Ok, so I'm making my post that Luther is an adviser for the tribe he's made friends with and with a priest from Ur in order to conduct trade around Sumeria while Ur takes a profit from it. This also allows Ur to become more advance as Luther made investments for domesticating donkeys and horses and advised the priest on going to the kings of Upper and Lower Egypt to get shipbuilders to develop a navy that can expand Ur's influence beyond just Sumeria.

This sets up the tribe he's in the region but he has no leadership roles yet, but he does have some influence that he can throw around.

So yeah, that took forever. Please, if you could give me some feed back. I am trying out a few new styles - namely writing in the first person instead of in the third ( like I had previously ). I am also going to start focusing my story more around the characters involved, rather than simply the actions Issac under takes.

We need memes. New Civilizations should have a steady supply of memes.

Prior Profession: Student/Ski Resort Worker
Level of education: B.A. in European History, currently/on hold working on a B.A. in World History and finishing a masters in European
Physique description: Taller and well muscled from time spent on the slopes, has a decent sized scar across his right eyebrow as well as a rather nasty looking one on his right arm going up and across his shoulder. Has somewhat decent stamina but don't ask him to run a marathon.
Useful skills: Fencing, stupid amounts of random historical knowledge, general survival knowledge

What were you doing prior to falling asleep and awakening in the past?: Probably writing one paper or another
Description of personality: Stupid levels of cocky. It's a problem. Kind and caring at the base level but also has an arrogance problem he's been trying to fix. Loyal to his friends but incredibly passionate in his hate of his enemies.
Where in the world are you landing?: Nanjing, China

Autobiography/Biography: Henry was born in the New England area roughly 26 years before he would be dropped into the past. If he had to describe his hometown, rural would be the description he gave. In the middle of the woods with the nearest large town being an hours drive away, it was a somewhat boring existence. His hobbies growing up involved the Boy Scouts and Fencing. While in school he hated math and science, he found that he had an uncanny gift for history and historical writing. Playing football and rugby, as well as skiing, for his school team helped him keep in shape while also engaging in a frankly unhealthy amount of video game and board game playing. Eventually, he left his New England roots to go to college, where he obtained a degree in European history. After college he tried his hand in the job market for a little while saving money to go to graduate school. Though he tried his hand at it for a semester while trying to obtain another bachelor's degree on the side, he suffered a bit of a mental breakdown, and after finishing the semester, he took a job at a ski resort in Colorado.

What are your intentions for this RP, what's the long term goal?: Probably become the Dragon Emperor or something like that
What people or places are you taking inspiration from?: Ancient China as a big one, probably a healthy dosing of ancient Hellenistic culture with a chinese flair to it, maybe some elements from fantasy things I/Henry like.
Why did you chose to land where you did?: Landed in China last time I was in this RP and it's the only region that's still somewhat empty.
What vibe should we get from your civilization and it's culture?: Eventually a stratified and somewhat hedonistic society dedicated to their emperor, but we'll see if it gets there, or if it takes on another feel.
What are your character's motivations?: Survive and make the best of his new situation.

Yeah, so, something just occurred to me: we might be killing our own populations with our germ theory and cleanliness.

Think about it for a minute. The reason why the native americans got wipped out by European diseases is because they had no immunity. The reason Europeans had immunity was because for thousands of years they lived side by side with animals, pests in their large urban city centers. Think about what a lot of us are doing right now:

Separating animals from people, proper waste disposal, distilling clean water, treating food with salt, hand washing, exterminating pests, etc.

I think we might be stifling their immune systems...

Prolly. Just saying though - once Europe and Asia start to get full of pops and Civ's start to really grow into themselves, I've got some event ideas.

The diseases in the Americas were so devastating less because of lack of immunity, but because that was coupled with conquest and depopulation and/or slavery as well.

Europe recovered from the Black Plague, they probably wouldn't have had they simultaneously been invaded and colonized by, idk, the Muslim world?

My vibe for them will be someone seeking glory as that's something I'd do given the opportunity. My character will work their way to uniting Samaria and Judea, and than make a kingdom in the Levant.

Their/My goal will be to create something like home with what's available, and I don't have precise knowledge in how to build cities but reading up on states, politics, etc are a very serious hobby for me. I figure given the circumstances of the RP I can use my general knowledge to teach it and build schools, and basically crack the timescale worse than it already is.

With the amount of livestock being circulated around Ireland atm, there will probably be plenty of epidemics. In fact I was planning for a plague to strike the League soon, followed by... other things (really it's just to let you catch up a bit since I was posting A LOT during the April hiatus. All impending British deathmatch jokes aside, it wouldn't be enjoyable/fair if Ireland just steamed ahead of the other Brits by virtue of long and frequent posts on my end. Not everyone has the same amount of freetime)
