Backstory

The German Empire. A name that defines power and prestige the world over. Even in the shadows of the defeat suffered in 1918, the Empire continued on with the Kaiser refusing to abdicate. Then in the 1930’s Hitler rose to power, though he became Reichskanzler he never would take the mantle of Fuehrer, contained by the Kaiser’s authority. The SS turned from his henchmen into loyalists of the Kaiser by the 1940’s as the real-life National Socialist Workers Party morphed into a pro-monarchist and pro-nationalist front. Hitler would conduct his peaceful expansion by Anschluss of Austria, Czechoslovakia, and Memel. In 1939 war came once more; except, not from Germany. But from the Soviet Union. Stalin invaded Poland on September 22nd, 1939 in revenge for the Russian defeat during the Polish Independence War in the immediate aftermath of the Great War. Ceasing this moral high ground and support of the French and British in regards to Polish nationality. An Alliance of British, German, and French armies pushed the Soviets back and inflicted a stinging defeat of Stalin.

Following this Germany regains its pre-WW1 territory in the East and the rest of Poland is used to create a puppet state of Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. The Soviet Union withdraws into itself facing turmoil from its devastating defeat. The British Empire starts to decay however the German’s retain control of their possessions through the creation of a Federation of territories much akin to the later British Commonwealth. The only real difference being more invested authority in the government back in Berlin. This more equalized footing, however, does prevent the large scale independence movements that would plague the British, French, Portuguese, and Dutch Empires during the second half of the 20th century.

The US grows in power following a successful war against Japan following the latter's attack on Pearl Harbor in response to an oil embargo placed on it by the USA. Now, decades later in the year 2020, during a flight from Stuttgart to Berlin, Kaiser Wilhelm IV and his wife, Anna, died in a horrific airplane crash in the middle of the night. Thus leaving their 20-year-old daughter to rule the Empire and their 18-year-old son rattled and confused along with a whole court now finding themselves under the control of an untested leader.

Description (Anything not shown in picture):
Height: 170cm
Weight: 135
Voice (Describe how it sounds): Smooth

Position: Kaiserin (Empress
Title/Titles: Kaiserin of the German Empire, Queen of Prussia

Short Bio: Amelia was born in Hohenzollern Schloss on December 25th, 1999 to Kaiser Wilhelm IV and Kaiserin Anna of Bavaria. The Crown Princess would quickly excel in her studies of science and like her forebear, Victoria Louise has a penchant for a militaristic side, unlike her other female relatives. Being more at ease in the saddle, driving automobiles, and riding in tanks than sitting in fancy ball gowns listening to the latest gossip. Amelia graduated from secondary school with honors and went on to attend Humboldt University in Berlin. Whereby she was working on a degree in physics when she learned of the tragic events that took both of her parents away. Amelia had never expected to ascend to the throne. She always assumed that she would be passed over for her younger brother, Wilhelm, when such a time would come. But never the less she now found herself coronated as Kaiserin and the head of the German nation.
Personality: Amelia publically is extroverted and flirtatious. However, this is at best a shield of her own doubts. For she would rather enjoy being alone or surrounded by a small group of friends than the day to day constant socializing demanded of a monarch.

I guess my character will be a minister of war, I would imagine it is still under the influence of the German Empire, is Warsaw still in it's borders

It does have a constitution, a war ministry, and not a parliament in the British sense. The Reichstag is the German equivalent.

Position: Reichsminister of Economics and Finance
Title/Titles: Former CEO of CreditSuisse, Former Dean of the University of Berlin, Reichsminister

Short Bio: Konstanz, Germany was a picturesque town on the border with Switzerland, it was here the young Adolph spent his infant years, his father was a watch maker and wanted the best for his only child. When Adolph was 6 years old his father moved to Zurich, where he became a watchmaker for Rolex, here his family really came into its own, showing its true potential. His father rose to high ranking job on the design team for Rolex soon making six figures a year, meanwhile his wife became a well respected university teacher at the university of Switzerland. It was not Adolph's original intention to enter finance, when he was growing up he wanted to become a sports announcer, but these dreams faded when reality hit him. He soon came to absorb a lot of knowledge about economics and finance. When he was 18 he attended the University of Berlin back in his home country of Germany. Here he was a backward student, who often had trouble seeing eye to eye with his teachers. He dropped out after 3 years, and went back to Switzerland, it was on this train ride back home he met a peculiar man, the two men ended up wrapped up in a conversation, apparently this man had gone through the same situation as Adolph when he was younger.

