Russian Commonwealth: The Neo-Byzantine Empire enjoys very friendly relations with the Russian Commonwealth; with Emperor Kostantinos XII having his son and heir, Co-Emperor John IX marry a Romanov Princess. The Empire has established strong trade relations with the Commonwealth, and has even a Mutual Defense Pact with the Commonwealth (pending approval from the Commonwealth player, of course)

Austrian Empire: The Neo-Byzantine Empire enjoys cordial relations with Austria. Both Nations share similar, Monarchist, Traditionalist political positions. Aside from that, there is not much going on.

British Empire: Following the "Greek Vespers" of 1848, and the overthrow of King Thomas, an ex-Admiral of the British Navy; relations with Britain have been strained. Furthermore, the Republican leadership who continue to direct Republican resistance to the Imperial Regime; including Andreas Metaxas, have taken asylum in London. Brief Description of your Economy: Industrialization is underway in major cities like Athens, Thessalonika and Constatninople; and commerce is dominated by Russian, Austrian, French and British merchants and entrepreneurs. The countryside is still very agrarian, and dominated by large landowners, but the people are not serfs. The Imperial Capital at Constantinople is still under heavy reconstruction, and the Imperial Army is occupying and attempting to subdue the nationalist rebels in Bulgaria.

History: The Greek War of Independence is helped along by a certain British Admiral, Thomas Cochrane; a well-known Philhellene. After helping the Greeks push the Turks out as far as Thrace, he was crowned King Thomas I of the Hellenes, in 1825 AD. He invited in merchants and bankers from England to invest in his new capital poor kingdom. He used the money to build up the Royal Army and Navy of Greece, and proceeded to conquer into Thrace, Makedonia and even Bulgaria. This made him incredibly popular, for a time. He established his Royal Court at Thessaloniki (because he was a Classicist and was obsessed with Alexander the Great); it was a rather extravagant building, built in a Classical Style; and was so elaborate and expensive, journalists came to call it the "Versailles of the East". In 1829, he invited the British to place a garrison of 3,000 troops, in Thessaloniki to help guard his capital. In the 1830s and early 1840s, the King boasted in his Military Successes and grandiose Neo-Classical construction projects - to make Greece like it was in ancient times. However, King Thomas cared nothing for the nation's Orthodox Christian Religion; in fact, he ordered the closure of dozens and churches and monasteries. This along with his high taxes and constant military adventuring began to pique his Greek subjects. While the King and his foreign cronies gorged themselves on dainties and expensive champagne; and lounged indolently on divans, frittering their time away in debauchery and drunkenness; the majority of the Greek People languished in poverty and watched their King squeeze them like an orange.

In 1848, King Thomas brought Greece along in the great war against the decrepit Ottoman Empire. This war won the King some popularity. However, in that same year, the 23rd of his reign, King Thomas would push his subjects over the edge, by attempting to close the venerable and ancient monasteries of Mount Athos, and arrest the Monks there; who had been criticizing the King's secularist policies, and the debauchery of his Royal Court. Instead of following the Royal Decree and taking the Monks into custody, the Soldiers turned around and, took over Thessaloniki. Aiding the rioting mob to neutralize the British garrison; and seize the weapons in the Armory ("the Greek Vespers"). Then, together, marched on the "Versailles of the East", along with a large mob of enraged peasants and workers. On the very same day that Constantinople fell to the Greek and allied forces; the Royal Court was sacked. By this point, King Thomas and his Family had already fled South with the Royal Retinue and Treasure; attempting to board a ship at Piraeus, to flee the country. However, when the King and his servants were attacked at the port, by a large mob, the King abandoned his baggage train and guards and lackeys, and fled just himself and his family. Years of gluttony, drunkenness and lack of exercise took its toll on the 73 year old British Admiral-turned King; and due to sudden stresses that befell him, Thomas Cochrane succumbed to a heart attack, as British troops and sailors dragged his corpulent body onto the ship; whilst holding the mob back.

When news of the King's Overthrow percolated throughout Greece, General Kostantinos Kantakouzenos, the Greek Commander in charge of the Greek forces in Constantinople; proclaimed himself Emperor of the Neo-Byzantine Empire; and was crowned as such by the Patriarch of Constantinople. He was crowned, Kostantinos XII, Emperor of the Greeks and Romans. When the People heard this, they rejoiced, and the unrest quieted down. The Bulgarians, however, wished to use this opportunity to stress their own Independence and National Identity, and so they continued to revolt against the Greek Government. Also, A Hellenic Republic was proclaimed in Athens; led by Andreas Metaxas. Emperor Kostantinos was quick to investigate the events in Thessaloniki; he returned the surviving British troops (kept prisoner in the White Tower) to Britain, and wrote a long, apologetic letter to the British because of their slain troops.

