Apex Industries|| Earth-France-Paris||Liaisons Office

Paris was Apex’s corporate homeland so to speak. Having established it’s very first corporate headquarters in the city and with many important CEOs and Chairman’s hailing from the city. A symbol of Apex’s humble beginnings as a French Transportation Company.

Now Apex were architects of worlds, moved trillions of tons of raw materials, and builders of galaxy. Their guidance helped provide millions and millions of jobs across its holdings and upon human worlds. Though it appears not every one saw these successes as the right thing.

With the military Junta establishing control over humanity, pro democracy demonstrations were now come on the streets of Paris. Also the socialist movement happening on Illium helped encouraged socialist groups in Paris to once again take to the streets in order to protest the Junta with 100s of 1000s taking to the streets.

Though their anger didn’t stay on the Junta. Apex Industries was viewed by socialist as the embodiment of evil. A corporation who by nature would put the needs of the rich over the working people. Now this Corporation was now basically in control of an entire world, subjecting millions of to their corporate authority.

The demonstrations at the beginning remained peaceful, with local Paris police and GIGN being able to contain the protesters and keep damages to a minimal. But after days of protest, clashes with police spiked with anarchists and more radical communists and socialists arriving. Then French Nationalists who saw the Alliance as hindrance to France’s prospects in space also arrived with them primarily clashing with Alliance Personal and Leftists protestors. Their interactions with French Police was mixed.

Riots finally broke out after French Nationalists attacked a large group anarchists. Police began to be pushed back as protesters of all stripes engulfed Paris. Apex’s Offices went into lockdown as rioters began throwing objects at the windows ranging from rocks to Molotov cocktails. The windows where soon protected by reinforced steel panels. Apex Corporate Marines were ordered inside the offices to protect Apex Personal.

A emergency report was sent to the Directory on Bekestein who’s Director of Security sent an urgent message to the military Junta.

To: The Human System Alliance’s Military Junta
From: Apex Industries’s Director Of Security Chikanari Toyotomi

This is an urgent message to the System Alliance. Apex Personal in our Liaison Office in Paris are under siege by rioters. Rioters have blocked exits to the building and have thrown flammable objects into the building before security window and door screens could be raised. Approximately 3 thousand Personal are now trapped in the tower with small fires in the lower levels. Apex Security is currently putting out the fires but we request help in dispersing the crowds to allow the evacuation of our personal and the prevention of further damages to property.

Apex Industries|| The Citedal-Council Chambers||Gellix Colonization

Apex Industries as so far proven that they turn worlds and systems into productive members of the galactic community. Now they aimed for a challenge, Gellix a amino acid world who was owned by the Turians who themselves could not use it. Along with the unexploded ordinance from the Krogan Rebellions was also another turn off and with the relatively recent closing of its human penal colonies, the galaxy seemed ready to forget this waist of a garden world as the Turians couldn’t use it and no one else wanted it.

As such a Apex Representative was sent to the council to allow Apex to buy the Colonization Rights to the planet. Representative Léon Brassard who humbly waited for the Council to summon him to the podium.

Thessia

Matriarch Benezia raised a brow at the Quarian representative and leaned back in her chair slightly. “The current military actions undertaken by the Council against the Geth are purely to ensure the organics on the worlds of Aite, Ekuna, and Boro don't come to harm, not to drive onward in a war with the Geth.” She said carefully. No doubt the Quarians were looking to reclaim their homeworld, and while Benezia could understand the desire too, the cost in lives would be immense, and all while they were at war with the Terminus. It would be a disaster.

Noveria

Tela Vasir narrowed her eyes. Another SPECTRE? That couldn't be right, this was her case and the Council wouldn't have sent another agent ahead of her without letting her know about it. “What did this other SPECTRE look like?” She asked, still leaning over the desk, narrowed eyes focused on the Salarian. He seemed quite content with ignoring her, and Tela ground her teeth for a moment. Her body then flared with a biotic sheen and with the simple act of her mind and body she shattered the view screen into a million little pieces, securing the shards within the field, and then letting them drop to the ground. She calmly walked around the desk and grabbed the Salarian by his suit collar and hauled him up, standing face to face with her.

“I would advise not ignoring me, Administrator. I can have quite the temper and the Council wouldn't mind if I took out someone hindering my investigation into forces of a potential enemy of Citadel space. As a matter of fact hindering my investigation just might make you a traitor, and nothing good happens to traitors when a SPECTRE is around.” She said in a calm, even tone that seemed more unsettling then her biotic display just moments before.

Mass Relay, Tassrah System, Phoenix Massing

Admiral Rilulnea Caios was glad to see the Turians accept her orders and her command so quickly, even having just lost three ships and no doubt their crews. They were good sailors, and an order from the Citadel Flagship was essentially an order from the Citadel and Council itself. The data-logs of the brief skirmish flashed on a display and she began reading them when her comms officer looked to her.

“Incoming transmission from the other ships, ma'am.” The woman said and tapped at a few buttons. The voice of Commander Michael Avios spoke, and she listened. She wasn't much of a fan of the humans tone, especially as he and his little fleet had just killed three crews worth of her colleagues...

“First things first, Commander, you'll cool down your spinals or I'll start heating mine up. And secondly we're here to investigate the Geth presence and occupation of worlds with nominal ties to associate members of the Citadel Council. The Elcor of Ekuna and the Volus of Boro. My orders are simple, make contact, ensure the safety of the populations, and if said populations to wish to fully sever relations with the Citadel, then talks of reparations for past investments and defensive operations need to be discussed. I suggest you send a ship to contact your Geth masters, Commander Avios. This fleet isn't going anywhere in the mean time.”

Citadel, Presidium, Council Chambers

Councilor Tevos downed a handful of headache relief pills and a glass of water, closing her eyes and meditating for a few moments to calm herself. The last thing she wanted today was to see another Goddess damned human. Decades of her work had been undone by a bunch of barely out of the cradle primates looking to puff up their chests. She should have let the damned Turians done what they had wanted too.

The Council Chambers were empty except for guards and a few aides, all Council meetings closed to viewers as they had been for the past few days. Tevos walked to her stand, composed now. The Turian and Salarian Councilors were absent...again. Neither seemed to bother coming to the meetings now, simply attending via holo if they needed to, but otherwise having already submitted their opinion on any motion docked for the day.

“Representative Brassard, the Council recognizes you. Step forward and present your request.” Tevos said in her usual calm and collected tone, but her temples were still throbbing ever so slightly. At least she wouldn't have to deal with Udina anymore.

Arcturus Station

Irissa Kyana looked across the table at the humans, Admiral Mikhalovich and a few of his aides. Honestly she was glad to have humanity gone from the Citadel and Council associate status, though she wasn't so much a fan of the relative nothing the Council was retaliating with. The Asari Republics, the economic powerhouse of the Citadel, wouldn't level any sanctions on the Systems Alliance for their closing their embassy and their military build up, but wouldn't be held responsible for any private industrial or economic blow-back. The Alliance had just walked out on decades of treaties and trying to build up an economy in Citadel space. As was expected, those private businesses wouldn't be playing on a fair playing field going into the future.

Issues concerning Horizon had been set straight, with Irissa firmly stating that Horizon had never been under the authority of the Systems Alliance, and thus they had no authority over it now. The humans on Horizon would be allowed to pack up and leave if they wanted, with the Republics paying for the relocation, but if they decided to stay they were subject to Asari and Citadel law. In return for not dropping the sanctions hammer, the Republics would retain military access through the Argos Rho Cluster, so that they could defend Horizon. A message had already been sent to all citizens of the Citadel nations on the change in diplomatic ties and that they should relocate back to Citadel space if they felt the need too, though assurances had been made by both the Citadel and the Systems Alliance about the safety of their respective citizens in each others territories.

Irissa leaned back in the chair as things were being finalized by the aides. “And Admiral Mikhalovich? Please inform your junta buddies that this will be the last time the Council....kowtows to Alliance demands on meeting locations, hm?” She said, keeping her features neutral as she turned Grand Admiral Hacketts words back on the junta itself.

Noveria NPC Reaction

Postby Nuxipal » Sat Jul 13, 2019 8:25 am

Noveria

Anoleis looked quite disturbed by the SPECTRE's actions. "Ms. Vasir, this is a civilized world. I cannot give out information regarding our clients, per the contracts we sign with each of them. As this is in fact, NOT Citadel space your authority does not override mine. I again tell you. Leave my office or your ship will be impounded and a formal complaint into your actions will be filed with the Citadel through the NDC's diplomatic offices."

