Taiwanese Situation

Postby Albanions » Tue Jun 02, 2020 5:12 am

March 15th 1935

After buying the new territory of Taipei the king of Sweden was escorted by a part of the royal fleet to the island. There he was met by the protesters where he requested a meeting with one of the leaders. After hours of debating the Swedish king gave a speech to the confused people of Taiwan.
Charles- I know that you may feel betrayed by the government of Thentro but I will clarify to you that we are not here to occupy or threaten the island. The island will be a protectorate of the Swedish government and you will be an autonomous zone in the Kingdom meaning that your tradition and culture in not in danger and that the people of Taiwan will have free and fair elections by the people and you will be governs in a different jurisdiction then Sweden meaning that new laws may be approved to suit the island. The Swedish government will also invest in infrastructure and industry to improve the lives of the people and the economy of the island.
The Swedish government will also send one of the infantry devisions to protect the island from any outside threat.

A New Union

Postby Albanions » Tue Jun 02, 2020 6:16 am

March 18th 1935

As after arriving back in Sweden King Charles has a vary important meeting waiting for him. The meeting was better one the two government of Sweden and Norway and how they could improve their economy's and soft power. After 6 long hours of debating the two governments agreed that a Union between the two kingdoms would be the best course of action this would be done through the Royal marriage of the King of Sweden and Queen of Norway. Both the economies and army's of the two kingdoms would merge and after a integration phase so would the government but there still would be two prime ministers one for Norway and one for Sweden. The royal marriage will take place in 23 days to give time for the planing of it. But the economic and military merge would start much sooner.

The Word of Dha'Nem'Rhi

Settrak Advocates for Invasion of the Mughal Empire

20th of March, 1935

Settrak Shaokas D'Mu published a further sacramental article detailing the future foreign policy goals of the Nek'Qian'Taran nation with the help of the ever guiding will of Dha'Nem'Rhi. Detailed in this sacrament is a rallying call for regional powers to unite around Nek'Qian'Tara with the goal of removing the Mughal Empire from the world stage. He, in particular, called upon the leaders of Greater Ergonia to assist the Nek'Qian'Tarans in their endeavor, citing that such an action would ensure long lasting stability in the region around Ergonia Raj. The Settrak also built on previously expressed sentiments of the northern Khateks and outlined a desire for a broadened trade agreement between Nek'Qian'Tara and Amerce.

A series of rousing speeches from Nek'Qian'Tara's leaders, most prominently Settrak Shaokas D'Mu, has been calling the public to support an invasion of the Mughal Empire. The geopolitical motives behind the invasion are less prominent in the rhetoric to patriotic sentiments, but this campaign appears highly efficient in convincing the public of its necessity. An extract of the Settrak's comments on the Mughal Empire can be found below.

"If we want to have the strategic advantage in the foreseeable, not to say inevitable war with the Mughal 'Empire', there is no room to hesitate. This is about safeguarding our children's futures and ensuring that Dha'Nem'Rhi's guiding light has a place in the world tomorrow. This is a matter of devotion to our cause, our god and the ideals we take for granted. It's time to act."

23 March, 1935

The State of Palma released a press statement this morning announcing the annual state fair will be held in Vespucci, Palma. The Town of Vespucci, famed for its canals, is located in Engleton County, in southern Palma, just a short drive north on what will become Interstate 5. The State Fair, held annually in the second week of July for over twenty years, is one of many state fairs held annually over the summer season. Between Late May and Early September, all ten states host these state fairs as an exhibition of local traditions, food, and music, all wrapped in the timeless theme of patriotism.

New Cuir, Amerce

"Good Evening Amerce, I'm Thomas Koch with the Amerce Broadcasting Company, here to deliver you the news. The United Syndicalist Republic of Vael has seen economic hardship following the recent embargo placed on them by the members of the PCONPIE Oil Cartel. They have taken issue with the fact that their military ally, the United States of Amaurita, has also joined in the embargo. While they do not want to force Amaurita to choose between PCONPIE and the Entente the USRV has stated that this event has hurt their civilians and workers. They are willing to negotiate with PCONPIE or with Amaurita or with the Entente in order to solve their oil problems. Meanwhile civil society members in the USRV have called for boycotts on PCONPIE members imports. The exact relationship these calls have with the Syndicalist party and regime is unclear. Our next story we will debate with a guest speaker on the value of Sonchenland's "Forum" for nations."

EVENT: VAEL EMBARGOED
PCONPIE members have embargoed Vael. Vael seeks to undue these embargoes by any means necessary.

AT RISK: Vael relationship with Amaurita

AT RISK: Vael Relationship with PCONPIE

AT RISK: Vael Relationship with the Entente.

The Palmetto Garden, Presidential Mansion Complex

Engleton Fed. District, United States of Amaurita

The breeze swept through the piazza, bringing a cool relief to the warm outdoors. The summer was fast approaching in Engelton, and the Presidential Mansion complex, at the heart of Engelton’s Federal District, was being treated to a sneak preview of what was to come in the following months. In terms of weather, at least.

