The decline of man has been long in the making. It has no one cause, as many factors were at play across the world. here's what's happened.

History:
2020s:

November 7th, 2020: A group of individuals conspire to rig the 2020 presidential elections in favor of democratic candidate Bernie Sanders. They devise a plan and get to work.

November 8th: The closest election in American history occurs as Bernie Sanders only wins by one vote in the electoral college. This election creates a lot of suspicion and people already begin to call it rigged.

November 10th: Hacktivist group 'Anonymous' sends evidence to federal authorities of the election being rigged. News of this spreads like wildfire, resulting in a recount of votes. This time, republican candidate Donald Trump wins the election.

November 11th: The perpetrators are arrested by the FBI. They will be sentenced to life in prison for electoral fraud.

November 13th: California, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Hawaii, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New York, Illinois, Colorado, New Mexico, Michigan, Minnesota, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin succeed from the United States. They declare themselves the 'Democratic States of America'.

November 14th: The Federal Government declares war against the break away states. Thus beginning the Second American Civil War. (After 2021, more factions split off from the initial sides. Including Communists, Fascists, Anarchists, Libertarians, Puerto Rico Separatists, and others.)

February 21st, 2021: Protests in China result in the assassination of Xi Jinping by radical anti-communists. Riots occur in Beijing and Shanghai, resulting in army personnel opening fire on protesters. Over 2,000 people are killed.

February 22nd: Tibet, East Turkestan, Inner Mongolia, and Manchuria declare independence from China, while Taiwan (ROC), Hong Kong, Macau, Mongolia, and various factions within China declare war on the PRC. Thus, leading to another Chinese Civil War.

March 19th: Due to lack of Chinese support, North Korea collapses. South Korean forces begin to March across the DMZ.

April 20th: South Korean forces capture Pyongyang, and declare "Korea is now united". Remnants of the North Korean army surrender to South Korea.

October 5th: The Russian Federation declares war against Ukraine and the Baltic States. The EU retaliates by declaring war on Russia.

October 9th: Poland, Czechia, Slovakia, Hungary, Austria, and Italy declare war on the EU. While Turkey, Albania, Kosovo, and Azerbaijan declare war on Russia. The UK and Norway begin sending weapons and supplies to nations at war with the EU. Belarus, Armenia, Serbia, Montenegro, Kazakhstan, and Georgia side with Russia.

January 14th, 2022: Israel and Saudi Arabia sign a pact to end the ongoing civil wars in both Syria and Yemen.

January 21st: Israel and Saudi Arabia begin invasions of Syria and Yemen. Also, the Japanese economy collapses due to a lack of American and Chinese imports.

March 15th: Syria and Yemen have fallen. Resulting in tensions between Iran and Saudi Arabia to increase.

December 24th: A series of unofficial ceasefires occur in both the American Civil War and Euro-Russian war. Soldiers stopped fighting each other for 3 days. They chatted, drank, and even exchanged gifts. After that, they went back to fighting each other.

October 5th, 2024: The worst cyclone in recorded history strikes Bangladesh and Eastern India. Wind speeds exceeded 170 mph/ 273 kph. Major cities such as Dhaka and Kolkata are devastated, and resulting in $300,000,000,000 in damages and 278,000 deaths. Yet no one bothered to help.

July 9th, 2027: The EU surrenders after Berlin and Brussels both fall within the same week. The Treaty of Volgograd is signed. Russia annexes Southern Ukraine and Belarus, while puppeting the rest of Ukraine, the Baltics and Finland. Georgia and Armenia gain land from both Azerbaijan and Turkey. Hungary gains Transylvania. Italy gains Trieste, Corsica, and Albania. Occitania, Brittany, and Normandy gain independence from France. Bavaria leaves Germany and becomes a puppet state of Austria. Belgium is split into Flanders and Wallonia. Catalonia, and the Basque Country gain independence from Spain. Serbia annexes Kosovo. The EU is dissolved, and all EU nations are forced to pay war reparations. This war has devastated Europe. Over 40,000,000 people had died in those 6 years of war. Thankfully, no nuclear weapons were used.

October 17th: The UN meets in Moscow to decide which nations replace the US, China, and France as permanent members of the security council. Canada, Saudi Arabia, and Italy become permanent members of the security council.

March 15th, 2029: Russia, Ukraine, The Baltics, Kazakhstan, Finland, Poland, Czechia, Slovakia, Hungary, Italy, Austria, Bavaria, Serbia, Georgia, Armenia, Catalonia, The Basque Country, Occitania, Brittany, and Normandy establish the Eurasian Defence Alliance. Meanwhile, the British start to fear that Russia may target the UK next.

September 13th: The Greater Commonwealth Pact is founded between the UK, Norway, Canada, South Africa, The Bahamas, Guyana, Australia, New Zealand, India, Nigeria, Ireland, Bangladesh, Belize, and Japan as a response to "Russian Expansion across Europe".

December 31st: As we move into the 2030s, a lot more has happened. A nationalist party rose to power in Japan, vowing to restore their empire. Tensions between the Commonwealth and the Eurasian Alliance continue to heat up. Syria and Yemen have both stabilized. The American and Chinese civil wars have still not ended. Islamist parties are rising in popularity across France and Germany due to immigration. Korea is now the largest economic power in the world with a GDP of 5.4 trillion dollars. Things get a whole lot worse from here.

2030s:

January 5th, 2030: A drug-resistant strain of cholera is discovered in Pakistan. It spreads to neighboring Afghanistan and causes over 50,000 deaths from contaminated water supplies within a week.

April 7th: Russia and Korea both intervene in the Chinese Civil War and invade Manchuria. Manchuria falls within a month and is split between Russia and Korea.

November 14th: After a naval skirmish in the Persian Gulf, Iran declares war on Saudi Arabia. Israel, Iraq, The UAE, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Jordan declare war on Iran.

November 15th: Iran fires several secret nuclear missiles towards Saudi Arabia and Israel. Israel retaliates by firing several nuclear missiles towards Iran. The nuclear exchange kills over 45 million people across the middle east.

November 16th: The war ends at the request of the UN security council. A humanitarian crisis is declared across the middle east as clean up and relocation operations begin within 72 hours.

November 17th: An emergency meeting of the UN security council occurs in Moscow to discuss potential courses of action in the middle east and which nation will replace Saudi Arabia as a permanent member. Indonesia becomes a permanent member of the UN security council.

August 4th, 2031: Several major volcanic eruptions occur in Japan within a 24 hour period, resulting in pyroclastic flows and heavy ash pollution. Over 7,500 fatalities are recorded in the next few days.

December 19th: Despite conservation efforts, the Aral sea and lake Chad have both completely dried up, resulting in water shortages across West Africa and Central Asia.

July 14th, 2033: UN estimates make a startling discovery. Approximately 650,000,000 people across both India and Sub-Saharan Africa are without clean water sources. Water rationing is now in force in both regions of the world. Mass famines have begun across both areas.

October 11th: Chad declares war on Niger over remaining water supplies in Niger. Several other African nations intervene in the war, resulting in the largest war in West African history. The Commonwealth intervenes to defend its member state of Nigeria.

July 24th, 2034: Several oil fields and pipelines start running dry in Saudi Arabia. This leads to the collapse of the Saudi Arabian economy, which is based on oil. Within the following week, similar events occur in Iraq, Iran, and Jordan.

December 31st: The first half of the 2030s has already been a disaster. This may be the beginning of man's decline. Resources are running out. Wars are becoming more common. Diseases are mutating and becoming deadlier. The civil wars in America and China still rage on, and combined have caused almost as many deaths as WW2. Tensions between the Commonwealth and Eurasia continue to sour as Japan prepares to begin re-expansion of its empire. Weather is becoming more extreme, and more destructive.

Rules:
1: No Godmodding or Metagaming.
2: What OP says, goes.
3: It's the 2030s so slightly futuristic technology is allowed, but nothing like plasma guns or antimatter bombs.
4: Each post is one day in RP.
5: No unjustified wars.
6: Each post must be at least 1 paragraph long.
7: Bad Grammar is not tolerated, fix it yourself.
8: No nukes. (they were banned after the Saudi-Iran nuclear war of 2030 by the UN.)
9: There will be a random events feature that nations affected must respond to.
10: Alliances can only be dismantled by their leaders. UK (Commonwealth), Russia (Eurasia), Indonesia (ASEAN), Egypt (Arab League).

