Real only, we are in conventions right now so no time for campaigning. You could however become some sort of dark horse compromise candidate as both conventions are somewhat deadlocked

Democrats are more deadlocked than Republicans, so choosing a Democrat might be a little more fun. There is still the Socialist Party and the Prohibition Party who don't have people RPing for them as well.

those are good cabinet picks, but announcing them publicly like that could backfire and be embarrassing if any of them decline the position

That is absolutely true, and could happen (especially with Baldwin and Bryan). Hopefully though these men at least back me over Clark, and is enough to give me the progressive backing.

Wilson needs to show he is a southern "good old boy" and won't infringe on things like lynching and wont try to expand voting rights to african americans and women

RP is not dead! Just posted the 4th ballot. Roosevelt gets over the hump and the Democratic Party continues divided, though Texas has chosen a side.

Dentali, your next job is picking a VP and writing an acceptance speech. Then you can get to campaigning in the general. You can write posts as Roosevelt or as your VP.

You know, with Roosevelt as the Republican, and Wilson having a very good chance of being the Democrat, I wonder if a Conservative/Dixie 3rd Party will rise to try to fight the rising tide of Progressivism in the USA?

Fifth ballot is up! I think the chances of a 3rd party conservative run depend on who wins the Democratic primary, and if Wilson wins, how well he can placate the conservatives. I think a conservative third party is unlikely, with Roosevelt working on outreach to conservative Republicans, but it's possible. There's also the Prohibition Party that could be a protest vote, and the Socialist Party is still looking for a person to RP if they'd like to.

so how much...artistic license do we have? The character I'm eyeing only served in congress for two terms in the 1890s, but the way I want to write him would have him still be in Congress, or have been recently elected back into Congress, and be a delegate (unlike irl, too).

You can name your own VP, so Deneen automatically accepts. Lodge accepts Secretary of State as well.

You can play as whatever real person you want, but you can't change history before this point.

Sixth ballot is up and we have a winner! General election will now begin. Both players can write posts as their presidential or vice-presidential candidate, and defeated candidates can continue to post and try to influence the outcome as well.

For what its worth guys that was an excellent fight for delegates, you both did fantastic. Greater Arab State, I'd love it if you played Governor Charles Deenen of Illinois, Roosevelt's VP. You can control him independently and have him campaign.

I will probably introduce that and you can react to it.

As to the VP slot, Wilson can pick whoever he likes as VP. But if he wants to pick a moderate or conservative, that could have its advantages. Of course, Clark is also useful as Speaker in a Democratic administration.

Granluras, if you want to play as WJB, that’s fine. Just keep it serious and campaign for Wilson.
