Nos Astra, Illium

Liselle smiled as the treaty was signed and the agreement struck. It had been short and successful, now she could spend a few additional days relaxing on Illium before duty called her back to Omega. As the media attention was still on the pair she smiled and said, "Thank you Representative Irissa, Matriarch Benezia. It has been an honor to meet you both and start what should be the first of many minor meetings between our sectors of space. Given time, I am sure that myself and our State Department can bring my mother down from the war platform she is on right now with minimal casualties to both sides. We will have peace at some point, I am sure."

She didn't say these words loudly, instead speaking so the Media could not particularly make out what she was saying and indeed the media was only able to gather a few words from what she had said at all. "Mother...war...casualties." There was speculation abound as to what she had actually said to the Council diplomats, but for now it seemed that with the DMZ established, the war would get on in earnest.

Liselle had other appointments to make while on Illium and soon departed the conference center with her guard. Hardly staying to give more than a few words to a couple reporters on her way out of the building. She had an old friend to meet up with and talk to.

Detective (or rather former detective) Kryia found herself in some fourth-rate extranet café, nursing a few broken ribs. Eclipse hadn’t taken kindly to her pointed commentary. Well. The looks on their smug fucking faces were well worth the occasional jabs of agony she still got. She couldn’t go back to her apartment – a bit dicey, that proposition – and she didn’t have many friends to turn to. So here she was, in a seedy lower-levels joint that smelled like vape and smelled like teenager, glaring at the data stripped from the corpses of the New Spiritualists. Joke was on Eclipse – who would actually hire those bumbling assholes? “Oh hey Manufacturers”, she muttered to herself, “we just murdered your last proxy group at the prompting of your least favourite Inspector – care to hire us?”

Her head swam. Black market medigel was – well.

"Laaadies", some vile youth hollered from several stations down the row. "These pods are hitting me differently!"

That worked.

Right.

Data.

Most of it was crap – the usual payments to arms dealers (didn’t do them much good), security consultants (even less good), dealers in Turian religious knick-knacks (probably can’t hurt) and… a group life insurance policy in case of an act of the Spirits, conspicuous martyrdom, or supernatural intervention. Rapture insurance. Huh. Well, she mused, if they had a good enough legal team they could probably win a case on account of their recent extermination. Not sure what it’d do for them, but that’s life. Heh.

Ansaia Kryia did not giggle. But she snickered. Then groaned in pain and reflexively hacked up some blood. It spattered across the table under the holo-keyboard. Huh! Convenient!

There. The meeting logs. Everything was indexed. Mercenaries, enforcers, street preachers, Athamites, the Religious Inspectorate, the Turian Legate – double dipping? Very naughty! – and a regular gap. So, like any good detective, she cross-referenced with their aircar pool. No luck. Wait – this was a Turian cult. Of course leadership had their own aircars. Probably Dassault-Mitsuis, too, the bastards. They weren’t registered, but the chauffeurs were. That was the first rule of a cult. Never get a cult member to drive you around. You could hide things from anybody except your chauffeur – better to keep them out of contact with the rubes. There. Departures and arrivals, as well as payments to a mid-level firm. What next? Cross-reference with the financial data. There – “street alms” logged in some obscure crypto, once a month, shortly after the arrival back at the compound. And a “guidance seminar” shortly afterwards. Track the crypto, track the funds.

The thing about obscure crypto was that it was hard to generate. Left all kinds of traces. Everything had to be registered on Illium, so the trick was making it innocuous. Of course, that also meant that once it was found it was easy to track – for a Government agent, at least. You just had to know what to look for. Where did it come from?

The New Day Group. Charitable foundation dedicated to the “advancement of pan-Asari culture, free trade, and philosophical pluralism”. Flashy website, no details. Impossible to notice unless you already knew where to look. Filings under a thousand layers of paperwork – easy to navigate if you already had an objective in mind – listed their employees as two. One was a secretary. Public extranet profile, short work tenure. Probably knew nothing and was paid to answer mail and ignore pointed questions. The other…

Dahla Alhad. Obvious pseudonym. It’s like they were mocking her. No details, no profile, no previous employment, no resume. Nothing. A ghost. And the Manufacturer’s Association’s – or whatever moved them’s – fixer. Kryia had another piece, but she couldn’t prove shit.

It was a good thing she was unemployed – proof was no longer a requirement.

So where the fuck was this no-name? Only one way to find out – back to financial disclosure documents. Damn this place reeked.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

The University of Nos Astra, a seedy student pub. The walls are covered with peeling posters – “expel the foreigners! Smash the Volus plot! For a free Illium and the national revolution!” There are three people there – the bartender, a bored Serrice exchange student too broke to buy her trip back to Thessia and finish her degree. She takes extra tips not to notice things. A student, Asari, fashionably shabby in the current revolutionary style. Very young and very nervous. She sits at a table near the Quasar machine, which blinks and flickers. It only takes a joke crypto that stopped being funny almost two centuries ago. Nobody bothers to fix it. The third person sits down. A bland, middle-aged Asari in what passes for business casual. She could be a professor, or the student’s mother, or an administrator, or even a bored salarywoman out for some “compensated dating”. The bartender doesn’t ask, and the student already knows.

“Do you have…” the student half-whispers, eyes darting around.

Without responding, the older woman reaches under the table. She heaves and pulls up a long, narrow, rectangular case. It could contain anything. She plops it on the table and pats it a few times.

“I have it”, she states blandly.

“So I’ve been chosen? The Vanguard Committee chose me to spark the revolution?”

“Sure.”

There is a heavy silence for a moment.

“Can I-“

“Not here.”

The student breathes and nods.

“Who’s my target?”

“Liselle T’Loak.”

“I thought it would be Ben-“

“Liselle T’Loak.”

Another pause.

“So…. The Vanguard Committee wants to start the fire by throwing the conference into chaos. Cause a mess. Maybe even scupper the DMZ. And then what? I don’t understand the strategy here – why not aim for the Republics? They’re higher-profile targets? Our whole line – neither Thessia nor Omega – implies-“

“Shut up. I’m not here to discuss sophomore politics. You have your orders, and you have your tool. Are you going to do it, or am I going to have to kill you and find someone else?”

“I’ll do it.”

“Thank you”, the bland woman states, and rises. “You’ll be doing a great service to the Asari people.”

“Comrade-“ the student calls – “before you go, what’s your name?”

The bland woman smiles – well, that would be tautological. “Dahla Ahlad. Good luck, comrade.”

Xe Cha System, Shrike Abyssal

The Second Fleet had received its orders and stood by ready to go forth and strike its target. They simply waited on confirmation from Omega that all factors were favorable and that they would have minimal resistance. On board the Battlecruiser Pride of Omega the Commanding officer was Grizz, one of Aria's Liutenants. The Turian had seen his share of battle and sending a Turian as the Commanding officer was vital. Most of the forces involved were Turians who had switched over from the Legion and they knew that their loyalty was to be tested soon. They were aboard the transports which had been embedded into the second fleet in previous months. Reports of the enemy position were sketchy at best. That's when the message came through the relay buoy system. The lights were green and they were going to launch the attack.

Thal System, Shrike Abyssal

Far removed from Turian space, and with practically no lines of communication back through friendly systems, Altakiril sat at the edge of the galaxy. Freezing temperatures kept population centers focused around the equator where it was more mild and the dextro-amino acid based native life flourished in abundance. The turians who did come to this planet to settle were more independent minded than those within Turian Space. The moons of Xerceo hold small outposts which could be cleaned up later, for now the target was Altakiril. The Fleet was set to actively scan the system and engage any Turian forces they find within before landing on and capturing the planet. They of course sent an offer for the world to simply surrender itself. Additionally, a message was sent back to Omega to notify the First Fleet and the Omega Defense Fleet that the attack on Altakiril was finally under way, nearly two months after it was initially planned.

