"Order! Order! The clerks have the tallies.

The Ayes to the right, 14.
The Noes to the left, 12.

The Ayes have it. The Ayes have it. Unlock!

The Human Rights Act shall be properly amended before being presented to the Governor-General.

The floor is now open to questions and statements until notice from the speaker."

"Madame Speaker, point of order on 3 accounts. Members must address the Speaker with their statements. Additionally, the Honorable Member may wish to know that future generations will look back in joy upon the day that murder of children was banned."

"Madame Speaker, could the member stop talking and celebrating that he, a man, is celebrating a bill passing that flies in the face of women's rights and common sense.

All of you should be ashamed of yourselves. I'm aware I'm breaking decorum but I don't care. Shame, shame, shame. Ask me to leave or whatever for the day, I can't stand to be in the same room as these people anyway."

"Common sense? Madame Speaker, is murdering children in the name of womens' rights common sense? The only right we've prohibited is the right to commit murder, a right that needs to be taken away as soon as possible. To say that banning murder is an attack on womens' rights is ridiculous. Ending a life is ending a life, no matter how you want to look at it. A fetus does not belong to its mother. It is not part of its mother. It is a seperate biological entity, and must be treated as such. There is no difference between a child born and a child unborn."

"Madame Speaker, if I may ask the Honorable Member a question. What, exactly, defines a person? What is the difference between a fetus and a person?"

"If your side is so big on the rights of a fetus, which is not a person, why don't they give a fuck about children after they are born? Hypocrites. All of you."
Viktoria, aware of her misconduct, walks out before the Speaker has a chance to say anything.

"Madame Speaker, I honestly don't care if this gets me barred from the chamber. The rep. is a swine, and he's celebrating a massive setback for women's rights that has no place in this nation. This bill, this rep, and anyone who voted for the bill, you are all pathetic." Rep. Apelstierna throws a folder, a pen, and a half-eaten apple at the other member, before walking out of the chamber.

Lance looked down at the papers spilled across his lap from the thrown folder and sighed, shaking his head. He began to pick things up.

He looked up, seeing Apelstierna storm out. He whispered under his breath. "Damnit." He wasn't sure who he was cursing at this point. The left? The parliament? The whole God-forsaken island? Himself?

He stood up, setting the stack of papers on his desk. He would try to organize them later as best as possible and return them. Lance looked up at the Speaker. "Madame Speaker, please don't punish the Honorable Members for their actions today. They're upset, and just need some time to calm down. If anything, this signifies a strong passion in their beliefs, which is a good thing. I don't blame them for their reaction."

Lance sat back down, picking up a half-eaten apple on the floor. It was of no use now. He tossed it into a trash can at the edge of the Chamber.

Lucia tried calling Order before everything began to go downhill but she was beat to the draw. Yelling, screaming, the throwing of things, and the cussing from across the chamber was a sight to witness. It all happened in such rapid succession that Lucia wondered if this was a dream. But it wasn’t.

Abortion had just been shot down significantly. She knew how much that hurt those who voted against it and how much joy it brought to those who voted for it. She would’ve never dreamed that Sankta Hilda would be so hostile towards abortion.

As a little girl, Lucia dreamed that she could make herself known. That she could prove that even women have the power to be powerful, influential, and be able to change the world. Well she was watching her world change and unfold before her eyes. But she had to say something.

“ORDER. ORDER. I am afraid that this is a sad sight to behold. I understand that members opposed to this bill are upset but that is no reason to act in this manner. We are above this kind of pettiness.

This body is dismissed and in recess for the next 6 hours due to the behavior and apparent need for a collective cool off. Dismissed! Sergeant-at-arms please help any out the door if they refuse to leave the chamber.”

Lucia left her chair with a saddened heart and tears in her eyes. She’d be in her office sorting things through.

Madame Speaker, I wish to enquire about a few regulations pertaining to the government. Are members of the government able to author bills and submit them, and if so, are they able to vote on legislation other than bills they have sponsored and/or have authored?

“Yes, the abortion bill was written by the minister of defense. But let’s get out of here since the Speaker called the Sergeant at Arms to escort everyone out.”

Jonathon get's up.

"I can't believe I had to vote Aye to the bill, but with the agreement with the government, I had no choice. In the future, I vow to change that," he says grumbling to himself as he walks out.
