ve lost and fighting ensues in the parliament, but this time the police line the walls and they are carried out in handcuffs with Hitler victorious.

July 18th - The new Reichskanzler Hitler gave yet another emphatic speech victoriously to a roaring crowd, it seems the old times are over. He seeks a return to the old absolutive government of Josef Schimdt, or so he claims, a true theocratic monarchy.

Above all he speaks of it being a time for the nation to find new allies, not just in the old world, but in the east as well.

August 1st 1934
Imperial Diplomatic Corp Office
Alten-Lidenstadt

Knock, Knock!
Johannes Wessely, head of the Western Kyria Department, looked up from his paperwork saying, "Come in,"
A young lady opened the door, "Ambassador Atam Giragosian, from Hyak wishes to speak with you," she said.

Johannes stopped what he was doing and cleared his desk, "let him in," he replied while thinking, Did he come to a decision regarding my proposal?

The ambassador entered, he was an older man, above 50, with a long graying beard. He wore a black cap on his head that signified that he was apart of a small religious community called the Jews. Though that community itself was small even in Hyak. Johannes liked the man, just the thought of another group reaching a monotheistic religion independently certainly was proof of God's existence.

Atam took a seat across from Johannes, "Hyak is a small nation, with many potential enemies. Kurgan, our former rulers, Amaurita, a nation of foreigners that pushed east, and Cezarium a dying empire. We wish only to maintain ourselves and our culture. As such I am here to tell you that our Government has approved the defensive pact. While we aren't strong enough to help should someone challenge you, we appreciate the thoughtfulness that the Caesii Empire has shown us."

"That is great news," Johannes replied, "I will inform the Kaiser immediately, expect a call from the military."

The Trans-Sagarian Pact against Amercian Aggression

Heilige Luft
The National Temple
August 2nd, 1934

Hitler and one of his closest allies, Vans Michael Hammacher, his chief diplomat, were slated to greet the Emperor of Shinguo. The location might be considered untasteful not knowing the great curia Hitler had gained among the religious community for his faith-charged rhetoric, many might well know this could be his future abode. All about the room was angelic imagery, conquering and triumphant, and above all was the heavenly imagery of Josef Schimdt’s ascension which struck quite deeply with Hitler’s desire.

The emperor entered the room in extravagant dress, not followed by a second with total confidence. He sat down at the large round table, falling into the intricately designed chair. Hitler locked eyes with the man and politely greeted His Majesty. The Emperor did likewise to the Reichskanzler.

Hitler began to speak: “We both equally know why we are here. There is but one threat to our common existence in this world, and one true threat to all Recusantry, and that is the heathenous commonality of Amerce, the detestable abomination threatens to blacken more of the world with the smut of its so called-“Primus”, the only thing “first” about this nation must be its dissolution, and I hope together we can ensure nothing but that happens. That’s why I believe we must stand commonly against them.”

The Emperor responded in their divine chorus: “We have common adversaries that exist beyond our borders that require us signing this pact. The nuance of which is clear that state is a geopolitical threat to both Yunna and Shinguo. I will sign this pact and request my parliaments, as head of state to sign this bill. I believe that it is essential to keep our partnership with your den Orden der Meridiane, and you likewise to our Shinguo.”

Hammacher looked up at them, and resolved their chord, “If there are no objections my Reichskanzler, and Majesty, then please do sign your honorable names upon these lines”

Hitler halted him: “Perhaps there is another issue that must be amended, I believe the combined technological expertise of our nations is critical to our military success”

The Emperor gazed up at him “Do continue Reichskanzler”

Hitler: “I propose total technological cooperation, free licensing in all things, and the future framework for agreement upon production deals as well on a quid pro quo basis”

Emperor: “I see… our military has been quite interested in acquiring more of your tanks though this could be a hard sell in my parliaments. Let’s consider this in the pact then.”

