From the chieftain, the President, to the nonentities in the backdrop, the aides and body men, the vast realm of the American Executive is now at your disposal.

Welcome to the West Wing.

West Wing Roleplay Rules

  • The OP’s and the CO-OP’s words are law. Follow them.
  • Don’t use real characters, we’re here for fun not legal trouble. Also, all major political personalities post-Bush are non-existent, so don’t refer to people like Obama or Pelosi.
  • Try to post a couple times a week, and if you’re not going to be able to post for a while please alert the OP or CO-OP.
  • Make some IC effort. We are more lenient than most, here, but do try to put some effort into your IC posts. Try to keep one-liners to a minimum, though they are fine if in a conversation.
  • Respect your fellow players. Don’t be rude unnecessarily or excessively.
  • No Dues Mechanica or Marty Stu characters. This roleplay is intended to be realistic, and being perfect is not a realistic attribute.
  • Once you've made an IC post, leave it. Tweaks to formatting are all right, but don't try to change what you've already put down, especially if it has already been responded to.
  • If you are unsure if a certain action is against the rules consult the OP or CO-OP.
  • You may play up to five characters, but don’t apply for a second/third/etc. character until you make three posts (not including conversation replies).
  • Assassination attempts are not allowed, or any physical force towards another character. However, if you and the targeted character both agree then you can talk to the OP and CO-OP and receive approval.
  • No metagaming.
  • This is more of a general statement than a rule, but events such as foreign crises/domestic terrorism/political scandals/etc. are planned by the "Special Event Team", which as of Feburary, 2019 is made up of Chewion and Granluras.
  • Keep OOC comments in the OOC thread. All OOC comments will be deleted.
  • Keep things PG-13, as this is a PG-13 website and roleplay.
  • Notify the OP or CO-OP before leaving the roleplay.

Character Weight: 220 lbs
Character Position: PolSci Student at Norte Dame University (1990-1994); Economics Student at Norte Dame University (1990-1994); Law Student at Harvard Law School President (1994-2000); Aid In Senator DeWine’s Office (2000-2001) Chief of Staff of Senator DeWine’s Office (2001-2003); Deputy National Security Advisor (2003-2007); Representative of Ohio’s 7th congressional district (2008-2014); House Minority Whip (2010-2012); House Majority Leader (2012-2014); Junior Senator of Ohio (2014-2017); President of the United States (2017-present)
Appearance: Image
Party Affiliation: Republican Party (1992-present)
Main Strengths: Effective communicator; populist: well-educated man.
Main Weaknesses: Overthinker; intermittent, rash personality

Biography: Born in Mount Vernon, Ohio to a well off doctor and a housewife mother, Ryan led a normal life up through school. For college, he first attended Nôtre Dame University in Indiana where he earned his degrees in Political Science and Economics. While at Norte Dame, he became politically evolved, joining the Young Republicans collegiate chapter at the school and participating in the collegiate debate club. He then attended Harvard Law School where he studied constitutional law for a few years, graduating in 2000.

After earning that degree he became a congressional aide for then Ohio Senator Mike DeWine. Serving in various positions including Chief of Staff, Ryan eventually left DeWine’s team in 2003 to serve as the Deputy National Security Advisor to President Bush, with DeWine serving as his reference. One of the only voices in Bush’s inner circle to speak against the invasion of Iraq, Ryan left the Bush Administration in 2007 and ran for Representative of Ohio’s 7th congressional district where he won the seat. He served as Minority Whip in the 111th Congress, and Majority House Leader in the 1112th Congress. In the 2014 elections, he ran and won the open Ohio junior Senate seat.

In 2016, he announced his candidacy for President. He campaigned off of a populist, fiscally conservative, and nationalist platform that was accompanied by frequent, rambunctious, high-attendance rallies that numbered at sixty by the November. He won the Republican presidential primary in July, besting his Texan opponent by a margin of 11.3%; and went on to win the Presidential elections with 54% of the popular vote and 325 of the 536 electoral votes. His presidency, though in its infancy, has proven to be a precedent-setting one, as President Carter is an outspoken and sometimes rash politician in conduct with "Establishment groups" like the Media, but much more mellow with "civilian groups", following his populist rhetoric.

Other Info: Served on the Senate and House Financial Services and Foreign Affairs committees during his congressional tenure.