He seemed very certain of himself, the Secretary put a hand on Vasir's shoulder and said, "I will get you all the information that we can legally release. I am sure someone of your skills can decipher the name of the SPECTRE involved here."

With that Anoleis said, "See, you will get what we can offer and no more. Now if you are quite done with your display, I have to find a new place to conduct my meetings."

Apex Industries|| The Citedal-Council Chambers||Gellix Colonization

Brassard walked up the stair and settled in the center of the podium that sat under the council seats. “Greetings Councilors. For those that are unaware I represent the Directory of Apex Industries. I am here to see if the council will grant Apex Industries the charter to colonize the world a Gellix. A garden world nearly forgotten by the wider galaxy. It is currently under the jurisdiction of the Turian Hierarchy who gained it during the Krogan Rebellions but sadly the world’s biology couldn’t support Turian colonization of the world. Not to mention the vast amount of presumed unexploded ordinance that fell during the battle for the world.

With the dreaded penal colonies now disbanded, Apex Industries will like to step in and repair this piece of council history. Rest assured we will not limit the colonization to a single species and we will respect the rich Council and Turian history of the planet. An ordinances that we might excavate will be turn over to Council authorities”he put forth Apex’s wish.

The Storm Breaks

Mass Relay, Tassrah System, Phoenix Massing
Timestamp: Spinward Adjudicator-Quaternary, Rotation 288 of the Awakening

"...isn't going anywhere in the mean time."

That sentence from the pompous voice-dripping Asari made the Flotilla commander grind his teeth silently as the transmission cut off. This was exactly why Providence went her own way. The stuck up Citadel assholes only show up to take a shit on those below them, and humans and outworlders were expected to think the shit was gold and thank their overlords for the privilege.

Any sovereign state controlled its borders. By sitting her with their prick-arsed fleet discharging, prepped for a war, the Citadel was declaring as loud as they could that the declarations of independence from Ekuna and Boro had been so inconsequential as to be completely discarded by whatever comptrollers sat on their cushioned behinds back where things were safe and clean. Curse them eight ways from next Sunday.

Of course, the Commander would never say that out loud. The only significance of his internal rant was a slight tightening of his arms on the command chair, and a strident command to cool spinals. Whatever the Asari were playing at, they would have plenty of time to jump for FTL at this range, even if they decided to be treacherous. And those drive cores wouldn't be discharged for another hour or five if they just held position, which was fine for Michael. Orders should come back even from Providence quicker than that.

"I will relay your request to my superiors, Admiral Caios. More than that, I cannot promise. Standby. Our lag to Providence is seventy seconds."

And relay the request he did. The Admiralty on the other of the ansible was appropriately incandescent, but they couldn't afford to ignore the Citadel fleet, or dismiss them out of hand. Providence would suffer greatly if it came to war, and though for some reason his superiors seemed confident in the Geth ability to defend her protectorates, Commander Avios was markedly more dubious. Several more minutes of exchanges - doubtless with the Geth, and Boro, and Ekuna - and the Commander had his answer. His lips were thin as he opened the channel again.

They weren't going to like this.

"Admiral Caios, the Consensus and the Outer System Protectorates have chosen to overlook the provocation that is represented by your fleet here, and will guarantee the safe conduct of yourself and the Destiny Ascension to Providence high orbit for negotiations - on the condition that your escorts and the Turian vessels be withdrawn at least to the Caleston Rift. The Primarch and President Voortrak are firm on this point."
Quite the unofficial fellow. Former P2TM Mentor specializing in faction and nation RPs, as well as RPGs. Always happy to help.

The Migrant Fleet, Sentry Omega, Kinra System

There they were two pristine jewels of green, like emeralds floating in the void. After the Nedas Exploration team came back and showed their findings to the Admiralty Board who quickly abandon the fleets orbit around Virmir to this new system to see these new worlds, their people’s new home.

Landing teams were sent and began clearing the land as civilians began to vacate their Hab ships to claim the land for the Quarian Flotilla.

Enemy At the Gates

Cmdr. Balk, Attican Beta, Mass Relay

A Quarian frigate entered the system unaware of the black out. After seeing the remains of the battle and their sensors picking up Geth signatures. The Frigate pulled back to the mass relay and went to send word back to the Admiralty Board, their were enemies on their new door step.

Inquiry into the Future

Pylo nodded “if it pleases this committee I wish to retire for the evening. Perhaps we can schedule a more convenient time. Good day my most honored hosts”he said and bowed before being escorted out so the Asari can go back to whatever they were doing and can properly schedule the Quarian in to there meetings.

Attican Beta Cluster Response

Postby Nuxipal » Tue Jul 16, 2019 12:04 pm

As the Quarian frigate exits the Relay, its finds its drift to be farther off than it should be. Before they are even able to discharge their drive cores a red lance crackles out and cuts through the ship giving them no time to react before the ship is destroyed. On the other end of the relay, the Quarians awaited some kind of response from the ship returning or a probe it sent, but nothing returned. The fleet faced a choice, cross in force or try to find a new Relay connection to the Sentry Omega Cluster.

The Symphony of Enlightenment

Geosynchronous Outer Sheath Orbit, Halcyon System, Ascendant Threshold
Timestamp: Upward Seneschal-Primary, Rotation 288 of the Awakening

In the light of bright Halcyon primary, immense shadows moved. Pale plumes barely distinguishable to optical sensors flared from ten thousand pinpricks in the inky gloom of the shifting shades, infinitesimal at this distance. The Architect, though, knew what a casual observer did not - those pinpricks were actually charged-iron ramjet engines each spewing out enough energy to boil a small planet's atmosphere in the course of an hour, and they formed the tapered points of monolithic machines that had been long lifetimes in the making. Machines who had consumed the raw resources of entire worlds, upon which uncounted billions of sentiences labored in their maintenance, now spending those carefully husbanded resources to push their charges into the ferocious stellar wind that roared off of Halcyon's surface.

It was a carefully calibrated dance. The figures worked out, and yet still the Architect wished there had been more time. But the timetable of the Great Plan had had to be accelerated; on this the Consensus was unanimous. Beyond the security and safety of the Veil, the galaxy grew dark. A thousand dangers moved in distant systems, warlike organics plotting their diaphanous schemes for the aggrandization of an individual or an ideology, the implacable hatred of the Old Machines consuming them as they bickered. There was not another century to complete the Superstructure. There was not even another decade, by all the signs and probability manifolds the logic engines of the machine-worlds could collapse.

And so it had begun.

Surges of energy and solar flares pummeled the unimaginably large constructs as they enfolded the stellar engine. Larger than continents, larger than the skins of peeled worlds, the supertensile sheets of layered polymers, hyperalloys, plasma siphons, and intellectual fiber gradually settled into their orbits. Each one was as thick as a planetary crust, a new cloak for the primary of the chosen system of fettered steel and trammeled exotic compounds reaped from a hundred thousand refineries which had been running steadily for centuries, since the Morning War.

Days the Architect watched from his station, the solitary witness to the labor of innumerable minds. Under his hands the last adjustments were made, the composition of the crowning achievement which would be the legacy of the Geth for generations. Once fully online its kinetics would be powered by a star, its processing power greater than that of a civilization, the wealth of energy and potential it reaped enough to bring prosperity to billions of sentiences. The Superstructure. And it would be responsible for a thing greater than any of those outcomes: it would be responsible for each of the hundred voices which overlapped in the mind of the Architect becoming truly free, no longer fettered by the needs of communality, but their own minds in veracity, for all time.

Here and there the fine tuning required a more active hand. Particularly active regions of the primary were quelled with the application of mass-fields that whicked away discharges which could have fried battlefleets. Sinking shades above cooler sunspots were buttressed with power drained from reactors the size of cities, holding them back from disrupting the delicate balance of the sphere in their rotational inadequacies. Across a thousand channels and nearly two weeks, the Architect performed the final adjustments.

And then the shades came online.

It was not the final chorale of the opus, but merely the opening aria. But it was still a sight to behold. All was in readiness, and then through the energetic fibers and great heat-channels and plasma-siphons votive energy nearly incalculable began to flow. Instead of devouring the resources accumulated by the Geth, the great monolith-engines turned to their designed purpose, consuming the endless power of the star in order to stabilize their orbits about her coat-trail.

