Parcian Colonial Union

Postby Nauchrtenfield » Sun Mar 24, 2019 3:46 am

Alitheia in SPAAAACCCEEE!!!

General Information

Official Nation Name: Parcian Colonial Union, Though most often referred to simply as "The Colonies."
Population: 31.2 Billion
Preferred Map Location: Sectors 19 and 35

Political Information

Governance Type: Representative Republic
Dominant Political Ideology: Democracy/Capitalism.

Military

Total Military Personnel: In Peace Time, the Union keeps, in Active Service, 780,000,000 Active Duty Personal Across all Branches of Service, Including the Auxiliary and Revenue Service. That's roughly 2.5 of its Total Population.
Historical Record of your race/Civilization:
The Union has its roots in a Collection of 6 stars, Aptly named "The Crescent Stars" named for their appearance in formation on a larger Galactic Map. Colonized by western Nations (the Old US, Canada, France and Japan respectively) as such, when the fires of Revolution Swept the Decayed UEF, the Crescent Stars were among the first to rebel, and the first to go to war over it. The Colonial Capital, Fortuna, Declared Succession and was promptly bombarded from Orbit by Several Federation Cruisers. It would take the Fledgling Colonial Military 5 years to retake the Crescent Stars and to force the Accords to be assigned.

In the 200 years since, the CU has been rebuilding, reforming. The Navy was expanded as more and more star Systems outside of the Crescent Star cluster Appealed and asked for Governance in the time since.

Now, the Colonial Union stands as a strong regional power Boarding the UEF, he Faeson, and several other Nations.

(Erase all words in parentheses when finishing app)
General Information

Official Nation Name: Nauchrten Hegemony
Population: 37 Billion Souls
Preferred Map Location: 17

Political Information

Governance Type: Typical Unitary Democracy
Dominant Political Ideology: Militaristic Social Democracy, kinda

Military

Total Military Personnel: 1% of the biological population serves in the military based on merit(ca 370 million souls) in all branches, however a large number of robotic frames "slaved" to a biological soldiers mind would be fielded in battle
Historical Record of your race/Civilization: The Nauchrten race(think Quarians from ME, but without the lack of a immune system) Springs from the the planet of Svarcho'n, generally a history allegorical to humanity until FTL was discoverer, and by extension; Humanity itself, who was first of the two has long been lost to time, but whoever it was, the other discovered it within the same decade. Fearing the humans steps where taken to unite under one government that stands to this day, this at the same time as the Nauchrten started to claim the stars. It's history is a rather bloody one, it's battles with the old United Earth Government many, and the fall of it did not go without controversy, as the Hegemony moved in to "protect" a few human inhabited worlds close to it's borders at the very start of the end. Granted that the past 200-odd years have been somewhat peaceful, barring the occasional border skirmish with the Cradle of Humanity. Generally they have tried to keep friendly relations with most "nations" but the scars of the past, and the threat of the old cradle of humanity means that they still posses a well trained and services fighting force, as will all jobs selected biased on merit(think the system used in Psyco-Pass), this force augmented with large forces of semi-autonomous droids(the physical looks of the Geth from ME)

General Information

Official Nation Name: Abr Networked Worlds
Population: 29.7 Billion.
Preferred Map Location: 15 - 16

Political Information

Governance Type: Futarchic Council
Dominant Political Ideology: Collective Futarchy

Military

Total Military Personnel: 742,500,000, roughly 2.5% of the Abr population.
Historical Record of your race/Civilization: (Home system: Nasc & Aesc with Beac in the center, Beac and it's captured asteroid moons, Homestar and Asteroid Disk with Nesi in the midst of it, the Homesystem as a whole) (Crude diagram of an Abr's biology made in MS Paint) The Abr are an aquatic silicone-based sentient species hailing from the Jovian moon of Nasc. They are also called Silics by a majority of the galactic community. Abr dwell within the oceans of their homeworld, and could generally live anywhere in the ocean. The Abr preferred the cold depths as it increased the conductivity of electricity in their brains, allowing higher neurological processes. They maneuvered through the water with their wire-like tentacles. The bulbous sensory organs which covered their bodies allowed them to detect vibrations, various forms of radiation, radio waves, and electrical currents. A small organ located in between the eight tentacles allows them to communicate with others of their kind via radio transmissions. To sustain themselves, the Abr utilize leaf-like organs which extend from the gaps between the sensory bulbs. These "feeding leaves" capture solar energy and small plankton-like creatures.

The Abr, in their cold computing state when in lower temperatures, realized the value that the surface of Nasc held for them. Already they had attempted to reach the surface and were able to gaze upon it, but they were unable to survive due to their weak skeletal structure. Many generations passed, and none still made it to the surface. Many more generations passed, and the Abr had developed a stronger skeletal structure which allowed them to survive on land. The atmosphere was much thinner than a world that would be considered habitable by other sentient lifeforms, but due to their silicoid nature they had no use for the mainly oxygen-based atmosphere. Abr societies took on a duality nature, one contingent of Abr would remain on the surface for it's resources, while the other contingent would remain in the cold depths of the oceans for the technological advancement of their race.