Main Strengths: Well-organized; quite loyal; tech-savvy; good improviser; compassionate

Biography:
Richard was born on August 13, 1979 to Vincent Liebhaber, a conservative Protestant preacher from Lakewood, New York, and Emilie Liebhaber, a housewife. The early years of Richard’s life were normal ones, and Richard was educated in private by his mother with religiously-inclined lessons and by public schooling, which mixed a sense rationalism into his strictly religious upbringing. While Richard was pushed go to church every Sunday and Wednesday by his parents, up until he was thirteen, Richard still found the ability to branch off from his parents’ expectations. It was during a phase of rebellious ‘self-discovery’ during Richard’s pubescent years that he increasingly came to identify as homosexual. Although, Richard was still bound to his parents’ religious virtues, not ever slipping into being lapsed nor renouncing his religiosity. Richard went through middle school and high school closeted.

Upon graduation, Richard enrolled into the Jamestown Community College and began studying Criminal Justice. He worked tirelessly, devoting as much time as he could to studying for his classes. However, during his second year he realized this took a toll on him, as he had a weak social life which he began to want to develop. He joined his college’s football team as a result, and trained continuously to become a well-performing athlete. During this time he also became political—however, despite being gay he identified as conservative, mostly because he was opposed to the “pandering” attitude of liberals; he was discontent with the overly political and polarized atmosphere on campus; and - this made up most of his conservative views - he identified as fiscally conservative and pro-Reaganomics, and overall was inspired by the Reagan presidency, which he grew up under. He also joined his college’s Young Republicans chapter in 1999.

After a year, he was his college football team’s fourth-best player, and received an athletic scholarship to the University at Buffalo in 2000. Soon after, he decided he wanted to take up law, and joined the University’s School of Law. He recieved his JD from UBSL in 2005, continuing to preform so well academically that Richard was made his graduating class’ valedictorian. Soon after graduating from UBSL, he met Simon Sinclair, the son of a prominent New York politician and uncloseted homosexual. The two began dating soon after, and alongside their personal relationship they developed a professional relationship, with Simon using his personal finances to found the Chautauqua Legal Consultancy Form. The firm, thanks to Simon’s father’s influence, was able to grow to have a clientele that reached across Western New York.

Simon and Richard lead the company for the next several years, becoming well-known members of the New York Bar Association. Towards the beginning of the 2010s, Simon became pestered by the liberal media to run for office as a gay liberal, especially since his father was a long-time, Catholic conservative congressman, and since his father was planning to retire in 2012. However, as a retort to the liberal view that gays could only be liberal, and as a defense of his father, he ran in 2012 as a conservative, and won by a landslide. He hired Richard as his congressional Chief of Staff soon after he took office. Their firm was put into a blind trust, and Simon and Richard were made ex-officio trustees of the firm. Simon would remain in Congress for the next four years, winning the next two elections with a considerable margin and popularity.

In early-2016, Richard met then-Republican presidential candidate Ryan Carter while he campaigned ahead of the Republican primaries in New York. At the time, Carter’s campaign team was in disarray as their campaign manager had been suddenly incapacitated by pneumonia. Richard was able to muster the campaign staff and temporarily reorganize them for the day, a feat Ryan thanked Richard for before he returned to Jamestown. A few months later, after coming back to the Mid-Atlantic to campaign ahead of the New Jersey primary, Ryan visited Richard again and informed him that the position of Campaign Manager had just opened and - having still remembered his one-day performance in April - he wanted him to be his new Campaign Manager. Richard enthusiastically accepted the appointment in a still-discussed-to-this-day-awkward hug; his appointment was announced two days later. Richard served dually as his husband’s chief of staff and as Carter’s campaign manager, he remained as the former till January 29, and the later until Inauguration Day.

For the first week after Inauguration Day, Richard returned to Jamestown to help assist with the beginning of Simon’s third term. However, soon after Richard was delivered a message from the Office of the President, informing him that he appointed as White House Chief of Staff. Richard was sworn in on February 2, 2017. Since his service began, he has dutifully served the President at the best of his ability; facilitated the selection of various presidential appointees; mediated the early domestic and foreign issues of Carter’s First Hundred Days; and has even acted as the President’s advisor and advocate of LGBT causes.

Appearance: Here
Party Affiliation: Republican (1988-present)

Main Strengths: Strong-willed, confident; vocal patriot; devout Christian family man; loud speaker; close to the President
Main Weaknesses: Outspoken; considered mildly homophobic/islamophobic by liberal masses; lack of social media presence (relies on staffers)
Biography:
Richard Cowley was born and raised up in Columbus, Indiana, the second of four children of Nancy Jane-Cowley and Edward Prince Cowley, Irish Catholics. Richard was raised very religiously, thanks to his mother, who took her children to Church twice a week, making sure not to miss Mass even for illness. This had an effect on Richard, who remained religious and churchgoing for the rest of his life. While his father, and most of his paternal family for that matter, were auto mechanics - well-known locally - Richard was inspired by his maternal uncle, Julian Prince, a Sergeant in the Indiana State Police at the time, later Deputy Sheriff of the Bartholomew County Sherrif's Office. When he graduated High School and enrolled into Hanover College at 18, he studied PolSci and Pre-Law, graduating with a Master's in either in 1988. While at Hanover, he joined the Phi Gamma Delta Tau fraternity and became President of it in 1985.

