Though few on Earth are actually aware, Mankind has crossed the dark void of interstellar - and intergalactic - space. Though it was not with spaceships that this feat was achieved, rather though the use of an ancient alien device known as a Stargate that allows a person to step from one planet to another via a wormhole.

The Stargate Programme was created within the US military and, despite increasing international involvement, the project has remained secret and hidden away from the general public. Two multi-national expeditions have been launched by the Programme; the Atlantis Expedition to the Pegasus Galaxy and the accidental Destiny Expedition marooned on an ancient starship seeking the answers of the universe.

Now a third expedition is being prepared.

A recent discovery has revealed the location of an ancient alien outpost in a galaxy dubbed Orion. Intrigued by the knowledge and technology that could potentially be found, the call went out to world governments for volunteers. Now after months of briefings and training, a new expedition stands ready to explore the mysteries of the Orion Galaxy.

OP's Message

This is my attempt at a Stargate based RP after the OP of the last one went AWOL, though it follows the same premise of a new expedition being sent to explore a galaxy called Orion after gate co-ordinates were discovered which lead to an Ancient outpost there. It'll be mainly exploration based, though there will be some combat and diplomacy as the inhabitants of the Orion Galaxy are met.

You could always come to the SGC Discord and talk with the people there. It should let you get the key information more quickly and in a more compact form than on the Wiki. And some of the values on the Wiki are wrong, though that's a topic for another time.

Aha... I've loved the stargate setting for a long while now, but I'm a bit concerned- what kind of larger ships could we be looking at? I personally am very interested in the star combat of Stargate, though while combat is mainly a side-feature here, I'd still be interested in seeing something like that. What are the possibilities of something like that- becoming a captain of a larger warship later on?

Bio: Anselmo was born in Antofagasta, Chile to a miner and a primary school teacher and is the oldest of four. He had a good childhood and his family is close despite his parent's giving Anselmo more attention at times. Because earlier on, his parents, mainly his mother discovered that he was smarter than most and wanted him to achieve his full potential. Which he did despite his family's almost being poor and things were looking good, till his last year of secondary school. When he and his family got in a horrible car accident and while no one died, His younger brother and sister got the worse of it with severe injuries. The medical expenses were high and the family would not have been able to pay without going into debt and Anselmo decided rather than let that happen. He wanted to use the money that was for his university fund to help pay for the expenses. Which his parents agreed reluctantly and after much conniving by Anselmo. The expenses were paid off and with little options left for him, he chose to enlist after completing secondary school.

Though he joined up as a backup plan and he planned on going to university eventually, he took it seriously and gave it his all. His intelligence, calm demeanor and commitment made him a good solider and have excellent accuracy with assault rifles. After two years his skills caught the eyes of the Special Operations Brigade who offered him a choice of joining them which he accepted since he grew to like life in the military and wanted to give more before he would eventually leave. Two weeks before he was set to left the military, Anselmo received an offer to join Stargate Command and be apart of the Orion expedition. He accepted and was thrilled for the opportunity to go to another world.

  Born in the sleepy town of Ganseong-eup, Yeong-Suk’s childhood was that of adventure and outdoorsy activities, being raised near the more mountainous regions of Korea, where technology hadn’t quite captured everyone’s lives. She was a bit of a ruffian-- defiant and brave much like the many boys whom she joined in their adventures, whom would often climb up and down, have races, host all manners of childish games, learn of the local nature, and master martial arts such as Taekwondo and Hapkido on those forested mountains. Everyone in that little town knew one another, but as the girl slowly grew up, she decided that a life of farming was not something she wished to pursue, and minus subjects like languages and sciences on nature (much of which were already mastered on Earth), she didn’t pursue academic opportunities in Seoul. However, her athletic talent led to her former special operations father to preemptively train her for joining the military, in which she did, enlisting and managing to get picked up by the Special Warfare Command at the ripe age of 20 after constant overperforming, which led military brass to treat her in high regards and also led to quick placement into a frontline commando role. Being assigned to several confidential and highly top secret operations against the still-at-war-but-ceasefire North Korea, she found herself an adept at combat actions, and for her proficiency at her job, high command granted her a steady and rapid series of promotions for extraordinary performance under harsh circumstances, as well as her fellow squadmates. Her most famous feat among the SWC was regarding that of the nuclear testing facilities belonging to none other than North Korea in April of 2018, Yeong-Suk being one of the operators whom silently and non-lethally dispatched some of the guards, leading to her team sabotaging the site in theory ending the nuclear threat. The operation went perfectly and the ruse was made that the facility had simply collapsed after another nuclear test.
  