WEF 2035 - Theme "International Stability"

The WEF, often seem as an illuminati-esque meeting by some, is an annual meeting of economic and political leaders in Davos, Switzerland. The main guest speaker will be Lionel Matz, an avid globalist and writer of The New Order. (OOC: This book is basically what the Communist Manifesto for the right. It's basically pro-deregulation, pro-establishment, and pro-world unification) General-Secretary of the UN Francis Pratt and the Chairman of the IMF Pierre Moreau will also be giving keynote speeches. Whilst there will be no TV broadcast or recording of the event, many political leaders will also be attendance as spectators. The summaries of the keynote speeches are below:

Francis Pratt
"The world as we know is burning as we speak. Democracy is on the retreat as autocrats begin seizing power across the world. In the span of two decades, tens of millions of people have died from famine, war, disease and a lack of water. Europe, once the stable bedrock of the planet, is on fire. The ISF has seized power in Paris and the Commonwealth and Eurasian alliances are at each other's throats. The clear fact is that the world is becoming more unstable as we speak, and so we must strengthen the UN's power to act in cases where necessary. We must not let nationalism win.

Many nations, however, are still too stubborn and want more sovereignty, rather than less. Nations such as Japan and Australia should stand down and accept their fate rather than fighting against a more peaceful, more united world. All this fear and hatred, stoked by populists, must end now! The UN must be strengthened and all nations must take a more robust part in it, before the world falls to anarchy and weakness. Thank you."

Pierre Moreau
"We are on the brink of a recession greater than all others before it. It will be a greater spectacle than 1929, 1986 and 2008 combined. Tens of millions will lose their jobs, millions more their homes and all their livelihoods as the world economy collapses. This is because of all the political instability in the world today, with all the wars and all the diplomatic dalliances of rogue nations!

The world is about to come tumbling down in a massive deluge and this is all the fault of political leaders who have failed to consider the consequences of their actions. We must course correct before modern civilisation collapses, lest we be seen as the generation that ended the world. We need a new world order, one of peace, unity and strength."

Lionel Matz
"Moreau is right. We must establish a new world order, without war, without division and, most important of all, without power being in the hands of local tinpot dictators. We must create a more centralised, a more peaceful world, rather than one which constantly fights amongst itself and is disorganised to the point of insanity. We need to give more power to international organisations like the UN, as opposed to weakening international law.

We must fight against nationalism, before we return to medieval-levels of war, or worse yet, fascism taking over the entire world. We need an organisation to further these aims, and I have just formed one, known as the New Democratic Organisation, and I urge all of you to join it. We will soon ally with governments to establish a better world order, one without war or division. Thank you."

The 1945 CONSTITUTION
REPUBLIC OF INDONESIA

S
ECTION 1

1. The State of Indonesia shall be a unitary state, with the form of a Republic.

2. Sovereignty is vested in the people and implemented pursuant to the Constitution.

3.The State of Indonesia is a state based on the rule of law.

    REPUBLIC OF INDONESIA
    Merdeka Palace, Jakarta

THE day is still warm and young, and the morning Southeast Asian sun burned not-so-brightly over the cloudy skies of Jakarta. The capital of world’s largest democratic Republic still standing – one that is still free, perhaps – had just started its working day. As cars lined up the Medan Merdeka street, directly in front of Jakarta’s National Monument; the Presidential guards lined the palace’s gate, cocking their Pindad SS-3 rifles, standing serene in their black suit uniform. The security had been very tough these days, it would have been because of the frequent cabinet meetings that the current president held. Very oftenly than most, one would say. With the world around Indonesia completely spiralling into a state of total chaos, it was the government’s hard work, and ultimately millions of police force, which kept the myriad of etnhnicities and religions all over the nation in a relatively stable peace. With Pindad Anoa personnel carriers lining up the streets every day – from Bandar Aceh to Jayapura – it’s hard to take a dissent against the state in common, though political is still largely allowed.

President Sudirman Said entered the Merdeka Palace in his black SUV, saluted by a dozen guards as his car rolled in the palace’s large courtyard. A man of his seventies now, the President had been entrusted to led the Golongan Karya – Working Group party, a predominantly centrist political party in the nation. Then after all, no strict ideologies exist in Indonesia, only the sky-high ambitions of politicians. He can see some of his ministers inside, while some more was just arriving in their own transportations. He exited the car and walked escorted to the Palace’s interior. His car’s electric, as most of Indonesian elite-class rides has been. The nation – God’s work of many jungles, ravines, fields, coals and oils – was a full potential of electricity power plants, and the people had been overly thankful for it. Humans see money in everh patchwork of planet Earth, some said. Fortunately, Indonesia produced its own cars, largely independent from the chaotic world outside it, as do ASEAN. His thoughts astray for a little, the President now arrived in his meeting room. He was never one for complex pleasantries and activities. Steering a nation of three hundred million people is no easy work, and he’d like to get things fast and working.

“Ministers, welcome to our second-weekly, if not daily, cabinet meeting,” he said to the group of people. Though he did not deliberately meant it to be a joke, some chuckled, at least. “Our topic now, is the incursion of Chinese civil war refugees first, and the matter of Australia’s fascist regime second.” The group of people murmured now, and he cannot deduce clearly the topic. He could make the list of his friends and rivals – some longstanding since two decades ago, his party’s – while some had been close friend turned bitter. Either way, he don’t want to risk political dissents, so his cabinet now is a mumble-jumble of all political backgrounds.

“Mr. President, if I could take adress,” one of his ministers said. A woman of her fifties, Yohana Lembaka is the only Papuan representative in his Indonesian cabinet, an unspoken must since President Widodo’s very inclusive government composition of 2014. She held the position of Minister of Maritime and Fishery affairs, which she excels at – much to his chagrin, because the woman came from Partai Demokrat or the Democratic Party. His and her parties had been rivals for long. She continued her speech. “Chinese, we do not sure which warring state as of yet, ships containing refugees had been spotted offshore Natuna island. There are also fishermen seeking fortune in our waters, some carrying armaments, we believe. We do not know how they had passed Vietnamese and Malaysian coastal guards at first, these boats had been undetectable. We do have patrols apperhending them, but some of them requested entry and asylum. There will be another, much larger, wave of refugees coming next, we presume.”

Said has heard enough of this worldwide refugee crisis. “Deport them,” he said, rather loudly. “This archipelago is already full of people. We cannot settle them anywhere suitable. Natuna itself had lost much of its wildlife areas – something we try to prevent.” His answer is responded by a chuckle and smirk by one of his ministers. “Clear the forest, then! We sure still have land left. We are the most functioning state in the world now.” He saw, and do not like the slightest, of who is answering. Khaled al-Hashar was a second-generation immigrant from the Emirates – his grandparents had been oil kings once. Now he is a typical Democratic politician sitting comfy as the Minister of Higher Education, representing the ever-growing immigrant population in Indonesia now. His counterpart, Golongan Karya politician Marcus Weiler, answered with a rhetoric about how important nature is for Indonesia’s continuation. Weiler is an immigrant as well, but an American one, his parents fleeing two civil wars thay had embroiled their continent. He represents Papua as well as Minister Lembaka, managing the Ministry of Forestry. He liked the man, the fact he being his party companion more than so.

“Ministers, well. Your Ministry of Higher Education has some reserve university dormitories in the Riau Islands – that’ll house asylum seekers well, I thought.” Al-Hashar visibly flinched. “Ask for their governments to accept them back. Escort them, with corvettes, I insist. We are the force now in the world; no-one would dare challenge the second-highest military in the Pacific Ocean after Korea. Now, on to the next matter – Australia. We have tried to estabilish embasies, have we not, Minister Sigar?”

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Haikal Sigar, is an elderly man who had been a member of the Indonesian diplomatic corps back in the ‘10s; the reign of Presidents Yudhoyono and Widodo where sweet peace hold tight, America and China two giants squabbling over the world’s economy. “Indeed we have, Mr. President,” came his answer. “However, so far we have received no further respond. Our relations had been ice-cold since their New Guard regime took the government, with all the medieval-esque divisions. I am not one to judge, but much of the people don’t want further relations with them; rather primitive, they said. It’s like us letting provinces being held by hereditary adipati (Indonesian: dukes). Un-democratic, un-free.” Many chuckled at the statement, he was one. “However,” he responded, “an avenue of diplomatic talks must be reached with Australia. We are dedicated to fending off Chinese and Commonwealth military presences, and our frigates cannot remain patrolling East Nusa Tenggara at every instant. We also want a better cooperation, it is.” They then discussed for another hour, mainly insignificant issues of provincial road construction and new government tenders, until he said “Cabinet adjourned.” Personally, Said was very relieved.

As the last of his ministers went away in their respective cars, Said returned to the now-orderly meeting room and glanced at the massive Garuda statue behind his chair. The golden bird had a shield on its torso, with the five symbols of Pancasila, the Indonesian national ideology, enshrined upon it. For him, it was all that he stood about; the prospective of seeing his nation burned like all other states around it was very dark for him. He would do anything capable to maintain this peace, something that he’s not sure other politicians though about. The line at the bird’s feet reads, “Unity in Diversity,” though the phrase had been very hard to maintain lately. He touched its metal talons, just as his phone flared up a message. A meeting with the Indonesian Ambassador to the UN.