Upon graduation, his Uncle hired him as a patrolman in the Bartholomew County Sheriff's Office. For the next few years, Richard developed a reputation as a police officer. His police strategy was shaped primarily by religion, he believed that - spiritually and behaviorally - people could be reformed, and so he believed in criminal rehabilitation; however he also believed that since criminals disrespected authority, rehabilitative treatment should be soft, but a type of tough love; he also viewed that police should mingle with their civilians, as not to perpetrate police stereotypes, and his single-handed creation of community events with police officers gave him considerable recognition. His police conduct could be described as "fabled", and that lead to his appointment as Commissioner of the 42nd District of the Indiana State Police in 1994. He held this position for the next four years, gaining considerable popularity among the Indianan police and civilian community, and even met with the then-incumbent Lieutenant Governor as a ten-man delegation discussing state police reform in 1996.

In 1997, encouraged by his popularity throughout Bartholomew County from his decade of police service, Richard announced he would be running for public office, as State Representative of the 59th District. Over the next several months, he campaigned far and wide in the boundaries of his district, hosting eighteen rallies and town hall meetings, using up to $2,400,000 in campaign finances, and meeting with nearly 10,000 constituents. Come November of '98, Richard was elected by 66.4% of his district's electorate. Richard was assigned to the Indian House Courts and Criminal Code Committee, promoting police budgetary, disciplinary, and doctrinal reform. For the next two terms, Richard became a well-known member of the State House and was respected for some of his views by either party. This popularity among the government and the civilian population accelerated his career drastically. Richard was set to be re-elected for term after term after term, but after the tragic 9/11 attacks in 2001, and the establishment of the DHS soon after, Richard became inclined to be apart of the move to secure the domestic tranquility of his constituents.

After months of leveraging his political capital, Richard was appointed by the first Executive Director of the Indian DHS as a member of the Indiana Counter-Terrorism and Security Council. He served as a member of the Council for the next several years. After three years of dutiful service, and after the Executive Director resigned to become the federal Director of the DHS, Richard was appointed by the incumbent Indianan Governor as the Executive Director of the IDHS. Richard's directorial service had its low moments, especially as he was criticized as discriminating towards Muslim citizens in his counter-terror policies. This had little effect on his popularity, however, and in 2008 he was able to lead a successful gubernatorial campaign, being elected by 66.7% of the Indianan electorate.

Richard's governorship was characterized as uniquely socially conservative, religious, and nationalist. Richard controversially sponsored conversion therapy programs, medical policies that were seen as discriminating towards transgender individuals, and intelligent design in school. Government-based/sponsored revenue for non-Christian institutions was cut by Richard, pitting himself against the Indianan Muslim-American community. Welfare, abortion, same-sex marriage, economic regulations, and gun control were all harshly opposed by Richard's governorship; police, the state national guard, education, free-market policies, and unions were among the most exalted subjects under Richard.

He would go on to be popularly re-elected in 2012, receiving 71.4% of the votes, and once more in 2016, with 62.8% of the vote.

In late-2015, soon after Ryan Carter's announcement of his intention to run as President for the Republican Party, Richard met Ryan at the Victoria National Golf Course. The two sparked a relationship, especially due to their compatible patriotic and moderate socially conservative views, that grew until Ryan announced his intention to make Richard his running mate in February of 2016. The two went on to campaign individually across the country, swaying voters throughout the Midwest, South, and Industrial America. The 2016 Presidential Election, after he and Ryan had been nominated by the RNC, resulted in their victory - both popularly and among the EC - and they were sworn in as the 45th POTUS and 48th VPOTUS.

Other Info: He has three children, a 21-year-old daughter named Charlotte; a 19-year-old son named Henry; and a 16-year-old son named Julian. His wife of twenty-three years is Karen Pence, who served as Deputy Campaign Manager during Charles Groves' congressional campaign, and Secretary to the Speaker of the House from 2006-2012 when Groves went on to become the State House Speaker, before retiring from politics. He is an avid golfer like the President. Even though he is a Catholic soc-con, he has a friendly relationship with the Chief of Staff.

