Shingou

The order was given for the 2nd Army of Shingou to embark to the city of Fuzhou escorted by the 2nd fleet. There they would work with the logistic forces to prepare a field runway outside the city of Fuzhan for airwings 3a and 3b of the Fuijan air division. The expected time to finish would be towards the end of February. Meanwhile the Fuijian air division would begin making sure all pilots had training in ki-4 recon and operating recon missions.

Furthermore the port city of Fuzhou would now now act as the main supply depot of the Shinese forces in Southern Yunna. As such the logistic forces of the 4th and 5th army would transition to the new supply routes.

Fuzhou would also serve as a city for refugees, where the Shinese military would distribute food to the hungry.

The King of Jütland, Gustin Wilhelm marched towards the København Castle, with the Royal Guard on his flanks. The weather was nice and warm, with a low breeze sweeping the countryside beyond on this January the 12th, 1935. After progessing through the Castle Grounds, the King eventually makes his way inside the castle, and towards the Royal Meeting Room.

In the meeting room sat the Cabinet of Jütland. The Prime Minister, a Minister of Defence and Minister for Seafaring, Thorvald Stauning, sat at the other end of the King. Beside him were the other two other Ministers, Laust Rasmussen, a Defence Minister, and Defence and Finance Minister, Hans Peter Hansen.
Next to the King were the two most loyal Ministers, Carl Theodor Zahle, the Minister of Justice, and Kristen Bording, the Minister for Agriculture.
And in the two middle seats sat the Minister of Industry and Seafaring, C.N Hauge, and the Minister of the Interor, Bertel Dahlgaard.

While the meeting was occuring, the non-present Ministers, such as the Minister of Public Works, Johannes Friis-Skotte, the Minister for Education, Frederik Borgbjerg, the Minister for Social Affairs,Karl Kristian Steincke, and the Minister for Ecclesiastical Affairs, Peter Dahl, all were out on diplomatic missions.

The mission for Johannes was a large one, one which should be taken as extremely important. The message to be sent read the following:
Dear Kingdom of Sweden,

The Kingdom of Jütland welcomes you to a project that is planned.
This project is a bridge, going from the Jütland peninsula, to the Copenhagen islands, and even perhaps Sweden.
This may cost both of our nations, however the benefits would be great. Hundreds of builders would be employed to build the large bridge and maintain it, it will ease Citizen access to our two nations, ease access to the Danish areas overall, and will heavily promote our Motor Industry.

Furthermore, the King of Jütland and the country's cabinet invites you for a meeting at Copenhagen about the matter, if you are interested, of course.

We look forward to hearing back for you.

- The Kingdom of Jütland

The investigation into the assassination of the crown prince had been quite for a while, as a variety of sting operations and arrests were made in quite. But now was the day everyone had long waited for. The ones that had ordered the assassination had been caught weeks ago and even now the press was only alerted hours ago. Käsar and Ernst stood in the gallery watching the suspects as that walked in. The lowly lot of greasy common thugs somberly walked forward into the the glaring sight of fate and utter damnation.“Godforsaken traitors! You will be dragged through Hell’s coals!” shouted Ernst as he spat towards the unwashed flock of communists.

The leader of the group, a young tallish woman glared at Ernst. Before Judge Moldenhauer stood up and scolded “Have ye no honor and restraint detective Hevdrich? Ashur will decide their fate, no need for this tomfoolery!”

The defendants made their way to the front and sat down, the Judge took out some glasses from a pocket and read some papers, “You all stand here accused of a series of heinous crimes, assasination of a crown prince, smuggling contraband, escaping a manor, illegal exit and entry, and a few others.”

Of the group of traitors, a man of slight and portly stature stood quaking and slowly weeping as he stood before Judge Muldenhauer

“Pathetic…” the Judge whispered beneath his breath, “Let us stand and ask Ashur for guidance,”

The Gallery stood up and together all save the young woman said, “Oh blessed Ashur and The Holy Mother, guide our sword true! Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done! Expose the villainy in our midst. Deliver us from evil and towards the Grand Inquisitor and Your Light!”

“Let us begin…” the Judge said grimly that sent shivers down the communists’ spines, “How do you plead Detlev of House Rossel?”

“Not Guilty,” Detlev replied

“How do you plead Gotthard of House Ehrenpreis?”

“Not Guilty,” Gotthard stated

“How do you plead, Elsa of House Tsanneburg?”

“Not Guilty,” Elsa announced.

“How do you plead, Oscar of House Thalberg?”

“Not Guilty,” Oscar replied.

“And you, Tori of House Gailinger?”

The young woman stood up and turned to the gallery, “Guilty as charged, just like my cowards of accomplices.”

The shivering portly accomplice’s jaw dropped in a display of ultimate betrayal as the others looked on coldly. Gasps and shouts broke out across the gallery, the other defendants grabbed at Tori, and Judge Muldenhauer slammed his gavel, “Order! Order! By Ashur order!”

“I ask this once and only once young lady,” Muldenhauer said, “do you plead guilty and testify against these four the crimes alleged?”

“Yes,” Tori responded before turning to the gallery again, “let it be known that our deaths will be the beginning of a revolution!”

The gallery was stunned, “Your veil threats wouldn’t work on the true Knights of Ashur, our armor of the spirit is too righteous for your intimidations…” the Judge confidently fired back, “may the looming sword of Ashur cleave your damned souls intwine! Guilty on all accounts!”

