Shut up old man! The communist party is full of oldies like you that can’t handle their precious iron fist government being dissolved, and spurt propaganda like this! Didn’t Stalin also promise greater personal freedoms?

Whilst I do not back Stalin's policies, he was an admirable man. He defended the Soviet Union in the Great Patriotic War and rooted out enemies from within. He put the Soviet Union, which beforehand barely even made it as a secondary power, on an equal footing with the United States. Before you wax poetic about the gulags, I ask you one thing: what is the death toll of the gulags?

It has been an honor to serve as the Prime Minister of Russia. It seems that since President Zhirov announcer the December elections, almost every politician in Russia has set their sights on the Presidency. Whether or not I run ultimately rests on Zhirov’s decision. I will only run if Zhirov decides not to seek reelection.

Arkady Sapozhnik

Novo-Ogaryovo, Odintsovsky, Moscow Oblast, Russia

Sapozhnik held up his hands as if he were an innocent man suddenly accused of a crime. "Mr. President, I don't plan, I merely have intentions. I'd like to help the President, by offering what skills I can provide." He held his hands out, like he were making an material offering. "So you do not have a successor in mind?" He asked, perking an eyebrow. Serebrov could be more important than first thought. "How unconventional." He mused, putting out feelers. "Yeltsin had his protege in Zholdin, Zholdin groomed Nechayev, and Nechayev, I presume, chose you."

Marija was at his side, offering her phone. If it were another aide he would have shouted at them for daring to approach during the middle of important discussions, but he trusted her judgement. The Prime Minister had just this moment thrown his hat in the ring, making an announcement of his intention to run - assuming Zhirov did not - independently on VKontakte. He offered the phone to the President to see. "Successions can be messy, particularly when announcements like this put on pressure and undermine your authority. All I want is stability."

President Vassili Zhirov
Novo-Ogaryovo

“I have faith in the PM, and if my final decision is not running, he is better than anyone as a successor.” Zhirov informed Sapozhnik. “And the PM has made it very clear that he does not intend to undermine my authority, hasn’t he? The party is backing me, the PM is backing me, and the people are backing me, and if I decide to not run, I myself will back the PM. Here’s the deal, Sapozhnik, I will spend tomorrow in closed discussion with my team and administration, especially the Prime Minister, and my final decision will be out by the day after that.” Zhirov finished.

Boris Vasilyevich Konovalov

"No. Just to make it clear," Konovalov said, placing the two cases of fifty thousand dollars at Serebrov's desk, "I am your candidate for State Duma Chairman next election. I will be running in Moscow. The City, not the Oblast - let us see how Savenkov deal with it, much as you like it. The rest would be transferred gradually." Boris took a seat in front of Serebrov. "Just to make this clear. Who is our nominee for December, Serebrov? I would think you took the position, being Zhirov's apparent successor. No, I am not trying to push your side or being granted a Cabinet position. Instability, and the Communist Party, can bring a disruption to business...:

Arkady Sapozhnik

Novo-Ogaryovo, Odintsovsky, Moscow Oblast, Russia

"If you say so, Mr. President. But it's like in football. When I want a new coach, I get rid of the old one first. If the players know that you are considering getting rid of the coach, they no longer listen, or respect him. He has no authority. Makes it harder to keep him around." Noting the President's nonchalance towards the subject he relented, giving a shrug. "That is not to say the Prime Minister is not the best man for the job. I cannot say. I have not met him. He has invited me to do so after seeing you, however. So we shall see." Sapozhnik gave him a nod. "I will firmly support whatever decision you make, and look forward to the announcement." The billionaire rose to his feet, gazing towards the door. "May I go?"

Back in the limousine Marija sent a text ahead to Serebrov's staff to let them know that he was en route to the White House. "Non-commital. He sounded very... non-commital. And in two days we get a decision." Sapozhnik mused, chewing his lip. "I don't think he will run. I'm very interested in meeting Serebrov, and in what he is going to say."

"That VK post has pressed the advantage," She noted.

"You could say that." He chuckled. "The President did not seem bothered, but if someone had made that sort of post about me while working for one of my businesses?" He shook his head. "Gone." The extreme level of co-operation between President and PM seemed to have lessened in his absence, which made him all the more curious to meet Serebrov. Zhirov had since made a post of his own announcing that he had not decided, but otherwise the PM did have his support. Regardless, it looked like Serebrov would remain in a position of influence come December.

He was quickly let into the house of government upon arrival, a receptionist soon guiding him to the office of the Prime Minister.

President Vassili Zhirov

Zhirov simply nodded after Sapozhnik left to see the Prime Minister. He went to his office and sent an encrypted message over communication lines to the Prime Minister’s office.