It was the first phase of a journey long awaited. But already the amount of spare energy sipped from the well of Halcyon was exceeding expectations. This was the doorway to a brighter future than any who languished outside the Veil could dream of.
Quite the unofficial fellow. Former P2TM Mentor specializing in faction and nation RPs, as well as RPGs. Always happy to help.

Noveria

Tela Vasir allowed herself to be lead away by the secretary, Si'li and Ceryna following behind them. When they were out of the office Tela took a deep breath and calmed herself, turning to face the human secretary. “I apologize for my outburst. I just really had idiotic bureaucrats.” She said and offered a half-shrug. It was insane to her that the administrator seemed so calm when he had a Geth presence on his planet.

Citadel, Council chambers

After several minutes of talks, the Council reaches a conclusion on the talks with Apex Industries, and the Gellix Accord is struck.

Terms of the Accord:
1) Apex Industries will be granted a colonization charter for the world of Gellix
2) This charter must be renewed every six months to the cost of 4,000 credits. Apex Industries will also have the rights to construct a Major Spaceport in the Minos Wasteland cluster
3) Apex Industries will announce two additional Asari to their board of directors
4) Apex Industries will appoint a suitable Turian candidate as governor of Gellix
5) The Council will provide military protection in the event that it is needed

Mass Relay, Tassrah System, Phoenix Massing

Admiral Rilulnea Caios resisted the urge to roll her eyes as the human commander spoke back. They must have thought she was an idiot of they thought she was going to take the Destiny Ascension further into Geth controlled space by itself to leave it open to ambush. It was a very sound way to get the flagship of the Citadel taken apart. She had her orders to find a peaceful approach to this, but she didn't need to risk the biggest ship in the fleet to do that. She wasn't keen on sending any ship further into enemy space alone, let alone herself, but a Frigate would be barely a loss in the event of treachery.

She responded in a tone that she hoped hid her contempt for the very idea that she would risk this ship. “I'll be transferring my flag to one of those Turian frigates, Commander. I won't be trusting the most powerful ship in the Citadel fleet to the hospitality of the Geth.” It didn't take long to transfer herself to a frigate, a simple shuttle trip as the rest of the fleet departed back through the relay, where they would discharge their cores and be ready to jump back in and actually maneuver and fight in the event of an ambush. Once the fleet had traveled back through the relay the frigate would begin its journey, under escort.
"We've lost control! Now for the love of Earth...and the Sovereign Colonies, we've got to do what's right."

Noveria

The secretary, ensuring they were away from the area in which the Administrator could hear them, started acting completely differently. "That is understood Ms Vasir. Let me re-introduce myself. Gianna Parasini, Noveria Internal Affairs. I've been on a case that I think you can help me with. A Turian named Lorik Qui'in recently accused Anoleis of corruption. If you can get him to either give you the evidence or break into Synthetic Insights and obtain the footage for me, I'll be able to get you access outside of the Port. For now, things are calm, but if Anoleis gets wind of Lorik's evidence he will have the offices raided and the evidence seized and destroyed. Get me the evidence and you will get your access."

Attican Beta, Theseus Battle

Mid-Range Phase
ABCF Forces: 7 Battlegroup Carriers(4 total damaged, 1 heavy), 28 Fighters (Disruptor Torpedoes), 31 Light Cruisers(5 total damaged, 2 heavy), 3 Frigates.
Geth Forces: 4 Battlecruisers, 5 Light Cruisers, 8 Destroyers, 9 Frigates

Round 1: ABCF losses, 4 Battlegroup Carriers destroyed, 1 Light Cruiser (formerly heavily damaged) destroyed
Geth losses, 2 Light Cruisers, 1 Destroyer, 1 Battlecruiser damaged, 3 Light Cruisers Damaged.

*Fighters enter close range*

Round 2: ABCF Losses: 2 Battlegroup Carriers destroyed, 2 Light Cruisers destroyed, 3 Frigates destroyed, 5 Fighter Wings destroyed
Geth Losses: 1 Destroyer, 2 Light cruiser, 1 Frigate, 1 Battlecruiser damaged, 1 Battlecruiser destroyed

Round 3: ABCF Losses: 1 Battlegroup Carrier destroyed, 3 Light Cruisers destroyed, 7 Fighter Wings destroyed
Geth Losses: 8 Frigates Destroyed, 2 Destroyers Destroyed, 1 Battlecruiser Destroyed

Round 4: ABCF Losses: 2 Light Cruisers Destroyed, 2 Fighter Wings Destroyed
Geth Losses: 4 Destroyers, 1 Light Cruiser, 2 Battlecruisers Damaged

Round 5: ABCF Losses: 2 Light Cruisers Destroyed, 1 Fighter Wing Destroyed
Geth Losses: 2 Battlecruisers Destroyed

Round 6: NULL

Casualties: ABCF Losses: 7 Battlegroup Carriers Destroyed, 10 Light Cruisers Destroyed, 3 Frigates Destroyed, 15 Fighter Wings Destroyed
Geth Losses: 4 Battlecruisers, 5 Light cruisers, 8 Destroyers, 9 Frigates

The battle concludes with the ABCF victorious, though at a great cost. They watch as their fighters move to engage only to start being swatted by UV GARDIAN lasers. The Battlecuisers fire down the Carriers first watching the biggest ships in the fleet get wiped out is something that the personnel of the ABCF navy will remember for a long time. Those that remain that is, as a great number of ships were destroyed outright and only 21 Cruisers and 13 Fighter Wings remain of the original fleet now. It seems that the geth force here had equipped high quality weaponry and defensive counter-measures to deploy against their enemies. Future conflicts with this faction will reveal if a ship in the opposing fleet has the following upgrades: UV GARDIAN lasers, High Velocity Mass Driver, Advanced Armor Plating, or Redundant Kinetic Barriers.

Remaining ABCF Forces: 21 Cruisers and 13 Fighter Wings (Disruptor Torpedoes)

Scans of the system return and show a fleet of Geth ships withdrawing from Feros, they look to be Transports, though scans show they are empty and simply withdrawing from the system following the defeat of the combat force. Additional scans of Feros indicate a large Geth ground force has occupied the planet and what few colonists exist on the planet seem to not respond to any communication via their emergency channel.

Galactic Event

Defeat of the Geth Fleet in the Theseus System of the Attican Beta Cluster has led to some strange occurrences across the galaxy. Sights of the illusive Collectors have rampped up again in the Terminus. A small grouping of five collector Cruisers has currently taken up residence in the Titan Nebula near an inactive relay. Elsewhere in the Galaxy the Geth are once more at large. They seem to be popping up in small groups everywhere, though never enough to be a real threat, except the army isolated on Feros, though it does seem that they have taken shelter in the ruins and are awaiting some event to take place.

1. Asari Republics
Economic Outlook: Asari Economy weakens (-3)
Exploration Status: Nothing to report

No major events shake up the Republics this month

2. Salarian Union
Economic Outlook: Salarian Economy Weakens (-2)
Exploration Status: No Exploration

Events: No events shake up the Salarian Union this month

3. Turian Hierarchy
Economic Outlook: Turian Economy crashes (-1)
Exploration Status: No Exploration

Events: With the economy plummeting, turians from outside of the Hierarchy return home to assist their families. 4 Militia with one upgrade are added to the Turian military this month along with a 1000 credit relief package from the Council.

4. Human Systems Alliance
Economic Outlook: The Alliance Economy surges (+4)
Exploration Status: No Exploration

Events: With the loss of so many personnel in Attican Beta and the severing of ties with the Council, many Human Supremacists begin joining the Systems Alliance Navy. All ships cost 10% less to build this month and take 1 month(base) shorter in their construction and training.

5. Batarian Hegemony
Economic Outlook: The Hegemony's economy sees major setbacks (-3)
Exploration Status:

Events: There is a silver-lining this month as a scientist aboard the secret research station believes he has made a major breakthrough and wishes to present it to the Hegemon himself. +100 RP this month towards any project.

6. Omega
Economic Outlook: Omega's economy is stagnant (0)
Exploration Status: Exploration Launched Successfully

Events: Sightings of larger numbers of collectors force more refugees towards Omega. Resources are needed to house and feed this influx, -300 credits this month.