He talked about the current banking economic situation of Europe, sharing his views and often agreeing with the principles of Bismarcks Realpolitik. After several hours of talking about himself the other man introduced himself, little did he know, but Adolph had been talking to the then president of Credit Suisse, one of the largest banks and stock companies, a close second to Duestchebank. The man saw the potential in Adolph and offered him a job on the board of directors, as his old Chief of Marketing had just retired. Adolph agreed and before he knew it he was a well respected banker among the business world. He was able to find numerous gaps in the Asian and American markets that helped expand Credit Suisse banking influence outside of Europe. When the old CEO retired Adolph became the new one, and saw a top down reorganization of the company that made it wildly more efficient. However the old man, that had talked with Adolph on that train ride had become frail and old, one morning on a fateful day he just didn't get out of bed. With him dead, the presidency of the corporation past to the mans Son, who wasn't nearly as fond of Adolph as his father was. With no where to go, Adolph went back to Berlin, he was given a job in the economics department of the University and began to study and teach economics. He created his own school of thought, between the Chicago and Keynsian schools, known as the Berlin School of Economic Thought. Several books later his policies and suggestions began to be taken up by the government. On his 54th birthday, he got a surprising phone call from the Kaiser, he wanted him to become the Reichsminister of Finance, after much deliberation he agreed to leave the university bringing some of his closest colleagues and best students with him to reorganize the Finance system of the country. His friend Klaus Spitze became the head of the Imperial Reserve Bank and he created a new circle of Economics ministers. Reform after Reform curbed a government debt crisis, using microeconomic management to improve the economic situation, unlike the previous ministers Adolph believed in managing things from a Microeconomic level and not the Macroeconomic level, believing that looking into every little detail was more important than the big picture.

NS Name: Great Confederacy of Commonwealth States
Character name: Uri Seyss-Inquart, Count of Salzburg
Age: 53
Picture:
Image

Description: A tall man with a regular, maybe even slightly slender build, slightly hunched shoulders and his hands always firmly behind his back.
Height: 1.90M
Weight: 80Kg
Voice: Like a radio host reading a part from his favourite novel. Soft, flowing, never raised but always audible, and slow.

Position: Direktor der Reichssicherheitshauptamt (RSHA)
Title/Titles: Count of Salzburg

Short Bio: Uri was born to Frederick Seyss-Inquart, son of Ingeborg Carolina Augusta Seyss-Inquart, who was the daughter of Arthur Seyss-Inquart, first count of Salzburg. Arthur played a pivotal role in the anschluss of Austria into the German empire, and as such was rewarded with a noble title from the emperor himself. However, despite the honours given by the emperor, Seyss-Inquart always remained more of a Hitlerite, having stronger feelings towards national-socialism and ethnic, racial nationalism than loyalty towards this foreign monarch. This idea was one that would persist in the family for generations, with the subsequent family members all sharing a loyalty to the German master race, even if the Nazi party itself didn't follow those ideas openly anymore. There was indeed an intense dislike for the emperor, whom the Hitlerites saw as weak due to his birth defect and his losing of the war. Even so, Seyss-Inquart joined the imperial government, and was made Reichsprotektor of Ukraine while the German occupation of the territory lasted, where he got a name for being an effective, if ruthless, administrator.

Ingeborg Seyss-Inquart was less interested in Reich politics than her father, at least publicly so. Women were expected to be child-bearing mothers, not politically involved. Even in social circles, though, she made a case for better women's rights, which she could get away with as countess and daughter of Arthur. She was an often-seen guest in Berlin, where she mingled with the highest of society, both talking politics and securing jobs for ambitious cousins, and later her son Frederick. Frederick turned out to be more even-tempered than his grandfather, living after his mother instead. He was a trained lawyer, after all, and saw the virtue of relaxed statesmanship. He didn't hold high positions, but the positions he did hold (including Reichsminister for Culture at one time) he performed diligently. Diligence would be one of the few traits he would pass on to his son.

Uri was born in 1966 in the Vienna Central Hospital. As an arian Seyss-Inquart, he was told from birth that he was meant for great things. Failure was never an option, a strict discipline that his father and grandmother instilled in him. He grew up learning from every mistake, but he also grew up knowing the reverence his peers were supposed to show him. Schools encouraged hierarchy among the children to see who would come out on top, although this was usually determined by lineage. Even in the high-class noble schools Uri went to, he was from one of the proudest lineages, which meant reverence was shown to him from a young age, which he grew to expect.

