Synopsis

The year was 1929. On September 20, the London Stock Exchange crashed when British investor Clarence Hatry and his associates were jailed for fraud and forgery. This greatly weakened the optimism of American investment in overseas markets. In the days leading to this, the market was severly unstable. From October 24 to October 29, the Wall Street crashed when share prices collapsed. For 12 years, the Great Depression came to terrorize the world without mercy. Economy collapsed everywhere and poverty came knocking on every door. Rich people committed suicide and citywide riots emerged quickly. Shops were looted and banks were totally destroyed. The chaos that Wall Street caused has a huge effect on the world. Some countries struggled to fight such as Italy, who created the largest state-owned industrial sector in Europe, and the US, who tried to figure out the causes of the Great Depression by forming the Pecora Commission in 1932. The Great Depression also led to the rise of political ideologies, most notably fascism (which was already in control of Italy since 1922). Meanwhile, armed conflicts suddenly broke out, mainly in Canada (where the country gets split into the Republic of Quebec and the United Provinces of Canada), Thailand (when elements of the Thai military sought out to end absolute monarchy), Latin America (mostly between leftists and fascists) and France (when left-wing populists took up arms and targeted the government for it's "economic crime against the French population").

FDR, the new US President, came forward with a plan called the "New Deal". In 1933, he was holding an impromptu speech in Miami, Florida, when he was assassinated by an Italian-born anarchist named Giuseppe Zangara. This assassination came to split the US into multiple countries as many, just like the anarchist himself, didn't like the New Deal. Martial law was imposed in numerous parts of the country while political elements saw an opportunity to take control at the same time. While the US government struggled to implement the New Deal, it was violently opposed by various groups ranging from "business nationalists", rogue military personnel, communist politicians, rogue Democrats, Republicans, anarchists and some powerful companies to factory workers, farmers, homeless people and separatist movements. Chaos culminated later that year, when the US ceased to exist and various governments formed out of it. Alaska, meanwhile, was annexed by the USSR.

In the same year, Germany came under the rule of a far-right party, whose policies helped stabilize the country amid the Great Depression and promote the nationalist concept of "Volksgemeinschaft". This party also dreamed about avenging Germany's defeat in the Great War, even if a new Great War would be more disastrous and led to further issues once it was over.

In 1934, the USSR saw an opportunity to invade Finland, first by foot through the Russo-Finnish border before sending in it's navy to attack Finnish coasts and annex Åland. The annexation, however, triggered Sweden, who rallied both Norway and Denmark into helping it to kick the USSR off Åland and then aid Finland. After two years of fighting, the USSR withdrew it's armed forces from Finland, creating so much common nationalism among the Nordic countries with the possibility of a single Nordic country being created as a result.

To regain pride after being defeated by the Nordic countries, the USSR set it's eyes on China, whose ruling party, the Kuomintang, was badly fighting Japan in Manchuria and the Communist Party of China in it's home territory. While Germany supported the KMT, the USSR supported the CPC. Both Germany and the USSR also sent troops to China, which meant they also fought the Japanese forces up north. The Soviet intervention unnerved the Japanese as the USSR might conquer Manchuria, thus Japan was forced to seek ceasefire with Germany, China and the USSR. Both Germany and the USSR saw an opportunity to establish ceasefire between the KMT and the CPC. In 1937, a year after the USSR withdrew it's armed forces from Finland, the Treaty of Nanjing was signed between the KMT, the CPC, the USSR, the Empire of Japan and the German Reich, splitting China into two countries. The Republic of China (ROC) controlled the southern half (with Tibet as a sovereign protectorate) while the Chinese Soviet Republic (CSR) controlled the northern half (without Manchuria and Uyghuristan). The Chinese Civil War (later known as the "First Chinese Civil War") ended 10 years after it first began and Japan is still amibitious about full control over China. The ROC later democratized to allow political parties to co-exist with the ruling KMT.

In 1938, due to a lot of factors, such as communist insurgency in France and the dissolution of the US, the European countries were forced to accept German demands, thus preventing a new Great War from breaking out. Germany, as a result, gained Austria, Alsace-Lorraine, German Cameroon, German East Africa, Togoland, parts of Czechoslovakia, parts of Poland and the German-speaking community of Belgium in the "Treaty of Brussels", which also nullified the Treaty of Versailles. While this ended peacefully and satisfied the Germans, it led to dissatisfaction among Britishmen, Frenchmen, Czechs, Slovaks, Poles and Belgians. Czechoslovakia somehow lost Czech parts to the German Reich, thus leaving Slovakia as a sovereign country. Germany and the USSR, thanks to the Treaty of Nanjing, made a non-aggression pact after China was divided by the treaty. A year later, the Spanish Civil War ends with Carlist victory, thus both overthrowing the Second Spanish Republic and restoring the Kingdom of Spain.