Hitler: “We ought to amend the deal to honor these things then”

Hammacher was furiously writing the amendments onto another sheet with his quill pen, “Should these be fine gentlemen?” he inquired

Hitler and the Emperor both agreed with mutual appreciation inside.

Both men smiled at each other as first Hitler signed, then Emperor Modu Tianci. Hammacher slid them the addendum with the amendments and again they scrawled their names down. They stood and bowed to one each other, then the Emperor modestly turned and stepped out of the room giving Hitler one last look before closing the gold-trimmed door.

Hitler looked to Hammacher holding his composure before lighting up in a righteous glee and thanked Heavenly Father for his fortune.

PCONPIE
The Pact of Cooperating Organized National Petroleum Intercontinental Exporters

Heilige Luft
Diplomatic Room of the Presidential Palace
August 5th, 1934

Image

The pact between Shinguo and Den Orden still left some questions unanswered, most specifically the oil one. On the combined urging of Emperor Modu Tianci and the former Reichskanzler von Hanenburg another meeting was to be in order

The repurposed banquet hall was full of diplomats from the nations of Shinguo, Nator, and of course Den Orden. However there was another addition, Shinguo had brought with them a delegation from the internationally unrecognized Nanjing People's Federation, which also had come to parley.

The hall was fussy with a great amount of pleasant but conflicting aromas of food going about as Vans Michael Hammacher began to clang his glass.

“Gentlemen, I think it is time we got down to speaking” he officially spouted, mildly inflicted with bibacity.

“First, I would like to again toast to the memory of von Hanenburg, who without we would not be so promptly having this meeting right now, his legacy shall live in this organization and the economic independence and freedom of every nation here. It is a righteous and good thing we are doing today!”

“Secondly, I know though not all of us here recognize Nanjing, we need to understand the matter at hand, it’s oil, and our control of it, if we’re going to ensure continued prosperity from this economic pursuit we will have to cooperative our exports to ensure an effective pricing.”

“Think of this as an investment in our nation’s economic security, there may be bigger oil sharks than us in the world, but together we’re quite significant and we will not be bullied certainly!”

Objections rattled across the room about the mechanisms of the organization, most specifically to the power of Nanjing within it, their status certainly was not established in the room and thus a conclusion was marked about their status in the organization.

The organization would have an assembly known as the PCONPIE Conference with 10 diplomats from each nation which would report decisions to the PCONPIE Board of Governors consisting of a member from each nation with Nanjing having a non-voting constituent, headed by the PCONPIE Secretary-General which would head both assemblies and have power to call emergency meetings. This secretary-generalship would shift to each nation, Nanjing not to be included within that, on an annual basis, Nator would have the first Secretary-Generalship.

As each delegation came by to sign its place on the document, it’s clear those from the Nanjing People's Federation were not happy with the result and were tense with those from Shinguo.

However at least, PCONPIE would be a political force multiplier and the world and crossing it would truly come at economic peril.

August 8th 1934 1300
"mam" flight lieutenant Matfey Keelan turned his back on Colonel Darla Jonson then sat down on top of his desk picked his legs up swung them around to the other side of this desk and sat up Infront of the shipmaster. There was room to side step around the desk in the office but this was the fastest way traverse the office.

"Going over receipts in preparation for the inspector general inspection of the ship in three days. I'll read them out while you over look them."
"Yes mam"

"K11 Spiritual Fitness book, case of 150, five of"

"Check"

"K10 Tactical Rosary beads, 100 of"

"Check"

"K9 offet, one of"

"Quoi?"

"Offet, one," repeated Jonson. "Well, why are you looking thunderstruck? This is the chaplain’s office. You're the ships chaplain. You know what's supposed to be in the chaplain’s office, don't you? Where's this offet?"

"Never heard of it" stated Keelan flatly.

"You must have. It's on this equipment recite in plain, clear type. Offet, one, it says. It was here when we were fitted-out four years ago. We checked it ourselves and signed for it."