I will be happy to attend a meeting, we can have it at Grand Kremlin Palace in the afternoon. I understand Mr. Sapozhnik is meeting you at the White House after this? We can discuss him in a closed session following the meeting… I also intend to discuss about my final decision for the presidential run and have it out by tomorrow during this session with the Kremlin Staff. My helicopter will arrive at Grand Kremlin Palace at 2 PM, see you then, Prime Minister.

“Our nominee has not been decided yet. Do you want an endorsement? The communist party will not gain a majority. Don’t worry, United Russia is the majority party in the Duma. As for being the chairman, I’ll vouch for you. But the second a better candidate crosses to my office, this deal could crumble. I wanted you in my cabinet, but I think you’re correct. You’d be better as United Russia’s most powerful legislator. I’ll make a VK announcement endorsing you.”

Serebrov just took a huge risk, but he knew it would pay off. He needed to go tell this to the President in a secure line.

Mr. President, I will give Governor Konovalov my endorsement for the Duma election. He would like to be chairman of the Duma. I’d thought I should check with you before sponsoring his bid for chairman. If you’d like, we could meet after I meet with Shapozhnick.

Whilst the rally was not for some time, Kyrlyakov began preparing for it. He had paid ads set up to get people to attend on his side, along with recruiting activists. He was intending to make it larger than the 2011 protests, as he had already signed up 5,000 people willing to attend. It was a dual plot: take down the President and gain the CPRF leadership at the same time. A full campaign was running, as fundraising efforts had begun pan-Russia. He had put on his old uniform from the days of the Politburo to symbolise what the rally was about. It was mostly full of anti-Western socialists, but he intended to turn it into a massive hybrid anti-government and anti-West rally with anti-capitalist overtones. He began to schedule meetings with trade union leaders to turn it into a massive show of support against the government and against the West. He also invited anti-European liberals and others, in order to bulk up the rally and perhaps seize the public imagination. This rally wasn't about Ivanow or even the West, it was effectively a launch pad of Kyrlyakov. He had began to plan a meeting with the leader of the CPRF, to get the entire party behind him....

Boris Vasilyevich Konovalov

"That is good to know," Boris answered, "and you have my thanks." He leaned not-so-comfortably in his seat. "I know that Edinaya Rossiya is the most powerful party in this nation - I helped that. What matters is steering the party and staying away from the controversies. There is also these advertisements; it seems that Prodniz Kyrlylakov had set his banners campaign early. He is a Communist strongman, if that party needs one. I am wary," he paused, "even though his influence extends only in the Red Belt. Lesser, I daresay." Boris waited for Serebrov to finish his response. "Anyways, I hold your words aboiut endorsement. I will check on the party's campaign later; I must go." He walked towards the door while checking on his VK, apparently Deputy Chudov had realized his war of words would bring nothing but more public humor for him and his opponent both. As he opened the door, there stood a face he wasn't expecting at all - Arkady Sapozhnik, the conglomerate. While he was absolutely startled, Boris did best to hide it, his expression remained normal. He greeted the man calmly.

"Sapozhnik. Privyet..."

Over these past weeks, I have had the opportunity to observe and evaluate the perspectives and agendas of the various candidates the upcoming State Duma elections. Governor Konovalov’s experience, as well as his hopeful insight into Russia’s problems and needs, and his willingness to examine the issues and listen closely to the public's questions and concerns, sets him far apart from the other candidates' expected techniques and talk. He is by far the most experienced candidate running in Moscow. I give my full support to his upcoming campaign.

Arkady Sapozhnik

White House, Moscow, Russia

Upon being escorted to the PM's office he was informed that the second most powerful man in Russian government was currently occupied in a meeting with someone else. Unused to being made to wait, he gave a rap upon the door and glanced at his watch. Not long after the door opened, only for Sapozhnik to stumble across a familiar face. "Boris, Privyet." He said, forcing a smile. He hadn't seen the energy magnate since Zholdin was in power. While one had gravitated more towards politics, the other had afterward focused more on business however, particularly in the west. Taking a guess why Konovalov was present, he could see the two were now headed for a similar destination however. "It has been a long time, perhaps we should catch up soon. I am not sure how long I shall be in Moscow for, but Marija should be able to squeeze you in," he gave a glance to his PA who nodded.

"If you will excuse me however, I have a meeting with the PM..." Sapozhnik explained, entering Serebrov's office.

Konovalov exited the room while Serebrov posted his VK endorsement. As Konovalov opened the door, Sapozhnik entered. Serebrov noticed the two were confused to meet each other, but couldn’t exactly understand why. They must have knew each other, but they weren’t very close.

“Privyet, Sapozhnik. I heard you are eyeing a campaign. BBC says you’re looking to seize the presidency, but you wouldn’t try to undermine Zhirov. Are you looking for a spot in the Duma? I can offer you a position as a minister as well. You would make a good trade minister or foreign affairs minister” adds Serebrov, picking up his dossier with Sapozhnik‘s qualifications.