The main drive of Abr civilization was two things, metal and technology. The Abr were careful not to raze or scorch the earth of their opponents else they take the risk of harming the other's knowledge. It is due to this that much of the history of the Abr is in incredible condition. Metalworking was unable to be performed in their native oceans, further increasing the value on the surface. Religion always remained a minor force, for the cold undersea thinkers would always find some way to disprove the beliefs in a supernatural entity that created the world. Few religious institutions were able to gain power over the Abr and they usually never lasted very long. Abr civilization progressed as normal until the revolutionary day that they invented the radio transmitter. They themselves were able to transmit radio signals, but they never understood how they did it. When an inventor and biologist known as Irqs discovered the functions of the Abr radio organ, they found a way to artificially create them with machines.

The Abr Industrial revolution came to a start with Irqs discovery, and now that factories were producing everything they could need at an exponential rate, the Abr looked to the stars more than they had been before. They gazed upwards with grand mirrors, looking upon Aesc, Beac, and the grand asteroid disk that surrounded their sun. They would be colonized in the future, acting as the first steps for their path to becoming a major power in the galaxy. Many generations later, the information age had rolled in. And the Abr saw space as the last frontier to conquer. It would be a much greater period of time before they would unite into a world-spanning union, but that time was greatly cut short by the existence of a hostile asteroid inbound to their world. Few of these kinds of asteroids existed, but they would bring about mass-extinction level events. This one in particular was around five kilometers in length, and nearly four in width.

The ensuing mass panic resulted in what would originally become a temporary alliance. All of the greatest minds of Nasc were put to work to devise a way to launch a spacecraft that would detonate nuclear explosives in order to terminate the asteroid. When the solution for advanced chemical rockets was found, and the delivery mechanism for nuclear explosives worked out, resources from across the globe were donated to the cause. The hostile asteroid was destroyed, and the Abr could rest easily knowing that mass-extinction was no longer right around the corner. Many leading political, economic, and social leaders proposed that this would be an ideal time for a unification event. They were correct. The Abr transitioned into a Futarchic Council. From that point onwards it grew into a stable organization, putting down rebellions and insurgencies. Nasc was united, but Aesc, the Beac Objects, Beac itself, and newly discovered Nesi were the next to go.

A Von Neumman Probe was launched from the revolutionary orbital factory of Nasc, inbound on a course to Aesc. In the months it took for the probe to reach Aesc, the orbital infrastructure of Nasc greatly expanded. The probe landed on Aesc, it constructed a Communications Array to maintain contact with Nasc. In due time, a colony ship would arrive at Aesc, with the Probe having already constructed a decent base to build a colony upon. Aesc would then serve as a staging point for the further exploration and colonization of Beac and it's captured asteroid moons. The same Von Neumann Probe was launched beforehand, then the colony ship would come along to each of the four moons and deposit the colonists. Beac would remain uncolonized until the later discovery of anti-gravity systems. Even then, extensive colonization of Beac remained limited until advanced building methods were found.

The asteroid disk was the second-to-last colonized object in the home system. The Probe had to wait a much longer period of time before the colony ship would arrive, and by the time that it did arrive it had already secured a sizeable portion of territory in the belt for use by the Abr. Nesi was already marked by the probe, and thus, the Era of Colonization ended. The whole process had taken a total of nearly two-hundred years, due to the constraints of ship-speed, light lag, and population growth. By this point in time, the Abr fell into a period of prosperity, population growth, and technological advancement. However, the final frontier had not yet been conquered, and the Abr sought out more. The coldest minds of the Abr Networked Worlds developed the Aolt Drive, which would allowed faster-than-light travel between solar systems. From then on the Abr population would explode as the colonization spree erupted once again. Those days are long past now, the Abr Networked Worlds sits in the galaxy as a major power in the field. With the state of the Cradle of Humanity descending into worsened tensions, some factions wishing to knock mankind down a peg and a theoretical galactic mass-extinction event, the Abr must remain as vigilant as ever in a galaxy descending into chaos.

Player Information

RP Sample: The Abr exploration vessel exploded into a new solar system, heat rushing into the shields. Standard procedure as always, let the heat sink in, wait for it to cool, then move onwards into the system. Probes were launched from the spherical vessel's dotted launch tubes, covering more ground and gathering data over a large area. The main vessel, however, was interested not in the systems Oort cloud but in the gravitational anomaly detected in a relatively empty part of the binary solar system. No planets, spacecraft, dwarf planets or moons were seen by the ship's sensors. Strange. The vessel moved forward, pulled by a projected gravitational singularity. The sensors were going wild with the data streaming in from the anomaly. High metal content, heavy radiation, and the obvious gravitational fields. The Abr who captained the vessel was almost entranced by the find. There hadn't been a worthwhile anomaly in weeks, so this was a refreshing one. The captain lowered the temperature of their chamber for this, and alerted all other crewmembers to do the same.