After concluding an armistice with the Ottomans in 1849, the newly crowned Emperor marched North and successfully reoccupied Bulgaria; forcing the rebels to flee into the Mountains and wage guerrilla warfare. In 1850, Emperor Kostantinos besieged Athens; and the Republican forces set up barricades to attempt to deter Imperial troops. But by September, the Battle was over, and Athens was in the Emperor's hands. Metaxas and other Republican leaders fled abroad, to London, as Imperial troops closed in. The Emperor continued to reign as an Absolute Monarch; and a Secret Police force was established;as resistance to Imperial rule has continued in both Bulgaria (with Bulgarian Nationalist Guerrillas) and in Attica and Peloponnese (with Republican Guerillas; called "Metaxists", after the Republican leader, Andreas Metaxas). In 1852, Emperor Kostantinos moved the capital to Constantinople. The new Imperial Capital was greatly damaged and depopulated during the 1848 assault; so the Emperor rebuilt the City in a Byzantine style and repopulated the City with Greeks, as most of the Turkish and Muslim inhabitants fled East. This project is largely ongoing to this day, and employs thousands.

The Emperor continued to reign with an iron fist; nonetheless beloved by his Greek subjects and hated by his Bulgarian and Albanian ones; who languished still under Greek Military Occupation. In 1853 AD, Emperor Kostantinos XII arranged a marriage between one of his sons, Crown-Prince Ioannis (John) and a Romanov Princess. In 1854 AD, he married his daughter, Princess Irene to a Bonaparte to cement good relations with the French; and he married his younger son, Prince Vassilis (Basil) to a Hapsburg Princess. In doing so, he won the recognition of Austria, Russia, France and Britain (begrudgingly).

In 1855 AD, the 70 year old Emperor named John as his Co-Emperor; thus confirming his Succession, and he decreed that upon his death, Prince Vassilis was to be named Co-Emperor with John, so that fratricide between the two brothers might be avoided.

I am going to remind you, once again, that you as of now, have no marriages too either the Romanov family (which I personally void as the Commonwealth) or the Bonapartes (If Columbia wishes to disagree and allow it, he obviously can however I am wholeheartedly against it and push for it to not be accepted). In any case, as I have said, your relations with the Commonwealth are little to none now that the civil war is happening, and marrying into the Romanov only helps you gain relations to Muscovy, not the Commonwealth. There will be no alliance or defensive pact in regard with the Commonwealth and the Greek Kingdom.

Judges are selected by regional governors after serving atleast 5 years as an attorney. The Executive Branch consists of the Emperor and his Chancellery. The Chancellery serves as a cabinet consisting of advisers and ministers. These positions can be rearranged and re formed by the Emperor at any time. The Emperor has the power to veto any legislation, though this can be reversed by the High Presidium of Justice. Members of the High Presidium are selected by the Parliament and serve for life. Local governments are created via charters and remain subservient to any national authority, the local government consists of the Province and its counties. Provinces had a Governor who represents the Emperor and is selected by the Emperor, other than that, they are copies of the federal government. The county governments are lead by an Elected Chairman and have a similar form of government to the province.

Descended form the line of Arrazola, the colonial rulers of Mexico and later the imperial family, Lorenzo originally had intentions to become a lawyer, but following the death of his older brother he became the heir and after finishing up his law degree at the University of Buenavista (Mexico's equivalent of Harvard), he returned to the palace where he began to learn about the workings of the government. In 1853 his father died of measles, thus the 41 year old Lorenzo took his place as Emperor, he had married twice but both times his wife died early into the marriage thus he has yet to have an heir.

Born in Mexico, Antonio Lopez grew up in the life of a lowly colonial family part of the elite criollo racial group. When he was 17 he joined the army and his father bought him a commission, he quickly rose the ranks as one of the most prominent and best Mexican military commanders. The Mexican commanders around him tended to be incompetent nobility and he quickly grew a distaste for the traditional ways of life. Antonio was given control of the Southern Army and put down several rebellions in the costa rican region. It was here where he pioneered the Jaguar tactics, designed to fight Guerrilla forces it divides the attack force in to a set of smaller groups and then they move in a coordinated fashion as a set of hard points for the enemy, once positions of the enemy force are discovered the hardpoints will move to encircle the area and take it out. He became famous for having an eye for sharpshooters and was hardened by his time in the jungle. Due to his popularity and skill he was eventually promoted to the head of the military by Lorenzo Arrazola's father. He removed the purchasable commission system instead requiring commanders to go to military academy to receive a commission. After his numerous army reforms he requested to retire and was made ambassador to Colombia, when Lorenzo took power in 1853, he requested Santa Anna be made his Chancellor.