I doubt it. Considering most of your characters are epitomes of you, and that the special touches I added to your app made him more of a stringent republican, and he is comfortable with his VP, who is a Mike Pence counterpart, I'd say a democrat is very
Unlikely to be chosen as a cabinet level official. If anything a Softcore, simply fiscon/moderate Republican like my guy is more likely.

Precisely. I' understand the climate change statistics, how important environmental conservation is, yadayada, yet I'm a soccon and republican. If I can exist, so can another, and another could be the Republican Secretary of Energy.

I think the precedent should be set that Democrats aren't technically banned from being applied for, but seeing this is a Republican administration they'd be uncommon. A more junior or low level staffer, should should have the curricula vitae for the position, could be a Democrat. Or they could be an inverted Ainsley Hayes (from The West Wing). Also, if someone like Omarosa could be hired by someone like Trump, then it is furthermore not impossible to see a democrat, but likely to be lower ranking.

Nation Name: Vaquas

Roleplay example link: Washington Political RP

Character Name: Anita J.S. Bennett

Character Gender: Female

Character Age: 54 (Born January 1, 1963)

Character Height: 5'6

Character Weight: 120 lbs

Character Position(s): United States Ambassador to Israel (2001 - 2006)
United States Senator from Nebraska (2009 - 2017)
69th Secretary of State (2017 - )

Appearance:
Image

Party Affiliation: Republican Party

Main Strengths: Well Respected within the Republican Party, Good Public Speaker, Experienced and Independent

Main Weaknesses: Overly Ambitious, Questionable Financial Ties, Characterized as an "Islamaphobe"

Biography: Anita Scott was born to a Pastor and a homemaker in Omaha, Nebraska, living with her large family of 3 brothers and 2 sisters. The youngest of them, Anita pressed herself hard in school and through work in order to receive attention from her parents, who displayed unfortunate favouritism towards the elder children. Reserved in her youth, Anita's life was focused on leaving Omaha, and in Senior year, she was accepted into her first choice of school, Washington University in St. Louis. It was there she met her husband, and the two were married in 1984 after 2 years of Dating and a year of engagement. She graduated in 1985, having volunteered on the Reagan reelection and John Ashcroft election campaigns in 1984 and been active in campus Republican groups until graduation.

She gained employment in now Governor Ashcroft's office, where she obtained a senior staff position in 1989 after helping to coordinate his reelection strategy. She became Ashcroft's Chief of Staff in 1995 following his successful campaign for United States Senate, a head-turning development given her gender and age, while at the same time completing her Masters in Comparative Politics and starting a family. In 2001, she was tapped by Bush, at the encouragement of Ashcroft, to become the U.S. Ambassador to Israel, a post she accepted and held until her resignation in 2006 due to serious health problems afflicting her parents back in Omaha, where she moved back to. The two would succumb to Cancer and Liver Disease in 2007, leaving their youngest daughter to grieve along with her family.

In 2008, having recovered from her loss and entered work as a Professor at Creighton University, Bennett was pushed by some GOP elements to run for the Senate Seat left vacant by a retiring Democratic Incumbent, a move she initially resisted, but eventually caved into, entering the primary late and winning with a slim plurality of only 34.2% of the vote against 6 challengers. She would face off against a male democrat in the general election, and win with 59% of the vote. In 2014, she was reelected with an even higher percentage of the vote, with 63% of Nebraskans casting a vote in her direction. During her time in the Senate, Anita sat on the Foreign Relations Committee and was a prolific sponsor of Pro-Israel and Pro-Farm legislation in the chamber.

In Mid-2015, Bennett announced her campaign for the Presidency of the United States, a central theme of her campaign being bringing the spirit of the heartland into Washington and reintroducing common sense measures into the conversation. Bennet would ultimately carry the state of Iowa in the primaries, but would drop out following Super Tuesday after a dismal showing in every state except Minnesota, making her the first female candidate to carry a state in a Republican Primary, but a loser nonetheless. She would endorse Senator Ryan Carter in her dropout speech, and would prove an effective surrogate in states like Iowa in the general election. She would be considered and vetted for VP, but ultimately decided against in favor of Indiana Governor Richard Cowley. President Carter would instead nominate her as Secretary of State and she would be confirmed 53 - 45 in the United States Senate.

Other Info: In an interfaith marriage to husband David Bennett, a Physician and Reform Jew. Twin children, Christopher and Millicent Bennet (age 26), the former serving as an Air Force Officer and the latter finishing up Medical School. She is a Republican target of the Alt-Right movement, as they view her husband, campaign finance situation, and experience with Israel as evidence that she is "owned" by Jewish interests. Methodist and Gun Owner.
