The Twelve Isles
February 13, 1928

Image

The journey from the Embassy in Aclus to the Twelve Isles did not take long, as the nations were very close to each other. Crown Prince Yasuhito looked out at the beautiful bay, with great modern ships and bustling port. Guided by Twelve Isles coastal ships, the ship began docking at the massive dockyards of The Twelve Isles. Soon afterwards, 10 Kenpeitai Officers wearing suits and armed with FN Model 1910 pistols marched down to the docks and after taking positions, signaled that the docks were safe. Security was tight due to increased tensions with Aydinir and the rest of the Central Alliance so although the letter was one of the highest secrecy, security would be higher than usual.

Flanked by 8 Marines of the Special Naval Landing Forces and 20 Nihonese Imperial Guards marched the Crown Prince, several aides, and Imperial Food Tasters. This way nothing could go wrong on the way to the Imperial Palace of the Twelve Isles. They walked towards the Isles procession, with the Crown Prince smiling warmly to his hosts.

And as they continued, he eyed the massive and imposing architecture of the Empire of the Twelve Isles.

From:Emperor Hirohito; Emperor of Nihon and its Territories

Dear Emperor Alexander Cartwine,

My brother should be arriving in your great country soon. And I am very grateful for your hospitality for my brother. I too hope this conflict is a short one, and it is the beginning of a strong relationship between our great nations, which both profit.

Best, Emperor Michinomiya Hirohito

March 1928

A top secret order has been sent out to Wargloria for 5,000 HAG06 Semi Auto Rifles, 100 7.5 cm Infanteriegeschütz 24s, 2,000 LMG15s, and 1,000 MG08s all for 3,355,000 worth in yen.

Reports of Breyburgian Forces in Balsagun have been recognized, and although Nihonese forces are greater than what is in the region, more forces are being sent to defend the forts. The Imperial Army of the Provisional Government of Manchuko is currently training and elements of the Southern Army Group have also been dispatched. A fallback line is in the process of being built, far behind the lines in the mountains, which are much easier to defend. With bunkers, barbed wire, mines, traps and others, Manchuko was prepared.

The offer proposed by Crimetopolis had been accepted, and a warning of the coming threat has been sent. Additionally talks between Ruskland and Nihon have started on creating a formal alliance.

The Confederacy

The arrival of the Confederate navy at Standpoint signaled the movement of the Army of the West. More specifically, the movement of a single corps and its supporting elements into Nihonese Shishiri as to bolster defenses there, as well as the movement of the rest (two corps and their supporting elements) into transports, where they would be shipped off to mainland Nihon to improve what the Nihonese had built there. After they arrived there, they would assemble a labourer force of around 140k men, to build Rusklandr (aka the best) fortifications. These workers were mostly from Aclusian Indianum, also known as Yindrai to the Aydiniri. After the fleet refuelled, they took off for mainland Nihon, escorting the troop transports. They also would meet up with the Islander fleet, something they would be looking forward to, as they would be doing naval exercises along with the combined allied navies. They arrived at Nihon at the last day of March, and set out to work almost immediately, almost as they enjoyed a two day rest.

Although, that wasn’t all that was happening. At the home front, a naval force consisting of all that stayed back was assembling. This fleet consisted of the XKW Leviathan, XKW Unbowed of the Leviathan-class Super Dreadnought Battleships, the Icespear-class Super Dreadnought XKW Icespear, the XKW Emperor Iohannes, XKW Unbroken of the Emperor Iohannes-class, and all of the Warhall, Gullstadt, and Monstrous class Dreadnoughts. The Oleshye-class Battleships stationed in Ironton would also be used, as these would do patrols (and if war came, raids) in neighbouring waters. As for the remaining members of the fleet being assembled, it included all Kongo class Battlecruisers, all Deep One and Duelist class Destroyers, and the remaining 100 Starspawn submarines.

As for things that didn’t involve the military as much, the military think tank once again something of note, a prototype torpedo. Although tests still showed that it was weaker than most torpedoes (except in yield, which was the largest out of all torpedoes in the world), all these weaknesses came from errors and prototype quirks. “If these are ironed out, we could be seeing the obsolescence of battleships.” A scientist had said, although many have brushed this statement off as mere hyperbole, but the potential was real (it could be carried on carrier based planes, among other things), and thus funding came. “Get this done by the end of the year if you can.” The emperor had said to them. Work began on early April.

Speaking of that think tank, the last of its research bases had been completed. These are, from A to Z: Armiger Base, Baikal Base, Compor Base, Dassault Base, Erlon Base, Faust Base, Gauss Base, Herbert Base, Iridium Base, Jongleur Base, Kormoran Base, Ludwig Base, Mayasura Base, Nevermore Base, Onslaught Base, Polybius Base, Quill Base, Requirem Base, Sparrowhawk Base, Targe Base, Union Base, Vendetta Base, Wenceslas Base, Xymphon Base, Yannow Base, and Zelenograd Base. Located mostly in Sibir and other isolated places, their existence was kept a closely guarded secret, not even their allies would know about them, or their own people.

To the Dragon Islands

The 94th, 88th, 33rd, 53rd, 81st, 121st, 103rd, 72nd, 40th, 43rd, 67th, 98th, 102nd, 13th, and 5th Infantry Divisions of the Norcourtian "Lucky" 7th Army, were to be deployed back in the Dragon Islands on leave along with their escort fleet, as much of the force needed to stand garrisoned in Leersog, were unnecessary, and eating up supplies. The well equipped new Imperial Norcourtian Army, were strong, and eager for whatever may come.

Back in Sicalia, Maranossos had finally cemented his place in power, as he was now Emperor of the new Norcourtian Empire, he was able to do any thing in any which way that he pleased, except he didn't. Trying to be viewed as a more benevolent and fair leader, as was his father Alistair Caneius, Maranossos began his rule building housing, recreational centers, town structures and whatnot in the newly Norcourtian lands of war-torn Leersog in order to gain favor and support by his new subjects. He had quelled tensions on the borders of Warglorian Zeeland, and had reinstated the science research bases of Guildur. This all of course, would overshadow what had been done militarily, as much had been done, only to be hidden from the public eye. Research on new modern weaponry and armour had begun. The Sicalia Motors Company had showed off it's latest designs to the Emperor in secret, and perhaps new battle tanks would soon see service.

Docks District
Townhill, Mournly Isle, Home Isles
Emperor Alexander Cartwine

Alexander stood by his sister as the Nihonese ship pulled into port. Now they only had to wait for the Warglorians to arrive. Anastasia rubbed her eye and yawned as the ship went about its finale measures to take the prince off. The Nihonese soldiers paraded about like preening birds, though she supposed that wasn't so different from the escort of Imperial Guards they had come with, all trust up in their evergreen uniforms, standing at stiff and elegant attention. She figured it was as much an excuse to show off between the soldiers as it was to protect their respective rulers. Measure dicks as to who was the more professional, the more elite, the more elegant, the more handsome. She just wished her brother would get that memo. Alexander looked like he always did, vaguely thuggish. His boxing was certainly at fault for that, and even now in his fancy clothes waiting to meet the crown prince of a prospective ally he still sported a shiner and bloody knuckles, a bandage over his nose.

As the prince approached, the Imperial Guards performed a fast maneuver. One by one, they stomped their left feet and moved to take up positions in a line leading to Alexander and Anastasia. Coming to attention again in their new positions, each one spun their rifles before holding them perfectly perpendicular to their chests, facing up and down their bodies and an inch from their chests. With a second stamp of their feet, all in unison this time, they all bellowed a cacophonous "Whooa!" before snapping their heads to face the Prince while Alexander and Anastasia strode between them to greet him.

"Prince Yasuhito," said Alexander as he approached, his conversational voice the quiet yet confidant tone that was practically genetic for the Cartwines. Coupled with their typically dark hair and dark eyes, the quiet and reserved personalities made them a particularly imposing presence most of the time. When Alexander came face to face with Prince Yasuhito, he made an awkward yet earnest bow to him, before straightening up and extending his hand to shake. "I apologize if I wasnt able to execute your peoples bow correctly, Ive spent most of my life here in the Isles and only recently learned about greeting customs for your people, in preparation for your visit. Anyhow, I am Emperor Alexander Cartwine, and this is my sister, Princess Anastasia Cartwine."

Anastasia smiled at Prince Yasuhito, a polar opposite of her brother in everything but looks. Anastasia though she looked like a Cartwine, had inherited her fathers eyes and the personality of an Arenginian cossack. Where her brother was dour and serious, she was more often than not carefree and sociable. "Its a pleasure to meet you," she said, executing a bow as if she had been born and raised Nihonese, before straightening back up and extending her hand to shake in a way that was at once both ladylike and forceful. "We are so happy to be able to host you here in our nation, and in the Imperial Palace. Its a shame we must meet under such dire circumstances, but its wonderful we get to meet regardless."
Proud member of the Federation Of Isles.

Vien, Rannoria.
On the Southern Front
April, 1928

Image

The sound of artillery shells bursting in the distance woke him from his sleep. He laid there, in his cot, for what was only a moment but felt like an eternity. The sound of a shrill whistle entered the air, and he jumped to his feet. All around him his comrades did too, men of the Federation’s RSK, here fighting in Rannoria to defend the Rannorian Syndicalists. He was clothed, as were his fellow soldiers, and all he had to do was to grab his rifle and his helmet hanging on the bedpost. The lanterns light flickered, the only light illuminating the cramped sleeping quarters that had been dug into the side of the trench. On wooden duckboards he moved out to the exit, a doorway made of dirt and wooden boards covered with a cloth door.

He exited out into the trench, the sky was dark, it was still night. The bastards were pulling another night raid. Fucking Warglorians, don’t they need sleep too? Flares shot into the air, makeshift illumination attempts by the RSK. His boots slapped on the duckboards and his shoulder bumped into one of the Rannorian freedom fighters walking in the other direction. Originally the RSK and Rannorians had held different sectors, but with all the chaos the two forces were largely mixed along the line.

He ducked his head and ran into the dugout, his position. A 37mm gun was there, along with its crew, his squad. His Sergeant gave a half hearted beratement for his lateness before ordering him to grab a shell. The explosive was in and the gun was sighted, and with a pull it bucked sending a shockwave and a round down range. A Warglorian tank, one of the new ones that nobody had seen em use until they invaded Rannoria, went up in flames as its engine was blown to bits. The crew cheered, one of them put a tally down on a box of ammo. Another round in and another one sent downrange, this time a group of soldiers was getting too close so Sarge decided to send em a HE round as a present.