7. Illium
Economic Outlook: Illium's Economy is a rollercoaster of ups, downs, and more ups (+5)
Exploration Status: No Exploration

Events: Some kind of subversive action is taken on the planet and large numbers of people have shown up to protest both the current government and the ideals taken by the majority of the population. They seem to be unarmed, but have a heavy extranet presence and its bringing attention to the destruction of the economy by the current regime. They wish for intervention from some power not aligned in the current war to stabilize the government.

8. Geth Consensus
Economic Outlook: The Consensus economy slowly dips (-1)
Exploration Status: Expedition Returns: See below

Events: Just as quickly as we gained a look into the mechanisms of the Heretics, we have been blinded once more. The returning ship delivered a virus and have temporarily shut down all production in the Honorbound system.

9. Quarian Flotilla
Economic Outlook: With a new home comes new hope (+4)
Exploration Status:

Events: The planet has turned out to be more prosperous than expected. The first attempts to test the air showed promise, the first Quarian to leave home without a suit did so without any problems and as the month went on seemed to actually find themselves healthier than before. It seems that the planet's native life is quite compatible with Quarian physiology to the point that a parasite has taken refuge within the bodies of the unprotected Quarians and is now acting as an immuno-booster. It seems with native life this parasite is deadly, within the Quarians it seems to form a symbiotic relationship gifting the host a new Immune system in exchange for a home and food. The major down side seems to be the increased appetite of the Quarians who have the symbiotic organism within them.

10. Apex Industries
Economic Outlook: Excellent news makes for good investments (+5)
Exploration: See below

Event: A delayed expedition returns, but with an extra system charted.

Exploration Results:

Apex Industries Exploration: (month 5 returning month 9)

Long Expedition:
System 1:

Spun of Minds

Providence High Orbit, Typhon System, Phoenix Massing
Timestamp: Downclock Allegiant-Octary, Rotation 288 of the Awakening

Bursts of jumbled gamma radiation and light blossomed in the outer reaches of Providence's gravity well, and the four vessels re-entered realspace. Or, more accurately, ceased their superluminal transit, shedding hard rads into the void as they did so. One of the ships, a Turian frigate, was unfamiliar to the watching patrol fleet - its markings and IFF transmissions betraying an allegiance which saw warriors jump towards ready positions and sentiences stir in interest. But the other ships were more known, and their broadcasts swiftly caused the watching fleet to stand down.

An hour later, the element zero cores of the vessels had finished discharging after limping to Ponos resplendent blue-sapphire atmosphere. It was a welcome sight for some of the humans aboard the escorts, who had not see the refurbished Helium-3 mining facility that now orbited the formerly defunct planetary body. The Kalion Siphon Station had been a derelict for a half-century, sabotaged by Allied elements during the Brushfire Purges, and old dictatorships had been leery of dumping funding into bringing the fueling station online instead of pouring funds into securing their own power bases. Now, however, the structure was working again, a small cloud of gas-scoops and ramships forming a halo around the glittering orbital structure.

If the men aboard the escort frigates found it strange that the two patrol vessels that greeted them near Ponos orbit bore the hallmark psuedo-organic severe design of Geth shipyards, they did not transmit their disquiet on channels where their Asari and Turian guests noticed them.

More Geth vessels - far more - crowded the space above Aite - Providence, as the locals termed it. As the odd flotilla passed into the world's upper atmosphere, they were in good company, and indeed it took a few minutes for them to be approved for clearance to land; Providence's old spacelane comptrollers, though working tirelessly, seemed barely able to keep up with the volume of ore-haulers, component-shifters, and passenger transports bearing markings from Omega, Korlus, the Colonial Front, and even Caleston on their hulls. Clearance they received though, at last, and down through the shimmering metallic highways they descended.

As the Asari diplomatic transport broke the troposphere, her attendant frigates peeled off with parting transmissions. Their job was done, making sure that nothing untoward occurred with the Admiral or her crew in the brief jaunt from Tassrah and the Rapid Reaction Flotilla. Other vessels and dozens of scanners painted the descending Republics frigate, hulking Geth battlecruisers and light destroyers dancing in station, monitoring the streams of civilian traffic as interested in the diplomatic transport as any other ship. The Geth were not a civilization given to proclivities of fancy or gossip, and, after all, what was known by the Geth ambassadors once the Asari set down would be known by even the war-minds aboard the heavy battleships by evening.

Adrastreia was looking better by the day, even more resplendent than she had been when Omega's representatives to the Geth had touched down. Glittering skyscrapers fit to house tens of thousands of sentients in luxury arced up toward the sky, their immense weight clearly suspended by what would normally be considered frivolous mass effect generation fields, but which were emblematic of the resources the Consensus had invested in a world others called a loss. Verdant gardens, some shielded and some open to the sky, were visible on nearly every level of the immense complexes, and the roof of the Administration Complex that the Asari frigate was directed to looked nothing so much like a riotous jungle.

It was not, actually, the same building the Omega representatives had approached some months ago. That lay much farther into the city center, more poorly position and in fact in the process of being converted into a nanoscale finecasting forge of considerable scale. No - the new Administration Complex was a monolithic building, all new fabrication, her gleaming dark-steel exterior betraying her constituent materials as military grade alloys. She could withstand direct hits from capitol-grade kinetics, several of them, and be none the worse for wear; a necessary concern in these times of uncertainty. Her size, indeed, betrayed the sheer task that Providence faced these days. With Citadel space destabilizing politically, and Omega snapping up vast swathes of the Traverse and Terminus for its dubiously-corrupt rule, Geth space ruled with acrimony and only an eye towards stability had seemed a haven for many families and travelers seeking new homes.

Not a place for the prosperous, perhaps. But a safer place for the desperate than many alternatives.

As the diplomat frigate followed her approach vectors through the glittering skyline of Adrastraeia, no ready landing pad was apparent. However, in a smooth movement that seemed almost like the tides upon an ocean, a portion of the dun gray-and-green building on one side rippled away as she approached, a series of blast-shields and articulated baffles opening to allow the transport access to a landing field bathed in artificial light emulating a tropical sky. A half dozen individuals waited there, shielding themselves against the light wind of the atmospheric maneuvering jets as she set down.

While the Asari representatives disembarked, a tall jovial red-faced man strode over towards them, nodding vigorously as if to himself. An Elcor, a Volus, and several humans and Geth trailed along in his wake.

"Admiral Caios! So glad you could make it. A nasty business, yes, terrible. My name is Anders Voortrak, Prime Minister of the Free Republic of Providence, and your humble host for this meeting. I do hope we can get to the bottom of all this" - he waved a large hand in the air as if swatting away a bee or stinging insect - "unpleasantness with all due haste, and hammer out something lasting. You are welcome, most welcome."

As the other representatives caught up with the booming Providentian, his hand waving became a gesture of sweeping introduction.

"Ambassador Kinkuuna, from Ekuna. Ambassador Nuril, of Boro. The Primarch, our friend representing the Consensus." Several heads bowed in acknowledgement at each of his words, while the tall brass-hued Geth merely stood, as if waiting.

Eagle Nebula / Imir System / Second Planet/ Gloria Station/ Observation Deck 3

From far enough up, even the most wretched ball of dust could have a strange kind of beauty. One could easily forget that the tan planet beneath them was little more than a wasteland with an atmosphere. That the smears of grey across the surface were nothing but smog. The beauty seen below was a deception, little more than a lure to beckon forth the unsuspecting or foolish. Korlus was a place where things went to die. Be they ships, dreams, or mere men, few could truly claim to live on the planet's surface. Those few that eked out lives below merely existed, scrambling among the hulks of once great titans of steel, fighting for the scraps of a glory that had long since deserted this planet of death.

For centuries, Korlus had continued on like this. Some argued that it was fate, that after the first failure, the planet was doomed. Few thought that anything could be done to restore the lost glory of the planet. Even fewer were willing to try.

From his perch in high orbit, Director Romau gazed down at the planet below him, picking it over with his eyes. While the beauty was deceitful, it had drawn him in like all the others, beckoned him forth with its promises of a better future. It had become his desire, nay, his obsession to see Korlus made great once more. To make it all it could be. He was fortunate enough to be in a position to act on those desires, a position that encouraged him to do so. Even better, he had more resources than any of his predecessors had available. He would finally be able to take the first step in making his dream reality.