Ernst stood up and started clapping, The Judge looked at the detective with a new found approval as the gallery joined the noble detective’s celebration, “I sentence all 5 of you to be hanged at noon.”

Conston, Greater Ergonia - 5th of Januaury, 1935

brong... brong... brong...
Bells across the city toll in mourning for the late King-Emperor of Greater Ergonia, as grey rain clouds rolled overhead. The city had not seen such solemness since the death of Queen-Empress Gloriana at the turn of the century, happier times when Ergonia ruled the world and was unchallenged on land and sea…

***

"We're nearly to Queen's Cross, your Majesty" John announces, entering the carriage, brushing the droplets of rain off his dossier. "Thank you, John..." David responded with a sigh, his hands linked with his wife’s as their children played in the back seats. "After our arrival, we will be heading straight for the palace. Prime Minister MacHardeen requests an audience with you as soon as possible" John says, taking a seat across from the newly made King and Queen. David nods, and looks out the window, the urban sprawl and smog of Conston coming into view. "What a wretched city to raise the children in" Mary mumbles, shaking her head. For years they were hoping that his father would make it to at least 80 so that they may raise their little family away from Conston... But it seems God had other plans.

***

Coming to a gradual halt, the train came into Queen's Cross Station, the platform itself was crowded with hundreds of people, kept back by troops of the Royal Guard, all wearing black armbands. "Well... We best not keep them waiting" David groaned, pushing himself up, followed by his wife and children. "Be on your best behavior children" Mary whispered back to them as they exited the carriage.

Slowly, the Royal Family step off the train and onto the platform, becoming the center of the mourning attention, the crowds looking to their new sovereign and removing caps and bowing their heads. This young man and his children represented the future, and the very nation itself…

The Royal Guards marched forward, and cleared the way for their King as the Royals slinked behind them, no pomp nor circumstance. And as they approached the cold dreary streets of Conston, the hordes of David’s subjects grew and grew. The same tactful and respectful mourning as inside.

“Your Majesty…” a portly man calls, bowing to the King. “I have been sent to chauffeur you to Suffingham Palace right away. On the urging of the Lord-Chancellor” the man said, gesturing to the puttering Rolls-Royce. “And what of my wife and children?” David asked furrowing his brown brow.

“A car is on the way to drive her Majesty and the young Princes and Princesses to Suffingham” the man said politely, slowly taking off his hat. David looked at Mary, and she smiled and gave him a nod. With a sigh, the young King followed the man and entered the car.

Suffingham Palace

With a sigh, David sat in an armchair in the Eastern reading room. He hadn’t been in here since, well the reign of his Grandfather. He looked outside, at the cold, grey and inhospitable city of Conston, and shivered at the sight alone. His wife was right. This city was just abysmal…

As he slowly grew comfy waiting in the chair, the doors swung open, causing him to bounce up from his seat as the Lord-Steward entered and bowed. “Lord-Chancellor MacHardeen your Majesty” he says, as MacHardeen followed, the doors closing behind him.

“Your Majesty” Charles said with a low bow, and approached the King. “Lord-Chancellor…” David said back, extending his hand cautiously. Charles took it, and kissed the air above it.”May I offer my most sincere apologies on the passing of your father. After years of service to King Edmund, we had become close friends” Charles said, placing his hands behind his back. “Thank you, Chancellor MacHardeen” David said with a brief smile, and sat down, MacHardeen doing so opposite of him.

“As your Majesty knows, we must put together a list of foreign dignitaries to invite to the funeral for the late King Edmund. As such, my office has put together one. I hope it is to your liking” The Lord-Chancellor spoke, pulling a folded piece of paper out of his coat pocket and handing it to the King, unraveling it and quickly began to read it.

“The Dominions, Amaurtia, Ausfon, Amerce, the Princes of the Raj… What about my cousins in Goldritter and the Kaiserreich?” David asked, looking up from the paper. “Your Majesty, the people of the Empire still view the Kaiserreich with suspicion after the Great War. It would just cause a row if they saw the Kaiser marching behind you and the King’s gun carriage…” Charles responded, clasping his hands in his lap. “Yet that did not stop my Grandfather from inviting Kaiser Franz to the funeral of Queen Gloriana?” David responded, refolding the list.

“Well yes, Your Majesty, yet that was prior to the Great War. When there was still confidence in House Schwerinburg” MacHardeen says, shrugging. “Kaiser Martin is still a cousin of House Brunay-Bonbry, and as such I expect him to be invited to my father’s funeral…” David retorts, laying the paper on the table between them. “But Your Majes-“ Charles got out, before taking a deep breath. “It will be done, your Majesty…”

Jan 21st 1935
Hamburg Train Depot
Jutland

The Kaiser sat in his special coach as the train stopped in Hamburg. He was on his way to meet the King of Sweden. His small desk was filled with different papers of varying importance. The Kaiser never got a moment's rest, "Father! Father!" Prince Martin, son of Princess Olga called, "I have the newspaper!"

The young prince was dressed like a regular teenager, "Reiner what have I said about leaving the train?"

"Nobody recognized me Grandfather! see I am all dressed up!"