Nation’s duty calls, and he walked away, leaving the palace in all its glamours.

To: High Regent Joseph McKenzie, New Guard of Australia

Warm Greetings,
It has come to my attention that diplomatic matters between Indonesia and its neighbor Australia is yet to be resolved through any formal means, and I seek a state to do so, through cordial intentions. High Regent, you are invited to the first ever State Meeting between Australia and Indonesia since the New Guard's foundation, and we sincerely hope that this event would bring our two nations in a closer cooperation.

Best Regards,
Sudirman Said
President of Indonesia

Oil supplies across Saudi Arabia are going dry. Approximately 60% of oil wells in the region have run out of oil within the past 24 hours. Gas prices across the planet are expected soar within the coming days. The UN has called for an emergency meeting regarding the situation, as this will affect everything from every major type of transportation, and a potential economic collapse could affect the entire world.

"Hello people of Cascadia, another network bulletin from the Cascadian Resilience Center. Cascadian President Ross continues the stance against the United States and the Democratic States declaring that due to the nature of the war being waged, it went against the values set before by those who held freedom to be true. That Cascadia shall unite the entirety of the Bioregion with Canada in the hopes that a new peace can shine upon the region without the need of fighting. Of course, the need to resist had not ended, for Cascadian troops continue to clash with the national guards of the United States and the Democratic States."

The shuffling of papers could be heard as the host tried his best to quickly get to the next bulletin, "Along side that, Pro-Union protesters attempt to organize a rally within Seattle, but are stopped by AntiFa counter protesters supported by local Corrections Police. It was a great victory against domestic threats by loyal citizens of the Democratic Republic, alongside another major ring of Pro-Union leaders being rounded up from the protest attempt which would've been classified as anti-state actions. A great victory for Cascadia! We thank you all for listening to our broadcast and now we continue playing a finest tunes, for before the Stars fell apart."

Turning the TV off, the President leaned back in the chair that he sat down upon. Thinking of what was to happen. The National Council was preparing a law that would completely integrate all people's within the military, making them feel accepted and boasting it to the world. No longer was it simply something that was to be kept hidden, many people supported such a thing. Just as they supported the full marriage rights for homosexuals, though abortion and acceptance of transgender was still a highly heated debate. But for the few, such as the Libertarians, they would've been content, seeing as how they are part of the militia with the ability to not only own guns but ones that full automatic in the name of Cascadia. They would support its defense if the time had needed to come, they were surrounded by the enemy, though Canada would not strike against them as long as they didn't do anything to anger them. But the need to ensure a place of bargaining against the United States would be the need to go and find a way to take Alaska.

"This damned wasteland of ice just had to have the most valuable resource in the world huh...." he said looking at a map brought to him by his military staff under him, he was the Commander-in-Chief after all. Not all power could be taken away from him by the National Council, but of course while they clashed so heavily with the United States and Democratic States he didn't know how to find a way to win the war. Unless he did something drastic that would force the United States to comply and enforce a peace with the Democratic States. Such a thing, could be an invasion of Alaska with the support of Canada. If they could obtain the state, they would control the oil and a bargaining chip against the United States. It could also bring closer relations to Canada as they would sell them the resource and the Democratic States would be forced to pull back knowing they would have the fuel to continually fight a war, while their people suffered on all fronts. It was a surprise how they could keep fighting so heavily despite being split in what could be seen as two. They held little important military facilities other than the ports, while the United States controlled the very thing like the Pentagon. Colorado and New Mexico were in a terrible position unless the Democratic States wished to risk a war in the desert such as the Mojave, or the Mormons in Utah, still split by the Rocky Mountains. The very reason Cascadia split off, they didn't trust the Democratic States to truly lead them to a victory they wanted, though they do feel regret for not saving their fellow brothers in Idaho. Something he vowed to do.

"Why couldn't things of been easier...before all this fighting started..." Ross sighed, knowing that his self-reflection would only weaken his resolve. He needed to find a weakness in both of the clashing giants where they can move in to secure what is theirs, both Alaska and Idaho. To ensure the survival of the bioregion that held so firm against the odds, so that they may rises to greatness. Though he didn't know where that would lead his small nation, hoping to dodge the collapse with renewable energy and solar cars. Or find a new source of oil soon from Alaska, it was their only hope.

"Order, order!" General-Secretary Pratt proclaimed across the hall of the UN.

"Let us begin business. First item shall be that of the Arabian Oil Collapse. We need to do something, and fast, before it becomes a recession. Do any ambassadors wish to forward a procedure to the hall?"

Baris, Faransa

The partition of France left the country weaker than ever before, having lost more than half its land and most of its economy. A large chunk of the already declining population had been killed in the war, and many richer people had simply left the country. The economy was dead, lacking a proper work force and not being an ideal place for investors. France had essentially been gutted, in the course of only 6 years they’d been reduced from a major power to a rump on the verge of collapse. However, one group simply couldn’t leave: muslim immigrants and their descendents, who were too poor to leave. Policies were passed to encourage immigration from the developing world, especially North African and Middle Eastern countries, to fill the gap left by a small, aging population. This worked well at first, with cheap labor helping business, but this prosperity wouldn’t last.

Lacking a proper middle or upper class and lacking interest from investors, it was difficult for France’s economy to continue its small growth. The “cheap labor” became so plentiful and cheap that worker’s rights faded into oblivion, as bosses were able to dismiss any striking workers in favor of other immigrant labor. Paris and the surrounding region began to turn into a massive collection of slums, the streets covered in poor migrants and their descendants. Muslim migrants and their descendants soon formed a majority in Ils-de-France, and needed more room for their needs. Churches were forcibly taken and turned into Mosques, with groups that attempted to resist becoming targets of Muslim death squads. Opponents and their families would be forcibly circumscized and converted to Islam, their property seized from them. A turning point was the capture of Notre Dame and its conversion into the Sayidat Baris, and from here, an Islamic caliphate was declared.

The government attempted to instate mass deportations, but this failed, with Muslims across the country fleeing to Paris and bolstering Faransa’s numbers. The newly formed Islamic State of Faransa went on the offense, turning Paris into a bloodbath and seizing land around it. Several other Muslim uprisings were attempted and failed around France, but these gave enough distraction to allow Faransa to succeed. In their wake, the terrorists left destruction. Cultural sites such as the Louvre Museum were torched, and important paintings were sold off whenever possible to raise funds. Christians fled from their offense in massive numbers, those who survived were forced to work in labor camps. The Islamic State began to set up base underground, but public buildings were all former churches and Parisian landmarks, that way any air strikes on them would destroy them. Those Christians and Jews remaining outside of camps within Faransa went into hiding, with more moderate Muslims helping to keep them safe.

Today marked a special day, though, as the Eiffel Tower was going to be destroyed. It was covered in explosives, and people were banned from going within 500 feet of it. Outside of that boundary, though, thousands of men, women, and children had gathered to see its destruction. Food was handed out in celebration, and people waved flags of the Islamic State with pride. Jakisun Sitil, flanked by guards, was there in the person to give a speech.

“For thousands of years, France has been a Christian country, which oppressed other groups in the name of their false god. They forcibly assimilated others into their disgusting language and culture, spreading it like a plague. Indeed, they spread their so called ‘Western civilization’ to Africa, causing mass death and destruction. For hundreds of years, the proud Muslim people of Africa and the Middle East were subjugated to French tyranny. France killed millions upon millions of our brothers, yet never even spoke of it. They tied West Africa to them economically, and even after independence, colonized them economically.

Now, we have infiltrated their own country, and are free to exact our revenge. They themselves have gone from colonizer to colonized, and we have risen up to destroy them for once and for all! As they once forced the proud people of Algeria to the desert to make way for European settlement, we have forced them out of our new land to make way for Allah’s people! As they once torched Algiers, we have torched Paris! We will convert their proud monuments into symbols of Allah’s might, but not all may remain. This disgusting hunk of metal will be destroyed, turned to scrap for our blessed weapons. Allahu akbar!” He chanted. The crowd chanted along with him, proud to be part of his movement. France was colonized Third World, and now the Third World was colonizing France.

Despite their chants, the explosion of the Eiffel Tower silenced the loud crowd. The large pillar, once reaching for the heavens, fell towards the Earth into numerous fragmented pieces. The rest of the structure all collapsed at once, being damaged so much that it could never be repaired. Where a grand structure once stood, there was nothing but dust and rubble. People poured in to take souveneirs, though most of the rubble was taken to be smelted down and used for raw material. No matter what happened to Faransa, Paris would never be the same.

