To his disappointment, instead of being flown over to the battlefield, he was stationed in South Korea where he trained alongside the South Korean military. He stayed in South Korea for a year before returning to America. His second deployment saw him travel and stay in Germany for a period of time before attending the annual NATO exercises with other European militaries.

In 2005, he was finally deployed for a tour of duty in Afghanistan with service records revealing he participated in multiple engagements with the enemy during that time. When he returned home, he underwent the RASP (Ranger Assessment and Selection Program) and successfully passed it. Becoming an official member of the 75th Ranger Regiment, Nathan would be deployed to the Middle East and Africa before being handpicked by the 1st SFOD-D, more famously known as 'Delta Force'. Nathan's time during his time as an elite operator is murky with his service records being heavily classified because of his unit's activities under the CIA's Special Activities Division but it can be revealed that he resigned from the military in the summer of 2015.

Nathan would join the Secret Service in the same year. His career in US black ops and connections with figures in US national security would help fast-track his progress in the Service and he would spend 2 years as a uniformed officer rotating between the White House counter-sniper team and the emergency response team. In his 3rd year of duty, he was promoted to the highest position an active field agent could attain and is currently the leading agent of Hawkeye, the Secret Service Counter-Assault unit that serves as the President's very own personal SWAT team.