Also in 1938, the Republic of California invaded Baja California and Baja California Sur to actualize the concept of "Greater California", starting a year-long conflict with Mexico called the "Baja War", which California was able to win and keep the two Mexican states under it's control.

In 1940, a group of French nationalists who supported French values such as liberty, democracy and equality were so angry over the Treaty of Brussels that they accused the French government of treason against French society, which helped mounting up further opposition towards the government. In the end, the government was impeached by the National Assembly, who had been persuaded into this by the exact same group of French nationalists and then held emergency election. Once a party aligned with the nationalist group won the eleciton, France was made into the Fourth Republic, which was just as revanchist as Germany itself. It seeks to nullify the Treaty of Brussels and take back Alsace-Lorraine from German control. Unlike Germany, the Fourth Republic was just as democratic as the Third Republic, albeit more nationalist.

In 1941, still obsessed with world domination, Japan attacked Pearl Harbor and subsequently invaded Hawaii, which alerted the Republic of California, who responded by declaring war on Japan, starting the Pacific War (1941-1945). The two countries fought each other throughout the Pacific for 4 years. The war eventually led to strategic Californian victory and the signing of the Treaty of San Francisco, which gave California control over Hawaii, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, Midway Atoll, Wake Island, Johnston Atoll, Kingman Reef, Palmyra Atoll, Howland Island, Baker Island, Jarvis Island and the American Samoa while also earning California geopolitical hegemony over the Pacific as evident by the Philippines having a pro-Californian government since a civil war that was possibly part of the Pacific War. Japan still opposes Californian presence, seeing it as a threat to the "Greater East Asian Co-Prosperity Sphere", which Japan seeks to create.

In 1942, South Africa officially cuts all ties with the UK and declares itself an independent Afrikaner nation. This led to conflict between the ruling Afrikaners and various ethnic groups such as Zulu, Xhosa, Tswana, Sotho, Venda, Tsonga, Ndebele, British South Africans and Indian South Africans. On the other hand, the UK went militant on South Africa for this, leading to what the British called the "Third Boer War" (also referred to by Afrikaners as the "South African War of Independence"), which lasted from exactly 1942 to 1945. The Afrikaners put up a good fight against the British, who were aided by native South African rebels (Zulu, Xhosa, Tswana, Tsonga, Sotho, Ndebele, etc), as well as British South Africans and Indian South Africans, while Germany and various foreign volunteers (mostly Dutch volunteers) secretly backed the Afrikaner government. In 1945, the conflict ended with de facto Afrikaner victory and the signing of the Treaty of Johannesburg, which officially declared South Africa an independent country and also gave the UK continued control over Swaziland (including a coastal part of South Africa), Rhodesia (both Northern Rhodesia and Southern Rhodesia), Bechuanaland and South-West Africa.

In 1944, despite successful colonization of North Africa and East Africa in the 1930s, the Kingdom of Italy had a crisis regarding Benito Mussolini's paranoia over German territorial expansion since 1938. Fearing that Germany would come after Italy due to both being enemies back in the Great War, Benito became so extremely paranoid that he ordered full mobilization at the Austro-Italian border. This caused the Italian government to impeach him for his insanity, which helped bring an end to fascist rule as elections were held in 1946, resulting in the country being democratized again. Ethiopia was independent again, but Italy still retained Libya and Somalia.

In 1945, the atomic bomb was manufactured. California used it first to eradicate a whole IJN fleet on August 6, which may help end the Pacific War immediately, as California effectively threatened Japan with more atomic bombings if it didn't agree to a stalemate, which was eventually agreed to on August 9. As a result of this, California strategically won the Pacific War and later signed the Treaty of San Francisco with Japan. However, the nuclear attack on August 6 shocked the world, while other countries like the UK, the USSR, France, Germany and South Africa also began developing nuclear weapons, resulting in some nuclear tests. This would ultimately led to the signing of the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) in the 1950s.

