Well, it makes sense for them to Germanize city names, especially because Koblenz was where Matthes proclaimed the Rhenish Republic if I remember correctly. They would have changed the names of the cities, but wouldn't you be erasing Prussian history by renaming it "Garde du Korps"? Just because "Corps" and "Korps" mean two completely different things?

Afterwards, they had to get by and manage to set up a small bakery shop in Berlin - while her own parents, had been modest white-collar workers. While having some German ancestry helped in opening several doors to her - she is still hampered by her heritage, of being from the Baltics and having inferior Slavic blood in her veins - a fact that has denied her a higher position throughout her life. Making Angelika feel both bitter and driving her more inward to try and excel - in an effort to discover something amazing and cement herself both a title and a position of authority.

Thus, she was forced to head into politics - under the aegis of being the youngblood of the next generation. Smart, wise, and Germanized at that - having managed to work herself up as a Junior Advisor, a mostly yes-man whom mostly gets coffee and copies - although getting her opportunity to climb higher, with the complete disarray after the death of the Kaiser and his wife.