The Chief Executive was about to speak for 3,000 people. This wasn’t one of his usual campaign rallies or political speeches. Today he would be attempting to persuade his legislators to go to war.

“Paris has become overridden with immigrants from insurgent and unstable regions in the Middle East. Now, don’t get me wrong. I respect their civil liberties. We must not discriminate on race, nor religion. But they wield the flag of the Islamic State! This document that my Chief of Staff distributed to you is a declaration of war against terror in Western Europe. I urge all of you in this room to stand in affirmation of this declaration. I have spoken with the Prime Minister and the Secretary of Military Affairs. We are ready to send cruise missiles and airstrikes. Let us not wait until they come for us, offense is the best defense!” The crowd cheered as Austin paused, seeing his guard walk up to the stage.

“Sir, the meeting in Switzerland has concluded.”

“You can send our ambassador in for a debriefing once my speech is finished.”

“I’m afraid that’s not possible sir. There’s been a terrorist attack in Monterrey. Ambassador Alvarez is among the casualties. Our only member who attended the meeting is dead, a landmark city in ruins. Use it as leverage in your speech, let Prime Minister Brown handle the emergency response” his guard advises.

“You’re right. I’ll get back to my speech now. Send in the National Guard. Tell Brown to invoke martial law. And deploy the first regiment of the International Guard to Faransa via LCVP ships. We don’t need a declaration of war to move Guard units.”

The Chief Executive went back up to the podium. “I’m truly sorry for the delay. It seems that Faransa attacked Monterrey. I hope you understand, this is a bipartisan effort. Liberals and conservatives must unite. So I hereby dismiss this joint-session. Congressional and Parliamentary leadership are holding both a debating and voting period immediately after this session ends.”

What was supposed to be a daily National Security briefing had turned into an intense shouting fest once FSA Domestic had informed them of the attack. Their early forensic report stated that some Egyptian oligarch was most likely behind the attack, but the Secretary of the Army had easily forged a link between him and Faransa.

Austin steps in, watching them all argue. He then sits down, with everyone going silent.

“I’ll Manage the International Guard efforts. The Senate voted for the declaration, but Parliament voted against it. I need you to testify before the Congress and make sure they approve this.”

“Yes sir!” replies the Commander in Chief of the International Guard.

Once the first regiment disembarked in Faransa, they split up. There were five battalions each consisting of 400 men and ten tanks. Captain Harrison, the Staff Sergeant, thought that when the FRA signed its peace treaty with the US, all conflict would end. But the Chief Executive decided to wrench the FRA into another conflict. He was excited to stop these terrorists though. When Chihuahua was in ruins, the Mexicans and Americans teamed up to rebuild it as New Houston, the capitol. They probably would do the same for Monterrey.
Harrison froze when he heard the voice on his radio:

All units, stand down and set up camp. This is the Secretary of Foreign Affairs. Congress has voted. This is a war. A military jet is on its way with a FOAB and another with a MOAB to hit Paris. Remain in France, do not proceed to Paris. This is imminent.

“Stand down!” Harrison yelled, once he heard the announcement. The Air Force was coming. This was going to be intense. Aboard the 747, pilot Elizabeth Brown pushed the button, as the FOAB descended near a military crowd by the Eiffel Tower.

At the UN, things went differently. “Chief Executive Miller here. One thousand International Guard members are on their way to assist oil workers. We would also like to set the second order of business for the day. A FOAB strike was carried out against Faransa, due to their attack on my nation and destruction of the Eiffel Tower.”

Federal Administration Center 5B
Lagos, Nigeria

The General Secretary never liked working in Federal Administration Center 5B. Although he had a plush office in the presidential villa of Aso Villa, over in Abuja, he had relocated to the small, nondescript warehouse that was 5B as a security precaution. With the ongoing war in the north, one could never be too careful. Even here, he was surrounded by guards at all times, while his food was tested before being served and anti-aircraft missiles were on standby around the complex.

The warehouse was technically operated by the Ministry of Energy as office space for their accountants and clerks, but the recent spikes in oil prices meant that the Ministry was able to absorb the costs incurred by being kicked out of 5B in favour of the Office of the General Secretary. Although he couldn't quite remember, General Secretary Ngozi Ndidi thought he had heard something about the Ministry of Oil now working out of a luxury hotel in downtown Lagos. Ndidi made a mental note to ask the Minister at the next meeting of the Presidium, then got back to the task at hand.

According to the report from the Ministry of Resources on the desk in front of him, oil production was still the largest single revenue stream for the Ministry, but water sales to Nigeria's neighbours were quickly catching up, with a 13% increase in sales of water to Niger and Chad during the last fiscal year. Additionally, construction of the Oganihu water pipeline from the coastal desalination plant at Warri to Kano was proceeding mostly on schedule. Although there were scattered reports of protests by villagers in the remote northern frontiers of Nigeria about increasingly expensive water, that news was lost in the flurry of reports about skirmishes and battles at the front lines of the war in Niger. Water was far cheaper in the cities of southern Nigeria anyway, so Ndidi didn't see why, if they refused to move, he should have to subsidise their stubbornness. Besides, the money that would be needed to prop up a few dying villages was far more useful at serving the national economy by building pipelines and wells.

Although Nigeria had many exploitable natural resources, the most profitable by far was oil. Even before the Nigerian Enlightenment in 2027, oil had been a staple export of the Nigerian economy, and now that the new Greater Federal Republic had new, expanded social services and programs to pay for, oil became even more critical. Sure, water and other resources were useful, but oil was the main export of Nigeria. Ndidi had set up a commission to begin investigating first steps to diversify the Nigerian economy, but they still had not returned any significant recommendations. In the mean time, oil prices kept increasing and revenues stayed high for the federal government.

And, if the war in Niger continued much longer, then the taps of oil and water would run out there as well. And Nigeria would be alone, as the undisputed power in West Africa.

Rome

The Dictator, Claudio Graziano, Generalissimo of Rome, Champion of the Gods, and successor to Caesar (as he has titled himself), looks at a painting of the Battle of Allia. The infamous sack of Rome, the first, led by the cursed Gauls. And in this age, it ever so hints to a future event, believed by many, to be the future of Rome. The Gauls, split up and sacked by Arabs, are believed to be Romes new "Celts". Bastards. Claudio realized that the threat to his North West required an answer, one he would provide. He cared not for the Christians who were being slaughtered, or the Churches being burned. The modernist Eiffel Tower, being destroyed, made him laugh. A waste of metal, he believed. France, a husk, was perfect for invasion. But he knew it would be too early to go all in and cause such a war. The Alliance he found himself in restricted his avenues of expansion, and he knew it would have to be destroyed if he was to fulfill his destiny.

A Senator approached him, Adolfo Cassiano, who was leading a Ultra Militaristic and Expansionist Coalition which was gaining control of the Senate. Adolfo was a friend of Claudio, a former Soldier in the European Wars that Russia led. He sat down in front of the Dictator, who would stop looking at the painting and sit down near him.

"Ave, my friend." Adolfo said.

"Ah, hello. What brings you here, Adolfo?" Claudio replied.

"Business, sadly. The Anglo has decided to attack the Muslims of the Gauls, and has apparently declared war." Adolfo said.

"War? Which nation?" Claudio said.

"Texas, apparently." Adolfo replied.

Claudio chuckled a bit, both of them cracking up.

"The Eternal Anglo is back again, I see." Claudio laughed

"Of course, attacking an equally subhuman tribe it seems." Adolfo said.

"Then we use this event to secure access to the Gauls, and destroy any Anglo intention of interfering here." Claudio replied.

"Of course, we could use this to further our pursuit of France. Russia surely would see the reason of this. We need to protect Western Europe from those who seek to destroy it, as the Russian puppets are unable to do themselves. We would surely receive support." Adolfo said, leaning forward.

He pulled out a piece of paper, a document.

"We have a declaration of war made, which we require your signature." Adolfo handed it to him.

Claudio began to read it, putting his glasses on. He then pricked his thumb with a needle, pressing the blood onto it. This was a rather serious motion, blood decrees were used during the beginning of the Neo Pagan movement by the 400 Martyrs of Milan. He then walked over, grabbing a stamp and pressing it against the paper. He took it back.

"Mobilize the Navy, and the Air Force. I will direct the defense of Europe. The Army will mobilize into Occitania, and move to attack any landing craft or air raid over France. We do not care of Frances National Sovereignty, if they reject our movements we will invade them as well. Begin sacrifices to Mars and Jupiter, we must prepare."

Adolfo grabbed the paper, nodding. He walked off, waving good bye. Claudio, standing up slowly, returned to the painting, looking at it in deep thought.

