Hugo Inquist enters the room. His early start that morning was necessary for him to get to the capital on time. Hugo adjusted his Grey suit and glanced down at his watch. Looking back up he notices Alex and the other NPP members present all congregating in one area. He strides over making sure to keep his posture tall. Noticing the red carpet and wooden desks which lined the amphitheater like room he took a seat next to Alexander. "Good Morning Alexander. What do you suppose we take care of today?"

Alexander Norberg looks around, and noticing that nothing is happening, stands. "Esteemed colleagues, it appears no official business is beginning as of yet, so as we wait, I would like to address a grave matter at hand.

"I am sure you are all aware of the far-right members of this Parliament coalescing into the Popular Front for National Sovereignty. At first this may seem like a normal political party, but I assure you that it is not. These people are more than conservatives or traditionalists. They are fascists! Nazis in this Chamber! We must always be wary pf them before it is too late."

"I speak specifically of the so-called 'Legislative Bill 88.' I assume most of us have already read it, but for those of us who haven't: This bill directly states that all blacks and other nonwhites should be revoked of all rights a privileges and be made slaves of whites. Ladies and gentlemen, before anything else, this bill is absurd. It is purely insane that these fascists have the nerve to come to our new Caribbean nation and propose literal enslavement of all black people. I actually cannot think of a legislative proposal more outlandish than this one."

"But most of all, this bill is offensive. I cannot believe," he pauses as his tone becomes angrier, "that after all that has been done to people of color in the Americas, after all the discrimination and genocide and oppression for centuries, after all we've fought for, after our nation gained independence, these people would propose such a bill! These fascists believe nonwhites should be their property! HOW DARE THEY?!" Again he pauses as his loud, angry words echo around the quiet Chamber. "Now, I am no liberal or socialist, I am a conservative. But when you come for my people, when you say we should be treated as no more than animals-" his voice breaks- "I WILL FIGHT BACK! And when I read this bill, I will admit, I had tears of rage in my eyes. Tears of rage when I read that MEMBERS OF THIS PARLIAMENT wish to treat my people as property. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE!"

Alexander points at Heinz Buckliger, the sponsor of the bill. "You...SHAME ON YOU AND ANYONE WHO WORKS WITH YOU! YOU DISGUST ME, YOU NAZI SCUM! YOU HAVE NO PLACE HERE! I AM A BLACK MAN, AND I WILL FIGHT BACK AGAINST YOU!" He storms out.

Lance frowned. He had partially recovered from his earlier blurry thinking. He glanced at the angry politician as he stormed out. No, Lance did not agree with the Legislative Bill. But it was his job to follow the party, at least until he could stab it in the back.

He took a cigar from his pocket, lighting it and sliding it into his mouth. He pondered for a moment, noticing Viktoria's cry of agreement. He took the cigar from his mouth for a moment.

"You want to compare us to the Americas? This New World is a land of anarchy and chaos, fueled by a hate of monarchy, and all things right and proper. Do not follow their lead! Look instead to the flag of Sweden! There, across the ocean, lies our mother nation. Do not speak to me of 'the Americas'. We are a European nation, settled by European explorers, loyal to the European flag, and ruled by those of European blood. I will not sit back while you try to adapt to a world gone astray."

(OOC: The same. I would never say this irl, and probably would slap someone across the face if they did.)

Carl von Leslie rises from his seat.

"Hear, hear!"

He continues, "It disgusts me that my esteemed colleague was forced to depart from this sacred, inviolable chamber because some atrocious, illiberal interlopers decided to work in some barbarous piece of legislation that would not only enslave a significant portion of the population that has already been mistreated for hundreds of years, but would also severely limit the freedoms of the people it claims to elevate.

"I come from Germany. It is certainly not something I am proud of, but I descend from Nazis on both sides of my family. My father was forced to join the National Socialist Party at the behest of his own father, and was later subject to that regime's cruelty himself, being sent to a concentration camp after renouncing his party membership. He would always tell me of the unspeakable horrors that regime committed. Ordinary, innocent people being treated as less than human.

"My family has historical ties to Sweden, but I did not choose to be born a German, I chose to be a Swede, and I chose to be a Saint Hildan! The people who proposed and support this legislation have no right to call themselves Saint Hildans. This abhorrent legislation would take away everyone's freedom. Why did you come here? This is not the place for you!"

Von Leslie leaves the chamber to comfort his party leader.

"Well" said Zacharias Quinn to no one in particular. "It appears tensions are already running high"

Of course, tensions were bound to run high when such ridiculous nonsense as LB 88 was already coming off the drafting table. Confound those fools! Quinn briefly considered giving voice to his own disgust, but resisted the urge. Quinn was a man of tact, and shouting words that would likely go unheard in a din of loud voices would really not gain him much. He did, however, wonder if the other more conservative members of Parliament, particularly those of the NPP, shared Norberg's passionate disdain for the... How to put this delicately? The more radical right wingers among them. Quinn pulled out the little notebook he always kept on his person and made note to research the topic.

As he was putting the pen and pad away, he began walking away from the commotion, but promptly bumped into another individual. "Oh, I am so terribly sorry!" He exclaimed apologetically.

