“Madam speaker, I apologize for speaking out of order, but this is a partisan request that would allow his party to seat a Prime Minister. We all understand “no” means “nay” and further, you said to vote “yes” or “no” earlier if I recall correctly.

also since we are voice voting, “ney” would’ve been heard as “nay”

"I agree," Lance said. "The revote is obviously a partisan request that need not be considered."

"ORDER,

The motion is a blatant and ill-informed attempt to dismiss a clear preference expressed by an elected Member. Aside from the fact that it is clear in both the Standing Orders and my comments when moving the vote that the Chair's preferred means of rejecting a preposition is NO, any clear preference will, is and has in the past been accepted. There has been no issue with that in any other vote, and I shall leave it to the House's imagination as to why certain Members wish to take issue now.

Members are reminded of the positive example they are expected the set in our young democracy. They have been elected to a position of immense privilege and should act in a manner accordingly, at all times. Our deliberative democracy may get heated on occasion, especially when stakes are high, but that it no excuse for impugning the dignity that an elected Representative should hold.

This motion is rejected, with prejudice."

"Order, The Honourable Member is reminded that he is not the Speaker, and is not responsible for maintaining order in the Chamber.

Given the Member's philanthropic character, I assume it was just a gallant attempt to spare the Chair some workload. As much as I thank the Member for his generosity and kindness, I assure him that such charity is not required. "

"Order, Order.

The Question is does the House have confidence in Viktoria Ljungstrand:

Those in favour were twenty one;
Those opposed were twenty one;
Two members chose to register their abstention.
The vote is tied.

The vote being tied, The Speaker shall cast a deciding vote under the provisions of Standing Order 15.
In accordance with the principle that the House has failed to support the affirmative, I vote NO.
THE NOES HAVE IT."

Helena paused to let the pandemonium and shouting in the Chamber calm down.

"I would like to register on record my displeasure with how the voting was conducted. During a voting period, Members should indicated whether they support or oppose the preposition before them and say nothing else. They are also reminded that Provisional Standing Order 13, they may not attempt to alter their vote. I have reminded Members of this previously, and indicated that the leniency period on this is over. One NO vote was discounted for this reason, as the Member edited their vote. This did not change the ultimate outcome.

In the future, I will begin to sanction Members who repeatedly speak during the voting period."

In the wake of the vote, Eloise Eliasson installed herself at her station and began to sift through binders. She stopped to listen to the speaker's admonishment of the chamber and then returned to her binders. She lost focus, closed her binders, and picked up the complimentary water bottle sitting only her desk. With a flick of her wrist, she raised the water bottle up and down so as to clandestinely toast. Well, I guess this is for you, Bjorn. She smiled and drank.

Robin was shocked. He didn’t think that they’d “win” the vote. But nevertheless they did and it was time to keep working.

Anni-Frid watches as the speaker collapses. She jiggles. "Oh my God." A few hours into her term — she had only just won a by-election triggered by the death of the just elected Björn Lyngstad (may he rest in peace) — and this had happened.

She looks around. "Uh... nominations for a new speaker, anybody? I'll gladly stand myself."

Karl Bergen took the stand as the self appointed acting speaker. “Since nobody else wants to be acting speaker I’ll take over as speaker until we have a new one. The floor is now open to nominations for speaker. All nominations must have at least one seconder.

Also I’m announcing my own candidacy for speaker”

Eliasson observed the goings-on with confusion. She wanted to say something, but was it within protocol? None the matter, she thought.

Norberg was relieved by the results of the vote but disappointed by Shah. He had her respected enough that he didn't expect her to walk out on a position of responsibility, but nevertheless stands and says, "I second the nomination of Madam Kristensen. I would like to urge the House to conduct this business with the utmost haste so that we may get to the next confidence vote."

Austin sits down, but he knows they need a speaker; and fast. “Due to the lack of a Speaker, I say we must act as quickly as possible and move into a voice vote. Please vote “Aye” or “Nay” on the nomination of Madam Kristensen. “Yes” and “No” will also be permitted. We must then elect a prime minister. The voting period shall last for 8 hours.”

“Mr. ‘Speaker’” Austin adds, saying the word speaker sarcastically, “respectfully, I do not recognize you as the speaker. You cannot merely walk up and declare yourself speaker, especially when the majority of the house has confidence in another candidate. If you’re the Acting speaker on the basis that we lack a speaker, then I’m the Acting Prime Minister on the basis that we do not have a prime minister. The house holds confidence in another candidate who is nonpartisan, and you, violating protocol, have decided to declare yourself the ‘speaker’ without a valid reason. Not one person in this parliament has seconded your motion to become speaker, nor has anyone voted for you. Instead, they hold confidence in another candidate, yet you refuse to step down.”

Furthermore you have seen fit to not only refuse to respect the political process but have attempted a coup. You are hear-by removed from this chamber for the next 24 hours, I’ll make it 48 if you try anything funny.”