Roman Streets

Roman Police, dressed in their Ceremonial Armor, parade the streets. Celebrations and sacrifices to Jupiter and Mars began, and they were in full swing. Hundreds of thousands of people caroused the inner city, with millions celebrating in and around Rome, as well as other major cities. Thousands of animals were sacrificed, and the Army was mobilized. The Air Force was put on standby, while the Navy was deployed to detect any American Ships off the West Coast of Occitania. The Declaration of War was officially published and announced at the beginning week of Celebrations and Sacrifices. Several Goats with the names of historic Texan figures and cities were the first to be sacrificed, then a bull with the name of the Texan Prime Minister next. At the end of the week, further action was taken against the Texans, by killing 5,000 Americans within the Country as well as destroying the Vatican City and arresting the Pope. War Support was at an all time high, and the people united in their beliefs. It was time for Rome to make a come back.

Dear Mr. Ross,
The Government of the Khmer Federation is has deemed it necessary to create a new military coalition in the Pacific to preserve the former peace and stability of the region, and bring an end to the numerous military conflicts in an effective manner. We would like to begin this relationship with the creation of a free trade pact and customs Union, before formerly entering into a military alliance. To discuss this information we find it key that we meet in person, in a secure and private manner. We hope to establish a joint Copyright agreement as well as a redline connection. If you are indeed in favor of opening up trade and military talks, then we can coordinate with your supervisors over the establishment of such in a secure manner. New Guard Australia
County of Sydney

11 January 2035
1100 HRS AEST

The capital city of Australia was bustling with people and cars on most days. But while the hustle and bustle continued in most parts, the cordoned-off Victoria St. which led in a round-about way to parliament house, was devoid of all traffic save for the sleek green and black decorated car of the High Regent, Count of Sydney and Protector of Australia. High Regent Joseph McKenzie sat in the moving car, an attache opposite him clutching various files and folders of information. He was a good lad, that one, but fairly oblivious. He wore the uniform of the New Guard - green jacket and trousers, black shirt underneath, golden tie and black gloves, with a peaked cap displaying a seven-pointed star. That used to be the Commonwealth star, but now all it represented was the State. The New Guard-controlled State. McKenzie smiled at the attache.

"You look a little tense."

The attache straightened up, "No, sir. Of course not."

Joseph McKenzie let out a chuckle, "It's alright, mate. We're on friendlier ground here," McKenzie was an older man, and his voice a classically old-man form of the Australian accent. The attache relaxed slightly, but remained composed, looking out the window. McKenzie glanced out after him, "Not many people on the road, eh?"

"No, sir. You ordered the roads cl-"

"I'm kidding with ya," It was not obvious to any listening whether the response was one of reassurance or annoyance. The attache was young, somewhat naive to the High Regent's joking nature, but also perhaps not used to the duties of a New Guard. Must have been a newer recruit, after the beginning of the Sydney Re-organisation, the first period of New Guard control over the nation. Those first months... Raids, arrests, even a few... It was not pretty. It had to be done. McKenzie continued to tell himself that, always did. It was for the greater good of Australia, and Australians as a whole. It was necessary to make changes, as Australia would have buckled if it had kept on.

Perhaps more horrifying than a few summary executions was what had happened before then. 'For those who've come across the seas' indeed. Refugees in their droves, packing in even the most rural parts of Australia. Families, mothers and children, some dying of thirst out there in the Outback, others in the overcrowded cities on the coast. Australia had been pushed to the tipping point, her land and riches taken by invaders. The death toll was horrific, and the government sat there and did nothing. It took guts to know what one's duty was. McKenzie knew his duty. And indeed, despite sometimes worsening conditions, prosperity was brought anew to Australia under New Guard rule. Labourers ensured a high quality of life. Things were good. And McKenzie had ensured that to be the case.

The cars crossed over the Anzac Bridge. True heroes, they were. Men who knew their duties to their countries, and who wouldn't stand back from that. Men who realised that dangers lay elsewhere, and fought there as their nation asked they do. Just some of the heroes of the Australian nation. McKenzie was glad that their legacy was remembered as fondly as it was. Joseph's father, a Vietnam veteran, had been ridiculed by the country he had served so dutifully. But all of them, while heroic, fought for foreigners. The Anzacs for some far-off King, the Australians in Vietnam for America. And where were they now? Britain was surrounded by enemies on the continent, and America lay in pieces, broken and disgraced. And Australia was gladly free of both.

Crossing the bridge, they exited the main road, the cordon of New Guard affiliated police officers, new green and black uniforms looking particularly effective with the utility vest they wore over it. It was the uniform of a group to be respected and feared. After leaving the road, they were on King Street. A King. That was what they needed more than anything. In this time of humanity's dark hours, the fact that Australia remained without a King was the epitome of Joseph McKenzie's chagrin. He was the Regent, not a King. The New Guard Counts of course still disagreed on how they should go about finding one. An elective King was, of course, out of the question. Democracy had proven its weakness and pliability. That was why Canberra's Parliament House now lay in ruins. A mandate for rule must be established, and that was where disagreement lay. Should the King be hereditary? No-one could agree. One day, he thought, I will make up my mind and that will be the end of it.

Joseph looked out of the car door. Outside the car, many people stood, wishing to get a view of the High Regent as he went past, most waving New Guard flags, cheering and whistling, the sound muffled by the car, all of them kept from intruding onto the road by the green-uniformed guards. A wave would not be out of place, of course. McKenzie lowered the window, a black-gloved hand making the customary wave. The cheering increased. Those who had a view of him were enthralled. Those who did not were jealous. McKenzie was happy for the reception a burgeoning monarchy had received in Australia. Land of the culling of tall poppies, and yet the tallest poppies at all, the Counts and their New Guard cadre, were welcomed with jubilant affection. Joseph was surprised by this, finding it ironic to say the least. But gladdened too.

The car turned onto Hunter Street, then onto Macquarie Street, home of the old parliament building. It was a museum now, of course. 'Parliament Museum of Old Australiana', or something like that. The New Guard government had built a second one in close proximity more recently. A more modern and large building right in Hyde Park, for housing more ministers of the rump parliament. It let the people have their 'Democracy' in peace. But it did not do much, of course. One could not trust debate to reach any good conclusion. The nation needed strong central leadership. As the car wheeled around to College Street, it stopped opposite the building. The sandstone walls emulated some kind of beautiful Greek or Roman temple - an homage to Western civilisation. The car door opened, and the cheering of crowds around was deafening. Joseph McKenzie stood from the car, and waved again as he walked into the front of the building.

Various officials stood with green and black cockades in front of the stairs to the parliamentary gallery. McKenzie shook each one's hand, slowly making his way up towards the balcony area. The doors lay open, and inside was the balcony overlooking the Parliament. His gallery was adorned with flags, of the New Guard, and of the nation itself. Below, the parliament stood and politely clapped, welcoming the High Regent. It was not his regular duty to oversee parliament sessions, but today was special.

"Welcome the High Regent of Australia Joseph McKenzie, and honourable members of this parliament. I bring the meeting to order," a man older even than McKenzie, dressed in blue, white and red robes, a similar green and black ribbon on his wig, spoke feebly in front of the parliament. The Speaker of the House - again, the irony was not lost on McKenzie. But beyond the initial welcome, there were various bureaucratic issues that needed to be sorted before the important issues were discussed. The High Regent detested bureaucracy. Just as well that, at that moment, a friendly face came through the door to the gallery.

"Joseph, good to see you mate!" One of the High Regent's cadre, Ryan Chapman, another Count, this time of nearby Newcastle, shook McKenzie's hand as he entered.

"Ryan, thank God..." Joseph muttered a little more subtly than the other Count did, not wanting to make it obvious that he was as disinterested as he was in parliamentary matters. Though perhaps it should have been obvious, "How are ya? I haven't seen you in a while."

Chapman took a seat next to Joseph, "Evidently better than you, mate. But, I heard you had an announcement to make, and I wouldn't miss that."

Joseph chuckled, "See those cameras down there? That's how you don't miss that, you dud."

Chapman reciprocated by laughing. Joseph could hear that the Parliament below was slowing down somewhat, registering the High Regent's disinterest. As if McKenzie cared.

"So, any chance for a sneak peek?" Ryan asked, angling to hear from the Regent. A waiter arrived with drinks and an entrée. Both men were known to the staff here, and their drink orders known also. McKenzie, whiskey; Chapman, Victoria Bitters. McKenzie sighed at the man trying to hear about what he had come into Parliament to speak about.

"I'll tell you with everyone else. Drink your bloody drink," the smile on the High Regent's face let Chapman know that he was not serious. As Chapman began to drink, he spluttered slightly.

"Oh, by the way, I was told to give you this," Chapman held up a letter. It had the Indonesian coat of arms on it. McKenzie sighed, placing down his whiskey as he picked up the letter, gazing at the envelope.

"Any idea what this is about?"