In 1948, the Kingdom of Israel was granted independence from the UK. The country was a Jewish monarchy represented by a King and controlled by a Prime Minister. This creation led to conflict with Arab states. Meanwhile, the Dominion of India was struck by clashes between opposing ideologies, most notably Hindutva, Islamism and communism. The country split up into the Republic of India, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the Kingdom of Khalistan, the Maratha Empire, the Tamil Republic and the Naxal Commune.

In 1950, a series of border clashes led to a full-scale war between the CSR and the ROC, starting the "Second Chinese Civil War". The war lasted until 1954 when the Treaty of Macau is signed and the borders further militarized as a result. Throughout the war, the CSR was supported by the USSR, Mongolia, Uyghuristan (Xinjiang), Burma and Naxal, while the ROC was supported by Japan, Germany, France, Portugal, Canada, the UK, the Philippines, the Republic of India and the Republic of California. It was in this conflict that the CSR captured Nanjing, the capital of the ROC, forcing the ROC to choose a new capital down south.

Amid the Second Chinese Civil War, the USSR began orchestrating and supporting revolutions across Africa, Latin America, Southeast Asia and the Middle East in a bid for world communism. European colonies in Africa were fragile as anti-colonialist groups (Gaddafists, Mau Mau, Nasserists, Bourguibists, FLN, MNA, Pan-Somalists, Sankarists, etc) attacked them and sought out their independence from Europe. In Latin America, left-wing politics took control of Cuba (1959) and Venezuela (1958), while fierce combat between government forces and insurgent groups raged on in Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Honduras, Panama, Colombia and Brazil. In the Middle East, the Arabic ideology of Ba'athism pledged allegiance to the USSR and gained political control of Iraq, Syria, Egypt and Kuwait, alerting Turkey, Israel and other Arab countries down south. In Iran, as a result of people being afraid of communist takeover, the Tudeh Party was jointly removed from power by both the Pahlavi family and the UK. In Southeast Asia, communist insurgents, supported by the USSR, the CSR, Burma and Naxal, were clashing with government forces in Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines. Meanwhile, the Space Race began in 1955 and countries are struggling with reaching the outer space.

In 1960, both the Belgian Congo and Ruanda-Urundi jointly declares independence from Belgium as Congo, mainly thanks to Soviet support. This leads to the Congo Crisis, when the European powers began orchestrating rebellion within the new country as a response to the USSR orchestrating rebellion across the world. Violent clashes between various political factions became rampant within Congo as a result of Soviet-European rivalry.

In 1961, a series of border clashes occurs between Mexico and the former US (mostly Tex, mostly due to the result of trying to stop illegal immigration with violent force.

In 1962, the Cuban Missile Crisis occured and Algeria seceded from France after eight years of separatist violence.

In 1963, Jeremy Carlton, the President of California, was on a state visit in the Republic of Texas. While riding a car through Dallas on November 22, he was assassinated by a sniper. This led to brief diplomatic tensions between Texas and California while Japan and the USSR were also blamed for the assassination. Meanwhile, an acting President was appointed to rule California until the presidential elections are held the following year.

It is now January 1, 1964. The Republic of California is still mourning the assassination of it's former President, the USSR is dealing with issues within the CPSU leadership, Europe is on the brink of war between two of it's great powers, Japan is seeking profit and alliance among it's neighbours, the former US is still facing various issues, the British Empire has ceased to exist, there are high tensions between India and it's neighbours, the Non-Proliferation Treaty is still in effect, the Space Race is accompanied by technological progress and the communist revolts in Africa, Asia and Latin America are still ongoing. Most important, the effects of the Great Depression are still present. Whatever happens afterwards is everyone's guess.

Welcome to "A Song of Money and Fire", a RP where the US is split and WW2 never occured (thus WW1 is still known as the "Great War"), as well as the Great Depression being much worse here than IRL (as it came to cause a lot of armed conflicts). Starting in 1/1/1964 (January 1, 1964), you are in charge of a nation that is doing it's best to reshape the world alongside other nations at this time. It has been 31 years since FDR was assassinated, splitting the US into multiple countries. You either play as a US successor state or a non-US country. It is up to you to decide a path for your country, no matter what it takes. The world has economically recovered, yet other issues are still in place, waiting to devastate the world once again.