"I signed for no such thing called offet," Keelan denied. "In the Recusant practice there is no such thing."

"Look!" Jonson scowled and showed him the recite.

Keelan looked and sniffed disdainfully. "I have here the monstrance kit, one of, kiddie pool and Spiritual Fitness books. "I have the 100 Rosary beads but no offet. Never heard of it. I do not know of what it is." He spread his hands and shrugged. "No offet."

"There's got to be," Jonson insisted. "What's more, when the commandant arrives there'll be hell to pay if there isn't."

"You find it." the flight lieutenant suggested.

"I'll bet a month's pay that an offet is some sort of religious denarid. Something to do with prophets, perhaps"

"Well if you find John the Baptist on board the FF-20 N.S.S. Intelligent go ahead and let me know."

"You got a certificate from the International School of Divinity and a chaplain training from Fort Bull" Jonson pointed out. "that—and you don't know what an offet is."

"Nom d'un chien!" ejaculated Keelan, waving his arms around. "I tell you ten thousand time there is no offet. There never was an offet. John Knox himself could not find the offet of which there is none. Am I a magician perhaps?"

"It's part of the religious equipment," the Colonel maintained. "It must be because it's on page three. And page three means its proper home is in the chaplain’s office, care of the chaplain."

"Like eef it does," the flight lieutenant retorted. He pointed at a metal box on the wall. "Intercom booster. Is that mine?"

The Cornel thought it over, conceded, "No, it's Bullan's. His stuff rambles all over the ship."

"Then ask him for this eefing offet," flight lieutenant Matfey Keelan said, triumphantly.

"I will. If it's not yours, it must be his. I've finished with page three. I'll go see Bullan about this missing item." The shipmaster started on his way to the electrical room traversing the corridors on his way he passed a crewmember going the opposite way. The most loyal officer and capable of smelling out dangers not visible to human eyes. The crewmember was Chance, a red golden retriever. Chance was the official dog of the FF-20 N.S.S. Intelligent. Jonson thought to He wouldn't be on the recite (more crew than equipment). From the corridor flight lieutenant Bullan watched his superior inter one of his four domains: the electrical room, battery room, engine room and fire room of which were commanded by four flight lieutenants his position (rather than rank) gave him command over.

"Mam"

"In the chaplains office we're short an offet," explained Jonson. "Where is it?"

"Why ask me? The chaplain’s office is Keelan's bailiwick."

"Not entirely. A lot of your cables run through it. You've two terminal boxes in there, also an automatic switch and an intercom booster. Where's the offet?"

"Never heard of it," said Bullan, baffled.

Jonson shouted, "Don't tell me that! I'm already fed up hearing Keelan saying it. Four years back we had an offet. It says so here. This is our copy of what we checked and signed for. It says we signed for an offet. Therefore, we must have one. It's got to be found before the commandant gets here."

Despite being a Colonel in the Maritime Commissioned Corp Bullan found Darla Jonson very girlish. "there is no such thing in the physical world."

"Then," demanded the Colonel, "why did we sign for one?"

"I didn't sign for anything. You did all the signing."

"While you and others did the checking. Four years ago, presumably in the chaplain’s office, I said, 'Offet, one,' and either you or Keelan pointed to it and said, 'Check.' I took somebody's word for it. I have to take other specialists' words for it. I am an expert commander, familiar with all the latest tactics and strategize of surface warfare but not with other stuff. So, I'm compelled to rely on people who know what an offet is—or ought to."

Bullan had a bright thought. "All kinds of oddments were dumped in the corridors, and offices when we were fitted-out. We had to sort through a deal of stuff and stash it where it properly belonged, remember? This offet-thing might be anyplace today. It isn't necessarily my responsibility or Keelan's."

"I'll see what the other officers say," agreed Jonson, conceding the point. "Statham, Banister, Goddard, or one of the others may be coddling the item. Wherever it is, it's got to be found. Or accounted for in full if it's been expended." She went out. Bullan pulled a face. An hour later Jonson came back wearing a scowl. "Positively," she announced with ire, "there is no such thing on the ship. Nobody knows of it. Nobody can so much as guess at it."