A grenade landed in the dugout and he lunged for it. He tossed it out and it exploded in the air, sending a piece of shrapnel into the loaders arm. He and another grabbed their rifles and looked over to find a handful of Warglorians attempting to approach the trench. He raised his rifle to his shoulder and fired, a young one with a shiny helmet went down. He felt the force before the sting, splayed out on his back as the metal began to sting. The bayonet was lodged deep in his gut now, and he was staring up into the face of a very angry Warglorian, whose head was soon split open by a round from Sarges pistol. There were shouts of “Medic!” as he held his hand to the wound, feeling the hot blood come out. He looked up to see his comrades kill the last of the Warglorians and retake their positions, Sarge coming over to drag him back. Before he lost connection with the world, he could see the gun fire and light another Warglorian tank up, and he smiled as the medics grabbed him and put him on the stretcher, and he went to sleep.

-MILITARY EVENTS

Formation of Nasarian Marine Corps Formation of one regiment of marines to increase our maritime security. Funds totaling £3 million has been allocated for the establishment of the Nasairan Marine Corps. This comes with the appointment of General Steffon Maro as the first commandant.

Result: Nasarian Marine Corps formed

Brigadier General Steffon Maro stood over the parade field conducting inspections on 1st company marines. The goal that Brigadier General Steffon Maro had for the newly formed Nasairan Marine Corps was to turn it into an elite fighting force, one that would be feared and respected throughout the world.

The Nasarian Marine Corps was only composed of one regiment, numbering 3,600 marines. The sight that befell Brigadier General Steffon Maro was a force that was under trained and under disciplined. However that was going to change under Brigadier General Steffon Maro command. A grueling drill and marksman ship was going to be practiced daily to instill the military bearing that would become the cornerstone and defining characteristic of the Nasairan Marine Corps.

Formation of the Airforce Formation of the Nasairan Air Force, which includes 70 fighter planes. With the help of advisors from Aclus, the fighter corps is divided into 3 squadrons and formed into 1 wing (1st fighter wing) also known as the fighting one. General Aerin Atrius has been appointed as the first General of the Airforce. The airforce is to be expanded to 5,000 aircraft by 1937.
Result: Nasarian Airforce formed

10 year naval plan The rising tensions in the area made the need for a strong navy ever more present. Admiral Varus Callonus had recently accepted the appointment as Admiral of the navy from the emperor and prime minister. Admiral Varus Callonus submitted his plan to achieve a 600 ship fleet, this plan became to be known as the 10 year plan. In it, it outlined the locations of 9 additional navy bases along with 6 additional navy yards.
Result: the 10 year plan is accepted and put into action.

In the mountainous region stretching from Landsteicher and Confield up to Louis-Anne, massive construction works began. The mountains were being turned into a massive series of defensive positions, with forts, bunkers, trench lines, artillery, and stockpiles being built into and around the mountains in case of a massive foreign invasion. A series of partially connected forts would be built inside of the mountains with the capacity to hold massive amounts of supplies, soldiers, and artillery. The construction would take years, perhaps more than a decade, but the feat would be a marvelous one, providing the nation with a massive advantage in the event of a defensive war on Hoosier soil.

A new plan for the Hoosier navy expansion was put into place. A ten year plan was commenced to construct the Hoosier fleet was began, with domestic orders being used to fill whatever ships they could, but outsourcing to other nations (predominantly Manticore) was used when needed. The ten year plan would call for a total of four aircraft carriers, fifty capital ships, eighty cruisers, two hundred corvettes, one hundred fifty destroyers, and two hundred fifty submarines. Many of the ships had already been constructed or ordered, and the remaining ships would be ordered and built over the next ten years.

Ports within the new territory that was once Newne Carribean and Hallfurt were being expanded, with a greater emphasis placed on the ports in Hallfurt, due to their better infrastructure and more stable population. People within what was once Newne Carribean have been assimilating well into Iron Guard Hoosier. The people are grateful for the support from the Totalist government and the stability and security provided by the Hoosier military. The economy in the occupied territory has been steadily recovering, though far from being in a decent state. The local infrastructure has been repaired and rebuilt in many parts of the region and the massive public works has enabled countless people to find work and has aided the economy's growth. Agriculture in the region has made a come back, meaning fewer shipments of food from Hoosier are needed to feed the people. Local Iron Guard organizations have seen large turn out and participation from the local populace, further legitimizing the Hoosier rule. Stability has, finally, come to the Carribean people, all thanks to the benevolent rule of the Hoosiers.

Iron Guard Hoosier
City of Indianapolis
1928, October 12th

Image

The sky was cloudy and a light mist of rain fell on the city of Indianapolis as Eric Stewart, the Marshal of Iron Guard Hoosier, stood on the sidewalk of downtown, surrounded by a detail of Hoosier Iron Shirts and soldiers. Before him was a convoy of three cars, parked along the side of the street, waiting to take him and his dear friend to their waiting reservations at the finest restaurant in the city. Stewart looked around himself, seeing his people, the people of Hoosier, as they walked on the other side of the street towards their personal destinations. Many turned to gawk at the detail of soldiers and the Marshal of their nation. No one was on their side of the street, however, with soldiers posted to prevent anyone from getting too close to the leader of the dominant Indianum power. Stewart drank in the view of the city as people walked from work or to the stores and such in the evening, giving Stewart a sense of pride at the sight of the bustling city. He turned to his guest and said, "How do you like it Oswald? Enjoying the country? What do you think of the birthplace of fascism, the birthplace of Totalism, the birthplace of the idea that will lead both our peoples into a new age of greatness?"

Oswald fixed the shining red Armband that held the symbol of the Aclusian union of fascists. A white lightening Bolt striking through a blue orb, representing the strength and power the Union stood for. Oswald then walked forward as the three black Aclusian made Rolls Royce cars pulled up to the front of the building, awaiting Oswalds and Stewart's entry. "It is beautiful Eric, you didn't lie about that, the people are kind and generous. Hopefully I will be welcomed by them" Oswald replied to Eric as he walked forward , ahead to the sleek black vehicles.

As Oswald drew closer, the doors opened up revealing men in black shirts and holsters that held the same arm band slung around them as Oswald. These men were clean shaven and cut, disciplined soldiers and members of the Aclusian Union of Fascists paramilitary group. The Blackshirts. As they got out they stood to attention, facing Oswald who welcomed their appearance with a front facing arm like Salute , followed by the motto "Perish Maxa". To which the men replied.

Stewart looked at the men as they exited the vehicles and said, "You've got some fine looking men here, my friend. With men like this, I'm sure you'll be able to accomplish good things." He smiled and nudged his friend, "Let's get going. Our wives are waiting." They entered the cars and, as they began to drive down the street, Stewart said, "Reminds me of Armistice Day. The first one, I mean. When you finally came home from the war. Two friends, driving to see their beloveds and share meal like old times. Now, however, we're both powerful men, two men who are doing great things for their people. Nothing more beautiful than that." He chuckled, "Other than my wife, of course."

Oswald chuckled as Eric and him had a good laugh of past memories. "Indeed it does remind me of Armistice day, though only less of the stupidity of public celebration and the presence of bastard Maxtopians" Oswald joked as he recollected himself. As the 2 powerful men talked however, the convoy of Rolls Royce cars came down upon a street to which they stopped for a moment, as a rather large group of people began to cross .

"Funny how traffic follows me, no matter what country I find myself in" said Oswald, as the Blackshirt security and driver kept a open eye on their surroundings.

On both sides of the street however, between the mass of Hoosier citizens going about their day stood 2 men, both in large trenchcoats repelling the rain. These men both in fedoras signalled eachother via looking at eachothers watches, and with a signal of their hands, alerting the other hidden individuals nearby.

One of the men, boldly walked into the middle of the street following the mass of people clearing out. To which he found himself in front of the Front car.
"What the fuck" The driver muttered, as
suddenly the unknown man whipped out an AF-11 Sub machine gun from beneath his clothes then began unloading it in fury.

Round after round pierced the front car, as their doors slung open only to reveal the few that survived the onslaught, jumping out and returning fire with their Webley revolvers.

As the front car took the brunt of the assault, 10 more Assailants began to appear out of the cafe nearby. Opening their pistols against the Blackshirts and Hoosier guards. Oswald and Erics car alongside the back car quickly went into reverse, forming a barricade of cover for their guards to return fire.

Oswald and Eric then took to cover behind the bullet riddled Rolls Royce Car, "Fucking bastards" Oswald said as a fellow Blackshirt guard fell dead beside him.

Grabbing the dead mans Webley revolver, Oswald stood up and fired back. Shouting "Fuck you" as he downed a man rushing the vehicle.
Over time, Eric and Oswald alongside what was left of their Security detail made their stand. Miraculously fending off the assailants and killing a majority, as the local police arrived in full support.

With bodies littering the ground from both sides, one assailant however stayed breathing, sitting down in the nearby alleyway with his back against the wall, holding on to his stomach.
When Oswald had discovered the mess, he signalled to Eric to accompany him.

"Look upon this animal Stewart" Oswald said as he ripped the powerless mans shirt open, revealing the Maxtopian star around his neck.

"These rats have infested the countries of the world, controlling it and bringing our destruction upon us." Oswald sneered, as he cocked the hammer back on his Webley and aimed at the begging and praying mans head.

"No more"

BANG

As the attackers opened up on the convoy of cars, Stewart took cover with Mosely behind car. Several Hoosier soldiers and Aclusian Blackshirts, armed with rifles and pistols, began to return fire as civilians began to panic and run. Stewart followed suit as Mosely began to return fire as well, and he pulled out his personal sidearm, a Webley revolver from his days as a frontline soldier in Ruskland, and fired. He killed two men before being pinned down with the rest of his surviving companions. As the few remaining attackers began to close in, several police cars arrived to the scene.

Hoosier policemen came from behind the attackers and began to fire their shotguns and pistols, taking cover behind their cars. The attackers began to fall, one by one, as they were whittled down by gunfire on all sides.

All of them, except for the one holding his wounds in the alley, were dead within ten minutes of the first shots fired.

Stewart followed Mosely into the alley and watched his friend executed the sole survivor. While he understood the need for the kill, he was shocked by the reasoning. He had known his friend was an avid racist, but never thought it would extend to murder.
Stewart said nothing as they returned to the street, only to be greeted by Hoosier soldiers pouring into the area and locking it down. The two men entered a car that had been brought for them, and they silently entered. It began to drive from the scene, escorted by four armored cars and two trucks full of Hoosier soldiers. They were on their way to the resturant they were supposed to meet their wives at. They would pick the two women up and quickly return to the Capitol building for their own protection. Both men refused to be secured without their wives.