Kaiser Martin smiled and patted his grandson on the head, "you are quite smart for your age. What does the paper have to say today?"

Assassins to be hung. They claim revolution is in our midst.

The Kaiser sighed, justice has been brought to the Goldhart family.

--------

Jan 21st 1935
Imperial Church Party HQ
Alten-Lindenstadt

Assassins to be hung. They claim revolution is in our midst. Yesterday morning the Kripo police announced to the press that they had arrested 5 suspects that they believed to be behind the assassination of the crown prince and the attempted asssassination of the Kaiser. The 4 of the suspects pled not guilt but the fifth owned up to crimes with an evil satisfaction. Betraying her comrades and testifying against them. Tori, an escaped serf from House Gailinger (an offshoot of house Tsanneburg), represents the complete debauchery of Bolshevism.

Anton Drexler slammed the paper down and ordered, "call a meeting of the officers!"

A few hours later the officer corp of the Imperial Church Party's Sturmabteilung had gathered in the main hall. Anton greeted them from the top of the grand staircase.
"Heil Ashur! Heil Martin! Heil Anton!" the officers greeted the politician, their arms extended palms upright.

"I call this meeting today because of the news from Goldritter, the assassins that killed the crown prince will be hung," Anton declared.

The officers cheered and hollered at the news, "Indeed brothers! This is good news! But Bolsheviks are tricky conniving villains! While we do not condone the system of serfdom, the Bolsheviks cheer it on in the belief it will cause more to their ways. Let everyone know, in every duchy, margrave, county, and city that the Imperial Church Party will stop this revolution they claim! Let fear of Bolshevism drive this election cycle! Let there be no Caesii man that isn't afraid of these satanic evils. And let them know that only we, the Imperial Church Party can stop them!"

"Heil Ashur! Heil Martin! Heil Anton!"

The Meeting of Stockholm

Postby Albanions » Sun May 10, 2020 11:29 am

Jan 24th1935
Stockholm Palace
Stockholm, Sweden
Knock, knock
“Kaiser Martin is here to meet with you,” a female clerk stated.
“Let him in,” King Charles responded.
Martin stepped into the room and Charles bowed to the Kaiser.
“No need for that Your Highness, we are both kings here,” Martin stated, “now what has the King of Sweden invited me up here for?”
“We both know these are troubling times I invited you here so we could talk about how our two great nations could become even greater and how our alliance could get an advantage in case of an upcoming war,” Charles stated, gesturing for the Kaiser to sit down.
“Understandable,” Martin replied after sitting down, “The Caesii Empire has long held strong relations with Sweden. You are a member of the Holy Central Powers. If you need any equipment you are free to purchase from us.”
“I thank you for the offer our generals shall discuss how my military could incorporate new technologies,” Charles said, “but more importantly, recent events, Amaurita joining the Entente, Kurgan joining the HCP. It is only a matter of time before Norway picks a side.”
“Hmm,” the Kaiser responded, “Norway has been a neutral nation for a while but yes they are the last remaining nation in Eastern Kyria that has not joined either side.”
Charles nodded and said, “I see clearly we have two options as we can not attack a neutral country. Either we get closer to Norway including them to our sphere of influence or we come to an agreement with Greater Ergonia this way we could unify the north by also essaying the tensions between the two Major factions this way we could delay the upcoming war so that we could better prepare our militarys.”
Martin shook his head, “I could not see Ergonia coming to an agreement on Norway. It would threaten their access to the oil fields of the North Sea. Vael would also not want to lose Norway. The best we could do is seek to convince Norway to join the side of the Holy Central Powers.”
Charles nodded, “I agree with your decision as a peaceful incorporation of Norway in to the Holy Central Powers would spare man and equipment.”
“I am glad we are on the same page,” Kaiser Martin stated, “Perhaps Sweden should consider joining the Oil Cartel PCONPIE with Der Orden and Nator State? Sweden is an oil producer and would benefit from the Cartel.”
“Sweden has been considering the move,” Charles replied, “but your advice might just push us to commit. Thank you for your time Kaiser "

Jan 22nd, 1935
Alten-Lindenstadtt, Holy Caesii Empire

The Weather to be expected this time of year in Alten Lindenstätt-am-Oder was cold, with a light snowfall last night. Nearby to the Brandenburg Gate in a local cafe, reading an Amercian novel, was Edward, still carrying out his task for Amerce. He pulled out a pocket watch, 5 minutes past 2 his contact was supposed to be here 20 minutes ago.

“Uh,” a young adult stammered out in poor Evetish, “Are-are you, Edward?”

Edward looked up from his novel at the young adult that appeared, he gave the man a look up and down before answering. “Yes, I happen to be and you are?”

“Bernd Heilmann,” the young man stuttered out then in a hushed voice, “I work in the Army. I was instructed to meet with an Amercian here.”

Edward gave the man a look of annoyance, but some leniency was to be called for given the reports he had. He closed his book and motioned to the table and a seat. “Well I was under the impression of meeting a man of the name of Bernd, but I would recommend you pick your words carefully, as to make sure that others do not see our conversation in a negative manner. Perhaps we should move to a more private location?”

Bernd was a bit nervous, but he had no other option than to trust the foreigner, “Agreed.”

Edward let the way back to the hotel he was staying at in Alten-Lindenstadtt, having to reassure Bernd more than once that they were safe, once back to the hotel. Edward locked the door and asked Bernd “do you have it? And can I see it?”