"Cross it off and report it lost," Bullan suggested.

"What, when we're hard aground? You know as well as I do that loss and damage must be signaled at time of occurrence. If I tell the Commandant the offet went west, he'll want to know when, where, how, and why it wasn't signaled. There'll be a real ruckus if the contraption happens to be valued at half a million units. I can't dismiss it with an airy wave of the hand."

"What's the answer then?" inquired Bullan, innocently ambling straight into the trap.

"There's one and only one," Jonson announced. "You will manufacture an offet."

"Who? Me?" said Bullan, twitching his scalp.

"You and no other. I'm fairly sure the thing is your pigeon, anyway. You will make an offet. It will be completed by six tomorrow evening and ready for my inspection then. It had better be convincing, in fact pleasing. In fact, its function will be convincing."

Bullan stood up, let his hands dangle, and said in hoarse tones, "How can I make an offet when I don't even know what it is?"

"Neither does the commandant know," Jonson pointed out, leering at him. "He's more of a quantity surveyor than anything else. As such he counts things, looks at things, certifies that they exist, accepts advice on whether they are functionally satisfactory or worn out. All we need do is concoct an imposing denarid and tell him it's the offet."

"Holy Moses!" said Bullan, fervently.

"Let us not rely on the dubious assistance of Biblical characters," Jonson reproved. "Let us use the brains that God has given us. Get a grip on your soldering-iron and make a topnotch offet by six tomorrow evening. That's an order!" He departed, satisfied with this solution. Behind him, Bullan gloomed at the wall and licked his lips once, twice.

August 11th 1934 0800
Commandant Max Pontecorvo arrived right on time. He was a short, paunchy character with a florid complexion and eyes like those of a long-dead fish. His gait was an important strut. He wore a none-standard jacket over his uniform with white gloves. The 5 silver stars with clovers on a blue shoulder bar sat over his heart on his jacket. A flag detail hoisted his flag over the FF-20 N.S.S. Intelligent. "Ah, Cornel, I trust that you have everything shipshape."

"Everything usually is," assured Jonson, glibly. "I see to that." She spoke with conviction.

"Good!" approved Pontecorvo. "I like a commander who takes her responsibilities seriously. Much as I regret saying so, there are a few who do not. Where do you prefer to start, bow or tail?"

"My equipment-recites run from bow backward. We may as well deal with them the way they're set."

"Very well." He trotted officiously toward the bow, paused on the way to pat Chance. "Well cared-for, I see."

"Yes, by flight lieutenant Keelan" Reaching the bow-cabin, Pontecorvo took a seat, accepted the folder from Jonson, started off at businesslike pace. They carried on, reached the galley, the bays of the flight lieutenants, lieutenants and midshipmen, a succession of other places back to the chaplain’s office. Here, Keelan posed in freshly laundered mostly slandered issue uniform with the exception of a clerical collar on his khaki short sleeve shirt and eyed the newcomer warily.

"K17 Recusant Holy Bible, one of"

"Check" said Keelan

"K17A2 Recusant Holy Bible New Testament, case of 100, seven of"

"Check"

"K16 Recusant book of common prayer, one of"

"Check"

"K15 simple sermons notes book, one of"

"Check"

"K14 Recusant hymnal, one of"

"Check"

"K13 monstrance kit, one of"

"Check"

"K12 kiddie pool, one of"

"Check"

"K11 Spiritual Fitness book, case of 150, five of"

"Check"

"K10 Tactical Rosary beads, 100 of"

"Check"

"K9 offet, one of"

"Zounds!" said Keelan, shooting sparks from his eyes, "I have said before and I say again, there never was—"

"The offet is in the engine room, sir," Jonson chipped in hurriedly.

"Indeed?" Pontecorvo took another look at the receipt. "Then why is it recorded along with chaplain’s equipment?"