Brief Description of your Economy: The Economy is mainly focused on Natural Resources from agriculture and mining, however, the development of an industrial corridor spanning between Mexico City and Veracruz has certainly jump started a modern industry in the country. The corridor encompasses cities like Puebla City, Xalapa, Tolupa, Mexico City, and of course Veracruz. The corridor is the site of the nations first railroad and produces refined metals, and processed agrarian goods. In agriculture the country is the worlds largest producer of Vanilla, Maize/Corn, and Chico (The primary ingredient in chewable foods like Chewing Tobacco and Gum) among other things. It remains a dominant agricultural power in the region.
Goals: The main goal of the country is to continue development of the nations rail networks, and industrial sector. Ideas for a public education system and new university model are also in the works. However the most prominent goal would be to curb influence of other powers in the region and maintain the status quo.
History: Discovered in 1517 by Francisco Hernandez de Cordoba, the Spanish region quickly became the target of Spanish colonial influence in the Americas. In 1519 under the leadership of Hernan Cortes, the Spanish conquered the region from the natives removing old empires like the Mayans and stomping new ones like the Aztecs. It was the fourth Arrazola ruler, Ferdinand Garcia Arrazola, in 1589 that established the plan to integrate the natives into the populace. This involved encouraged racial intermixing, mass conversion, and forced schooling. This newer mixed race became among the most educated and served in the courts of kings for generations to come, due to the forced schooling. The schooling made it appealing to marry natives because it would provide a route to social movement. Thus the class structure of old European ways was abolished in 1611 by Governor Jose de Francisco Arrazola, in favor of a two class system that was mobile, with chiefs of government and generals making the top rank.

In 1619 Jose also established a table of ranks the established a meritocratic system in the country providing an effective system of civil service, along with the introduction of civil service exams similar to those of China. In 1634 the Territory of Panama and Nicaragua was integrated with Mexico, providing a new area for them to govern, unfortunately here the natives had became resilient and resistant to the colonial government, which would continue a century long feud that wouldn't end until Santa Anna's jaguar campaign and the forced integration of the native populace in the beginning of the early 1800s. The 1600s marked a period of growth with around 3 million immigrants to the colony providing a fresh source of labor. In the early 1700s Chinese and Korean businessman and laborers came into the colony looking for work and opportunity, hoping to expand Fusang business in the area, this brought in a tint of Chinese and Asian culture that integrated to create a unique Mexican culture. In the mid 1700s tax hikes, tariffs, and increased Spanish governance of the region began to anger the locals who previously enjoyed much autonomy from the Spanish crown. The Spanish didn't understand that the colony had come to form its own unique culture and even had a dialect that was quite different from European Spanish.

In the Mid 1700s Spanish troops came to the colony to help aid in attacking remaining native resistance, however with most of the natives having integrated, the locals didn't particularly support the war, forced quartering of troops didn't help the situation. By the 1790s resistance to Spanish rule became appearant, in order to try and quell rebellious fervor, the Spanish began to get more and more restrictive against the colony. This only made the people more angry. In 1801 the Mexico City Riots saw the raid of the Spanish Garrison there twice. This soon proved the ineffectiveness of the Spanish units in Mexico, by 1802 the nation had turned to open rebellion with the full support of the Arrazola family. The Mexicans raided the armories of several Spanish units. Soon complete control of the Mexico City area and west coast were established. The Mexicans then began a push toward the east coast, the Northern Army would quickly secure the important cities of Monclova and Monterrey. The Mexican forces began a full push southeast in 1803. Long travel distances and ineffective communication hampered Spanish movement, supplies, and tactics. Veracruz and the Yucatan region would be secured by the Autumn of 1803. With their last remaining territory in Costa Rica and Nicauragua, the Spanish agreed to a terms of a peace which saw the creation of a Mexican State.

The young Mexican Nation got to work making a constitution that saw the creation of a supreme court and unicameral legislative body, the Imperial Senate. Italian States: Iberia has always been fearful of any form of Italian Unification threatening its core territories and views the Holy Italian Confederation a grave threat to the Union despite it being formed as a compromise between Austria and France to prevent unification, Iberia has been staunchly opposed to it.

Austria: Austria is by an large considered by many in Iberia to be the closest thing to an ally on the Continent with the current King being married to a Habsburg and a mutual acknowledgment of Bonopartist France being a threat to both nations as well as sharing similar concerns regarding Italian Unification.

Fusang: Fusang is generally considered a threat by Iberia to the remainder of its holdings in the Americas and as such Iberia has looked for potential allies in the Americas to maintain its holdings there.

Avisia: Avisia is considered the forgotten son to many of the Portugese due to the loss of the Cape to the British, however many are more than willing to ignore them, though due to potential confilcts of interests they are seen as a potential ally against the British.

Brief Description of your people: Iberia is a very diverse nation lead predominatly by the the 'Iberians' the Iberians being a mixture of Catalan, Portugese, and Spanish speaking leaders who have been united for the most part through a common feeling of being 'Iberian' though Spain is still recongized as being the predominat military power holding the other two in check. The Italian holdings despite not being considered 'true Iberians' are easily recongized as being prominent members with Iberia and due to this recieve an unoffical status above the rest and due to this many formerly Italian speaking Italains have begun speaking Spanish though the vast majority still speak primarily Italian. The rest of the Union are not for the most part considered true Iberians and make up the overseas holdings of Iberia, mostly India, and Transjordan. Cubans and Haitains have generally been considered a mixed bag but for the most part are still considered seperate and beneth the majority of Iberians.
Religion: Catholicsm is the State Religion though Islam, Hinduism and others are allowed to be practiced in the overseas colonies in Asia
