Author Applicaiton

Name: (Dr.) Albert Ruper
Age: 37
Height and Weight: 192cm, 85kg
[/b]Skin, hair, and eye description: Blue eyes, blonde hair. Pale, white skin.
( Optional ) Picture:

Prior Profession: Part-Time Author, Copywriter (Basically someone who writes for advertising and stuff)
Level of education ( specify degrees or note worthy classes ): PhD in Creative Writing, Master's Degree in English Language.
Physique description: Average build, slightly muscular.
Useful skills: Has the capability to persuade people whether through writing or speaking. A sharp mind with a strong wit, very methodical and calculating.

National Origin: Anglo-German
What were you doing prior to falling asleep and awakening in the past?: Ironically enough, writing a book about time travel.
Description of personality: A dark, brooding character, yet stiff and strong, almost like the personality of a military officer (taking after his father). He is also quite egoistic (although he isn't vain) and harsh against those who do not obey him.
Where in the world are you landing?: North Jutland.

Autobiography/Biography ( paragraph minimum ):
Born to a retired officer and the daughter of an engineer in Dover, Albert Ruper was born as the middle child of the family, having an older brother and younger sister. In school, he mostly succeeded in intellectual pursuits, making a few friends with his charisma and his wit. He was kind and gentle, despite his father trying to prod him otherwise. He began to shift slowly, however, starting with his family's vacation in Jerusalem....

As many people know, "Jerusalem Syndrome" is the name given to religious experiences or delusions (depending on who you ask) within Jerusalem. And so, Albert received one, hearing the voice of what seemed to be three angels and an omnipotent being, calling to him to bring mankind justice and set it free. He would be given strength and intelligence as a result of this, and so, he pledged his allegiance to the being, of which he did not know the identity of.

Along with that, his own father also treated him as though he was in the military himself, although not in an abusive way like many would think. His soft, gentle outside soon became hard and grisly, even serving a year or two in the service like his father.

He then took an education, writing for a living, with aspirations to become an author. This mostly succeeded as he lived a well-off life for a few years, until he came here.

( Optional on down)
What are your intentions for this RP, what's the long term goal?: Build a civilisation built on the values of intelligence. Possibly a meritocracy or democracy.
What people or places are you taking inspiration from?: Ehh, mostly original.
Why did you chose to land where you did?: Because I like Germanic cultures and Denmark is one of the most arable places in Europe.
What vibe should we get from your civilization and it's culture?: A Germanic militaristic society with a foundation of culture.
What are your character's motivations?: Just advancing society and promoting his own agenda, you know, the usual.
Theme Song?:
What do you wanna see in this RP? What would make it better?:

It's up!

I made the wheelbarrow!

You're welcome!

From this point onward - Issac is going to be working as an advisor to the chief, and given plenty of time and resources to experiment.

So im thinking...

Rome makes a good farming/population center, to give manpower, however it does lack in natural metals. I could expand to get access to metals or wait for another author to spread the idea.

So im thinking good ol' pop spam with stone spears as equipment. And to ensure loyalty religious doctrine to instill trust in the government. To ensure no rebelliousness in the cities early on, no taxes. The only thing demanded is a tithe that will be taken when the government needs it.

I think that should keep me stable for awhile. I think government promotion on missionaries will also help. Spread nearby villages on the idea of joining the covenant.

From Rome to the North of Italy is quite a ways to go. Trade is a possibility - but not if the Etruscan don't want to trade.

Yeah, I think thats a good direction to head. When do you think I should figure out bronze weaponry? A person who has an idea what he is doing, but doesn't know how to really do it. Thus is testing to see what he can get through thinking things out.

Entruscans extension was mostly in central italy. I do agree its a bit of a extension, but I think I could get it to work if I don't muck things up. That being said until I have bronze I ought to trade.

This part here is putting a bad taste in my mouth. This just seems kind of out there. I would prefer that authors remain as close to their RPer as possible - and that any interesting development ( such as like delusions ) to only occur once in the past.

Well, really, adding just about any amount of tin to copper in alloy will improve its material properties. So, assuming that you can toss rocks into a fire and blind guess where tin can be found, you can make bronze, even with minimal knowledge. Just up to the OP how long that will take, functionally.

Ignore mr. 3 years and wait for OPs judgement. I havent posted past the first year since I wanted the ops verdict.

Also taking G's advice, when do you think I should figure bronze out messing with small copper and tin I can find in the region to get a idea of how to make metals? As G has stated it should'nt be to difficult covering bronze gear, but Im not expecting immediate results.

Well it's going to take me some time to make a comprehensible post and will be quite long but I hope it should suffice a three year journey.

Well within the first three years Luther will be working as a translator to a merchant who Luther managed to convince him on a expedition to Turkey. This came after he noticed that Luther had a silver tongue and somewhat of a good head for business, at least advertising, and considered him quite good at making deals. The caravan would have some other investors who wish to go to places such as Canaan and the Kingdom of Ebla but Luther will be starting his Marco Polo journey in my intro post of three years.

Any good sources to recap on ancient italian cultures? I have most of it hidden away in memory save for plenty of notable things that fascinated me when I was reading a book covering the rise of rome. I need something to give me a qyick recap so I can remind myself that attitude and culture of the time period.

Even if its not the precise time period I could use it to implement good early attitudes of the cultures.

You're probably going to need to rely on guess work to some extent, since this period of time isn't documented all that well, which makes it harder to reconstruct than later times.