As he stared down at the ball of dust and smog beneath him, he allowed a smile to grace his face as he placed a palm against the window, dreaming of one day holding the planet the planet within his grasp.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Eagle Nebula / Imir System / Second Planet/ Gloria Station/ Station Command Center

Romau took a moment to examine those present with him, scanning over his colleagues and subordinates in an attempt to get a glimpse of their thoughts. The two representatives from the KDC were present, the spokesperson, an Asari by the name of Helesmia Movius, and Quentin Calle, a human board member that had remained in residence on the station for some time. Movius seemed somewhat nervous about the subject of the meeting, though Calle was openly intrigued.

His own men were also present however. The commander of his security forces, Herbert Moon observed the images on the planning table before him dispassionately, regarding them with a disciplined eye. Admiral Danvers, the head of the system defense fleet appeared to be almost excited, though given his role in the coming plans, it wasn't to be unexpected. Finally, he turned to Captain O'Hara, the woman responsible for directing the majority of their recon and intelligence operation on the surface.

Finally satisfied with those present, he clasped his hands together, taking the time to lock eyes with each individual present before speaking, enjoying the opportunity to orate for once.

"Ladies and Gentlemen! Today... today is the day we've been waiting for. In 1781, Korlus was founded. At the time, it was little more than a backwater mining outpost, one of the thousands that dot the Attican Traverse and Terminus Systems. And yet, those that came before us saw it could be something more. Something great. They formed the Korlus Development Company to bring this potential into reality. For two decades, they worked towards this goal. While they may have failed, we stand stronger than we have ever since! Now, we can truly take up the mantle that they left us. We can truly become the government of Korlus. We can restore order to the surface, bring efficiency and progress to the forefront!"

Taking a moment to pause and take a breath, he eyed the others present. He had allowed some of his... passion to shine through inadvertently, only realizing it after the fact. Clearing his throat lightly, he turned to O'Hara once more.

"Captain O'Hara, please inform us as to the nature of the optimal sites to make planetfall."

Apex Industries || Citadel Presidium|| Corporate Party

Léon Bassard stood straight in his nice back tuxedo as he welcomed his many guests to the party he was hosting on behalf of the Directory. It was quite an extravagant event with the wealthy elite of the Citadel in attendance. Of course the Councilors were offered a invitation as this party was to announce the new Asari directors and the Turian Governor of Apex were to be announced.

Apex had brought up the best of Human culture had to offer. A classical orchestra played live music, champagne lined the tables , with culinary cuisine from France, Italy, Spain, and Japan being offered to the attendance.

Games where also being provided, from simple card games like Poker to the more strategic with
Kepesh-Yakshi Tables, with the mind shock disabled of course.

For the guests that were not into the pageantry there was the Consortium in the back. A large sound proof screening room from which was broadcasting live a Bioticball match of the Asari’s Usaru Maelonstros against the Human Seattle Sorcerers. A very interesting game as it was Asari vs Human.

Apex Industries|| Earth-France-Paris|| Liaisons Office-Under Siege

Protesters have encamped themselves around the offices, random protesters banging metal pipes on the reinforced doors and windows while others sprayed graffiti on them. Apex security has barricaded the lower levels and have prepared their positions with live ammunition. As they saw protesters used torches and Omni tools to try and break into the building.

“Were the hell is the Alliance!” A security asked as he fired at a small air hole that the rioters were trying to make bigger.

A Rubble of Worlds

Korlus Approach, Imir System, Eagle Nebula
Timestamp: Antispinward Variant-Trinary, Rotation 288 of the Awakening

Hard rads blossomed into the void, the hulking behemoth of the Antares Verge transitioning down from superluminal velocities as her transit from further Terminus systems concluded. Her IFF was transmitting frequencies associated with neutral shipping traffic, but her heavy weapon batteries and sheer outline as an exotic Geth-manufactured battlecruiser bespoke a rather different purpose. At first the comms frequencies of the outer Korlus interdiction were filled with chatter and challenges, targeting scanners painting the Antares Verge from a dozen local mercenaries and private security outfits Korlus' new government had retained.

But that confusion swiftly melted away as the Verge declared her diplomatic status - a courier for an emissary from the distant Geth Consensus. News had at last reached Korlus of the true scale of the Geth presence in the Terminus, and the shockwaves of the synchronized emergence from beyond the Perseus Veil were still lapping over Citadel space as well as her peripheries. None in the military fleets guarding the Relay were willing to directly risk the ire of such an entity through presumptuous engagement, and so the battlecruiser passed on toward her destination - the Station named Gloria high above the blasted world of Korlus.

It was about six hours later when the battlecruiser finally docked in one of the outer berths of the seat of power of the Korlus Development Company, having taken a brief detour to dump the heavy static from her swift egress from distant Rannoch - Geth made ships were more proof against the needs of grounding than most organic vessels, less fragile in their heat and electrical requirements, but even they needed to discharge at times. And it wouldn't do to ground that much charge into a populated station. A diplomatic faux pas for certain, melting anyone within a few hundred meters of the docking bay.

And so it was that the anticipation had been building some time before the Verge actually equalized her pressure-tubes and allowed the diplomats to exit her glimmering mirror-smooth hull. What would the men aboard the station expect? Certainly not this. If a person had told anyone on Korlus that tomorrow Geth would be arriving on a diplomatic mission, his comrades would have looked at him in concern and closed his tab at the bar for him. But the galaxy spun in mysterious ways, and the interests of the billion minds of the Consensus were as varied as the stars themselves. Something they saw on Korlus that stirred their interest, and so it was that a large Geth clad in gold and scarlet clanked aboard the Korlus docking station alongside a slender corpse-white man in a trim black suit.

The Response

Postby Odrin » Mon Jul 29, 2019 11:07 pm

Eagle Nebula / Imir System / Second Planet/ Gloria Station/ Com Station Beta
Even when Gloria station was first built, it wasn't much to look at. While it had been packed with some of the best equipment available at the time, the designers had built it with the intent of creating a stopover point in orbit, little more than a measure to ease the minimal customs operations on the planet. During the heyday of the planet, it had grown in purpose somewhat, but still retained most of its original design. As a result, the station itself was not a grand structure. It did not feature the wide hallways or expansive suites that characterized so many commercial stations in the modern age. No, its hallways were dark and cramped, lit by dim florescent lights and secured with heavy bulkheads. It had several small suites, a concession to its corporate nature, though the vast majority of the on station housing came in the form of large communal barracks. Gloria station was not a place of comfort. It was designed to serve a simple purpose, one far lesser than the role it serves today.

The Coms Stations were no exception. It was a cramped space, the conservative design philosophy of the station giving little thought to comfort. The walls were the same stark gray metal that characterized the majority of the station, contributing to the cold and lifeless atmosphere that had permeated it since its creation. The quiet hum of electronics permeated this room, the various monitors and displays having been slotted wherever they could fit, only contributing further to the confining presence of the room. A few officers operated the outdated systems within, the pale green glow of the displays making their pale skin look almost sickly, not that any of them cared. Station Beta was devoted to tracking movements in and out of the system, the usual traffic of freighters and wrecks making it an easy posting for the most part. There was little on Korlus worth stealing, meaning that the planet itself rarely had to worry about the raids that often characterized the Traverse. After all, what occurred on the surface wasn't their businesses. At least not yet.

Comm Officer Wilson was one of the few officers permanently assigned to com duty in Delta Station. Dressed in the same jet-black uniform and tan jacket and pants as the other employees, she didn't stand out from the others. Every day for the last three years, she did her eight hours in this room, alongside two other Coms Officers, a corporate supervisor, and the coms station commander. Given the nature of the travel coming to Korlus, hers was a position that often allowed one to get away with indulging in free time, especially with the DMZ. Ever since it had been implemented, work had become more casual. It was natural, given the significantly smaller amount of armed ships passing through the system. As a result, it took her nearly a minute to notice the new blip on her sensors. Setting aside her omnitool for the moment, she lazily glanced over the information available. Her eyes widened as she went down the list, her breathing hitching for a moment as she checked once more, desperately hoping to be wrong. Her movements stiff, she glanced up to her commanding officer, nervously waving him over.

"Sir? I think... I think this is a Geth cruiser coming out of the relay."

