I would like to point out that the Soviet Union invaded Manchuria while it was still occupied by Japan, and only left after guaranteeing it to the Chinese Communists in 1946. In this timeline, since the Nationalists won, the USSR probably would have kept Manchuria.

And Mongolia had close ties with the USSR. Any integration with China will involve the Soviet Union as well

Maybe Iran isn't socialist, but they're on their side due to realpolitik, arms deals, etc. That wasn't too uncommon during the later half of the cold war, so it's not entirely unlikely, even if 1950 seems early.

Maybe Iran isn't socialist, but they're on their side due to realpolitik, arms deals, etc. That wasn't too uncommon during the later half of the cold war, so it's not entirely unlikely, even if 1950 seems early.

America did that part - supporting anyone, King, President or Dictator - if they were anti-communist. The Soviet Union did support arms deals and realpolitik - but it was for the purpose of turning them communist/socialist eventually. The few countries that supported the USSR, did so with a good air of 'butt-kissing' and supporting the USSR policies. That mostly applied to Finland and Egypt.