As they drove, Eric looked over to Oswald and finally spoke. "What you did...When you killed that man. I can understand wanting revenge for the attempted assassination, but...you shot him because of his race. I don't...I can't condone that. You're my friend, Oswald, my brother for God's sake, but...I'm worried for you."

Oswald looked into the small mirror that swung down the cars ceiling, combing aside his stray hairs as he tried to make himself much more presentable for his wife. As he did so, Eric sat next to him silent. Tapping his knees with his fingers as he grew the words to contest Oswalds actions.

Eric looked over to Oswald and finally spoke. "What you did...When you killed that man. I can understand wanting revenge for the attempted assassination, but...you shot him because of his race. I don't...I can't condone that. You're my friend, Oswald, my brother for God's sake, but...I'm worried for you."

Eric said in a strained manor, like as a man who had questioned Oswalds own sanity.

"Do I need to remind you old friend the blood we shed on Flahnders field, the comrades we lost in Ruskland was all because of their self righteous greed?"

Oswald then sat back as he let Eric absorb his words, lighting a cigarette in the process.

"The streets of the Aclusian empire have been infested by these animals, you wouldnt wanna see the same for Hoosier aye?"

Stewart shook his head. "Oswald, of course I remember our fallen brothers. Their names and faces are burned into my brain. Allen, Robert, Nicolas...I remember them all, but I don't see how the Maxtopians factor into it. It was a war waged by greedy kings and aristocrats, not some shadow organization made up of an ethnicity. You are straying from our ideology, our beliefs. What makes someone a Hoosier or an Aclusian isn't the color of their skin, it's what they believe, what they live for, what they'll die for." He took a deep breath as he looked out the window, watching Indianapolis speed by, watching as Hoosier soldiers and policemen locked down the city for fear of another attack, not knowing it was meant for only Oswald and not the Hoosier Marshal.

"These men and their group will pay for their crimes, but they'll pay for what they did, not what race they are."

Oswald turned his head to face out the car window, watching the scenery pass as he shook his head in disappointment.
"Stewart, it runs much deeper in Aclus, you'll see" Oswald input at last, as the car ride back was a long and quiet one.

The Aclusian Raj
The Troubles
October 15th, 1928

Image

The winds of social class were changing, and with it brought the death of the once golden age of the Aclusian empire. The scars of the Great War had sent shock waves throughout the regions of Aclusia, striking even at its very core in the home isles. Though it wasn't all the same everywhere, once loyal colonies of the Aclusian crown such as Austrailius and Newfoundland all paid their dues heavily. Thousands of sons and fathers falling on foreign ground, all for the principles of King and Country. Though there was one region that gave their all for a completely different reason.

The Aclusian Raj, or identified by the local elderly populace as the old Aydinirian Kingdom of Yindrai that fell many decades ago in a forgotten war of Aclusian history. The Raj had been the crown jewel of the Empire, daunting its massive manpower with stockpiles of steel, oil and fine silks that funded the Aclusian Empires economy, establishing Aclus as the worlds largest overseas empire. Though this all came at a heavy price when the Great War came along, dragging hundreds of thousands of young Yindraian men to become soldiers and fight for King and country. The bloodshed was rewarded with the normal rights of a Aclusian subject of the crown by his late majesty King George V, though as the war grew longer and violent, it simply was not enough.

The push for the independence of the Aclusian Raj was always considered to be a serious matter to the Empire, however it was always dealt within the chambers of political discussions, usually met with barricades of cause and effects for the Imperial treasury and the economy as a whole. However until the month of October, 1928 that things then resorted to violence.

With the speeches and decrees made by the scholar, S. Radhakrishnan. It was a very well put together act of free speech to the people, thus allowed by law of Free speech, as it did not bring along radical ideas of using violence as the main tool for a push to independence. Marking the man as not a quite important threat, though as a public enemy to the Aclusian grip and influence of the land, so he was met with speeches made by the Prime Minister Stanley Baldwin declaring that Yindrai was a jewel of the Empire, and that it was to be seen as such a equal to every other territory.

Though on a more in depth examination of radicalism, there was another party of natives that had fallen to the use of violence to make people understand their ideals. The Yindraini Liberation Front was now rising in the hearts of workers and laborers all through the country, and with its violent talks of revolution and public outcry, it was then to be declared a Rebel organization. That of which the Aclusian garrison across the country was now tasked with rounding up any suspected members, as well as putting the leaders of the organization, Sajjan Singh and Balraj Azad on a wanted list, as to encourage their own countrymen.

With the arrival of a new decade, the seeds of revolution were now the primary concern of the Empire.

-Mr. Crunus,

I would first like to talk about my appreciation and gratitude for this most generous offer. As far as the scars I received during the war, a unfortunate minor limp on my right leg and the scars inside every other man who served are all that hinder me.

However back on the track of the offer, the field commision of my rank to a Colonel brings me much joy, as I had always longed for command over a regiment. Thus the payment does also benefit my local organization as well as it does the Naiserean armed forces. I shall accept this offer with great respect and gratitude for your majesty, his holiness the emperor of Naisiria.-

Das Kapital Region
Presidential Palace
April 7th, 1928

The spoon made short work of the small white pouch’s contents that had been poured out haphazardly by the president. Bringing the rather piping hot cup of coffee to his parched lips and fried brain, President Marvin Washvelt yelped back in slight shock when his tongue soon became filled with stalactites from the heat of it. He seemed to never learn from this mistake, it being a commonly running gag throughout the parties the president had the misfortune to be invited to for political allies and various fundraisers.
Setting the coffee cup down in a slightly mad huff, he mused through the crinkly pages of the local newspaper, musing through it’s contents. His personal power play in retaking the position of President for a second time worked messily, with some die hard supporters of “Murderous Jack” holing up in an old factory, vowing to fight to the death. Their resistance lasted for about as long as Carriebeanian Artillery Fire flying into a brick and wooden building would last, shattering the structure and putting the “rebellion” down with large scale casualties. It was an attempt for Washvelt to reassert his power as President, with it being made clear that Potters would remain in his current cabinet position.

It was in this second attempt as President that military reforms were actually pushed through the obsessed whining of the politically inexperienced Potters. A slew of new warships were hastily assembled, with the same model of the abstention from big gun capital ships being followed. Of course, this left wiggle room for multiple gunned capital ships of a fourth rate nature to be hammered out in cheap proposals by Congressional and Parliamentarian officials throughout the Winter months of 1928.
By far the largest proponent of such a change was the freshly appointed Naval Minister of Mines Rango Gusteau Montcalm. The Carriebeanian Military had gone through an entire facelift in the terms of administrative departments, now regulating responsibilities to smaller units with expertise in their respective fields for a more organized effort. Montcalm’s ambassadorial bitching and moaning to Congress finally forced them to get off their asses and officially approve a staggering 11.4 million Sais in Naval Expenditure for various projects, including dozens more of smaller warships, the addition of coastal defense ships and even the inclusion of hopelessly outdated but relatively inexpensive floating batteries, intended to broadside enemy vessels like the days of sail, only as unwieldy and slow targets for enemy battleships and armored cruisers if they came across such monstrosities.
An aide entered the room, with Washvelt being uninterested in the new guest before he spoke.

“Sir. Admiral Hood Von Tirpitz and Vice Admirals Prinz of Wall and Prinz Eugene von Bismark are very upset with the recent state of political affairs regarding the capital ships.”
“Oh tell those aging relics to fuck right on off, I’m not one to entertain motions of a second Carriebeanian High Seas Fleet, but one of smaller warships. Just a damn waste of steel.”
“But sir, they have pushed forwards their own grand design plans for battlecruisers, heavy cruisers and light cruisers.”
“Tell them that those will remain nothing but grand design plans. Have these idiots looked out at our coastline, not a whole lot of room for more naval warships is there? We’ve already got seven battlecruisers and 1 pre-dreadnought battleship as capital style warships. What our naval efforts must be focused on is the mass production of smaller, economically more sound warships. Naval craft that merely take weeks or months to build, not entire years. There will be no more battleships or aircraft carriers under this new Washvelt Presidency, that’s that! Hell, I even gave those sons of Poseidon bitches a compromise where we’re getting the Armored Boxes prepared for a full sortie in our naval inadequacies.”

“I refuse to be entertained by such ear tinned motions by this motherfucker that sits here, mocking and belittling the office of president!” A familiar voice spoke with clear vinegary vengeance. Washvelt spun around on his heels to see three naval admirals, clad in traditional naval blue with red long pants, complete with elaborate chests of medals and golden dusted epaulettes on either side.
“Admirals, what an unexpected surprise.”
“You’ve got some nerve proposing these ideas, fucking armored boxes? You’re asking us to be blown up from miles away! It’s a complete waste of resources on such armored vessels! What our fleets really need are more battleships to ensure proper numbers against possible enemy fleets! I propose the construction of two super battleships that will outclass anything that currently floats. I’ve come up with some preliminary estimations and have lobbied Congress to add such ships into a newer naval bill that has authorized the construction of a few dozen warships and tens of trinkets.”

Washvelt was furious at the interruption by the naval high command, comprised of Admirals Hood von Tirpitz and the two aforementioned Vice Admirals Wall and Bismark. Nevertheless of how much he wanted to fire all the admirals, he opted to listen to their advice, even if it may have been repulsive.
“I see.. I would like to see schematics for such a vessel.”
Before he had even finished speaking, Admiral Hood pulled out a drawing from his rather elongated pockets, brushing aside several other important documents which tumbled to the floor on either side of the table from where the drawing now enjoyed all it’s wooden real estate.
Musing over the schematics throughout his head, Washvelt burst out in rage.

“Seventeen inch guns?! Are you fucking kidding me?! Where on god’s green earth would we even get that much steel for such a target? Would The Twelve Isles give us a few million shipments and allow us to construct such a vessel there? Where would we even get such shells from, or will they be hobbled together from the tens of thousands of cannonballs we’ll melt down into a clumsy shell cocoon to fit the high explosive?! This is going to weigh seventy thousand tons?! I told you idiots we needed smaller military Vessels!”
“Sir, with little due respect to your sorry ass, we’ve already had plans for such a warship all the way back in 1913, called the Damiyo. While it held smaller 14, 15 and 13 inch main guns, it would be just eighty shy of 1500 feet in length. In fact, the proposed Saturn is a complete and asinine joke in all but main armament which has been proposed. I’m sure the half completed hull of the Damiyo is somewhere around here, requiring us to simply look for such a monstrosity and tow it back to Carriebean.”
“I wouldn’t be so confident of that assessment, though I doubt the need for such a massive clusterfuck, if we did locate it, I’d begin to scrap it, and utilize the materials wasted for smaller and more maneuverable naval vessels. We could even utilize the steel for our planned numbers of armored troop carriers and armored skirts we’ll place around our horses for better protection from enemy gas attack.”