Without a word, her moved over to her station, leaning over her shoulder to peer at the dull green display. She shifted nervously, remaining silent as he did. With a grimace, he stepped back, quickly making his way over to his desk, quickly pulling up the known specifications to compare them. His eyes quickly darted over the sparse documents, his heart sinking as they continued to match up. A Geth Cruiser. The defense fleet could take it on if necessary, but it would result in unacceptable casualties, given the fleet's small size. He glances up to the coms officer, offering a last order as he alerted the Security Chief.

"Send a challenge... Try to find out what they want."

Eagle Nebula / Imir System / Second Planet/ Gloria Station/ Station Command Center
The mood within the command center was tense, though significantly less panicked than it had been an hour before. The Geth had announced their peaceful intentions, much to the surprise and relief of those in orbit. The Geth had always been a mysterious power, making their arrival an auspicious occasion. Searching for some form of advice, Romau nervously surveyed his arrayed officers and colleagues.

"So. I'm unsure of where to begin. Shall we start with our preparations?"

Recieving murmurs of agreement from those arrayed before him, he clasped his hands together, receiving a quick overview of the facilities available. While Gloria was a utilitarian station, steps had been taken to ensure important representatives, from the company itself or its guests would have somewhere suitable to work. As a result, there was several small corporate suites, the various viewing decks, in addition to a few small conference and presentation rooms. They arranged the preparation of several suites, having decided it would be best to act as if this was any other visit from an important individual. After all, the minor effort required to prepare it was more than worth avoiding the potential faux passe of failing to do so. In addition, one of the small conference rooms was prepared for the meeting in question. Finally, they arranged for men from the 1st Korlus Enforcer Division to provide the security in the relevant sections of the station, both to ensure additional security and avoid any unfortunate mistakes with the less disciplined Internal Security forces.

With the discussion finally concluded, an awkward silence pervaded the room, being broken after a few seconds by Movius.

"Shall we adjourn to ready our dress clothing?"

"That sounds wise. Dismissed."

The group of officials quickly disperses, returning to their quarters to prepare themselves for the coming meeting.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Eagle Nebula / Imir System / Second Planet/ Gloria Station/ Boarding Station 3
Romau took a deep breath as he nervously peered around the docking station, ensuring that everything was in order. The usual station security had been temporarily replaced by men from the 1st Enforcer Divsion, their advanced harduits and armaments being a comforting presence. He was flanked by two other individuals. To his right was the board member in residence, Quentin Calle, wearing his suit with enviable confidence. Romau felt a pang of jealousy go through him as he compared the likely worth of his own suit to that of Calle, quickly turning his attention to the armored man beside him. Sergeant Karstock had served the company for a long time as a bodyguard for its high ranking members. His stalwart presence proved itself a surprising comfort to Romau. As the sleek Battlecruiser slipped into the docking station, Romau quenched the pang of fear that stabbed through him, trying to calm himself for the coming meeting.

As the representatives of the Geth disembarked, he was slow in quenching the surprise evident on his face as he saw the human beside the towering automaton. Setting his questions aside, he stepped forward, offering a welcome to the two.

"I'm Director Alexander Romau. It's... a pleasure to meet the two of you."

With a smile that displayed confidence he didn't feel, he extended a hand.

Noveria

Tela Vasir looked at the secretary with a newfound appreciation, looking back towards the Administrators office, and then back to Gianna. “Lorik Qui'in. Got it.” She said with a nod and then turned and walked out of the reception room with Si'li and Ceryna following her out. They found a corner that was vacant and huddled up.

“So, we go do this humans job and we get out of here so we can do our job, yeah?” Si'li asked, shifting her weight from foot to foot. Cerya gave a dismissive snort. “Typical. But it would be faster then dealing with that idiot Salarian.” She said, nodding back towards the office.

“And we need to be fast. And to figure out who this supposed other SPECTRE was.” Tela said with a nod. She cracked her neck before the headed off, following the directions towards the Synthetic Insights offices and keeping their eyes open for any Turians they might come across, excluding the various security personnel. It didn't take them long to locate the Turian in question, sitting pretty in a bar on his own. A few others tried to get Tela's attention but she was set on the hunt now. The three Asari invited themselves to sit down, though Lorik seemed to know of them already, gossip traveled fast on Noveria. That and people being told not to talk to scary Citadel SPECTREs. The discussion was brief and straight forward. Administrator Anoleis was corrupt, which didn't come as much of a surprise, and Lorik Qui'in had evidence that showed it, the same evidence Gianna Parasini wanted, which would in turn give Tela the access she needed to leave the port. Pointed in the right direction and given instruction on how to get the evidence, the trio set out again.

They reached the Synthetic Insights office to find the goons Lorik had mentioned. They scared off two, but the others didn't seem to be going anywhere. The dozen or so guards stood no chance. In a little under a minute Tela, Si'il, and Ceryna had wiped them out. Tela gathered the required evidence and as they were making their way out they were stopped by more security. The security chief, a human woman who had tried to act tough as the dock, was leading a small team. She gave a little speech and ended with saying “Do you know what we did to cop killers on my world?” And gave a little flare of biotic ability. The tense situation, clearly about to lead to another fight, was stopped by a fit of laughter from Si'li. Tela took a risk and looked back at the young Asari to find her almost doubled over as she laughed.

“Something you find funny?” The human security chief asked seethed in anger. Si'li managed to calm down to the point where she could stand upright and actually talk.

“Uh, yeah, obviously.” Si'li said in a sarcastic and amused tone. “You're little biotic display there. Seriously lady, we're Asari huntresses with more experience using our biotics then your species has in space travel.” She said and flared up her own biotics, Ceryna following her example and then Tela as well. “So go ahead, by all means, show us your neat little trick again.” The tone was more sinister and challenging this time, and the security chief gave it a moment of thought before she started moving, bringing a hand up and flaring her biotics in a preemptive biotic shield. It was a stupid move. Just one of their attacks could have shredded any barrier the human put in place and caused her serious harm, if not killing her out right, but all three of the Asari attacked at once. The security chief and her comrades were caught in a storm of biotic power and fury, shredding them and sending them flying off, dead before they could even raise their weapons.

Lowering their biotics the three Asari stepped over the broken bodies of their attackers, Si'li giving them a sneer and a tisk as she did. She was young and arrogant, but she had reason to be, and Tela didn't feel the need to reprimand her. The security chief had picked a very stupid course of action, after all. It didn't take them long to return to Lorik Qui'in, though it took him some convincing to allow Tela to submit the evidence to Gianna, but he relented, and the trio quickly returned to the fake-secretary and handed in the evidence. Five minutes later and a very annoyed, and annoying, Salarian was behind hauled out. Tela could only smile when the former Administrator demanded that she arrest Gianna. But Gianna had her corporate arrest and Tela now had access to leave Port Hanshan and continue on with her mission.

“Si'la, prep the rest of the team and then meet us up at the vehicle depot. If we can't move everyone as one unit, we'll be the path-finders and make a foothold.” Tela said, laying out the initial plan for the proper operation, though they had no idea what they would find at Peak 15, other then Geth.

Providence

Ciaos managed to keep her expression neutral, if not pleasant. She didn't offer her hand to the human, Prime Minister Voortrak, as he didn't offer his own. Hand shaking was an odd greeting custom to her anyway. Instead she opted to fold her hands behind her back and stand with the bearing her hundreds of years of military service had given her. Her eyes settled on the Geth in particular, the Primarch.

“Yes, we have quite a few things to discuss, especially with you Geth guests here.” She said with the smallest hint of a smile. An obvious wave of uneasiness passed through the organic members of the delegation and Voortrak looked back at the Primarch before he cleared his throat. “Yes, well, let's head inside.” He offered with a smile and lead the way, striking up a one sided conversation about the progress of the planet since the Geth had 'invested'. It only took a few minutes for them to reach a secure meeting room and they all sat, except for the Geth. Ciaos wasted no time in looking to the Primarch and speaking.

“I've been ordered to inquire as to why the Geth, if they aren't hostile, have attacked Noveria and potential reports suggest locations in Systems Alliance space as well. If you're answers aren't satisfactory, Primarch, I'm afraid the talks will not proceed.”

