Kyōki. Kyōki. Insanity indeed. Well, considering my nation name, I feel obligated to take part in such a dormitory. The IC justification for such, is of course, less arbitrary. I mean, how could an aspiring goddess pass up the opportunity to uncover a possible undead mad scientist minion?

All right, I believe I finished Kiyoshi's background, incorporating (I think/hope) everyone important and involved in his childhood in less than 400 words, as well as giving him the credentials of an anime harem protagonist. Please let me know if you think something is lacking or should be embellished.

Just to forewarn you, the moment Kiyoshi refers to himself as "ore-san" or acts like a male himedere, he's going to get his shit rocked harder than the dinosaurs. As the designated muscle-girl, it is my job to be the buxom bouncer that always gets protag-kun into interesting positions. As per the Harem Anime Survival Video, he'll have increasingly physical (both in contact and painful) hijinks involving multiple charming women. Being the most physically active (arguably) of the group, him being a god at martial arts directly contradicts his vulnerability as a character, as any and all conflicts with the girls will be resolved quickly. Isn't a harem protag supposed to be denser than a black hole?

Stimmte zu, mein Freund, but we have to incorporate Fusui Tenshi's backstory in somewhere. I removed the national and international parts of the tournament, but he did, according to canon, win "a tournament." Fortunately, the skills do not translate very easily to wrestling. Not to mention that if Ren entered the tournament, she'd probably win too.

The Kyōki Dormitory.

Tensai Josei stood with the other students that were moving into the new dormitory. Many of the older dorms had been destroyed by an upperclassman's accelerated-biological-mutation-by-radiologically-targeted-genes experiment on what was once a gecko. So, now, the students were gathered for orientation.

The Faculty Dorm Mistress, Mrs. Baishunpu imparted to the students that there was absolutely no truth to the rumors that their dorm had been built on the site of the laboratory of a mad scientist whose spirit roamed the grounds looking for unwitting victims to experiment on with friends from a demonic coven. It was an old tale that had been fabricated at a drunken party of mad scientists and demon worshippers and there wasn't a shred of truth to that story at all. So, don't worry about it.

This denial greatly set Josei's mind at ease.

Anyone interested in having their character in the Insanity Dorm?

We have, in no particular order, a half-American Yakuza, a French Maid who cleans and nothing else, an English transfer student, an alien, an alternate universian, and probably a couple more foreigners I'm forgetting. You're fine as long as the signups ain't closed.

She can and will make all hell break loose in the dorms, and in delivering food, and in making puddles and other hazards which the MC may or may not slip on. As keeper of the dorms she has access to the trashiest and most embarrassing and intimate items and clothing...she is an instigator of doom.

Whether this will be malice or genuine incompetence however I'm not sure yet.

Hey, nothing better than trash for quick stress relief. Complex and emotional novel pages on difficult situations are fun and all, but they get exhausting quickly. Random hijinks where everything just goes wrong and builds into a snowball of misunderstandings and madness, that’s great for some fun.

Background with Kiyoshi, if applicable: A time traveller and mecha combat pilot from the future, Reiko Kikkawa's one and only mission is to protect Kiyoshi from assassins sent by an interstellar empire invading Earth in her time, who threaten to rewrite history by erasing humanity's greatest hero in the war and Kiyoshi's descendant, Mamoru Fujita. To that end, she must also identify his future wife, a task that's proving more different with the growing bevy of women clustering around him. However, questions soon arose over whether her interference might inadvertently rewrite history herself, as she questioned her place in Kiyoshi's life. Soon, she would have to confront the possibility that the one destined for him could be herself.

At least, that's what the suffering writer who designed her character was forced to write.

An underpaid wage slave and aspiring writer in Japan's unforgiving workplace, Kimiko Himegawa (Japanese: 姫川君子 Himegawa Kimiko) had always wanted to become an accomplished author of a serious fictional novel. Inspired by classics such as Legends of the Galactic Heroes, she had always preferred delving into complex topics such as politics, military conflict, and race. To her dismay, the extreme misogynistic environment she was born and raised into became the stuff of legend, where her drafts were often rejected for such things as 'too complex' and 'lack of romance'. Ultimately, unable to make ends meet, she joined the animation studio as a character and scriptwriter, forced to endure the disgrace of writing trashy anime plots for under-budgeted shows, with her own, more well-thought out plots often tossed out for the same reasons as her novel drafts.

Ultimately, cracking under pressure to write what she genuinely deems to be an irredeemably lousy anime (私は可愛いですか？), she decided to go all out to write a veiled plea for help for the squalid conditions of the studio. To that end, she turned Reiko into an author avatar, drawing from her own background to make up her past. Even the character's name was taken directly from her mother's maiden name, and her own appearance was used as a reference. Uninterested in salvaging the show or forcing her character to play along with the harem, she instead sought to save herself with an interesting and genuinely complex character, filling the gaps in her official backstory with tales of a devastating, multifaceted conflict from her rejected novel ideas. Perhaps, part of her did want the show to succeed. Or perhaps, sensing the impending collapse of the studio, she hoped that a better employer would pick her up and allow her to use her talents to the fullest.