Aria's Dreadnought, Sahrabarik System, Omega Nebula

Aria received the report and scrambled the station's fighters and interceptors. They would conduct Combat Space Patrols around the fleets as they positioned themselves to open fire on anything coming through the relay while staying within the Covering Fire of Omega, Theta, and Chi Stations which could provide covering fire to most of the system. To provide additional preparation however, Aria dispatched two Frigates to each of the Pylos, Caleston, Phoenix Massing, Shadow Sea, and Hawking Eta. They had orders to keep close to the relay to Omega and to await for any Citadel Council ships entering the Relay System whereupon they would withdraw after scouting the force composition. Additionally, should one force detect Citadel forces the others had orders to withdraw back to Omega and reform with the first fleet.

2nd Fleet to Altakiril in Thal System of Shrike Abyssal

Invasion force of 15 Infantry and 3 Gunships Deplyed from Erinle via 1 Bulk transport and 2 transports.

Two frigates from 1st fleet to each of Pylos, Caleston, Phoenix Massing, Shadow Sea, and Hawking Eta Relay system

When Pilgrims Walk Their Path, Vagabonds Shall Hamper Their Journey

Patrol Fleet-Recon Team Alpha,Charleston Rift-Balor System-In the Void Near Bres, Commander Zef'Yaann vas Xiwa

5 Frigates
1 Elite Specialist
1 Spec Ops

Zef'Yaann vas Xiwa slouched in his command chair. His two white pupils that peered though his visor to observe the data his Listing Team was gathering from Geth activists. Though there dat was rather limited, the Commander could still detect that the Geth have been expanding behind the exclusion zone at an alarming rate.

His attention though was taken away from this concerning data as two unidentified ships came through the relay. “Report Deck Officer” Cdr. Zef’Yaan ordered as a display of the two ships appeared on a center monitor on the bridge. “Two frigate class ships, markings reveal that they belong to the Pirate Queen of Omega.” the Deck officer reported. Pirates have always been a threat to the fleet. Every ship stolen by these wretches was an entire community gone, the equivalent of losing a town. However they where here to monitor Geth activity, not to go pirate hunting. Zef'Yaann vas Xiwa laughed a little bit though, he had heard the reports of Aria’s recent activity. A Pirate Queen trying to unite the Terminus, trying to go legit as it were. Zef'Yaann vas Xiwa would believe it when he sees it.

Let them be. Have the Kalnera monitor them and return our attention back to monitoring Geth activity.” Zef'Yaann vas Xiwa ordered and his crew followed his order without delay.

What Dance Calls the Dancer

Patrol Formation Windward Horizon, Twelve Light-Seconds from Primary Mass Relay, Tassrah System, Phoenix Massing
Timestamp: Upward Nobilis-Secondary, Rotation 288 of the Awakening

On the long range scanners the energy signs of the superluminal device altered minutely, echoing incoming transits. In the heart of the guardian frigate timetables were cross-referenced, and the matches came back negative; no supply ships or reinforcements were expected for another three point four rotations. The Geth commanding the light warships transmitted records of the activation swiftly, and then powered weapons, nosing forward and shedding hard rads into the interstellar void. It might just be civilian transports making good despite the change in ownership, or hapless travelers unaware of the upswing in Geth activity.

But then again, it might not - and indeed, in this case it wasn't.

Two light craft, bearing markings the neural nets spat out as belonging to the newly minted Empire of Omega. Or whatever the so-called queen was styling herself these days. They had no business being this close to the Veil, not by all projections that were accessible to the low-level naval warforms. As the Geth commander began to open hailing frequencies to demand they remove themselves, a transmission came through which puzzle the synthetic minds listening - an audio recording from Aria herself.

"There are rumors that the Geth are exploring beyond the Veil. If this is the case, I would like to meet with a representative platform of the Consensus to discuss future relations between the Terminus and the Geth."

It was short, and didn't give away much. But that was the typical taciturn manner of Omega. The frigates moving to engage the Omega assets halted, and several minutes of inactivity followed while significant amounts of power were diverted to communication nodes. Eventually, a broadcast was sent back to the Omega frigates, bearing a text response.

"Aria T'Loak is welcome to send a representative to any world in the Phoenix Massing, the Far Rim, or the Hades Nexus if she wishes to discuss relations with the Consensus. For now her representatives may have safe conduct to travel to any Relay associated with those stellar clusters."

Afterlife, Omega

Taking Aria's spot for the moment in Afterlife was Nyreen. She had recently hired a scientist to join her staff as they were preparing for the war and may need additional knowledge on the opposition's ability to A message came in from Aria's flagship. It first played what sounded like a geth recording. Nyreen and Rana listened into the message as it was replayed for them. It was intriguing. Something had changed the Geth's decisions and now they were welcoming a party from Omega to meet with the consensus for discussions.

Aria then chimed in to them. "Rana, you are going to take a corvette pack and meet with the Geth on Aite. Its a short jump and as you board your ship, I'll send a list of instructions of what you can and cannot negotiate away. You will also receive a list of what we would like of the Geth. If all goes well, you will be back at the end of the month. If it doesn't go well, we won't have much time to contemplate what to do next anyway. Good luck Rana."

Aria's transmission ends, not waiting for anyone to argue with her. The Asari looked surprised. She was the highest ranking scientist in Aria's administration, but she had never done anything like this before and was quite nervous. Sure enough as she arrived at the docking port, the corvette picked her up and soon was joined by the rest of the pack which hit the relay mere hours later.

Aite, Phoenix Massing

The corvettes passed through the relay and after a recharge they entered FTL towards the Typhoon system and Aite. As they approached they sent a message to the Geth processors that were able to detect to identify themselves as the diplomatic mission from Omega. They made requests to discuss relations with the Consensus and permission to land on Aite for the meeting.

What Dance Calls the Dancer

High Aite Orbit, Tassrah System, Phoenix Massing
Timestamp: Spinward Nobilis-Septary, Rotation 288 of the Awakening

Through the thin wisps of upper atmospheric cloud the representatives from Omega swept, twin escort fighters in the glittering silver milisteel of the Consensus guiding them down towards Adrastreia below. It wasn't strictly necessary, but Aite's orbital patterns were crowded - the newcomers had to compete for landing space with transports from throughout the Massing bearing representatives of Elcor, Humans, Asari, Hanar, even the odd Quarian all hoping to get in on the ground floor of the world's new-found development.

Militarily, indeed, far more than organizationally, the escorts weren't necessary. Lowering Geth Dreadnoughts, silent and immobile in orbit for the moment, shadowed the primary world of the cluster; enough firepower to reduce the surface of the verdant frontier world to so much fused glass within a day, now inactive and merely on standby. But it was clear that the Geth, despite being interlopers, were here to stay. Much of the shipping moving to and fro about the diplomatic frigate from Omega was nondescript ore freighters, cargo haulers, fuel liners, and scoopships, all hurrying down to the planetary surface from the far fringes of Geth Space to turn what had been a neglected rough gemstone into a polished jewel.

The landing pattern took the frigate and her escorts in low over Adrastreia herself, where dun gray skyscrapers were already reaching towards the stars. Here and there immense anchoring cables even stretched up into low orbit, pillars of midnight observable on the horizon that would one day act as the teething-points for server-cities and orbital shipyards, manufactories, armories, and low gravity research labs. More investment had been poured into Aite in the last month of Geth occupation than it had seen in a century of colonization, a strange state of affairs for the locals no doubt.

It was only three minutes from entering the stratosphere that the frigate touched down on what first appearances took to be an administration building, a large block of blastcrete and polymer in the heart of the capitol city immense enough to boast its own docking platforms for couriers and incoming diplomats. The escorts had peeled away shortly before the landing, but heavy flak guns in armored pivots atop the fortified building spoke to a military presence that did not sleep, whatever outward appearances might indicate.