  For this, she earned her Captain rank, and that was about when a strange genealogical trait was found within her-- a strand unlike any other, this of course being the ATA gene. This same trait had been found by the military earlier on, in which the ROK military had been considering sending a few individuals abroad to the top secret US Stargate Program, though earlier on their efforts had been limited to logistical personnel. Seeing the potential boons though of having combat members being sent abroad and returning with even more experience, they sent one of their best off to the famous Cheyenne Mountain Complex, with the nation’s most advanced equipment hoping that she’d represent them well. She told her family and friends that she’d be gone for an undisclosed time, for perhaps the most incredible mission yet. When questioned, she’d state it’s secrecy made the other classified operations look transparent by comparison. Upon hearing this, her usually pegging father laid off, as he said to her that he was ‘once in her shoes’, and understood well. With that, they saw her off, as this combat officer was sent to the United States.
  
  After her many numerous briefings, everything in the past seemed as if it was entirely worthless, and the road ahead was the only one that she could follow from then on out. She didn’t care that she may never go back home to her family waiting in Ganseong-Eup, an opportunity like this was too much to pass up-- one to travel to a whole new galaxy, and to personally witness firsthand the wonders and glory of the cosmos. She didn’t know the details very well, but the idea certainly captured her heart well, shaking her and changing her whole perspective on the world and its’ futile bickering. Despite all the wonderment though, she could be no more excited to embark on this journey, one that transcends anything done by anyone in human history.
  
  As such, she is exhilarated to be a part of it.

Standing at 5’7”, three inches taller than average, Maisy’s a slimmer individual who belies a good degree of strength. A more stamina-based person, this is only amplified by her symbiote. Tanned skin and well-worn hands, somewhat dirtied at all times, completes the look. Her hair is kept somewhat short in a bun at most all times. Makeup is kept to a minimum if used at all; it’s simply an annoyance in her eyes, considering exactly how stupid ‘looking good’ is while in the field. She lacks the characteristic x-shaped abdomen cut which many hosts have, the symbiote instead having been inserted through the mouth while Maisy was deeply sedated.

Biography:

Born in Clatsop County, OR, Maisy’s family was in the traditional red Republican manners of rural life in the Northwest. Her father was an active hunter when it was in season, a deep sea fisherman on one of the Alaskan coast ships when not, while her mother worked in one of the food banks nearby. As such, she spent much of her life outside, outside and away from most of everything that was near, that was built, enjoyed her life out in the forests. Of course, she didn’t want to spend her whole life out in the Northwest; there just wasn’t that much to see, not that many jobs to be had, and she didn’t want to be like the rest of the people. She didn’t want to be able to say “I’ve lived here my whole life”. It said she hadn’t seen enough, hadn’t done enough, had just been sedentary and rotting away. As a result, Maisy joined the military. She joined the USMC specifically for the very simple fact that she wanted to be deployed, wanted to get dirty and get to actually fight, and because of a deep-seated want to pay her country back. Patriotism for patriotism’s sake is rare enough, considering everything in that fact. It would be something of an interesting thing, as she would go into the life of an officer with a good bit of gusto. History was always something of a glorious thing to her and, with that degree in hand after college, there she would be. Assignment and deployment to Iraq would follow soon after, some of the years where she would meet the best people ever and some of the years that she most definitely would never want to discuss. Needless to say, it wasn’t a joyride by any measure of the imagination.

After some years, she would be sent with Colonel Everett in 2005 to the Atlantis Expedition in preparation for the Battle of Atlantis. She commanded a sector, standing fast against the Wraith and overall defending the city with some greater measure of courage. It was a new experience, an entirely new experience, and it opened up a whole new world to her eyes. The option was given to all of the remaining defenders to join SGC as a whole with the Atlantis Expedition, an option which Now First Lieutenant Owen took gladly. Defending America against terrorism in the Middle East was one thing. Defending the world against alien threats in a different galaxy? That was a completely different thing.