With a somewhat frustrated face and visible lines increasingly growing on the senior naval high command in their arguments with their commander in chief, the triplets of blue and red soon took seats across from the president to more formally begin such a military meeting within the government records.
All four gentlemen helped themselves to numerous cigarettes, cigars and plenty of brandy on the rocks in an attempt to calm their frayed nerves before the meeting would pick back up again with insults. They neglected to hear the door open and close, with a rather skinny looking Carriebeanian first class Flotilla Commander shyly saluting the president, who beckoned for him to sit down and handed him a cigar, complete with some brandy sloshing in its glass prison.
“Now, shall we begin again with the deliberations on Naval Strategy? I understand our relative disagreements with the addition of larger naval ships within the dockyards of the Imperial Carriebeanian Navy, but I’m sure a suitable compromise can be reached.”
“Indeed.” Seconded Vice Admiral Wall. “While we may not necessarily agree on the correct course of action regarding naval doctrine, some sort of solution will be attained or there will be a coup. Now I would like to commence with a modest proposal. We do not commence with the construction of a new warship, but instead salvage the older vessel and update it accordingly with better armor and armaments that are available.”

Wall then turned to the new addition to the room, with the man instinctively saluting his superior officer.
“You there, what plan of action do you suggest we take, I’m open to suggestions from lowly staffers such as you, to emphasize my common touch with the working sailor.”
“Well, you see Vice Admiral, I’m with a group of noticeable Congressional associates, and they’ve come to the conclusion that we need at least one carrier.”
“That can be arranged, uh-“
“Samuel Hay.”
“First Class Flotilla Commander Hay. I’ll have the bird sent over immediately once this meeting has adjourned.”
“No sir, I don’t mean a carrier pigeon, I mean an actual aircraft carrier. I’m very much a naval air enthusiast. What I would first like is the establishment of a Naval Minister position that involves the construction and experimentation with Naval Air Power and Carrier Construction.”
“An actual aircraft carrier? You mean no birds? That’s a very radical direction for the Imperial Carriebeanian Navy to be taking at such a time. Carriebeanian Airpower is laughable with a couple hundred planes dating from the early 1900s to mid-1910s. Hell, we’ve spent more on civilian militias than the air force. As for your request of Minister of Naval Air Power and Carrier Construction, I’ll officially sign an order that establishes the minister within the coming weeks, you’ll have to fund the recruitment of office staff, personnel and various projects you wish to begin yourselves. We’ll only provide you with the building for such a facility and a small training yard.”

“Why, thank you for the promotion, Vice Admiral. However, I must emphasize our increasing irrelevance on the world stage. Carriebean is merely a city state. Our rivals in Hoosier and allies in Nihon have aircraft carriers. We must have the same. Some Investor had sold an old Carriebeanian Paddle Wheel Steamer named the Empress of the Seas, itself an older Dominator class Armored Cruiser turned to civilian use. We are going to turn such a vessel into a paddle wheel driven aircraft carrier. The reason is simplicity and cost reduction, as I’d sure as hell would prefer to avoid installing screws and just leaving those paddles in. The plan will be to raze the top deck off of the ship in order to install both a flight deck, with below decks housing the planned squadron of 12 planes, crew quarters and engine room.”
“And what about defenses against possible aircraft or naval ships?”
“Those will be provided with a total of fourteen .303mm machine guns, seven on either side for protection. As for possible enemy naval ships she might encounter, we’ll apply two 4 inch guns on parallel sides port and starboard. The planes carried onboard will be eight Boxcart Type 95 scout fighters and four Drunkard Type 96 attack fighters. These shall be grouped into six squadrons, four containing Boxcart and 2 with the Drunkard fighters.”

As Vice Admiral Hall was about to speak he was preempted by Vice Admiral Bismarck.
“So, what sorry excuse for armored plating will you slap onto that monstrosity to protect it from violent storms, much less enemy return fire! Carriebeanian Battleships are superior to the flimsy Carriers you are proposing. If our country has only a couple hundred planes, we will simply need to construct more anti-aircraft weaponry in order to shoot down enemy aircraft.”
“But we’re still not sure of the effectiveness of such weapons, we’d be better off in massed rifle volleys against enemy airplanes. If we have planes to engage enemy squadrons, it shall enable our naval forces in sorties to better deal with possible enemy aircraft carriers in strikes by planes. I predict that we shall soon have battles over such long distances at sea. Mark my words, these Carriers will be the savior of Carriebean.”
Before Bismark could make a retort, President Washvelt intervened.

“Gentlemen, I have heard enough. We shall commission a directive towards the general government about the findings of this cabinet meeting and the modernization of the Imperial Carriebeanian Navy and to instruct the respective legislatures to direct funding. This meeting of the Imperial Carriebeanian Naval High Command and the President is officially adjourned.”
The thwack sound of a gavel echoed throughout the halls as the various Naval Admirals left the room.

Congressional Meeting House

The strong whiff of tobacco smoke intermingled with gunpowder from the various cowboy assassinations by rival Congressional members of differing political parties. It would be strong enough to remind someone of thick clouds of smoke that you could poke out with and physically interact with. Congressman Darrel Frost Sampson gripped his cane tightly as he hobbled into his seat within the half circular building with over three hundred and sixty four other desks like his. The layout was one in a semicircle, with all the desks facing a main podium where either the President, Majority or Minority leaders would give addresses to. While little in the way of legislature got done within such hallways, the sidehallways of the twelve congressional committees for the Congressmen to conduct with thirty members in each of the committees would usually lead to better connections with one another, though on the floor of Congress, gunshots tended to fly out frequently.
The large hammering of a gavel brought the chattering and various clinking of firearms carried by the representatives to a subdued murmur as the Majority Leader Kimbal Lenegi rose to the podium to speak.
“The House will now hear from the Representative from Zhackary.”
Vannessa Tetsua Crumbs stood up and approached the podium to speak.
“Gentlemen and women. I stand here not just as a communist, but as a representative of the people. A people who’s political ambitions to liberate the workers has been stymied by the pro capitalist devils within this chamber-“
A gunshot roared from Elizabeth Horatio’s (Pirate-Pisbar) colt revolver that stopped the political meeting. Lenegi rose to his feet once again.
“The House does declare a motion for a snap election to replace the Representative from Zhackary within five minutes. All those in favor.”
“Aye.”
“Those Oppose?”
A barely audible nay was heard from a gallery member, wanting to stir up some political shit. The only shit the galley member got was these words.
“The Mad Motherfucker at Arms is authorized to kill that galley member for interfering with Congressional Business, may god have mercy on his soul, proceed.”
A blur of lighting would be the best way to describe the motherfucker at arms, who whipped out his firearm and blew his head open, with parts of his brain raining down onto the galley.
With the distraction taken care of, Lenegi remained standing before stating.
“The motion passes 365 to 1. We’ll still count the dead guy’s vote as an unofficial member of Congress. The Next order of business in the Shit Eating Substinence Act. Motion for Debate on the legislation may be called for any member.”
There was little more noise in the room than the sliding of chairs, cleaning of revolvers and munching on shit cakes as the Majority Leader hammered his gavel.
“We shall now hold a vote for the SSEA, with no one wishing for a motion of debate. All those in favor?”
“Aye.”
Those oppose?’
“Nay.”
“The Ayes are 318, Nays are 47, the Ayes have it and the legislation shall be sent to the President immediate for his signature. The next motion shall be on the Carriebeanian Military Expansion Bill of 1928. Any request for Amendments for the bill will now be heard and voted on by the Congress.”
A skinny looking woman dressed in black and gold stood up from her desk, gripping it tightly as she spoke.
“The House will now hear from Penelope Dorothy Mnaue. (Independent from Tir). Mnaue has the floor.”
“Honored Representatives and motherfuckers, I propose an amendment which strengthens the Imperial Carriebeanian Army as well. We are to need more Tractor Assault Troop Transports and 7cm Field Guns. What I propose is to put a provision within the legislature that shall set aside the funds and facilities needed for the construction of two hundred Tractor Assaults and two hundred and fifty 7cm Field Guns.”
“We shall now hold a vote for the titled Mnaue Amendment to the Carriebeanian Military Expansion Bill of 1928. All those in favor?”
“Aye!”
“Those oppose?”
“Nay!”
“The Ayes are 279, Nays are 85, Abstentions are 1. Any amendments requires a 75% majority, or 274 votes in the affirmative. The Amendment passes with a majority of five votes and is added to the bill. Any more requests for Amendment?”
A rather sharp looking military soldier holding a cigar in one hand and his pistol in the other fired a shot into the air to get the Majority Leader’s attention.
“The House will now hear from Carl von Reuenthal (Patriotic from Currase). Reuenthal has the floor.”
“Honored Representatives and motherfuckers, The Imperial Carriebeanian Army needs not only Tanks, but more of our homemade armored tanks. I envision an entire battalion of armored vehicles marching off to war. This is why I propose another Amendment that shall further strengthen our possible armored forces in the event of military invasion. I propose a construction of over 200 Carriebeanian Armored Tanks Mark I, and the needed research and development for at least two more advanced prototypes that can be easily readied for mass production by Carriebeanian Factories.”
“We shall hold another vote on the titled Reuenthal Amendment to the Carriebeanian Military Expansion Bill of 1928. All those in favor?”
“Aye!”
“Oppose?”
“Nay!”
“The Ayes are 280, Nays are 83 and 2 Abstentions. The Amendment passes with a majority of six votes and is added to the bill. Any more Requests?”
The room, for once was finally silent.
“We shall now hold a final vote on the final version of the Carriebeanian Military Expansion Bill of 1928, since there are no more amendments to be added. All those in Favor?”
“Aye!”
“All those Oppose?”
“Nay!”
“The Ayes are 207, Nays are 155 with 3 Abstentions. The Bill passes with a simple majority of 26 more than needed. The Ayes have it and the bill shall be sent to the President for his signature. Congress is adjourned until the afternoon.”
With a hammer of the gavel, some of the dead bodies and numerous lawmakers began to file out of the Congressional meeting house.