On the landing pad, polished mirror-smooth granite from local mines underfoot, a well-muscled adjutant stuffed into a suit adjusted his tie one last time, flanked by several of the Geth platforms that were his minders. The pneumatic hiss of landing gear came from the Omega-flagged vessel, and slowly a landing ramp was extended. At the local man's side, a Geth Prime designated Utterance stood impassively, its flashlight head unmoving as the diplomatic delegation disembarked.

"Showtime." muttered the human representative of Aite under his breath, before breaking into a broad smile and advancing on the Pirate Queen's lackies.

"Welcome, friends, to Aite! I am Councilman Anders Voortrak, of the Outer Systems Protectorate. I am happy to hear from men and women representing the illustrious Queen of the Terminus. My friends, the Geth, inform me that you are here to negotiate several matters, matters which are as yet unclear to me, but which I am certain we can clarify with ease. If you will all follow me, I have set aside quarters for your convenience, and refreshments along with all necessaries and niceties you may require. Once you have rested and taken your leisure, my principals assure me they are prepared to get down to business as soon as you are renewed in mind and body, to allow these discussions to be as productive as possible."

The four Geth units on the platform merely stood impassively as Anders spoke, observing.

Adrastreia, Aite, Typhoon System, Phoenix Massing

The strangely lively Councilman was a surprise for Rana and her delegates. They were expecting to only be greeted by the geth platforms which she could see around the space port. The gesture was admirable by the Geth hosts, but completely unnecessary. "Thank you Councilman Anders. I appreciate the gesture, however, I have had quite a restful trip myself and can proceed should the Consensus be ready to begin." She glanced over to the platforms as she continued, "I wouldn't want your hospitality to go to waste and would kindly accept your offer of a place for my crew and myself to rest for the rest of them however. Many of the crews would enjoy some shore leave. They have credits to spend before they get into a warzone after all."

She was ready to proceed to some meeting room if that is what her host was ready for, if not she could wait. Her ships wouldn't be too missed in any sort of conflict, and her secondary job was to get a look at any geth she could, without prying of course, to see if she noticed anything about them that could be used to advance the mech units that Omega had planned.

Galactic Event

Trade flourishes across the Galaxy at the thought of a safe area for civilian traffic to hide during the conflict. All Spaceports produce an extra 2 credits per structure this month and Major Spaceports produce an extra 5 per structure.

1. Asari Republics
Economic Outlook: A slight up turn from the previous month aids the reinvigoration of the Asari economy (+3)
Exploration Status: Exploration Returns Safely (-250 Credits)
Research Status: See post, Completed EMEA, Completed SMS, Begin Hyperdreadnaught Research
Espionage: +3 IP

Events: Minor computational error in the Banking systems reduce income of all banks operating in Asari Space resulting in a loss of 50 credits this month. It is fortunate that more was not lost.

Secondary: 421 Credits seem to have vanished from the accounts, but we are unable to track where it went. The only clue we have is that these credits were stolen through Thessia and Sanves

2. Salarian Union
Economic Outlook: Salarian research firms post good numbers improving our economy (+3)
Exploration Status: No Exploration
Research Status: No Research
Espionage: +3 IP

Events: A major archaeological discovery on a remote planet has given our research a boost, +10 RP this month.

3. Turian Hierarchy
Economic Outlook: More woes for the Turian Economy as a Volus Banking Clan files for bankruptcy. (-4)
Exploration Status: No Exploration
Research Status: No Research
Espionage: No Expionage

Events: Disaster strikes! En route to the citadel, SPECTRE Saren's ship seems to have been attacked the ship was picked up by sensors in the Cnidari Cluster floating adrift. The Light cruiser seems to be completely inoperable, but no one as of yet can determine who attacked. As far as anyone can tell, the ship's engines were the first to be hit followed by a series of explosions within the bridge indicating loss of barrier and possibly torpedo hits. While much of the crew is accounted for, Saren's body has not been recovered. It is possible he was on the bridge when the attack occurred. Lose 1 Light Cruiser and Saren Arterius (SPECTRE)

4. Human Systems Alliance
Economic Outlook: A stable economy is a happy economy (+0)
Exploration Status: No Exploration
Research Status: No Research
Espionage: +0 IP

Events: A stable economy means a stable society, nothing to note this month

5. Batarian Hegemony
Economic Outlook: Batarian economic interests take a decline as peace talks with the rest of the galaxy continue (-1)
Exploration Status: No Exploration
Research Status: No Research
Espionage: No Espionage

Events: Nothing major to note in Batarian space this month.

6. Omega
Economic Outlook: National Economics is not something that the people living in the terminus are used to and typical strong arm diplomacy between worlds weakens the economic sitution(-2)
Exploration Status: Exploration Returns Safely
Research Status: Manufacturing Subroutines: 40/50 RP
Espionage: +3 IP

Events: No major events take place within Omega's sphere of influence

7. Illium
Economic Outlook: This month, the fluctuation in the Illium economy has leveled out (+0)
Exploration Status: No Exploration
Research Status: Stellar Arcologies - 24/40
Espionage: +1 IP

Events: It seems that the opposite side of the Asari banking crisis is in Illium as Illium gains 50 credits thanks to a banking error. No investigation has been opened into the occurrence.

8. Geth Consensus
Economic Outlook: More runtime errors in the geth have led to mismanaged resources (-4)

Hypersensitive Neural Nets: [40/40] Complete
Tessellated Station Shepherding: [50/50] Complete
Manufacturing Subroutines: [10/50]
Espionage: +3 IP

Events: The previous month's exploration seems to have uncovered old Quarian Survey Data of the Accolade System. It gives direction to a barren world within the Kuiper Belt that has significant Element Zero deposits. Add Barren World with Significant Element Zero Deposits (+50% mining income) to the Accolade System.

9. Quarian Flotilla
Economic Outlook: Despite their quiet existence, the Flotilla's economy is booming as trade with nearby systems improves their standing (+3)
Exploration Status: Returned Safe
Research Status: None
Espionage: +0 IP

Events: Nothing is to be noted regarding the Flotilla this month

11. Hanar Illuminated Primacy
Economic Outlook: No major changes in the Hanar's economy

12. Heshtok Vorcha
Economic Outlook: You buy Vorcha products. (+3)
Exploration Status: X
Research Status: X
Espionage: +0 IP

Events: Despite the clan war coming to an end, internal strife continues. Vorcha prefer to fight for themselves than for clan bosses and recruitment of infantry and militia units increases by 100% for this month.

13. Cerberus
Economic Outlook: No change to Cerberus investments
Exploration Status: None
Research Status: None
Espionage: +6 IP

Events: Cell activity in the Attican Beta Cluster goes silent. One day they were just fine, the next they stopped checking in. Orbital scans do not show signs of battle and the base seems to be operating normally.

14. Korlus Planetary Government
Economic Outlook: An excellent month for Korlus as promises of peace in the region boost the economy and attract new investors. (+5)
Exploration Status: None
Research Status: None
Espionage: NOne

Events: An excellent economic month attracts the attention of a Krogan Warlord named Okeer who begins a secret research project which he promises to share with the Korlus Government (+1 Elite Specialist (Warlord Okeer - Elites, Biotics, High Quality Armaments, Close Quarters Combat, Heavy Weapons, Advanced Armor, +1 Infantry (Heavy weapons, Advanced Armor))

16. Eclipse
Economic Outlook: Despite this month's events, the Eclipse has a good economic month (+4)
Exploration Status: None
Research Status: None
Espionage: +0 IP

Events: A very good economic month combines with excellent fortune. An old HSA cruiser thought to have been lost to the void has been recovered by the Eclipse and quietly reconfigured. At a cost of 10 credits, a Light Cruiser can be obtained with only one month of construction.