Uri was more ambitious than his father, and equally as diligent. He started under his father at the ministry of culture, but quickly rose through the ranks. A career bureaucrat, he weaved his way through the Berlin system, working here and there wherever an extra hand was needed. This eventually landed him in the gestapo in the early 2000's, first as commander for the Salzburg contingent, then for Vienna, then for Austria, and after that for Germany. In 2015, Uri finally ascended to the position he had desired for quite some time: Director of the RSHA, directly under the emperor. In 2020, this places him as commander of all police units in Germany, overseeing the investigation of the horrific plane crash of the royal family, as well as under scrutiny for the failure to prevent it.
Personality: Diligent, unforgiving, but reserved and drawn-back.

Character name: Hauptmann Siegfried Robert Karl Freiherr von Görschen
Age: 25 years of age
Image
Description: Has 2nd degree burns across his right arm and upper torso, as well as some scars caused by shrapnel running alongside his chest.
Height: 1.94m
Weight: 84 kg
Voice (Describe how it sounds): Von Görschen used to smoke a lot of cigarettes, which absolutely ruined his voice. He's been raised in an upper class family, and is therefore very eloquent in his way of speaking, but his extremely voice is so hoarse that that mostly goes to waste.

Position: Personal assistant and executive officer of the commander of the 2nd Cavalry Division "Brandenburg"
Title/Titles: Freiherr von Görschen, Hauptmann.

Short Bio:
Siegfried von Görschen was born in the west-German city of Aachen, on the 23rd of April, 1995. His father was the head of the noble dynasty of von Görschen, a Prussian house that served as high-ranking government officials in the city of Aachen ever since Prussia annexed western Germany after the congress of Vienna. Von Görschen had a bad relationship with his father, a Prussian public official, who believed that Siegfried should follow his ancestors in their choice of occupation. Siegfried was staunchly opposed to filling a seat in public office, as recruitment in the preußisches Heer (Prussian army) was at an all-time low, and he believed that he should make his country proud. So, at the age of seventeen, he went down to the recruitment office and happily applied to become a commissioned officer. Due to his high level private education, he was admitted into the royal military academy in Potsdam. He studied military sciences there until he became 20 years of age, and applied to join the officer's corps.

After getting into trouble with his opinionated and archconservative father, he decided to join the Panzer Korps, as he had a profound interest in the modern combat branches of the army. Paratroopers, tanks, special forces, all interested him, but he decided to go with the Panzer korps, as propaganda and recruitment campaigns swayed his opinion. Siegfried was on the brink of losing the commission that he had received, as his parents did not have the funds to financially support Siegfried's extremely successful military career. He had to be transferred to a self-propelled artillery battery serving alongside an armoured battalion. He didn't have to give up his position as Offizier der Panzerwaffe (tank officer), but his "demotion" to this artillery unit made it so that he would likely not see any "real" combat.

Fast forward one year: Fähnrich Siegfried von Görschen finishes his education, and becomes a troop leader of 2nd Troop, III. Kompanie, 5. Husaren-Regiment von Prittwitz, 2. Kavallerie-Division "Brandenburg". Unhappy with his position as commander of three self-propelled artillery vehicles, he continues his education as an officer, hoping to receive the field grade of captain in less than three years. On a cold winter night in a forest near the Belgian city of Stoumont, in German-Occupied Franco-German Wallonia, Von Görschen's resting troop is assaulted by Walloon communist revolutionaries, who attack Leutnant von Görschen with boiling liquids and hand-crafted explosives. The troop repels the attackers, and, while going through incredible pain, Von Görschen orders the bombardment of the small Belgian town of Malmedy. Von Görschen knew that the German barracks were situated outside of the town, so the shelling wouldn't influence German troops. While waiting for a medical evacuation, the guns blasted.

Instead of getting a court martial for his reckless behaviour, Von Görschen received widespread attention from the press, which made him a national figurehead for anti-communist activities in Wallonia. He went along with it, as his public image could potentially get him closer to a promotion. This idea proved to be very true, as the commanding officer of the 2nd cavalry division, one of the units in Belgium, had asked him to become an executive officer of his, supporting him in strategic decisions and advising him on administrative matters. Von Görschen jumped at it, and was promoted to the rank of captain. He's now stationed in the German-Belgian town of Eupen, with his Generalmajor superior, closely watching the Belgian political landscape.

He's been in the German newspapers before, and if the Belgians keep kicking, he will continue to be in them.

Personality: Is very reserved and introverted because of the attack carried out on his life, and the light PTSD that came with it. Would do anything for Germany, though, and is extremely loyal to the military and the Kaiser.