Occupied Carriebeanian City of Salt Lake

Vilnaus Hattekape almost lost his balance as he had been pushed and shoved by the numerous local commuters filing their way into the small platform. Gingerly carrying his suitcase with him, he was helped by a more considerate young man whom he struck a conversation up with.
“Why, what a nice surprise young man, do say, why you’re out all this way in Salt Lake? A missionary?”
“Oh no mister, I’m actually a member of the Cult of Booze.”
“A-come again?” Hattekape’s eyes widened at the new information.
“You’re shitting me? You’ve never heard of Booze? It’s great, all we do is talk bad about the current government, plan suicide bombings and attempt to assassinate enemy leaders.”
“And how do you figure out who is an ‘enemy leader’? the war has been over for some time you know.” Hattekape reasoned.
“Oh, mister, that’s easy. If he refuses the sacred liquor of our allah and savior Booze-”
“Wait, wait wait, you mean you Worship a man named Booze, not the drink, correct?”
“That is correct.”
“Oh fuck this. But do tell me more, I’m invested in your story now, It’d be impolite to fuck off at the next stop.”
“The Sacred Cult of Booze was founded after the infidels despoiled sacred Carriebeanian Territory with their mass armies. I was a soldier, I attempted to fight them off, but failed in my mission to the alliterative allah of alcohol. First I went back to running a bar, then some religious nutjobs calling themselves Jesuits blew it up. I politely returned them the favor with one of their eyesore cathedrals and about 500 pounds of gunpowder and a very long lit candle.”
The train jerked suddenly, causing the two men to grab tightly onto the overhead rails to not fall over, with Hattekape’s hands losing grip of his briefcase, tumbling a few wires to hang tightly from it’s brown container like condemned men from the gallows.
“Wait, is that a bomb?”
The commuters within the car soon began to break out in mass panic, with some of them shooting out the windows with their local handguns in an attempt to break out before the stranger lifted the device in his hands, connecting the green wire with a small silver and gold disk, setting off the device in a flash that ripped apart the railroad car and the adjacent station where several people had been closely gathered only to turn into casualties.
By the time Hoosier officers had arrived to inspect and assist those wounded, the train cars had been ripped open like can openers, with a dried rustic substance coating both them, though it grew a darker shade of bloody red the further from the epicenter of the explosion. Shrapnel impacted several children on a school trip. By the time the attack had been conducted, eighty six out of the one hundred passengers on the train were fatalities. The damage on the crowded platform proved only a hair less fatal, with two hundred and seventy five casualties compared to the near two thousand that had been shoving arms and breasts on the platform.
With that, the terrorist attack would hopefully spark a fear within occupied Carriebean, to be fearful of their intruders that had illegally occupied Carriebeanian soil. The expected results from the local authorities were to be a fairly straightforward more stringent screening of who gets on trains and the necessity to search numerous bags for some explosives.

October, 1928

Following the cowardly terrorist attack on a Carribean train, the Hoosier military in the region began to institute new policies and preventative measures to keep the populace safe. Public transit would be protected by Hoosier soldiers and searches would become mandatory to board trains, ships, and the like, as well as increased checkpoints in cities and on roads, as well as increased scrutiny on groups in the Carribean territories that were deemed suspicious or a threat. Carribean army units were also being created. Volunteers were recruited, armed, and trained by the Hoosier Army, and it was hoped that within the year, a small, capable, local Carribean branch of the army would be formed. The hope was that seeing Carribean faces manning the checkpoints and patrols would help the assimilation and elevate fear and suspicion. Propaganda began to circulate regarding the attack, with the motives of the attacker and his ideology being disproven by the Hoosier government and promises of more security and protection, in an attempt to get people to reject the radicals. An emphasis was put on the success of the Hoosiers in their efforts to reform the nation, pointing to the improving economy, lack of food and water shortages, repairing of infrastructure, and the peace brought by the government.

The expansion of the Hoosier military was going well, with fifteen total armored divisions in active service, with a total of twenty-five being in service by 1930. By February of 1929, the Hoosier military will be made up of one hundred twenty-five infantry divisions and twenty-five cavalry divisions, as well as the fifteen armored divisions.

Once receiving word of an insurrection within the Aclusian Raj, the Hoosier government set up several secret meetings with the fighters, and arranged for several shipments of rifles and ammunition to be sent to the rebels through their established smuggling routes, with an offer to send advisers to train the fighters, should they prove themselves to be a competent fighting force.

Losing the Peace to Win the War

April 1928

The last few years had been a troubling time. Wars had torn Indianum to pieces and left one nation in tatters, another on the brink of collapse, and the entire continent one wrong move away from war.

But as far as the Nationalists in Parliament were concerned, that was just fine. The Nihonese had crapped on the Empire’s honor and it was time that something was done about it. The Nationalists didn’t much care if the entire world hated the Empire when they were finished with Nihon. They were convinced that the world would fear the Empire. And when you were feared, it didn’t matter if they loved you or not. None would cross you. And that was what the Nationalists wanted. Unquestioned Manticoran hegemony.

Catherine had more realistic views. Nihon was an upstart nation that flouted international precedents and had made it quite plain that such things as “sovereignty” meant nothing. So Catherine had been coordinating. Diplomats present in each of the nations that formed the Central Alliance were relaying requests and information to the other leaders and Catherine was confident the plan would work.

“Torch” the General Staff called it. A truly ambitious plan if ever there was one. It called for coordinated and simultaneous offensives into Manchukuo, Crimetopolis, Carriebean, Nihonese Shishiri, Ironton, and Takeshima by the forces of no less than six different nations. D-Day was quite a way off, so there was still time to iron out all the kinks but the simple scale of the operation was sufficient to make her nervous. Millions of men, thousands of planes, tens of thousands of tanks and artillery pieces, hundreds of warships. It would be the largest operation in the history of the world, not just in terms of manpower and material but also in the sheer geographical scope of the operation. There was plenty that could go wrong. If the estimations of the OSS on the reaction of the Western League were mistaken and the League joined the war, it would start a second world war that would be even more devastating than the Great War.

That was why she had sent diplomats to Arengin, Aclus, The Twelve Isles, Skarten, and Wargloria. The diplomats had the same basic goals. Secure the neutrality of the Western League and, if possible, their assistance.

Another thing that could go wrong was simple lack of manpower. To address that issue, she had already authorized the Army to increase in size from 120 divisions to 194 divisions. With Manticoran industry able to outfit a full division and then some each month and training of new troops taking approximately a year at 15 training bases, it would take five years to train the 74 new divisions being raised. To further complicate matters, Catherine had been impressed by the Warglorian airborne troops and had authorized the purchase of Vickers Victoria transports from Aclus and the formation of 10 airborne divisions as well as the training of 7 Infantry Divisions as Mountain Divisions, an event expected to take approximately 6 months for the Mountain Divisions and several years for the Airborne Divisions.

Almost exactly one year ago, Lynch had been in this very building, asking the Skartenians to demilitarize the border in Tamir. A similar proposal had been given to the Arenginians in the same year. But this year, it was a different goal. This year, Lynch wanted to get the Skartenians to at the very least ignore the Central Alliance's attack on Nihon and his allies. Other ambassadors were making similar pleas to Aclus, Arengin, Wargloria, and the Isles. But Lynch was interested solely in the response of the Skartenian ambassador to his proposal. He was confident, of course. Skarten had become a valued trade partner of the Aydinirians so Lynch was hoping that would sway the Skartenians into supporting Torch.

Ambassador McDonald was hoping to secure Arenginian neutrality in the coming war. While the Empire was confident of victory against Nihon at present, if Arengin entered the war, that victory would become difficult, if not impossible, to achieve. Upon McDonald's shoulders rested the future of the Empire.

Ambassador Joe Anderson had arrived in The Isles with the hope of bringing the Islanders into a highly classified plot. Something so classified that he was the only person on his staff that knew about it. The only other person in the Embassy who knew of the plot was the OSS officer assigned to the Embassy. And now was the time to bring about the first step of that plan.

Kaapstad, Nord Kaap, Traansval
October, 1938

Get up you lazy sod!

The stern words of the woman awoke poor Arnold Jansen from his sleep as he soon found himself rubbing the spot on his head that had been hit.

“Aww, now what’d’ya do that for Janice!” Arnold complained, rubbing his bruised noggin and bruised ego.

Janice, youth in her features but coldness in her brown eyes, fixed Arnold with a stare. “You sir, have work at 8’o’clock, and it is currently 7:55 you jackabout. If you don’t get there soon they’ll fire you!”

Arnold looked quickly to the bedside clock and saw that it was indeed five to eight, and that if he didn’t get going he would indeed be late. He jumped out of bed and ran to the bathroom where he quickly washed his face with water and emerged to find his work clothes laid out on the bed, and Janice buttoning up her blouse in the mirror.

“I’ll take Isabeau to school but I need you to pick her up, Mister Bakker has me working late tonight, apparently he’s expecting more reports to be filed than usual, something about fighting in Rannoria.” Janice said while inspecting her appearence in the mirror.

Arnnold chuckled as he hooked his suspenders on, “My wife, doing her best for the war effort!” he exclaimed.

Janice fixed him with another stare, “Another word and I’ll put you on the Kommissarisskap’s conscription list.” She finished fixing herself in the mirror and came around the bed, walked towards her husband and leaned in, planting a brief kiss on his lips.

“Be good.” She whispered, then smirked, with Arnold returning the smile. “You too…” He whispered back.

Arnold turned to pick up his cap while Janice left the room. Arnold soon joined her just in time to rustled the hair of their daughter as she and Janice we leaving. “Listen to your teachers now! Learn!” Arnold shouted at Isabeau as he turned a hallway, going the opposite direction.

He came out on the street right next to the sign on the front of the building. “Workers Housing” it said, one of dozens and dozens of low cost affordable workers housing apartment blocks that the Federation had been building, a few Arnold had worked on himself. Arnold had been a private during the Great War, had signed up just when he turned eighteen, but the Warglorians had taken Pretoria before he got out of training. He spent the Occupation Years working manual labor, longest job had been with an Aclusian mining company in the Val Mountains digging up silver. He still remembers the harsh conditions, and the “Company Currency” chips he’d been given to use in “Company Stores”, milked him for everything, barely had enough to support himself, let alone Janice. When he got married to Janice, he promised her and himself that he’d find a better life, and so he took what little cash he had and bought him and her tickets to Kaapstad. They found out she was pregnant on the ride over.

He fought with the Kaapstad militia in the early days, but after the Aclusian peace treaty he didn’t re-enlist, instead got a job with one of the construction cooperatives. Was like nothing he’d ever had; good work, good pay, the bosses didn’t give him shit cause he and everybody else elected the bosses, and the bosses only ever got elected from among the workers so they knew what they knew. He even got set up with a two bedroom apartment through the Union with running water and, just recently, electricity.

