Bio: Yukiko was the daughter of two prominent merchants in Konohagakure, who had immigrated to the village from farmland elsewhere in the Land of Fire after making their fortunes. Yukiko from a young age had a rocky relationship with her mother, who often was cold and distant with her daughter, or outright ignoring her, instead handing her daughter off to a long line of au pairs, nannies and maids and servants. This lead to a sense of resentment in Yukiko for as long as she could remember, and even to this day. Her relationship with her father on the other hand was much closer, often resembling the stereotypical father daughter bond. He was her hero, and she was his princess. However, Yukiko rarely got to see her father, as he was often on the road for business, as his wife ran the business from the office while he was more along the lines of being their best salesmen and face of the company. But, whenever he was home, he spoiled his daughter, and she loved him for it.
But, despite this, Yukiko had a largely lonely childhood. Though the household staff liked her and were always nice, she had no friends her age. She never got along well with the children of families of similar wealth who her mother insisted on being friends with, despite the fact that they were new money without even a generation between their rise to power and now. Yukiko could still remember being farmers in the country, before they had bought out all the other farms and become upper class, and she always felt more akin to the working class kids of the village. However, the working class kids never wanted to be friends with her, as they saw her as an upper class girl trying to slum it with the poor kids, and who would inevitably get them in trouble. So, Yukiko found herself in an odd no man’s land, still to working class to get along with the rich kids, but too blue blooded to hang out with the poor kids.To fill the time, and to stifle her loneliness, she began to read, and fell in love with stories about ninja. To her, they represented adventure, heroism and a certain swashbuckling roguishness. From the first time she read about them, hearing the stories of the brave Uchiha and Senju clans of the Land Of Fire, or the mysterious Yuki’s of the Mist, and the powerful Kage's of the Five Great Nations, she knew what she wanted to be. She wanted to be a ninja, an exciting and swashbuckling hero of her village.
Her mother on the other hand was greatly opposed to this. Determined to solidify her upper class and aristocratic appearance she had worked so hard to form, she discouraged her daughter from becoming a ninja. She viewed shinobi as little more than hired thugs, who were an unhappy necessity in the world around her. Yukiko’s father on the other hand was far more supportive of her dreams, and told Yukiko that if she wanted to become a shinobi, he would always be proud of her. This was however, the first time Yukiko began to see cracks in her parents relationship, and her mother began to drink. Bolstered by her fathers encouragement, and desperate to get out of the house rather than have to spend her time around her distant and increasingly unpleasant mother, she joined the ninja academy to follow her dreams. There, she excelled, and found that her intelligence made her a natural strategist as she could simply out think most problems. Here as well, her often lonely childhood began to lift, as she met her friend Akira. Akira was much more poor than Yukiko, but had a big heart and charming personality. He essentially decided that he and Yukiko were friends, and so it was. Not that she minded. It was nice to have a friend.
As the years in the academy went on, Yukiko continued to excel, and soon was set to graduate at the top of her class along with Akira, who had become her best friend. However, nothing good can last, and as she was getting ready to graduate and become a full fledged ninja she learned her father had been killed on the road by rogue ninja. This event had a profound effect on Yukiko, who began to harbor dreams of revenge that over the years grew to be an obsession. Still, she graduated on time, and was placed onto a team with Akira and another girl named Nami, as well as their sensai Haru. She was successful in the world of full fledged ninja, and her strategic mindset proved to be a valuable asset to her team. Over the course of a year, they logged a number of D Rank and even a few C Rank missions, before Haru Sensai recommended them for the Chunin Exams. During this time Yukiko had begun experimenting with origami paper, learning to use her chakra to manipulate and harden it as weapons. And in reading manuscripts and scrolls, she understood that she could do so much more with it. This skillset, as well as a well developed talent for Fire Release and a solid dose of book learning, helped her make it through the test exams and the Forest of Death. However, come the end, she knew was one of the last standing and knew she would need something else up her sleeve to make it through the final round. In the time leading up to her match, she worked tirelessly to learn or create a new jutsu that would give her an edge, and ended with a technique of her own creation, the Origami Person Technique. This creation was the tipping point, allowing her to pass and earn the rank of chunin.
For the next few years, she continued on as a chunin, commanding a few teams for C Rank missions, and along with her team taking on a few B Rank missions. During this time, she signed a summoning contract with ravens and crows, allowing her to summon them and learned to create Crow Clones with them. These, along with her increasing proficiency with her paper based jutsu, caused her to get the nickname from her peers Paper Raven or Yukiko of the Paper Ravens. And as she learned more about the paper, she also began to use it mixed in with her crows, hiding paper crows in the hoards of them she would summon, turning them into kunai or shuriken to attack her opponents from with in the murders of crows. Often times, she would use paper bombs as well, to launch explosives from the cover of her crows.
Finally, after years of studying and training, she managed to learn more jutsus with her paper, and began petitioning to be given the rank of Jonin. However, few others had recommended her, and though she more than had the capabilities of being a Jonin, many worried she was too preoccupied elsewhere. She was, and always had been, constantly searching for info on her father's killer. Folders and maps indicated every possible sighting she could get her hands on, and many worried she had even gone over the edge in her obsession. Still, they gave her the rank, but rarely gave her command of missions or kept her in the loop of things. At first, Yukiko was angered by this, until it became clear to her why these things were happening. They weren't making her a Jonin to have her lead teams and train Genin, she was being made a Jonin to vet her for the ANBU Black Ops. She was soon accepted, after a year of being a Jonin, and given the code name Kami, as well as placed on a squad. Here, she has both excelled and proven to be difficult. She is very talented, and is a valuable asset to her team, but many feel she is much more preoccupied elsewhere, still always looking for her fathers killer, wherever he is out there.