The decline of the volksgemeinschaft and the rise of the NSDAP is viewed in highlight as a natural evolution of the German Nation. Lead by its fuhrer Adolf Hitler, the NSDAP had attained a majority of seats in the Reichstag by the time of the Treaty of Brussels. Sweeping elections fallowed in favor of the NSDAP under the promise of "One People, One Reich" there policies aimed at solidifying Germany's new territory in Europe and making them properly German, the Minister of Interior Otto Remer was given unlimited authority to accomplish this task. Constructing infrastructure to physically tie these territories iinto the reich while establishing specialty administrated ethnic Enclaves, the largest of which was the Polish and Chezch autonomous administrative zones.

In this time the German Reich provided support to the Scandinavians against the soviets, Backed the Republic of China against its communist counter part, and supported the nationalists in the Spanish Civil War. In early 1940 Adolf Hitler died in a plane crash while preforming a tour ahead of the next rechistag election, throwing the NSDAP into disarray. But the strict hierarchy was established and now Vice chancellor Remer assumed the position of Chancellor of the Reich.

Under the Moderite leadership of Remer, such racial views were officially eradicated from party doctrine re-focusing on reich nationalism even opening up the SS (now a Elite paramilitary police force) to Chezch and Polish members. The most recent addition to these liberal reforms, was the "Knights of David", and official and all Jewish SS Battalion.

In 1948 the Reich Recognized and supported the Kingdom of Israel against there Muslim neighbors, with party doctrine shifting what used to be antisemitism into Islamophobia.

After the dissolution of the Republic of India, the Reich took the action to consistently provide support to any and all anti-communist fighters in any conflict.

In 1955 The Reich took a leading role in the Space race, with there advanced rocket programs and the famed scientist Wernher von Braun gave them an edge.

Starting in 1960, Slowly but surely every German colonies save for East Africa and Togo had either fallen to communist insurgency or had gained independence, only to fall to communist insurgency. The remaining two German holdings in Africa have essentially turned into armed camps, with anti-communists from all over Africa getting support from these two strongholds.

In response to the Cuban missile crisis, The Reich started a national initiative to turn the Metro systems of the Reich, some of the largest in the world into large nuclear fallout shelters, with more and more being built under the guise of infrastructure development while The Reich continued to maintain and expand its own nuclear weapons for defensive purposes.

Its current government policy sates for European co-operation in the face of communist aggression.

History:In 1934, congressional representatives from the states of Texas, Arizona, and New Mexico met to discuss the future of the South Western United States after the death of President FDR. After nearly two months of talks, the states decided to secede from the already collapsing union and as such quickly drafted a new constitution based heavily on that of the old American Constitution. The delegations would elect then De Facto Governor of Texas, James Ferguson, to the position of President. Andrew Hockenhull, the governor of New Mexico, would serve as the first Vice President while Benjamin Baker Moeur, governor of Arizona, would be elected to serve as the first Texan Speaker of the House and tasked with forming the new congress in San Antonio. With the soon to be secession of California and New England, The Texas Republic was able to leave the union with little resistance from those in Washington who likewise saw complete collapse to be probable. The next thirty years would see the development of the Texan Republic into an economic and energy powerhouse through the production of oil, natural gas, and agricultural products. The Republic would likewise create a standing professional army consisting of at least 5% of the total Texan population which had for the most part been fulfilled by volunteer soldiers. The expansion of oil drilling and other industries into Arizona and New Mexico proved to further aid the republic in its economic growth. Now, the republic stands at a calm moment in history despite the fact that a fuse had already been lit.

History: The history was the same until around the Great Depression who, being much worse than IRL, caused many armed conflicts. Among these was a communist uprising in France from 1932 to 1935, dubbed the "Popular Uprising" (Soulèvement Populaire). An alliance of far-left groups called the Popular Front (Front Populaire) revolted against the French government as a response to the economic crisis in France amid the Great Depression. The uprising was opposed by two equally opposed sides, the French government and various far-right groups. The uprising ended with a truce in 1935 and elections were held a year later, which saw the Popular Front become the ruling government of France, except it was reformed and composed of less violent groups such as the French Section of the Communist Internationale (SFIC), the French Section of the Workers' Internationale (SFIO) and the Socialist Republican Party (PRS). This government only lasted for two years.