"It was placed in the chaplain’s office at time of fitting-out, sir. It's one of those portable instruments left to us to fix up where most suitable."

"Hm-m-m! Then it should have been transferred to the engine room list. Why didn't you transfer it?"

"I thought it better to wait for your authority to do so, sir."

The fish-eyes registered gratification. "Yes, that is quite proper of you, Colonel. I will transfer it now." He crossed the item from page three, initialed it, entered it on sheet seven, initialed that. An hour later he strutted into the engine room. Bullan stood up, squared his shoulders but could not keep his feet or hands from fidgeting. His eyes protruded slightly and kept straying toward Jonson in silent appeal. He was like a man wearing a porcupine in his pants. "K9 Offet, one" said Pontecorvo in his usual tone of brooking no nonsense. Bullan pawed a small box fronted with dials, switches, and colored lights. It looked like an amateur radio's idea of a slot machine. He knocked down a couple of switches. The lights came on, played around in intriguing combinations.

"This is it, sir," he informed with difficulty.

"Ah!" Pontecorvo left his chair and moved across for a closer look. "I don't recall having seen this item before. But there are so many different models of the same things. Is it still operating efficiently?"

"Yes, sir."

"It's one of the most useful things in the ship," contributed Jonson, for good measure.

"What does it do?" inquired Pontecorvo, inviting Bullan to cast a pearl of wisdom before him. Bullan paled.

Hastily, Jonson said, "A full explanation would be rather involved and technical but, to put it as simply as possible, it’s a fiber optic enabled wave front actuator."

"I see," said Pontecorvo, not seeing at all. He resumed his seat, ticked the offet and carried on. "J17. Switchboard, automatic, forty-line intercom, one of."

"Here it is, sir."

Pontecorvo glanced at it, returned his gaze to the sheet. The others used his momentary distraction to mop perspiration from their foreheads. Victory had been gained. Commandant Max Pontecorvo of the inspector general's office departed pleased and complimentary.

Date and such

Bullan marched in to the shipmasters cabin, chewed his bottom lip while waiting for Jonson to finish writing in the log. Finally, Jonson pushed the book away, glanced up, frowned. "What's the matter with you? Got a bellyache or something?"

"No, mam. I've been thinking."

"Does it hurt that much?"

"I've been thinking," persisted Bullan in funereal tones. "We left City 04 and are headed to Nator State City for an overhaul. You know what that means? We'll walk off the ship and a horde of experts will walk onto it." He stared tragically at the other. "Experts, I said."

"Naturally they'll be experts," Jonson agreed. "Equipment cannot be tested and brought up to scratch by a bunch of dopes."

"It will require more than a mere expert to bring the offet up to scratch," Bullan pointed out. "It'll need a genius.

Jonson rocked back, swapped expressions like changing masks. "Holy Hole in a Doughnut! I'd forgotten all about that thing. When we get to Nator State City we won't blind those boys with science."

"No, mam, we won't," endorsed Bullan. He did not add "any more," but his face shouted aloud, "Your girlishness got me into this. You get me out of it." He waited a time while Jonson did some intense thinking, then prompted, "What do you suggest, mam?"

Slowly the satisfied smile returned to Jonsson’s features as she answered, "throw it overboard."

"That doesn't solve the problem," said Bullan. "We'll still be short an offet."

"No, we won't. Because I'm going to signal its loss owing to the hazards of the sea surface service." She closed one eye in an emphatic wink. "We're at sea right now." She reached for a notepad and scribbled on it while Bullan stood by vastly relieved. Item K9 Offet internals melted during routine service rendering it kaput. Item disposed of.

Lieutenant Tammy Li Radioing Jonson's message to headquarters: "Mike1 DE Inteignt0, over"

"Inteignt0 DE Mike1, send over"

"DE Inteignt0 to Mike1 prepare to receive damage report, over"

"Roger Inteight0, send your damage report, over"

"830.25 Inteight0 -break- Item K9 Offet internals melted during routine service rendering it kaput. Item disposed of -break- How copy, over.