President Garthwaite exited the side door, walking out onto the piazza. Formally called the Palmetto Garden, this is where he would get to deliver addresses and hold conferences in the spring and summer. Tonight, he would get to hold a conference, though not one he would be enjoying.

Garthwaite approached the podium, as reporters took their seats and began firing questions off at Mr. Thomson, the President’s Press Secretary. Thomson was advised to not give significant information to the press prematurely though. That, after all, was Garthwaite’s job, whether he wanted to or not. Within a breath, Garthwaite replaced Thomson at the podium, prepared the address he had written, and began:

”Good evening, ladies and gentlemen.” President Garthwaite announced, the cool spring air swaying through the two palmetto trees in the corners of the garden.

”Last August, my administration authorized the entry of the United States into PCONPIE, the global union of petroleum exporting nations. Under the Treaty of Pasadena Springs, signed with the Sonacist Regime that resides over Shingou, the aim of the aforementioned treaty was to ease tensions between the two powers and generate economic prosperity. Yet as we stand here tonight, the PCONPIE organization has passed an embargo on The United Syndicalist Republic of Vael, a fellow member of the Entente. Despite United States opposition, the notion passed anyway, and now a fellow member of the Entente is in economic danger, due to the PCONPIE Organization’s death grip on the international petroleum industry.”

”After close evaluation of the situation on hand, I have signed Executive Order number 609 earlier today. Effective immediately, the United States is terminating it’s membership in the PCONPIE Organization, and will be resuming petroleum exports to the Vaelian nation immediately. The United States will be also requesting that its fellow members of the Entente further evaluate their economic ties with the PCONPIE Organization, and determine if said relations are necessary for the local economies of its members.”

”To our former partners, let me be clear: the United States does not wish ill upon PCONPIE. We do, however, encourage its leaders to reflect on this recent events and consider the impact that the embargo has had on not only the Vaelian Nation, but to PCONPIE itself, and its global image as a whole. To the Vaelian People: the United States apologizes for the embargo set forth by our former business partners, and we wish to work with the Vaelian nation to assist in its overcoming of the economic penalties it was unfairly burdened with.”

”That is all.” President Garthwaite stated, folding the address and placing it neatly into his suit pocket. ”May God bless the Vaelian People, may God bless our former business partners, and may God bless the United States of Amaurita. Thank you.”

As President Garthwaite left the podium and made his way out of the Palmetto Garden, several reporters crowded around the podium, entrapping the Press Secretary with more questions about the speech and executive order that was held today. Garthwaite walked as if a huge weight had been lifted off his shoulders, yet he knew that this would not be the last time he would be speaking in the Palmetto Garden in regards to Pconpie. For now, however, he would allow himself this as a personal victory.

March 28th 1935
Imperial Police Office
Alten-Lindenstatt
Holy Caesii Empire

Käsar stared at his chalkboard, there were too few connections. Interviews with the Imperial Diplomatic Corp had been done and only hearsay was collected. Research into Bernd had ended up in a dead end. And the wanted posters had done very little. If Käsar could not produce results, the case might end up closed.

“Captain,” Steffen said, “I’ve returned with the reports.”

“Thank you Detective,” Käsar replied as Steffan handed him the folder.

Käsar had already read the reports a dozen time, but perhaps one more time could give him the inspiration he needed.

“Let’s begin at the top,” Käsar stated out loud, “Bernd Heilmann was reportedly from Thuringia, but after doing research no evidence came up to support that. Implying the documents handed to the IDC were fake.”

“Yet good enough to pass inspection,” Steffen added, “The hiring team also came back as clean.”

“Indeed,” Käsar agreed, “So who could have given Bernd his identity and papers?”

“He had been in Alten-Lindenstatt since at least August 1934 when he signed his renting agreement.”

“Communists, Imperial Church Party, Untereisenbahn, Ringvereine,” Käsar wrote each name on the chalkboard.

“I doubt it was the Ringvereine, why would they want to conduct spying on their own nation?” Steffan questioned, “they may be criminals but a lot of them are ICP members and dedicated nationalists.”

Käsar nodded in agreement, crossing out the Ringvereine’s name on the chalkboard adding, “That logic also rules out the ICP,”

“Unless the ICP was planning another Putsch,”

“Aye,” Käsar said as he wrote Putsch next to the ICP.

“And the Communists? There are violent ones among them, but the ones that could give them a fake identity would not want to make waves. The communist party is on thin ice as it is. Why would they risk supporting a spy?” Steffan asked.

“There could be a feud in the communist party,” Käsar replied while writing Vael next to the Communists, “it’s been well known that the Syndicalists in Vael like to recruit communist party members to be their spies.”

“Lastly the Untereisen,” Steffan said.