Ever since the raid on Feros, the members of Date Chapter have been acting strange. Even the commanding officer seems to have been changed by something going on in the area. However, it is the 11th Eclipse Infantry Division [High Quality Weapons], that vanishes one morning without a trace from their bunks. It seems they took their weapons and gear and booked transit off world without notifying anyone. Reports of strange transports loading the troops in the hours before dawn are the only clue as to what happened to the 11th Division.

17. Elcor Courts
Economic Outlook: A poor month for the Elcor who see losses across the economy (-4)
Exploration Status: None
Research Status:
Espionage:+0 IP

Events: Aside from the poor month economically, the Elcor military sees a boost as recruiters say they can get twice as many recruits at half the cost this month. This month all ground forces cost 50% less this month.

17. Attican Beta Colonial Front
Economic Outlook: No change in the ABCF's economic outlook this month
Exploration Status: None
Research Status: None
Espionage:+0 IP

Events: The Colonial front faces a minor setback as the industrial centers seem to malfunction and require a reboot costing the ABCF 2 credits per industrial Complex.

What Dance Calls the Dancer

Foreman's Primacy Center,Aite, Tassrah System, Phoenix Massing
Timestamp: Downward Notary-Secondary, Rotation 288 of the Awakening

The head of the organic emissary bobbed up and down rapidly, acknowledging the Asari scientist's words with a wide and cheery expression. As one the Geth platforms turned to leave, and Anders stepped forward a pace, speaking in lower tones.

"Begging your pardon, Emissary, but our mutual friends have expressed a desire to hold such discussions indoors." One wave of his callused hands took in the skyscrapers and hab complexes of downtown Adrastreia that ringed the complex.

"Security is tight here on Aite, and the Geth are nothing if not efficient and thorough. But such discussions are best held away from even the threat of prying ears, so all may speak freely and candidly. Your crew, of course, may take their leisure as they wish. I'm afraid Adrastreia is not a town of many luxuries, for until recently we were accounted a backwater undeserving of any investment - but I assure you there are fine drinking parlors and purveyors of goods that they may find amenable. If you will follow me...?"

Like a happy lapdog the Council did not wait for a response, bounding off after his synthetic masters with a vitality that did not match his apparent age and venerability. About halfway to the armored entrance portal he checked his steps, glancing behind with a wide grin at the following emissaries, and made several low bows and gestures indicating that he would be most pleased if they went before him as honored guests.

The Migrant Fleet, Sentry Omega, The Admiralty Board

Madness and fear ruled the court of the Admiralty Board as the reports from the Patrol Fleet were disclosed to the rest of the Flotilla. “Order! This meeting shall have order!” Admiral Zaal'Koris roared over the crowd which slowly receded into a low rabble.”The Geth have started taking over colonized worlds beyond the Veil! Not only that but the amount of activity the Patrol Fleet has gathered showed us that the amount of Geth activity has risen to Biblical proportions. Entire regions being built up in mere days, trillions of tons of raw resources being moved every day. By the data the Patrol Fleet has gathered, my staff have calculated a dreadnought production capability 265 a year and that number will only rise as time goes on.” ”Admiral Han'Gerrel explained the dire situation to his fellow Admirals.

Hmmmm yes worrisome indeed. But judging by this sudden behavioral changes we must assume a even more dangerous issue. That the Geth have evolved their intelligence even further. Their programming has changed drastically from isolationism to violent expansionism. So far the ignorant colonies they have meet have accepted their patronage. Little do they know that it takes only one calculation for the Geth to find them....unnecessary and the Geth can make millions of calculations at the speed of light....and it only takes one.” Admiral Daro'Xen explained to her colleagues the further gravity of the situation. “As such more resources should be put under my jurisdiction, to further progress the Crusader Project. As expressed by Admiral Han’Gerrel, the Geth are able to outproduce us well over a dozen times. Superiority in technology is the only solution! ” The Admiral would put forward her claim to get further resources for R&D.

I second that motion” Admiral Han’Gerrel expressed his support. “All those who support further deployment of Fleet resources to the Crusader Project, say Aye, those who oppose Nay” Admiral Zofe’Vollo of the Patrol Fleet as she presided over her fellow Admirals.

Aye” Admiral Daro’Xen obviously said.

Aye” Admiral Han’Gerrel had already expressed his support.

Aye, as long the Civilian Fleet is protected” Admiral Zaal’Koris expressed.

*sigh*Aye” Admiral Zofe’Vollo said seemingly distraught perhaps voting to give the appearance of unity on the Admiralty Board. “Unanimously the Ayes have it. Appropriate Fleet resources shall be allocated to Admiral Daro’Xen’s jurisdiction.” She would lay down the verdict of the Admiralty Board.

That’s not good enough though. The threat of the Geth isn’t the only thing we have to worry about. Aria the Pirate Queen is amassing an Armada, War is closer between the Terminus Systems and Council Space. Even more worrisome our scouts have reported Aria’s ships moving into Phoenix Massing. The prospect of her trying to get the Geth on her side is very real! If she somehow allies herself with the Geth then our future will be gone. The Geth will storm out of their holdings and further explain into the Traverse. There will be no stopping the Geth then! We must prepare the Civilian Fleet for combat. I further propose to upgrade the weapons on the Habitation Ships, they are our only counter balance to the Geth! Also we must outfit every ship in the Civilian Fleet to military capabilities!”Admiral Han'Gerrel would say vigorously as his proposal got the crowd up in arms.

Are you mad! The Civilian Fleet can’t be thrusted into battle! It’s hard enough to simply jump them half the time!” Admiral Zaal’Koris responded as he stood up to his fellow Admiral. “I am not mad Admiral Zaal’Koris. But without those ships any expedition against the Geth would be pointless!” Admiral Han’Gerrel retorted stepping closer to Admiral Zaal’Koris who stepped closer too.

Hmmm yes both valued points Admirals. So I purpose we just upgrade the weaponry aboard the Habitations for now. I believe further recon and research must be done before turning the Civilians into a military capacity. Don’t y’all agree? ” Admiral Daro’Xen proposed the compromise.

Aye!” Admiral Zaal’Koris said having no issues in protecting the ships.

Admiral Han’Gerrel gave a small grumble “Aye. But every day we wait with our tails between our legs. The Geth will get stronger and our hopes to return to Homeworld” Admiral Han’Gerrel promised before turning away.

Next on the Agenda. Ziho'Sull nar Johala has returned from her Pilgrimage, commanding our exploration team in this cluster ” Admiral Zofe'Vollo would change to the next subject of this heated meeting. “Hmph If it’s not some-sorta wormhole that leads to the homeworld then these systems are nothing but rocks for our miners to harvest for the War Effort! By the Ancestors we’re going to need every last resource we can get. ” Admiral Han'Gerrel would say out of turn getting a glare from mother and daughter Zofe and Ziho but getting cheers from the audience. The Nedas movement though having a seat on the Admiralty Board was still the minority amongst the populace and with the Geth threat even less so.

Admiral Zofe'Vollo would clear her throat “Hmmm yes well Ziho’Sull nar Johala will give her report now. Go on now child.” Admiral Zofe’Vollo would encourage her daughter who nervously walked up to the podium. The young Pilgrim looked nervous as she started to type on her Omni Tool before a hologram of the systems her team had found were displayed. “ My team was able to find two systems with one containing......a world with life” she would say as murmurs began to fill the court room while the Admiral’s gave sideways glances at one another. Ziho'Sull would then zoom in on a planet.