Bernd walked over to the bed and opened his briefcase, there were a collection of vanilla folders, with what appeared to be pictures loosely contained inside. “And the payment?”

Edward walked over to the Folders looking into one of them to confirm the contents before heading over to his briefcase and opening it up and going into a hidden part of the case pulling out a small stack of Amerce money handing it to him. “This is the start of it, once all is said and done there will be more provided to you.”

Bernd took the money, all the bills were $100, and guessed that there was $10,000 in total, “I put myself in a lot of risk to get these to you. And now I just have to trust that there will be more?”

Edward straightened the folders and placed them in his briefcase, “Yes, we must verify that these documents are worth the expenses. That is all, my vacation is over now.”

"This nation has the means to end this war in a definitive and elegant manner, we seek not destruction and conflict but a balance of power and restoration to peace, and it will be done with reason and justice from beginning to end, and the world will be grateful, only then will they see the way to true peace."

"They paint us as if we have lost the democratic traditions this nation was founded on, that can not, is not, further from the truth in this nation, do they not know what we went through? the 30 years of war that was started by men who did not listen to the people? This Republic will weather the storm, we will fight to the death and win, then welcome our enemies into our great state."

Jan 20th 1935
Hohmessinger Stronghold
Wihel Vontaine, Goldritter
5:06 PM

A grand feast is taking place to celebrate the birthday of Prince Dietrich von Hohenzollern, the eldest living son of Kaiser Wolfgang after the passing of Crown Prince Prince Romulus.

The lavish birthday feast takes place in the throne room of the Hohmessinger Stronghold. Kaiser Wolfgang and Kaiserin Katherina, as well as the rest of the Hohenzollerns, are sitting at an opulently decorated table facing the sprawling tables of courtier guests and entertainers. The food is exotic and almost absurdly extravagant just for the sake of it. Peacock, swan, elk, boar, and mutton were all prepared in lavish bulk for the absurdly extravagant affair.

Not to long into the merriment, Helmut von Hohenzollern, one of Kaiser Wolfgang’s sons, busted into the Throne Room.

“Father!” the young man cried.

“You’re a little late to the party, Helmut…” playfully teased the Kaiser.

“They were found guilty! All five of the traitors!!!! They have been sentenced to be hanged at noon!” Helmut shouted with glee.

The Kaiser threw the drumstick he was eating into the air and shouted "Huzzah! Justice has been brought to our house!!!” Wolfgang was so ecstatic, he broke into an impromptu flamenco dance, spinning around on his heels and clicking his fingers out of sheer unchained celebration. Kaiserin Katherina began to cry tears of joy before her husband playfully spun her around out of happiness.

“Oh stop it Wolfie” she lightheartedly said as she gently slapped his cuirass.

“Our son is avenged Katherina… We finally have justice!” the Kaiser boldly bellowed as he gently held her.

The party guests stood up and cheered for the revelation. The Kaiser raised his wine glass, “to justice my friends! To justice!”

“Here! Here!” the room boomed as the aristocrats raised their fine drinks and drunk to the Judge’s sentence.

The only easy year
Jan 25, 1935
Amerce Central Government Zone, Washington

“And what of to the south the dual Republic, on the north coast of Lyria.” The Amerce Secretary of State Cordell Hull paused before pulling some papers forward. “Kalingo and Abomayan? We could extend an invite to the W.K.M.A. And it would be a good idea to extend a bit more south then Kuba and Eldenia in the future.”
The president then spoke his voice giving away his tiredness from the recent days of busy work in preparation for a large meeting with the other two members of the W.K.M.A. “Well the congress gave me and this cabinet a lot of leeway in terms of what happened with the W.K.M.A it’s very likely that they will want to pull that power back. But in that regard, I’m sure that they will allow us to carry through with the inviting than in, then it would just be left to Kuba and Modeisa to vote to let then in.”
General Maurice followed quicky behind in adding “The adding of those two nations would also make for good forward position against Ithran lands in Lyria and the Mogitites if a war were to break out.”
The president put his head into his hand and looked at General Maurice “I don’t want to think about that at this time if we are going to bring them in I want them to be seen as allies not as nations to be used in games against the Ithran or the Mogitites.”

Budget, January 27th, 1935

Postby Cotour » Sun May 10, 2020 7:16 pm

Image

The Budget has been increased by 646.275 million yuan. This has been accompanied by a 720.525 million yuan tax increase.

With considerable expansion having already been undertaken, and due to corruption concerns, the education budget has been slightly lowered. The basic goal remains of basic education for all people, however higher education facilities may be more limited.

There has been a large expansion in the use of ZH-29s and QCQ-34s. Zh-29s prove to be a much better rifle than the already good QBL-24, and is semi-automatic, providing a higher rate of fire. The QCQ-34 is a quite rudimentary submachine gun, but is effective in use with shock troops.

Law Enforcement in the NPF is made up of a small, but organized police force. A small armed police force, the Peoples’ Armed Police (PAP) is also present, meant to deal with domestic terrorists or high-profile cases, yet their usual work is policing ports of entry. They are currently working to catch remaining sonacists who have attempted to flee.