“That would mean Bernd was an escaped serf,” Käsar answered, “and there’s so much goodwill in this country, that just saying one’s an escaped serf can get one a fake identity.”

“Indeed the Untereisen runs deep,” Steffan replied.

“It could be anyone of these,” Käsar stated circling the word Untereisenbahn, “but the Untereisenbahn is the least worst here.”

“Alright,”

“Now,the other lead, what did Bernd take a picture of?”

“No hard evidence,” Steffan replied, “He shouldn't have had access to any of the document rooms.”

“No but he was friends with the clerk of the document room,” Käsar pointed out.

“He was friends with all the girls in the IDP,” Steffan countered.

“Yes but one in particular he hung out with. One clerk even stated there was a rumor that the two were dating.”

“Correct,” Steffan replied, “but she swore she did nothing to help with his theft or allow him to have access to the room.”

“But it was common for the clerks to ask low level members to cover the door for them at times.”

“But then he would have had to open the door and deal with the officer in the room.”

“Unless the officer was at a meeting.”

“But enough time to grab the documents, take a picture, and then return? All without being caught?”

“A department meeting would do just that, He’d be free to read the documents, his boss would be gone, take the pictures, and then return.”

“But the door would have been locked.”

Käsar sighed, “indeed, so unless the clerk unlocked it for him, or he got his hand on her key. It doesn’t make sense.”

“The clerk did say that one day she found the Kykian files misfiled,” Steffan added optimistically.

“Indeed, she said that was the week of the twentieth, and that week there was a department meeting!” Käsar replied, “We just don’t know how he got through the door. We don't know that, we don't know how he got his name. We don't even know who he is! And we barely even know what he took pictures of!"

March 29th 1935
3 miles from Dresden
Holy Caesii Empire

Bernd poked around at the campfire, now nothing more than glowing embers. Last night's rest was not the greatest, Bernd did miss his bed. He had gotten used to his comfortable city life. But not enough to forget the many nights of sleeping on hay and the ground with only the barn roof above him. He was no stranger to bad sleep.

crack

Bernd turned his head to the sound of the noise, his arm reaching for his knife.

“Calm down,” Luis said as he appeared from behind the trees, “it’s just me.”

Bernd relaxed his grip on his knife. Only to have a hat thrown into his face, followed by a pair of sunglasses.

“What?” Bernd called out in surprise.

“Put this on, you need to disguise yourself.”

“Why?”

“My friends say that the cops are looking all over for you. They haven’t seen harassment like this in a while. Not since the serf revolt.”

“I didn’t realize the serf revolt affected Sonchenland all that much,”

“The Imperial Police were all over the place during the revolt. Now enough we need to keep moving. We’ll have to walk around Dresden. We don’t want to go into any cities. Eventually we should come across a rural train depot. I have enough cash to get a quick train ride.”

“Won’t that be risky?”

“It will be, but we need to move fast. We’ll work on your disguise a bit. The Untereisen has been really kind to us. Now let’s clean camp.”

“Wait,” Bernd said as he stood up and pulled out his camera.

Luis rolled his eyes and walked out of the shot. Bernd looked through the camera and saw the remains of the campfire, the worn bags, his boots and the rocks they had camped by.

Click

The shutter flicked and his camera captured the moment. Bernd smiled and nodded to Luis and began clearing the camp.

Yerminster Palace, Conston, Greater Ergonia - 30 March, 1935

bronnnggg… bronnnggg…
The grandfather clock struck two, and verberated throughout the halls of Yerminster Palace. There was no session of parliament and the arguments and insults that go with it, no, rather something more splendorous was happening in the Massey Hall.

Gathered in the Massey Hall, were the heads of the Royal Government, Navy, and Army as well as multiple representatives from the King’s Dominions across the sea. The walls were decorated with the Union Jack, the Royal Standard and the many flags of the Ergonian Commonwealth, from the Cape and to the Raj.

As Chancellor Dinkeldurf of Thentro walked towards the Massey hall he couldn't help but think of the changes that will be made to his Nation for the better.

“His Royal and Imperial Majesty, Edmund V, by the Grace of the Soter, King of Greater Ergonia and Strathland, of the Dominions across the sea, Emperor of Sagaria, Defender of the Catholic Church!” The Lord-Blackrod announces, beating a staff against the floor, as two guards opened the vast double doors.

In, stepped King Edmund, dressed in his Royal Navy uniform, his hand resting on his saber, and his chest bejeweled with the many medals of the Empire. Following him was the Lord-Chancellor, and many courtiers and members of the Royal Government and military.

“Gerald Dinkledurf” Edmund called, as a member of the King’s Household brought a stool in front of Dinkledurf, as the Bishop of Aderbury brought a black-veltvet box, standing besides the King. “Kneel before your King-Emperor” the Lord-Chancellor said, in a formal and deep voice.

“Your Majesty it is an honour that I am here in your presence here in the heart of your empire” Said Chancellor Dinkeldurf kneeled in front of the monarch.