"Roger Inteight0 Solid copy, over.

"Always forward, over and out."

August 12th 1934 0943

"It's going fine thanks. Maybe I shouldn't ask but shouldn't you be in the electrical room or the engine room, Sir?"

"There are no girls in the electrical room or the engine room or fire room or the battery room or any other-well actually there is but there is are only five women out of 640 people on this ship and three of them are LE-1 midshipmen. Being that were headed to Nator State City was wondering if you would like to hang out."

"We’re not headed to Nator State City. look at this: 'All ships grounded forthwith. Vessels at sea will make for nearest port pending further instructions.' What do you think it means? War with Amaur-" She started to receive a message from her radio headphones. He looked at her. She was very pretty. He began to think to himself: this change in plans had nothing to do with war. Sure, August 5th Nator Statesmen Bruno Ebberman Belcher was made Secretary-General Bruno E. Belcher in charge of PCONPIE and Sure a trinational defense coalition against Amaurita was in the working building upon a defense coalition against Amaurita comprising Shinguo and signed into action the day they left City 04 but he knew exactly what this was. Some technical problem on a ship had caused a deadly emergency. Like a ship exploding for no apparent reason. If one ship exploded due to an abnormality all the ships in the fleet might just explode all at once leaving the Maritime Commissioned Corps with just air planes and landsmen. She began taking down a message on a pink notepad. He leaned over her like chaeta ready to pounce from a tree, reading it as she wrote, his BO suffocating her. She finished and he grabbed the pink notepad. "I'll take this" She didn't object as he left with it. Jonson found him about to enter her cabin. Bullan looked at her with a face full of horror. "The K9 offet," stuttered Bullan. He made motions as though brushing off invisible spiders.

"What of it?"

"It's a typographical error. In your copy it should read off. pet and K9 is a homophone canine. The Colonel stared owlishly.

"off. pet echoed Jonson, making it sound like Sonchen.

"Yes, that is our canine official pet "

"You mean Chance, The Dog?"

"Read it for yourself" he handed the pink note pad to Jonson and bolted away. Jonson looked at the message. "911.25 Mike1 -break- Your damage report on the canine official pet: Chance. Detail fully circumstances and manner in which the dog's interns melted during routine service rendering it kaput. Cross-examine crew and signal all coincidental symptoms experienced by them -break- How copy, over. Jonson walked back into her cabin closed the door and peed herself wetting her grey dress uniform pants.

Dept. Of Infrastructure Reforms Payment System, Interstate Project

Workers construct Local Travel Lane, Interstate 5, Palma

15 July, 1934

The United States Department of Infrastructure ratified a series of reforms yesterday to improve the pace at which the Interstate Expressway System is constructed. The network of highways and railroads designed to link the United States, has progressed somewhat in the past month, averaging 8 kilometers on each of the 12 planned Interstates, or roughly 96 kilometers scattered across the nation.

The most impactful change in policy made by the department was the approval of 24 hour construction, Monday through Saturday. Effective starting at Midnight on Wednesday, 1 August 1934, the workday will be broken down into three eight hour shifts, starting at 12 AM through 8 AM, 8 AM through 4 PM, and 4 PM through 12 AM. Construction firms will not be permitted to schedule laborers on more than one shift per 24-hour period, and will not be permitted to operate labor on Sundays. The Department of Infrastructure

Also part of the Department’s reforms, the Department will no longer pay labor costs by the hour. Labor costs will be paid out based on the percentage of progress made for a particular month. For the month of July, for instance, it is projected that 90 kilometers will be completed between July 1 and July 31, or 0.18% of the planned 50,000 kilometers overall. Therefore, the Department of Infrastructure will payout 0.18% of the labor costs for the project overall.