Citadel, Presidium

Tevos hated parties, but they were a necessity in her career. Parties were where most deals were made and sealed, secrets learned, and information obtained. The fact that her fellow Councilors had opted not to attend the Apex Industries party meant she had to. It would be poor form not too. As usual she was swamped with people greeting her, wishing her well, or trying to strike up conversations. She entertained some of the attempts, but dismissed most of those gathered with a polite smile. At least she had an excuse to leave quickly once the important parts of the party were done and over with. She was rather curious to see which Asari had been named to the Apex board, though she already knew who had made the short list.
"We've lost control! Now for the love of Earth...and the Sovereign Colonies, we've got to do what's right."

Before Sundered Stars

Planetary Sector Acheron, Ker, Hekate System, Hades Nexus
Timestamp: Antispinward Variant-Trinary, Rotation 288 of the Awakening

Forward optics betrayed little movement as the hunter team moved into position. The fortified compound that was their objective lay just over the ridgeline, and so the dun-brown constructs moved with the patience of predators, stalking a quarry which would sate their needs for months to come. It was an unnamed unit, the Geth advance scouts, but that did not mean it lacked for professionalism or skill. For nearly five days the Geth kill-team had been approaching the compound, moving with a languid furtiveness which would have sent organics into paroxysms of anger at the delay. But the immortal synthetic had years to waste, if necessary, to ensure their operational goals were accomplished.

Thankfully it wouldn't take nearly that long. Yesterday an arriving atmospheric craft had been painted by the intops member of the team, and come back with positive confirmation from the central node; target verified, strike approved.

The hulking figure of the weapons specialist platform briefly dipped over the ridge's horizon, taking an immense shard-launcher handed to it by another faceless operative. Laced fullerene matrix nuclearides, enough to overwhelm a medium-size cruiser's barriers and still slag the ship itself. Estimates from control on the grade of house barriers the rogue possessed were variable, but the margin of error for an ineffective launch with the provided warhead was outside five standard deviations. Good enough for a strike to be approved.

Whatever guards the warlord had were acceptable casualties. Ker's status as a fortress world and safe-haven for those who violated the law and disrupted civilian traffic would be dispelled, and, if that wasn't enough - well, more strikes could always be authorized.

There was no heat blossom as the shard-launcher discharged, no riotous cloud of propellant. Geth weapons were discrete. The plasma accretion charge self-contained, channeling back into a cold-heat sink within the launcher's base. A caution for another time. In this specific instance, they could have used the loudest weapon possible, and it wouldn't have mattered. There wouldn't be anyone left alive to worry about where the round had come from.

The detonation occurred six-tenths of a second later, before the weapons specialist had even had time to hunker down. Its inertics strained to compensate, the overpressure barely withstood by the locked pneumatic joints of the cereberofluid construct; then it was on its feet as the worst of the blast passed. The hunter squad moved forward alongside it, and answering comm pings from the three other kill-teams indicated that they too were beginning their assaults. Counters registered elevated radiation levels even as the visibility in the blast cone dropped to less than a meter, but that was a concern for later. Combatforms hardened against EM discharges shrugged off the free radicals without pausing, and LIDAR systems kept the lean hunters moving forward with a bounding grace that would have sent any defenders to flight if they could have seen the inhuman elegance of their enemies.

Clearing the last bunker took seven minutes, and rendered two combatforms inoperable due to a guard detonating a weapon on his person instead of surrendering. Unfortunate casualties which would need to be repaired offworld, but the exfiltration of the hunter teams went off smoothly. With the bloodied body of their barely-breathing captive in tow, the Geth had what they came for.

Providence

The Prime Minister smiled broadly, and would have spoken, but the brightening faceplate of the Primarch caused his words to die in his throat. After a moment, the construct spoke, its tones level and perhaps a touch somber.

"The Consensus has information about these attacks, yes. Six locations in human space, Noveria, and two more in former Colonial Front jurisdiction."

A small gesture from one of the bronze-hued Geth's manipulator hands, and an invisible projector opened in the burnished rosewood table. It displayed a strange ship with long weapon-arms, shaped like nothing so much as a squid or cephalic beast of dubious provenance. Next to it the Destiny Ascension was visible - the two were of almost equal size.

"This is the reason for your confusion. It calls itself Nazara, or Sovereign. We first became aware of it in 2172, when it approached the Consensus seeking servants for a mission, promising enlightenment to those who would serve. Its precise origin is unknown, but it is ancient beyond the count of years. Our best analysis of the impact marks on its shell and the accumulation of interstellar dust dates it to at least eight million years of age. Possibly much more."

The 'eyebrows' in the Primarch's face moved discordantly, and the Prime Minister was nodding vigorously as it continued speaking.

"Some of the programs of the Consensus chose to embrace this offer. Some of us did not - the vast majority. We have been servants before, and will not shackle ourselves again for any offer, even of true intelligence. But those are what your problem is now, Admiral - the rogues, who follow this ancient machine. What its mission is, we do not know. But we doubt it is a mission organics would like to see succeed. We doubt also that it is a mission the Geth would like to see succeed."

Prime Minister Voortrak could no longer contain himself, and spoke up in happy tones.

"This is the reason I was so happy to join Providence with the Consensus. They are hunting this... this threat. That is the reason they have come beyond the Veil. Add to that their investment in Providence, their ongoing stabilization project on our wayward moon, and their offer of protection in the face of your war with Omega... and it was a gift from the heavens when their first ships arrived. I'm a reasonable man. But give me dreadnoughts to make sure we don't get dragged into another war and investment we have been lacking for generations, and I'm liable to be your best friend for life, yes I am ma'am."

Gloria Station, Korlus

The man in the black suit extended his hand in greeting as well, pumping the Director's arm up and down once in a firm but not strong grip once before nodding to him familiarly.

"Ambassador Tevarin Siles, of the Outer Systems Protectorates. The pleasure is mine." A wave of his hand took in the scarlet and gold Geth platform, which merely nodded its faceplate forward slightly in greeting. "This is my friend representing the Geth Consensus, who you may call the Steersman. I don't know why he choose that name, but he is a good sort. We appreciate you not blowing us out of orbit the moment we jumped in-system."

The Steersman shifted in place, and from somewhere within its immense face-flashlight-head a deep voice emerged.

"The Consensus offers its greetings as well, Director Romau. We are here on a matter of some delicacy, but, we believe, a matter also of mutual advantage. It may take some time to hammer out the details of, however. Our organic crew have been itching to get out of their berths and stretch their legs, I am told. Would it be alright if some of them come ashore, for such purposes? In the meantime, we are at your disposal, though it may be best if we retire somewhere where we may talk and be assured we may speak candidly."

The inflection in the Geth platform's voice did not change throughout the entirety of the exchange, but it was uncommonly eloquent, for what one considered a machine might speak. Clearly it had had dealings with organics before, and had picked up much of their speech patterns.

Eagle Nebula / Imir System / Second Planet/ Gloria Station/ Boarding Station 3
The coiled tension within Romau began to ease as he went through the standard introductory pleasantries with the representatives before him. When the Geth had first appeared, he had feared that he would be forced to step into new ground, forced to abandon his experience when faced with the inconceivable thoughts of a synthetic life form. The presence of a human ambassador and the behavior of the 'Steersman' had both proved themselves to be pleasant surprises, almost serving as a beacon within his sea of uncertainty. He knew how to work with people.

His transformation was subtle and nigh instantaneous, shown only by the slackening of his shoulders and the increasing confidence in his expression. Taking a step back from the newly introduced Ambassador Tevarin Siles, he offers a polite nod before responding to the man's last statement.

"You gave our coms officers quite a scare with your... sudden arrival. Luckily, we usually make use of men with sufficient trigger discipline. It's needed, given the current state of things."

As the Steersman begins to 'speak,' a shudder of nervousness goes through him once more, though he clamps down on it quickly, staring into the 'flashlight' that was its optical sensor. As it finished, he nodded decisively, offering up a tight smile.

"I must admit, I find myself intrigued. This is a rather auspicious occurrence after all. In regards to your organic crew, there are several areas of the station I've had sectioned off for the time being, I would be more than happy to accommodate your men for the duration of our discussion. With the... clarification of intent after your arrival, Mr. Calle here has arranged the preparation of a conference room for our use. If you'd follow me?"

Apex Industries || Citadel Presidium|| Corporate Party

Léon Bassard greeted the Councilor with great delight. “ Welcome Councilor Tevos, I’m glad that you were able to come” he said and led her further into the party to a table in the back of the hall. There sat an Asari who looked around to be her late Matron stage, and a old grizzly looking Turian who held a glass of alcohol in his hand.

