Has anything major happened since I've been away from the RP?

Not in Japan, but we have Cthulhu pirates in the Med, religious crusaders in Egypt, uprisings in Sumeria, and ongoing conflicts throughout Northern Europe.
TG if you have questions about RP. If I don't know the answer, I know someone who does.

Imperium built a fort on England's eastern shore as a """humanitarian mission"""

I've sent the Army up to dislodge them and we're in the middle of that now

Eh. Functionally, between the sulfur mining, charcoal burning, and the niter extraction process, I’m guessing that it will be easier for the Imperium just to go around most obstacles in that regard, rather than investing the labor cost involved in blasting routes through inhospitable terrain. Mainly, that’s because of switching costs - producing more treated wood and mild steel for rail isn’t hard at all, whereas scaling up the existing research-level industries for sulfur and niter will take much more effort.

I’m taking a different route for explosives, one more commensurate with the Imperium’s existing expertise, resources, and industries.

Considering you're based out of a mountain range, it would be a bit impractical to only build on already available land. You'll at the very least need to create paths at higher altitudes, whether through simple hard labor or explosives.

Of course, there are alternatives to black powder, as you've said. That just so happened to be the easiest path for me when I discovered the iron mine I had already established like 10 years earlier actually produced iron sulfate.

The Imperium and Icedonia are currently engaged in a Rocky 4-esque death struggle. Tension between the Commonwealth, and Hibernia continues to grow. Nestos is currently being Cthulhued. Siwa has founded Matriarchal Egypto-Islam. Ethiopia continues to spread the word of the OneTM TrueTM GodTM, now with 50% less Reformations. Crimea has literally just transformed into a landed Penny Arcade(the company, not the entertainment venue). California has been dormant for around the same amount of time as you, but they're trying to create the worlds first electrically lit city with a few sacks of potatoes.

Its actually taken a lot longer then I had expected myself. Kinda lost interest in the english war honestly (not that I was going to do anything major either), but with it taking so long I'm kinda burnt out. Just hoping it wraps up soon so I can go into the Imperium.

Military occupational speciality. It's what your job is in the military. I'm a 25U, signal support systems specialist.. I'm the most common signal soldier in the Army, tasked with operating, maintaining, and educating on every piece of communications equipment at a basic level for your average soldier. Usually, as I am, we're tasked out to line companies ( in my case, I'm with a company of 12B's, combat engineers ).

I know kelmet was a intelligence guy, or 35 series, but I dont what 35 in specific.

Aerial ropeways and trams can move things down mountains without blasting. Also rope drives powered by water. There is steel cable after all in the Imperium. Mechanical power transmission.

Me and G got really heated in the docs, but we good now and a lot of progress is being made in the battle for Defiance. Ted, you wanna die for the Imperium? Well there's a spicey offer up for you in the Docs.

Maintenance is a bitch though. Setting up the ropes/cables with effectively no technology to help has to be a death sentence.

One poorly-done twist of rope and hello welcome to technophobia.

Yeah... not trusting a rope pulleys to carry people until industrial manufacturing standards and quality-assurance.

I wonder, what would you guys consider Gaukhar mentally and physically and ideologically right now at this current state?

I'm kinda curious to see how people think of her. I haven't seen much buzz about her in the posts and it's been making me worried.

We will reduce your debt slavery if you are willing to help us build aerial ropeways through the mountains. Glory and freedom await you and a much reduced sentence. Do you dare? Freedom and pay await you.

Gaukhar is in between Victor Spear and Grace in terms of sanity. Seeing visions is pretty bad, but you haven't graduated to full on nuts just yet.

Definitely not as bad as Philip, who's butchering entire towns in the name of Cthulhu after only a month.

Ideologically, I quite like what you're doing. Blending theologies into something entirely different is quite clever. I don't think anyone else has done it yet. We have a few people adopting existing faiths. Some making up shit on the fly. Even more people forcing their own faiths onto an unready Neolithic world. You've even got a few devoted atheists/agnostics in myself and Plzen. But no truly blended faiths.

He, like I, believes in freedom of religion as fundamental to the function of a modern egalitarian society. The edicts of said conference quite clearly only dealt with the separation of church and state, and the guaranteeing of basic human rights. Not sure how being realistic about the existence of religion within a cosmopolitan society is counter to Pat's personal feelings.

Can't really say if Gaukhar's ideals are allowing such freedom of religion. But atleast she didn't ban homosexuality or anything outlandish like that. So it does still follow the Ancient Egyptian customs too, but has Islamic customs in it.

Given that she recently drank wine with the chief, alcohol isn't banned either. (It was probably the first time she actually drank alcohol given her lifestyle, but at that point, she really didn't care about her old Islamic traditions since no one would actually care.)