“Gerald Dinkledurf, do you truly and sincerely acknowledge, profess, testify, and declare in your conscience before God and the world, that our Sovereign Lord King Edmund, is lawful and rightful King of this realm, and of all other in his Majesties Dominions and Countries. And do you make this Recognition and acknowledgement heartily, willingly, and truly, upon the true Faith of a Recusant. So help you God?” Archbishop Mortimer asked, stepping forward, and holding the Libras.

“Yes I do” Said Gerald Dinlkeldurf, humbled by the presence of the King.

“Then I, invested by royal and imperial prerogative, knight thee in the order of our most sacred Saint Paul” Edmund says softly, unsheathing his sword and gently tapping it upon his shoulders, quickly sheathing the blade as the Archbishop of Aderbury opened the velvet box.

Edmund took out of the box a star of the Order of Saint Paul, bejeweled and sparkling. He helped the Thentrosian chancellor to his feet, and pinned the medal to his chest. “Sir Gerald, would you be our First Minister of the Commonwealth of the Gold Coast?” Edmund asked, as the Archbishop of Aderbury withdrew, closing the box.

"Good Morning Amerce, I'm Thomas Koch with the Amerce Broadcasting Company, here to deliver you the news. Our main news is the announcement of the Commonwealth of the Gold Coast has reached the world. In Thentro the Socialists decry the move and have initiated a worker's strike, mainly among agricultural workers and transportation workers. They demand the resignation of Chancellor Dinlkeldurf and immediate elections. Many politicians in Thentro declare the move as dangerous for the nation, stating it makes Thentro a pawn in Ergonian politics. The nation is still upset over the selling of Tapei and now it has reached to a worker strike as protesters gather in the capital. The Nation of Mali has stated they intend of maintain the Military Alliance but won't serve to aid Ergonia interests in Lybia. The Commonwealth of the Gold Coast is off to a rocky start."

April 4th, 1935
Cannon Range-Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, Amerce
Wings of Victory

The was a clear day in central Missouri, standing at an observation post looking out to a clear field was a group of Army and Army Air Force officials out by about 600 yards with a number of targets both mock-up people, vehicles and gun emplacements. Out from the east came a number of A-17’s in a 3 plane V formations came in on attack runs each group of three tanks releasing a cluster of bombs on target leaving nothing but smoke and the ruined bit of their targets before flying away. Looking through the observation tools at where they stood Army Air Force Lt Col Kingsly spoke, “The A-17’s seen to be effective in their goal for an attack bomber our troops should be well off in the battle for the future.”

“I agree, the A-17 has proven it is a reliable airframe along with its ability to deal with ground targets, we should find much use out of it in the coming years for any possible war that were to break out.” Major Williams said.
"This nation has the means to end this war in a definitive and elegant manner, we seek not destruction and conflict but a balance of power and restoration to peace, and it will be done with reason and justice from beginning to end, and the world will be grateful, only then will they see the way to true peace."

"They paint us as if we have lost the democratic traditions this nation was founded on, that can not, is not, further from the truth in this nation, do they not know what we went through? the 30 years of war that was started by men who did not listen to the people? This Republic will weather the storm, we will fight to the death and win, then welcome our enemies into our great state."

April 7th 1935 2132
Office of the Secretary-General of PCONPIE
Nator State

The Third PCONPIE Assembly

George Murray, the delegate from the United States was not present and would not be present in future meetings. Der Orden and Shingou had both spratly asked for PCONPIE to retaliate against the United States. The Secretary-General shot down Der Ordens proposal thus there would be no vote on the subject. Shingou however could go over the Secretary-General threw the Shinese modernization advisor corps headed by Sikander Manipuri Tianci. Part of a deal granting Nator State access to Shinese oil and military equipment bound by a non-aggression pact signed into action June 15th. And the trinational defense coalition against Amaurita comprising Shinguo, Nator State and one other nation as of August 11th would most likely become the mechanism of Shinese passive aggression. In addition to the Secretary-General , The New Governor Michael Svéntska from Sweden looked over a Nator State travel guide book noting Nator State National Zoo. Governor Keikain Kobo returned to represent Shingou, and Governor Leo von Spreti of Der Orden sat talking with his peers. Ambassador Malkhazi Toreli sat in the guest section of the Assembly, looking over his note, preparing to make his case.

“I hereby call the 3rd International Meeting of the PCONPIE Conference in Nator State City 02 to order” Belcher turned to the secretary, “Will the secretary please do a roll call?” Belcher looked around the room “Are there any corrections to the minutes to be had?” After a pause he continued “Firstly there is a guest among us who represents Hyak and there hope to join our organization and he will now brief us on his case. Then Nator State will make the motion to add Hyak to PCONPIE time to debate shall be unlimited.”

Hyakian ambassador Malkhazi Toreli rose, bowing before the assembled governors.