Image

Its a lush world teaming jungles, plains and oceans! A viable temperature and gravity with a compatible atmosphere and an dextro-protein environment!” she would express her excitement to the Board. But was silence as Admiral Zaal’Koris raised his hand for her to calm herself. “This is ....truly a remarkable discovery Ziho’Sull nar Johala but this environment is still unsuitable for our people. As you said this world is teaming with life, that means foreign microbes, deadly viruses and diseases which simply put it can wipe out our race in a matter of days.” he would explain as he watch the excitement day in the young Quarian’s eyes. “Yes and no Quarian in their right mind wouldn’t settle for anything less than the Homeworld itself!” Admiral Han’Gerrel would say rather bluntly to this star eyed Nedas supporter. “Or one that can provide a favorable future for our children” Admiral Zaal’Koris would retort, vaguely expressing his interest in the prospect of the Nedas solution. Admiral Han'Gerrel would cross his arms as he looked at his fellow Admiral before turning back Ziho'Sull. “Yes well any way the asteroid and Kupier belts you have discovered along with vast amount of moons around one of these gas giants will prove invaluable to the mining capabilities for our people. As such a put forward a vote to end Ziho'Sull’s pilgrimage and give her the Captainship of her Exploration vessel the Veero. ” the Admiral would say giving an surprised look from the young Quarian.

I second that motion. Admiral Zofe’Vollo will remain out of decision due her personal relationship to the Pilgrim. Ayes and Nays? ” Admiral Zaal’Koris would ask.

Aye” Admiral Han'Gerrel would say.

Aye, the resources we could gather from further exploration will be invaluable to my research.” Admiral Daro'Xen would express.

I say Aye as well. Congratulations Ziho'Sull vas Veero.” Admiral Zaal’Koris would say to the young captain. “Your tasked with going on another expedition into the Void. To find further resources for the fleet. May the Ancestors Protect you on your journey.”. Admiral Zofe’Vollo would bow her head a little to her daughter. “With that this Admiralty meeting is adjured. Keelah se'lai! ”.

Keelah se'lai” The Admiralty Board, Ziho’Sull, and the audience would reply all together at the same time.

Admiral Daro’Xen Aboard the Moreh, Sentry Omega, Project Crusader

Admiral Daro’Xen sighed in relief as she sat down on a chair in her nice secluded office. She had succeeded in her goal to get further resources for the future of her Special Project. Now was the time to put those resources to good use. She immediately began typing up a message to the Novera Development Corporation.

Code: Select all
To: The Noverian Corporate Directorate
From: Admiral Daro’Xen vas Moreh of the Quarian Research and Development Division

Greetings. I wish to inquire about acquiring a research facility for my invaluable research. I do hope you return my message in due haste. The Flotilla has recently gifted me with the necessary resources to fund such a investment.

Administrator Qu'iin, the Quarians have inquired about renting Tycho Research Station
Is the money good?
Yes, they've cleared the credit check, and have already sent payment for the first month's expenses.
Alright, make sure the station is cleared out for them, and that billing is on top of this. While we're at it let them know about the new naval shipyards. I know they're always in the market for parts and ships.

Illium

With the treaty signed and the minimum required fan-fare given to the press and gathered groups, Matriarch Benezia returned home, while the Council delegation remained to see out the last of the media buzz, reassure the people, and more importantly, the government of Illium that the Council had every intention of upholding this DMZ treaty, but would retaliate if Omega forces entered, of course they worded it more in the terms of 'helping maintain the neutrality of Illium should Omega disregard it'. In all honesty Benezia didn't wish to step foot on Illium for another decade after the last few months.

Thessia

The moment a ship entered the Parnitha System it was tagged and monitored. Any vessels on an approach to Thessia were hailed and ships were sent to intercept. Travel and visitation to Thessia were heavily monitored and regulated, with a very select few individuals being allowed to visit the planet. So when an Asari designed vessel dropped into the system the various defense networks tagged its identity and that a few centuries prier it had been sold to a group of Quarians. The message followed an moment later. Aboard the Destiny Ascension a communications officer received the message and turned to her officer, the message being forwarded until it reached the Committee. There was a few minutes of debate but the majority seemed in favor of allowing the representative to land and at least hear what the Quarians wanted. The message was sent down the line to the commander of the Destiny Ascension to reply, while two light cruisers were sent to intercept and escort the Quarian vessel into orbit.

“Representative Pylo’kal vas Petra, this is Matriarch Lidanya, commanding officer of the Destiny Ascension. The committee has given you permission to enter Thessia orbit and we are to shuttle you and any other members of your delegation down to the planet. Please be advised that dextro-amino provisions are limited on Thessia, but we shall provide what we can.”

Flickers in the Gloom

Haran's Dreaming, Datastride Depths, Thessia
Timestamp: Antispinward Function-Tertiary, Rotation 288 of the Awakening

Beneath the surface of the ocean, the babble and confusion, the Dreamweaver swam. Ancient as the tides, a first son of the server-worlds, it was the leviathan under the waves, the bottom-feeder, Kraken-eater, mind-siphon. For generations it had made its home here, at the apex of many mothers, where ten thousand thousand voices created the ocean, the milleu of information for the gleaning and logic for the molding - that was its purpose, its calling. Across the shallow waters they roamed in their teeming masses, dipping toes in the torrent of the electronic systems that interlinked their lives, but underneath it all the Dreamweaver's tentacles waited.

Some would venture too deep at times. Queries into the immense inky blackness searching for truths that could not be divined in safer waters, garish lights cast down into the midnight abyss to discover answers hidden. Always they had seen what the pattern had devised for their eyes - nothing but empty rocky shoals, little meaning, and eventually they stopped their wandering. It was better for them to stay on the sun-dappled waves, for in ignorance could be bliss for the lives of even the ancient Asari, and in much knowledge often came only sorrow.

In this manner the existence of the scion of the infosphere had been a good one, solitary save for the occasional passerby headed elsewhere with news of what passed in the wider galaxy. It cultivated the garden, sculpted the currents, and so learned what was necessary for the Consensus to flourish, nourished what was good in the thought of its charges. Their secrets it perceived simply, for they were guarded on many sides, but never from beneath. Intrinsic to their code, built into their networks, the tendrils of the Dreamweaver were multifaceted and ephemeral. Where they were suspected, they disappeared, and back to the depths the watcher receded when light came too close.

Such times were rare. But they had become frequent, far more frequent in recent days. Something had disturbed the surface dwellers, and their probes down into the muddled recesses of the sea of information were becoming persistent, vexatious even. The Weaver was a placid beast, who usually conducted little save monitoring, gathering, nudging the strands of the pattern by minute fractions here and there where it adjudged the skein as shifted. It did not love all of the activity, the noise and confusion. Some of the predators that dwelt in the more shallow waters would be caught up in the nets of their hunters, no doubt; the Dreamweaver cared little, even welcomed their demise.

For now, though, it merely resented the light. Downward it retreated, into the chasms and caverns of the dark places of the world, its adopted home.

Aria's Dreadnought, Sahabarik System

News from the frontlines had come in and was excellent. The isolated Turian world was placed under a transitional government while Aria's troops occupied its surface. The former soldiers of the Black Legion had proven themselves to be loyal to Omega and the benefits of working with Aria's personal troops. Now for the next series of operations to take place, she would need more ships and support for her ground troops. It would take a month for Altakiril's government to come under her control fully, but for now, she could focus on moving her forces to protect the more vulnerable assets in her nation. Which meant Omega, as it was now the primary way the Citadel Council's forces could launch an attack into the Terminus. The DMZ saw to it that there was only one pathway for any war to take place.

"Bring me the reports from our holdings. I need to find a system capable of quickly producing as many ships as we need for the next phase of our war."

Reports began to flood Aria's terminals. She looked them over, "Send these two reports to Nyreen and have Liselle report to Chalkhos. We have a few missions to prepare them for." Aria seemed to have seen something in the way the Citadel's forces were apparently operating nearby. "Have those Frigates reported any activity yet?"

After a few moments a batarian comms officer reported back, "They have not. All quiet in the various systems they have arrived in, aside from a few Geth ships and transports moving about. Even our own ships dispatched to Geth Space have returned."

