"Order! Members are asked not to interrupt the voting period. The manner in which the Right Honorable Prime Minister cast his vote is of no concern to other Members. The Point of Order is noted, but unnecessary.

"As for the vote, which has concluded, the ayes were fourteen, the nays were two, and the abstentions were one. Therefore, the Parliament has confidence in the Honorable Filip Stenbeck as Speaker. Congratulations, Mister Speaker." Alexander hands Stenbeck the gavel and order paper and sits back down in the Government benches.

Filip rose from his regular seat and chose to give a speech from that position before moving to his new seat in the chamber.

"Thank you.

As the newly elected Speaker I would like to, first and foremost, thank all of my colleagues, regardless of their party allegiance. I know that in the past we haven't seen eye to eye on every issue and I can guarantee that it won't change soon, but I will also make sure that as Speaker I will try my best to let every voice be heard, regardless of my own personal views.

Our democracy is young. Actions we take in following days, weeks, months or even years will shape this country for generations to come. Some precedents, good or bad, have already been set. It is our duty as parliamentarians, representatives of this fledgling nation to set the best example we can. As the newly elected Speaker I will try my best to adhere to and enforce this principle. I expect nothing less from the rest of this house.

I hope that my tenure will prove to be as fruitful and beneficial to this country and its people as it can be. I want help this Parliament fulfill it's duty to all of its people. Once again, I'm humbled and honored to be able to serve as Speaker.

Thank you."

He then walked over to his new seat. Opened his suitcase and laid a couple of documents on the desk before him.

"With my speech over the House will return to it's regular business. The floor is open to debate and motions for a period of 24 hours. If no motion will be successfully made in that time period we shell proceed with bills already in the docket."