"Interest. Possible mark of old race? Experimental gravitational spacetime device?"

In case of danger, the Probes always went first. Another probe was ejected from a launch tube and made a beeline to the anomaly ahead. Live data from the Probe streamed back to the Abr vessel as it continued on it's course. The Probe was nearing point of contact with the anomaly, and soon enough, the Abr were treated to an unexpected surprise. The gravitational fields dampened in a specific part of the anomaly, before being nullified completely. Then, an attracting force overpowered the probe and pulled it closer to the anomaly. The anomaly was confirmed to be a hexagonal station approximately half a kilometer in width and height. The probe was drawn into an entry port. The live connection with the probe stuttered slightly, but it did not give in. The probe continued on. The data feed revealed a cramped passageway out of the hangar that the probe had been pulled into. Moments later the probe opened into a vast computer room, databases worth of information stored within. The freezing temperatures would be perfect for any kind of silicoid lifeform. In the center of the room there was a computer which held a variety of stations for plugging in. The probe scanned them, then the built in nano-core adjusted it's computational connectors so that it would match the plug-in stations.

The probe connected, and the Abr vessel's database was awash with a wealth of information. The shipboard AI and it's Sub-Intelligences immediately went to work at sorting it out and organizing it. The anomaly was confirmed to contain the massive overview of now-extinct alien race, confirming the captain's original theory that it was indeed the mark of an old race. the overview contained history, biology, society, technology, culture, and their unfortunate extinction. This species had not been able to leave their solar system before being wiped out by an aggressive and unknown entity, likely a rogue self-replicating drone network. However, the old race had a self-replicating drone in storage that survived the sweeping attack of the hostile entities. It had limited resources at it's disposal and only a matter of time before it would give in to multiple system errors due to battle damage. It constructed this time capsule in hopes that, someday, an alien race would find it and preserve their memory. Despite how Abr did not usually feel heavy emotions, the captain was almost immediately saddened by the demise of this old race.

"Mourning. The Mark lived, the Creator died."

It signaled the location of this system and the identified anomaly to the Abr Networked Worlds before moving on to finish surveying the system, then warping to the next one.

General Information

Official Nation Name: Faeson Exostellar Unity
Population: 43.7 Billion
Preferred Map Location: Sectors 6 and 10

Political Information

Governance Type: Technocratic-Stratocratic Council, with planetary rulers determined by an informal “election” via planetary thoughtlinks.
Dominant Political Ideology: Unity

Military

Total Military Personnel: Current peacetime personnel: 655,555,000
Theoretical possible reserves: 8,740,000,000
Historical Record of your race/Civilization:
The Faeson are an intelligent species from the planet Faes, near the core area of the galaxy. They have the appearance of a four-armed humanoid, with pointed ears, feline-like eyes, multicolored skin and white hair only on their eyelashes and the tops of their heads. According to historical and archaeological records, the Faeson evolved from an ape-like species in the jungles of Faes and, using their superior intelligence and nascent psychic abilities, colonized and developed their world over the span of around ten thousand years.

Initially uninterested in spacefaring despite being technologically advanced, Faeson society was intensely ideological and large, destructive wars were frequent. However, the technological advancement of the Faeson led them to develop both artificial intelligence and a brain-computer interface, the former were used to make difficult calculations and decisions of all kinds while the latter was used to connect Faeson to machine and Faeson to Faeson (where natural psychics could not). Nations that adopted these technologies, connecting them to the Faeson version of the internet that would soon be known as the first thoughtlink, found themselves joining forces as the lines that previously divided them began to blur and then fade altogether.

Unable to ignore the massive strategic and tactical advantage the thoughtlinks gave their Faeson brethren, a new multinational war started between those who loved the thoughtlink (dubbing themselves the forces of Unity) and those who feared or hated the thoughtlink. The enemies of Unity stood no chance against the thoughtlinked Faeson forces, who thought and acted as though they had one mind. Those who were not killed surrendered and were forced to join the thoughtlink themselves, and to their great surprise found the experience to be enlightening instead of painful or terrible: their thoughts now echoed with everyone else who was connected. This marked the first time that the minds of all Faeson were connected. While pre-Unity Faeson had a number of scientific, political and religious calendars, this would serve as the start of the new Faeson calendar: the year 1 After Unity. The current year is 576 After Unity.