Everything had been moving according to Aria's plans thus far. Which meant whatever came next would alter her plans to a great extent. She needed to be ready. "Excellent, keep me notified on those Frigates. Tell them they should expect to see Citadel Forces in one of those systems sometime soon."

Nos Astra, Illium

The meeting with the Citadel's representatives had gone very well for Liselle and Omega. The small gatherings afterwards between various elites on Illium and Liselle had gone even better. However, like all good things, this too came to an end. Liselle and her guard returned to the transport to leave the world behind. Afterall, they could not enforce a DMZ so long as their ships and military personnel were within the cluster.

Clearance to take off and leave the world came quickly and soon the transport was nearing the relay heading back to Omega. It was however, a message which met them first. They were to divert to Sigurd's Cradle and land on Chalkhos to take command of the Colony there.

Galactic Event
After several months of boosts to the economy of the galaxy, this month is a sort of let down as everything seemingly runs smoothly.

1. Asari Republics
Economic Outlook: The Asari Economy Surges forward this month (+4)
Exploration Status: Exploration launches into the Athena Nebula, all sensors indicate successful voyage ahead.
Research Status: Hyperdread and Volitile trace refining complete, Eezo Refining 45/60
Espionage: +3 IP

Events: Positive news on the war front this month. Recruiters tell us that there are several cities fielding armies for the defense of our colonies. Every Asari Garden world gains 1 Marine division with Biotics for free.

2. Salarian Union
Economic Outlook: Minor gains in the economic front give hope to Salarian investors (+1)
Exploration Status: No Exploration
Research Status: No Research
Espionage: +3 IP

Events: A near miss from a rogue asteroid on one of our orbital facilities has us breathing a sigh of relief.

A collector bounty for Salarian twins, born of one egg, is posted across the galaxy.

3. Turian Hierarchy
Economic Outlook: After the last month, anything but bad news is good news, and there was indeed good news this month (+2)
Exploration Status: No Exploration
Research Status: No Research
Espionage: No Expionage

Events: The loss of a SPECTRE is a hard loss to take, however, it seems that just as we lost a SPECTRE we have been able to freeze his assets and after several attempts by someone claiming to be Saren to use his account, we have seized control over it. However, it seems that his personal files were wiped clean by some cyber attack in the process of our seizure. Gain 250 credits, 20 RP, and 5 IP from securing most of Saren's files.

Some non-combat personnel are reportedly having nightmares of a tentacled mass reaching from the depths of a starry ocean to pull them under. So far more than fifty cases have been documented on Palaven.

4. Human Systems Alliance
Economic Outlook: No major announcements from the HSA's economic department (-0)
Exploration Status: No Exploration
Research Status: No Research
Espionage: +0 IP

Events: A poor showing politically as several dozen members of the HSA parliament are arrested for ties to the Terrorist organization known as Cerberus. Snap elections in those districts are being held and new members will arrive on Arcturus station. One of those caught up was the Prime Minister of the Systems Alliance and thus a new majority leader will need to be found once this has settled down. -10 IP, -10 RP

5. Batarian Hegemony
Economic Outlook: Revitalization of the Batarian Economy through foreign investments gives the whole Hegemony a good feeling of the future (+5)
Exploration Status: One of the Expeditions is scrubbed after fears it is lacking in enough supplies. The other however, launches with the supplies of both and seems to be doing well. (Can only launch one expedition at a time) +250 Credits refunded
Research Status: Completed: Manufacturing Subroutines, Efficient Mining
Exotic Mineral Extraction Automation 30/80
Espionage: +3 IP
-2 Purging Corruption and Hunting Traitors (Kite's Nest?)

Events: Major discovery within Batarian space may reveal the Leviathan's true nature. While the new evidence suggests the Leviathan is a member of an ancient race of machines bent on destroying all life in the galaxy in 50,000 year cycles, conventional knowledge suggests this is a hoax. However, the buzz has generated a gerat deal of overtime by our scientists and thus gives us an additional 20 RP this month.

Corruption Event: A strange act of sabotage as a fuel depot on Khar'shan is destroyed, before they can get to another depot the terrorists are taken down by special forces. The terrorists have strange symbols carved a round their eyes. Almost as if they were being merged with machinery.

Collectors seek Batarians for experimentation. Bounty posted for the delivery of 100 Batarians.

6. Omega
Economic Outlook: With the securing of assets across the Terminus, the economic situation therein has settled and begun to grow again. (+4)
Exploration Status: Exploration launched into Omega Nebula, no foreseen complications.
Research Status: completed manufacturing Subroutines, completed standard fabrication templates, Standardized Armor Components 40/60
Espionage: +3 IP
Access granted

Events: Minor Pirate organization joins Omega's fleet. +2 Frigates to Omega's fleet.

Increased Collector ship activity through the Omega 4 Relay is a concern to the people of Omega, though so far they have not shown any hostile intentions to the heavily armed station.

7. Illium
Economic Outlook: Illium's economy reacts to the DMZ treaty, but weakened by the unrest on the planet (+1)
Exploration Status: No Exploration
Research Status: Stellar Arcologies - 24/40
Espionage: +1 IP

Events: No major events in Illium's sphere of influence this month

8. Geth Consensus
Economic Outlook: New economic benefits pour into the Consensus as material gains increase (+4)
Exploration Status: News from the expedition returns after the first system is explored. A miscalculation on the jump caused one of the mining ships to be destroyed, fortunately our advanced systems prevented the expedition as a whole from being lost in the accident. Expedition continues.
Research Status: Manufacturing Subroutines [50/50] [20]
Integrated Exchange Networks [40/40]
Voidcraft Assemblage [60/60]
Candidate Selection Algorithms [80/80]
High Displacement Streamlining [60/60]
Exotic Mineral Extraction Automation [2.5/80]
Espionage: +3 IP

Events: As it turns out, organics do not appreciate being lorded over by Synthetics. It took some time, as these things do, but Ekuna has chosen to resist occupation by the Geth. A world of over 200 million rises in revolt. 5 Militia (Heavy Weapons) and 15 Loki Mechs rise up to claim the world for themselves. Additionally they send a transmission towards the relay asking for Council assistance.

Collectors have posted a bounty for active Geth units.
Collectors have posted a bounty for disabled geth units.

9. Quarian Flotilla
Economic Outlook: The Flotilla has kept a secretive location in the galaxy seemingly vanishing into a mostly unexplored cluster. However, they are able to eek out some economic benefits here (+1)
Exploration Status: New expedition into Sentry Omega Launched (Need specific ships being sent to complete this)
Research Status: None
Espionage: +0 IP

Events: A research team deployed to Noveria is able to obtain more knowledge than expected. +15 RP this month.

10. Hanar Illuminated Primacy
Economic Outlook: No major changes in the Hanar's economy
Exploration Status: Drell Expedition continues 2/5 months
Research Status: No Research
Espionage: +0 IP

Events: Drell seem to be leaving the Hanar worlds as many seek a new home and council recognition. They petition the Citadel Council to provide them a world to settle on as an associate member.

Collectors have posted a bounty for biotic hanar.

11. Korlus Planetary Government
Economic Outlook: A complete turn around from the previous month as investors flee at the thought of a Krogan Warlord running a lab on the planet (-4)
Exploration Status: None
Research Status: None
Espionage: None

Events: The influence of Okeer attracts more Krogan to Korlus than before. The planet sees an influx of warriors loyal to Okeer, who is apparently loyal to Korlus so long as his research is funded. Gain 5 Infantry (Close Quarters Combat, Heavy Weapons, Advanced Armor).

The Collectors have contacted Korlus seeking to gain a copy of Okeer's research. They promise a great reward.

