There is a streetcar system on the island, so it would be easier then having to make, like, alot of filler on how your walking to your friends house.

Alright, so this island is probably in the Pacific given the presence of the Japanese soldier.

One bit of alternate history could be a change in how the Cold War is going, which would matter a lot in this time period. I have some ideas, which I'll try to write down soon.

So that would mean, combined with the 80's tech, japanese soldiers and such, I guess this would take place, lets be nice and say the mid 1970's, probably off the coast of Japan.

There's currently a Cold War going on, with Britain and America facing off against a fascist Italian Empire that controls most of the Mediterranean. In place of the Soviet Union are numerous smaller countries that resulted from the Russian Revolution.

Struggling economically since the end of WWII, Germany is under a mysterious far-right occultist government. Nobody sees them as a threat anymore, but this may be a mistake. Currently they're sending secret expeditions to various obscure parts of the world, looking for... something...

Definitely, I just need to think about what sort of character to make.

And now that I think about it, a regular cold war would probably make more sense. I'm probably overthinking things, given that this will be taking place on a single small island.

You said exactly what I was thinking. A normal cold war would be better, with maybe a tint of alternate history (maybe like Japan got replaced with a communist government, IDK).

Luciana Vespazzi, knien by Lucia to her friends, is the bartender and owner of the local pub, “Vespazzi’s”, named after her late parents. The 24 year old is the first and only child of Antoinette and Luca Vespazzi, Italian born immigrants originally from Napoli, whom moved to the Island 20 years ago to start a new life in a new place. Life started rough for the young couple and their young daughter, but over time, with plenty of hardwire, the family got up on their feet and were able to create that life they always wanted.

Then came the monsoon, which washed Luciana’s parents away when she was 15. Luciana quit school and took up full time work and ownership of her parents establishment. Over the next few years, the Pub fell in its reputation in the town, from a high class restaurant and bar, to its currrnt reputation of a gathering place for drunkards, sailors, and whores. Some of this, was, admittedly, Luciana fault. Whereas her late parents restricted certain types of people from frequenting their pub, Luciana let in all people, and encouraged their behavior by joining in their “fun”.

Now, the pub has a frequent group of people that inhabit it, some of which are sailors in and out of port, others, gamblers, and others are normal citizens, just looking for a drink and some company. In her free time, Luciana enjoys joining in on the gambling, going down to one of true islands many beaches and surfing, or meeting new people either at the docks, or in her pub. Throughout the town, she is known as very outspoken, confident, brutally honest, and more than a little bit cocky.

At the start, she’s at her pub, with 20$ of cash onhand, a pocketknife, and a dishrag.

She’s extremely extroverted, outgoing, loud, and confident, which is displayed in her daily routines at the pub, as she interacts with patrons. When she’s not working, she’s either gambling, surfing, or finding some new people to talk to.

At the start, she’s at her pub, with 20$ of cash onhand, a pocketknife, and a dishrag.

Height: Almost exactly six feet.
Age: Thought to be around fifty.
Species: Dhampyr

At first glance, Aldia simply appears to be a pale human, however, that is soon disproven by Aldia himself. Aldia is a Dhampyr, the union of human and vampire. In a time now seemingly lost to Aldia, he was a Nightingale, an assassin and saboteur under the service of a Dhampyr Lord. Whether his duty was to ambush, discretely kill, or some other duty, he carried it out without a word. One duty, and his last one before arriving on the island, was to assassinate his Lord's greatest rival. Of course, Aldia carried this duty out, but went a bit above his Lord's expectations. He poisoned drinks, caused some "accidents," and drew out the rival Lord. The Lord never expected a kukri to the nape of his neck, but that is where clarity ends, and Aldia's time on the island begins. Aldia's memory is fuzzy and uncertain of what happened next, only he remembers a distorted vision, a feeling of being gently pulled, and the smell of fresh air.

He awoke in a forested clearing, laying upon a bed of thick grass. None of his gear had been taken off, although his mask was a bit loose. Looking around he saw a basalt-black obelisk, at least around fifty feet in height. The surface of it is smooth, without a single mark or hewn edge. Looking around, he found his equipment in a neat pile nearby, untouched by the hands of another. Gathering his gear he set out across the forest, trying to make sense of what had happened. His memory failed him, he could not remember most of the circumstances surrounding why he was here, only basic fragments of his past and who he was. Further trekking and he came across a small village inhabited by humans, in a technological time unknown to him. Now, Aldia dwells within a cabin located between that village and the Obelisk. He is well-known by most inhabitants on the island, with many at least hearing his name.

Aldia is curious and intrigued by the unnatural or the interesting, mainly due to the circumstances surrounding his arrival. The cold war era technologies found within the village entice him particularly, and is often seen trying to barter or haggle for any sort of recorded information on this technology. Aldia isn't a conversation starter, but is perfectly fine to engage in a conversation that piques his interest or attention. He is quite invested into studying the Obelisk, and has devoted a good portion of his time to it. So far, he has found nothing and only formed unsupported theories. Few new about this, but Aldia does generally enjoy writing, and can be found writing either his own experiences in a Journal or devising some sort of fiction.

Aldia contains a number of Kukris, throwing knives, a garrote wire, and a relatively shortkatana-esque weapon. On his right gauntlet is an extendable blade that can be activated by a specific flick of his fingers, usually used in a pinch or during a close fight. The left hand's fingers have a set of sharp talons attached directly to the black cloth covering his body, also serving as a close-combat weapon. These talons are also present on his toes, serving the same purpose. Overall, his lightweight and minimal armor, combined with the black wrappings, bestows the image of a predator. The minimal armor does not protect from much, but allows him greater evasion and sneaking abilities.
