This evening, I made a mistake.

As you may know, there was a dreadful terrorist attack in our nation's capital this week. The main target of this attack was the offices of the Conservative Association, a municipal political party who's leader, Njal Stefanson was one of the frontrunners in the Commissioner's race. This evening, after round three in the election, Stefanson was eliminated from contention. I then posted a GIF mocking Stefanson less than a day after the devastating attack showing Nick Frost's character from the 2007 movie Hot Fuzz cocking a gun and saying "shame".

While I did not intend for the GIF to be a reference to the attacks, I realise now that it was inexcusable and tasteless. My actions tonight were the fault of nobody but myself. I take full responsibility and apologise for the insensitive nature of said post. The post has since been deleted.

I also realise the importance of actions over simple lip service. I earlier said I would match a donation to an LGBT charity with a donation to the victims. Instead, while I do still encourage the donation to said LGBT charity, I won't be matching anything. Instead, regardless if a donation is made to said charity, I will donate seventy thousand Krona to the victims of this attack. It is the least I can do for causing this fracas.

I'd also like to once again thank all those who supported the SLP/R and LGA in this election. While it may not have been the result we wanted, we worked hard in the campaign and fought the good fight. Politics is not about winning races, instead it's about making your voice heard. I solemnly promise that no voice of any Saint Hildan will go unheard, and the SLP/R and Alliance councillors who are currently in the City Council will take your voice to the municipal government in our capital.

Lance Darrow stood in a conference room, ready to walk onto the stage outside. He fiddled with the collar of his red suit, trying to ease his nerves. On the outside, he was the picture of calmness and confidence. Inside, his mind was a wreck.

When he walked into the Chamber in the very first session of Parliament, he had compared, in his head, politics to business. It was a game of deals, trades, alliances, betrayals. But somehow, this was a different arena entirely.

When he walked into the Chamber, he walked into a room full of radicals and idealists. Most of them were good people. Lance had never felt so different from everyone around him. These people believed in what they were saying. They cared about the country and the people. These people had beliefs, ideas, political stances. Lance was above such petty concepts.

Still, he based his schemes on rationality and predictability. But the Chamber was a game entirely different.. He had based his plots on the greed and ambition of others. Unfortunately, they seemed to lack both.

His entire strategy, approach, and gameplan needed to change if he was going to rise. The PFNS had been a failed experiment. It was time to move on. Still, he didn't know where to go from here. He was forged in the world of greed and betrayal. He didn't know how to manipulate people that cared so deeply about their ideals. It was absolutely terrifying, and his plans were being thrown into utter chaos.

Lance wiped some sweat off his forehead, trying to focus. This speech was where everything changed. Lance tried to breathe, feeling the panic start to overtake him. He looked around frantically for a moment before seeing it. On the table in front of him, there was a syringe.

He picked it up, found a vein in his arm, and injected it in. He waited a moment before feeling the effects. Suddenly, he was soaring, full of energy. He didn't feel worried. He knew that he could take on the entire world -- and win.

He took a sip of wine before stepping out onto the stage. The crowd roared, in equal number cries of delight and fury. Love and rage.

"Ladies and gentlemen," Lance said. The crowd continued to be loud. "Ladoes and gentlemen!" He shouted. The crowd continued. "Goddamnit, would you shut the hell up?" He asked. The crowd gre quieter.

"If I may speak, I'd like to talk about the wave of violence that has gripped our beloved nation over the last few days. As the government remains unable to act and the political conflicts of the Chamber are played out on the streets in more and more aggressive fashion, we have seen acts of violence between the right and left, and downright acts of terrorism!"

"It is more important now than ever that we hold our ground. I beg you not to strike out at your political opponents, whoever they may be. But I also tell you, do not fear! Our country is gripped by a moment of darkness. But even the darkest moment lasts only a moment. We in the Chamber have been working hard to establish a proper government to take care of the violence and crime that has gripped the street. Your enemies attempt to bully you into being afraid to vote. I beg you, do not yield! The moment you lay down your arms, the moment you give up the fight, you give up the right to control your own government. That is a right you cannot lose."

"This nation has been built, thus far, on democracy. We are a free nation, and it is our responsibility to make sure we remain free. It is our responsibility to make our voice heard. It is our responsibility to make sure that tyranny does not grip this nation."

"Freedom, both economic and personal, are matters of the utmost concern to St. Hilda. It is, therefore, only right that, as a representative of St. Hilda, I show the same concern for these rights. I strive to protect freedom, to fight dictatorship, and to banish tyranny far from our nation!"

A cheer went up from the crowd.

"I was briefly part of the PFNS -- a broken, corrupt party focused on crushing the rights of the citizens it is meant to represent. I now turn my allegiance to another party, one that I feel strived to protect the freedom of the populace: the FPP."

Another loud cheer went up from the crowd.

"Thank you for your time."

Lance stepped off the stage, taking in a shuddering breath. It was time to rebuild his strategy from the ground up.