Image

Out on the street, he saw the cars zipping by, and the throng of people on the street. The Chrysler car company had been seized when Kaapstad was liberated and its two biggest factories were now owned by two different Cooperatives, the Chrysler Cars Cooperative and the Lincoln Company, both of which were now in heavy competition as they were some of the first major automotive companies to get back into regular production. Chrysler was offering the “Workers Car” for as cheap as a five hundred Rand, equivalent to a hundred pounds, while Lincoln was putting out cars under the slogan “Chariots of the Common Man” for a few hundred Rand.

Arnold waved to Janice as he saw her turn the corner in the family’s Chrysler, and when she was out of eyesight he took out his cigarette tin and lit one up. Janice would kill him if she saw him huffing on one, but with such a rude awakening he needed a pep up. He saw one of the Transit Cars, a streetcar set on tracks run by overhead electric cables, coming down the street and waited for an opening in the cars. He dipped through and grabbed a hold of the car’s handle and vaulted himself on board. He dropped a couple coins with the conductor and took a seat. He moved the window a crack and blew his smoke out of it, trying to be nice to the other passengers. Transit Cars had been almost dead within the Traansval, but the Transit Car Union had been fighting hard for their inclusion within the reconstruction of Kaapstad and Van Rosevelt took a liking to them, calling them the preferred method of worker transportation. After all, not every worker could afford a car, and so these methods of public transport were installed all over the city, and their fare set at only a couple Rand.

A sizzle came from the cigarette as Arnold stamped it out in the armrests ashtray. He looked to the man beside him who was reading a newspaper, “Die Werkers Daagliks”, The Workers Daily, a newspaper that was more Marxist than the Federation of Labor. Arnold could see the front page, “Warglorians continue brutal offensive in Rannoria, brave Federasie Soldate hold the line for the workers of the Traansval and Rannoria!” The picture below was of Boer soldiers in fighting poses among the grass of Rannoria’s southern fields.

Image

The man noticed Arnold and looked to the front page, then smirked. “Warglorians can’t keep it up, they’re fighting us on two fronts now. Its been eight years, they’ll give in soon.” Arnold simply nodded to the man and the two turned away from each other. When Arnold heard the condutor shout out that the Car was approaching Anhalter Square, Arnold stood up and held onto the cars for support. He waited next to the door for a second until the Car come upon Anhalter square and he jumped off, into a sea of bustling people. He was now in downtown Kaapstad, a center of pretty much everything you can think of, including construction. He could see the skeleton of steel that marked the building he was working on, and he quickly made it across the square.

He came through the gate to find workers bustling about. He dipped into the office, a haze of cigarette smoke filling the room, and he clocked in. “Arnold! Your half an hour late for gods sake, Gunther and the boys have already started on your section, get a move on!” Shouted Edward de Valos, a Twelve Islander who was one of the foremen, a good man but also one who wouldn’t take shit and would definitely take the missed hours of work out of Arnolds pay, but Arnold thought that was fair. Either way, Arnold took off for the elevator system.

Up in the air, Arnold found peace. The air was chilled but the sun warmed him enough, and he could focus on the tasks in front of him. Every once in a while he’d take a look at the city below him, oh how it had changed. He remembered growing up in Kaapstad, it was a city of brick and mortar, red brick to be exact, but now it seemed that steel behemoths, including the one he was working on, were dominating the skyline. Arnold felt a tug on his safety line, a rope connected to a harness under his clothes that was held on its other end to a bolt in the steel, just in case he fell off. He looked down to see Gunther, “Lunch is in five!” Arnold waved in acknowledgement and then got back to work as Gunther walked off along the steel. Older more experienced workers like Gunther didn’t wear the cords, damn Union regulations they knew how to walk the steel, but Arnold didn’t want to take any chances.

Arnold wiped his brow as he finished with the bolts on this section, and he turned his gaze out to the city. His eyes swept over Kaapstad, taking it all in, and appreciating its beauty…

Gokyo, Nihon
March 15, 1928

Imperial Nihonese commanders, having become very worried of war, have begun to ready for it in every way. Besides the defenses already built, the Kokumin Giyū Sentōtai had been ordered to begin building grenades, pottery ones if needed, and have 100,000 sharpened bamboo spears ready by the end of April. Several meetings had occurred, with everyone being trained in placing mines, basics of anti-tank warfare, and how to man anti-aircraft guns. There were multiple plans in place for the event of war.

Number one was Operation Ichi Man meant as a defensive plan outlined to defend the two only beaches where a major operation was possible. Details surrounding were unknown as this were kept classified, although millions of men had been deployed to secure these areas.

Next was Operation Undivine Emperor, the only Nihonese operation not named in Nihonese. It's target was top secret and so was everything about the plan. It would be executed by the Tora Strike Group which had just recently received multiple more Special Naval Landing Forces men to support. The plan was daring, and cunning, with so much to gain yet so much to loose. 2 tons of "special weapons" had been sent to the Strike Group.

Lastly was the top secret Operation Okane. It had already been underway with experts in the field beginning tests and readying equipment. A top secret deal had been reached with Wargloria to manufacture these in their large industry, with specimens being perfected after over a year of work.

Both the Operation Ichi Man and Operation Undivine Emperor have been underway in planning for years now, just under different names or modification of plans.

Nihonese Paratroopers of the Giretsu Kuteitai and Teishin Shudan had been training, readying to assist in Operation Ichin Man and the planned defense of Manchuko.

Otherwise propaganda has filled the news in Manchuko and all Nihonese territories speaking headlines: Manticorian Forces Investigated for Cannibalism in Latest Carriebean War; Nihonese Forces at all Time High for Recruitment; Increased Collaboration Between Nihonese Allies Report Shows; Manticorian Forces Reportedly Surrendered in Masses in Carriebean War; Manticore Mass Murders Carriebeaners in Carriebean; Inside the Manticorian Plot to Attack the Western League. Other articles circulated urging Manchuko men to join the Manchuko Army, or work in factories to produce weapons and ammo for the war effort.

Plans for new armor were underway, with a planned Nihonese purchase of 300 Crimetopolis FT-17s. New Armored Cars that had been ordered earlier are being produced well, and an order of the Nihonese version of the Manticorian M1919 Machine gun with an order for 12,000 Arisaka Type Manatakare 1919 Machine Guns chambered in .30.

Additionally it has been called for 1,000 new Nihonese Style FT-17 tanks to be produced along with thousands of trucks.

Naval Drills in Nihon between Wargloria, Ruskland, and The Twelve Isles had been proposed and are being prepared for.

"Emperor Cartwine, Princess Cartwine, it is an honor to meet you." Yasuhito smiled, bowing in return before shaking hands with both. "It is very nice to come to your great nation, and I am so grateful for your hospitality. It is a pity that I am to come to speak of a serious concern, but it is only fit we meet regardless. I apologize that my brother Emperor Hirohito was a not able to attend, he wanted to very much. But I'm afraid he is busy preparing defenses for war, and I had been in Aclus already."

But, it is still an honor to have you here with us. If you will, we already have a car prepared for us. Alexander gestured to the limousine that stood waiting for them, a chauffeur in a well pressed tuxedo standing waiting for them by the doors. In front and behind were a series of vehicles, and many guards, both military and police waiting. There were motorcycles at the front and the rear of the procession with City Watchmen waiting, shotguns propped on their hips. Cars for Wardens, who sat waiting inside and out, watching carefully in their long brown coats. And both in front of and behind the limousine, there were two trucks, one empty, the Imperial Guards it carried standing in perfect formation at either side of the Emperor and his sister, while the other one was full, the Imperial Guards watching carefully, scanning everything with practiced and dangerous eyes.

Aydinir

Johan Meijer loved the smell of salt, the smell of the sea, it reminded him of his home back in Salev. He had come from a family of fishermen, trolling the waters collecting fish to sell at the market. War had drawn him away from the family business, he had joined the Federation’s militia and fought in the early days on the frontlines, and found that he was good at it, and had become one of many who decided on soldiering as a profession. When he had made Serseant he was plucked by the Politieke Kommissarisskap, Political Commissionership, at the time a newly created office of men answerable directly to the Federation’s Volkskommissaris for the army, whose purpose was to ensure loyalty and to education the soldiers.

The Landmacht Polietieke Kommissarisskap, or LPK, was a body of pseudo military policemen whose jurisdiction was over, as specified, “Treason, Espionage, Disloyalty, and Moral”. The majority of a LPK Political Officer’s job was “Ethical Indoctrination”, designed to give men conviction through persuasion, describing for each man what he was fighting for and why. It was believed by Evan Carlson, a Manticoran immigrant who had served in the Boer army during the Great War and was made a member of Smedley Dienskneg’s staff, the person who drafted the proposal for the LPK, that telling soldiers why they were fighting and what they were fighting for would make them more effective soldiers. Of course, it also fell under the LPK and its Political Officers the duty to find and prosecute men who were performing Treasonous or Disloyal actions, a threat that was very real due to the very mixed political loyalties of the Federation’s army.

However, Meijer doubted he’d be arresting anybody for treason here in Aydinir. He and the company of infantrymen he was attached to had been sent to Aydinir under secret orders to help train Yindrai Freedom Fighters in the training camps hosted by Aydinir. Meijer stood off to the side as he watched over a hundred men step off the ships, dressed in the green Tropical uniform of the Federation’s army, complete with the jungle hat instead of a helmet. Meijer’s gaze turned to the docks crane which was bringing crates off the ship, some of which carries equipment for the company, most of which however carried equipment for the Yindrai. Rifles, pistols, ammo, machine guns, mortars, etc. Enough to equip a regiment of men, and more was expected.

Finally, Meijer looked off to the beginning of the pier, where two men in the muted green uniforms of the Boer Revolution Army spoke with suited men of Aydinir. The green men were KvKI officers, Boer military intelligence, technically apart of and “loyal” to the BRA and the Provisional Republic and Maritz, but in reality the KvKI’s chief, Friedrich Hoover, was a long time friend and partner of Van Rosevelt and was aligned with the Federation, although not enough to outright declare it. Still, when Van Rosevelt asked Hoover to send some men to assist the Yindrai in intelligence gathering and sabotage actions, he was happy to send a few over. Although, judging by the faces of the Aydiniri men, most likely Aydiniri intelligence officers, they weren’t too happy that the Boers had brought a bit more then military advisors…

Meijer chuckled, well too bad for them, the Yindrai had asked for help and here it had come. A company of infantry to drill and train their fighters, Meijer and his Political Officers to give speeches and lectures on Socialist policies and politics, and the KvKI to gather intelligence and establish a web of connections with the Yindrai Unions and Workers to help organize them for the soon to be Revolution. This would be how Yindrai would win its independence.