Chapman shook his head, "Something important if they spent money making an envelope for us."

Both men chuckled. The High Regent reached for the cheese-knife, slicing open the envelope. The letter was small, printed on quality card. He read it out.

"'To: High Regent Joseph McKenzie, New Guard of Australia, warm Greetings. Best Regards, Sudirman Said, President of Indonesia'... What is this?"

Chapman leaned back in his chair, "Damned if I know. Your call. I couldn't give a shit about diplomacy to the North."

McKenzie nodded, "That said, they do have a number of refugees. Perhaps, if we were to comply and visit with them, they could be incentivised to keep them rather than pestering us to take them back."

It was Chapman's turn to nod. He took a sip of his beer, before pausing again and speaking, "They're also quite rich. I mean... We're on the rise, but they're doing just fine, so it seems."

McKenzie sighed, "Perhaps it would be an idea to attend this meeting after all," he glanced back at his attache, "Remind me to organise that."

The attache nodded. Just at that moment, a green light turned on in the gallery. The Speaker's frail voice sounded from below.

"And now, I would like to invite High Regent Joseph McKenzie to speak."

McKenzie straightened up his tie and winked towards Chapman. He stood up, brushing off his uniform as he did so, and leaned over the balcony, the flags of his compatriots beside him. He cleared his throat and spoke, voice booming through a microphone.

"My fellow Australians. It is no secret that our nation is one facing hardships. We have struggled under the yoke of governments which did not care for us, we have endured hardships as a nation, and endured them together. However, we face our greatest challenge yet - the destruction of our way of life through the aridization of our inland regions. People have been forced from their homes by drought, townships have been removed from the map. If we do not act, Australia as we know it will be unlivable. But I propose a solution."

There was a murmur from below. Some of agreement with what the High Regent was saying, others of concern, and many of interest with what the solution would be.

"For years, our nation has been suffering, and what has the United Nations done about it? What have the Commonwealth done about it? Nothing! And yet, our country has access to one of the greatest sources of water in the world, and yet we have been blocked from it by a paper shield, set up by the United Nations and others, in order to keep us subservient."

General murmurs of anger from below. The High Regent's attache handed him a nondescript piece of paper. The High Regent opened it up.

"This is their shield. The 'Antarctic Treaty'. Australia holds the largest segment of any country within Antarctica, and yet foreigners' laws block us from using that wealth to benefit Australia. And so I say this - Australia now withdraws from the Antarctic Treaty, effective immediately."

He tore the paper up, punctuating his statement, throwing it down to the sound of applause. He leaned on the edge of the gallery.

"From today, Australia now owns as sovereign territory all land it has a traditional claim to on Antarctica. And from there, Australia shall rise from the situation it finds itself in. We shall live across our country, and we shall flourish there, paper treaties be damned!"

The parliament below cheered at the High Regent's words. They knew what this would mean. Australia would begin working on retrieving the wealth of water resources from Antarctica, and dying communities could be brought back from the brink. Water would be plentiful in this sunburnt land, and they knew who to thank for it.

First Occitan Republic

Image

Outside the recently erected Palais Occitan, thousands upon thousands gathered to voice their concerns over recent events. And there were many concerns to be had. There was a time when it appeared that Europe had its worse days long behind it, that there was finally a chance for peace in the war-torn continent. How foolish they all were to believe in such futile dreams. Another American civil war. The Vatican and the Eiffel Tower destroyed. Everyday, when you turn on the news, there's a new reminder of how much the world had gone to shit. When would the madness ever end? A thought echoed throughout the minds of many throughout Bordeaux that day. Hell, each and every day. And then a new thought arises in response. How did we ever let it get this bad in the first place?

The streets were an utter madhouse. The earth shook as the crowd moved closer and closer towards the palace, wanting to be sure they were heard. Calls for war and vengeance weren't uncommon. Neither were the curses and insults thrown at the government officials themselves for their inability to make a hasty decision. It might have been a miracle that the police were able to keep relative peace. No tear gas thrown into the crowd, no innocents hurt. Nothing for the media to get their hands on besides the massive event that affected Bordeaux and maybe even the entirety of Occitania herself.

The inside of the government building was hardly better than outside, either. Hundreds of opinions were being voiced, very loudly mind you, with little order in Parliament. In the center of it all stood Amélie Chastain, microphone in her hand as she called for attention to be moved from Paris to Rome. Everyone knew of the trouble brewing across the Alps, with their army mobilizing to soon move into France. But the Islamic Caliphate in Paris might prove to be an issue that would best be nipped in the bud, well before it can gain any momentum and wreak its havoc across the rest of France. Nevertheless, the reach of Occitania wasn't long, and stretching it too thin would solve neither problem.

"The fascist pagans on our doorstep may call themselves our allies, and that is all well and good, but their troops will soon be pouring into our lands that we have struggled for so long to attain. We avert all our eyes toward that upstart "Caliphate" with little power, and we ignore the parasitic presence that wishes invitations into our home. Our first and foremost priority should always be to preserve Occitan independence. Not concern ourselves with the dealings of Northern France."

"Rome may soon prove to be a problem in the future, yes, but they are still our allies. You would wish Occitania to be known as a backstabber? No, in a world running amok with violence and war, we need all the allies we can muster, even if they are heathens," Deputy Paul Jacob replied through gritted teeth. "So we let them move into the north, let them destroy that Caliphate. God knows it needs to be. Meanwhile, as war ravages on and Rome take heavy losses trying to gain headway into France, we come out on top. We become the undisputed power in Western Europe."

As the parliament muttered to themselves and those near them, a voice arose, Philippe Bourguignon. "You admit Rome is our ally, but you would not help them for Occitania's personal gain? Rather hypocritical of you then, to chastise Deputy Chastain on backstabbing. If we let Rome into our borders, we might as well help them. Since as you said, 'they are still our allies.'"

"Disgusting, all of you. We may become 'backstabbers,' but at least Occitania will have retained it's dignity. Instead you wish to either sell our souls to the devil or allow him to walk freely through Occitania. When Rome tramples through Northern France, as it likely will considering its disunity, we'll have been surrounded on both sides by this threat. A threat that we could've stopped, but instead we'll allow the cancer to grow and end Occitania's life. This is the decision we shall be making if we do not put an end to the dictator in Rome."

Léon sat by, taking in all sides of the argument as parliament further divided itself. Nothing, it seemed, would get them to agree to a decision, and he could hardly say a word about it. In truth, he himself was undecided. And judging by his friend's eyes and furrowed brows, the prime minister wasn't either. Léon, trying to be heard over all the madness.

"When this mess is over with, why don't we head to the bar? I could use something to ease this headache," he said to Charles Dubois, longtime ally and current prime minister.

Charles laughed a genuine, hearty laugh, rare in times such as these. "And you think alcohol is going to help?"

Léon flashed him a smile. "No, but it would prolong the headache until morning at least." He soon began to join Charles in the laughter, before beginning to speak again. "If the world ends tomorrow and we're killed by the heathens in Rome or Paris, I'll least I'd be able to get out of this shitty place."

The debates raged on until the sun was on the verge of falling beneath the horizon. The streets were quieter than they once were, but the evidence of the large crowd remained. News reporters flocked into the government building, wanting to be the first to break the news on Parliament's decision. The die had been cast and the roll had decided on Occitania's fate. Soon enough, the Roman army will be making its way into Occitania, pouring across the Alps. The Occitan Armed Forces would put up no resistance unless Rome gives them a reason. No support would be given on the ground, but Occitania would provide crucial air support to Rome, maintaining air superiority over Paris with their own fighters and allowing Rome to use Occitan air bases. The fight for Northern France would begin, and Occitania may be being played like a damn fiddle by Rome, but everyone knew this: Western Europe was standing at the precipice of change, and the fall was filled with strife for all.

REPUBLIC OF INDONESIA
Senayan Complex, Jakarta

THE People’s Representative Assembly chamber was a massive room of long, curved tables and rich decorations, with pieces of advances technology such as a holograaphic screen in the front. The premier Indonesian legislature consisted of five hundred and sixty seats, of which only ten are not elected democratically – the spots are reserved for Armed Forces and government representatives, five each. The consitutional amendment was made to strengthen government position and promote “national unity”, though in practice every executive attempt to exercise power always ended up miserably. But Said was not the earlier presidents; he had ambition, cunning, wealth, and ultimately his vision for the country. He will see Indonesia strangling every Southeast Asian and Oceanian country there is, in his tenure.

As Indonesia Raya reached its final line, Said whisked off his stance of salute, returning back to his seat. Not long after, the Speaker of the Assembly took on the microphone and shouted loudly. “We give the honours to Sudirman Said, President of Indonesia, to adress the Assembly.” By the end of that sentence, the Speaker’s voice croaked in a high pitch that Said was afraid he might go mute the very moment. The politician was a very old man, in his nineties by the look. Nonetheless, Said walked past the dying politician and took the podium for himself. “Thank you, Mr. Kusna. Please, take a seat,” he started.