“It is Hyak’s honor, gentlemen, to be present at this conference. As there has been some dispute regarding our accession, I shall explain the practical benefits of Hyak’s inclusion within this organization.”

“First and foremost are the economic dividends. Hyak occupies a place of growing importance within the oil export market, the result of decades of extraction from our abundant petroleum fields. Direct connection to these resources would vastly increase the quantity of oil under PCONPIE’s control, and, of course, this bloc’s influence as price controller.”

“In addition, I feel obligated to note the diplomatic benefits of our accession. In light of your recent disputes with the United States, the addition of a new member would restore this bloc’s negotiating power and military force, better equipping it to face any future threat. More specifically, Hyak has always had positive relations with the United States, and our presence as mediator would do much to diffuse existing tensions.”

“I can confidently state that the addition of Hyak to this organization will do much to increase its strength and political relevance. Far from disadvantaging any of PCONPIE’s members, Hyak’s inclusion will better equip it to face the troubles ahead. That is all.”

The ambassador bowed once more and returned to his seat.

“The representatives of Shingou vote to support the measure,” Kobo stated.

“Den Orden shall vote to support the measure !!!”, Von Spreti shouted.

Nator State abstaining on account of Sweden's vote “3/4th now being reached, the need for Nator State’s vote is not necessary. The motion passes.”

April 8th 1935 2216

Michael Svéntska looked at the ant-eater at the Nator State National Zoo. He was alone, perhaps one of only people there that day. He had no idea why. "My gosh you are the ugliest creature in the world." The ant-eater looked at Michael Svéntska.

"Yeah well your not so handsome yourself." it said followed by the shrilly grunt of an ant-eater.

April 8th, 1935
Ministry of War, Coŕalios, Ausfon

The halls echoed as Marshall Joseph Joffre strode down the darkened passageways. The men gathered in the conference hall were at the highest levels of the Grand Army's high command. The subject of the meeting was on a proposal of defence he had submitted, giving him feelings of excitement and trepidation. As he approached the conference room two Sergent 's stood at attention and saluted him as they opened the gilded doors to the bright chamber. Voices bounced off the tall walls of the room in varying tones of indignation and bitterness. Of those present there were Lieutenant-colonel's, Colonel's, Général de brigade, and Général de division. Although most here would be an audience as the one who truly posed a problem to the proposal would be Charles de Gaulle.

Upon his entering, the room went silent and Joseph took that as the go ahead to begin. "Gentlemen, I stand before you today to discuss my recent proposal for a fortified line along the border with the HCE." "Such a fortified line once built would negate the need for expanding our armed forces to the size necessary to equal the Kaisers. With such a line our troops will no longer have the demoralising effects of trench warfare and may be able to hold fortified positions in comfort."

At this a de Gaulle interjects "This does not give us many offensive options, holding the line may mean we don't suffer the humiliation of lost Ausfonian territory but it will never help us win a conflict!" to this Joseph responds "The point of the defensive line is to hold the aggressors in place giving us the opportunity to strike out at any point across the line."

"The problem with what you have proposed is a matter of funding and time, relying on a defensive position rather than attempting to modernise as the President and I have insisted may have dir!" "The modernisation of the army of course is an important matter but the manpower we can mobilise will never be enough to counter-balance that of the HCE, if we want to stand a chance during the next major war we will need a defensive line to hold the enemy at bay while we mobilise our forces."

“Hit,” A man in a white shirt said.

“23,” replied another man in a vest.

“Damnit,” the white shirted man said before laughing.

Bernd rolled his eyes at the event, he had seen too many men succumb to the vice of gambeling.

“Hey, new guy, come and play with us!” Another man called out, “it’s free!”

“I don’t like cards,” Bernd replied.

“Fine sit there,” the man called back.

Bernd shook his head, he hadn’t bothered to learn their names and yet they call themselves communists. Bottles at their feet and cards in their hands. The very essence of false consciousness. Their actions only served to help the Bourgeois.

Sonchenland will never fall to the revolution at this rate, Bernd thought.

“WE WON’T LET THE REVOLUTION HAPPEN!” a voice boomed outside, “TUNE INTO CHURCH PARTY RADIO 7PM EVERY SUNDAY!”

“Those fuckers again?” the vested man replied standing up and walking to the window.

“DON’T LET THE REVOLUTION HAPPEN, BERND HEILMANN MUST BE CAUGHT!” the voice called out, “THE COMMUNISTS WILL NOT WIN! VOTE CHURCH PARTY!”

The vested man smiled and put on his cap with a red star, “let’s go teach those KKP a lesson.”

The other men smiled and put down their cards, “stay here comrade,” the vested man ordered.

Bernd sighed as the gang walked out the back door. A few moments later shouts were heard outside, “LIBERATE THE WORKER! FREEDOM FOR ALL!”

Within moments the two sides began shouting back and forth to each other. It quickly devolved into name calling as each side accused the other of treason. Occasional car honks could be heard as a driver gave support to one side or another.