The ship's whistle cut the air, a declaration that all were off and that it would begin its journey south to another port. The crates were all unloaded from the ship and now were being loaded onto carts, and all the Boer soldiers were lined up neatly and orderly. They were picked for being some of the best to represent the Traansval, and they were living up to it.

To: The Warglorian Reich’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs
From: The Volkskommissarisskap van Buitelandse Sake, People’s Commissionership of Foreign Affairs, of the Federation of Labor.

We send this message as a plea to the rationality of your leadership. In a few months, this war shall turn nine years old. This war, a war whose sole purpose is for the Warglorian Reich to hold onto land so that it could justify the losses sustained in the Nine Years War, shall become a Nine years long war. Where is the sanity in losing tens of thousands of more Warglorian men to a war that will soon become as long as the bloodiest, most destructive war in recent Human history.

The Traansval wants peace, and we send this as a last petition to reason so that the Warglorian leadership shall agree to come to the table so that we may negotiate an end to this fighting and lay down our arms. If you reject this peace, then we will fight to the bitter end, and we will bleed for our land and bleed you of your men. That is our ultimatum; peace, or blood.

September, 1928
Aydinir, Mountains of Nirah, near Yindrai border

Colonel Douglas Bundy of the Hoosier Army took in the sights of the Aydinir homeland. He wasn't a fan of it, disliking the ocean, the heat, and the weather all together, having grown up on the prairies of Wilmington. However, the heat was something he was used to since his service in Aryshtakova and Opus, fighting the insurgency there. That was were he earned his rank of colonel and proved himself in the eyes of the Party and military, and was part of the reason he was selected to travel to Aydinir and deal with the...situation there. Colonel Bundy arrived with many other Hoosiers to Aydinir to help train and arm the Yindrai in their fight against Aclus.

The Hoosiers would show the Yindrai how to properly fight with their rifles, bayonets, and some of them would even be schooled in the art of demolition and sabotage. Manticorean weapons were brought in with the advisers, ones that had been replaced in the Hoosier Army with Hoosier weapons so that it would be hard to trace back to the Iron Guard government. Explosives were brought as well, mostly for training purposes for now, as well as some machineguns, a handful of anti-tank weapons, grenades, submachines, and ammunition.

Bundy watched his men as they followed his orders and began organizing and preparing to train the Yindrai. He had instructed his most trusted officers to watch over the organization and ensure that everything was accomplished, especially their secret assignment.

Smuggled into the training facilities were copies of the Totalist Manifesto, written by the old Marshal Brandon Jones. Their task was to train and arm the Yindrai, yes, but also to introduce the ideology of Totalism to the fighters. They would, hopefully, be able to reach many of the young, more nationalist inclined, fighters and make good fascists of them. They would teach them of how they must remember and love their history, culture, and national sovereignty in the face of the Aclusian and Aydiniri pressure. They would show them how Totalism will help them unite their people and maintain a free state for the Yindrai people and keep them strong in the face of international threats. The Hoosiers would plant these ideas in their heads, read to them from the Totalist Manifesto, and provide them with copies to take home and preach to their brothers in arms. Stories of the success of Totalism would be spread throughout, particularly how Jones, the writer of the Manifesto and founder of Totalism, sacrificed himself for his people and how he devoted himself to the Party and the people, and how Totalism can bring about greatness in Yindrai as well. They would whisper to them about how the Aydinir government sought only to take the nation for themselves, and how their annexation attempts must be resisted.

Separate groups would be trained by the Hoosiers, independent of the training the Boers and Aydiniris provided to their own factions. This gave them a perfect chance to spread their ideology without the interference of others. The Hoosiers had a lot of work to do in order to get the men ready to fight the Aclusians, and just as much work to spread their ideology to the young nation.

Almaty
November 1928

The winter had begun in earnest now as the sixth year of Manticoran presence in Almaty neared its end. The tensions with Nihon had reached an entirely new level, with a full two corps assigned to Almaty. 10 Cavalry Divisions, 4 tank brigades, and 12 infantry divisions ready on the border. Reports from GHQ confirmed that Corps from Tamir, Nuwe Afrikaa, and Manticore would be arriving in Breyburg and Rachana by the end of the month. 6 more Corps, a total of 36 infantry divisions and 6 tank brigades, would be shifted to Breyburg and Rachana over the next two months using the Navy's vast transport fleet. By the New Year, 2,559,500‬ men would be in Indianum or on their way across the ocean. 2.5 million men, 7,870 aircraft, 3,450 tanks, and 3,432 howitzers would be alongside millions of Rachanan, Breyburg, Hoosier, and Aydinirian soldiers ready to bring war to the enemies of the Alliance.

Across the Empire, similar movements were made. Marine divisions were mobilised in Dasda Major and the Spice Isles for an assault on the Ironton Islands and the Battle Fleet was concentrated in the Soll-Ost Gap, ready to sail upon receiving the order. The corps that weren't sent to Indianum were mobilised to begin refresher training of the reserve, an enormous force of over 24 million men. Many had been out of the army for close to twenty years, requiring substantial retraining that would take months. But this was a contingency the Army had prepared for. Indeed, they had practiced it in the Nine Year War. They called up the most recently released soldiers first, soldiers who would only need a brief one to two weeks of refresher training, before moving on. It was hoped that by the time they got to the soldiers who needed the most retraining, the war was over. But hope would only go so far.

This new war would be fought with artillery and tanks and airplanes. And it would certainly make the Great War seem less great.

Gokyo, Nihon

Soon after the offer for the territory of Manchuko arrived, King Nikolai would send a seal of approval to Arenginian ambassador Yuliy Zaytsev for immediate signing of the agreement. Ambassador Zaytsev was a well respected man in Nihon, fluent Nihonese speaker and a well connected diplomat, as soon as the letter from the king arrived he got to work quickly. Soon a meeting between the Areginian and Nihonese delegation would ensue within the Nihonese capital, both national and foreign journalists had been let known of this event and as such it was now known that the Arengin Kingdom would purchase a lease for the Manchuko territory.

It was a rather quick and simple signature event, mostly for show as both representatives of their countries were handed documents and explained the nature and legality of it all. After a brief moment of photographing both men signed the contract and now officially the land of Manchuko belonged to the Arengin Kingdom for a period of 10 years. The money would soon the transferred to the Nihonese national bank and soon soldiers of the Kingdom would arrive to the territory as would entrepreneurs ready to export the rich natural resources within the land. This had been a good business deal for both parties indeed.

Port Alexander

"Very well, two hundred 76-mm air-defense guns M1904/05, two hundred M1910 Howitzers, two hundred 305mm Howitzers and two 305mm Coastal Defense Guns..." Captain Kazimir Kovalevsky finished off reading a manifesto for a large shipment of heavy guns directed to the nation of Aydinir. The young officer of twenty eight observed as the massive artillery pieces were being hauled by heavy machinery and into the last ship. The actual number of weaponry was much higher and all would be heading to the port of the Aydiniran nation within a few days.

"Captain," Another voice called out, this one from Sergeant Novikov.

"Yes sergeant?" Kovalevsky answered as he set his hands and the manifesto on his back. His clean and well kept uniform contrasted that of the sergeants oil stained and worn one.

"We have a shipment of Portable Anti Tank Alotov Rifles coming back from Estolov, urgent need to be shipped to Aydinir." The sergeant said with a tired voice. On the back the trucks with the weapons had arrived and the soldiers at the port were beginning to get the large crates off the vehicles.

Kovalevsky was intrigued at the sudden arrival as he once more looked at the manifesto, nevertheless the shipments had arrived with an ordered telegram with the royal seal of the King himself and as such they were unquestionable.

"Very well... Load them up on the ship. They're about to sail off." The Captain said as he then began to walk away towards his Ostaloc Car where his driver awaited him.

Marching Aydinirian troops

Aydinirian Empire
March 1928

Death of venerated Emperor Zhisūdris changed everything. In less than a month of Cifrinah's coronation a martial law was announced in all of the Empire. Aydinir, already being an authoritarian state with secret police and state propaganda apparatus, became outright totalitarian regime. Secret services of SAVAK and AQSA, that since secret "palace civil war" from a few years earlier were completely under Cifrinah's control were given even more power and prerogatives. They were expanded, with network of SAVAK's secret informers numbering millions all over the land, effectively enveloping all of Empire with a system of total invigilation. This allowed the young Empress to achieve something even Her revered father did not - absolute and unlimited power.

While AQSA agents were even during Emperor Zhisūdris' times commonly refered as Rifānaya Khshāyaraz (Hands of the Emperor) and SAVAK as Anûshaya Khshāyaraz (Eyes of the Emperor) this became even more true now. For as old Aydinirian saying goes:
Ashfan Khshāyar pagesannaite, vissa doh Anûshaya wānnaite
Where the Divine Emperor cannot go, He will send His Eyes

Most of the people did not notice any changes or met this new reality with enthusiasm and joy. They did not notice when sceptics and critics dissapeared. Millions cheered on the streets, when countless Sirvanskans were quietly expulsed and resettled all over the Empire or detained inside the Reeducation Camps, where they met suspected spies, preachers of foreign creeds and ideologies and all others considered Enemies of the Empire. For all what was happening was nessecary to survive this time of utmost crisis. Nessecary to clense Divine Empire of those who would seek to destroy it. To avange the deaths of the martyrs that died in St.Osloverg. To avange wounds of Son of the Emperor. To avenge Divine Emperor Zhisūdris himself, that as popular rumors would say was in fact assassinated. To bring retribution upon the guilty. All had to sacrafice their strenght in this divine and eternal struggle - to defend the Divine Order. To defeat Chaos and the followers of Arhish. And now there was only one place that was the weaked den of Chaos. Nihon ruled by an unholy Imposter. Imperial propaganda stated all of that clearly, loudly and often, and there was no reason not to believe Divine Empress, the Sword of Justice.

All of that was with but one goal in mind. Control over Information. For who controls Information controls the Truth.

But that was not everything. Ever since the Parsa Crisis, Aydinir started to militarize, but in months after Cifrinah's Coronation this militarization took on dimensions and momentum never seen before. Mass mobilization was announced, with milions enlisting into the army. Mass movements of troops could be seen all over the Subcontinent - on Ceylonian Isles, Nirah, Ezhid and Andharvan. Every day ships with foreign equipment and arms reached Aydinirian ports. Arenginian artillery and anti-tank weapons, Skartenian and Warglorian rifles and arms, Manticoran vehicles and other goods all found their way into Aydinirian armories. Whole transport ships with planes, tanks and artillery. Even ships themselves were being bought, mostly from Manticore, including Clemson-class destroyers or 3 Hermes-class aircraftcarriers.