The Faeson continued under Unity for a generation or so, cleaning up the mess on their planet that their thoughtless ancestors had left for them. However, these operations were disrupted when a large comet fell from the sky, killing many Faeson and changing the climate of Faes. The Faeson collectively realized that they could not continue to simply cling to their homeworld and needed to expand outwards into the stars, which had previously been the domain of a few scientists and astrological priests. So a Faeson age of exploration began, as starships were designed and launched and FTL transport was developed. A new governing body, the Exostellar Unity Consortium, was created to coordinate the technocratic and stratocratic leadership of settled worlds and to make sure that the gift of Faeson peace would not vanish with the dawning of this new era.

Presently, the Faeson have developed a sizable, prosperous, cultured, and remarkably stable empire in the middle part of the galaxy. They have met a number of other sentient species, establishing “protectorates” to bottle up those who are inferior to them and making peace with the Vexians, Vresh, and Humans, who are their equals. A tenuous peace holds for now, but anxieties of future conflict and the potential of failure have begun to seep into many planetary thoughtlinks...

Alitheia in SPAAAACCCEEE!!!

General Information

Official Nation Name: The Vresh Hive
Population: TBD
Preferred Map Location: Sectors 20, 21, and 39

Political Information

Governance Type: The Hivemind has full control, situated in the current Hive Queen, with Minor Queens, Commanders, Outcasts used in subordinate positions
Dominant Political Ideology: Survival at all costs

Military

Total Military Personnel: TBD
Historical Record of your race/Civilization:
The Vresh have subsisted for millenia, slowly evolving, rising, expanding, falling, and then repeating the cycle over again. Generally, as the Hive expands and becomes an ever-increasing threat to neighboring interstellar civilizations, they are eventually burned to ashes, nearly destroying the entirety of the Vresh species. The species persists, though, and after every great hellfire, they rebuild and emerge anew, ready to repeat the cycle over again in the name of survival. The Vresh always survive.

This cycle has caused devastation to what the Vresh consider their homeworld, the former jungle planet of Sylax, which was nearly glassed and is now undergoing a nuclear winter over major swaths of the planet. The Vresh, luckily, or by an act of benevolence, survived this most recent eradication and has once again emerged, building and expanding. For civilizations that remember the last time the Vresh were prominent, they'd be remembered as a scourge, creating a dead zone of space in all directions. All that exists in the dead space, other than sporadic hive worlds, are a scant few worlds seemingly untouched. These worlds having become veritable planet-farms for the Hive, which periodically stop in to cull the wildlife and feed their limitless hunger.

The Vresh haven't always been a scourge, however. In some Great Cycles, as the Hivemind refers to the times in which they exist, the Vresh have been taken under the wing of great civilizations to be studied and researched. This, surprisingly, almost always ends poorly, but the Hive learns from these experiences. This is how the concept of agriculture, albeit simple, came around, the idea of culling living worlds of extra wildlife. Additonally, the Vresh weren't always a FTL-capable species, but one great patron took pity on the polymorphic eusocial race and granted them genetic markers so a caste could be created that could harness the abilities of FTL travel, allowing the species and their massive ships created from an amalgamation of simple technology and bio-organic substances, to take to the stars on their own, and at much faster paces. These great patrons of the past, known to the psychically-active Hivemind as "Caretakers" are revered almost as a normal civilization worships gods, as the Caretakers of past Great Cycles have granted the Hive with various abilities and technologies, which have always been adapted for use by the Hive.

Even now, the Hive grows, as does the expanding "Dead Zone" around their space, their presence only announced formally either with the Hive's unseemly and alien vessels appearing in settled space to rain down death and destruction. This is not always the case, however. Not every Vresh individual is a mindless biological machine ruled by the whims of the Hivemind. The various subordinate Queens to the Hive Queen have a measure of independence, as do the fertile male battlefield "Commanders." Even the baseline Vresh breeds have subtle tells of hidden intellect, while the smaller and more dispensable Vresh are little more than animals driven by instinct and the call of the Hivemind.

There are some, however, completely cut off from the Hivemind. While this would normally drive a Vresh to give up and die without a purpose, these Vresh, marked by the Hive as Outcast, were hatched completely independent. At one time, the "Outcasts" were considered mutants to be killed off in the nursery upon hatching if they didn't respond to the Hive's demands, but over time, various Caretakers have instilled in the Hivemind a desire to keep the Outcasts around as a form of ambassador or knight for the Hive to use, as they can communicate more directly with outsiders when such a need for communication arises. Otherwise, the only communication is at the end of a Soldier's bio-plasma weapon or claws as they growl. Or, for more psychically-adept beings, maybe communication with the Hivemind itself is possible...

This is the apex of the 21st Great Cycle. The Vresh Hive is thriving, expanding, and innovating. The Hivemind knows it is only a matter of time until the Great Cycle ends and the species is once more nearly exterminated from the face of the galaxy. But the Hivemind knows something these contemporary civilizations do not: The Vresh always survive.