“BASTARD,” one side called out before sounds of fighting broke out.

A rock managed to break through a window and startled Bernd. Moments later the gang came back in, this time through the front. The white shirted man had his hand on his left shoulder. While the vested man held his head. “Godamnit!” the vested man called out, before the gang broke out into laughter.

The men banaged themselves up before settling back down to their cards and bottles. Before long Luis entered through the back door, “what happened to you guys?” he asked at the sight of them.

“Just some fun with the KKP,” the vested man said laughing.

“What?” Luis said irritated, “did they see you come in here?”

“Prolly why does it matter,”

“Now they’ll have this place watched 24/7!” Luis replied, “Me and my friend here have to stay here a bit longer than I wanted to, but now we need to make sure they don’t see us! If you want to fight go do it somewhere else!”

The vested man grunted a sound of approval and returned to his game. Luis walked over to Bernd and handed him a ticket, “sorry but it’s the only way, we can’t walk all the way to the coast.”

“I understand,” Bernd replied taking the ticket into his coat pocket.

KKP is an abbreviation of
Kaiserliche Kirchenpartei, in english the Imperial Church Party. Other suggestions welcomed.

New Cuir, Amerce

"Good Evening Amerce, I'm Thomas Koch with the Amerce Broadcasting Company, here to deliver you the news. Our main news returns to the battlegrounds. In Brasilla a stalemate has broken out at the border. The Brasillian armed forces are battered but not defeated. Don't forget it was Akragaz that declared war, if they can't produce military victories, after the humiliating defeat they had early in the war it will cost them and Ithra political defeats! Both sides are digging in and preparing defenses, reminding the world of the Great War and it's trench warfare in Kyria. Meanwhile in Yunna, our reporters have had to leave Nanjing, some are in Tiangdu and others in the Yunnese Republic. These brave reporters have risked life and limb to bring us the news. Tiangdu is claiming that a breakthrough has occurred in the Nanjing line and that the area will fall in weeks. That shinese Air power and tanks have devastated the enemy and more troops have made landing due to the support of the Shinese navy. The Republican forces have mentioned the Nanjing front as being less than optimal, ABC cannot confirm these stories. Meanwhile the Republican forces are just a few miles away from Beijing. A strong push by the Republicans threaten the city but both Tiangdu and Shingou has stated that the fall of Beijing will not be the end of the war. Our reporters can confirm these stories as the artillery can be heard from the nearby port city of Tanijing. ABC is working with the Shinese government to make sure our reporters make it back safely should anything happen."

“It’s been quite a while since all of these nations were in a single meeting,” Prince Tristan Blum von Bavaria, head of the Imperial Diplomatic Corp, told Klement.

“Not since the end of the Great War,” Klement replied, “but hopefully this will be the first of many meetings.”

The Amerceian diplomat waited outside for the meeting to start, having been assigned to this meeting by the President of Amerce, while the Federal Commonwealth had been one of the two creators for this event, but a goal of the diplomat would be to keep Amerce interest open while still keeping this incoming organization intact.

The three Ergonian diplomats waited besides their cousins from across the Ithric. They looked a part of the Imperial stock, old gentlemen, puffing on Kuban stogies and portly and weaselly. The Lord Werwich, the Lord Newcastle, and Sir Oswald Akley. They had two interests at such a meeting; maintaining the status quo between the Entente and Central Powers, but foremost the preservation and empowerment of the Empire through diplomatic means. “Hopefully this rabble of slack-jawed Teutons and Yanks will come to a conclusion that the pconpie embargo of Vael is unlawful…” Lord Werwich muttered to Lord Newcastle, as they stood apart from their Teutonic cousins from the continent.

Nikitas Demetriopoulos sat with his aides with a smile, this time the Hegemon was not here so thus he could relax. Everyone in Ithra was skeptical of this forum, many doubted it would have allowed Ithra to get involved in the Akragaz-Brasilla conflict, but then again, it shouldn’t have any power over the conflict.

Rainer Metzinger was uneasy, his government was not entirely supportive of this forum. He could not have it interfere with plans in Lyria. Yet the geopolitical winds support this motion and Der Orden could not isolate itself from the Holy Caesii Empire.

Tokugawa Tessai waited for the meeting to start, annoyed at all the idle chatter in the room. He was here to protect the Shinese Empire’s goals in the Far East. And he’d be damned if any forum would be able to dictate what Shingou could and could not do.

André François-Poncet sat with an air of anxiousness pervading the air around him. He was present to ensure that Ausfon’s colonial and domestic interests were not undermined. He had doubts about the intentions of the powers behind the forum but held out hope that this would relieve the pressure to increase military spending back home.

“Diplomats! Diplomats!” Prince Tristan called out in Evetish, “please take your seats, we are about to begin this first meeting.”