Empire for decades now was trying hard to develop its industry, as it was one of the goals of Emperor Zhisūdris himself. This process however gained much speed 6 years ago, with the signing of Aydinirian-Skartenian Treaty Of Economical & Industrial Development. For the last 6 years factories were growing rapidly, emerging from ground like flowers after rain of a desert. Now, fueled by need and determination, they reached capability that allowed for mass production of guns and rifles, as well as for development of new types of such weapons.

Although the Nihonese could notice large quantities of ships coming to Aydinirian shores, make educated guesses on arming or troop movements, the great wall of disinformation and secrecy built across the Empire by SAVAK and AQSA prevented anyone from seeing the true scope of things. One could only wonder.

Whatever the truth was, one thing was clear.
Aydinirian eagle, for too long sleeping, was now fully awake.

Mountains of Nirah
July 1928

-"Carry Arms!"
-"Order Arms!"
-"High Port Arms!"

With each shout soldiers followed in unison. All perfectly in line, all working like cogs in the machine.

In front of them stood one older man, in foreign military uniform that was his pride. Wilhelm Hintersatz, or Varishfarin Arāssidhani as was the name he took after converting to Jarism. An old Warglorian veteran of the Nine Years War. Despite spending last 20 years of his life in Aydinir, finding love here and creating family, despite being loyal to his new homeland and even converting to Jarism out of true conviction, he was still Warglorian patriot in heart. He still remembered all the blood he once shed and spilled for the Reich and training of Warglorian veteran. He was a militaryman after all, and as people say: you cannot teach old dog new tricks.

And that was precisely his mission, for the last 20 years. To pass on that knowledge and experience. He was a military instructor for the Imperial Army, drilling and training soldiers in Warglorian style. He was one of many - Warglorian military advisors and instructors were a project of Emperor Zhisūdris himself, who inspired his Unificationists partially on the Warglorian Reich. That was visible even by looking at Aydinirian soldiers, who wear Xônyôd, modified Aydinirian version of Warglorian Stahlhelm with some aestetic resemblance to older Pickelhaube.

Wilhelm could recall at least two other Warglorian instructors out of his mind, Andreas Meyer-Mader and Hellmuth Felmy. Although they were hardly the only ones. Many Warglorian veterans were offered salary and estates in Aydinir in exchange for their experience. Many accepted and travelled to this exotic land to spend their old age training troops. Most of them did not convert to Jarism, nor did they have to. Their work was already contributing enough to the glory of the Empire.

And work it was for sure. Especially now.
Wilhelm shook off reflection, in which he was for mere seconds. There was a work to do.

Aydinir
September, 1928

Soon after Cifrinah's Coronation a large number of training camps was established by a secret order of the Great Council. Located and spread across western Aydinir - in Ezhid, Sharbān, Chazh, Ḱivarā and Nirah - those military camps were to become a safe haven for Yindrai rebels and patriots, where they would train and be equiped with Aydinirian arms, hidden from eyes and far away from reach of their Aclusian oppressors. Another step on a road to reclaim Yindrai and drive out foreign colonizers.

Matters complicated slightly, when YLF reached to the world looking for all outside help possible. Not long ago, their call was answered with Hoosier and Traansval expressing their desire to help. Aydinirians knew however their help would not be of altruistic nature.

After some backstage talks between YLF, Aydinir, Hoosier and Traansval, Aydinirians allowed Hoosier and Boer military instructors and equipment into the training camps. Aydinirians assured them, that the camps would be run by YLF. But in fact Empire could not allow military camps inside its territory to be run by anyone else - whatever was the official version and whatever apperances, supervision and controll over them was ultimately in Aydinirian hands, or in hands of select and trusted YLF officers.

Many wondered, why would the Empire even allow foreigners and their influence to meddle with Yindrai and holy Aydinirian Reason of State.
Empire, as everyone else, had its own ulterior motives.

When Hoosiers and Boers reached Aydinir, all of them were precisely registered by SAVAK, without them knowing about it. Many copies of the Totalist Manifesto and the People’s Mandate were confiscated upon entry, but a few of them were intentionally allowed inside, with Hoosiers and Boers let to believe them manage to smuggle it under Aydinirian noses. But from now on all of them were to be under constant invigilation by the all-seeing Eyes of the Divine Empress. Basically, at the imperial mercy. Unaware, those guests were to have a false sense of safty, notion of having free hand without interferance, all to embolden their actions.

It was essentially one huge case study. Observation of Socialist and Totalist indoctrination in controlled enviroment. Study of their methods in order to develop more effective ways of countering and neutralizing their influence and perhaps to improve Aydinirian propaganda as well and make it more appealing for different recipients.
Of course, the Eyes would observe who of the rebels got attracted to those dangerous ideas, information added to dossier of each rebel trained by in the camps. Many of them would be also used to spread and facilitate imperial propaganda, although use of those with Hoosier and Boer presence would be mostly avoided. For knowledge is power and being unknow is being unconquerable.

In the same time Hoosier and Boer guests were shown only what Aydinir wanted them to see. With typical for that nation love for spectacle, Aydinirians wanted to make an impression on them. To amaze. Beguile. Organized trips were planned for some of highranking Hoosiers and Boers, especially to Ḱivarā in the north and Ezhid itself in the south. There were also female agents, undercovered as civilians, that were to seduce and subvert those foreign guests. Extract informations.

As they were to discover, Aydinir was a land of many temptations.

Rachana
November 1928

In September 1928 massive joined Aydinirian-Rachanan military exercises were publicly announced to take place on the Rachanan coast, on both land and sea. Reportedly hundrets of thousands of troops from the Army Centrum were sent to Rachana, while Army North stayed in the north and Army South concentrated near Ezhid.

And with Aydinirian soldiers came another round of negotiations between Aydinirians and Rachanans regarding royal marriage of Shanrhain and Azaneth and reestablishment of the Rachanan monarchy. After all, desperate times call for desperate measures. Such an openly anti-Nihonese alliance was perhaps a necessity.

Nasaria
November 1928

In November 1928 Rhavanis Fravaharis togather with small group of Aydinirian officers was sent to Nasaira as a diplomatic envoy with a secret mission to Nasairan Emperor. His objective - secure Nasiran neutrality, or perhaps even support during the incoming conflict.

Operation Obruent

Postby Breyburg » Fri Oct 25, 2019 8:01 pm

Comanche Territory, Southeastern Ohio
Early November, 1928

Operation Obruent
Felix Barr and Roy Gibson, spies for the Socialist Allied States of Breyburg had a task; fund Comanche natives within Crimetopolis and instruct them to attack Crime soldiers once war breaks out.

The men under the disguise of drifters, followed the smoke trails and paths of the Comanche, and eventually found one of their camps. They did it in daylight, so as to not scare them. They approached the natives with a deal; if they attack Crime soldiers once war broke out between Breyburg/Central Alliance with Breyburgian arms, they would be granted sovereignty. Their attacks would overwhelm Crime forces who already would have to deal with Breyburg invaded from the west and the east, and Iron Guard as well. It would only complicate things, making the Crimetopolis resistance having to split forces to fight the Central Alliance Coalition and the Native insurgents. It was a brilliant plan. They would be given 100 Lebel 1886 rifles, 4 cases of Mk 2 hand grenades and ammo. They should be able to subsist on that long enough to cause enough panic within the Crime military. They would teach the chiefs of the tribe how to use the rifles, who would in turn teach other members who would teach the rest of the tribe. This operation was to be called Operation Obruent, obruent meaning overwhelm in latin.

Melva, Socialist Republic of Hettausa
January, 1928

“Sir, we have to consider this offer!” a Hettausan adivsor said to Miran Uvarov, the first and glorious President of the Socialist Republic of Hettausa.

“They ask that we submit to their unlawful invasion and seizure of Sirvanskan land! I do not think I can do that.” Miran said.

“They offer recognition. They Socialist Allied States of Breyburg already does so, but if we can get Aydinir to do so as well, it would mean a lot. We could go up on the international stage. Perhaps we could get the Arengin Union or the Aclusian Empire to recognize our nation as well. This is an opportunity we can’t pass up.”

“Is there anything else they offer?” Miran said.

“They are offering to deport Sirvanskan socialist sympathizers to be sent here, Hettausa.”

“Why didn’t you say so in the first place? Bring them home! Yes, I agree.” Miran Uvarov announced.

Yoho Harbor, Breyburgian Territory, Eastern Indianum
February, 1928

“Any and all who lynch, hang, kill or slaughter or so as even assault a Breyburgian soldier or officer will be detained!” Shouted Brigadier Christopher Lanson. He was standing atop a Lanchester Armored Car that was parked in the middle of a street in Yoho Harbor.

A large feeling of disapproval, disagreement and hatred resonated from the Carriebeanian crowd that stood beneath and in front of him. A beer can flew at him and hit his face. Beer spewed on his clean uniform.

“Who did that?” The crowd was silent. Guns were pointed at the crowd. “You are risking not only your life but your fellow citizen’s lives. Do you want that?!”

Again, silence.

“That’s what I thought. Whoever lynched Sergeant Meyfield, step forward. You have broken the law and in turn shall be put on trial. We do not wish to be oppressors! Your resistance makes your lives and our job harder. Do you want anymore death or destruction upon your land? If I were you I certainly would not. Ask yourself, do you love your country, your culture and heritage over your government? Your government that has sent you to war countless times over meaningless reasons? Love your country, not your government. We are here to support your culture and heritage. We are here to destroy all past fondness of your President. He is a tyrant and not worthy of your respect. We will embrace you, if you embrace us. Now ask yourself, how much have you lost within the last 5+ years? Land, money, possessions, houses… Loved ones? Do you want to lose more? In your situation, I would not. I would only want stability and prosperity. We offer that! We can give it to you, only if you consent. I ask that you consent. We only want to help, it’s up to you to accept that help. So please, whoever lynched Sergeant Meyfield, step forward so you can be put on trial in Stegas.” Christopher spoke to the crowd.

More silence, yet this time less disapproving, less disagreeing and less hatred. The man who headed the lynching of the Sergeant Meyfield stepped forward, possibly moved by his speech, or maybe accepting his fate. He was put in handcuffs by Breyburgian soldiers and put in a separate Lanchester Armored Car.

Brigadier Lanson stepped off the car and was escorted away to the brigade headquarters located at the docks.

The man who stepped forward, Jerome Pickett, was sentenced to life in Stegas, and is now held in Stegas State Prison.