The Presidential House

The President of Amerce sat in his office reading over the paper both news and an official report from the Office of Military Intelligence and from the foreign relations office of Southern Kykia. The Newspaper he had in his hand read on the front of the paper in large lettering.

PCONPIE what does this mean for the world?

He ran his hand those his hair, wondering what should be done about those is in his government would who push for a more hawkish stance to this development. While he had been able to keep back the worst of them when dealing with the hawk’s, by okaying more money to be spent for the military, but this? This was going to be a hard sell to keep them back, while he did not expect them to do anything that would put the country in danger. This was going to be something that would make them push for a more aggressive outwards policy stance. Something which Alan did not want to do, given he had sold his administration on an internal development and lack of wars. But even then, there was only so must he could do before the hawks would force his hand. But this was not the end to Amerce or her spot in the world stage, there would be a way to weather this event in the world stage. But deep down inside him no matter how much he ignored it, he could not help but agree with the hawks this could be not very good for Amerce. If PCONPIE pushed, they could hurt Amerce because of the large Airforce and Navy she had. With that, it could be very damaging to Amerce’s ability to fight in a defensive war over time. But the course of action stayed the same, build up Amerce’s internal industry and hope that would keep the hawks off his back. But no matter his words or actions the ball so to speak was in the hands of PCONPIE, and they would be the ones to dictate what would happen, Amerce would do her best to prepare, but in the end, the best they could do is react to whatever happens.

"This nation has the means to end this war in a definitive and elegant manner, we seek not destruction and conflict but a balance of power and restoration to peace, and it will be done with reason and justice from beginning to end, and the world will be grateful, only then will they see the way to true peace."

The Henningsdale Herald

1936 Election Campaign Kicks Off!

Image

Enthusiastic Colby supporters gather outside a rally in Henningsdale, Altacado

12 August, 1934

The commencement of the “hard” election campaign started August 1st this year, with candidates officially announcing their bids for the Presidency of the United States. The current President, Thomas Garthwaite, and the former Republican Governor of Palma, has served two terms since his election in 1928, and will not be considered eligible as a candidate in the 1936 Presidential Election. Candidates have launched their soft campaigns since June of this year, holding rallies and town hall meetings in order to generate larger crowds of followers. Election Day for 1936 will be October 21st, 1935, and the Electoral College will convene on November 21st, 1935. The winner of the election shall be sworn in as the President of the United States on January 21st, 1936, at noon.

The Republican Party’s candidate for 1936 will be former Governor Thomas Jamison Colby, a Republican from Altacado. Governor Colby served as the Sheriff of Plainview County, Altacado, for five years, 1906 to 1911, and then was selected to be the the U.S Marshal in Altacado. Governor Colby served as the U.S Marshal of Altacado for seventeen years, between 1911 and 1928, before being elected Governor of Altacado in 1928. Governor Colby pledged to run a “New Dawn” campaign, which mostly aims to continue the policies of his predecessor, President Garthwaite. These New Dawn policies include continuing the expansion of the military, strengthening ties with the Entente, and expanding U.S industry and infrastructure to rival the west. Governor Colby has held soft campaigns across the United States with great success over the past several months, especially in his home state.

The Democrat’s primary candidate will be Joseph Mahoney, currently one of Itacare’s Senators. Senator Mahoney served as a lawyer for twenty years, before being appointed the District Attorney for Cape County in Itacare. The Senator served as the District Attorney for twelve years, between 1922 and 1934, before being elected by the Parliament of Itacare to serve as a Senator. The Democratic Party has, for the 1936 Election, pledged a “return to normality” as the heart of the Democratic Campaign. In essence, this pledge has translated to reversing the expansion of the armed forces, cutting U.S economic and military ties to major powers such as Amerce and the Entente, and cutting government expenditures across the board. The Democratic Party has attracted a following in the more rural regions of the United States over the past several decades, yet the dramatic and consistently clashing policies proposed by the Democrats may harm their chances on a national level severely.