In 1938, the Treaty of Brussels was signed to satisfy the German Reich by giving it certain territories. France, for example, had to cede Alsace-Lorraine to the German Reich, which led to French citizens being unhappy about the decision. Two years later, a group of French nationalists orchestrated further anger towards the French government and also caused the government to be impeached by the National Assembly due to "pro-German" treason against French society. Elections were held and a nationalist government was elected, forming the Fourth Republic, a very nationalist successor to the Third Republic. Since then, many nationalist parties has been in control of France such as the Descendants of the French Revolution (DRF), who created the Fourth Repbulic after electoral victory in 1940, and the French People's Party (PPF), which was led by the famous General Charles de Gaulle.

From 1950 to 1954, France supported the Republic of China during the Second Chinese Civil War. The French Army sent 3,420 troops to the confict. At the same time, communist insurgency surfaced in French Indochina. With no end in sight following the Treaty of Macau, French Indochina was given independence, yet under French influence in order to fool the communist insurgents.

In 1958, the National Republican Party (PNR) came to power after electoral victory against the French People's Party, the Union of the Democratic Forces (UFD), the Popular Republican Movement (MPR), the Socialist Republican Party, the Action Française, the French Communist Party (PCF) and the French Section of the Workers' Internationale. The party is fiercely opposed to German supremacy.

In 1960, France was among the European countries orchestrating anti-communist insurgency in the recently independent Congo (Belgian Congo).

In 1962, Algeria was given independence, yet remained under French influence in order to prevent the country from falling under either communist influence, Islamist influence or even German influence.

History: After the collapse of the United States in 1933, the Philippines, an American colony at that time, suddenly found itself independent. Uniting the country under his presidency, President Manuel L. Quezon declared Philippine independence in 1934, forming the Second Philippine Republic. With independence secured, the Philippines then began to build itself up, establishing relations all over the world, with emphasis on relations between the Philippines and Japan, the regional power of the time. Emphasis was also placed on establishing relations with the now fractured American states, focusing primarily on the Republic of California.

When the First Chinese Civil War broke out, the Philippines played both sides, selling goods and products to both while maintaining strict neutrality up until 1941. After the Pacific War broke out, the Philippines struggled to maintain neutrality in the early years of the war, eventually siding with the Californians when the war was nearly over. This is still a current cause of resentment from the Japanese, causing the Philippines to willingly subject herself to Californian influence to try to prevent a Japanese invasion of the islands.

In 1946, however, a coup was launched by pro-Japanese elements in the government with alleged support from Japan, leading to a civil war between the pro-Californians and the pro-Japanese. Eventually, although the pro-Californian faction ended up victorious, it led to a bloody purge within the government. In 1949, the Third Philippine Republic, a dictatorship ruled by the pro-Californian faction, was proclaimed. Its mission was ostensibly to promote democracy within Southeast Asia and oppose Japanese expansion in Asia, though it was generally seen by the world as merely a willing Californian puppet.

In 1950, with the support of the Republic of California, the Philippines joined the Second Chinese Civil War, supporting the ROC alongside her allies and Japan. This led to widespread condemnation of the country from the USSR and the various communist regimes that had been established. In 1955, with the secret support of the USSR, communist insurgency began to rise within the Philippines. History: The economic impact of the crash of 29' was enormous in the Midwest where one of the highest concentrations of domestic manufacturing was located. Ten years of prosperity following the Great War was seemingly turned upside down in a fury of both extreme human suffering and profound changes in economic policy. Factories that existed for 50 years were closing their doors, and hundreds of thousands were losing their homes. When the New Deal came along in the 1930s, it was initially met with opposition from factory union organizers and local governments, but as time progressed much of the region's great blue collar population grew in favor of the legislation and were highly eager for the implementation, which was very slow. Dissatisfied with the newfound inefficiencies of FDR's plan, the citizens of Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana were becoming tired and angry with what was generally conceded to be an overpowered and highly centralized government not interested in the regional matters of American manufacturing hubs. The assassination of FDR only instigated more trouble for the dire situation, and in the three years following, the future remained highly unstable for the area, with riots rampant, unreliable civic departments abandoning their duties, and a worse economic situation than ever. People were furious and with the abandonment of the State Capitols and their senior public servants, trade union organizers began occupying the state capitols alongside the congress members and government employees that remained through the chaos. The congressional representatives that remained in Indiana, Ohio and Michigan travelled to Detroit in January of 1940 and discussed the options available to the region alongside the unions. It was unilaterally decided by all sides that the best course of action was to secede from the United States and amalgamate the represented states into a single federation solely interested in the reformation of the rust belt. Two months later, the new Commonwealth of South Huron was established from the remains of the collapsing midwest, a new constitution being drafted soon after. The first free election of the Commonwealth was done in 1941, and former republican congressman, Kirk Laramie, was elected. For twenty years, various reform projects following paternalistic conservative ideals were implemented to bring South Huron out of the red, and in 1958, economic output had returned to humble post-great war levels. In 1962, Robert B. Levitan, formerly a senator, was elected as Governor of South Huron, his promises to strengthen the economy, and improve public infrastructure being popular points with voters.