There was some hurried scuttling as everyone took their seat, Tristan cleared his throat and then continued, “Welcome to the 1st meeting of the World Senate! I’m sure many of you have questions and concerns but we shall discuss and go through them. To begin you have all heard of the main goals of this forum. To be a place of discussion and debate among nations. Where conflicts can be determined peacefully and if that isn’t possible, conflicts can be contained and localized. Thus let the HCP propose their structure of the World Senate.”

Klement stood up and spoke into a microphone, “The World Senate will consist of two bodies, the Senate and the General Assembly, the Senate shall consist of us members and the general assembly shall consist of all other nations.”

“And what powers will be granted to us members of the World Senate, Herr Klement?” Lord Newcastle spoke up, the Ergonian delegation continuing to smoke in the chamber hall.

“The Senate shall be the main deciders, while the Senate and General assembly shall have independence, any disagreements on decisions will have an attempt to be resolved, but if 75% of us agree we can veto the General Assembly’s decision and declare ours the verdict of the forum,” Klement replied, “Furthermore the Senate approves applications to join but by unanimous vote. This is to prevent any rouge group from receiving legitimacy from this forum.”

Tessai slammed his fist on the table, “And why just us? Should not a nation like the Tiangdu Empire belong here? They control nearly 300M people and has been a historically strong nation.”

“I presume you mean the Yunnese Republic, Sir Tessai. As they are the legitimate government of Yunna after all” Akley smiled brazenly.

Tessai stood up at the table, “Ambassador Tessai,” Prince Tristan said calmly, “We simply cannot allow too many into the Senate. The Senate must be able to come to decisions quickly and calmly. Any more than 7 members and it might become difficult to give rulings. Now we can discuss entry and exit to the Senate.”

“Yes,” Klement answered after drinking some water, “The HCE would like to propose that temporary entrance can be awarded to 2 nations per conflict on condition that they are nearby the nations involved and have little to no stake in the conflict. Again by unanimous vote of the Permanent members. This is to help the Senate by having local voices among us.”

Tessai sat down, apparently satisfied, or at least enough to calm down, with the answers given.

“And what if a small regional conflict boils over into a Second Great War, what then Herr Klement? Any plans of arbitration or mediation to calm the warring parties? Or would this assembly simply be dissolved?” Lord Werwich asked, leaning onto the table, puffing on his Port Royal stogie.

“The point is to prevent another Great war,” Klement answered, “If a regional conflict occurs the World Senate would determine the scope and scale of the conflict. The belligerents agree to specific terms of combat and no further power should have a need of getting involved, with allies support determined by the World Senate.”

“Amerce believes that an organization like this is beneficial, we think that this could do well in calming things down in trying to stop any war that may come up in the future.” The Amercian diplomat, Nathaniel Forthwight spoke.

“Alright, are there any disagreements on the World Senate consisting of two bodies the Senate and the General Assembly as laid out earlier,” Prince Tristan asked.

“I see no issues with the current format as long as the senate's executive powers remain unchallenged and the members conform to the rules agreed upon, Ausfon would be happy to support such an organisation” André stated.

“This has been a fruitful meeting,” Tristan responded, “Let us meet again in May, in Amerce. We shall focus more on the specifics of the Senate and the General Assembly in that meeting. Deciding more rules and procedures for the two bodies.”

Civics Courses to be Promoted

20 April, 1935

The United States Department of Education announced this week that the Department will be mandating civics courses be taught in secondary schools across the nation. Though States are responsible for education, the Department of Education maintains a list of courses that students must study in order to graduate the public education system. In addition to courses in Evestish, Mathematics, History, and Sciences, Civic courses that discuss the U.S Constitution, the powers and limits of all levels of government, and political nature of the United States will be added to the cirriculum. The Department has permitted the states to begin rolling out such courses for the beginning of the 1936-1937 school year, in order to allow the states to have adequate time to develop and roll out the courses.

Police Department
Putgarten, Hohenberg
Holy Caesii Empire

Käsar downed a cup of coffee, he had spent the previous day travelling up to the coast. Some members of the Untereisenbahn were caught by local officials. They apparently helped some individuals launch a boat into the Baltic sea.

"These damn liberals," the chief detective stated, "they won't talk."

"Don't worry about it officer," Käsar replied, "we'll get them to talk."

The detectives entered the room where the identified leader of the band was being held. The leader was a blonde slim woman wearing a white shirt and dark pants with overalls. On the table was a flat cap and across from the individual was a public defender. "

"Officers," the public defenders said standing up and shaking hands.

"Defender," Käsar replied, "We'd like to ask a few questions."

The defender nodded and moved over to sit with his client while the detectives sat across from them.

"What is your name?" Käsar asked.

"Ester Steinberg," the leader replied

"Where were you on the night of the 24th?" Käsar asked.

"The beach," Ester replied.

"What were you doing on the beach?"

"Hanging with some friends."

"And what were your friends doing?"

"I decline to answer."

"Are you aware that unregistered boat launching violates Caesii law?"