Viktoria rises again to speak.
"I have so many negative feelings around the so-called "Bill 88" and it's author. So let me expand on them. The author is an incompetent, spineless, wretched, infatuant, pestulent, oaf of a thing and I shant sully the good name of humankind by referring to it, by it I mean the so called author, as a human being. I would rather stick my hand in a blender full of hyperdermic needles than call this thing of a humanoid object a Saint Hildan. I condemn it, I condemn the thing that wrote it, and I condemn any thing that supports it, it referring to either the author or the bill.

Let me be absolutely clear. The idea that this thing would just waltz it's way into politics in a country with such a large and historically mistreated Black population is heinous and shouldn't be tolerated ever. I congratulate my follow members that have risen to the occasion and walked out after condemning this hideous thing and this hideous bill. I intend on doing the same."

She walks out, clearly agitated. Outside the legislature she takes out a copy of the bill and burns it with a lighter to a small crowd of reporters and bystanders. She then walks to the local cafe to calm down.

Albin Lundberg rose from his seat. "Ladies and Gentlemen," he tries to project his voice across the rowdy chamber, "how about let's ignore this so-called bill and its author who is trying to stir up conflict and discord among our honourable members. Instead, why not let us consider this wonderful bill that my colleague and fellow representative of the Social Democratic Party, Mr Seč, has put forward." He swiped a copy of the bill from the desk right next to him that belongs to Mr Seč, and began waving it around, still trying to get the attention of MPs.

Oscar Holme fixed his hat comfortably on his head as he spoke to the Chamber.

"Legislative Bill 88 is despicable. In fact, we shouldn't be spending any more time on it - because in the meantime, the suicide rate among our farmers are skyrocketing and something urgent needs to be done. We need to stop wasting our breath on identifiable Nazi-sympathizers and get on with the job that we were elected to do."

Rather confused, Anna Nilsson responds, "I had not implied in any way that the debate had not started — indeed my remarks were directed equally to those who discussed that terrible bill to which you referred, and on which I could not comment since I was not aware of its provisions before Mr Norberg's speech. I simply meant that discussing bills before the session is officially started — before all members have taken their seats — is of little use to anyone."

Albin Lundberg, now visibly frustrated, blurted out "Listen here, the truth is not every member is going to be here all the time. Since the debate has already started, we might as well get on with it and use this time productively."

Plumping himself back on his seat, he silently cursed.

Seč looked around, laughing softly at the roar in the chamber before standing up, his voice booming. “My fellows. We came here, to represent our Citizens and our Country. We came here, for the grandest of purposes, and yet here we are, squabbling like a group of 6th graders. We all know that LB88 is not going to pass, I would be surprised if it got three votes, and yet it seems that everyone must condemn it before we move on. We cannot work for our people if before the first session even opens, we set amongst ourselves to yelling and screaming. This is an emotional thing, this is the greatest endeavor-and we are wasting it. It seems to me that for whatever reason, the rest of the delegates are not going to be arriving anytime soon, and thus it falls to us to set the agenda of the day. So, shall we begin?”

Ehnström rolled his eyes at Norberg's speech. It seemed that everyone go on their high horse the second the obviously despicable and unrealistic comes about, it's easy to stand and lecture to the chamber, and those watching at home. Norberg was really working for the speaker possition.

"I must agree with my fellow MP Mr. Seč. We have a legislative agenda that is completely packed with important fictional legislation. We have yet to pass a a basic Governing I'll to establish the rules by which we operate, no real tax legislation, not a single thing has been done. Yet we stand here and carry on. Gallivanting about obvious evil, if this was truely as evil and absurd as we declared it to be then we'd let rot like the abhorrent history it harkons back too. Let us discuss our future.

Marius sympathized with Norberg, his own family had been slaves in Saint Hilda once already. But he didn't expect much change to come from the denunciation of the bill. Those that supported it, after all, were unlikely to change their minds based on his arguments. Perhaps it would be better to channel the current energetic mood of the parliament to more constructive means.

"Members, I believe it appropriate that we direct our attention towards the Parliament (Rules of Procedure) Bill drafted by Mrs. Anna Nilsson. Establishing some set of rules for this body, as we move towards the vital step of the drafting of a constitution or government establishing act, will prove vital."

Robin watched his party leader storm out so he decided to speak as well.

" My fellow colleagues, it would seem that instead of taking steps we have to leaps. Might I suggest that we slow our role and focus on building a foundation. I will be taking the mantle of interim speaker, after speaking with my fellow MP's. This grants me no other power but to guide the chamber until a duly elected speaker has been chosen."

Robin walked up to the Speaker's chair and sat down.

"Order. Nominations for the position of speaker have opened. Nomination period will continue for 24 hours. Members who have been nominated must receive a second as well. Let the nomination period begin."

Lisa Forss, MP and co-chair for The Greens, happy to see an independent MP seek the speakership, joins Norberg's support for Helena De Willoughby Shah's nomination.

"I second this nomination."
Hello, it's Zap! If you read this it's most likely on a P2TM roleplay thread. I'm not a native English speaker (or writer for that matter), so if you notice mistakes I am happy to receive feedback. I know I'm prone to dangling modifiers, capitalization mistakes, use of commas, and other errors. If I were to use a semicolon, there's a 97% chance I just put it there because they look fancy; I have no idea how they work. If it's spelling it just means Grammarly wasn't cooperating. Thanks.