History: In 1929, the Depression hit Greece rather hard; exacerbating the previous instability of the 1920s. As the country spiralled into complete collapse, the Military stepped in in January of 1930, and Royalist General Ioannis Metaxas - a war hero from the Greco-Turkish War of 1897, the Balkan Wars and WWI, formed a new government. After declaring martial law, and purging the Republicans from the Government (1930 - 1932), he invited King George II (ruled: 1922 -1924) back from exile; and the Monarchy was reinstated. Metaxas encouraged self-sufficiency among the Greeks; while also clamping down on subversive elements: Liberals and Communists. In International Affairs, Metaxas kept a low profile; though he was certain to align Greece closely with the Germany (both Metaxas and the King were hardcore Germanophiles) - purchasing German military equipment, and signing a treaty of friendship with the Reich. The remainder of the 1930s and the 1940s was a time of relative peace and stability in Greece, as foreign investment (especially from Germany) helped the country a great deal; and Greece's Military was supplied by the Reich.

In 1947 AD, however, King George II died; and his younger brother Paul ascended to the throne. Due to personal rivalries with Metaxas, King Paul dismissed Metaxas in an incredibly rude manner, and replaced him with another Military Officer: Alexandros Papagos. This caused fissures within the Greek Government, between those who supported Metaxas and those who supported Paul and Papagos. This growing cleavage between Metaxists and Paulists would only grow in the coming years; and consumed with partisan power struggles; Greece's right-wing regime would allow the Communist and Liberal factions in Greece to slowly start cropping their heads up again. In 1949, Papagos arranged with Britain that they would hand Cyprus over to Greece; and in return, Greece would begin to pull back from the German Reich. Britain agreed to this, and come 1950, Cyprus was in Greek hands, and many of the arms treaties with Germany were torn up. Needless to say, the Reich did not take this well, and so the foreign cash dried up, and Greece began to fall on hard times. Communist terrorist cells and calls for democractic revolution from Liberals rang out throughout the country; as the economy fell back into hard times. Many on the Right, pined for "good old days" of Metaxas.

In 1952, Papagos would be assassinated by a Communist terrorist cell ; and it would come time for King Paul to select another Prime Minister. It is during this time, that the more Liberal factions began to organize massive demonstrations and street protests; demanding the King restore democratic elections and reopen the Parliament. The British and other Democratic forces abroad made similar demands. The country was paralyzed. However, just when it seemed the spineless King would give in; another Military Coup saved the day. This coup was led by the disgraced Metaxas, who quashed the protests ruthlessly and then surrounded the Palace (for the King's safety, of course). In 1953, after confirming Metaxas as Prime Minister, King Paul abdicated the Throne,leaving his young son Constantine II as King of Greece; and Metaxas as Regent.

Regent Metaxas proceeded to quickly patch things up with the Germans, and while some foreign investment did return, and military cooperation was restored; things were not quite what they used to be. The Red terrorism continued, and the shrieks for democracy were only growing louder. By 1956, feeling himself old (Metaxas was 85 by this time), the Regent appointed the Royal Committee for Public Safety and staffed it with capable Military Officers and loyal allies; so as to provide for the running of the State when he passed. This was rather fortuitous, as in 1958, the great General passed away; and the Regency was handed over to Georgios Papadopoulos, a young and capable officer who had shown his mettle in dealing with the Communists. In 1959, the 19 year old King assumed his full Monarchial Powers; as he was now in his majority; and the Regency was abolished. King Constantine II still kept Papadopoulos on as Prime Minister though, and the RCPS (Royal Committee of Public Safety) as well.

By 1964, the problems plaguing Greece since 1947 were only escalating; the terrorism, riots and general instability were only getting worse. Many wonder if it is only a matter of time before Greece should swing in a totally different direction.