The Bureaucracy budget has been greatly increased in order to provide for greater corruption oversight. Many communist party members have refused to receive pay, instead sending it to other departments for better use for the nation as a whole.

Agriculture funding has been separated from Commerce spending due to large increases from the previous NPF. While the NPF focused on cities and urban areas, the CPY has turned its attention towards rural areas. Commercial spending remains largely to assist industry and businesses.

With the large tax increases, the new burden falls on farmers. However, agriculture spending compensates them, by using their tax money to provide them with tools and fertilizer, greatly improving their ability to harvest, and their yields.

Healthcare was provided to urban areas under the NPF, but rural areas were largely ignored. The CPY has mandated health standards for rural areas. They have been instructed to kill pests such as rats and mosquitoes, and to avoid using sewage as fertilizer, or contaminating water with it. Village doctors have been instructed to travel to more remote areas to spread the word.

A relatively large portion of spending is spent on Science and Technology as it is believed to be essential to growth. Yunna was once a forerunner in technology hundreds of years ago, yet in the past hundred years they have fallen behind. Agricultural technologies are one of the focuses, as improving the efficiency of agriculture will lead to more peasants being able to work in factories. Military technology is also a point of investment. Military scientists continue working on developing an indigenous tank, alongside improvements for existing weapons with input from the soldiers. Communications technologies are also extremely important. Science and Technology are necessary for societal advancement, and spending is allocated to a multitude of different projects

Many cities still do not have proper pipework for running water, and in rural areas it’s nearly noon-existent. Expansion plans are limited due to corruption concerns due to precedent from the NPF. Therefore, expansion shall continue at a steady rate, without chance for excess. Basic electric power stations are also beginning to provide electricity to cities. There has also been research into possible alternative electricity sources, as oil is expensive, and can only be sourced through land trade due to the Shinese blockade. Coal imported from MHD makes up the majority of energy production. Infrastructure spending has been incorporated into Public Services.

Culture and Media is largely meant to organize public gatherings and celebrations, maintain a news station, and provide radios for public areas. It focuses on planning staffing, and organizing all kinds of celebrations and cultural events.

Many issues have been caused by the recent civil turmoil and corruption exposure, however funds seized from the corrupt and beginning of year taxes have been immediately deployed to assist those that are struggling. Tens of millions have been sent to affected areas, with oversight ensuring all who need it receive it.
"A revolution is not a dinner party, or writing an essay, or painting a picture, or doing embroidery. It cannot be so refined, so leisurely and gentle, so temperate, kind, courteous, restrained and magnanimous. A revolution is an insurrection, an act of violence by which one class overthrows another." ~ Mao Zedong

To the National Government of Kinania:

The United States, as your neighbor, would like to consider the formation of a defensive pact with Kinania. Given the economic and military strength of our respective nations in this region of the world, a defensive pact would serve our respective nations a multitude of benefits to both Kinania and the United States of Amaurita.

I eagerly await your response.

Jan 30th 1935
Imperial Palace
Salzburg, Austria
Holy Caesii Empire

Kaiser Martin returned to his office, exhausted after his travels. News reached him yesterday of the defense pact between Sweden and Norway. If relations continued to improve it would hopefully eliminate a possible front should war break out. The busy Kaiser sat down on his chair and rubbed his forehead. A modern Kaiser, he had always wondered if his predecessors were this busy. In a short time the Saint Valentine's day ball would occur again in Goldritter.

Knock, Knock

"A letter from the Imperial Diplomatic Corp has arrived, Your Majesty," the clerk stated

"Come in," the Kaiser replied.

The clerk entered the room and curtsied before handing the Kaiser the letter.

To the Imperial Government,
Caesii Diplomats have secured a defense pact with Eldenia due to growing fears over the WKMA. Initial responses from Der Orden are positive of this news. The Imperial Diplomatic corp notes this will worsen relations with Amerce.

The Kaiser nodded and wrote an order allowing the press to announce the defensive pact, but to stress the importance that the HCE has no quarrels with the Federal Commonwealth of Amerce. The purpose of the defense pact is to secure Eldenian Sovereignty.

Jan 30th 1935 0015

Billarm Bruster was driving home from his job at the Waste Treatment Facility (WTF). Despite the Shinese best efforts to modernize Nator State along Painswick road they still hadn't yet put streetlights. He had picked up a hitchhiker on his way, Claire Petty.

"I'm Claire Petty and you must be"-she raised her eyes from his professional symbols-"the water operator." Her voice trailed off.

"How oddly you say that."

"I'd-I'd have known it with my eyes shut," she said, slowly.

"What-the smell of Ferric Chloride? Nothing on earth smells quit like it." he laughed. "You never wash it off completely."

"No, you don't," she said, in awe.

He felt she was shaking him quietly, and emptying his pockets, without once moving herself.

"Ferric Chloride," he said, because the silence had lengthened, "is nothing but perfume to me."

"Does it seem like that, really?"

"Of course. Why not?"

She gave herself time to think of it. "I don't know."

What are you doing out so late wandering around? How old are you?" He knew she was working his questions around, seeking the best answers she could possibly give.

"Well," she said, "I'm seventeen and I'm crazy. My uncle says the two always go together. When people ask your age, he said, always say seventeen and insane. I'm glad you picked me up. Sometimes stay up all night, walking, and watch the sun rise." They drove on in silence and finally she said, thoughtfully, "You know, I'm not afraid of you at all."

