Nah, I think that gods can indeed be born as, well, gods. Mortals ascending into godhood is probably the exception, rather than the norm. In Allathor's case, this has to do with the backstory I've planned for him, which is still awaiting Charmera's approval.

Yeah, I assumed gods could have a variety of origins, but were usually offspring of other gods or came into existence when their Aspects did.

Azaku was sculpted out of stone and brought to life by Atarpha. Prior to his existence his Aspects were governed by other gods.

Ex-Servitor Races: Vuno are a humanoid race that appears to be human of their unusual skins tones such as light purple skin, semi pointed ears and innate magical ability. The Vuno actually are descendants of spirits that after fulling a pact with Aknas, were granted their wish to be mortal. They live and thrive in the Great Afruti Desert in the west and covered themselves in intricate tattoos that they infuse with magic to boost their magical powers.

Bio: Aknas was once the member of a small pantheon that was popular with native humans Great Afruti Desert. His role in the pantheon was that of a mediator between the spirits and mortals of Allarin. Even meditated disputes among the other gods of his pantheon. Though he was a powerful god in the pantheon, he was not the leader of it nor did he wish to be the leader. That honor belongs to Imus and Aknas was content in his place. He created the Vuno as part of a deal he made with a group of spirits. He would serve him and at as guards for the pantheon's holy sites and in turn after a thousand years of service they were turned into mortals. Aknas became protective over the Vuno as they grew and thrive to create the Kingdom of Yairal.

While Aknas was doing well watching over the Vuno, tensions were growing in the pantheon as there was a dispute over who should be in charge of the pantheon. Aknas tried his best to defuse the tensions but, failed and a civil war started He was neutral at first, trying to get support among the gods and found none. Still trying to find a peaceful solution to the war, he tried one last gamble during a major battle. Aknas tried to reason with them and it was useless. The battle continued and he was caught in the fighting, being killed by two gods. He fell hard that day and the pantheon would tear itself apart and fall to rival pantheons.

He did not keep track of how long he had been mortal and was in his depression over his failure to stop the civil war. After a century of wandering in a self-imposed exile, he finally got himself together and started to aid the Vuno however he could. Acting as a guide to them and started to work with the guild. Though it seems like he does not wish to regain his godhood, he secretly does and hopes that working with the Guild, he can somehow find a way of regaining his godhood and forge a better pantheon then his old one.

Aspects: Sand and Spirits
Powers:

• Fallen God Physiology: Fallen gods are ageless, in addition, they are faster, stronger and tougher than most mortal races.
• Power of the Desert: Aknas can generate and control sand to use in attacks.
• Sand Armor: Aknas can encase himself in sand and harden it to be as tough as steel.
• [Spirit Sight: Spirit Sight enables Aknas to see beings, and even objects that mortals can not see.

Weakness:

• [Elemently Curse]: Aknas is weak to water or any element that can weaken his control over sand.
• [Oversight]: Aknas can is more susceptible to bright lights, more so while he is using his spirit sight and will stun him.

Artefact: Staff of the Dunes - The weakest in terms of power of Aknas's godly weapons. His staff can amplify his sand magic and can summon a fierce sandstorm at his command.

Right got my Pantheon of Trials going, should be interesting transferring it over. Will likely just wait until I get internet for that since the bio is about 14 paragraphs long and I still have to work on his other stuff, like appearance, another strength, and the weaknesses. Should be neato.

EDIT: Should the Pantheon of Trials serve the Frostfather, as they have gone through such trials and tribulations?

Its fine to me, besides the hallucination and bleeding stuff only happens if she uses like days' worth of energy in an hour or something to that effect. Plus she's memorized her spells already so I guess that line about incantations wasn't necessary and I'll get rid of it.

Appearance: She appears as a handsome, buxom dark-skinned woman with long purple hair and red eyes...often dressed in hooded robes of varying colors. Often accompanied by Kaz, her snake familiar. Her other familiar is Opeli, an imp.

Bio: Azhar-Zel was one of the gods of magic that once held dominion over this land, although she preferred to generally spend her company among humans or in her own palace unlocking Magic’s secrets instead of spending a lot of time with the other gods (save her brother,
Pyrus-Dan). The gods, not wanting humans to gain too much power and having delusions of becoming gods themselves put very strict limits on what type of magic humans could use...but sometimes that didn’t sit with Zel very well for she could see the power and potential in the mortal races. Also, she believed that magic was a neutral force that possessed no true good and evil, and that it was all up to the intention of the wielded that made magic evil or not. She started developing a new brand of magic, dark magic. A type of magic that could be learned by anyone with the will, you didn’t have to be born with anything special. Knowing most of the other gods wouldn’t approve, she kept things under wraps for the most part but then the Frostfather caught her teaching these forbidden secrets to humans (who were henceforth called warlocks, meaning “oathbreaker” but became a catch-all term for any mage who primarily used dark magic. For this offense, she was cast down by the Frostfather and not even her brother could help her.

If I'm going to design a character who's a fallen god, I want him to fall hard. He's 7,200 since birth (born as a god) and the bio encompasses the history of his Pantheon as well, so...yeah.