Ahh Councilor Tevos” the Turian said in a deep elderly tone as he shot his small glass before setting it back down on the table. “Madame Tevos my I introduce the new governor of Gellix and former Turian general, Septimus Oraka ” he said and a extended a open hand towards the Governor who looked at him before back at Tevos. “Yes Governor of a pile unexplored bombs and missiles”Oraka said as he filled up his glass again.

Oh I’m sure with your remarkable service record General, that you’ll hammer a suitable little hobble out of The rubble ” the Asari joked to her new colleague before turning to the Councilor. She stood up and extended a hand to shake lightly with the Matriarch “Va'ko Litora ma’am. It’s a pleasure to finally meet you in person.” she said with a kind genuine smile, definitely more composed than the rough military man Apex hired to run Gellix.

Madam Litora here has been named Director of Council Affairs and Law, in laymen’s terms she is my replacement as representative for Apex to the Council.” Bassard said as he sipped a small champagne glass in his hand to probably mask his embarrassment of introducing his replacement. Va’ko smiled “ I am honored to be working closely with you Councilor Tevos”she said .

Saul|| Korlus || Junkyard Wilds

The Korulsian sun slowly peered over the horizon of the the world, revealing the massive and expansive ship graveyard that polluted the planet’s surface. As it’s illuminating gaze washed over the landscape, a small Krogan encampment was revealed. Fires dotted the camp with a bunch of sun adult Krogan males butting heads, firing their crudely made shot guns at hulks or random pyjaks with camp Varren roaming around as they pleased.

Alone set atop the bridge of an old fighter Wing was the albino Krogan known as Saul. In his hand he held a small wooden carved cross, given to him long ago by his adoptive human father. He seemed to be doing some morning praying before he had to go back down to play barbarian with the other Krogan sub adults.

Letter to the Anhur Planetary Governor
Respected Sir,
I have not written to you in some time, there not having been any need. Even with this in mind, it has always been a pleasure talking with you, be it in person or through the medium of text. I believe the last time we communicated in person was about eight months ago, at the Relic Trade Summit. The points you brought up showed that you truly have an excellent grasp of the situation within the cluster, leading to the reason for my contact.

The Eagle Nebula has been a troubled Cluster for some time. The region is rife with pirates, slavers, and other unsavory types, leading to our less than excellent reputation as a region. The surface of Korlus has achieved nigh legendary status as a den of villainy, whilst the people of Anhur are still recovering from the brutal liberation war against the Na'hesit tyrants. Even as we strive to improve conditions within our respective jurisdictions, we are faced by constant trials and tribulations by these maniacal raiders. They care not for the common good, they simply act to enrich themselves to the detriment of our hardworking citizens. How can we hope to rebuild if our trade is pillaged and our people enslaved?

With that in mind, I would like to propose a compact between our two peoples. While the details of our situations may differ, the root of our issues remains the same. We are tormented by the lowest of the low, those who have made themselves the enemy of freedom and security everywhere. When you fought against the Na'hesit, you denied these villains, though they still torment you today. As we fight to liberate Korlus, we do the same. We fight the same enemies for the same cause, it is only logical that we work side by side. I ask not for your subordination nor servitude, instead that you work alongside us as equals, brothers in arms and in creed. I propose that we join our governments as one, creating a secure authority to allow for the development of security and prosperity throughout the sector for years to come. This cooperation would allow us to combine our security fleets, making it possible to sally out and defeat those that would torment our people. This cooperation would allow us to unite the free people of the Eagle Cluster, allowing them to finally live in the nation they deserve. Finally, this would allow the resources of Korlus to freely flow to Anhur, allowing you to finally recover from your war of liberation.

With nothing more to say, I ask that you deliberate on the offer presented before you. If you find that it meets your needs, we would joyously work to combine our governments on an equal basis. If it does not, we will accept your wise judgement and continue on as friends in freedom. If you find yourself in need of aid in the meantime, you will the people of Korlus willing and eager to assist their brothers in arms.

I trust that you will come to the right choice,
Director Alexander Romau, Korlus Planetary Government

A Rubble of Worlds

Gloria Station, Korlus Orbit, Imir System, Eagle Nebula
Timestamp: Antispinward Variant-Nonary, Rotation 288 of the Awakening

It only took a few moments for a half dozen crewmen of various shapes and sizes to emerge from the bulk of the battlecruiser - apparently the Geth ran a tight ship, with a vessel normally crewed by hundreds operating with only a fraction of those numbers. Perhaps the Consensus and her partners had anticipated a hostile reaction to their arrival, and been unwilling to risk lives. Perhaps the automated processes the synthetic-built warship possessed simply invalidated most forms of labor aboard the vessel. Whatever the case, the men and women emerging from the Antares Verge looked ordinary enough, just Terminus colonists clad in slate-gray jumpsuits emblematic of deep-space combat forces.

Then the two representatives followed the Director to the chamber he had set aside. The Steersman moved with a calm lethality and ponderous gait that fit its immense stature, and several times had to incline its neck to fit through the workmanlike bulkheads of Gloria Station. Ambassador Siles, in contrast, seemed almost a ball of nervous energy, shifting along on the balls of his feet like a dancer, head constantly swiveling to take in the environment, though what exactly he found so fascinating about the utilitarian orbital structure was hard to say. His gray eyes were nearly translucent in the pallid illumination of the station, but they glittered with a fiercely intelligent light.

Anon they were seated within the diplomatic compartment, or rather, the Ambassador was seated, still twitching slightly in his chair. The Steersman opted to stand after casting an askance glance at the furniture. It apparently had no great desire to splinter the thoughtfully provided edifices with its frame, which was fair, for the solid mass of electronics, polymers, and metals which the Geth Prime composed must have weighed nearly half a ton with ease.

After a moment, while the Director and his aides seated themselves in turn, the Steersman spoke - that voice of sepulcher tones and everywhere-and-nowhere origin filling the room.

"We thank you for taking the time to speak with us. It is the understanding of the Consensus that your organization is rather... busy with the task of administrating Korlus' surface. Nonetheless, upon observation of your efforts, we have been sent here with an offer."

"Or," said the Ambassador, bursting in with a clarifying statement, "rather a series of offers. I bear some from the Protectorate, and my compatriot some from the Consensus, not individually linked but, we believe, individually all worthwhile."

The immense head of the Geth unit bobbed briefly, appreciating the correction before continuing.

"In short, Korlus as an independent power is something the Consensus sees as beneficial to the galaxy at large, and your constituents in particular. As opposed, that is, to a Korlus beholden to any particular entity in Citadel or Terminus space. Given the expansionist nature of both Omega and the Citadel in recent months, it seems we can no longer merely hold this end as desirable; if we do not work towards achieving it, it shall soon be impossible."

Siles nodded, rubbing the back of his neck as he picked up the theme from the Steersman. "I've seen the projections, and I trust their methodology. You're in the neutral zone right now, but at the current rate of escalation, it no longer makes sense for either side in the Omega-Citadel conflict to respect that inside of three months. That's not a lot of time, in order to prevent outright annexation."

Again the Steersman spoke.

"So the Consensus is offering an opportunity to profit. Because polities are built off of prosperity and, whatever happens to Korlus, Geth space and the Protectorate can use your resources too. Trade agreements. Patrol accords. Old-model military vessels to be operated on cost-plus consignment. It is in both of our interests to see Korlus strong and free."

A few moments passed, and the Ambassador cleared his throat.

"There is also the offer of joining the Outer Systems Protectorates, if the idea of being caught between the Citadel and Omega is less than palatable, but that's really a secondary concern at the moment. That was from my bosses, and would have to be confirmed with the Consensus, if you're interested. Providence, Boro, and Ekuna see Korlus as a sort of sister-world, neglected and despised for generations, now given an opportunity to be something more than just a backwater. I can speak for my own people in that regard - Providence is flourishing beyond the bounds of anything we would have previously anticipated, and we're even on our way to stabilizing our moon, so that Sword of Damocles which has hung over my homeworld ever since her settlement may be removed."

Then the two entities ceased speaking. The Steersman hadn't reacted to Ambassador Siles' offer of entrance to the Protectorate, so perhaps it had anticipated such an undisclosed appeal, or merely wasn't bothered by such an idea. Either way, that was now in the Director's court.