“Honored members of the Assembly. In this address, I would like to point out something – a matter very crucial to our continuity as a sovereign state,” he continued. “Firstly. I would like to point out the excess number of refugees that has been pouring to our seas over the last six months. These refugees had reached a staggering amount of five million – yes, five million people washed ashore in Indonesian islands. To be frank, we cannot continue this any longer.” He saw the face of Americans, Chinese, and Middle Eastern members of parliament glaring angrily and talking loudly at each other. This would certainly not do, he thought.

He loudened his voice and screamed. “Hear! If we let these influx of people getting in any longer, there soon wouldn’t be anymore space for us to live. Do you live in water, honored legislators?” Chuckles and murmurs of angers can be heard both. “Therefore, therefore,” he screamed, “We need to solve this population matter as fast as possible. My cabinet took the liberty of renouncing asylum to all refugees as far as a year.” The sound of anger now became as loud as thunder. A member of the Assembly shouted fiercely to him. “By what rights do the government decides who to enter and who to leave? I should have known that putting you in the Merdeka Palace would only lead us to dictatorship.” A cheer erupted from the Assembly seats; another larger cheer responded that. Said rolled his eyes in dismay.

“Technically, I do have authority – your Law 23 of 2032 gave the President asylum authorities. But we didn’t came here to discuss laws and points. The nation cannot accept anymore refugees; we are already full. And this would be the end of it. You might want to send them to Khmer or Australia,” he pointed at the politician, “or house them in your own real estate.” An applause followed his statement, as he managed to silence the opposition politicians. “Secondly, and I hope this will bring more unity than the last topic – is our supply and management of crucial resources; namely electricity and water."

"As you all know, members of parliament, Indonesia’s water supplies are dependent on lakes and desalination plants now; our rivers and streams had dried up like it was all over the world. However, as I have received a report from the Ministry of Enviromental Affairs last night – three main lakes and one artificial lake is subject to drying and heavy pollution. The Singkarak lake in Western Sumatra, for instance.” The holoscreen projector showed a nearly dried up lake, with dead fish scattered all over its coast. “The Bratan lake in Bali,” he continued. The holoscreen now projected the image of a vast, fertile plain; in the exact spot a massive lake had been only two years ago. A particularly famous temple stood barren on its coast; paradise no more.

Said continued. “Lake Sentani, beneath the Cycloop Mountains.” The image of a glimmering city now flared up, beyond it an empty, vast plain. “There’s a city being bulit over the lake’s remains, for God’s sake.” A murmur of whispers, and fear, he thought, swept over the Parliament Chamber. “For how long are we going to let this happen? Ten years from now, I am sure – we won’t have anything to drink left.” A voice of agreement swept over the hall. “Dreaded, yes. But as every sickness has its cures, we have a solution devised. A relatively simple one at that. But we in the government needs the Parliament’s permission.” Curious noises fìlled the hall; he haven’t spoke to anyone, not even his own party peers about the recent cabinet meetings.

“South of us lies a continent made of pure water – Antarctica. Salt water, as the researchers said, but we already bulit desalination plants more than count. And that extremely large chunk of water hass been claimed by these so-calle superpowers; Britain, France, Norway, New Zealand, Australia. But none of them survived the calamities that befall their home continents. Each one of them split or broken!” An applause followed his words; he let the cheerings come down for a minute.

He continued his speech. “But we – we survived. We managed to crawl through the conflicts in the Pacific, in China, in America. We are a haven – and as a haven provides needs for its inhabitants, so must us. I tell you this; we are not a signatory of the Atlantic Treaty. Moreso, we are a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council. Our economy is second-largest in all Asia, even maybe the World. What rules prevent us from taking a territory that belongs to all mankind?” A cheer erupted in the Chamber. “Right now as we speak, an expeditionary fleet is estabilishing a base in Antarctica. My government may had overpassed the Parliament’s authority at first – but this is all for the greater good of our nation. We-“

A politician in the back interrupted him. “Send corvettes!” Another, louder voice followed him. “No, send frigates!” Another, yet louder, screamed again; “Not enough yet! Send the cruisers and carriers and the whole Navy!” Not long after, a thunderous echo of “Send the ships!” swept the whole People’s Representative Assembly. Said smirked, widely – his plans had come into fruition. He did not care what Britain or France or its remains have to say; no-one would dare to take a step against the largest navy in the world so far. He applauded the interest and gave parting words; he descended the podium afterwards. Leaving the Parliament Chamber, the State Secretary approached him.

“The Assembly is sure to let you took over.” Bald yet charming, Osman Hilal had been the State Secrerary for ten years – and he enjoyed being the corrupt bureaucrat very much. “I could care less,” Said answered. “I told them the reality, and let them have their grasp on it. I gave them a drastic solution, and they happily cheered. Our neighbors to the south won’t take it easily on this, I presume.”

The two walked in silence for a minute, until Hilal responded. “Well, such is politics – dark and ridiculous. Anyway, you have a letter.” The man handed him an envelope, marked with the seven-pointed star in a flashy Australian style. The President chuckled. “You’re my coureer now? Postman?”

“How insolent...” the man said in a subtle voice. He chuckled again. “Cut it. The kangaroo would not hop so far north, and so far south; not with a full fleet wrapping around the Timor Sea. See, we have more airbases than them, more planes and everything; it shan’t be so hard if these fascists think they can challenge democracy.”

The other man smiled widely. “Putting the free in freedom, are we.” Hilal paused for a second. “My grandparents were bankers far in Syria, once ago. When the Westerners came they told us they’ve gone to bomb the shit out of the oppresive regime, but it was their home that the Westerners blown up,” he said. “It’s only ironic I must be the Westerner now.” Said could make up a tint of sorrow in his voice.

“No, my friend, we’re not the Americans, the British, or any other NATO forces striding into a country and bombing things up,” Said responded, “nor are we the Russians, interfering anywhere they can stick their nose. Antarctica is one big chunk of land and water where man haven’t set out a civilization before, except for us now. If the Australians struck us first, that is going to be their matter. Not us.” They stopped in front of the Parliament Building, where a car was waiting for the President. “Well, I have to address this letter first,” Said ended the conversation.”I wish you good day, Hilal.”

The Socialist Union of Yugoslavia

Sofia, The Socialist Union of Yugoslavia

A cold January wind was keeping the streets of Sofia a merger 3°C with snow covering the many streets and plazas of the capital city of the union. The Largo the main government centre of the union was experiencing a slow day of work, with not really much going on inside the Socialist Union many of bureaucrats and politicians that usually flock towards the Largo were not there. Only a few ministers and of course the premier remained inside the official party headquarters of the Yugoslav Communist Party. From the office of the Premier, Comrade Aleksander Andonov was filing papers detailing the communist party position both inside and outside the Union. He took particular attention to a report detailing that the Yugoslav communist party's efforts in to try improve the position of the Greek Communist Party. As he was looking over the report Dušan Mihaylov the chief foreign minister of the Socialist Union peered his head through the door looking to see if Aleksander was busy in a meeting. Once he found his answer he proceed to knock on the door which was open. Dušan quickly stepped into the office, it decorated with paintings and sculptures of the Socialist Realism that was common place in a Socialist society. Behind the desk of Aleksander was two paintings of Lenin and Trotsky that had been placed at the request of Aleksander. "Comrade Premier, the foreign ministry wishes to give it weekly report to you." Dušan stated as Aleksander looked up towards Dušan giving him a nod to continue with what he was saying. "We have reports that the UN wishes to call an emergency meeting to discuss the recent news of the drying up of oil wells inside the middle east and what should be done to eventuate
a complete collapse of the world economy." Aleksander placed his paper toward the right hand side of his desk as he nodded in silence for a moment evaluating the situation before sitting up in his chair and speaking

"This does seem to be of great importance and one that does need our immediate attention especially with the wars that are currently going oil will become even harder to come by. However I do believe that the UN would do little to change the situation unless it can truely change its self for the better but none the less we should voice our opinions. Make sure that a good team of delegates are present at the meeting to voice our concerns about the things going and how we should deal with them." Aleksander ordered as he clasped his hand together and leaned forward.