He was surprised. "Why should you be?"

"So many people are. Afraid of water operators and the water, I mean. But you're just a man, after all..." He saw himself in her eyes, suspended in two shining drops of bright water, himself dark and tiny, in fine detail, the lines about his mouth, everything there, as if her eyes were two miraculous bits of violet amber that might capture and hold him intact. Her face, turned to him now, was fragile milk crystal with a soft and constant light in it. It was not the hysterical light of electricity but-what? But the strangely comfortable and rare and gently flattering light of the candle. One time, when he was a child, in a power-failure, his mother had found and lit a last candle and there had been a brief hour of rediscovery, of such illumination that space lost its vast dimensions and drew comfortably around them, and they, mother and son, alone, transformed, hoping that the power might not come on again too soon .... And then Claire Petty said: "Do you mind if I ask? How long have you worked at being a water operator ?"

"Since I was twenty, ten years ago."

"Do you ever drink the water you clean?"

He laughed. "Naturally"

"Oh. Of course."

He laughed.

She glanced quickly over. "Why are you laughing?"

"I don't know." He started to laugh again and stopped "Why?"

"You laugh when I haven't been funny and you answer right off. You never stop to think what I've asked you."

"You are an odd one," he said, looking at her. "Haven't you any respect?"

"I don't mean to be insulting. It's just, I love to watch people too much, I guess."

"Well, doesn't this mean anything to you?" He tapped seal of Nator State stitched on his sleeve.

"Yes," she whispered. "Have you ever seen the sports cars racing on the road?

"You're changing the subject!"

"I sometimes think drivers don't know what grass is, or flowers, because they never see them slowly," she said. "If you showed a driver a green blur, Oh yes! he'd say, that's grass! A pink blur? That's a rose garden! White blurs are houses. Brown blurs are cows. My uncle drove slowly on a highway once. They jailed him for two days. Isn't that funny, and sad, too?"

"You think too many things," said Bruster, uneasily.

"I rarely watch the TV or go to races or sports games. So I've lots of time for crazy thoughts, I guess. Did you know the Nator State Guard disguised as Jara soldier attack a mental health unit killing 2,900 Nator State citizens in May of last year?"

"I didn't know that!" Bruster laughed abruptly.

"Bet I know something else you don't. There's dew on the grass in the morning." He suddenly couldn't remember if he had known this or not, and it made him quite irritable. "And if you look"-she nodded at the sky-"there's a man in the moon." He hadn't looked for a long time.

"There's a dog. I'm going to pull over but you don't have to get it with me." The light from the moon illuminated the canine in question. It was a large white dog standing by the road in the open field surrounded by woods. There were no houses or businesses around. Bruster made a sound of disgust. "Someone must have dumped it. Poor thing's just waiting on his owner to come back."

As Bruster parked the car, he kept his eyes on it and unbuckled his seat belt. Now that they were parked, he could make out just how far they were. The field was huge. The dog must be at least a football field away. Claire Petty frowned, "Maybe I will go with you, if you want?"

"Nah, it's ok, I'll be right back."

He stepped out. The dog stayed seated, staring into the road. It was easy to locate, being so bright in the middle of the dark field, but he couldn't really make out what type of dog it was. Claire Petty open the car door. She seemed to remember something and came back to look at him with wonder and curiosity. "Are you happy?" she said.

"Am I what?" he cried. But she shut the car door gently "Happy! Of all the nonsense." He stopped laughing. "Of course I'm happy. What does she think? I'm not? he asked the quiet night." What a strange meeting on a strange night. He remembered nothing like it save one afternoon a year ago when he had met an old man in the park and they had talked .... Bruster shook his head. He looked at a paved road. The girl's face was there, really quite beautiful in memory: astonishing, in fact. She had a very thin face like the dial of a small clock seen faintly in a dark room in the middle of a night when you waken to see the time and see the clock telling you the hour and the minute and the second, with a white silence and a glowing, all certainty and knowing what it has to tell of the night passing swiftly on toward further darknesses but moving also toward a new sun. "What?" asked Bruster of that other self, the subconscious idiot that ran babbling at times, quite independent of will, habit, and conscience. He glanced back at the road. How like a mirror, too, her face. Impossible; for how many people did you know that refracted your own light to you? How rarely did other people's faces take of you and throw back to you your own expression, your own innermost trembling thought? He whistled, walking forward slowly to make sure he didn't step on anything in the tall grass. The dog turned it's head towards him and stood abruptly. The shape of it in the moonlight made Bruster stop in his tracks. The white dog was large, very large, but with extremely long legs. He couldn't be sure, but from the distance, it's legs looked longer and more slender than a greyhound's. Bruster squinted at it before calming Himself and taking a few more steps. Hesitantly, He whistled again. "Hey, buddy, come here!" The dog arched its back and took a step towards Him. He froze. Why was it moving like that? It was dark, but, it looked like it's legs were sort of, bending backwards, and He had never seen a dog arch it's back to walk before... He swallowed and took a couple more steps forward. Bruster thought to himself "It's just a dog. It's just dark, I can't see it that well." He whistled again, this time with a dry mouth. A sound barely came out. Suddenly, another car passed by, illuminating the dog. It was too tall. Too long. Twisted crookedly at the back and limbs. It looked up at the car and turned towards the woods to run, running with backwards legs, just as it had walked.