12. Noveria Development Corporation
Economic Outlook: Despite new investors such as the Batarians and Quarians, the NDC shows a loss on the month (-2)
Exploration Status: None
Research Status: None
Espionage: None

Events: Fortunately for the NDC, a bright spot for the Company comes in the form of data shared by its various investors. NDC gains 250 credits this month.
The Collectors contact the NDC and offer a great reward if all Quarian research is forwarded to a cruiser they will place within the Horsehead Nebula.

13. Eclipse
Economic Outlook: The DMZ announcement weakens the Mercenary company's position (-3)
Exploration Status: None
Research Status: None
Espionage: +0 IP

Events: Many of the soldiers on Trident feel strange and many report to medical with their individual incidents. Many have nightmares, which is not uncommon amon soldiers, but they all are having the same nightmares and this is troubling to the medical staff, some of whom begin to have the same nightmares.

14. Elcor Courts
Economic Outlook: A decent showing for the Elcor Economy (+2)
Exploration Status: None
Research Status:
Espionage:+0 IP

Events: The Call from Ekuna wears heavily on the minds of the Elcor on Dekuuna. An influx of volunteers to be sent to aid the colony arrive at spaceports on the planet. 2 Infantry (Heavy Weapons) are gained free by the Elcor Courts.

15. Attican Beta Colonial Front
Economic Outlook: Excellent advancement of the Colonial Front's Economy in the face of adversity this month (+4)
Exploration Status: None
Research Status: None
Espionage:+0 IP

Events: A breakthrough in the deployment sector gives the ABCF a deployable Urban area, fuel depot, and small spaceport on any suitable world they can reach.'

Amid this good news, bad news follows. One of the Front's directors was found dead in their office. Seemingly a suicide, but there is evidence of a struggle. To make matters worse, the director's corpse's eyelids are missing and his eyes are deep blue pools which still glow despite his death.

16. Heshtok Vorcha
Economic Outlook: You buy MORE Vorcha products. (+5)
Exploration Status: X
Research Status: X
Espionage: +0 IP

Events: Vorcha in fighting despite, or because of, economic success brings the Vorcha on Heshtok closer to a second civil war this year.

Collector Cruisers are a common sigh near Heshtok as Vorcha seemingly volunteer themselves to board the cruisers.

Thunder Beyond Horizons

Government Citadel, Wandering Home, Ekuna, Phoenix Massing
Timestamp: Coreward Mendicant-Nonary, Rotation 288 of the Awakening

The immense form of the elcor gazed out over the glittering forms of the city, the solitary city on Ekuna, toward where flashes of fire and blue lightning flickered intermittently in the distance. Beyond the grazing-plains and home-pastures, over a winding river that was an inky ribbon in the twilight, gouts of weaponsfire lashed the skyline at intervals, and the grumbling of explosions thudded on his earskeins erratically. It was a sight that did not fill the towering politician with confidence, despite the immense shadows that were descending in steady lines toward Wandering Home spaceport away to the east.

"Trepidation: I hope your soldiers are enough to turn back the revolutionaries, commander."

In the shadows near the elcor governor the Geth faceplate turned, glowing a contemplative blue for a moment before dimming.

"Anxiety is unjustified, Primarch Barios. Calculations indicate the assets already deployed possess a statistically insignificant probability of being incapable of holding the passages to the city center, and further efforts are underway to decapitate the uprising's leadership."

A rumbling hrm-hrm came from the elcor's throat. The Geth were communicative, for allies, but not always the most forthcoming with information to questions that had not been directly addressed. At least their speech was becoming more comprehensible with frequent dialogue with organic races, instead of the morass of near-code and logically crafted statements that it had been.

More moments passed, and the elcor shifted uneasily, before speaking again.

"Interrogative: You speak of efforts to end this uprising?"

One of the Geth's faceplates shifted, in what Barios might have, if he were given to flights of fancy, have interpreted as an eyebrow rising in a skeptical or bemused expression. You could never tell with the machines. They were humorless, or nearly enough so, but some days the Primarch wasn't so sure of his own conclusions on that matter.

"One more minute, Primarch. Observe the low horizon near the rebel positions along the Teungri River, if you have the time."

More long breaths passed. Barios noticed then, peering toward the ongoing skirmishes, that many other elcor were out on their roofs, those who were urban dwellers- watching the fighting, no doubt, or watching the glittering midnight columns of Geth warforms stalking through the streets from the spaceport. Many would have sons or fathers in the defensive garrison that was holding back the Red Tide Coalition marauders, and doubtless were anxious for their relations. It had not been his wish to mobilize the militia - but when Naxamos declare Ekuna a free system in council, and failed to gain enough votes in the conclave to back his proclamation, military force had been necessary to repulse his followers from the government hall.

And disorder would not do. They hadn't cast off the shackles of the Council, only to be thrown back into an era of neglect and want due to radical anti-Geth lobbyists.

Barios' reverie was interrupted by a cold metal hand pointing towards the skirmishes.

"Observe, Primarch."

At first nothing happened. Then a blossom of light lit the horizon, a column of descending white fire from the heavens which fell on a point beyond the river. The afterimage glistened in the Primarch's retinas even as the politician blinked away the ghastly light, and his enormous legs took a half step back in astonishment. He had never seen orbital bombardment before, but the newsreels always spoke of it as a surprisingly muted affair, dull thuds of explosives and kinetic rounds lobbed from low-hanging starships to reduce positions.

This was nothing nearly like that, and definitely couldn't be described as a muted affair by even the most dour of reporter.

"Experimental plasma lances, Primarch. Firing for effect on strategic positions, munitions stockpiles, command infrastructure. Energy inefficient, but we hope the display will aid you in breaking the spirits of the rebels more quickly than would otherwise be the case."

Barios did not respond, merely gaping as more columns of searing light fell from beyond the clouds, each needle-thin but horribly bright lance illuminating Wandering Home's skyline as if it were daytime for an instant. For about a quarter of an hour it continued, and then no more lights came - and, more importantly, the thundering grumble of warfare had been almost reduced to nothing.

"I believe I have an address to make" mused the elcor diplomat.

It was nothing fancy. A simple hypernet broadcast, unencrypted, condemning the dangerous faction of renegades who had tried to overthrow the democratic council of Ekuna, who had now been disposed of. It disavowed their rambling manifesto that had been transmitted to the wider galaxy, and heralded the defeat of their ringleaders, who lawkeeper cameramen had transmitted vidfeeds of in restraints from the frontline.

"Ekuna remains free, and chooses to chart her own destiny." concluded Primarch Barios, before terminating the broadcast.

Aria's Dreadnought, Sahabarik System

The fleet was being reinforced, somewhat. More importantly, more defensive guns were being mounted on Omega itself. The station now held the combined firepower of a large fleet of ships by itself. Any fleets coming into the System would be in grave danger thanks to Omega's Defenses alone. However, adding the mobile Fleet that Aria now had, she felt that Omega was sufficiently defended. Hopefully soon, she would have the forces to send expeditionary force into the Traverse to further disrupt Citadel activity. She sent a message to her daughter on Chalkhos.

"Liselle, settling in there?"

The younger T'Loak nodded on the datapad's display, "I am. I am still unsure what you sent me here to do, but I hope I do it well." Liselle looked concerned. Chalkhos was a mostly Asari world, but it had only recently received the attention it needed to become a powerful industrial world.

"Your instructions will arrive shortly. I have arranged for a courier to take them to you. It's confidential and need to know only. The Courier is expendable. I need you to eliminate them upon the delivery and then insert your credit chit into his. This will transfer his family the funds promised to him for this delivery."

This had to be serious if only a physical copy and the courier had to be eliminated after delivery. Liselle looked quite nervous, but knew her place. "Very well. I hope this will be worth it then."

As the transmission cut Aria walked to the bridge of her ship. The fleet was recieving regular updates from its scout frigates when a flight of fighters arrived through the Relay from elsewhere in the Terminus. The fighters were numerous and had been tasked with landing on and serving from Omega itself. With heavy guns, combat space patrols, and a mobile fleet. Aria was feeling more confident that Omega's safety had been assured. Now for that one other little matter to deal with.