"We also have reports that there appears to be refugees crossing the border from the Roman Republic into the Socialist Union and these reports have also been confirmed by the Ministry of Internal Revolution that they believe them to be Italian Christians fleeing the Roman dictatorship." Dušan stepped forward give a dossier of a collection of papers and photographs detailing groups of refugees entering the Union. Aleksander picked up the dossier and looked through it before closing it "It would seem so. I will pass on a message to the ministry of Internal Revolution to set up camps for those fleeing the dictatorship of Rome and to make sure they are looked after according to our socialist values. I will also send a message to Comrade General Enej Tomić about assigning some men to the border in order to control the situation encase it develops. For now release an official statement on the matter." Aleksander quickly set about writing on a piece of paper a reminder to himself to discuss the the refugee situation with the respective people in the Union government while still wrote Aleksander asked "How goes about our diplomatic mission to Moscow? Comrade."

"Well Comrade Premier I have gathered our best diplomats and Russian translators as well I have assigned Mirko Pavić the son of a Russian Communist to be head of the mission. We hope that our admission into the The Eurasian Defence Alliance can go slowly." Comrade Dušan responded quickly clearly happy with his choice for the mission to Moscow. Aleksander also seemed happy as he gave a small smile while still writing.

"Well let us hope that they allow us into the organisation once again I remember when the reunification happened and we well we never officially joined back as Yugoslavia want to focus internally for a bit. At least it will help us in the long run. If that is all you are free to go comrade as I have some party issue I need to attend to." Aleksander expressed as he stud up from his chair fixing his suit before heading towards to the door picking up his brief case. Dušan followed behind stepping out of the office as Aleksander locked the door ending his day there.

Seattle, Washington
Cascadian National Council

"It is obvious that we need to gather the support of the people against the rising tide of oppression and destruction from the United States, as such. We wish to push for the Military Inclusive Act, which is to allow all people to join the military of the Cascadian people. As well as not needing to hide their identity for who they are, for that lowers morale for those soldiers. However, it is for their own discretion if they wish to or not. As long as they fight for the beautiful lands of Cascadia, we should not complain for who they are." The fellow Council members nodded their agreement, other than the annoyed Democratic member, though he knew he couldn't do a thing while the Cascadian Independence Party and the Anarchist Union had a majority. When the vote came forward, there was an overwhelming support for the move. There wasn't even any written documents, it was all done later and just made into effect. It was a pain in the ass for anyone who was forced to try and enforce such specific laws, but it was the only thing they had working for them.

Then the next topic was the alliance with the Khmer, at least the agreement that they wanted. Free trade and the ability to secure the ocean, it was something to speculate, though they wondered how they obtained an embassy in their nation. This was answered when the Libertarian member leaned forward and chuckled, "I heard one of the embassies in their nation before it joined together was filled overwhelmingly with those of the Pacific Northwest, they at first declared themselves part of the Democratic States but once we claimed our own independence, they joined us. It was quite amusing actually, I have the number for the Ambassador whom I can call later."

The other members were just as amused when they saw it was directed towards the President, "They must not know he's just a good looking scapegoat!" They all started to laugh at the powerless President they had above them in only name. The Libertarian volunteered to communicate with their embassy, which was allowed. Then came a long discussion on what to say in return, which came to a letter finally managed to be written and sent by the Cascadian embassy.

Subject: Diplomatic Relations

Dear President Thịnh

We understand the wishes of closer relations for the Pacific region, the need to keep our coasts safe from the chaos currently burning across the world with the recent attacks upon Paris made by the Federal Republic of America alongside the current raging American Civil War which we find ourselves an active combatant. We would happily accept a free trade pact and a customs union, to close our relations and the establishment of copyrights and a redline connection. Our Government has happily accepted such an idea, alongside the wishes for trade and military talks. but further communications must be done by officials of our Government, finding that a face to face talks would be more official and truly show our willingness to enter into such an agreement, to set a precedent in this new chaotic world.

We await your response,
Ambassador Helena Day

Presidential Mansion, Seattle

"We need to mobilize the militia, our armed forces cannot stand alone in its fighting nor can we mobilize those reserves yet. We must bolster our numbers and keep our well trained reserves prepared in case of something going wrong, so I wish to order that we call into service 400,000 more men from our militia. It will allow us to begin more offensive operations, which will then lead to our victory."

The Generals sat around the table, the radio playing a song for Cascadia, which helped unite the people during the hard times. Down on the map was the state of Idaho, which had several lines showing the movement of units. Along with major cities such as Nampa and Boise, it was a ambitious move but it was a necessary one, "We must take the state quickly, if we wish to stop fighting such a horrid two front war, we must take Idaho. Once we obtain the Rocky Mountains, at least this side of it, we can bar entry with roadblocks or completely destroying the roads. Then we move in anti-air emplacements which will prevent any sort of counterattack by United States forces from the east, thus making it so they only required to defend from the south.

"Sir, if we mobilize our forces they are only militia. How many men are you even dedicating to this offensive?" asked one of the generals, who was concerned with this operation. Mostly because he was in charge of logistics and it was always hell doing such a thing with modern armies, "Well, I believe we should dedicate half of the militia to the offensive and pull all but 5,000 men from the front lines with the Democratic States. The Generals were shocked, "You want to put almost all our regulars into this attack! Are you insane!" The President would not falter, "I am perfectly sane, this is our only chance at being able to defend the homeland of Cascadia. The people will side with us, we are the true wills of Democracy, our air force will strike any airbases in the states and try their best to eliminate anti-air positions. Once we control the skies we will dominate the ground. Now get it over with, dismissed!"

Southwestern Antarctica Declared As UN Land In Controversial Decision

General-Secretary of the UN Francis Pratt has recently declared Southwestern Antarctica to be UN Land and not to be claimed by any sovereign state. The move has sent angry shockwaves across the world, as nationalists demand the removal of Pratt from the Secretariat, calling him 'a tyrant globalist who wants to unify the world under the NWO'. Protests have begun in many major cities decrying Pratt and telling their respective governments to leave the UN. Many nations have already threatened to do so, calling Pratt 'a threat to national sovereignty across the world', despite this, however, Pratt is most likely to stay in his position.

The outrage has taken many TV stations and newspapers to rail against the UN, pressing similar demands on their governments. The President of Switzerland has announced his intentions to stick with the UN, as others follow suit. Nations are now stuck between picking their own sovereignty or world peace. The Chairman of the NDO Lionel Matz has commented: "This is a new step towards a more peaceful world."

The new land will be used to build a new UN building, along with humanitarian and peacekeeping facilities. It will effectively be the base of the UN and its constituent organisations. Another interesting thing is the fact that the NDO has been given a permit on the land to build their HQ there. Many say that the UN and the NDO are linked, however this is mostly unsubstantiated conspiracy. The new UN building, set to be finished in June 2036, will be a large, postmodern glass structure with ice sculptors hired to create the finest statues outside, along with a large garden containing every species of plant in the world, and a large international science lab underground. A dome will be built around it once all the necessary structures that the UN intends to build are complete, which include a university, an extension to the science lab, an international living quarters along with an international park.

NDO Operations Begin

The newly formed NDO, under celebrity author and successful businessman Lionel Matz, who owns 21st Century Stock, an investment and stocktrading company that profited off buying stock during the Great Recession more than 20 years ago, has begun operations from their Antarctic base. Conspiracy theorists, of course, have already flooded the interwebs with theories that the NDO is the illuminati and that Matz is the antichrist, as is usual. One particularly interesting conspiracy theory is that of the "Grand Neoliberal Unification", where Matz is allied with the UN, the IMF and other pro-establishment organisations. There are hints that UN General-Secretary Pratt and IMF Chairman Moreau are members of the NDO, although this is unconfirmed.

Matz has asked all leaders interested in joining the NDO to contact him and set up a meeting, along with letting any regular citizen join the organisation. The NDO has positioned itself in a position ready to become the defender of liberal democracy and to combat the anti-establishment forces rising around the world. There are also fears that it may begin coups in certain countries, but this is mostly unsubstantiated.

The NDO have begun to set up spy networks across the world, building clandestine bases in every nation along with beginning mass recruitment. These new recruits will be ready to wage political war on the surface and dark webs, along with fight a war in the streets if need be. The recruitment efforts are currently not focused for now.

Chicago, Willis Government Building

“So what you’re telling me is that the nation, in almost all aspects, is perfect?”
“Yes. Other than minor power outages and the crime rate being the highest it’s been in forty years, Liberium is perfect.”
The Executive thought about this for a moment. Power outages? Easily fixed thanks to the ubiquitous nuclear reactors in Illinois. The crime rate? Throw the Executive Army into the mix and it should be rectified.
“Anything else I should be aware of, Markus? Any uprisings in Iowa or Detroit?”
See, Iowa and Detroit had been a pain in the arse for the Executive. Whether it’s was this or that, certain counties in Iowa, along with most of Detroit, opposed him almost every step of the way. Means of the disobedience ranged from peaceful marches (Iowa) to bloody riots (Detroit), but all just threw gas on an already raging blaze.
“No sir.”
“You are dismissed, thank you Markus.”