Bill Armbruster was horrible bored by his new job as a knight of the Knightly order of the Actuarian but at least he wasn't a gorilla. Although acting was his occupation he enjoyed writing as a hobby. So he had wrote this.

Did you think that they would?
January, 31th 1935
Amerce High Command, Washington

MacArthur was sitting at his desk going over a set of paperwork for an expansion of Amerce’s Army and Army Air Force. It was tight Amerce’s industry had a limited time to get online but the factories were outputting the planes that were needed for the Air Force, he was lucky that the Army could be expanded without much problem, it would just take time to build up the force and train them, but that could be done by October and November. Then the Forces would be given time to set up for operations against Eldenia. That was when a knock came to the door, MacArthur was not expecting anyone, most of his meeting had already been cleared, but if he had to guess it was something important, that was was another knock came to the door. He called to it “Come in, and what is it your bring to me?” The door opened when one of MacArthur’s senor aids came in holding a folder, “This just came in from the OAI.” MacArthur took the folder and opened it. “It happened yesterday, and both the congress and president are likely to have this as well by this time, sir.” MacArthur did not really care about the rest of the report, though he would read it later the only words that matter were.

Caesii Diplomats have secured a defense pact with Eldenia

This was going to be a long few weeks, dealing all that this matter meant to Western Kykia. However, MacArthur was hopeful that parties would see the light to this.

A bright-full future
February 1st,1935
Sarmisegetuza, Modesia

It was an overcast day in Sarmisegetuza, the capital city deep inside of Modesia, hints of the sun breaking through to the ground were apparent. However, this overcast would fade away by the time the 1st meeting of the W.K.M.A was to meet at 2 pm. Within the halls of Albodava military personnel and civilian representatives would meet to discuss plans for greater cooperation for the next few years between Amerce, Modesia, and Kuba.
At 2 pm the meeting began with the Chief of Amerce’s Army General MacArthur speaking, “I can not say how proud I am to be here with all of you, today marks a great day in the history of Kykia, for now, we have the structures to protect and expand out into Kykia to protect against foreign influences.” With his intro conceded, the conference broke part into their own meetings to discuss plans on greater cooperation.
Within one of the meetings, the high ranking personnel of Amerce, Modesia, and Kuba were sitting together. Marshall Zyraxes of Modesia, the highest-ranking person in the Modesian army stood up nonchalantly with a glass of wine in one hand and a cigar in the other “I held a gun for the first time when I was 5 and scored my first kill before I turned 12. I was better than these lads. In my 37 years of serving this country, I’ve never seen worse soldiers than those we have now. MacArthur, my good old friend, why don’t you send some of your men to teach these boys what hell is? We’ll make elite soldiers out of them together!”
“Certainly, Amerce would be happy to support our southern allies in these matters, with that besides training matters is there anything else you would want?” Macarthur replied.
“I consider that the construction of an Amercian military base and a permanent presence of Amercian troops on our territory would greatly improve our defensive positions and greatly increase the stability of the region, considering we have enemies to our east” answered Zyraxes.
MacArthur thought about the proposal, for a second Amerce would need Modesian and Kuban bases for the future, in a very likely war against Nations in the East. “Amerce would be happy to set up bases inside Modesia for defense and stability in the area. We can see to it for this Alliance.”
"This nation has the means to end this war in a definitive and elegant manner, we seek not destruction and conflict but a balance of power and restoration to peace, and it will be done with reason and justice from beginning to end, and the world will be grateful, only then will they see the way to true peace."

Jan 3rd+27th (Nieb said I could go back a month at most)

Postby Cotour » Tue May 12, 2020 4:23 pm

Ever since the eruption of the civil war and the sonacist capture of Nanjing, things had been hard for the border guard, as many residents sought to depart the country in search of ways to provide for their families that remained. The guards did what they could, providing shelter and what food they could, with nearby military forces donating clothing and rations to survive the harsh winter. Some had been able to sneak across the border to barter with locals on the other side. Entering the warlord states would be dangerous, and there was little to gain. There would be no work in the dead of winter either. Temporary housing became crowded, and there was little means of alleviation. The hard times continued, until news of the capture of Nanjing came, a month after the event. Many sonacist officials had attempted to flee, bringing along with them their wealth gained from corruption. Many, while attempting to flee, encountered these camps and were subsequently beaten to death, and had their wealth and belongings taken. Others, however, had organized themselves, and planned for an escape.

On January 3rd, a Shinese ship would come to recover them, and bring them back to safety. They were a group of 3 dozen men, including Hu Hanmin and Wang Jingwei. Just before their departure, Wang suggested they depart early. Later on they received the news that their safehouse had been raided not long after they left. Leaving Nanjing, they headed towards Shanghai in multiple small groups. They would meet in one of the harbors, and prepare to escape. On the morning of the 3rd, all but one of the groups arrived. Two hours later, the ship arrived, yet there was no sign of the final group. Assuming the worst, the rest boarded the ship and departed, hoping not to draw attention from the authorities. The final group arrived, just as the ship departed. However, authorities had already been wary of the ship, as it had seemed to have come from the open sea. As such, police were dispatched to intercept it, yet did not make it in time. They were, however, in time to arrest the final group. The group had stopped at their homes to bring their valuables and gold, and were therefore late and loaded with said valuables. These were all seized, along with their property.