"I am aware that it is a commonly unpunished misdemeanor,"

"Who were in the boat?"

"I decline to answer,"

"It is for their safety so we can find and guide them to coast,"

"I decline to answer,"

"Are you apart of the Untereisenbahn?"

"I decline to answer,"

"Are you aware that assisting and harboring an escaped serf can come with prison time?"

"No."

Käsar sighed, "The Imperial Police Corp currently has orders to investigation any potential leads into the Untereisenbahn, we are currently getting warrants for all individuals arrested last night. Your friend Bruno has been arrested before on actions similar to those of the Untereisenbahn. If you are convicted, you won't be able to help other individuals, and you won't be able to vote either. Are these individuals worth it? By helping us we can help you."

"You don't have to answer these questions," the defender responded.

Ester looked conflicted.

"If the KKP hear about an unauthorized boat ride they'll claim it's apart of the communist revolution," the chief officer replied, "misdemeanors are public knowledge."

"Fine," Ester replied, "two individuals left on the boat, one was named Luis, the other did not give his name. They left for Sweden."

Käsar raised his eyebrows and wondered, "Do you mind looking at some drawings?"

The chief officer was surprised by this, "what pictures?"

Käsar pulled out of his bag a folder and unveiled 5 different drawings of a man, the same man but under different disguises. "Do any of these look familiar?"

"No," Ester replied, "It was dark, Luis did all the work, the other guy just stood around, well he took some pictures, of us, of me, the boat. It was pretty fun."

Käsar's eyes widen as the information dawned on him, the detective stood up and ran out the door, "HEY!" the chief officer called back.

"Captain what's wrong?" Stefan asked seeing the racket.

"I need an urgent wire to the ICP," Käsar replied, "NOW!"

The department offered him a secure line for Käsar to make his call, "Lieutenant, I believe the serf in Putgarten was Bernd sir. One of the members stated an unnamed individual took pictures of them. Sweden and Goldritter need to be alerted."

Telegram to Goldritter and Sweden-Norway
Urgent call to be on the look out for Bernd Heilmann. Intelligence suggest heading towards Sweden by boat. Might be heading towards Vael. Might have sensitive Caesii information. Extradition requested upon capture.

April 27th 1935
Baltic Sea

Bernd was a bit nervous, they had been sailing for the past 2 days, and were beginning to run low on supplies. Luis was sitting below deck messing with a radio.

the sun was hot and sweat was pouring down Bernd's brow between his eyes and sunglasses, "Luis, where are we?"

"Don't worry about it, the Swedish Untereisenbahn are on their way," Luis said with a positive tone.

Bernd was filled with doubt but turned around and laid down on the deck. The hours passed as their boat gently drifted forward in the wind. Bernd dozing in and out of sleep.

"HEJ!" a voice called out waking Bernd up.

Luis emerged from below deck and waved at the ship approaching them. It was a much bigger ship than the one Bernd was sailing on. The two ships approached each other and a tow line was attached while an anchor was dropped.

"Come on Bernd, get your things we're changing ships," Luis ordered

Bernd nodded and grabbed his bags and camera, and jumped to the other ship. Turning around the photographer took a picture of their old boat.

"You like taking pictures huh?" one of the Swedes with a long beard asked.

"Yes," Bernd replied.

The sun was beginning to set while the members unloaded the old ship, Bernd watched with curiosity as Luis spilled oil all over the old ship. Luis threw the canister onto the deck and jumped aboard the new ship, the tow lines were cut and the bearded man threw his cigar onto the boat. Flames lit up immediately and the new ship began racing forward.

"Won't that attract the authorities?" Bernd questioned.

"Aye, it'll attract them to that spot, but as night falls they won't be able to see us moving across the water. Now it's best you two get below deck, it isn't easy smuggling individuals across the border."

Amerce Military Command, Washington District
Operation: West Wind

In one of the rooms of the Amerce High command complex outlayed a map of the lands that layed to the east of Amerce. With that around the map stood a number of generals all of which looking over a number of papers in relation to the forces of the east. With the south secured for now, it was now time to shift back north and to the east to the states of Illuska and the natives. While the standing government of Amerce was not open to wars or the idea of preparing for them, the more militaristic faction pushed for a larger expansion of the military.

“So we are in agreement for a push in the north, yes? Crossing the great lakes into Mishkodewin would be a powerful push, opening up a second front would pull more forces away from the main front.” Senior General Burdett said.

Another General, General Williams nodded, “Yes along with us owning the skies in the opening hours and days it’s very likely we can delay the enemy before a response can be handed out. Aniya’s Airforce is but 10 planes, the new A-17’s or the B-10’s could knock them out of the fight, which would just leave the Illuskan Airpower in the fight which would take some time to get to the front.”

Burdett thought about it for a second, “Another problem would be the tanks that both Sakowi and Aniya, that force numbers in 250 total tanks. And there are likely more to be built in the coming years. Let alone whatever Illuska brings in.”