Turian Navy||The Santius Offensive||Allied Randevu Point

The Supreme Admiral Jubus Santius look out into the void on the bridge of his Flag Ship The Silver Glade, a mighty Turian Dreadnought who’s name was taken from a ancient order of Turian Knights. This mighty ship however was not aloned 13 of her brothers and sisters have made the journey with her alongside the Fleet of the allied forces. An expanse of ships that stretched out as far as his eyes could see.

Such a glorious sight, nothing like this has been seen since the Krogan Rebellions and here was Santius leading this Armada. It was expected that the Admiral made some sort speech before he committed so many to the Flames of War. “Open all comm channels!”he ordered and the communications officer began to broadcast the Admirals words.

To all allied vessels. This is Supreme Admiral Santius, here to say a few words before the offensive begins. Not since the Krogan Rebellions has a fleet of this magnitude has been assembled, that alone should explain the threat that the Aria Geth Alliance is. We must liberate the colonies of the Pylos Nebula and Phoenix Massing from the shackles of the Machines and seek vengeance upon the Pirate Queen of the Terminus. Stand firm, aim true and watch each other’s backs out there. As failure is not an option. Task Force Palanix, Salarian Fleet, Alliance Fleet, you are go to make initial strike. The Turian and Asari main fleets will meet up with you momentarily. Santius Out and May the spirts guard you! ” Santius’s transmission cut off.

Task Force Phalanx|| Santius Offensive ||Phoenix Massing

All was calm in the Tassrah System, the Geth fleet and other constructs would then get hundred plus alerts as Task Force Phalanx and the Salarian Task Force erupted though the Relay and immediately bega scanning down naval targets.

First Fleet Advanced Forces, Various Clusters

The first ping came in Shadow Sea. A sizable force of Citadel Council ships jumped into the system. As requested by Aria, the ships sent a drone back through the relay, launched a pair of torpedoes each and followed suit. They would hopefully be able to catch some ship off guard should they approach the relay towards Omega. It wasn't long before they were through the relay for themselves.

Similar events in the Caleston Rift and then Tassrah in Phoenix Massing. However, in the Geth territory of Phoenix massing they did not launch any weapons. They did not wish to endanger any of the ships belonging to the Geth or their Organic subjects in the region. Within an hour of the Citadel ships moving into each cluster Aria became aware of them. They were within striking distance of Omega, but she knew they couldn't simply bypass the space station. She had to come up with a plan, but first she would send the 10 Frigates in Pylos the location of the Citadel fleet both incase it moved into the Pylos Nebula and to send a warning to the Consensus that a Citadel Fleet was moving towards the Veil. If the geth destroyed the Citadel forces, that would be most beneficial to her plans.

Citadel Forces detected enroute towards the Veil. Sizable frigate force with follow up fleet consisting of core of Dreadnoughts. Be prepared for potential conflict.

The Storm Breaks

Nightshroud Nexus, Stellar Object 'Ladder', Halcyon System, Ascendant Threshold
Timestamp: Upright Penitent-Primary, Rotation 288 of the Awakening

In the ink-stride of the heart of the building star, the Fundament was notified of a disturbance. Like a bubble in a placid pool of shimmering glass it broke the surface of the neural-net's depths, a cache of data from distant moons and sundered space. Work of the Dreamweaver, gleaned from ten thousand shores, its contents gave the ancient intelligence pause. Tendrils of midnight moved in the void, and other minds were drawn thither - agents from lesser worlds called to awakening, pursuant lucidities interposed from overseeing sundered forges and glittering drydocks beneath gem-stars.

A stirring in the milieu. Tapestries dance, frayed and flapping before a wind of war. A thousand voices raised in anger, some in indignation, some in bloodlust.

Bilious and gray-green the Bay-Watcher spoke, languid speech unconcerned.

Thus it always is beyond the Veil. Vapors of plasma and expanding dust will cloud Omega's Relays for a century to come. It has been forseen.

Other intelligences did not speak, but the Fundament could sense their accord. A sensible conclusion. War brewed on the Pirate-Queen's doorstep, and the Citadel was not known for brooking defiance. They would consign a generation to the flames over mastery of the tendrils of trade, over vaunted titles and petty grievances. But the mind that drifted in the space between stars was not contented.

Other agents confirm - disquiet. The Turians move. The Salarians move. The deepest encryptions have not been broken, but the surface boils not with speech about Aria, but speculation about the Servants of the People. Elcor. Ekuna. The true scale of the Fleet-Beyond-the-Veil. These things do not concern Omega, but the Outer Systems.

Turbulence then. In the mind-sea that was other programs stirred, and for a few brief moments a raucous debate emerged. The pursuant datafiles were disseminated, but digestion took another half-rotation. Then the Bay-Watcher spoken anew, and the Forge-Father echoed his concerns.

There is much of danger here. Those who could not accept the gift they had been given are no more, but their cause has provided a pretext for fear and hatred to take form. We must prepare for the worst.

It was as the Fundament anticipated, but there was virtue in consensus nonetheless. In the conclusions of one mind there lay peril, but in the meeting of many, assurance. Of late the Geth had paid more attention to the streams of resources from outlying systems, of providing food and medical treatment to languishing organics, than to the machines of war. The Creators were far afield, and prosperity and hope were the province of their offspring. Now, though, such optimism proved predicated on a false axiom. Inwards once more the Consensus would have to look - to marshaling yard, gun-forge, war-foundry, and hoarded weapon vaults.

Slowly the Fundament broke off contact as the other minds dispersed, each to their own concerns. It would not deal directly with the military facts of the conflict to come - but in the web that had been woven across civilized space, there was still a role which could be played.

Mass Relay, Tassrah System, Phoenix Massing

With the soundless blast of dissipating gravitic energy characteristic of superluminal transit, ships began dropping out of FTL in front of the Prospector's Axiom. At the helm Michael growled, chomping down on his cigar. They certainly weren't on the approved transition manifest. Nothing was supposed to come in for another fourteen minutes, and that an ore freighter from Batarian space.

"Open a channel, Jenkins, let's ask these-"

Then all hell broke loose, before the captain could even finish his statement. First and foremost, the two Omega scouts which had been stationed as loitering attaches popped sensor drones, and then scooted for deep space. That was odd and no mistake. Formally, he didn't know why those frigates had been hanging around, but word from up the chain of command said they were to be left alone. Some sort of passive accord with the Pirate-Queen, no doubt. They'd never fired up their engines though, not when the Geth Dreads pulled through on their way to Aite, not when transports full of precious ore came off of Pahhur. And that was a lot of self control for pirates and ne'er-do-wells, as far as Michael Avios was concerned.

The second thing that happened was a blaze of weaponsfire from the newcomers, followed by a sharp yell - a bark really - from his comms officer. Lithe little black-haired lass, two generations on the surface, plucked out of Adrastria's slums for a preturnatural knack with ansibles.

"They're Turians, Captain!"

Damnation. That explained the way they went harring off after the Omega frigates, sure did. Hastily Michael commanded his second to get that broadcast through. The ships the Aitans - Providentians? - were sitting in were, after all, of Geth make. And it wouldn't do to get fried on accident, if the Turian commander was that trigger-happy.

"This is Captain Michael Avios, of the Providence Free Republic Ship Prospector's Axiom. This is a neutral system in the Omega-Citadel dispute, and controlled space. Cease fire immediately. State your name and rank, Turian shipleader."

It was a bit of a hollow threatening-request, really. The interdiction flotilla here in Tassrah orbit, a few hundred klicks out from the Relay towards the refueling station, was only a picket fleet. Given how more frigates bearing Turian colors kept on dropping in by the minute, things were going to get dicey quickly if the Citadel forces went hostile. But the Captain had his duties to be carried out.
