Biography: Ever since the collapse of the empire, many dissident religious sects have existed and flourished out where the main Church of The Cross was weak, The Serpent is one of them. Having a heretical take on The Cross ever since the councils, they escaped to the edge of the known empire, towards the protective rivers of the Triple Rivers. They hid quietly for much time, existing among the local peasantry quietly, biding their time for an opportunity to take power. In 895 AD an opportunity surfaced, the peasants were angry at an incursion by the local lord, increased taxes on grain and what not, the usual incursion. However this time, The Serpent had prepared. The new, young head of the sect, Arkadios Kosmas, desired more than just a hidden existence, and had previously integrated agents of The Serpent into the castle. Speaking as the local priest of the peasants, Kosmas had riled them up into a rebellious nature, armed them with basic arms, and set off towards the castle. Normally a weak rebellion such as this would've been crushed, but preparations had been made. Poison slipped into the castle water supplies, equipment damaged, and the gates opened, presumed by peasants to be servants who sympathized with the peasant cause. The peasants marched into the castle, killed any remaining resistance, and slaughtered their lord. Taking advantage of the situation, Kosmas used his leadership position as priest to establish himself as the new lord of the province. Upon establishing power, he set upon consolidating his power in the province for a few years. In 900 AD, after his power was consolidated, Kosmos began to look outside the Triple Rivers and onto the nearby lands.