Other parties, such as the Unionist Party and the Amauritan Worker’s Party, have announced bids for the Presidency, with more left-wing agendas, such as the reversal of the military expansion and growth of socialism in the United States. Said parties, however, are increasingly unpopular, and may be forced out of the race entirely by the time of the first debates.

As the election campaign continues, it is projected that the Republicans will dominate Palma, Kalinea, Nevada, Mesilla, Altacado, Mexico, and Coronado will all be carried by the Republican Party, after comparing historical trends and surveys of likely voters in the aforementioned states. The Democrats, on the other hand, are projected to carry Itacare, Arisona, and Colorado, which in turn do not possess a majority of electoral votes, or even a majority of the popular votes. Nonetheless, the Republicans will have to work hard to carry this election, as the Democratic Party is becoming increasingly vocal with its criticisms of their opposition, and continue to gather followers on a daily basis.

Engleton, Palma, U.S.A

The Capitol District - Located in the heart of Engleton, the entirety of the federal government’s day-to-day activities were administered in this district in Central Engleton. While the sun shined, a motorcade arrived at the steps of the War Department’s building. Several individuals, including President Garthwaite and several aides, exited. They planned to meet with representatives from the War Department and the Infrastructure Department, over several national security matters.

Garthwaite, escorted up to the door by officers from the Engleton Police Department, entered the War Department Building, the cool air from the fans washing over his face. His shoes clicked on the marble floor as he walked down the hallway, towards the Giordano Conference Hall.

There, several people already awaited. General Murray, commander of the Army, as well as several delegates from Infrastructure, waited as well. The general walked up to the President, and offered a salute. ”Mr. President,” the General stated flatly. ”The pleasure is all mine.” Garthwaite nodded before responding. ”Likewise,” he said, and gestured towards the conference table. ”Shall we begin the conference?”

The general nodded. President Garthwaite, his aides, as well as General Murray and several representatives of the Infrastructure Department gathered around the table, which was coated in a scaled and elevated map of the U.S.

”First matter of business is the capital.” The General started. ”The capital here in Engleton, overall, is too vulnerable.” General Murray started, using a cane to circle around the Engleton area. ”I propose we move the capital to the interior, to better shield the seat of power. I believe the best location is here, along the Nevada-Mesilla State Line.” General Murray poked the end of his cane on a spot along the Gila River. ”This location in particular is better suited, due to its location along the Gila River. That way, the capital has connection to the Sea of Itacare, and in turn the Pacific Ocean. Furthermore, any invading army, heaven forbid, would have to either march across the entirety of Palma and Nevada, or have to sail all the way up the Sea of Itacare and risk being flanked on land by all sides. Alternatively, an invading force could march all the way from the Caspian Sea or the Grand Rockies up in Colorado, which would be even more unlikely.”

President Garthwaite nodded. ”This has to go through Parliament and the Senate first. Should they approve it, how long do you think it would take the core of the district to be constructed? And how long to relocate the entirety of the federal government?”

Andrew McCleveland, one of the representatives from the Infrastructure Department, piped up. ”We can get temporary meeting locations and residences up by this time next year. After that the entire federal government could be moved by the end of next year, assuming all departments are prepared to relocate immediately upon completion.”

”Understood,” Garthwaite stated blankly. ”What was your second proposition, General?”

General Murray tapped several coastal locations across the map. ”To better protect our borders and coasts, I propose the construction of several defensive posts across the nation. These fortifications would be equipped with artillery and anti-air batteries, and should be adequate to house at least one regiment to staff them. We ought to build several around Engleton and Martleburgh, Saint Jamesburg, at the gates of the Sea of Itacare, as well as the Sea of Jara, the Caspian Sea, and our northern borders.”

President Garthwaite stood silent for a moment. ”Very well,” he muttered. ”Please begin the design process. This has to go through Parliament and the Senate first and foremost, but I believe that we should get most of the legislators on our side. Thank you, everyone.”