She would accept, joining the expedition with AR-4 as a secondary command officer. The exploration was a heck of a thing, something more glorious and amazing than anything Maisy could ever have dreamed of. It was fun, going world to world, though more often than not the expedition would be something less along the lines of a pleasure trip and moreso a military mission, a mission where every step might be into a Wraith ambush, where their shuttles might buzz overhead or a Hive Ship might be in orbit. That put a damper on a good few of the fun feelings, though she was doing good work dammit. She was defending Earth. She was doing things.

Then everything sort of went wrong. On an expedition, a strange facility was found, something a person on the SGC teams in the Milky Way might know by sight and smell but not an Atlantis member. It was a half-buried Ha'tak, a vessel sent from Goa’uld space by an unknown System Lord, powered by a most advanced drive system they did not fully understand, a system adapted from Ancient designs. On the team’s arrival, First Lieutenant Owen would discover, along with two other AR-4 members, a central chamber before a delayed and dilapidated anti-boarding measure kicked in. The room was sprayed with a gas, a killing agent, and the team was rapidly withdrawn back to Atlantis. As it didn’t impact those about the carriers and their symptoms, akin to a Sarin gas attack, were alarmingly getting worse, it was deduced that the gas was not a virus. The Atlantis medical facilities, however, were incapable of aiding her and her comrades; finding a cure simply wouldn’t come from thin air and the ship’s computer systems were highly encrypted, stopping any sort of effort at finding information on the gas.

An offer, however, was made by the Tok’ra; the symbiote, after all, could grant immense vitality to even the dying and they had no want to let people die. Even if they weren’t wanted afterwards, the symbiote could leave a person safely, albeit painfully, and as such wasn’t a permanent mark. Maisy would take one on, an adult symbiote who had never actually had a host. This host, Kirif, would be exceedingly patient with Maisy due to, as he would put it, “You know this body and life more than me. You go first.” His talks would be remarkably rare, really only providing advice at times, deciphering languages, and things of that nature. Following this, Owen would have an extended medical leave for recuperation and would, after a good deal of time, decide to keep Kirif. He wasn’t really all that bad, as far as some people would go, though at times it would be a little bit unnerving. At least he stopped whispering in the back when she had that one night stand.

Owen would return to her normal duties assigned to SG-9, as yet again a second officer to the team and now a Captain. Following several missions in the Milky Way acting as a liaison to Tok’ra operations in anti-Goa’uld operations, as well as several anti-Prior missions, she is now assigned to the new Orion Expedition.

Bio: Born in 1990, Ivan Lopac was the victim of a failed marriage between his two parents, where his mother succeded in taking custody of him. He was born with ADHD, making his early childhood difficult for his mother. However, through sheer force of will, he managed to control his hyperactive behaviour and channel it into creative pursuits, like drawing comics with outlandish anthropomorphic animals fighting Ivan himself, or rather a different version of him, who built great robots to fight the animals. As he grew up, his interests shifted wildly, going from dragons to dinosaurs to the Alien franchise, and even a bit of Warhammer 40,000. FInally, he settled for science fiction in general, and became infatuated with the idea of alien life. As his knowledge increased, he began inventing new alien civilisations with relatively detailed backstories, some with none at all, and some with interesting trivia added in the description. Eventually, he made it to college, where he picked up physics biology and , where he excelled at due to him being more inclined to abstract concepts.

Everything changed on the 22 of December, 2018, when he witnessed something he never could have imagined. While working late into the night on campus, strange figures clad in cobra-like masks attacked him while he was working on an equation. He fled into the radiation chamber, the latest one bought by his college, where he closed himself while the attackers kept trying to open the doors. Suddenly, gunshots with a fuzzy undertone to them were heard, and the attackers fell. The doors opened to reveal men in military clothing who spoke in English. They revealed themselves to be part of a secret branch of the United States Armed Forces dedicated to protecting Earth from extraterrestrial threats. They called themselves Stargate Command. They were oriinally going to let him go after a quick and harmless mind-wipe, but the team's medic, who also majored in mathematics, realized that Ivan wasa a genius who could benefit the Stargate Program. Ivan, interested in the possibility of making contact with actual extraterrestrials, accepted the invitation. Making all the neccessary excuses, arrangements and preparations, he moved to a house across the road from Broadmoor Glen Park, Colorado Springs, USA. He is heading straight into a new part of his life that he has no idea about, which to Ivan is equal parts exciting and terrifying. Time to see what this Pythagoras galaxy has to offer.