As internal issues began to be resolved, and new spending was drafted, aid was immediately received by the border guards, as well as news of developments and a betterment of the economic situation. As news spread, many of those who had left for work had begun returning home to their families, and emergency aid money would help sustain those who were still stuck at the border. Food aid was provided to all, and to the peasants across the border as thanks.

Conston, Greater Ergonia - 1st of February, 1935
St. Anne's Palace

David took in a deep breath, as the Lord-Steward pinned the last medals to his Ithanian red coat, and fastened the blue sash across his chest. "You look resplendent, dear" Mary smiled, rubbing her husband's back. "I hope they think so as well..." he mumbled softly, sighing. Frowning, she drops her hand from his back. "You will make a great king, possibly greater than whatever your brother Edward could have done" she says, finding a glimpse of a smile. "They're ready for you, your Majesty" John announces softly, peeking in through the chamber door. "Thank you John. We'll be out in a moment" Mary smiled at him, who returned a simple nod. David grimaced as the Lord-Steward withdrew his hands and bowed to him. "Are you ready, dear?" Mary asked, looking at her husband. "I'm as ready as I will ever be..." he said softly, walking towards the chamber door.

"His Royal and Imperial Majesty, Edmund V, by the grace of God, King of Greater Ergonia and Strathland, of the Ergonian Dominions, Defender of the Faith, Emperor of Sagaria" a Gentlemen-Pensioner proclaimed, as the doors swung open. David and Mary entered the throne-room to be met by the glances of the Lords Temporal and Lords Spiritual, who were congregating before the Throne of Saint Edmund.

"My lords" David says, the lords and bishops bowing to him and part as he and Mary ascend to the throne, and sit down upon it, with Mary standing besides it. The Archbishop Mortimer steps forward with a scroll in hand, and bows before the throne. Unrolling it, he turns to the lords of the Kingdom.

"We, the Lords-Temporal and Lords-Spiritual, do truly and sincerely acknowledge, profess, testify, and declare in our conscience before God and the world, that our Sovereign Lord King Edmund, is lawful and rightful King of this realm, and of all other in his Majesties Dominions and Countries. And we do make this Recognition and acknowledgement heartily, willingly, and truly, upon the true Faith of a Recusant. So help us God" he announces before the group of great and petty lords. a resounding "Aye" sweeps the lords, who bow to their King-Emperor. The Lords Spiritual, bow their heads to the Defender of the Faith. "God save the King!" The Duke of Wellingham proclaims as the Heralds gather near the balcony doors.

The trumpets of the Heralds blare from the banner draped balcony, as the Duke of Wellingham walks to the center, unraveling a scroll of his own.

"Whereas it has pleased Almighty God to call call mercy our late Sovereign Lord King Edmund the Fourth, of blessed and glorious memory, by whose decease the Imperial Crown of the United Kingdom of Greater Ergonia and Strathland is solely and rightfully come to the high and mighty prince David Albert Edmund Louis: We, therefore, the Lords Spiritual and Temporal of this Realm, being here assisted with these of His late Majesty's Privy Council, with numbers of other principal gentlemen of Quality, with the Lord Mayor, Aldermen, and citizens of Conston, do now hereby, with one voice and consent of tongue and heart, publish and proclaim, that the high and mighty prince, David Albert Edmund Louis, is now, by the death of our late sovereign of happy memory, become our only lawful and rightful liege Lord Edmund the fifth, by the grace of God, King of the United Kingdom of Greater Ergonia and Strathland, Defender of the Faith, Emperor of Sagaria: To whom we do acknowledge all faith and constant obedience, with all hearty and humble affection; beseeching God, by whom Kings and Queens do reign, to bless the Royal Prince Edmund the fifth with long and happy years to reign over us!"

Rally Goers in Lahnburg, Colorado

February 2nd, 1935

A rally was held yesterday in Lahnburg, Colorado, in support of the Ambarino Movement. As many as 20,000 residents of the town and surrounding counties were reported to be in attendance of the political gathering. The majority of participants in this demonstration reported themselves to be residents of the Counties of Lahnburg, Phillips, Logan, Cheyenne, Rio Blanco, Garfield, Arapahoe, Washington, Clear Creek, Morgan, Las Animas, and Montrose. Yesterday’s rally marks the largest rally held by the Ambarino Movement to date.

Since the turn of the 20th century, the twelve northernmost counties of the State of Colorado have petitioned to break away from the State of Colorado and form a new state in the Union, independent of the State of Colorado. Many pro-Ambarino activists and lawmakers have argued for this due to under representation in the Parliament of Colorado, in addition to disproportionate amounts of tax dollars originating from the twelve counties being directed, at a statewide level, towards the southern regions of Colorado, through infrastructure, education, and other measures.

This week’s rally comes as the proposal for the twelve aforementioned counties to form a State of Ambarino reaches the Parliament of Colorado today. The Parliament of Colorado, in the State Capital at Winchester, Colorado, has opposed the nation in the past. Yet, with mounting pressure from the twelve aforementioned counties, as well as pressure from the Federal Government in Engleton, the State of Colorado will have to find a permanent solution, or face mounting pressure from all sides.
